This week’s show begins with PWC Commissioner Peter Michaels standing in the ring with a microphone. He apologizes to the fans for the chaotic ending to the show last week, assuring everyone watching that there won’t be a repeat performance tonight as Legacy is not booked to appear.

On to more important business: the future of Phoenix Wrestling Company. Michaels gestures again to a darkened box on the upper level of the McGaw Arena—the traditional viewing area for PWC’s reclusive financial backer.

39Nvu1k.jpg?1

The man behind the curtain, PWC’s primary investor, has decreed that PWC is, first and foremost, a wrestling company. And every wrestling company needs a champion. Therefore, beginning next month and concluding at PWC’s first major event, Coronation, in March, there will be a tournament to determine the first ever PWC Supreme Universal Champion! The tournament seeding has yet to be determined, which means that all PWC wrestlers have the next two weeks to make an impression and secure their place in the draw. Michaels speaks directly to everyone in the locker room: “We’ll be watching. Impress us!”

KC Glenn vs High Flyin’ Hawaiian

Both of these young men seem to have taken Commissioner Michaels’ words to heart in this match. They put on a fast-paced match filled with flashy high spots. After a few minutes of back-and-forth action, Glenn’s tag team partner Davis Wayne Newton makes his way toward the ring from backstage, apparently out to get a closer look just as Glenn had during his match last week.

vhW5peJ.jpg?1

Unlike Newton, however, Glenn seems completely unfazed by the arrival of his partner at ringside. Rather, it’s the Hawaiian whose concentration on the match seems to waver. And a momentary distraction is all it takes to allow Glenn the opportunity to snatch him from behind and deliver a version of Newton’s own chickenwing gutbuster. Glenn vaults himself to the top turnbuckle and hits a breathtaking 450 splash to earn the three-count and victory. Post-match, as Glenn celebrates in the ring, cameras catch Newton scowling on the outside.

Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Mr. Lucha III vs D.A.D.

D.A.D. are up to their usual antics on the way to the ring, dancing and rapping along with the beats from Davey’s boombox. On the other side of the ring, Mr. Lucha and the Bulldozer introduce themselves and shake hands. When the match begins, it’s another competitive affair. The bulky Bulldozer doesn’t shy away from slugging it out with the enormous Davey while Lucha’s quick, fluid succession of holds and dives is an intriguing contrast with Ali’s fast paced brawling. Eventually, it appears that Ali may have met his match in the larger Smith, who nearly turns him inside out with a massive lariat. But before Smith can hook his opponent up for a package piledriver, Davey climbs over the ropes and smashes him over the head with his boombox. As the Bulldozer crumples to the canvas, referee Pee-Wee Germaine calls for the bell and awards the DQ win to Smith and Lucha.

Rating: C+

As medics attend to Bulldozer and the ring crew clears away boombox shards, we cut backstage where Remmington Remus is standing by with Remmy Skye and Frankie Perez.

OS68YDF.jpg?1l3px0jJ.jpg?1ITTJ9vC.jpg?1

Skye talks about how much he’s enjoyed chillin’ with his compadre Perez the last two weeks. The only problem is that those morons from Legacy have really been harshing his buzz. But tonight he’s looking forward to an awesome time in the main event with his best buddy Perez in his corner. Perez looks a bit perplexed by Skye’s words, but he confirms that since Fro Sure is not here he’ll be in Skye’s corner tonight to watch his back. Skye caps the interview off with an enthusiastic hug of Perez.

Harry Allen vs Jeremie Courtney

Two former TCW stars clash in this matchup between the veteran Harry Allen and the youngster Jeremie Courtney—both looking to establish themselves as contenders here in PWC. Courtney tries to use his height to his advantage, keeping the smaller Allen at a distance with his striking. Allen counters with quickness, sticking and moving and at one point running literal circles around Courtney. In the end, it’s the veteran wiles of Allen that prevail. With Courtney looking a bit worn down, Allen is able to counter an attempted clothesline into a crucifix, surprising his larger opponent and earning him the three-count victory.

