Potential Matchups and Returns

After the success of UFA 2: Yamada vs de Souza we look at a few potential match ups within the UFA divisions. McCall vs Alois looks to be all but set with the winner potentially earning an opportunity against whoever is crowned UFA Heavyweight Champion, but as mentioned before Jonah Funk is also making waves and a potential match up with either Jeff Carlton or Aki Hida looks a cert. We can confirm however that Jack Humphreys and Brandon Sugar will face off with the 2 agreeing a bout.

Things look unlikely to continue for Gunnar Nilsson after a run of poor performances but UFA have not commented on this, but have however commented Walia's obvious weight difference against Spradley needs no more discussion. The weight division allows for a good sized limit and Walia chose not to gain the extra weight therefore he became a disadvantage to himself.

In other news Matthew Dean has confirmed that he isnt far off from returning to full training. More on this as it evolves.

Results

<img alt="UFA003.jpg" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/y53VYHy/UFA003.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Main Event - Heavyweight Semi Final Bout

Hassan Fezzik def Harry Milne

The main event was everything it had promised to be. A quick counter turned into Fezzik controlling from the clinch, striking hard knees to the body. The 2nd opened and Milne closed down the range, Fezzik countered with a flurry of quick strikes and then a huge right which looked to smash Milnes nose to bits. Moving closer with leg kicks, Fezzik lands another powerful right but this time its enough as Milne hits the deck. The current SIGMA Heavyweight Champion will head to UFA's Heavyweight Finals.

Official Result: Hassan Fezzik defeats Harry Milne (Knock Out (Punch) in 1:46 of round 2).

Co Main Event - Heavyweight Semi Final Bout

Christopher Sharp def Robert Adelman

An exciting match up saw an even more exciting opening round with both men trading blows despite their skills in wrestling. The 2nd opened the same way but didnt last long as Adeleman missed a right hook and left himself open. Sharp slammed a jab right hook combo and Adelman was out before he even hit the ground. Sharp has shown that he can also strike, this makes him a huge danger.

Official Result: Christopher Sharp defeats Robert Adelman (Knock Out (Punch) in 0:14 of round 2).

Heavyweight Bout

Kurt Stonge def Adriano Occhino

This fight went the distance but it was very 1 sided. Stonge scored all 3 of his takedown attempts, all 3 of his ground sweeps and out striked Occhino 70 to 5. The decision was made easy.

Official Result: Kurt Stonge defeats Adriano Occhino (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Nigel Malley def Mantas Andreyev

We may have seen the last of Mantas Andreyev inside a UFA cage as Malley finished him early in the 1st after a 1 2 combo sent him wobbling to the ground followed by hammerfists giving the referee no choice but to step in.

Official Result: Nigel Malley defeats Mantas Andreyev (TKO (Strikes) in 0:45 of round 1).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Geoff Cahill def Feofilakt Wolinski

Cahills experience was the final difference. Both trading blow for blow, but when Wolinski's tank emptied he would grind a few minutes against the cage. Cahill however continued to attack, despite a nasty looking cut.

Official Result: Geoff Cahill defeats Feofilakt Wolinski (Split Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Taras Levitsky def Ezzatollah Karimi

Karimi may have scored 2 of 4 take downs, but once on the ground Levitsky controlled from there. With passing moments of both fighters equaled on their feet this went to the judges for a decision.

Official Result: Taras Levitsky defeats Ezzatollah Karimi (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Bud Machida def Nevio Desio

Machida scored a takedown early in the 1st and gained full mount. Desio was not good enough to prevent it and soaked in some heavy shots but did manage to keep his cool and sweep when Machida over extended. Desio spent the rest of the 1st in control. Early in the 2nd Machida settled for piushing Desio against the cage after a failed single leg, but did manage to then sweep both ankles to complete another take down. Once back in full mount, Desio had no answer for the strikes being thrown and gave up his back in defense. Machida knew what to do and after a tight body triangle, he locked in the Rear Naked Submission.

Official Result: Bud Machida defeats Nevio Desio (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 3:07 of round 2).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Mal Phe Roby def Roberto Aldez

After a minute of feeling eachother out, Aldez attacked with a spin kick but Roby countered with a clean powerful straight right that wobbled Aldez to the floor. Roby quickly kneeled to his side and rained down hammer fists. The referee stepped in. A clean victory for Roby.

Official Result: Mal Phe Roby defeats Roberto Aldez (Knock Out (Punch) in 1:47 of round 1).

Week 1 September 1991

UFA Exclusive Signings Begin

UFA have now addressed the situation regarding Hassan Fezzik and SIGMA. The fighter was given an opportunity to earn a title shot at UFA, and in doing so has been awarded a full time contract that gives UFA exclusive rights. In turn this means he has relinquished his SIGMA Heavyweight Championship effective immediately. Sources close to Fezzik say that the Undefeated Heavyweight was presented with an offer he could not refuse and wishes to thank SIGMA for his time there.

UFA have since stated that they will be working on implementing this type of contract into all future deals and will begin rolling out the same for current contracted fighters, but did however say that to take such a risk on an unknown could be disastrous to the companies growth, so reserves the right to hire "Part Time" contracts where fit. Finally they did say that the would no longer actively take other companies champions, but if the right deal is in front of them and it makes sense to do so, then they will. After all, the sport of MMA is exactly that. And business is business.

Week 2 September 1991

UFA International Contenders Canada

Full Card

<img alt="CONTENDERSCANADA1.jpg" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/BVXGcKR/CONTENDERSCANADA1.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Main Event - Upper Lightweight Bout

Gabrielo Fiel [0-0] vs Gage Rossignol [0-0]

Rossignol has been on UFA's radar for some time and this opportunity made sense for both company and fighter. The kick boxer will have a tough opponent in Fiel who is trained in Muay Thai.

