Jamie Hayter and Bea Priestly are already signed but unavailable. Ivelisse is problematic. Tessa has fallen out with IMPACT now so she's super problematic.

 

Priscilla Kelly, Cheerleader Melissa, Allysin Kay, Madison Eagles, Nicole Savoy, Thunder Rosa (when her NWA contract runs out if it hasn't already) and Solo Darling would be the best stateside talent to sign up. Most of them are super experienced.

 

Yeah, that's the problem with them. They don't want to sign older girls. They want developmental type girls that nobody has heard of and are good. Melissa and Madison Eagles are out. Savoy isn't young, so it's basically Tessa, and that's it for names outside. And if she's a diva in IMPACT where they've treated her like a build-around star, no thanks. I'd love to see them change course so Melissa and Madison can get their top run. But I don't think it's going to happen.

<p>Really liked that show. The Anna Jay swerve was weird and a nice shock, but I don't know how I feel about that. Anna Jay deserves better than a squash ya know? Tag title match was good, main event was good despite a rather anticlimactic finish to the match. I freaking love Absolute Ricky, favorite from NWA for sure, so seeing him there was awesome. I hope he gets signed, but they plugged the "you don't have to be in AEW to answer this open challenge" shtick a lot so I'm not so sure. I like Brian Cage and I like Mox, but something just isn't clicking for me there.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, Orange Cassidy just beat up Chris Jericho to stand tall at the end of a wrestling show on TNT. </p><p> </p><p>

Now he is the softer, funnier Mike. <p>- Natural Nightmares vs Omega & Page © was great. QT pulling a risky move and failing after Allie came out was a nice touch. Dr. Britt using pulley system to deliver notes to Tony was unique.</p><p>

- Anna Jay hype video! I'm glad they acknowledged she's a rookie who still has a lot to learn. Takes the pressure off her when viewers don't expect her to wrestle like a veteran. Abadon's return and win was a surprise. They can build her up to put over Swole or Shida.</p><p>

- Colt got an offer he can't refuse. Run Anna run.</p><p>

- MJF vs Billy was good. Brawl!</p><p>

- Tony messed up with Britt. LOL Swole.</p><p>

- Cody © vs Starks was great and so was the promo. Starks is on par with the likes of Jungle Boy, Sammy, Darby and MJF. Tony confirmed he's signed.</p><p>

- Superbad Squad vs Young Bucks was great. Another brawl!</p><p>

- Taz & Cage with the high intensity promo. Wardlow vs Luchasaurus should lead to a tag team match at Fyter Fest. Dr. Britt needs a new assistant.</p><p>

- Le Sex Gods vs Best Friends was great. This one could have gone either way. Cassidy with the maximum effort.</p>

The roster of young guys AEW is building is great. MJF, Jungle Boy, Sammy, Darby, Ricky Starks, and both Hangman and Wardlow to an extent. The majority of those guys are in their early to mid 20s and will grow more and more ans we will get to watch them on TV go through that. Similar to how NJPW and other Japanese promotions do it with their young lions/trainees.

Dynamite was a blast this week. Pun intended. I'm so happy for Ricky to make it to the "big leagues". If AEW can keep all their younger talent healthy and relavant there's plenty of talent to go around.

 

Jericho making Best Friends look awesome is a nice touch and makes me enjoy Jericho even more. He's not putting himself over at the expense of the younger guys. Sammy and Jericho are so fun together. Even if the Inner Circle implodes I hope Jericho and Sammy stay affiliated with each other.

 

Looking forward to Omega/Page vs Best Friends.

 

I'm also cautiously optimistic about Penelope Ford vs Shida. Ford improves every match and she's a knockout.

 

Hopefully they can keep Cage's aggressive behavior going into the match with Mox. He's got a lot of fire but hopefully it doesn't fizzle out. I expect Mox to retain, but Cage should offer a different type of match up than what we've gotten out of Moxley so far.

Shida seems to go out of her way to make her opponents look good. Not just things like selling, but reacting to the actual character. I'm thinking of her Dark matches against Abadon and Dani Jordyn as prime examples.

Stellar cards on paper. Glad the Lucha Bros are back.

- Wardlow vs Luchasaurus was great. I'm surprised it wasn't the main event. Best Friends actually dressed as lumberjacks LOL.

- Shida squashing Red Velvet and brawling with Ford and Sabian was fun. Not the sunglasses! Either Starks is good at selling or he got hit in the face for real.

