On the trio enter the ring it becomes obvious that they all have gold on their minds tonight as DDP, who is the first to speak, says that he is now officially the number one contender to Jeff Jarrett's World Heavyweight Championship and he's coming for that title at New Blood Rising! The crowd cheers this statement as Page hands the mic to Kevin Nash, and Nash and Savage are still looking for a Tag Team Title shot, with Nash saying that they don't care how many hoops they have to jump through; they want a shot at the titles at New Blood Rising!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sSiM1MW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sSiM1MW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="9umPviH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9umPviH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="epiwJ9r.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/epiwJ9r.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tjPJopW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> The Chosen Ones then appear at the top of the ramp and the fans are quick to boo their arrival. Eric Bischoff has a mic in his hands and he proceeds to book a huge match for tonight; Diamond Dallas Page and Kevin Nash vs. Jeff Jarrett and Lex Luger... with the added stipulation that if Nash and Page wins...then DDP will get to choose a stipulation for the World Title match at New Blood Rising AND Nash and Savage will get a Tag Team Title shot. But if Jarrett and Luger wins, DDP forfeits his World Title shot and Nash and Savage don't get their Tag Team Title shot. Bischoff notes that there is a saying that goes something like "be careful what you wish for" and maybe Page, Nash and Savage should have thought a little bit about that before they came out here tonight because now it's all or nothing! The announcers wonder what DDP thinks of having to put it all on the line like this, but, almost as if he was reading their minds, Bischoff says that if Page has a problem with putting his title shot on the line tonight...well, then he's got his big buddy to thank for it. The Chosen Ones return to the back as the camera focuses on the three men in the ring before cutting elsewhere. <strong>(B+)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="zah6nFe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/zah6nFe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> We cut to what Tony tells us is a recording made earlier today which shows "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair arriving at the building. Flair says that the last several months have been nothing but bad news for him and he's sick and tired of playing second fiddle when he should be front and center in the spotlight! Gene starts to bring up last week's main event, but Flair cuts him off halfway through the question and says that he is still The Man regardless of what anybody else thinks, and he is not going to allow himself to be disrespected any longer! "The Cat" suggests that instead of Kanyon continuing to run his mouth, why don't they just settle things right here, right now?!? "The Cat" says that he is sick of listening to Kanyon and Stacy run their mouths, he is sick of getting attacked from behind by a coward, and he's sick of watching a grown man running away from a fight when he's got no problem running his mouth. "The Cat" drops the mic and then he and Miss Jones make their way to the ring, but once again Kanyon backs off and heads up the ramp, wanting no part of "The Cat" despite his big words, as Tony Schiavone quickly points out. Clearly frustrated, "The Cat" gets on the mic again and says that if Kanyon isn't man enough to face him tonight, then maybe he'll be man enough to face him at New Blood Rising? "The Cat" says that Kanyon can't run forever and sooner or later he WILL get his ass whupped! The match does not fail to deliver as it goes back and forth throughout, with plenty of interference attempts from Buff Bagwell, but every time he tries to get involved the "Macho Man" is right there to put a stop to it. At one point the referee is accidentally knocked out and the World Champion immediately tries to capitalize on it by going for his Acoustic Equalizer, but all he gets for his troubles is a big boot planted right in his face by "Big Sexy" Kevin Nash! Finally, everything breaks down when Buff Bagwell and Randy Savage start brawling at ringside and all four competitors in the match are going at it in the ring.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="Gc4aCsx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Gc4aCsx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> And that is when Mike Awesome suddenly comes down to ringside and helps Buff Bagwell get the upper hand against Randy Savage, and the two of them drive Savage back-first into the guard rail while Tony and Mike both wonder why Mike Awesome is helping The Chosen Ones here? "Macho Man" is stirring at ringside, but Mike Awesome leaves the ring to deal with him as Jarrett, Luger and Bagwell continue to beat Page and Nash down. Luger and Bagwell roll out of the ring as well and they retreat back up the ramp alongside the World Champion. The dust is very much still settling here, but Diamond Dallas Page has a stipulation to pick for his World Title match, Kevin Nash and Randy Savage has a Tag Title shot, and Sting is back in WCW as Monday Nitro comes to an end! <strong>(A)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Show Rating: B+</strong></p><p><strong> TV Rating: 1.43 (new record by quite a bit)</strong></p><p><strong> This show increased popularity in 10 regions</strong></p>

Very awesome show and fantastic that Sting is finally back! After thinking about your main event situation and seeing that Jeff Jarrett isn't pulling in the segment grades, I was thinking Booker and Scott Steiner are you go-to's. Now you can add Sting to that list!