Co Main Event - Lower Middleweight Bout

Arkados Uzelac [0-0] vs Leon Daudelin [0-0]

Croatian Uzelac is a world class Kick boxer but has trained in all aspects of Martial Arts for this event where he takes on Canadian Daudelin. Daudelin is a free style wrestler who will look to impress in front of a home crowd.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Ezra Thorson [0-0] vs Christophe Lacaze [0-0]

Following trend, both fighters are World Class Wrestlers looking for an opportunity to go to the next level.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Ernest Hord [1-3] vs Gaspar Comtois [0-0]

Comtois has a lot of heart and the World Class Muay Thai fighter could be the final nail in Hords coffin after 3 losses on the bounce. Hord has not won since Jan 1990 and will need a win here to remain relevant within the division.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Knox Hird [2-2] vs Wade LeCavalier [2-0/0-0]

Hird has amassed 2 wins in a row after an initial 2 losses, and expressed his desire to compete to soon after an impressive victory less than 3 months ago over Cascone. LeCavalier is undefeated in 2, both against SIGMA ranked contenders. LeCavalier recently signed from SIGMA and will join Fezzik in fighters who have fought for both front running companies.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Francesco Marazzina [1-2] vs Aroldo Herbeck [1-0/0-0]

Marazzina has lost 2 in a row and could struggle against Herbeck who ended his opponents night via TKO at a local event less than 2 months ago.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Brycen Hower [0-2] vs Bingwen Park [2-2]

Hower has been given a second chance after not competing since late 1989. A victory here is the only option as he faces an opponent who has yet to live up to expectations.

Upper Middleweight Bout

JJ Reid [0-0] vs Baylen Delvaux [0-3]

Delvaux has not won nor impressed in his 3 bouts so far and word is UFA officials have purposely thrown him in front of a tough opponent to see how he will cope. Reid is trained in BJJ and will look to submit Delvaux early on.

Smit has not fought in 6 months after successfully defending his title against Abdul Bier and is relishing at the chance of competing against a better standard of fighter. No news yet as to who he is likely to face in his company debut but both Porter Spradley and Mal Phe Roby have expressed a desire to welcome him.

Main Event - Upper Lightweight Bout

Gage Rossignol def Gabrielo Fiel

Fiel failed to impress as he was expected and it will remain to be seen if UFA give him another chance. Hwoever Rossignol impressed and the kick boxer will surely have done enough to find himself on another UFA card in the future.

Official Result: Gage Rossignol defeats Gabrielo Fiel (Knock Out (Kick) in 2:29 of round 1).

Co Main Event - Lower Middleweight Bout

Arkados Uzelac def Leon Daudelin

Uzelac showed how aggressive he can be with a viscious TKO stoppage. Daudelin never got going.

Official Result: Arkados Uzelac defeats Leon Daudelin (TKO (Strikes) in 2:42 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Ezra Thorson def Christophe Lacaze

Lacaze did well but came up short as Thorson showed off his submission skills after brilliantly working to a better position.

Official Result: Ezra Thorson defeats Christophe Lacaze (Submission (Arm Triangle) in 3:41 of round 2).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Gaspar Comtois def Ernest Hord

Comtois dominated and gave Hord no chance as soon as he hooked the clinch. The knock out knee surely ends Hord's association with UFA.

Official Result: Gaspar Comtois defeats Ernest Hord (Knock Out (Knee) in 0:58 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Wade LeCavalier def Knox Hird

LeCavalier won every round as he and Hird went the distance. Hird shouldn't be forgotten as he has previously shown how capable he can be.

Official Result: Wade LeCavalier defeats Knox Hird (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Francesco Marazzina def Aroldo Herbeck

Marazzina controlled the whole bout which went the distance. Herbeck did not look skilled at all.

Official Result: Francesco Marazzina defeats Aroldo Herbeck (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Bingwen Park def Brycen Hower

Howers return did not go to plan, although it ended in a loss the 2 put on a great fight. The question is did Hower do enough to stay with the UFA? Park did well to get back to winning ways.

Official Result: Bingwen Park defeats Brycen Hower (TKO (Strikes) in 2:26 of round 3).

Upper Middleweight Bout

JJ Reid def Baylen Delvaux

Baylen Delvaux's time at UFA looks to have come to an end as JJ Reid scores a victory.

UFA Cuts and Full Card Released

UFA have confirmed that Baylen Delvaux, Brycen Hower, Ernest Hord and Aroldo Herbeck have been cut from the promotion. UFA wish all 4 the best with their future en-devours but have remained silent on if the door is closed forever.

UFA on Showtime 4: Morrison vs Carpenter 2

Full Card

<img alt="UFA004.jpg" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/2tYGnx4/UFA004.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Main Event - Lower Middleweight Final Bout

Sean Morrison [9-0] vs Jim Carpenter [4-2]

[Lower Middleweight Championship]

This bout will see the first ever UFA Champion crowned when Underdog Jim Carpenter takes on "The Ultimate Ultimate" Sean Morrison who is widely regarded as "The Best In The World" right now. Morrison isnt the most exciting of fighters, but he gets the job done and the fans love nothing more than a winner. Carpenter comes in with good momentum after 3 wins on the bounce, however the only big names he has fought have been Foster and Morrison back at TUF4 and TUF2, both ending as losses.

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Matthew Dean [4-0] vs Faas Smit [3-0/0-0]

Dean returns after being on the sidelines with a year long injury which left him out of contention at TUF9 against Sean Morrison who would go on to win the Finale. Smit comes in with a huge following who are looking to see if he is able to replicate his performances from SIGMA against a greater opponent. There is talk that whoever wins may enter the small pool of fighters being considered next in line once an Upper Middleweight Champion has been crowned.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Vicente Ulloa [0-0] vs Terrance Bushman [0-0]

Jiu Jitsu vs Karate as this pair of World Class competitors make their MMA debuts.

