All matches are set for the upcoming RISE double header and it's going to be a huge weekend! All five young boys will be in action on both days and have great opportunities with more experienced wrestler. With Darin Flynn is 19 years old, from BirminghamWCG is welcoming the first foreign young boy in their dojo. Flynn trained at 21CW's Dojo and graduated in 2017. People from all over the world are coming to RISE Night 1 & 2!! From NYCW, FCW, SAISHO, to Free Agents, it feels like a big deal even with it being a midcard event.

Myiake & Kamisaka get in both main events, it'll be interesting to see what happens when he faces GCG guys each night. Will Miyake be able to show he is someone to watch out for, will Kamisaka stick around, interesting dynamics.

Tanyu Toshuai gets two singles matches here which could indicate management having high hopes for him. He does have alot of talent so he could be guy WCG could utilize well.

Nigel Svennson is on his first tour as a solo, it's only two shows, but stil getting his feet wet as a solo heavyweight is a big deal. I'll be intrigued to see if he can handle the new found role or if he'll be lost without his partner to constantly tag in and out. They did mutually split so he's had time to prepare to be a single but nothing is like actually performing so we'll see what he's got.

8. Kiyotaka & Motoyuki Miyake def. Lion Genji GCG.jpg & Kado Kamisaka GCG.jpg (15m45s) when Miyake used a PK on Genji [44]

- Hard hitting fight in the main event. You could cleary see that nobody wanted to bring shame to their respective promotion. Miyake and Kamisaka clashed brutally, just one night before their singles bout, and had great exchanges. However it was Miyake who had the last laugh: The Penalty Kick connected for three.

- A pure sporting contest was expected when the Legion faced a Junior Heavyweight team of aussie man Black Flash, the new zealander X-Calibre and JOJI, who made a career in the US-Indy scene. However Joffy Laine, a arrogant man who laced his boots in Puerto Rico, had no desire to have a match with those guys. Laine did not drop his sunglasses, swang around his umbrella and just interacted with the crowd. But he saw his moment coming when Legion dispatched Flash, suddenly Laine took the opportunity and finished Flash. What a pr*ck!

- Two good singles performance by Nigel Svensson and Tanyu Toshusai. Toshusai, he left both BCG and GCG (just like Okamoto did a year ago), stated backstage that he's seeing RISE as an opportunity to find a new home. Svensson though was pretty concerned that Miyake got big spots and not him. The Swede said that he's looking forward to show his ability as a wrestler and he's aiming to face Miyake soon.

- Big debut! Strong Kanegou and Takeshi Ishimari made their wrestling debut on RISE facing two young boys and the timing was all over the place. The two stars of the famous japanese TV-show "Palace Run" won by a Chokebomb.

8. Motoyuki Miyake def. Kado Kamisaka GCG.jpg (14m45s) with a PK [54]

- Motoyuki Miyake had his hands full with a fiery Kado Kamisaka! "Serene K" was pretty dangerous, always targeted Miyake's neck to prepare for his main attacks. You could see that Kamisaka is more experienced than Miyake, however the xDREAM man devastating offensive maneuvers broke Kamisaka further into the match. After the Penalty Kick the match was over! The two shook hands afterwards, Miyake even stated that Kamisaka could be a good addition to the WCG roster.

- Like yesterday Joffy Laine got no interested in fighting no nonsense guys like Legion. Sugimura got so mad that he threw Laine in every corner of the tiny Gunma Hall. Legion got the win by pinning poor Mark Griffin. Afterwards Joffy Laine was backstage and said that he's not interested in teaming with losers, he got his eyes on a singles competition.

- Tanyu Toshusai was victorious again by defeating GCG wrestler Lion Genji. Toshusai, a former GCG man, had to face a motivated Genji who was willing to hurt Tanyu badly for leaving GCG in such a dismissive fashion. Toshusai's Brainbuster was too much for the Lion.

And that's a wrap. The first two RISE shows are posted and i'm happy with the result. RISE.2 was the 150th show i posted in this thread, which is pretty insane to be honest. But i won't stop, it's so much fun to see the progress we're making in terms of stories, characters and elevating the brand. I have to say that some guys got raided by the bigger companies in Japan, so the roster got a bit of a shake-up. I'm not a fan of posting those leavings, but if you guys want to know it, i'll post it in an OOC post like this one here.