- The press conference was OK in a cheesy way. Liked Cody putting over Starks.

- Kiss & Janela vs Colt & Lee was good. Janela vs Archer should be fun.

- SCU vs FTR was my MOTN. Nice promo from Blade. Lucha Bros!

- Great hype video for the Tag Title match.

- Cage killed Jon Cruz. They've done a good job of making him look unstopabble.

- Dr. Britt wasn't smart enough for Swole.

- Santana vs Broken Hardy was good.

- Jericho has a knack for putting over his opponents while still being an a-hole. Cassidy fighting like a madman and bleeding again!

 

Renee has COVID so not looking good for Mox.

My Dynamite review:

 

Luchasaurus vs Wardlow: worst lumberjack match I've ever seen. The lumberjacks literally didn't do anything to keep the guys in the ring. Might as well have booked this a a normal match. Aside of that I thought it was kinda funny when Luchasaurus did a leg sweep and Wardlow fell over in the wrong direction

 

Shida vs Ford: I mean they had no match but that's what it was about. Can't believe they put Ford in a title match, she's god awful in the ring and even botched 2 moves in their 20 second ringside brawl

 

Fyter Fest presser: excellent promo, great job by everybody involved.

 

Janella and Kiss gas station clip: eh .... no. Just no.

 

Lee/Cabana vs Janella/Kiss: Not quite as bad as the gas station clip.

 

btw: I really like that they keep Britt Baker on screen while she's injured, she's doing a great job building her character.

 

FTR vs SCU: you expect a great match with these 4 guys in the ring ... and that's exactly what we got. Outstanding. Great angle afterwards too. I have to say Butcher and Blade looked pretty bad during their time in AEW but since their program with FTR started they actually show that they can be quite good if used right.

 

Omega/Page vs Best Friends; Mox vs Cage promos: okay I guess, nothing special.

 

Cage vs random dude: kinda what you expect from a squash match, got the job done. Good promo by Tazz afterwards.

 

Lee/Cabana angle: actually good. Cabana's facial expressions are great.

 

Santana vs Matt Hardy: 2 guys that know how to work, so not too surprising that this match was pretty good.

 

Y2J/OC angle: Jericho was gold on the mic, as always. OC doing his usual clown show. Brawl in the stands was okay but nonetheless a pretty anticlimactic ending to the show.

Zicky Dice requested his release from NWA. Here's hoping AEW swoops in and picks him up. He would be a good opponent for Cody's open challenge gimmick.

I know they're filming Fyter Fest this week, but she could have came to Florida secretly.

 

I know she is full of drama right now but man, she's a top five female worker in North America. Maybe having her dad around could help ground her.

Tessa would be a bad look for AEW. She suffers from locker room elitism, refused to do jobs at the last minute that she had previously agreed to and is racist (with witnesses to back that up).

 

Thunder Rosa and Deonna (who isn't on a permanent Impact contract) have expressed interest in AEW so I wouldn't be surprised to see them join at a later date. For now they have enough women to get by until international travel restrictions are eased, especially once Britt and Statlander are healthy.

The easy answer to the 4th would be Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard, but I'm not a huge fan of Spears, and having two managers for the group may not be the best idea. Although it could work....

I also don't want to see Cody turn heel, but they're ever so subtly hinting at it. The Cody we've seen since DoN is not the same Cody. His promos, his role in his matches, etc.

 

I want him to stay a face so badly since he gets insane pops and has amazing babyface fire, but I think by the end of the year (or later, it'll be after fans come back) he'll be a heel.

I thought Dynamite was really good this week, I loved Luchasaurus vs. Wardlow and the Cabana/Brodie vs. Janela/Kiss tag match was great too.

 

The only things on the show I wasn't a fan of was the Cody/Hager presser, which was boring to me but I find that stuff boring in boxing and MMA so go figure.

 

I didn't much like the Santana vs. Hardy match either. PnP are starting to feel wasted in AEW, they lose too much and their comedy schtick is fun but they need to back it all up in the ring. Can they just ratchet up the intensity and be badasses like they were in TNA please?

I think it's Rachael Ellering. It's right down Tony Khan's street to hire Paul Ellering's daughter when she's a free agent and she recently tweeted that she's been ready to wrestle for ages, she's back, she can't wait to return, etc etc.