I appreciate the comments and I'm very happy to have Sting back myself. I was looking for just the right time to bring him back and I believe this was it.

Also, I've got Nitro almost completely written so it will be posted tomorrow.

Bagwell has his tag team partner and other half of the Tag Team Champions, "The Total Package" Lex Luger, at ringside with him and Luger acts as a constant distraction for Rhodes as ringside, but even though he does receive a warning from the referee at one point, Luger is smart enough to not get himself sent to the back. Bagwell and Luger are long gone by the time Nash and Savage get to the ring, however, but that doesn't stop "Big Sexy" and "The Macho Man" from getting on the mic. Nash speaks first and he says that Luger and Bagwell can only run for so long because after last week him and Mach got a guaranteed Tag Team Title shot coming up at New Blood Rising and then the so called Champs won't have anywhere left to run! Chavo Guerrero Jr. does a lot of the work for his team early on in this one and Mike Tenay speculates if perhaps Chavo is trying to force his way back into the title picture by picking up a win here. The match is decent with a lot of back and forth action, but in the end it is Big Smooth who proves to be the difference in this one as he takes advantage of the referee losing control of the match by entering the ring and hitting a devastating powerslam on Alex Wright, who is then easy pickings for Disco Inferno who simply has to cover his former tag team partner to pick up the win.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Disco Inferno, Chavo Guerrero Jr. and Cash defeated Alex Wright, Billy Kidman and Shane Helms at 8.21 by pinfall when Disco pinned Wright following interference from Big Smooth (C-)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="xeqPtl1.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xeqPtl1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> A frustrated Dustin Rhodes is walking backstage, shaking his head at the way he lost his match earlier against Buff Bagwell. Jarrett refuses to actually enter the ring, however, opting instead to remain at the bottom of the entrance ramp. Page calls Jarrett's run as champion a disgrace, saying that he's had to rely on help from Bischoff, Luger and Bagwell to get the job done. Well, he's gonna have to get the job done on his own at New Blood Rising because the stipulation Page chooses for their match... is to have a special enforcer present at ringside during the match. But it's not gonna be just any enforcer--it's gonna be someone Page knows he can trust, someone who will do the right thing, someone who Jarrett, Bischoff and the rest of The Chosen Ones can't get to. And Page wants that special enforcer to be......STING! <strong>(A)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="7PSSM69.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7PSSM69.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> After a short wait, "Seek and Destroy" hits and Sting makes his way out from the back to a great reaction from the crowd! Sting joins DDP in the ring while Jarrett runs a full lap around the ring to avoid Sting, and then heads back up to the top of the entrance ramp. In the ring, Sting gets on the mic and tells Jarrett that before he disappears into the back he should know that the Stinger plans to do everything he can to ensure a straight up one on one fight at New Blood Rising. Sting then turns to DDP and tells him that he's got his word on that and the two fan favorites shake hands in the ring.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="sSiM1MW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sSiM1MW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Eric Bischoff then makes his way out form the back with a mic of his own and stands next to Jarrett at the top of the entrance ramp. Bischoff says that while he can't do anything about DDP's choice of stipulation, he can make a match of his own for next week's Nitro--which is exactly what he is going to do. Bischoff says that he won't tell Page who he'll be facing just yet, but he can tell him that the Insiders WILL have a match next week on Nitro while The Chosen Ones will have the night off. Bischoff smirks, clearly satisfied with himself, then adds that as for Sting...he'll pay the price for what he did last week in due time--"and YOU have MY word on that, Sting!" Bischoff and Jarrett then return to the back as Tony drives home the fact that Jeff Jarrett will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Diamond Dallas Page at New Blood Rising and Sting will serve as the special enforcer at ringside during the match. <strong>(A)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="Z1DlA0N.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/Z1DlA0N.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="aiJ3oYx.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/aiJ3oYx.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="gBHsAwo.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/gBHsAwo.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="ijZDMft.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ijZDMft.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> "Mean" Gene Okerlund is back again and this time he's with the Steiner Brothers, who he asks about Booker T and his words earlier. Sting finishes by saying that now that he's back...it's once again SHOWTIME folks! <strong>(B-)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> </p><p> <img alt="qc8WHPD.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/qc8WHPD.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="YiAV5xv.