Historian
GWC World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Mikey James vs. The Minor Annoyance © Comments: Is James still on a talent trade? Either way, get the belt on a stud that can bring it with him to CWL. James works for me full time. I just don't use him on TV every week, but he's on my full time roster. Held At: Shakeshaft Auditorium [Great Lakes, USA] In Attendance: 5,000 [sELL OUT] Buy Rate: .14 [70,080 buys] Commentators: Lee Bambino & Ricky Dale Johnson LB: Hello and welcome to Independence! We are coming to you live from the Shakeshaft Auditorium in Detroit, Michigan. We have a capacity crowd on hand to see what promises to be an exciting night of professional wrestling. The World Junior Heavyweight, World Openweight, and World Tag Team Titles will all be decided tonight -- as will the North American Heavyweight, Women’s, Tag Team, Women’s Tag Team and United States Championship. That’s right folks, you’re in for eight big championship contests and none are bigger than our main event. RDJ: That’s absolutely right. Riley McManus has been a fighting champion since he defeated Spencer Spade for the North American Heavyweight Championship at the Seventh Anniversary back in January. He has put on sensational performance after sensational performance -- and has survived tough challenger after tough challenger. Including matches against Torment’s running buddies Hellion and Scythe -- who have no doubt not only filled Torment in on what he needs to do, but also softened Riley up for this contest. LB: Ricky, you’ve been the top champion in a company before. You were the top star in the Texas Wrestling League and down in Los Angeles for years. You’ve been in Riley’s position. How do you prepare for a monster like Torment? RDJ: You don’t prepare for a wrestling match. You prepare to survive. You try to plan out how much of a beating you can take. You have to try to prepare your body and your mind for the knowledge that you’re going to hurt -- more than normal. Riley has had to do that the last few months. Hellion and Scythe were incredibly physical in their matches with him. You don’t just heal from that. People forget that Riley still wrestles most nights. He makes all the live shows. His body doesn’t get any real time to heal. If Hellion damaged something inside of Riley, a bruised rib -- a hurt back. Anything. Then Scythe made it worse and now Riley has to go up against the monster of monsters. This will not be an easy night for Riley McManus. christmas_ape
Enjoyed the big show, pretty important one for you it seems with your main champions being changed. One question though, did Vessey or Aroma win? Match says Vessey but that Aroma then celebrates. Not been following this long enough to know really but was the main event one of your highest rated matches ever?

DarK_RaideR
The Minor Annoyance as GWC World Junior Heavyweight champion was a crime that needed fixing and you did just that! One question though, did Vessey or Aroma win? Match says Vessey but that Aroma then celebrates. Looks like Historian copy-pasted the game text, so I'm guessing he used the pre-made "2 on 1 attack" angle that's written out as two men attacking a match winner. The way I'm seeing it, Valentine interfered to help Vessey win, then CV2 beat down Aroma.

Vessey won with outside interference and then he and Valentine continued to put the boots to Aroma. And it's a top ten match in company history. Riley McManus put on four straight A matches, two against Spade, one against Campbell, and one against Hellion that are our top four matches at this point. Historian
July had been a good month. I couldn’t complain really. We were rolling as an organization. Ratings were up. The buy rate for Independence was fantastic. Majorie, KC, and Riley were settling into their new roles wonderfully. Marjorie and KC were spending a lot of time learning how to run the business end of a wrestling business. Neither of them had the makings for a booker. That wasn’t how their brains worked. They could add seasoning to a meal, but you didn’t want them to menu plan. Riley had been shadowing creative. He had a brain for the business. He understood the creative necessities of wrestling. A lot of fans on the internet assume they understand how the business works. But, that was an argument I was never going to win. August was going to be a tough month. Several contracts were coming up for negotiation and I had to make a decision on if we could afford some of the talents. A lot of those decisions would depend on the kind of offers the guys were being made. I pulled the door to the Rocky Mountain School of Wrestling open. Ricky had asked for me and Joel to both be here. I walked in the front door and there stood Ricky and Joel. "Finally." Ricky said. "You're late." I nodded. "I know. I was on the phone with Kyle. He's got a big money offer from the Eisens. I have to decide if I can match it." I