Ace Youngblood and Cal Sanders vs Mark “Crazy Eyes” Griffin and Kenny

All four competitors in this match are looking to build some positive momentum in PWC following early losses. Before the match, Sanders encourages Youngblood to perform a ceremonial dance while Griffin intimidates his partner Kenny by staring him down. In the ring, the match is a fairly even affair with all four participants enjoying periods of offensive control. Youngblood and Sanders appear to be the much more cohesive team, however, and it is this advantage that ultimately determines the match’s outcome. Youngblood and Sanders are able to isolate Kenny in the ring and wear him down for an extended period of time. A double clothesline between Kenny and Sanders gives Kenny an opportunity to crawl to the corner and attempt to tag in his fresher partner, but he’s too terrified by the crazy look in Griffin’s eyes to get near enough to tag him. Sanders takes the opportunity to tag Youngblood into the match, whereupon both men climb the turnbuckles to deliver a devastating top rope double axehandle/tomahawk chop combo that’s enough to keep Kenny down for the three.

Rating: D+

In advance of his match tonight, Mainstream Hernandez makes his way to the ring with his marketing consultant Haley Buck along for the ride.

X33lDLe.jpg?1rF7XxxI.jpg?1

Buck does not look particularly happy, and she has a microphone. As Hernandez strikes a pose in the ring, Buck addresses Peter Michaels at the announcers’ table. Last week, her client Mainstream Hernandez was victorious in the main event, and not coincidentally, attendance and TV ratings were both up from the week before. Why then, she wonders, is Mainstream not in the main event again tonight. She may be a marketing genius, but it shouldn’t take a genius to see that the most marketable man in the company—the one man who is capable of attracting mainstream attention to PWC—is the man standing with her in the ring. Hernandez smiles and nods approvingly. He takes the microphone and is about to speak when he is interrupted by the elaborate entrance of the debuting Justin Sensitive.

As Sensitive makes his way to the ring, Michaels explains on commentary that he’s definitely been impressed by Mainstream’s early performances in PWC, but he feels it’s important to give everyone on the roster the chance to prove themselves rather than declaring one man the face of the company. And Mainstream has another opportunity to prove himself tonight in another high-profile match against a well-known opponent.

James “Mainstream” Hernandez vs Justin Sensitive

Mainstream does not seem particularly pleased by the flamboyant Sensitive’s attempt to steal his spotlight by preening and posing on the turnbuckles. When the bell rings, he’s ready to get down to business and show the cocky newcomer what’s what in PWC. But Sensitive wants none of it, constantly ducking through the ropes to avoid contact with his opponent and appearing thoroughly put out by Mainstream’s attempts to engage him in the match. He can’t stall forever, though, as eventually Mainstream manages to drag him into the ring and get things started. Sensitive spends a good deal of time on the defensive, looking to bail out and avoid engagement whenever possible. There does appear to be some strategy behind his actions, however, as he manages to sucker a frustrated Mainstream in to a few precarious predicaments. In the end, though, it’s Sensitive who makes the critical mistake, missing on a charge into the turnbuckle and leaving himself vulnerable to Mainstream’s Crossover Appeal (Sliced Bread #2). That proves to be enough to secure the pinfall victory.

We now cut to a camera near the entrance to the McGaw Arena, as intrepid backstage reporter Remmington Remus has gotten word of a commotion in the building’s parking area.

OS68YDF.jpg?1HF8CuEi.jpg?1wo4Ntzm.jpg?1LsIyujb.jpg?1

On investigation, it turns out to be Legacy causing the disturbance. They aren’t booked tonight, and apparently they aren’t happy about it. The three of them are staging a parking lot protest—marching, chanting and carrying signs with the slogans “No Justice No Peace” and “Justice for Legacy.” It doesn’t seem to be drawing much support.

On seeing the approach of Remus and his cameraman, however, Matty K—decked out in a ridiculously large and bushy fur coat against the winter cold—charges over to make a public statement. He scoffs at the idea that young people these days have no social conscience and holds out himself and his stable-mates as examples of people willing to stand up for what’s right and demand justice from the powers that be. It’s obvious that Legacy deserves to be in the main event each and every night, just like Matty deserves the designer sunglasses and the fur coat that cost more than more money than Remus earns in a year. Just like G-Reg deserves all of the acclaim he’s earned in the world of hip hop. And just like Ash deserves to be recognized as the premier visual artist of his generation. But no! Because of some sort of personal vendetta, Peter Michaels is trying to take from Legacy what is rightfully theirs. That injustice cannot be allowed to stand. Because they are Legacy. They have it all, and they deserve everything they have!