Heavyweight Bout

Jonah Funk [2-0] vs Aki Hida [1-2]

Hida will be looking to prove himself here after picking up 2 losses, whilst there is talk that if Funk wins he will be handed the next opportunity for a shot at the uncrowned (as of now) Heavyweight Championship when it presents itself.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Zacaris Gomez [0-0] vs Lars Bohlin [1-2]

Gomez debuts against Bohlin who needs to improve on previous records.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Jack Humphreys [2-1] vs Brandon Sugar [1-0]

Sugar impressed in his debut and will aim to continue against Humphreys who is coming in off a win against Tyler Grafton.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Dan Halvorsen [2-2] vs Tyler Grafton [0-1]

Halvorsen welcomes back Grafton, as both men enter off the back of losses.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Taras Levitsky [2-1] vs Nasih Soltani [1-1]

Levitsky is on a 2 win streak, his only loss coming in his debut being against the much heavier Jonah Funk. Soltani has so far impressed in both of his fights and will be looking to add another notch to his win column.

UFA 5: Potential Bout Cancelled

It has been revealed today that Kurt Stonge has been pulled from contention after suffering the same injury that left Matthew Dean sidelined for nearly a year. Stonge was on a 2 fight unbeaten run and UFA officials were looking at his next opponent being Frank Analysis. This has now been cancelled as Analysis will seek a new opponent. Stonge is set to be sidelined for at least 9 months.

Main Event - Lower Middleweight Final Bout

Sean Morrison def Jim Carpenter

[Lower Middleweight Championship]

As expected, the huge favorite Sean Morrison defeated Jim Carpenter. Carpenter did hold his own over the distance but Morrison's control over his opponent is what became the difference, only losing the first round throughout the bout. Sean Morrison becomes the first ever UFA Lower Middleweight Champion along with Lower Middleweight Grand Prix Winner, First Ever "Ultimate Fighter" and "The Ultimate Ultimate".

Official Result: Sean Morrison defeats Jim Carpenter (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 5).

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Matthew Dean def Faas Smit

It was a long fall from the graces of Sigma Champion for Smit who found himself unable to answer Dean. Dean landed a takedown within the first 5 seconds before controlling Smit on the mat for the next 4 minutes, landing strikes before each transition. Eventually Dean worked towards Smits back and left him no choice but to submit.

Official Result: Matthew Dean defeats Faas Smit (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 4:29 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Terrance Bushman def Vicente Ulloa

Both came into the center, Ulloa letting Bushman know he is there with a couple of counter jabs. Two jabs followed by a right for Bushman, he then slipped a right hook attempt and set up a huge kick to the head with two more jabs. Ulloa was out!

Official Result: Terrance Bushman defeats Vicente Ulloa (Knock Out (Kick) in 0:47 of round 1).

Heavyweight Bout

Jonah Funk def Aki Hida

In a bout that was even throughout and looking likely to end in a decision, Funk took advantage late in the 3rd. After already trading in the center, Funk called for Hida to come at him again. Hida hastily attacked and missed his first swing, Funk countered and sent Hida to the mat. Pouncing, Funk tried to lock an arm triangle which failed but found himself able to lock in a Kimura. Hida fought so well through out the 3 rounds and looked to have won the first 2, but his emotions got the better of him and eventually tapped out to Funk. He will be so disappointed with himself.

Official Result: Jonah Funk defeats Aki Hida (Submission (Kimura) in 4:00 of round 3)

Upper Lightweight Bout

Zacaris Gomez def Lars Bohlin

In a very poor bout, as expected Gomez defeated Bohlin who looks to have entered the cage for the last time.

Official Result: Zacarís Gómez defeats Lars Bohlin (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Jack Humphreys def Brandon Sugar

A surprisingly poor match up from both, Humphreys got the decision but neither did much in way of exciting the crowd.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Dan Halvorsen def Tyler Grafton

Grafton will be disappointed by the decision but both men worked hard over all. Halvorsen picked up a shock victory over the hihgly respected Grafton.

Official Result: Dan Halvorsen defeats Tyler Grafton (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Taras Levitsky def Nasih Soltani

The opening bout saw Levitsky leave it very late as he finished Soltani with an arm triangle in the 3rd. With both men taking 1 of each of the 2 previous rounds, and Soltani gaining a slight advantage in the 3rd, Levitsky had no other option but to finish and he did in emphatic style.

Title Contenders, Potential Bouts Discussed plus Contenders Card Announced

Ray Miller addressed a select media presence as he discussed the plans for the upcoming year. Miller confirmed that "The International Contenders" Series will continue with Japan already confirmed, UFA are looking at heading into Europe, which could upset rivals SIGMA.

Miller praised Sean Morrison on becoming Lower Middleweight Champion and his overall achievements in the sport. When asked when and who Morrison would fight next, Miller said their was no answer on this yet, but did confirm that both Dean and Funk will be the first Contenders to the Upper Middleweight and Heavyweight Champions once crowned. Sharp vs Fezzik will take place sometime in March with Fuller vs Yamada following around May.

Miller then addressed the rumored beef between Faas Smit and Porter Spradley. The two have been said to have gotten into an altercation backstage after Smit's loss to Dean. Miller played down the incident but did confirm that there seemed to be legit bad blood between the two since Smit announced his departure from SIGMA which led to Spradley and now confirmed next opponent Roby to bad mouth their new colleague. Miller said that he has the situation under control and will be open to discuss this after the latter have fought.

Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Daisetsu Sekozawa [1-0] vs Kenji Toma [0-0]

Sekozawa's victory comes by way of knockout against Mantas Andreyev back in January at the previous incarnation of the Japanese International Series. Competing out of team of the year "Way Of The Cranes Beak", Toma will look to use his world class Judo to walk away with a victory.

Co Main Event - Upper Lightweight Bout

Barney Albritton [1-3] vs Yoshisada Seto [0-0]

Albritton fought at the last Japanese Series with a decision loss against Walia, his most recent loss was 3 months after. Riding a losing streak of 3, another loss to Seto could spell the end for him. Seto will use Wrestling to control Albritton, look for another decision one way or another.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Desiderio Sardinha [0-1] vs Munemitsu Kakinuma [0-0]

Sardinha lossed in Brazil against Cahill in April and has been given the chance to welcome Kakinumas World Class Kickboxing to The UFA.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Yevgeni Sipatov [4-2] vs Go Yamamoto [0-0]

Sipatov has impressed with his long grind out of his opponents, but coming off a loss to now Champion Sean Morrison in a match that was voted worst of the year, his stocks have dropped and a win here could see him back in the spotlight. Yamamoto however will look to start the fight very fast and avoid the slow grind by finishing his opponent.

