Attendance: 1,946

Wide shot of the record crowd at this new venue. The seating is set up with balanced sections of folding chairs around a ring. The ring itself sits in what appears to be the actual firing range, and the camera pans up to show the night sky, signaling to the viewers at home that tonight’s show is taking place outside. Another scan of the audience, focusing on the video screen and where wrestlers will emerge from backstage. There is no ramp, just a curtain and an aisle leading straight to the ring.

Sparky Sparks:
Welcome ladies and gentlemen! This is ZEN! This is Way of the Healer!

Dustin Thane:
I’m...so...cold.

[
Thane rubs his bare arms with his hands to warm up, and Sparks seems slightly amused by his partner’s discomfort.

The shot of ZEN’s announce team becomes filled with static, before the feed cuts out and is replaced by footage from a security camera.

[
Walking into the Sportsman’s Range from the parking lot, Cyanide enters a dark hallway. Unfamiliar with the venue, the Prince of Poison presses forward, even as he looks around nervously. The security footage switches between different cameras as Cyanide continues on, until a chilling disembodied voice is heard.
]

Halloween Knight:
Oh Cy. Like a lost little lamb.

[
Spinning around, Cyanide finds himself to still be alone in the hallway.
]

Cyanide:
I know it’s you! Why don’t you show yourself and we can have a fair fight?!

Knight:
HA HA HA ha ha HA ha HA HA ha ha ha ha HA!!! Fair?! As if you ever knew the meaning of the word. How many bodies Cy? How many bodies did it take to keep you here?

[
The Prince of Poison is about to respond when an avalanche of dummies engulfs him. Buried under the pile of mannequins, who happen to be dressed as various former ZEN wrestlers, Cyanide squirms then passes out.

The security feed has a brief blip, but when the footage comes back, Halloween Knight is standing over his victim and punctuates the segment with another haunting cackle.

Cut to another area backstage. A very serious looking Kalliope Woodchuck checks the tape on her wrists as she delivers her lines without directly staring into the camera.

[
Her eyes now drifting up to the camera lens, Kalliope continues with her straightforward tone.
]

Kalliope Woodchuck:
Shaolin, whatever lesson you think you’re teaching me, the only thing I’ve learned is that I shouldn’t have trusted you in the first place. You can knock me down, but I’ll get up. Tonight, you’ll learn why there’s nothing more powerful than fighting like a woman.

Match #1: Kalliope Woodchuck vs Shaolin

IYTBAhW.jpgRWTILz0.png?1vf3cqnw.jpg

After the opening segments failed to really ignite the audience, these two had the unenviable challenge of getting the cold crowd from 0 to 60. Thankfully, Kalliope has enough momentum and Shaolin enough heat that they managed to pull it off.

A lot of that had to do with Woodchuck’s growing fan base, and I don’t think the teenage girl quotient of our audience has ever been larger or louder.

Still, that support didn’t mean Kalliope was at her best here, but Shaolin more than made up for that. The ninja has really taken to his new heel persona, and pulled out all the stops with foot stomps, eye pokes, and other assorted dirty tricks.

Despite all of that, Woodchuck refused to give up, fighting back with rage at every turn. She even had Shaolin set up for her Around the World dropkick, but the ninja rolled out of the way at the last second.

Out of sight of the referee, Shaolin slipped on a pair of brass knuckles. When the dazed Kalliope stood up, he leveled her with a punch, causing the knowing crowd to boo loudly.

kkcAnZG.jpg

The ninja even got the pin on his knocked-out opponent, but when Steven Yale lifted up the arm of the apparent victor, the referee felt the brass knuckles on Shaolin’s hand, and immediately reversed his decision to a pop.

Incensed, Shaolin climbed on top of Woodchuck and pummeled her as the bell rang out.

Winner via DQ at 10:14 – Kalliope Woodchuck

Match Rating: D-

</div>

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;">

[
The boos rain down as Shaolin continues to whale away on Kalliope with the brass knuckles. Fire burning in his eyes, the ninja is a completely different man than the ‘Funky Warrior Monk’ the ZEN faithful have come to know and love over the years.
]

Sparks:
This is disgusting. I should…I should do something.

Thane:
Ha, that’s rich! How many men have you watched get beat up like this, and now you want to get involved? I wonder why.

[
While Sparks and Thane continue to bicker, Shaolin is unrelenting in his assault on his former student, culminating with the ninja tearing Woodchuck’s top off. Holding the piece of clothing up as if it were a trophy, Shaolin makes his exit. When Kalliope finally gets to her feet, she does her best to cover herself up while blood trickles down her forehead. Despite her embarrassment over standing in front of nearly 2,000 people in her sports bra, the fans cheer for her like never before.

Shift backstage. Shot over the shoulder of Man O’War as the Hero of the Deep walks down a hallway. Before the green-masked wrestler even reaches his destination, a loud sigh can be heard off camera.

Pumpkin Jack:
What do you want?

[
The orange eyes on Jack’s mask appear narrower than usual, and his body language indicates the Tricky Treat hasn’t forgotten about Man O’War’s failed gambit at Way of the Scholar.
]

Man O’War:
I know. I have much to apologize for. My plan…it did not work out. We have avoided Civil War, but I fear you may no longer trust my dedication to fight for truth and justice.

[
With shoulders sagging, Jack lets out another long sigh.
]

Jack:
Hey, I know you mean well. Just, that was dumb. I mean, really dumb. We need to work together. We can be a really good team if we do.

[
At these words, the Hero of the Deep perks up.
]

Man O’War:
I…I like our team too.

[
Extending his hand, Jack’s painted-on smile turns winsome.
]

Jack:
So what do you say, partners?

[
Barely able to hold back his excitement, Man O’War vigorously shakes Jack’s hand.
]

Man O’War:

Match #2: Pinkie and the Vane vs R & R (Brian Rampage and Paul Reinhold)

CzY0T5v.jpg3aCgDNt.jpgRWTILz0.png?18Nb3dMU.jpgOhVCqve.jpg

And I thought it couldn’t get any worse than Rob Edwards’ debut. At least he could wrestle.

I’m sure I should take some of the blame for having R & R’s first ever match be in front of a live crowd, but man, did the audience ever crap on these two.

I’ll chalk that up to the new fans in attendance. The gimmick here was Rampage played a bumbling putz, frustrating Reinhold, the ultra-serious arch-competitor. It didn’t take long for that act to wear thin, with a good chunk of the crowd chanting ‘This is stupid!’ about three minutes in.

As fortune would have it, Pink Spider was enough of a veteran to cut the match short on the fly, and Pinkie and the Vane took over, dominating the rookies to deny the fans any further opportunities to go into business for themselves.

With R & R coming off as nothing more than jobbers, Trevor hit Reinhold with the Feather Tickler to pick up the win.

[
R & R make a hasty retreat out of sight of the camera while the focus remains on Pinkie and the Vane. Spider and Feather celebrate for a little too long, however, as when they finally decide to head backstage, their journey is interrupted by generic reggae music.

[
At the sight of Jesse Tasman and Lerone Slim, Pinkie and the Vane pretend to retch, and taunt the Good Time Boys by asking Tasman if he’s brought them another surfboard to break. To the stoner’s credit, he ignores Spider and Feather as he passes them, but perhaps it is just because he is too high to notice.

Match #3: Dazzler vs Jesse Tasman w/ Lerone Slim – Tuxedo Match

zvTX39D.jpgRWTILz0.png?1LCCa80a.jpg

9mHVDpD.jpg?1

I’ll admit, Tasman did look pretty funny in his tuxedo shirt. Dazzler had the crowd going too, thanks to his sequined covered get-up, but I had to redirect the camera shot a couple times to avoid anyone watching at home from being blinded.

Obviously, this wasn’t a wrestling clinic, but it did do its job in giving the fans a breather.

ArOX6Q6.jpg

Dazzler even got into it with Lerone at ringside, and the two had a brief dance-off that provided Jesse with a much-needed distraction.

That led to a sustained offensive from the stoner, but it was his choice of outfit that would prove his downfall.

