CornellVerse 2020: New Legacies

A mod made by ChairToFace, New Legacies covers what the CornellVerse might be like in 2020. Full of shocking events, the mod features interesting scenarios. Five workers have left Japan to work for TCW. COTT's success has started rumors of international expansion. The SoCal Wars have erupted on the west coast. Japan is recovering from the 2016 tsunami. Multiple small companies are beginning to grow to challenge the top promotions. It's 2020, and as the old stars retire, new legends are born.

In November 2018, I began working on a CornellVerse 2020 mod for TEW 2016. I had long thought about doing a mod for it, and I always thought the next TEW game would be set in 2020. A little over a month into my work on the mod, TEW 2020 was announced, so I changed the name to the Alternate CornellVerse 2020 database. Originally, I intended to make it a personal mod, but I've recently decided to release it. While I can't yet determine a release data, I do hope to get it released around the release of TEW 2020, as I intend to make it available for that game, and this could also be a nice mod for TEW 2016 players to play until they can get TEW 2020.

While a large amount of minor things must be done, I've completed editing of all promotions and their rosters. I've edited their title histories, their HOF's (except the individual points), and I've added some injuries, along with current injuries. I've added two excursions and edited the HOI points of certain workers in major companies. I've made some narratives, and have set certain promotions to open.

This thread will cover changes to the mod, changes made so far, and will continue until it's released. Following release, a number of updates will occur. Testing hasn't begun yet, but I hope to begin it within the next 6 months.

UPDATE

This mod is likely never going to be properly done. This was the first mod project I attempted, and I shouldn't have attempted such a large feat on my first try. Though the mod isn't playable, as all workers have their TEW 2016 stats and pop, it could give some people ideas for their own saves. Consider these my personal preferences and predictions for how the CVerse should look in 2020.

Originally, work was being done on workers. However, I was extremely poor at this, and despite the help of CreeperGav, it would obviously be a burden that would get in the way of more important work for us. I redid the data, and tried editing some workers pop and bios. Half of 21CW's roster have their popularity altered. Other than that, workers are the same as they were in TEW 2016.

Canadian Golden Combat

<div style="text-align:center;">Canadian Golden Combat are the DeColt family's company and was one of the traditional 'big two' in Canada. From day one the promotion had been built around the heroic babyfaces of the DeColt family and their struggles with various heel factions who come to fight against them. It was a simple formula but one that worked.

CGC founder and mastermind George DeColt finally retired from the business in 2009, allowing his son Alex to take control. Unfortunately the pressures of being in charge seem to have brought out the worst in him, and fans noticed a drop-off in quality since Alex decided to take over the booking too.

In 2018, Ricky DeColt left CGC and went to NOTBPW after an argument with Alex over booking the company. Seeing that CGC may die, Alex handed over booking to brother Jack DeColt, who has been forced to push other people, as he's getting ready to retire. Whether Jack can save CGC has yet to be seen.</div>

This post lists all changes I've made to Canadian Golden Combat. Continuing to die a slow and painful death, CGC are now on the verge of dropping to regional. They now have $1,000,000 and aren't looking very good. In 2018, brother Ricky DeColt had a major argument with Alex over the booking of the company. Believing younger stars like Christian Price and Antonio were the future of the company, DeColt said that fans were getting smarter and were starting to revolt against the DeColt supremacy. To prove this, he pointed out how when DaLay beat Price in 2016 to become the #1 contender, then beat Jack for the belt, fans booed throughout Jack and Dan's entire match. Alex didn't believe this, and Ricky left the company, heading to NOTBPW where he now teams with brother Steve.

Once Ricky left, Jack, who was livid with Ricky for abandoning the family company, convinced Alex that Ricky could have a point about pushing other people. Jack was given the booking spot, and as he prepares to retire, he's been pushing guys like Christian Price, and Antonio, but CGC have lost Donte Dunn and Gargantuan, while Dan DaLay and The New Soldiers of Fortune have retired. They've hired Ant-Man, but he isn't happy about his superhero gimmick. Now, workers like Price, Antonio, Ant-Man, The Montreal Mafia, and others are threatening to leave if Jack shows more of his egotistical DeColt supremacy. Is it to late to save CGC, or can Jack bring the company back to life.

George DeColt died in August 2019, and the first George DeColt Memorial Tournament will be held at this year's first day of the DeColt WrestleFestival.

All Canada Pro Wrestling

Formed in August 2009, All Canada Pro Wrestling were a small promotion who hoped to emulate 4C's success in giving fans an alternative to the NOTBPW \ CGC powerhouse combination that dominates the Canadian wrestling scene.