Heavyweight Bout

Veeti Kuqi [0-3] vs Jin Kurofuji [0-0]

Kuqi is yet to taste a victory and like Albritton this is being considered his last chance. Kurofuji will need to work hard to defeat Kuqi but will enter as the favorite despite this being his MMA Pro Debut.

Heavyweight Bout

Ivano Sorich [0-1] vs Kunimichi Kikuchi [1-1]

Sorich and Kikuchi both enter on a loss, to Hida and Funk respectively. A Win for either could propel them into the higher tiers of the division.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Porfirio Canto [0-1] vs Yasushi Ashida [0-0]

Canto is the 2nd Brazilian who fought in Brazil and lost to be invited back. He will welcome Ashida who will look to end this bout on the ground with his deadly submissions.

Heavyweight Bout

Monty Olivier [0-2] vs Nakazo Sudo [1-0/0-0]

Oliver will need a win here against Sudo, who impressed UFA Scouts at a local event back in September.

Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Kenji Toma def Daisetsu Sekozawa

Toma looked very big next to Sekozawa who received a loud ovation from his home crowd. Toma began with a takedown attempt, which led to Sekozawa being held against the cage. Two who knees to the thigh followed by a Judo Throw left Toma in full control in full mount. A savage beat down with Elbows followed and the referee forced Toma off his opponent.

Official Result: Kenji Toma defeats Daisetsu Sekozawa (TKO (Strikes) in 1:48 of round 1).

Co Main Event - Upper Lightweight Bout

Yoshisada Seto def Barney Albritton

Seto entered looking about 20lb heavier than Albritton. The first round saw Albritton defend a takedown, but once in a dominant position he could not finish Seto. Seto then took control on their feet before ending the round by slamming Albritton with a huge scoop. Mid 2nd Seto gained control in the clinch, brining Albritton down with a Greco Roman Slam. Straight from the takedown he took Albrittons back and the fight was over.

Official Result: Yoshisada Seto defeats Barney Albritton (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 1:34 of round 2).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Munemitsu Kakinuma def Desiderio Sardinha

Kakinuma capitalized on a missed right cross from Sardinha and landed a huge left of his own which sent him to the mat. The referee was left with no choice but to step in after Kakinuma pounced and landed a bunch of massive lefts. Sardinha missed his opportunity to improve here.

Official Result: Munemitsu Kakinuma defeats Desidério Sardinha (TKO (Strikes) in 1:22 of round 1).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Go Yamamoto def Yevgeni Sipatov

As expected, this fight went the distance. Sipatov ground down Yamamoto early and picked up the 1st round win. Yamamoto then won the 2nd and 3rd and picked up a massive victory over an opponent who not so long ago was in the Lower Middleweight Grand Prix.

Official Result: Go Yamamoto defeats Yevgeni Sipatov (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Heavyweight Bout

Jin Kurofuji def Veeti Kuqi

An amazing fight from both men throughout. There were cuts, wrestling, striking.. this fight had it all. Including a finish from Kurofuji mid 3rd round after he landed a viscous elbow then followed up with an arm triangle. Kuqi could find himself cut after another loss, but an entertaining showing here could save him.

Official Result: Jin Kurofuji defeats Veeti Kuqi (Submission (Arm Triangle) in 3:06 of round 3).

Heavyweight Bout

Kunimichi Kikuchi def Ivano Sorich

Kikuchi managed the victory over Sorich late in the 2nd landing shot after shot after Sorich gave up his back. The fight was poor but Kikuchi still took a moment in his post fight interview to demand a fight with Heavyweight Favourite Hassan Fezzik.

Official Result: Kunimichi Kikuchi defeats Ivano Sorich (TKO (Strikes) in 4:35 of round 2).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Yasushi Ashida def Porfirio Canto

Canto did well in this bout but ultimately for nothing as Ashida locked in a deep Triangle which saw Canto tap moments before being put to sleep.

Official Result: Yasushi Ashida defeats Porfirio Canto (Submission (Triangle) in 2:13 of round 2).

Heavyweight Bout

Nakazo Sudo def Monty Olivier

The night opened with a decision ending which saw Sudo vicorious in all 3 rounds. With little else to show, Olivier took to the center of the ring and announced his retirement from MMA after losses in all 3 of his bouts.

Official Result: Nakazo Sudo defeats Monty Olivier (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Fighter Announces Retirement Plus UFA Releases

In his post fight interview in a loss against Nakazo Sudo, Monty Olivier announced his retirement from MMA. The 37 Year old had 3 fights, with losses in all.

UFA also confirmed multiple roster cuts today as Barney Albritton, Desiderio Sardinha, Veeti Kuqi and Porfirio Canto have all been released. UFA once again wish them the best in future endeavors and continue to emphasise that the door is never truly shut.

Miller Press Conference

In the wake of another successful International Event, Ray Miller has expressed his pleasure with the Contenders Series and praises Barnett for the idea. Speaking on the former owners idea, he said that he loves the opportunity these smaller events give to lesser known fighters that may never fall under their radar under normal circumstances. He continued to lay praise to the show before confirming that there will be atleast 2 more events held this year, the first will be held in London and will spearhead UFA's European Series. Happening sometime around July, he stated that the Main Event will feature Tony McCall vs Stafford Alois in the Heavyweight Division.

Whilst discussing the Heavyweight Division, Miller expressed his excitement building up between the fighters. Recently favorite to win the tournament Hassan Fezzik has been the target of alot of fighters attention, with heat coming not only from "next in line" Jonah Funk, but also Kunimichi Kikuchi who has said that he would jump at the opportunity to face Fezzik.