Setting his opponent up for Rip Curl (Attitude Adjustment), Tasman looked to be heading for his first ever victory, but on his way to the mat, Dazzler grabbed hold of Jesse’s shirt, tearing away the top.

Even with the dancing fool flat on his back after receiving Tasman’s finisher, Steven Yale had no choice but to award Dazzler the victory.

Cut backstage. Side shot of Sean Quartermainne, who is watching a live feed of a dazed Dazzler celebrating his win on a monitor. The disgust on the APW commissioner’s face is clear, looking as if someone had just made him swallow a mouthful of vinegar.
]

vsszUxK.jpg

Sean Quartermainne:
This, this is what 2,000 people pay to see? There really is no accounting for taste in this world.

[
Turning towards the camera, Sean spits on the ground before continuing.
]

Quartermainne:
This pathetic freak show is in its last throes. That mask wearing midget is back in the hospital, just what he deserves for daring to challenge the Man Beast, Big Mac McKenzie. And now, the one who is responsible for founding this circus wants a shot at the ZEN Master?

[
The APW commissioner does his best impression of Halloween Knight’s haunting laugh, demonstrating his disdain for the owner of ZEN by rolling his eyes at the end.
]

Quartermainne:
No Grandma of Ghouls stands a chance against 300 pounds of raw, unleashed fury. But you want to try, Halloween Knight? Be my guest. We’ll bury you, just like we’re going to bury this company.

[sean emits another burst of mocking laughter, which ends with him coughing sarcastically.]

Match #4: Auckland’s Finest vs Man O’Lantern

M5xtbFX.jpgkMyFGuS.jpgRWTILz0.png?1kDz8cUU.jpgRttdt16.jpg

If I want to see what Auckland’s Finest are really made of, I need to put them up against the best. Jack and Man O’War will do for now.

There were no bells and whistles to this one, just a regular wrestling match between good guys and bad guys. Buckminster Snark and Booster Boy spent most of the time isolating one of their opponents until a hot tag could be delivered.

Thanks to the presence of Man O’Lantern, the crowd was into this one from the beginning, even though Snark had bribed a couple members of the audience to keep watch over the hijacked Harmony belts.

C4prGMl.jpgYfDN665.jpg

That wad of cash didn’t prevent the Knights Temple from appearing, and when the champions took back their tag titles, the Prime Minster of Buck turned around from his fight with Man O’War to demand a refund from the fans.

With that distraction, Man O’War was able to dive to his corner to tag in Jack, who promptly cleaned house. After delivering successive Orange Bowls to both members of Auckland’s Finest, the Tricky Treat tossed the legal Snark over his head with the PumpkinHandle Suplex then covered his opponent while SubUrban Legend and Killer B looked on with smiles on their faces.

Winners via Pinfall at 9:40 – Man O’Lantern

[
Quick shot of Jack celebrating with Man O’War then back to the Knights Temple.

bDNW17S.jpgQXZldZ5.jpgdHNqjGy.jpg

[
The Harmony champions turn to head to the back only to find Guru Vishni and Warp-Jump standing in front of the curtain. Experiencing déjà vu, Legend and Killer B learn from last month and stand in place, telling their long-time rivals that they have no business being out here. Before it can really get started, the conversation is abruptly ended when Auckland’s Finest attack the champions from behind. Rushing to the scene, HalloWarped and Toady find that the enemy of their enemy is their friend, and join in on the beat down of the Knights Temple. Cut away to Man O’Lantern standing in the ring. Jack and Man O’War exchange a few brief words, then come to the rescue of the Harmony champs.

[
While the eight men battle, Steven Yale stumbles his way into the melee. Instead of breaking up the fight, the referee pats the ground for the discarded title belts, crawling out of the scrum with the gold. After saying he is going to hold the titles for safe keeping, Yale tries to head to the timekeeper’s area, but walks into the crowd instead.

Match #5: Damian Dastardly © vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle vs Vertigo w/ Molly Cuddle – For the ZEN Conceptual Title

jyBDBNa.jpgRWTILz0.png?1OjM2wyB.jpgRWTILz0.png?1fDaOeX8.jpg

cizqHDw.jpg

The set up for this one was all in place to keep telling the story of the rivalry between these three. Damian came out first, his usual grinning self, to let the audience know that the ONLY champion that matters wouldn’t let something as silly as a love triangle stop his fifteen-month-long reign.

The Sky Kings then followed, still presenting a unified front, though Super Zero had placed himself at the center of the trio, with Molly at his left and Vertigo on his right.

When Zero and Vertigo slid into the ring, Steven Yale called for the bell, but Dastardly immediately bailed to the outside. Informing the Sky Kings that they could fight it out, Damian instead had to run when Zero and Vertigo pursued him.

The fight finally commencing in the ring, Damian had to withstand a sustained two-on-one attack. Despite his best efforts to split the Sky Kings with constant taunts about Cuddle, Dastardly only received a breather when he rolled out of the way of a dropkick from Zero, causing the Expressionless Wonder to hit Vertigo instead.

Not waiting for his partner to offer up any excuses, an angry Artist of the Airways turned his attention to battling Zero, transforming the match into a true three-way conflict.

With all involved putting in good performances, the fight culminated with Zero tossing Vertigo over the top rope then taking down the Conceptual champion with flying head scissors.

After hitting Dastardly with SubZero, the Expressionless Wonder looked to have the match won, but his partner climbed back into the ring and broke up the attempted pin with Radar Love to the back of Zero’s head.

With a cocky smile beaming from under his mask, Vertigo covered Zero, but just for added insurance, the Artist of the Airways put his feet up on the middle rope for leverage.

E50nucy.jpg

All appeared to be going according to plan until Molly intervened, shouting out to Steven Yale about Vertigo’s cheating.

kkcAnZG.jpg

Stopping his count right before he could slap the mat for the third time, the referee touched Vertigo’s elevated legs and waived off the pin.

Springing to his feet, Vertigo leaned over the ropes to yell at Molly, which left him open to Dastardly Cunning from the recovered champion. Wasting no time, Damian covered the Artist of the Airways to retain his title.

[
Close up on a relieved Dastardly as Steven Yale raises the champion’s arm. Switching on his malevolent grin, Damian heads to the outside before either member of the Sky Kings can get to their feet. Entering the ring, Molly checks on her husband first and then her client, but when she kneels next to a rising Vertigo, the Artist of the Airways pushes her away. The shove is so strong that Cuddle falls backwards, but the now standing Vertigo continues to berate her for costing him the match. Molly apologizes profusely, but that is not good enough for her client, who bends over to yank Cuddle up by her arm. Still holding his manager by her wrist, Vertigo is in the midst of another bout of yelling when Zero steps in. After pulling his wife away from his partner, the Expressionless Wonder gets into Vertigo’s face, barking at him to back off. The Artist of the Airways balls up his fists, but after taking a moment to collect himself, tells Zero and Cuddle he is sorry, adding that he let Dastardly get to him.

Main Event: ‘Big Mac’ Nathan McKenzie © w/ Sean Quartermainne vs Halloween Knight – For the ZEN Master Title

3Vy0rzq.jpgRWTILz0.png?1LolPu2d.jpg

IyMePxX.jpg

The set up for this one was strange, but it sure did deliver.

I seem to be doing more heel vs heel match-ups lately, and here it was up to the crowd to decide who they would back. It took awhile, but our die-hard fans swung to HK, while the newer members of the audience began cheering for Mac’s offense. I guess APW does have some followers in New Zealand after all.

Of course, that wasn’t the only oddity about this match. Despite their muscular builds, these two set out to deliver a fast-paced all-time classic, with HK augmenting his technical prowess with aerial assaults in a style that would befitting any top Japanese Super Junior.

McKenzie played his part to perfection as well, selling the lingering effects of his bump through the stage last month. That meant HK enjoyed more offense against the ZEN Master than anyone else had so far, but Big Mac would always rally through his power.

vsszUxK.jpg

From ringside, Quartermainne tried to get into HK’s head by denigrating ZEN, but the Godfather of Ghouls would only retort ‘I concur!’ to each insult before letting out another burst of cackling.

