Roughly how many years do you let play out before you start a new game?

Recommended Posts

I'm one of those players that loves long long games. I'm currently in a game (of WMMA3), that's been going for 63 years (using my own mod). I love regens as it makes the world really unpredictable as in you never know when someone really good is going to come along and become a huge star.

I know that a lot of players don't really like regens as they don't have the player created more interesting backstory behind them - so wondering how they play the game too.

How long do you usually let games play out (roughly)?

<p>I love longevity, but after the main characters are all gone I start to lose interest. I'm mostly in it for the narrative power of manager sims, not for the 'gaming' aspect as you'll dominate any sport sim anyway eventually. So most of the fun is to enjoy the gameworld unfolding before your eyes.</p><p> </p><p>

I've played manager sims for up to 20 in-game years, but afaik I've never gone further. 60+ is amazing, but I wouldn't enjoy a renderless universe. I guess you can set bars and keep track of records and watch for people to break it, but apart from that there's no "gaming" fun as you've maxed out every possible stat including finances and just continue on.</p><p> </p><p>

I hope other modders do their best to provide a bunch of rendered fighters. I've got a lot of women lined up for WMMA5's release so WEFF players should be good for a long game. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

If there were no pictures coming with each regen I'd lose interest fast. </p><p> </p><p> I sometimes retire from a promotion if I'm bored of being the most dominant company and start one in a different country. That often helps with longevity for me too.</p><p> </p><p> I tend to let my imagination create the backstories to each regen depending on the way they look and by the skills they have and by the results they get, but I'd love if the game was more dynamic with the regen fighters blurbs.</p>

As most have said once the well known fighters have retired saved games start to drag a bit. But i have one game in particular with Strikeforce in 2011 where i started making and importing a significant amount of custom fighters and i was able to stretch it out to 2023ish before starting my own women only promotion which i played to 2033ish. After a long break i've started playing the save again and im up to 2036 and i still very much enjoying the save.

The load times start to get really frustrating in long games. Those, along with the game being an E-Mail Spam Folder Simulator, makes it a lot easier to restart.

The load times and email spam is the main pain in the ass for me, that and the renegotiation are the biggest issues in the game. I predicted that you spend around 1/3 of the time simply renegotiating contracts, this is especially the case when you have several divisions and a global company with several affiliates.

It depends really, if I am actually in charge of an org then I usually last about 5-10 years. Longest I went was from 1998 to 2016 on WMMA 3. Now if i'm just simming through everything and not actually managing an org then I can go on for much longer. My current save, which I just started, is on WMMA 4 from 1982 to 2024 and still going.