Miller said that Funk will get the Champion, if its Fezzik or Sharp. And if Fezzik loses that match then its likely Miller will act on Kikuchi's challenge at some point. He did however say that a Win for McCall or Alois will definitely see them "up there".

Miller continued to discuss future plans for the UFA as he moved on to the Upper Middleweight Division. As he mentioned before, Matthew Dean will take on either Yamada or Fuller with the newly crowned champion defending their title. He said that Dean has done very well to come back from such a long term injury and may have found himself in the Championship Final if it wasnt for that.

Looking further down the line he stated that Jerezo is being talked about as a potential behind Dean, but will need to beat fellow Brazilian Zaco before discussions go any further.

When asked on Sean Morrison's next opponent he said that staff were working hard to come to the right decision but unlike the other 2 divisions, its not as clear cut or talent filled. Halvorsen and Machida's names were mentioned before Miller swiftly moved to the Upper Lightweight division.

The Upper Lightweight division has begun to see fighters compete and Miller thinks that by the end of the year UFA will have announced a Grand Prix that will work in the same way as the previous 3. He couldnt offer any more on the subject but did say that he was very excited about Gage Rossignol and saw him as one of the most talented fighters in the company.

Main Event - Heavyweight Final Bout

Hassan Fezzik [4-0/2-0] vs Christopher Sharp [1-0]

[Heavyweight Championship]

After his move from SIGMA, Fezzik has continued to dominate with 2 Knock Out Victories. A heavy favorite here against the younger Sharp. Sharp was invited to the Heavyweight Grand Prix despite having not fought a professional MMA bout. Despite that he advanced by Knocking Out Robert Adelman early in the 2nd. Sharp may not be the favorite but it no terms does that mean he is not capable.

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Zaco [8-4] vs Jerezo [2-0]

Zaco first fought back at TUF3, and at TUF6 he became "The Ultimate Fighter" by defeating Kurt Stonge. Losses come by way of Milne, Morrison, Carlton and Fuller which leads the fans to believe that Zaco crumbles against big names. His fellow Brazilian enters undefeated with 10 fights less than Zaco. Jerezo is entering with a lot of hype behind him and victory could see him push himself into a title picture.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Porter Spradley [1-1] vs Mal Phe Roby [2-0]

Spradley and Roby have been going back and forth since Faas Smit arrived. Both Spradley and Roby have expressed a huge desire to fight Smit, but after his loss to Dean a win here could propel either onto a diversion course away from the former SIGMA Champ, with Smit perhaps taking on the loser.

Heavyweight Bout

Robert Adelman [2-1] vs Frank Analysis [2-3]

Analysis has been around from the start but has never really reached any great heights, a victory over Adelman could change that. Adelman saw a big loss when he last fought against Sharp and will be looking to regain some momentum.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Socorro Fragoso [0-2] vs Desi Bense [1-0/0-0]

Fragoso will need to win here to consider himself safe from cuts after losing both of his opening bouts. Could Bense surprise the crowd and pick up a win. His only fight coming by way of Knockout at a local event.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Bud Machida [2-0] vs Geoff Cahill [3-2]

Both enter on a 2 win streak, with Machida undefeated. The Lower Middleweight division seems to be open for the taking after Morrison became Champion but has no direct match up next. A win could perhaps open a World of opportunities here.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Ezzatollah Karimi [1-2] vs Yee Tsuji [0-2]

Karimi has lost his last 2 after an impressive debut whilst Tsuji has been unfortunate with both of his losses coming against much bigger opponents. Look for him to improve against a more natural weight.

Heavyweight Bout

Jeff Carlton [7-5] vs Gunnar Nilsson [3-3]

Much like many on this card Carlton has been around since the start, going 3-0 in his first 3. With losses from the likes of Morrison, Milne, Dean and Zaco Carlton will need to refind that early momentum against a very good opponent. Nilsson will want to earn a win here and hopefully start a trend, as of yet he is yet to string 2 wins together with his last loss coming by way of TKO 1 minute into the fight against McCall.

Main Event - Upper Middleweight Final Bout

Mac Fuller [6-4] vs Tadamasa Yamada [3-0]

[upper Middleweight Championship]

Yamada has finished all 3 of his previous bouts, the latest against de Souza late in the 1st. Fuller has won his last 2, but has suffered heavy losses prior. 2 of which came against McCall. His other 2 against Dean and Morrison. 1 of these 2 will become Upper Middleweight Champion in a very talent filled division.

Co Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

Elder Vela [0-0] vs Adriano Occhino [2-3]

Vela will drop down in natural weight as he debuts with much excitement against Occhino who's last fight came as a loss against Kurt Stonge, who was originally scheduled to compete in this bout before his injury.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Ezra Thorson [1-0] vs Christophe Lacaze [0-1]

Lacaze and Thorson fought in Canada and will immediately go at it again after Lacaze challenged Thorson to a rematch. Thorson jumped at the chance to add another victory over Lacaze who he submitted first time around.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Gage Rossignol [1-0] vs Zacaris Gomez [1-0]

Rossignol picked up a huge victory over Fiel in Canada and enters as the favorite over Gomez, who's only victory was against Bohlin in a not very exciting decision.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Keagen Clift [0-0] vs Angelino Cascone [1-3]

Clift is a World Class Wrestler and will look to add another loss to Cascone's less than great record.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Gaspar Comtois [1-0] vs Wade LeCavalier [3-0/1-0]

LeCavalier impressed in his time at SIGMA finishing both of his fights, adding another victory to his record when he defeated Knox Hird in Canada. Comtois knocked out Ernest Hord within a minute and should do well against a tougher opponent.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Mario de Souza [4-3] vs Bingen Park [3-2]

5 of de Souza's bouts have ended in a decision with the majority of Parks via a finish. Park comes in off a win and will bring added momentum against an opponent who is relentless not to equal his win tally with losses.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Feofilakt Wolinski [0-1] vs Gagan Borah [0-2]

Wolinski lost in his debut against Cahill and will look to improve, as will Borah who despite having a fantastic fight against Levitsky, has failed to pick up a win in either of his fights.