As the battle went on, Big Mac started to become unnerved by HK’s peculiarity. That included the owner of ZEN no-selling a barrage of punches, then asking the champion if he wanted to see what the Other Side was like.

The fight only turned in the ZEN Master’s favor when Nathan delivered a hard right hand to his opponent’s face that was so strong it cracked HK’s death mask. Twitching, the Godfather of Ghouls stumbled around the ring, all while trying to remove the reminder of Jester from his face.

Remaining in a defensive posture as if he believed HK was only trying to draw him into a trap, McKenzie waited out the challenger writhing on the canvas before finally picking up the owner of ZEN for the Big Mac Attack. Audibly exhaling a large burst of breath, HK let out laughs full of pain while continuing to twitch as the cautious champion pinned his shoulders to the mat.

Follow Halloween Knight as he rolls out of the ring. His fingers digging into the side of his cracked death mask, the owner of ZEN howls before composing himself. Standing up straight, Knight cackles in the direction of Big Mac, who looks as perplexed as ever. Once the Godfather of Ghouls has completely disappeared backstage, Sean Quartermainne climbs into the ring with microphone in hand.
]

Sean Quartermainne:
What did we tell you?! Big Mac McKenzie has conquered all! There is no one in ZEN that has been able to stand up to the Man Beast! The owner of this company is a headcase, your biggest ‘hero’ is in the hospital
again
, what a joke. There is no one here, in Australia, in the world that can stop my client, so don’t even bother! Because if you do, you'll become…

[
Holding the microphone up to McKenzie, the APW commissioner ignores the annoyed tone in the voice of the champion.
]

Nathan McKenzie:
…just another victim served.

[
While continuing to loudly taunt the ZEN faithful, Quartermainne smiles as he holds open the ropes for Big Mac. The pair head to the back, but when Sean tells McKenzie to turn around to take a mocking bow at the crowd, Devilfish rushes out from behind the curtain.
]

8wi7YX3.jpg

[
To a massive pop, the Master of Mischief batters the ZEN Master to the sound of Quartermainne’s disbelief. Benefiting from the element of surprise, and the chair he picks up, Devilfish fights Nathan all the way to the ring before knocking the champion to the ground. Climbing to the top rope, the Man in the Multi-Colored Mask pauses to stoke the audience’s anticipation before leaping. Connecting with his Firework Moonsault on McKenzie, Devilfish pops up, shouting at the camera that he wants one more shot at the ZEN Master title as the show comes to a close.

Card for Way of the Philosopher

r2aVvt9.jpg

[
Back office. Sportsman's Range. Two hours before Way of the Philosopher. Paul Massey sits behind a fold-out table, shifting uncomfortably in a worn chair that has seen better days. Massey appears to be studying a piece of paper when two figures appear in his doorway.
]

Kalliope Woodchuck:
Paul, do you have a minute?

IYTBAhW.jpgLCCa80a.jpg

[
Massey looks up from his booking plans and finds Kalliope Woodchuck and Jesse Tasman standing in front of him. The couple have their arms intertwined, and upon seeing them, the booker's expression immediately turns dour.
]

Jesse Tasman:
Mister Massey, sir, we have some, like, awesome news, and we want you to be the first one to hear it.

[
The excitement of Tasman and Woodchuck bubbles to the surface as they jitter with nervous energy.
]

Please don't tell me you're getting married.

Woodchuck:
After all, without you, we would have never even met.

Don't be stupid Kalliope.

Tasman:
We can never repay you for everything you've done for us.

I should ring your stupid, surfer neck Jesse.

Woodchuck:
Well, the big news is...

Kalliope, you're going to win the Conceptual title at Way of the Warrior. Think of your career.

[
Massey's eyes survey the couple, and for the first time, he notices the thin piece of plastic in Kalliope's hands, while Tasman grips several cigars.
]

Woodchuck and Tasman:
We're pregnant!!!

Bugger.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am adamant he is holding that title until Kalliope is ready. (Who I think gets her push derailed when she gets pregnant.)

This is THE prediction of this diary so far!

I had planned on having this interlude be a little later on, but considering the stuff coming up, it was really the only way I could fit it in. Obviously this shakes up the booking plans I did have for Kalliope, but whether it results in a de-push for her (or her baby daddy), we'll just have to wait and see. ;)

The only perk to missing a month of this was getting to read it all at once. On a train. To Dublin. On my way to a real life OTT show. Amazing read throughout. That's not a surprise but it is super impressive.

Thanks Dar for the kind words! Somewhat ironic that most of this gets written while I'm riding on a train. :)

Glad that everything held together when done in a single go. I think once it's over I'll go back and re-read it all to see if I accomplished everything I set out to.

Hope the OTT show was a good one too. It looked to be a packed card, but even if it wasn't, you can take comfort that you came this close to getting 100% correct in your predictions. ;)

And speaking of the predictions, congrats to DAVEFAN95 for another perfect score! That spot in the HoF seems more and more secure. :D

I was glad to see some divide in the predictions for certain matches. I think that has a lot to do with feuds starting, as well as things being up in the air four shows out from Way of the Warrior.

Kalliope Woodchuck vs Shaolin

Kalliope is never allowed to lose. Also f*** Shaolin.

Haha, yeah. This was a way for Kalliope to get her win, but in a way that keeps the feud going. And damn, Shaolin's got the heel heat now.

Okay, let me explain my reasoning: Shaolin seems to really be dedicated to getting under Kalliope's skin, I'm betting he's going to use her feelings against her -perhaps getting her DQ'd.

This would have been a good way to go, but as you can tell now, before the pregnancy announcement, the plan was to build Kalliope up for a Conceptual title run. It's also similar to a finish coming up, so I'm trying not to have to many of those. ;)

Pinkie and the Vane vs R & R (Brian Rampage and Paul Reinhold)

New guys job early

Pretty much. Spider and Feather are trending up, but this didn't do much for them since Rampage and Reinhold were so awful. It'll be awhile before R & R get on the card again.

Tuxedo Match

Dazzler vs Jesse Tasman w/ Lerone Slim

Dazzler needs to get some momentum back

Dazzler's definitely in that holding pattern where I don't want his momentum to get knocked down too far, but he's not getting a push. At least the match was decent, and Tasman is starting to show some promise.

Dazzler has more experience with tearing off clothes...granted it's mostly tear-away pants but the principle is the same!

Haha, nearly wrote those tear away pants into the match, but wasn't sure if that would count as losing? :D

Auckland’s Finest vs Man O’Lantern

Going with the vets as this feels like a match just to keep them occupied this month

That's what it boiled down to. Obviously, Man O'Lantern have a story now, so this was a way to get them involved in that while also having AF go toe-to-toe with wrestlers from the main event/upper midcard.

This again could be the case where Auckland are handed a loss but come out gaining momentum. But screw that, back the kids while Man O'Lantern develops issues.

I wasn't sure if the segment with Pumpkin Jack and Man O'War would make it seem like a swerve-turn was coming from Jack, but that was the hope. You can call this a non-swerve swerve. :p

For the ZEN Conceptual Title

Damian Dastardly © vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle vs Vertigo w/ Molly Cuddle

This *could* be the moment when Dastardly drops the strap and moves up the card but I think he retains and the other two take another step to complete breakdown in their relationship.

It doesn't get more spot on than this. There were a couple items for the checklist for this match, and while I could have had Damian drop the belt here without him having to eat the pin, the Sky Kings story doesn't really need the title at this point.

Dastardly has to be the winner here, losing to one of these guys drops Dastardly in my opinion

Whenever Dastardly does finally drop the belt, I'm not sure how I'm going to avoid it being a let down at this point with Kalliope out of the picture. But, winning this match, however it happened, does help build up Damian even more. Not only is he on the same level as Zero and Vertigo, I would say he was the main attraction here, even with the Sky Kings/Cuddle storyline.

THE SPLIT FINALLY HAPPENS!?!!?!! Dastardly is too good to lose to either man.

Haha, came pretty close there. Either Zero or Vertigo would make a good transitional champion, but you're right that Damian has elevated the belt to a point where there's not really that many others who can take it on.