Steven Flash and Ernest Youngman vs The Embassy

The stoic veteran Steven Flash and the implacable rookie Ernest Youngman look to have a stiff test ahead of them in the form of the newly arrived Embassy. The Embassy leader, El Sultan, rallies his troops with a spirited pep-talk—although it’s not immediately clear what language he is speaking or whether they’re able to understand what he’s saying—while Flash and Youngman stand silent and motionless in their corner, not so much as acknowledging one another’s presence. Once the bell rings, however, Flash and Youngman are in their element, bringing the fight to the “Sensational” Kashmir Singh as Sultan barks instructions from the apron. Singh is a wily veteran in his own right, though, and he’s soon able to manufacture an opportunity to make the tag to the larger Sultan, who goes on the offensive utilizing his impressive combination of speed, strength and athleticism. Not unlike Singh, however, Flash is able to craftily turn the tables by suckering Sultan into a drop toehold and grounding him on the mat. With Sultan in trouble, the mysterious Masked Canadian leaps to the apron to provide a distraction, allowing Singh to illegally enter the ring for the assist. Referee Matthew White turns around just in time to see Sultan tagging Singh into the match. But while the Canadian’s interference may have allowed The Embassy to win the battle, it ultimately loses them the war when Youngman whips Singh into the ropes where he crashes into the masked man, still on the ring apron. As the surprised Singh is focused on his stablemate, who’s crashed down onto the floor, Youngman is able to grab him from behind and plant him with a thunderous reverse DDT that earns the three-count. Afterwards, Sultan does not appear happy that The Embassy have lost their debut match, while Flash and Youngman are, as usual, apparently emotionless.

Remmy Skye vs “The Professor” Steven Parker

We’re treated to a real clash of styles (and of personalities) in our main event this evening. Skye, with Perez in his corner, appears loose and relaxed before the bell while Parker struts confidently around the ringside area offering his expert advice to the fans in the front row. It looks like the Professor has a few words for Skye and Perez as well, but the cameras can’t quite pick up what he’s saying. The match is a good one, pitting Skye’s fast-paced flips and dives against Parker’s technical mastery and mat skills. Parker spends a good deal of the match grounding Skye and attempting to maintain control, but he can never manage to put Skye away for good. And it’s clear that any mistake could be costly, as Skye enjoys several bursts of rapid fire offense that leave Parker reeling. Unfortunately, the ending to this competitive matchup is a tainted one. After nearly fifteen minutes of action, three figures emerge from the crowd and rush the ring.

HF8CuEi.jpg?1wo4Ntzm.jpg?1LsIyujb.jpg?1

It’s Legacy! They go straight for Skye, cracking him over the head with one of their protest signs and forcing referee Francis Long to call for the bell. The match is awarded to Skye via DQ.

Rating: B

But Legacy are clearly not finished; their protest has turned violent.

HF8CuEi.jpg?1wo4Ntzm.jpg?1LsIyujb.jpg?1

l3px0jJ.jpg?1ITTJ9vC.jpg?1

The three of them set about stomping and kicking the depleted Skye while he’s down. Perez charges in to help, but the numbers are against him. A three-on-two assault commences as Legacy beat down Skye and Perez all over the ringside area, smashing them into barricades and generally causing havoc and destruction. Steven Parker, meanwhile, does not look pleased to have gone into the record books with his first PWC loss, seemingly through no fault of his own, but he does not involve himself in the carnage taking place around the ring.

Eventually, Legacy appear satisfied that they’ve done enough damage. Leaving Skye and Perez battered and broken at ringside, the three Legacy members retreat to the ring where they dramatically raise their “No Justice No Peace” sign high into the air, gesturing angrily in the direction of Peter Michaels at the announce position. The show goes off the air with Legacy standing tall and Michaels, on commentary, wondering angrily who let them into the building.

For some reason I don't hate this gimmick, like the pairing :D

Glad to hear it! I'm going for an "affluenza" gimmick where these guys are so accustomed to wealth, fame, and privilege thanks to their backgrounds that they have no conception of how they're seen by the rest of the world. With a heavily cult product, PWC is a place where they can ramp up the gimmick to the level of Joaquin Phoenix-style performance art--thus G-Reg's hip hop career. I think it can work.

Comments: I am loving the Steven Parker character.