UFA on Showtime 5: Fezzik vs Sharp

Main Event - Heavyweight Final Bout

Hassan Fezzik def Christopher Sharp

[Heavyweight Championship]

Sharp had full control over Fezzik in the first, dominating him on the mat for the whole round. The second started with Fezzik throwing but not landing a host of jabs, a failed takedown attempt led to him pushing Sharp against the cage. Using his strength, he suplexed Sharp to the ground like a rag doll, landed a knee to the ribs and then closed in with a knee bar. Sharp did so well in the first but Fezzik made sure he finished to become the First Ever UFA Heavyweight Champion.

Official Result: Hassan Fezzik defeats Christopher Sharp (Submission (Kneebar) in 2:15 of round 2).

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Zaco def Jerezo

The 2 Brazilians went straight in, Jerezo eating shots at he looked for a takedown and got it. Zaco rolled out of an arm bar attempt which left Jerezo scrambling for position, in doing so he gave up his back. Now flattened, Jerezo made a huge error by allowing an experienced fighter to lock in the choke.

Official Result: Zaco defeats Jerezo (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 3:23 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Mal Phe Roby def Porter Spradley

A perfect and heated match up saw Roby take the initiative everytime that Spradley looked to engage a take down. Roby took the 1st round. Multiple low kicks caused Spradley to enter the 2nd with a limp and Roby once again took the round after keeping his distance from Spradleys striking, keeping the pressure on with wrestling. Spradley knew he would have to finish the fight in the 3rd, but continued to look to wrestler whilst Roby kept him close and in the clinch. The referee's had an easy decision to make. The question now is, will Roby look at facing Smit or will he look for a chance at putting his name in for title contention.

Official Result: Mal Phe Roby defeats Porter Spradley (Unanimous Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

Heavyweight Bout

Robert Adelman def Frank Analysis

Adelman was the perfect step up for Analysis to prove himself, and Analysis the perfect opportunity for Adelman to refind his winning ways. After a clinch, Analysis was against the cage and then immediately on his back after a Greco Roman Slam. Adelman landed a nasty elbow which opened up Analysis across the forehead. Analysis managed to slip out of the 1st armbar attempt but the 2nd was much deeper and found himself submitting to Adelman.

Official Result:Robert Adelman defeats Frank Analysis (Submission (Armbar) in 2:35 of round 1).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Socorro Fragoso def Desi Bense

After a slow start, the 2 went at it in the center of the ring. The flurry ended but without much damage. Bense saw his chance and went in for a huge take down, unfortunately for him Fragoso managed to setup a guillotine on the way down. It was immediately sunk in and Bense was left with no option but to tap out.

Official Result: Socorro Fragoso defeats Desi Bense (Submission (Guillotine) in 3:52 of round 1).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Geoff Cahill def Bud Machida

It took Machida almost 2 rounds before he looked to grapple Cahill after being beaten from pillar to post in the 1st. But this was too late, already cut across the head from a huge strike, Machida found himself on his back after a crunching right to the jaw. Cahill didnt take long to force the referee to intervene from there. A huge win for Cahill as he potentially jumps in or around the title picture.

Official Result: Geoff Cahill defeats Bud Machida (TKO (Strikes) in 4:17 of round 2).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Ezzatollah Karimi def Yee Tsuji

Tsuji could not live up to his promise as Karimi was too clever for Tsuji. After first slipping out of an armbar, Tsuji thought he was free but Karimi made no mistake in setting up a 2nd submission and finished with a Kimura.

Official Result: Ezzatollah Karimi defeats Yee Tsuji (Submission (Kimura) in 3:35 of round 1).

Heavyweight Bout

Gunnar Nilsson def Jeff Carlton

The 2 veterans put on a mighty opening show leaving the judges to make a decision. Nilsson expressed his disappointment in only winning via split decision as he felt that he had controlled Carlton throughout the bout.

Official Result: Gunnar Nilsson defeats Jeff Carlton (Split Decision in 5:00 of round 3).

LeCavalier Out Of Fight. Debutante Steps In. SIGMA Champion looking to move?

This morning Wade LeCavalier was forced to pull out of his upcoming bout with Gaspar Comtois due to a Swollen Calf Muscle sustained in a heavy training session. UFA were considering cancelling the bout until Loretto Callens offered his services on short notice. Callens is yet to compete within UFA but has been under contract for a few months. Ray Miller has confirmed that the fight has now been signed and Comtois will take on Callens at UFA on Showtime 6: Fuller vs Yamada.

In other news, SIGMA Bantamweight Champion and Undefeated fighter Vojtech Wasco is rumoured to be looking to move. Holding a 5-0 record, Wasco is considered one of SIGMA's brightest talents at only 20 Years Old. It remains to be seen if Wasco will infact move.

Main Event - Upper Middleweight Final Bout

Tadamasa Yamada def Mac Fuller

[upper Middleweight Championship]

In a night that ended with no decisions, Yamada took the gold from Mac Fuller. The 1st was all Yamada as Fuller looked unconfident as they entered the 2nd. A right head kick sent Fuller wobbling into the cage, but managed to dodge the incoming follow up hook. Having regained his head, Fuller stood off with Yamada in the center of the cage, Yamada slipped past with a right hook, jab and then a wicked right head kick. Fuller fell. Yamada pounced and the referee jumped to save his opponent. Yamada becomes the first ever UFA Upper Middlweight Champion and wins the Grand Prix.

Official Result: Tadamasa Yamada defeats Mac Fuller (TKO (Strikes) in 2:11 of round 2).

Co Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

Elder Vela def Adriano Occhino

After being took to the ground by Vela, Occhino eventually took the 1st round as Vela ended with a cut underneath his eye, which the referee looked at and cleared him to carry on. The 2nd started with both men going at it evenly, but mid round Occhino started to breath heavy. His efforts unaffected. The 2 continued but Occhino looked to slow, Vela shot with an outside leg trip sending Occhino to the ground. Vela immediately took Occhinos back and it was good night from there. Vela may have ended the night differently if his Stonge had not pulled out due to injury.