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/YiAV5xv.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />w/<img alt="TTtujDA.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/TTtujDA.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />vs.<img alt="rxMZSbm.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/rxMZSbm.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="1S9VfKR.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/1S9VfKR.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="SvNacxY.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/SvNacxY.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="7bFbOrf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7bFbOrf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />w/<img alt="KZ3THeU.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/KZ3THeU.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Speaking of showtime, it is time for our main event of the evening; a two on four handicap match as The Insiders face off against Sean O'Haire, Chuck Palumbo, Shawn Stasiak and Mark Jindrak. With "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Mike Sanders both at ringside as well, this match has all the potential in the world to spin completely out of control, which of course it does. Savage keeps Sanders in check, but it's still four on two in the ring and the former Thrillers aren't big on tagging in and out, which often means that all six competitors are in the ring at the same time, and Page and Nash each have to contend with two opponents at once.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="9umPviH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/9umPviH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="epiwJ9r.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/epiwJ9r.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tjPJopW.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tjPJopW.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Things go from bad to worse when The Chosen Ones "surprisingly" appears and joins the fight, and even though the referee finally calls for the disqualification, it is not much of a victory for the Insiders as they now face a two on seven fight.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Insiders defeated Sean O'Haire, Chuck Palumbo, Shawn Stasiak and Mark Jindrak at 9.39 by disqualification when The Chosen Ones got involved (B-)</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> "Macho Man" Randy Savage hits the ring to help out Page and Nash, but Mike Sanders joins the fight as well and now it is three on eight out there. Page, Nash and Savage are fighting for all they are worth, but the numbers are firmly against them here.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="7PSSM69.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/7PSSM69.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Sting then runs out from the back, black baseball bat in hand, and he comes to the aid of the Insiders and Savage, and Monday Nitro goes old school as the show comes to an end with a HUGE brawl taking place in the ring and Tony Schiavone reminding everyone to tune in to WCW New Blood Rising this Sunday night only on pay per view! <strong>(A)</strong></p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Show Rating: B</strong></p><p><strong> TV Rating: 1.41</strong></p><p><strong> Show increased popularity in 10 regions</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44117" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">News and Notes Post-Nitro</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> There were a few noteworthy incidents during and after the final episode of Monday Nitro before New Blood Rising:</p><p> </p><p> While it has been well known for a while now that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair was unhappy about his current position in the company ever since he was asked to put Rey Misterio Jr. over in a match for the United States Championship, this was the first time Flair has allowed his unhappiness to affect his in-ring performances. The feeling was that Flair was barely even trying during his match against Big Vito, and Flair's lack of professionalism during the match has raised some concerns among the higher-ups of WCW. The general feeling is that management still have plans for Flair, but that he isn't exactly helping himself with this kind of behavior.</p><p> </p><p> The other big backstage story coming out of this Nitro concerns an injury that Mark Jindrak suffered during the main event. Reports indicate that Jindrak sustained some broken ribs after a botched move by Kevin Nash which has led to some tension between the two of them. The injury is expected to slow Jindrak down a bit for the next few weeks, but the feeling is that it is nothing too serious and that he won't be missing any time because of it.</p><p> </p><p> We are also getting reports that both Jeff Jarrett and Chuck Palumbo have tested positive for sterioids in recent weeks, and both men have received stern warnings about this.</p><p> </p><p> "Big Poppa Pump" Scott Steiner has gotten some heat with the rest of the locker room after he bragged to everyone who would listen--and to those who wouldn't--about how much money he is making in WCW. Management gave Scott a slap on the wrist as the feeling was that this wasn't a major issue, but still something they would rather be without.</p><p> </p><p> In other, more positive news, "The Total Package" Lex Luger shared some funny road stories with the rest of the locker room which a lot of people seemed to both enjoy and appreciate.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p></div></blockquote>