‘Big Mac’ Nathan McKenzie © w/ Sean Quartermainne vs Halloween Knight

Truthfully, I could see HK winning this, I'd be very very happy, however, I'm going to go with the big heel win here, just cause I've lost my belief in Zen stars beating the Big Mac

Happiness is very fleeting. :D

Of course, HK was booked the strongest of anyone against Mac so far. The lingering effects of the bump at the end of the last show gives the champ an out for that, but I'm hoping he is starting to look vulnerable. By the split picks here, I think he is.

HK has a feud ready and waiting with Cyanide. Big Mac might have a feud with Devilfish to continue. However Big Mac's feud somewhat relies on him having the title.

That's a very good point. The issue between Devilfish and Mac revolves around the belt, and with them having such off the charts chemistry, I want them to keep being the main event as well.

I'm gonna call the draw here. I think that HK was built up too strongly at the end of the last show to shoot his load and lose here. I predict CHAOS and lots of it.

I actually went through several iterations of writing this match before settling on the one I did with HK's cracked mask being the decider. A lot of that had to do with how strong HK has been portrayed, and wanting to make him still seem dangerous even though Mac beats him (relatively) clean. The other drafts saw a lot more chaos going on, and HK just straight up going beserk, but I can always save that for another time. :p

<p><strong>For the ZEN Harmony Tag Team Titles</strong></p><p>

Auckland’s Finest vs <strong>The Knights Temple ©</strong></p><p> </p><p>

While I think Auckland's Finest are the next Tag-Team champions but I don't think they are ready yet. </p><p> </p><p>

The Good Time Boys vs <strong>Pinkie and the Vane</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Considering the Tag-Team landscape I would say that The Good Time Boys are probably the second face tag-team really as I see Man O'Lantern being above the division. It will be nice once they are built up more and either progress in the division when The Knights Temple move on eventually. (If they get the chance in the diary.) However Jesse Tasman could turn into the Face that Kalliope was going to be. I dont see Kalliope making it to her promised grounds of Conceptual Champion until after her baby. </p><p> </p><p>

Though Massey could be vindictive to a point as he is "in love" or at the very least sees Kalliope like a daughter. However Tasman could be forced to fill that role now as there isn't anyone else. </p><p> </p><p>

Honestly I think I am most invested in how Dastardly, gets handled now. Because there isn't someone viable for him to lose the title to. Pumpkin Jack, Devilfish, and Cyanide are all above the title. That it causes the same problem as Dastardly holding it.</p><p> </p><p>

Super Zero, Vertigo have something else going on, and while I don't see Zero as the man to dethrone Dastardly I am sure he will get a title run. Man O'War had his chance and as mentioned is a gatekeeper. He could pick it up in a Triple Threat or something though. Everyone else is so far beneath Dastardly it isn't funny. </p><p> </p><p>

So aside from those mentioned Knights Temple could become an option if they split. But again carrying the tag division as the only decent face team. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Cyanide</strong> vs Dazzler</p><p> </p><p>

Cyanide with a decent and easy win. </p><p> </p><p>

Azazel vs<strong> Kalliope Woodchuck</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Don't think she gets written off this week. I think that gets saved for a final face off with Shaolin. Though he could gain real heat for destroying her after the match. </p><p>

Damian Dastardly © </strong>vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle and Vertigo</p><p> </p><p>

Covered my spiel before with Dastardly. He is becoming a problem as he is far above the rest of the midcard. If he drops the title, I could see him winning the ZEN Master Title at the end of the diary. But he isn't dropping it to Super Zero and all the group's infighting. </p><p> </p><p>

Again I am so invested in the midcard at the moment.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Title vs Mask - Cage Classic Match for the ZEN Master Title</strong></p><p>

‘Big Mac’ Nathan McKenzie © w/ Sean Quartermainne vs <strong>Devilfish</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Was the hero beaten down? Check.</p><p>

Was someone close to the hero beaten down? Check. </p><p>

Was the damn owner of the company beaten? Check.</p><p>

Is the Monster unstoppable? Check. </p><p>

Is this a must win match? Check. </p><p> </p><p>

Now, this time.. this time every box is ticked. Plus I can't see Devilfish being ever unmasked let alone at this point of his career. I mean a dusty finish may occur but no, this is Devilfish's time.</p>

<p>The Knights Temple</p><p> </p><p>

<em>It could go either way. I say that TKT should keep the belts as they've kind of being bouncing around the place.</em></p><p><em>

Let's keep them on the temple for now. </em></p><p> </p><p>

Pinkie and the Vane</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Easy for me. Pinkie has been a forgotten part of your mid card, he could turn, not sure though, Tasman is probably gonna be battered for his role in Kalliopes situation. Hopefully she's happy with it though. I love Kalliope</em></p><p> </p><p>

Cyanide </p><p> </p><p>

<em>Squashers. Cyanide needs something to do as he's been frightfullingly in the background as of late</em></p><p> </p><p>

Kalliope Woodchuck</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Hopefully Azazel is willing to bump around her to protect her as much as possible.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Damian Dastardly </p><p> </p><p>

<em>only one winner here. I feel Dastardly has brought the conceptual title up to the point where he could say both titles on the line winner takes all, how funny would that be. Where the Zen master champ would be like why would I put my real belt against your non existent one.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Devilfish</p><p> </p><p>

<em>You take away the title v mask stop and I say Mac wins. I don't actually think Devilfish will win the title there will be some kind of shenanigans and somehow mac keeps the belt. We'll see but surely, surely devilfish will keep his awesome mask. </em></p>

I'm not sure if Cyanide is a bit player in HK's story or if there is a roundabout way for him to come back and come out on top. This one he should win easily though.

Azazel vs Kalliope Woodchuck

I wonder how you're going to handle Kalliope's pregnancy. I suspect she'll win here, but get brutally attacked afterwards and go on an extended leave to recover from her "injuries". It's a shame when a big push gets derailed, but it'll be interesting to see what the contingency plan is.

Overhead shot from a drone of the sold-out crowd before cutting to ZEN’s announce team.

Sparky Sparks:
Welcome one and all to Way of the Philosopher, especially those watching at home on Australia Options! We are honored to bring you ZEN’s first ever pay-per-view, and our main event tonight should be one for the ages.

[
Focus on Dustin Thane, who lips curl as if he has just been forced to suck on a lemon.
]

zS4HY5a.jpg

Dustin Thane:
It’s a travesty, that’s what it is. Everyone, including you Sparky, got upset when Shaolin attacked Kalliope. You called him a monster. But Devilfish ambushes the Man Beast, Big Mac McKenzie, from behind, I might add, and he gets rewarded? How is that fair?

Sparks:
It’s about as fair as McKenzie driving Devilfish through the stage after their match, or putting Lone Shark through a table. Heck, how about all those times Sean Quartermainne interfered on Nathan’s behalf? I don’t see you mentioning those.

Thane:
Oh, so two wrongs make a right? An eye for an eye? Is that what you’re saying?!

Sparks:
Yes!

Thane:
You know what…

[
Before the announcers can continue their argument, bubbly pop music begins to play.
]

[
The ZEN faithful have a hunch who this new music is supposed to herald, but they hold their cheers until the Master of Mischief finally walks out from behind the curtain.
]

Thane:
Speak of the Devil, um, Fish.

8wi7YX3.jpg

[
The Man in the Multi-Colored Mask bashfully acknowledges the loud pop he receives before heading to the ring. With microphone in hand, Devilfish waits out another round of cheers.
]

Devilfish:
Thank you, thank you. You don’t know how much it means to be here, and to see all of you. After Nathan McKenzie sent me through that stage two months ago, I had doctors telling me I might never wrestle again. But all I’ve done my entire career is prove those kinds of people wrong. I did it when I became the youngest ZEN Master in history, and I’ll do it again tonight when I beat the unbeatable! I…

[
Just as his words are reaching their emotional crescendo, the Master of Mischief is cut off by the thumping beats of
. The champion enters Sportsman’s Range with a scowling Sean Quartermainne at his side, and Big Mac holds his hand up to keep his manager from speaking first.
]

3Vy0rzq.jpgvsszUxK.jpg

Nathan McKenzie:
Little man, you can talk all you want, but only one thing is going to happen tonight. We’re going to step in that ring, Steven Yale is going to close that cage door, and I’m going to end your career.