Me too. I love the idea of the guy just constantly wandering around backstage trying to give tips and pointers and instructions to everyone else in the locker room. Can't believe he hasn't attracted any students yet to follow his teachings . . .

Comments: The Embassy look like a joke.

Comments:Now The Embassy sounds like they could be a bad ass team and stable

Hmm. . . some differing first impressions here. I guess we'll have to wait and see how The Embassy develop and what, if anything, Sultan, Sensational Singh and The Masked Canadian have up their sleeves. In looking back through the first 13 PWC shows, which I actually booked in the game quite some time ago, I was a bit disappointed with the way The Embassy debuted. But they might yet be able to pick up the pace.

Comments: Kenny is a jobber's name.

Comments: Kenny has no other name, other name, other name. Kenny has no other name, so he's bound to lose.

Comments: I was going to go with Crazy Eyes, but Bats makes a good point. Kenny is a jobber name.

Comments: Crazy Eyes can’t make up for Kenny Jobber

Seems like everyone's on the same page about Kenny, though. Kenny is getting frustrated!

On to prediction standings:

1. BHK1978 17 of 20 matches + 2 bonus = 19 points

1. Theheel 16 of 20 matches + 3 bonus = 19 points

3. KnowYourEnemy 14 of 20 matches + 3 bonus = 17 points

4. batsnumbereleven 14 of 20 matches + 2 bonus = 16 points

5. HiPlus 10 of 13 matches + 2 bonus = 12 points

5. Kijar 10 of 13 matches + 2 bonus = 12 points

7. kanegan 6 of 6 matches + 1 bonus = 7 points

Kanegan maintains a perfect prediction record but will have to predict at least four more shows through Coronation to be eligible for the contest. Thanks for predicting! Episode 4 preview should be up soon.

Episode 1.04</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Breaking News: Word has come down from on high that in spite of their actions on last week's show, Legacy's suspension has been lifted and they are expected to be in attendance for episodes of Rising From the Ashes from this point forward. Rumor has it that PWC Commissioner Peter Michaels is not particularly pleased that this decision has been dictated to him from above via the PWC Board of Directors. But whatever his feelings may be, it seems he may have no recourse but to accept Legacy's presence on his flagship program.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, it's the last chance for all PWC competitors to make a favorable impression before the initial pairings are announced for the Supreme Universal Championship tournament starting next month. <strong>Frankie Perez, Remmy Skye, Fro Sure, and James "Mainstream" Hernandez vs Legacy and "The Professor" Steven Parker</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Our main event this week features eight of the top faces in PWC as the returning Legacy team up with "The Professor" Steven Parker to take on the team of Frankie Perez, Remmy Skye, Fro Sure, and James "Mainstream" Hernandez. Perez, Skye and Fro have been battling Legacy since the first episode of Rising From the Ashes and will no doubt be looking to gain a measure of revenge for the ill treatment they've received at the hands of the privileged threesome over the past few weeks. Mainstream Hernandez returns to the main event riding a wave of momentum, but it's unclear how he'll fit in to a multi-man match where he may not be at the center of attention. And on the other side of the equation, Legacy has been functioning as a unified team behind the leadership of Matty K, but it remains to be seen how well they'll be able to coexist with "The Professor," who did not seem particularly pleased with the role they played in his loss in last week's main event. And to top it all off, we're hearing that Peter Michaels has a special stipulation in mind for this matchup. There are a lot of moving parts in play here, and this one's sure to be explosive. Who will head into next month's title tournament on a high note?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Newcomer Justin Sensitive was unsuccessful in his PWC debut last week,</p><p>

and things won't get any easier for him this week as he's set to take on the powerhouse Hawaiian Ekuma. <strong>The Showstoppers vs The Good Ol' Boys</strong></p><p> </p><p>

We may have seen some signs of dissension in the Showstoppers' ranks over the last few weeks as the brash Davis Wayne Newton hasn't seemed particularly happy with his tag team partner "The Golden Boy" KC Glenn.</p><p>

Now the team is being presented with a new challenge in the form of the imposing backwoods brawlers The Good Ol' Boys. Will the Showstoppers be able to put aside any differences they may be dealing with and focus on the task at hand? <p><strong>Frankie Perez, Remmy Skye, Fro Sure and James "Mainstream" Hernandez</strong> vs Legacy and "The Professor" Steven Parker</p><p>