ACPW's hook was that they focus entirely on smaller athletes, utilising a 230lb weight limit on their roster. As a result of this the promotion almost entirely featured fast-paced exciting matches with an emphasis on showcasing the work-rate and dedication of their wrestlers.

This formula didn't work forever, and in June 2017, ACPW closed their doors, with the promotion being sold to 4C. Their workers scattered across the world, with most going to 4C, but some also went to SAISHO, CGC, NOTBPW, NYCW, CZCW, and the Canadian Indie circuit.

Following a lot of money problems, All Canada Pro Wrestling closed. Owner Daedalus Buchinsky wasn't able to keep the promotion open forever without going bankrupt himself, so he told his workers the promotion would be closed in June 2017. They began looking for work elsewhere, and by the time the company died, they'd found new jobs.

I like the scenarios in it. I had planned some things to occur in my mod if TEW 2020 was announced, so I watched the developer's journal as I was making my mod. Was somewhat disappointed when I learned that the rest of Latin America hadn't been added, as I planned to make SOTBPW expand into Central and South America, and America, so they would basically be responsible for an increase in wrestling popularity in Latin America. Still, with India being added and Australia being renamed to Oceania, I'll have some interesting things I'll try to add. Currently looking around for renders of certain things, like masked luchadoras, so I can use them in a luchadora company. Right now though I'm planning to just use a combination of OLLIE, QAW, and CILL women along with some unemployed women.

Canadian Charisma Championship Combat

The company with the most unwieldly name in world wrestling, Canadian Charisma Championship Combat are the alternative to the more established NOTBPW and CGC promotions. Nobody outside of the company's hardcore fan base expected them to last very long when they were formed but they have proven everybody wrong by not only surviving, but thriving.

Their roster is comprised of a combination of exciting, unproven young talent and more experienced workers who have been overlooked or mis-used by bigger promotions. The result is a roster of workers who are hungry for success and this can easily be seen in 4C's fast-paced, physically demanding matches.

In June 2017, ACPW closed and sold itself to 4C, and many of the workers went to 4C. 4C's popularity and starpower grew, and in December 2018 they left COTT. They look to be ready to challenge CGC and NOTBPW within the next few years.

4C has managed to grow quite a bit. They were dominating the regional scene and ACPW couldn't keep up, resulting in ACPW selling out to 4C. 4C picked up who they wanted, and let go of the rest. They are now on the verge of hitting cult size, and have a TV and events deal. Following the buying of ACPW, former ACPW booker Face Nelson was given he job in 4C, after owner Troy Winner decided he'd be better than Too Hot for the job. This has made some tension between Nelson and Too Hot.

Aside from the new ACPW alumni, 4C have added some of their Combat Academy graduates. They've lost some people to NOTBPW, such as Thunder & Lightning. Frankie Dee and Sayeed Ali work for more companies than 4C.

In December 2018, 4C made the decision to leave the COTT alliance, and they made an agreement with Sam Keith that no COTT company would be hostile towards 4C as a result of them leaving the alliance. They've only grown since leaving, and are now ready to challenge the dying CGC.

Ultimate Championship Wrestling

Ultimate Championship Wrestling are a hardcore company running out of Ontario who want to bring a new revolution of violence to Canadian fans. Created by R.K. Hayes, it blends the no-frills hardcore mindset with the devil-may-care attitude that comes with the more modern cutting edge style.

UCW hope to create a cult-like buzz for themselves that will allow them to take the fight to NOTBPW, CGC, and co. They've already hired Sayeed Ali, who also works for 4C and American hardcore company PSW.

In TEW 2016, UCW is a promotion that is set to open at a random date. I decided to have it open in November 2019, only two months before the game begins. It retains it's default stats, and the owner is RK. Hayes, while the booker is referee David Poker. It's star is Sayeed Ali, who's become known in PSW after expanding his employers from 4C, who he still works for. They have teams like Death Row, former NOTBPW Tag Champions Harlem & Haynes, and guys like Jerry Martin, Sterling Whitlock, and Philippe LaGrenier.

North Of The Border Pro Wrestling

North Of The Border Pro Wrestling is the Stone family's company and has been the biggest promotion in Canada since the late 1980s. Their success has been down to a simple combination; great workers being given time to have great matches. They are beloved in Canada but often derided by US fans for being 'soulless'.