[
Despite their love for Devilfish, the crowd can’t help but be intimidated by the weight of the words contained in the ZEN Master’s direct delivery.
]

McKenzie:
I
demanded
we have a cage match, that way no one can stop me when I slam your body into the mat again and again and again. I’ve got nothing left to prove in this company, so once I’ve broken you, I’m going to walk out of that ring with this title and your mask as trophies for my mantle. This is my last night in ZEN, and it’s going to be yours too, little man.

[
Dropping his microphone, Nathan stares at his rival, and even with the distance between the two, the force of Big Mac’s glare is enough to make Devilfish to take a step back.

Match #1: Auckland’s Finest vs The Knights Temple – For the ZEN Harmony Tag Team Titles

M5xtbFX.jpgkMyFGuS.jpgRWTILz0.png?1YfDN665.jpgC4prGMl.jpg

rjjvkyF.jpgrjjvkyF.jpg

This match was a bit like driving a pair of sportscars in a school zone. These two teams are both more than capable of stealing the show, but this was more of a feeling out process in their first ever face-off.

kkcAnZG.jpg

The set-up was that after Devilfish and Nathan McKenzie returned to the back, Steven Yale retrieved the Harmony title belts he requisitioned last month and asked both teams to come out to settle their dispute over ownership of the gold.

The Knights Temple appeared less than pleased about being asked to defend their titles when this all started with Booster Boy and Buckminster Snark stealing the belts, but there was no reluctance in how the champions attacked their opponents.

With both teams displaying their usual inter-squad chemistry, this made for a quick back and forth affair, but once again, the cockiness of Auckland’s Finest cost them.

The challengers had the Knights Temple back on their heels, and Booster appeared to have the match won after hitting Legend with Moon Landing, but instead of going for the pin right away, the young upstart high-fived his partner to celebrate first.

Only realizing what they had done once Steven Yale refused to count Booster’s cover on Legend, Auckland’s Finest argued with the referee that they didn’t mean to make the tag. Yale waived off their claims at each shout, and the anger of the challengers only served to give Killer B the opportunity to intervene on his partner’s behalf.

Delivering successive B-Stings to Snark and Booster, the Off the Rack Attack dragged his partner over to the Prime Minster of Buck, then draped Legend’s arm over the challenger for the pin.

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;">

[
After Killer B helps SubUrban Legend to his feet, the Knights Temple only get a few moments to celebrate retaining their titles before Auckland’s Finest recover and attack them from behind.
]

[
As Booster and Snark are laying into the Harmony champions, Warp-Jump run out from backstage, with Guru Vishni not far behind. Guru tosses strands of flowers into the crowd, who despite his blessings continue to boo.
]

Sparks:
Oh come on! As if Auckland’s Finest weren't already poor enough sports, Warp-Jump have to join in too…again?!

Thane:
Maybe someone should reward them with a title match.

kDz8cUU.jpgRttdt16.jpg

[
With this being the third show in a row with a similar attack on Legend and Killer B, the audience finds themselves not as interested as in previous months, even as Man O’Lantern sprint out to the rescue. Bowling over Vishni as they enter the ring, Pumpkin Jack and Man O’War clean house of the two heel teams then stand guard over the recovering Knights Temple.

Match #2: The Good Time Boys vs Pinkie and the Vane

LCCa80a.jpgArOX6Q6.jpgRWTILz0.png?1CzY0T5v.jpg3aCgDNt.jpg

You know, once word about Kalliope’s pregnancy started spreading around backstage, I began hearing rumors that I was going to punish Jesse for, I don’t really know what.

Honestly, I’m kind of insulted. People must really not have anything better to do than gossip. I’m not quite sure what they’re trying to insinuate, but I don’t blame Tasman for what’s happened. He’s continuing the long wrestling tradition of latching on to someone that’s getting a push, in the hopes that some of that goodwill rubs off on them.

I mean, I admire his moxie. Of course, that doesn’t change the fact that his performance was shit here, and that’s an unbiased opinion, I swear.

As for the match, both members of Pinkie and the Vane did well, and I really should find something better for them to do. Oh well. At least Spider got to end the proceedings by hitting Tasman with Arachnophobia before pinning the basta…I mean stoner.

Winners via Pinfall at 8:15 – Pinkie and the Vane

Match Rating: D

</div>

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;">

[
Cut away from the gloating Pinkie and the Vane to a backstage hallway. Damian Dastardly approaches a camera, fixing his hair through his reflection in the lens before he signals for the cameraman to follow him. With a grin on his face, Damian walks into a room where the Sky Kings and Molly Cuddle sit in silence. The tension between the trio is palpable, which Dastardly breaks by clearing his throat.
]

jyBDBNa.jpg

Damian Dastardly:
Good day to one and all!

OjM2wyB.jpgfDaOeX8.jpgE50nucy.jpg

[
Immediately jumping to their feet, Super Zero and Vertigo appear ready to take out their frustrations on Damian, who forms a cross with his index fingers as he backs away slightly.
]

Dastardly:
God, you guys are SO predictable. And here I am, the bearer of good news.

Vertigo:
Bro, you’re not welcome here! Can’t you see we’re in the middle of something?!

[
Turning towards the camera, Damian raises an eyebrow questioningly before responding to the Artist of the Airways.
]

Dastardly:
Yes, I’m sure of THAT. I just wanted to let you know that I have to face one of you tonight. It seems some dweeb in the back office doesn’t recognize the greatness of the ONLY champion that matters. He thinks I’ve just been lucky in getting win after win after win, or some other bollocks. So that means…

[
Alternating his gaze between the two members of the Sky Kings several times, the Conceptual champion’s eyes eventually stop on the Expressionless Wonder.
]

Dastardly:
…you get another shot, Less than Zero. Congrats.

[
Turning his attention back to Vertigo, Damian delivers his parting shot.
]

Dastardly:
You’ve always been beneath me anyway, BRO.

Match #3: Cyanide vs Dazzler

4vZV2lN.jpgRWTILz0.png?1zvTX39D.jpg

This was about as odd a clash of styles as you can get.

Cyanide was still smarting from HK’s mannequin-fueled avalanche last month, and aimed to take out his frustrations on Dazzler. The Prince of Poison largely succeeded, tying the dancing fool into knots with various submission holds, but Dazzler actually sounded as if he was enjoying the punishment.

Usually, the kinds of noises Dazzler was making would be off-putting, but the crowd found them hilarious, thanks to the dancing fool’s comedic timing. Of course, Cyanide was very disturbed by these, uh, grunts, which allowed Dazzler to fight back with a bit of offense.

After weathering his opponent’s rhythmic attacks, the Prince of Poison refocused on winning the match, and pinned the dancing fool after hitting Dazzler with the Skull Splitter.

Not appearing pleased with his victory, Cyanide quickly makes his out of the ring while Dazzler is still down on the mat. Emerging from the back with the remainder of the shattered weapon in his hands, Halloween Knight surveys the fallen Cyanide then cackles.

Match #4: Azazel vs Kalliope Woodchuck

jvSlHFB.jpgRWTILz0.png?1IYTBAhW.jpg

What a waste.

You would think that after all the time and effort I’ve poured into building Kalliope, she would have some appreciation for all I’ve done for her, but the only thanks I get is her messing up the opportunity of a lifetime.

Now I’ve got to scramble to come up with a new match for Damian at Way of the Warrior, and that’s before I even start thinking about how I’m going to protect Woodchuck in her matches before she goes on maternity leave.

Considering she’s no more than a month into her pregnancy right now, that would put the start date of her leave at sometime around the end of September. I’ll try to keep her in-ring work to a minimum ahead of that, but I’ve still got stories to tell, even if that involves making someone in their third trimester wrestle.

Oh yeah, the match? What do you think happened? Kalliope dominated, and pinned Azazel after her Around the World dropkick. I’m angry, not crazy.

Winner via Pinfall at 7:41 – Kalliope Woodchuck

Match Rating: D-

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;">

While Azazel makes an inauspicious exit, Kalliope shows love for the crowd by taking a lap around the ring to high-five as many fans as she can.