Official Result: Elder Vela defeats Adriano Occhino (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 2:46 of round 2).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Ezra Thorson def Christophe Lacaze

UFA's first immediate rematch saw Lacaze's night end almost exactly the same as last time. Thorson controlled and forced Lacaze to submit again, this time via Kimura. Lacaze deserves credit for seeking revenge, but may have helped his own stocks plummet after 2 heavy losses to Thorson.

Official Result: Ezra Thorson defeats Christophe Lacaze (Submission (Kimura) in 1:31 of round 2).

Upper Lightweight Bout

Zacaris Gomez def Gage Rossignol

Rossignol impressed in his last bout with a super knockout of Fiel, but it seems that despite his popularity, his talents may infact have a limit as Gomez made light work, submitting him with a kneebar in just over 1 minute. Gomez could have just asserted himself as the top fighter in this young division.

Official Result: Zacarís Gómez defeats Gage Rossignol (Submission (Kneebar) in 1:01 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Angelino Cascone def Keagan Clift

Cascone ended Clift in a surprising 39 seconds, which may have been the biggest shock of the night. Clift came in with great expectations but barely had a chance to show them. Cascone may have substantially helped himself after a few prior poor results.

Official Result: Angelino Cascone defeats Keagan Clift (TKO (Strikes) in 0:39 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Loretto Callens def Gaspar Comtois

Callens stepped in after LeCavalier injured himself, on short notice and in his debut he managed to control the minute long bout with his boxing skills, a right hook, slip, jab and kick to the thigh started proceedings before a three strike combo that ended in a right cross sent Comtois to the mat. Callens immediately jumped in, and not long after the referee followed.

Official Result: Loretto Callens defeats Gaspar Comtois (TKO (Strikes) in 0:56 of round 1).

Upper Middleweight Bout

Mario de Souza def Bingen Park

A big right a minute in caused Park to wince in pain, de Souza smashed through Parks defense and began to beat away. Park did nothing but cover up and the referee intervened.

Official Result: Mario de Souza defeats Bingwen Park (TKO (Strikes) in 1:26 of round 1).

Lower Middleweight Bout

Feofilakt Wolinski def Gagan Borah

The night began with a stormer as Wolinski added to Borah's dreadful record. The 2 traded blows before a wicked left uppercut sent Borah to the ground. Wolinski looked to finish but the referee stepped in to prevent further damage.

Official Result: Feofilakt Wolinski defeats Gagan Borah (TKO (Strikes) in 3:01 of round 1).

UFA on Showtime Impresses and Miller Releases First Rankings

Ray Miller today thanked everyone involved with UFA on Showtime 6. He congratulated Yamada on becoming Upper Middleweight Champion and the rest of the fighters for such an impressive night. Every fight ended in a finish or referee stoppage, and not one of those fights exceeded 3 minutes of the 2nd round. He spoke of his respect for Callens not only stepping in on short notice but also for winning his debut bout. He then followed up to say that as all Grand Prix's have no come to a conclusion, and 3 Champions have been found, UFA Divisions will now operate a Ranking System where fighters can earn their respective placements, making it an achievement in itself to earn a shot at the title.

<img alt="RANKING001.jpg" data-src="https://i.ibb.co/wCd9x9K/RANKING001.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Miller dicussed the Rankings in detail and confirmed that Dean and Funk will be the first Challengers to Fezzik and Yamada, as previously announced. And that an opponent for Sean Morrison has been found, that being Geoff Cahill. Cahill and Morrison first fought back at UFA's first ever event The Ultimate Fighter, where Morrison defeated Cahhill via Technical Submission and then went on to win the nights tournament. Cahill will be excited to not only get his revenge, but also a shot at Morrisons Lower Middleweight Title.

Miller confirmed that all 3 Title Fights will headline their own Events beginning as early as July. Further details will be divulged once UFA have finished their business in London for their International Contenders Europe show mid July.

International Contenders Europe To Be Cancelled?

Breaking news today as Stafford Alois has been forced to pull out of his scheduled bout against Tony McCall due to injury. UFA have very few options as replacement with only 2 weeks until the show is set to take place. McCall and Alois were set to face in the Heavyweight division, with Alois being the "home town" favorite as the event will be held in London. Besides from Jonah Funk, Milne is the only other Englishman in the division but would come in on a 2 loss streak, as well as leave Rick Stanley with no opponent as the two are already scheduled to compete on that very card. Ray Miller is set to release a press conference in the next day or so.

Europe Replacement Found and Full Card Finally Released

Ray Miller's press conference informed the crowd that a replacement had been found, not only because he was glad that they held back on releasing the full card until now so that things were less complicated when things need to be reshuffled, but also because as unfortunate as Alois' injury was, it presented them with the opportunity to bring in another World Champion from SIGMA. Ari Peltonen will represent Europe against Tony McCall.

Full Card

Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

Tony McCall [#6][5-2] vs Ari Peltonen[3-0/0-0]

McCall and Alois was originally scheduled to compete before Alois was forced to pull out with an injury. With only 2 weeks left before the event, UFA were left with little option but to approach SIGMA Heavyweight Champion Ari Peltonen. Already a draw in Europe, Ari was the perfect choice. According to sources, Ari was in top shape before approached by UFA and should have no issues with a short camp. The question remains to be seen whether the winner will still be given an opportunity at Fezzik or Funk if indeed Peltonen does somehow win.

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Nigel Malley [#9][2-2] vs Jamison Cox [0-0]

All of Malleys bouts have ended in the 1st. He is currently on a 2 win streak after defeated Ernie Bruns and then Andreyev back at UFA on Showtime 3. Home town boy Cox enters with a hype train that is in full steam. Look for him to utilize his World Class Boxing and look for an early knockout.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Gabrielo Fiel [0-1] vs Francesco Marazzina [2-2]

Fiel was brutally knocked out by Rossignol in Canada, but has been gifted a second opportunity as he takes on Marazzina who has had mixed results.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Harry Burleson [0-0] vs Arkados Uzelac [#7][1-0]

Uzelac destroyed Daudelin in his debut bout and will welcome Burleson to the UFA cage.