NOTBPW's founder Dan Stone retired in 2011, handing over the reins of power to Jeremy Stone, with his daughter Victoria Stone continuing as head booker, a role she has excelled in. Victoria has been responsible for the hiring of several workers such as Hugh de Aske and Alicia Strong, and they now have two DeColt's in the promotion. They have a roster full of old veterans who can still fight and young wrestlers looking to prove themselves.

They've recently started a working agreement with AAA and TCW. They also have gotten broadcast deals in Japan. With the promotion in good hands, NOTBPW's future continues to look bright.

North Of The Border Pro Wrestling's popularity has grown. They have 90% popularity across Canada, and have 15% popularity across Japan. They have deals with J-Network East 3 for TV and events.

NOTBPW managed to steal Alicia Strong from USPW. They also have a number of workers, including Hugh de Aske and Jay Becker. They have some AAA women on PPA deals.

Lee Bennett and The Natural have retired and are road agents for the company. Craig Prince left the company in 2019 to become a road agent for GCG. Following Lee Bennett's retirement, Team Toronto was inducted into the Hall of Immortals.

New Canadian Wrestling Federation

New Canadian Wrestling Federation is a company founded by Canadian legend Ed Monton. Using a product very similar to the old Canadian Wrestling Federation of the 1980s, the company is off to a good start. Monton used his own money, plus investors money to get it up, and using old fans memories of the old CWF, the company has a decent starting fanbase as well. Monton talked with MAW owner Sam Keith and his company is also in the COTT alliance, giving the alliance a boost in prestige.

The New Canadian Wrestling Federation is a company set to open in Canada in November 2020. Founded by Canadian veteran Ed Monton, the company intends to be a new form of the old CWF. They'll start at a regional size, with 45% popularity in their home region of Ontario, with 30% popularity everywhere else in Canada. They'll have $1,000,000 in their account, so they'll start off well.

They use a product called "New Canadian Traditional". This product is similar to CWF's product, and it includes the following:

LimeStone City Wrestling

LimeStone City Wrestling is a small wrestling promotion based in Kingston, Ontario. The promotion loves it's city, and hosts all of it's shows there. Using a modern, high flying style, the company could make this product of wrestling popular across Canada if it were to expand. For now though, it's giving the citizens of Kingston fast paced wrestling it enjoys.

Based in Kingston, Ontario, LCW is a local sized promotion, with 8% popularity in Ontario. They start with $100,000 and have no founder set. Unlike NCWF, they aren't set to open at a particular date. They use a product called "Limestone City Style", which is focused on a large amount of high flying.

Low: Cult

They don't use a heel/face system, and all matches are to be called in the ring.

I have a teenie, tiny request for you to consider, you can obviously ignore it and I will do it on my personal save anyways, but I always found the names “North/South of the Border Pro Wrestling” ridiculous and quite frankly stupid, as they make no sense.

Two of the biggest wrestling communities in the world, with tradition that goes 80+ years back, and you’re telling me their names are centered around the US?

Why on earth will a Canadian and Mexican have their names based on America?

So, if my rant sounds good to you, I’d suggest a rebrand for both companies, something that focuses on Canada and Mexico and not the US.

I have always wondered why they were like that, but I didn't bother to question it. Do you have any name suggestions? The best I can come up with is the Stone Wrestling Association, Stone Family Wrestling, and Internacional Lucha Libre. I'd also need some kinda of logos, and possibly championship belt renders to redesign it.

I thought about it after reading that and "stone family wrestling" was one I thought of lol. I actually like the name north of the border pro wrestling, it's SOTBPW that seems a bit meh now!

Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling

Back in the 1990s, at a time when the SWF's Sports Entertainment product dominated all aspects of American wrestling, people said that a tiny promotion from California couldn't possibly hope to survive by promoting fast-paced matches with lightweight workers. CZCW did it anyway and have now been in business for nearly 30 years. Longtime owner Cliff Anderson retired from the business in 2018 and sold CZCW to billionaire referee Pee-Wee Germaine, who's used his money to help the company in a lot of ways.

Always open to working with others, CZCW have long had strong ties with various lucha libre promotions, and in 2011 were also founding members of the Confederation Of The Territories alongside staunch ally MAW and also NYCW.

CZCW is now more popular across the country. They have 55% popularity in the south west, 30% popularity in the mid-south, 25% popularity in the mid-west, 35% popularity in the north west, and 10% popularity in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. They have a TV deal with a new broadcaster called Luchador Americana, and an events deal with MySelect USA.