[
When Woodchuck finishes celebrating with the audience, she looks up to find Shaolin standing stoically under the video screen. Anger and resentment immediately washing over her face, Kalliope shouts at her former teacher, then charges. As Woodchuck rushes towards him, Shaolin remains still as a statue, his hands behind his back. It is only when Kalliope closes within a foot of the ninja that Shaolin reveals the bucket that he is holding and douses Woodchuck in a brown viscous liquid that the loudly booing fans can, at best, hope is mud. Paralyzed by shock, Kalliope can only stand in place as she wipes the crud from out of her eyes. That is, until Shaolin drops a smoke bomb that leaves his humiliated former pupil behind to choke on the gray fog.

Match #5: Damian Dastardly © vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle and Vertigo – For the ZEN Conceptual Title

jyBDBNa.jpgRWTILz0.png?1OjM2wyB.jpg

cizqHDw.jpg

Considering this was the best match of Damian’s career to date, I have to give myself a pat on the back for booking him against Zero in this one instead of Vertigo. Like that jerk deserves more of the spotlight than he already hogs.

E50nucy.jpg

Once again, the internal strife in the Sky Kings drove the story, and Dastardly was excellent in catcalling Molly to drive the wedge further between her husband and her client. I mean, the kid can steal the show whenever he wants, but forcing him to learn the finer points of storytelling in this feud has been the right way to get him ready for the main event.

The fight still remained even throughout, and the frenetic pace brought the crowd to their feet on multiple occasions. That became especially true when the Expressionless Wonder looked like he might just win the match after setting the Conceptual champion up for SubZero, but Dastardly rolled out of the way of the finisher.

Luckily for Zero, he anticipated his opponent’s last second maneuver and landed on his feet. When Damian then tried to grab the challenger for Dastardly Cunning, the Expressionless Wonder was able to counter the move and send the champion flying over the top rope.

Landing at the feet of Molly and Vertigo, Damian looked up at the pair and told them they made a cute couple. To bring the Artist of the Airways’ blood to a full boil, Dastardly continued by telling Vertigo his plan to have C-W-A kidnap Molly to win her affection had really worked out.

fDaOeX8.jpg

Turning his back on the furious Sky King, Damian counted out the beats while Vertigo grabbed a chair, then promptly ducked when the Artist of the Airways took a swing at his head with the weapon.

Instead of hitting Dastardly’s skull, the steel clanked against the ring post, but the Conceptual champion flopped to the ground anyway. Rolling around in agony, Damian loudly moaned that Vertigo had hit him.

kkcAnZG.jpg

Squinting, Steven Yale spotted the outline of the chair still in Vertigo’s hands and called for the bell.

Winner via DQ at 11:45 and Still ZEN Conceptual Champion – Damian Dastardly

Match Rating: C- (56)

<div style="border: solid 5px #000000;">

[
Jumping back to his feet as soon as the official decision is announced, Damian raises his arms in victory and does a lap around the ring. Dastardly continues his mock celebration on his way to the back just as Zero goes to the outside. Spinning Vertigo around, the Expressionless Wonder demands his partner explain what he was thinking. Despite the Artist of the Airways best excuses, Zero does not appear to forgive him, grabbing Molly by the wrist and shoving his way past Vertigo. The Artist of the Airways takes a moment to process this disrespect, then snaps. Jumping his partner from behind, Vertigo beats Zero to the ground over the screams of Cuddle. As the crowd boos, Vertigo releases everything that has been building up inside of him, punctuating the assault by smashing the chair repeatedly over the Expressionless Wonder’s head. Cut back to Damian standing in front of the curtain, watching the entire scene play out with a wide grin on his face.

Pausing to lovingly caress the mask on his face, the Master of Mischief returns his focus to the camera.
]

Devilfish:
I chose this mask because I knew its bright colors would make me stand out. I knew wearing this would give me nowhere to hide. I couldn’t just be a wallflower. I needed to struggle if I wanted to be strong.

[
As he steps forward, turning the shot into a close-up, Devilfish’s voice is as serious as ever.
]

Devilfish:
But Nathan McKenzie doesn’t know anything about that. He’s never had to struggle. When you’re 300 pounds, you can bully your way to the top. You can beat people up, overpower them, because that’s what you do. But that’s not who I am. Every fight I’ve ever had, every battle, has been leading to this moment. I won’t stop until that man is no longer ZEN Master, and if it takes giving up who I am to defend this company, then so be it.

With Devilfish now in the ring,
music booms into the night air once again, triggering a cascade of boos from the audience. There are no fireworks this time, just sound bites from ZEN’s announce team spanning Big Mac’s career in the company. As McKenzie stands in front of the curtain with Sean Quartermainne, the highlights broadcast become louder and louder, and begin to focus on the impact of the Big Mac Attack. Bodies slam against canvas, go through tables, and smash through a metal stage, Devilfish flinching at every beat. As the ZEN Master walks towards the ring, he never takes his eyes off his rival, all while Quartermainne continues to stoke the red-hot hate of the fans with jabs about their stupidity, weight and overall ugliness.

Main Event: ‘Big Mac’ Nathan McKenzie © w/ Sean Quartermainne vs Devilfish – Title vs Mask – Cage Classic Match for the ZEN Master Title

IyMePxX.jpg

I had to watch this one from the curtain, a monitor just wouldn't do it justice.

The buzz in the crowd was palpable from the start, and a lot of that had to do with a majority of the fans fully expecting a title change to occur. The build up for that was certainly there, and my guess is the ‘Title vs Mask’ stipulation sealed that sentiment. In this business, it usually pays off to go with the path of least resistance, but…

Having already wrestled each other twice before, the chemistry between Mac and Devilfish meant that these two knew what the other one wanted to do without even having to say it. This resulted in the greatest performance of McKenzie’s career, while Devilfish sealed a new level of support from our fans.

The pace from their previous matches was still there, but this was a more bruising affair, even compared to the Last Man Standing match. The cage walls became sources of blunt force trauma, but facing a more powerful opponent, the Master of Mischief still managed to dole out as much punishment as he received.

vsszUxK.jpg

Pacing at ringside like an expectant father, Sean Quartermainne cursed Devilfish anytime the challenger rallied, but soon that vitriol turned to criticizing McKenzie for not finishing off the Man in the Multi-Colored Mask.

Even though he appeared highly annoyed by the words of his manager, the APW commissioner’s taunts did seem to inspire the ZEN Master to new levels of brutality.

After busting open Devilfish with repeated punches and slams into the cage wall, Nathan went for the Big Mac Attack, but the Master of Mischief reversed the finisher into a DDT to a pop.

With the crowd on their feet, Devilfish climbed to the top turnbuckle and positioned himself to deliver his Firework Moonsault. Just as he was about to leap, the challenger grabbed his eyes in pain, a beer having been thrown into face. When the camera panned to reveal Quartermainne as the source of the interference, the fans were already booing so loudly that Sparky Sparks and Dustin Thane could barely hear themselves argue.

Getting back to his feet, the ZEN Master snatched Devilfish from his perch and slammed him into the mat with the Big Mac Attack. Not done, Nathan picked up his rival for another Big Mac Attack, and then another. As the boos continued to rain down, McKenzie confidently placed his foot on Devilfish’s chest for the pin.

…but Devilfish got a shoulder up!

Apoplectic, Quartermainne nearly jumped out of his shoes at the match not being over, while McKenzie blinked several times in disbelief before grabbing the challenger to resume his assault. Dragging Devilfish back to the turnbuckle then up the cage wall, the ZEN Master placed himself at the top of the cage with the Man in the Multi-Colored Mask in his arms.

Roaring ‘Just another victim served!’ as the audience held their breath, Nathan bent his knees in preparation for a Big Mac Attack from fifteen feet up. At the last moment, Devilfish sprung back to life, countering into a hurricanrana that sent a 300-pound man flying down to the mat. Landing flat on his back, McKenzie shook the ring with his weight, while the Master of Mischief just managed to hold on to the top of the cage by his fingertips.

Perching himself back on top of the cage wall, Devilfish signaled for the Firework Moonsault, and when he leapt, time seemed to stand still.