Heavyweight Bout

Iestyn Squires [0-0] vs Jan Eliasen [0-0]

Representing Manchester, England and Norway, these 2 heavyweights will look to earn a second chance in the UFA by impressing. Squires will use his highly technical submissions whilst Eliasen will look to control his opponent with Jiu-Jitsu.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Knox Hird [2-3] vs Mantas Andreyev [2-4]

All of Hirds bouts have ended in a decision bar 1. Both enter with mixed results. Impressing in 1 bout followed by a poor performance. Both are at risk of being cut if they cannot pick up some momentum.

Heavyweight Bout

Rick Stanley [2-4] vs Harry Milne [6-4]

Milne was considered to face McCall again in the Main Event but would be entering on a 2 loss streak. He certainly has the abilities but big losses against the likes of Fezzik, Morrison and Dean. Stanley is yet to reach the heights expected but does have 2 wins against his name.

Upper Middleweight Bout

Zvonimir Asanovic [0-0] vs Aleksei Chekhov [0-0]

Both will debut here in the opener. Asanovic will no doubt throw plenty of kicks, mainly to the head whilst Chekhov will look to overwhelm with his kick boxing.

UFA: Its Showtime!

UFA: The Ultimate Fighting Association

Week 4 June 1992

Universal-Fighting-Alliance.jpg

UFA on Showtime 7: Fezzik vs Funk

Full Card

UFA007.jpg

Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

Hassan Fezzik [C][5-0/3-0] vs Jonah Funk [#2][3-0]

[Heavyweight Championship]

Funk earned his opportunity over his last few fights by staying undefeated in 3.Most importantly against Aki Hida in a Title Eliminator. Fezzik dominated in SIGMA and has continued to do so in UFA. It'll be a tough fight for both.

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Wade LeCavalier [#3][3-0/1-0]vs Terrance Bushman [2-0]

LeCavalier has recovered since being forced to pull out of a fight with Comtois back in May and will now take on Bushman, who is highly regarded as one of the best fighters in the division. Both are undefeated.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Nevio Desio [0-1] vs Brandon Sugar [1-1]

Sugar will look to get back to winning ways against an opponent who is more than capable, but is yet to really show himself.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Dan Halvorsen [#7][3-2] vs Jack Humphreys [3-1]

Despite beating Brandon Sugar last time out, Humphreys finds himself in a lower card position. Looking to make a stamp on this division he will need to go through Dan Halvorsen. Halvorsen was a name being thrown around to take on Sean Morrison, but mixed results, and wins over lesser talented fighters prevented him. Humphreys is a big enough name to show the UFA brass that he is ready.

Heavyweight Bout

Christopher Sharp [1-1] vs Aki Hida [1-3]

Hida heads into this bout with a poor record and Sharp will need to win after losing to Fezzik for the title.

Upper Lightweight Bout

Ezzatollah Karimi [2-2] vs Lars Bohlin [1-3]

Karimi has found himself back in the W column and will look to add to Bohlins already poor start in UFA.

Heavyweight Bout

Tim Boyer [3-0/0-0] vs Jack Cobblepot [1-2]

Cobblepot has not fought since February 1991 when he beat Kuqi, and will welcome Boyer to UFA. Boyer holds an undefeated record, albeit it on the local stage.

Lower Middleweight Bout

Tyler Grafton [0-2] vs Mbwana De Sousa [0-2]

Grafton has lost to both Halvorsen and Humphreys who compete against each other on this card, and will need a win over De Souza who has suffered the same fate against Humphreys and Sugar.

Main Event - Heavyweight Bout

Ari Peltonen def Tony McCall

McCall entered as the favourite when Peltonen accepted this bout on 2 weeks notice. Looking to bring over his SIGMA success, the European stamped his name on the division with an emphatic win over a top Heavyweight Contender. A failed takedown saw Peltonen in control of McCall against the cage before a 2nd attempt was successful. Once in control Peltonen looked to set McCall up to give his back, which he did and the night was over. McCall looked out of sorts here, and could perhaps be excused for expecting this bout to be a stand and bang much like if Alois had not pulled out.

Official Result: Ari Peltonen defeats Tony McCall (Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in 3:47 of round 1).

Co Main Event - Upper Middleweight Bout

Jamison Cox def Nigel Malley

Cox is a huge amateur boxing star in England and the fans went crazy as he made his MMA debut against Malley. The 2 put on a show with Cox hitting more often, and harder. An accidental eye poke from Cox gave Malley a little time to recover but it wasnt long before Cox had knocked him down with a huge right hook to the jaw. Malley had no defense for the onslaught that followed and the referee intervened.

Fiel again failed to impress as Marazzina ended him early in the 1st with a guillotine against the cage. Surely this is Fiel's last chance in a UFA cage?

Arkados Uzelac def Harry Burleson

Another fight that looked destined for decision. Uzelac continually worked on Burlesons leg, and by the 2nd he was visibly limping. Most of the fight was fought on the mat with the referee again having to stand them back up on multiple occasions. Once back up late in the 3rd, Burleson looked unwilling to fight it out and looked for more grappling, Uzelac landed 2 quick jabs and a right cross followed by a huge right through the middle of Burlesons guard. He was rocked. Burlesons covered up as the referee pulled Uzelac from him.

Stanley went on the immediate attack, setting up big strikes and combos until Milne successfully landed the takedown. Milne was too talented for Stanley and the round ended. Zvonimir Asanovic def Aleksei Chekhov

The 1st round featured a lot of clever attacks from both me, stepping and landing and then retreating. Chekhov looked to have took the round. Asanovic tied things up as he looked the more aggressive in the 2nd, leaving Chekhov on the back foot. The 2 came to blows in the 3rd, but nothing came of it as the decision went to the judges.