Pee-Wee Germaine is the owner. The Guru remains as the booker. They now have $2,500,000 to use, and are ready to rise. While they've lost Donnie J, Rich & Famous, and Frankie Perez, they've gained Remmy Skye, Marc DuBois, Frankie Dee, American Elemental II, and others, Skye and DuBois, motivated by their second chance and being pushed (plus some rehab), are no longer on drugs. Skye is considered the CZCW figurehead.

CZCW's roster seems incredible here, Frankie Perez is one of my CV favorites, but it also seems like a lot of problematic workers are part of this roster (DuBois especially), will be interesting to see it shape out with 2.5M though.

for the names, South could definitely have a universal name, something in English as they are expanding everywhere, Lucha Libre World, Lucha Libre Internacional sound good to me but again, you can find much better people for names than i am

They're no longer on drugs. I don't know if I changed their personality. Still, they're now marked as reformed, so they should be alright. Also, most of my graphics come from different threads around the forums. I have some graphics that I might be able to rename SOTBPW, but they aren't exactly right.

NYCW are unapologetically a throwback to an older era. Created by old-school veteran The Stomper, they have changed little since their debut in 1988; to this day, they provide slow paced traditional wrestling with minimal glitz, almost as if caught in a time warp from 1976. While this has stopped them from ever expanding outside of the Tri-State area, their loyal fan base would have it no other way, pointing out that while it may not be glamorous, it is consistently value for money.

The Stomper retired in 2010, handing over the promotion to his chosen successor, Larry Vessey. He has gone with a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" strategy and kept NYCW firmly on their usual old-school course. With Vessey on the verge of retirement, there are rumors that Steve Flash could take over. However, other rumors say Flash wants to start his own company, so NYCW's future is unknown.

With 36% popularity in the Tri-State, they also have 18% popularity in New England, and 15% popularity in the Great Lakes and the Mid Atlantic. They have $500,000.

Referee Michael Bull has retired, and Royce Greig has replaced him. Steve Flash finally retired. The Dynamite Express are in the company, as they're working for 3 companies, becoming the team know across the Indie Scene. Some veterans have been added.

Wrestling legend Rip Chord, upon his retirement in 2005, used his own money to set up Mid Atlantic Wrestling. A throwback to the old days of small territorial promotions, the idea behind the company was to provide an evironment where young wrestlers could hone their skills and be prepared for life in the big leagues.

Chord retired in 2011 and handed the promotion and its mission over to his friend, Sam Keith. MAW has continued to go from strength to strength and has an enviable record when it comes to producing top quality talent. Now, as Keith prepares to retire, the company looks to go to referee Jay Fair, although there are some rumors the company could be sold to the SWF and become it's child company.

Mid Atlantic Wrestling are still considered one of the best places for young talent. They've got 28% popularity in the Mid-Atlantic. They now have $250,000. While stars such as Greg Gauge and Roderick Remus have moved on to bigger companies, they've made George Wolfe one of their main people, and I've added a new second generation worker who's just made his debut.

Puerto Rico's first major wrestling organisation, FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling was created in 2007 by national hero Puerto Rican Power and his close friend Shawn Gonzalez. With the demise of DAVE just a few months earlier they felt that there was a gap in the market and an obvious pool of newly unemployed talent that they could tap into.

The focus of the promotion is on a traditional type of wrestling with strong characters helping draw fans to the arena to see hard-hitting action. Puerto Rican Power's phenomenal popularity is the key to their entire operation however. The tragic death of Shawn Gonzalez in 2011 hit the promotion hard, but they have regrouped since and are continuing to make steady progress. They joined the COTT alliance and are working with promotions in Mexico, and are now the premier promotion in Puerto Rico.

FCW are growing in Puerto Rico. They have broadcasting deals for TV and events on TV Puerto Rico. Carl Batch is now the head booker of the company. Hell's Bouncer and Kirk Jameson are going to USPW, while Bull Wrecker is in SWF. Puerto Rican Power is refusing to retire, as he wants to keep using his star power to build up the company, and is now wrestling less. The company has 48% popularity in Puerto Rico. They have $500,000 to use.

Kirk going to USPW is a shame but makes a lot of sense, I thought Bouncer would be a great Japanese star (especially with his Colossus alter ego), but again USPW work for him too

Since they're international size, they need about 50 active wrestlers on the roster, so that's about how many I put in there. Also, I misspoke when talking about him. Hell's Bouncer is actually going to SWF, where he's in a tag team with John Greed. I said he was going to USPW because I wasn't looking at his profile while I was writing it.