His body rotating in the air, the Master of Mischief landed perfectly on his rival. Crawling to McKenzie, Devilfish placed his arm over the ZEN Master while Quartermainne desperately tried to break into the cage.

[
Pan shot of the euphoric crowd, then back to Devilfish.
]

Sparks:
Devilfish has done the impossible! He has slayed the Man Beast! He is the ZEN Master of Mischief!

Thane:
Ugh, how long have you been saving those ones for?

[
Holding up the ZEN Master title with what appear to be tears forming in his eyes, the Man in the Multi-Colored Mask climbs back to the top of the cage to let the fans get a good view of the belt. The cheers continue even as medical personnel enter the cage to evaluate McKenzie. While Quartermainne vociferously argues with taunting fans at ringside, his client’s neck is stabilized before the medics try placing the 300-pound wrestler onto a stretcher. Straining with all their might, the medics finally succeed in lifting McKenzie up, but the former ZEN Master regains his wits and pushes them away. Swaying as he stands on his feet, Big Mac takes another moment to gather himself before stepping out of the ring. Limping all the way, McKenzie shoves Quartermainne to the ground when the APW commissioner gets near him. Turning around, Nathan locks eyes with the new champion, who pauses his celebration momentarily to share a nod with his rival. Close-up of Devilfish as he goes back to firing up the crowd. Cut to a shot of Big Mac as he disappears behind the curtain, but end the show with the image of Devilfish thrusting the ZEN Master title into the air to more cheers.

<p>As soon as I saw the opening segment I was like crikey he has sucked me in again. Big Mac is leaving after tonight so of course he is dropping the title. There went my perfect score before any matches took place. </p><p> </p><p>

Have we seen the last of Mr Quartermainne?</p><p> </p><p>

I guess we should all be happy not to have seen the ugly mug of that no good stinking devilfish. May his reign ontop of Zen be short. </p><p> </p><p>

We have seen what a brainless monster in Big Mac could do, but what if we had an intelligent champion, someone with the ability to easily outwit his foes like Nick Bockwinkle used to do. Yes now is truly the time for The Dastardly Era in Zen. A Zen Master that we could all love and appreciate. The time has come for Dastardly to give up the invisible belt and stake his true claim</p>

I knew I wanted the Knights Temple to be Harmony champions going into Way of the Warrior (after all, they did just win the belts after they bounced back and forth between them and Warp-Jump), but I also wanted to see what AF could do against them. However Jesse Tasman could turn into the Face that Kalliope was going to be. I dont see Kalliope making it to her promised grounds of Conceptual Champion until after her baby.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I agree that Good Time Boys are the de facto second face true tag team (Man O'Lantern are probably at best a loose affiliation). Of course, both Jesse and Lerone are still rookies, but that should end in a bit. Short of turning one of the heel teams face, or forming/bringing in another face team, the third year of ZEN (if there would have been one) would see Tasman and Slim get built up for a possible run at the tag titles. Of course, that is if Massey can get over his anger at Jesse. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="DAVEFAN95" data-cite="DAVEFAN95" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <em>Easy for me. At this point, Kalliope's pregnancy really was a bigger blow than McKenzie leaving because at least I had planned for what would happen if Big Mac left for RAW. I like having the midcard titles be to build up-and-coming wrestlers, and Kalliope was really the only believable one on the roster that fit that description. Time will tell if what I came up with as a replacement pays off.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Theheel" data-cite="Theheel" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong>Cyanide</strong> vs Dazzler</p><p> <strong>The Dazzler got his win for the quarter so I’m going with Cyanide. The Jester mask angle was supposed to happen around this time instead of so much earlier, so I'm having to walk myself through replacement scenarios to explain stuff I didn't have notes for. We should get to the convergence point soon though. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Dr_Avalanche" data-cite="Dr_Avalanche" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Azazel vs <strong>Kalliope Woodchuck</strong></p><p> </p><p> <em>I wonder how you're going to handle Kalliope's pregnancy. I'd like to think that the wrestlers she's facing are trying to protect her as much as possible, but it's taking a leap of faith for me to go with that. At this point in the game, the ZEN Master title and Conceptual titles were essentially even in prestige (same letter grade) which is amazing considering I thought Damian's long reign would trigger a penalty along with the amazing matches McKenzie and Devilfish had over the ZEN Master belt. It really is a testament to just how good Dastardly has been that he's overcome that.</p><p> </p><p> So the scenario you put forth would have been completely plausible, though it's not the one I went with. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="HiPlus" data-cite="HiPlus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Again I am so invested in the midcard at the moment.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Haha, and still good to hear. It really is a situation where it is so tempting to keep going with this after the two years I've already played, just to see what happens to people like Damian.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="HiPlus" data-cite="HiPlus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong>Title vs Mask - Cage Classic Match for the ZEN Master Title</strong></p><p> ‘Big Mac’ Nathan McKenzie © w/ Sean Quartermainne vs <strong>Devilfish</strong></p><p> </p><p> Was the hero beaten down? I mean a dusty finish may occur but no, this is Devilfish's time.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah, and Devilfish got to look extra strong by kicking out after three Big Mac Attacks! <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I was hoping there was enough doubt after how dominant McKenzie was, considering he hadn't lost a match in APW the whole game either, making him undefeated for almost a year and a half.</p><p> </p><p> The original plan would have seen Devilfish challenging McKenzie, only for Quartermainne to turn him down. Eventually, Mac's pride would have come into play and he would have accepted a match for Way of the Warrior. Devilfish would have won the title there, likely due to botched interference from Sean. Really, Devilfish had to win this third match in their series, or McKenzie would have had to move on to another challenger.</p><p> </p><p> It's a combination of those boxes you mention being checked, along with Devilfish being in the right place at the right time with Mac getting signed so I couldn't change my mind on the title switch between now and Way of the Warrior.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Dr_Avalanche" data-cite="Dr_Avalanche" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <em>Seeing Big Mac doing good work with the belt must make you reluctant to have him drop it. I want to see Devilfish win the title, but I don't know when it's going to happen, or even if. </em></p></div></blockquote> <p> </p><p> It was definitely sad to see McKenzie go, to the point that I almost thought of closing the show with the shot of him disappearing behind the curtain.</p><p> </p><p> This was his best performance in ZEN, and pretty close to the best performance I've ever gotten out of a worker in a game. At the same time, I got out of him what I wanted, so I really only lose out on what would have been his storyline post-Way of the Warrior, which I'll get around to revealing when the time is right. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="font-size:14px;">For the first-time ever in Wellington!</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="font-size:14px;">ZEN Way of the Poet</span></span></strong></p><p> </p><p> <img alt="3onJBqH.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/3onJBqH.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Non-Title Match</strong></p><p> The Knights Temple vs R & R</p><p> </p><p> Azazel vs ‘Rowdy’ Rob Edwards</p><p> </p><p> Pink Spider vs Shaolin</p><p> </p><p> Man O’Lantern vs Warp-Jump w/ Guru Vishni</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Ladder Match for the ZEN Conceptual Title</strong></p><p> Damian Dastardly © vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle vs Vertigo</p><p> </p><p> <strong>For the ZEN Master Title</strong></p><p> Devilfish © vs Halloween Knight</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote>

The match is irrelevant, the key piece will be what part Auckland's Finest end up playing before or after the match. </p><p> </p><p>

This is really close for mine, but Azazel is the more seasoned hand. </p><p> </p><p>

This could go either way but Shaolin needs the win after all the Kalliope business. </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Devilfish © </strong>vs Halloween Knight</p><p> </p><p>

For mine Halloween Knight feels like the right person to take the title from Devilfish, at least if Dastardly is forced to stay down the card now. Like it would be a nice arc considering his character development, his HoF induction and everything it would cap off the past year nicely. But now is not the time. Devilfish just beat perhaps one of the most impressive men ever to grace ZEN.</p>

<strong>The Knights Temple</strong> vs R & R</p><p>

<em>Them squashers yo</em></p><p>

<strong>Azazel</strong> vs ‘Rowdy’ Rob Edwards</p><p>

<em>I feel Azazel has a little bit more in the character column for him to take the win</em></p><p>