replied. "S*it." Joel said. "Kyle's done really well. He's been a very solid member of the roster." "I know. He and Andrew's contracts are both up. Pavel and Nigel. Those are just the first four. End of August and September have a lot of contracts coming up too." "You think you can keep everyone?" Joel asked and I had to shake my head. "With the offer Kyle is getting if Andrew gets one similar, no way. I know Packer has had some interest in Andrew. Especially with Steve DeColt booking. They need new monsters and Andrew is a prime candidate. Especially after his matches with Matty and Riley." "Guys. I know all of this is important, but I called you here for a reason." Ricky interrupts Joel and my conversation. He was right. He did ask us here. "What's going on Ricky?" I asked. Joel nodded. "Yeah. It's not a short trip from Amarillo to Denver at my age. What's going on?" Ricky smiled and motioned for us to follow him deeper into the training center. We passed the front desk and entered where the magic happens. Two ring set up. McFly was in one, putting the advanced class through some drills. KC was here working with the beginners class. Then I saw what Ricky brought us here for. "Ricky... Who the hell is that?" I asked. Ricky looked over his shoulder and grinned. "That is Michael Cavanaugh. He's been training here for about six weeks. He's ready." Ricky said with a nod. "That's one big bastard." Joel murmured. "Seven feet two inches. He is four hundred and forty-six pounds." Ricky said with a grin. I looked at the mammoth man. I'd had a lot of big guys come through. Guys that were six ten or six eleven. But over seven feet and almost four hundred and fifty pounds? He was two inches shorter than Bruce -- who drew millions of dollars over his career. He was an inch or two taller than Marat, who had drawn and continued to draw big money. He could be the biggest draw in wrestling. "How long did you say he'd been here?" "Six weeks." Ricky said. "But, he's got it. He's a natural. He's not just some giant who doesn't understand the business. I'm telling you. This is the attraction. He's our Bruce or Marat. He is money. Imagine in two years... This kid versus Brody Irons. That is money." I listened. Ricky was giving the hard sell. "I can't put him right on the main show." "I know. But he can go to Texas. Let him work for Joel for a little while. Get his feet under him and then you can bring him right up." Joel grinned. "Give him to me for awhile. Let me draw some big houses with this big bastard." I nodded. "Alright. He'll go to Amarillo for awhile. Let's see if he can live up to the hype, Ricky." "Oh he will." Ricky said, supremely confident. Over the last few months, we had gotten several talents that guarenteed we had a rich future ahead of us. Dave Derringer. Johnny Rain. Serena Savage. Brody Irons. Malachai Roaring Bear. Albert Turnball. Now this kid. I'd have to change his name. Give him a name that could draw money. Our future was bright. Very bright. Hashasheen
A 7'2 mobile giant... I'd almost call bullshit and scream chargen if you haven't had the coolest luck in characters so far. Do giants take longer to improve and faster to decline or is that not accounted for in game mechanics.
christmas_ape
Do giants take longer to improve and faster to decline or is that not accounted for in game mechanics. Not that I'm aware of although it would make for a cool game mechanic if giants gained a small bonus for say 'wowing the crowd' , but that their prime is much shorter than most. DarK_RaideR
Pretty sure Giants are treated like all other workers as far as their career circle goes, though they're rarer in terms of random generation for obvious reasons. With star quality changing with changes in size, I'm pretty sure Giants have a built-in SQ boost to reflect that "wowing the crowd" factor. Do giants take longer to improve and faster to decline or is that not accounted for in game mechanics. In fairness, his mobility is good narratively. I have no idea how he will actually perform, but I wanted to structure the narrative to be vaguely reminiscent of when guys first saw Big Show. He was a giant who was fairly mobile and it made them salivate. It’s entirely possible that he will be terrible in the ring. As DR says, the only real initial benefit to being a giant is SQ and Menace. They start out with higher numbers there because of their size. Historian
Can you teach us how to get these regens please? Well, in fairness I am almost eight years I to the game and o turned regeneration on for just about everybody. So this guy is a Bruce the Giant regen — but there is no secret to getting them. Just luck. I got lucky and got the Sam Strong and Bruce the giant regens. Roaring Bear is a Two eagles regen, but SWF didn’t pick up his contract so I did. Again, a lot of it is just luck and time in the game. And worker generation being set to high so that new workers continue to show up. No real secret!