Comments: Coin Flip says Faces win this time.</p><p> </p><p>

Justin Sensitive vs <strong>Ekuma</strong></p><p>

Comments: Ekuma has the same number of letters as Kenny, but somehow isn't a jobber name.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Showstoppers </strong>vs The Good Ol' Boys</p><p>

Comments: Talent Disparity here.</p><p> </p><p>

Ace Youngblood and Cal Sanders vs The Embassy vs <strong>D.A.D.</strong></p><p>

Comments: Embassy lost in their debut & Youngblood/Sanders doesn't have a proper name yet.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Mark "Crazy Eyes" Griffin</p><p>

Comments: I like the Crazy Eyes moniker, but at this stage he's still pretty much a jobber.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mr. Lucha III </strong>vs Kenny</p><p>

Comments: Poor Kenny, going out to get killed each night.</p><p>

</p><p><strong>

Harry Allen, Steven Flash and Thrill Seeker</strong> vs High Flyin' Hawaiian, Ernest Youngman and Eliot Thomas</p><p>

Comments: I'm not sure how I feel about Ernest Youngman's emotionless gimmick, unless it results in him turning into the WrestleBot 10,000 in which case he's become my new favorite wrestler.</p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p> </p><p>

Which of the eight competitors will earn the pinfall or submission in the main event? <strong>Hernandez.</strong></p><p> </p><p>

What stipulation, if any, will Peter Michaels add to the main event? <strong>Winners select the losers entrance music for the next month.</strong> <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

<p>Frankie Perez, Remmy Skye, Fro Sure and James "Mainstream" Hernandez vs <strong>Legacy and "The Professor" Steven Parker</strong></p><p>

Comments: <em>Legacy need to pick up wins inside the ring as well, and with Parker as their partner I would expect them to do so here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Justin Sensitive </strong>vs Ekuma</p><p>

Comments: <em>Neither strikes me as in line for an immediate push, but you've presumably brought Sensitive in for a reason beyond his similar outlook to someone like James Hernandez, and if he's to be of use he needs some momentum.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Showstoppers </strong>vs The Good Ol' Boys</p><p>

Comments: <em>Showstoppers are the better team. Mis-communication could sow seeds here, but I wouldn't expect them to take an L against the GOB. Post-match shenanigans, perhaps?</em></p><p> </p><p>

Ace Youngblood and Cal Sanders vs The Embassy vs <strong>D.A.D.</strong></p><p><strong>

</strong> Comments: <em>D.A.D are on a roll and ought to be pushed further.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Bulldozer Brandon Smith</strong> vs Mark "Crazy Eyes" Griffin</p><p>

Comments: <em>Smith could be a bigger player than he is, and should be picking up wins against the likes of Griffin if he's to reach his potential.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong> Mr. Lucha III </strong>vs Kenny</p><p>

Comments: <em>Bound to backfire on me at some point, but Kenny's still a jobber, and should not beat someone who's legacy is as great as Lucha's.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Harry Allen, Steven Flash and Thrill Seeker </strong>vs High Flyin' Hawaiian, Ernest Youngman and Eliot Thomas</p><p>

Comments: <em>Bit of a pick 'em, but Allen and Flash should both be reasonably over and therefore a better mid-term bet.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p> </p><p>

Which of the eight competitors will earn the pinfall or submission in the main event? <strong>G-reg</strong></p><p> </p><p>

What stipulation, if any, will Peter Michaels add to the main event? <strong>No DQ</strong></p>

Justin Sensitive vs <strong>Ekuma</strong></p><p>

Comments: While I am a fan of Justin I have a feeling you might be doing a storyline where he is still overly confident no matter how many times he loses. Granted I could be way off base in regards to that.</p><p> </p><p>

Comments: I am not sure but every time I have Brandon in any of the promotions that I run, I book him like Kevin Steen in ROH. I always end up bringing in a masked wrestler to be his tag team partner. What does this have to do with this match? Nothing.<img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

What stipulation, if any, will Peter Michaels add to the main event? <strong> I think it will have something to do with the seeding of the tournament. Perhaps it could be the guy who scores the winning pinfall gets to be top seed in the tournament or something along those lines.</strong></p><p><strong>

<strong>It's probably going to be no DQ but just to be different and think outside the box I will say this. The match will be an elimination match and it will then have the seeding of the tourney partially based on the eliminations in the match. Winner gets #1 seed</strong></p>