<strong>Pink Spider</strong> vs Shaolin</p><p>

<em>I'm gonna go with Spider due to favouritism but if Shaolin won I wouldn't be surprise, I do feel Kalliope will be involved in this one way or another and I think maybe Shaolin kayfabe injures her to get her off events</em></p><p>

<strong>Spider has momentum but has been a tag so I will go with the heel here to make some noise</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Man O’Lantern</strong> vs Warp-Jump w/ Guru </p><p>

<strong>Part of me has been half expecting pumpkin jack to turn on his goofy partner. Not sure where this is going but I don’t see them moving toward the tag team titles. The turn is probably just my imagination so I’ll go with Man O Lantern to take the win</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Ladder Match for the ZEN Conceptual Title</p><p>

Damian Dastardly © vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle vs <strong>Vertigo</strong></p><p>

<strong>Dastardly is above this belt. This is a perfect spot for him to drop the title in a 3 way ladder match and not eat a pinfall. Then he can move up with a match maybe against Man O War before getting a title shot. I’m going with Vertigo to win as it is a better story imo even though Massey doesn’t seem to care much for him</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<strong><strong>Devilfish</strong></strong> © vs Halloween Knight</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>I know HK is the boss but I don’t think a title change here is in order. I don’t see Cy on the card so this is a perfect spot for him to cause HK to lose via distraction</strong></p>

No one got a perfect score, but that was mostly due to the undercard matches. There were some close calls, so not that surprising, but hopefully the trend continues. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> In terms of booking, I could tell from my notes I was still recovering from losing McKenzie to RAW. Rob's push is certainly coming out of left field (at least from what has been written previously), and with Azazel being the veteran, it's more of a reaffirmation of how Massey sees the latter's worth to the company.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Theheel" data-cite="Theheel" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong>Someone has to win right?</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Now I have the tagline for Rob Edwards' career retrospective too! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="HiPlus" data-cite="HiPlus" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> Pink Spider vs <strong>Shaolin</strong></p><p> </p><p> This could go either way but Shaolin needs the win after all the Kalliope business.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Similar to the previous match, except for this time I had to question myself on why exactly I had Shaolin lose. I suppose Kalliope getting a measure of revenge and sticking up for herself was the way to go on this feud, and costing Shaolin the match is probably more of a blow to him than just beating him down.</p><p> </p><p> It also says something about Pink Spider still being valued, even if him and Feather were drifting up to this point.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="DAVEFAN95" data-cite="DAVEFAN95" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="44258" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> <strong>Man O’Lantern</strong> vs Warp-Jump w/ Guru Vishni</p><p> <em>Man O'Lanturn are far too over for Vishni's lackey's to win</em></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> It was probably closer than that when I made the booking decision, but yeah, in a straight up fight, Jack and Man O'War are too over to take a clean loss against Warp-Jump. <p><strong>Guru Vishni Tribute Match</strong></p><p>

Auckland’s Finest and Warp-Jump vs <strong>The Knights Temple and Man O’Lantern</strong></p><p> </p><p>

I mean, the tribute match should be won by Warp-Jump, but I can't see the four men on that side getting the upset.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>‘Rowdy’ Rob Edwards</strong> vs Trevor Feather w/ Pink Spider</p><p> </p><p>

The new Kalliope essentially. I always like Rob Edwards, but I never can get stuck in pushing him. So hopefully a sustained push here for him will be decent. He also is one of those guys that isn't necessarily a typical ZEN fighter.</p><p> </p><p>

Azazel vs <strong>Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Zero should win comfortably.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>ZEN Master #1 Contender Match</strong></p><p>

Cyanide vs <strong>Halloween Knight</strong></p><p> </p><p>

HK is a better foil for Devilfish longterm with Cyanide being a pseudo face during their feud.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>One Night Only – For the ZEN Master Title</strong></p><p>

<strong>Devilfish ©</strong> vs Lone Shark</p><p> </p><p>

A decent match to help further legitimise Devilfish as one of the best ZEN has to offer.</p>

Guru Vishni Tribute Match

Auckland’s Finest and Warp-Jump vs The Knights Temple and Man O’Lantern

Wow, you've made this one hard, I'll go with the champs and Man'O lanturn simply because I don't see AF and WJ deserving a win over MOL

‘Rowdy’ Rob Edwards vs Trevor Feather w/ Pink Spider

Rowdy might have won last time out but Feather should have enough of a standing in the company to pick up the win

For the ZEN Conceptual Title

Damian Dastardly © vs Dazzler

LOL

Azazel vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle

If you don't beat Rob Edwards, you won't beat Super Zero, guarenteed

ZEN Master #1 Contender Match

Cyanide vs Halloween Knight

HK had a shot last time out, so Cyanide if any (and it very much could be a draw to set up a triple threat) should get the next go at Devilfish

One Night Only – For the ZEN Master Title

Devilfish © vs Lone Shark

One night only you say? Devilfish retains then. Unless theres an elaborate twist in the tail, and maybe there is, with Lone Shark becoming Sean Quartermaine's new client and he wins the belt, or even Shark wins it just for Cyanide to ask for his title shot right now and win to make sure Shark doesn't leave with the belt which in turn, turns Cyanide face but Devilfish worked too hard and took too much of a beating for him to just drop the belt in a "Special Attraction" match.

Guru Vishni Tribute Match

Auckland’s Finest and Warp-Jump vs The Knights Temple and Man O’Lantern

I feel like it could go either way, but if it's in tribute to Guru Vishni, maybe Warp-Jump can squeeze out a dirty victory somehow? It feels like they need to get one over Knights Temple and Man O'Lantern if they are going to feel like worthy to feud with.

‘Rowdy’ Rob Edwards vs Trevor Feather w/ Pink Spider

If Edwards is going to be the next midcard babyface to get a push, a win against Trevor Feather seems logical.

For the ZEN Conceptual Title

Damian Dastardly © vs Dazzler

Azazel vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle

Super Zero's enemies are not in the ring but outside. Interference seems highly likely, but I still don't think you'd give Azazel the win here.

ZEN Master #1 Contender Match

Cyanide vs Halloween Knight

Going out on a limb here. I don't think you want to write out Halloween Knight from the title scene, what with the very interesting storyline going on with him, but I also wonder if you want to repeat Devilfish vs HK so soon. A draw setting up a 3-way seems like a good solution.

One Night Only – For the ZEN Master Title

Devilfish © vs Lone Shark

I don't see Lone Shark toppling Devilfish.

Guru Vishni Tribute Match

Auckland’s Finest and Warp-Jump vs The Knights Temple and Man O’Lantern

Everything points to the babyfaces going over, but then where would that leave the tag division. So the Guru pulls out everything from the Peace and Joy book of cheating to figure out a way. Still wish Pumpkin Jack would find his true calling and dump Man o War but it doesn’t appear to be in the Cards.

Rowdy’ Rob Edwards vs Trevor Feather w/ Pink Spider

In the Somebody’s gotta win II battle I guess I’ll take the suddenly hot Rowdy Rob. Wondering if Rob somehow tampered with Kalliope’s birth control so he could get her spot.

For the ZEN Conceptual Title

Damian Dastardly © vs Dazzler

You know I have been calling for Dastardly to drop the title the last few shows because the thinking was he was going to move up. The 3 way match with Zero and his former partner jobber looked like the setup. But I was..wr...wro...you were mistaken. So now against the Dazzler there’s no way he drops the title here right? I’m going to say no way as the prestige drop would be as deafening as Kalliope’s pregnancy announcement.

Azazel vs Super Zero w/ Molly Cuddle

Obviously Jobber will make an appearance but much like The Ding Dongs from Belltown, the interference will not cost Zero the match

ZEN Master #1 Contender Match

Cyanide vs Halloween Knight

I also don’t see a finish in this match to set up an intriguing 3 Way

One Night Only – For the ZEN Master Title

Devilfish © vs Lone Shark

I smell a trap here. Could this be a booker swerve in stating it’s a one night only? At this point I’m not brave enough to call the swerve, but I might edit this post before the event