S-1 Festival is upon us and i'm pretty exciting for the whole tournament. I'm going to post two shows in one post, just doing the tournament matches until we're going into the block finals and the final day of course.

These puro diaries give a lot more freedom in running shows, which allows events like RISE to take place and serve a good purpose! That's probably the biggest reason I enjoy puroresu over Western wrestling: they aren't tied down by the TV-TV-TV-TV-PPV-TV-TV-TV-TV-PPV model.

With that being said, they were good little shows and easy to read and digest. I do like the little bits of OOC that you do, just to make the reader aware of any major happenings.

The wait is finally over, the Strong-One Festival is ahead of us. It's the third S-1 in a row, we're looking to find a new warrior who's capable of beating everyone who will step in the ring with him. The tournament continuously has grown. 2016 only ten men fought over the trophy, 2017 we upgraded to ten men in each blocks and held fourteen shows and this year we're going to held nineteen days of pure action.

For the first time in history the S-1 winner will face the WCG World Heavyweight champion at Pro Wrestling Love, which will be held on the 5th of March during the golden week at the Tochigi Sports Stadium. WCG president Junnosoku Fukazawa said: „It's another step in the right direction. One month of battling the very best WCG has to offer should culminate to a big show. We're happy to end the golden week with a banger. May 5th is Kodomo no Hi, children's day, so every children will have free entry to Pro Wrestling Love. Let's spread the love of pro wrestling!“

"I was so ready to break some arms!"

Sarumara & Yanagita Interview (1/2)

LY7FS34.pngsarumara.png

Kimitada Yanagita (48) and Sotatsu Sarumara (42) share the ring together for over fifteen years. The veterans are two of the most dangerous and fascinating competitors in the world of pro-wrestling, former INSPIRE fighters and two time WCG World Tag Team champions.

Q: You two didn't have an easy way into the pro-wrestling scene right?

KY: Not at all. Being from Hiroshima wasn't easy either. There wasn't a big scene there, but Eisuke Yoshinobu opened up a training school during his career. So he was technically my trainer.

SS: I'm from Kanto, so that wasn't the biggest problem. I was a huge fan of Hito Ichihara, you know. I loved his submission-striking style, his attitude and presence. He was so unique back then. I applied to be his student multiple times, but failed always, huh. But i made the cut then thank god.

Q: The first steps were made but it wasn't until the year of 2006 you guys had matches on a larger scale than being independent worker.

SS: And here i was lucky again. Ichihara-san called me and invited me to be a part of INSPIRE. I was hooked! I was sick and tired of having matches in front of 100 people, i called Yanagita-san.

KY: We met in 1999 at Gunma Hall for a tiny independent company called Diamond Pro Wrestling. They booked us against each other and i knocked Sotatsu two teeth out *laugh*

Q: Tell me about INSPIRE.

KY: INSPIRE was a crazy place. You got the stars like Kikkawa-san or Raul Hughes, guys like Saru and myself and young & hungry guys like Hito Suzuki and Morimasa Kato. We all wanted to have huge success, but it wasn't easy.

SS: I was so ready to break some arms. I cleary remember the first show when Mara Khoklov knocked out Kikkawa-san. 10,000 people were roaring in their seats in Tochigi, it was a blast. I don't really know what happened but when Kikkawa told us INSPIRE was done in 2009 was a disaster for me. The final show took place in Ibaraki in front of 1,000 fans, a sell out of course, i knocked out Yanagita-san *laugh*

KY: Lucky b*stard! He threw a punch right behind my ear and the next thing i remember was sitting on my bed with my wife. What a night! I miss INSPIRE. Sadly no one picked us up until Fukazawa-san came to us in 2016.

Q: Seven long years. Seven long years of being an indy-guy, right?

SS: You see we were on top of the mountain, INSPIRE was our home. Surely Kikkawa-san went straight back to BHOTWG with his buddies, but we were left alone. Yanagita, Suzuki, Kato, Oda Yakuta, Nagai and myself .. we were left alone.

KY: That's when i moved to Tokyo to be closer to Saru. We had this idea to be an INSPIRE team in the indies and knocked b*tches out there. Left and right, they dropped in front of our feet. I remember we won a tag tournament in Kagoshima while knocking out Hito Suzuki and Kazuchika Nagai [former WCG wrestler, now in WLW]. Speaking of them, 2016 Fukazawa called all four of us..

Q: .. And WCG was born...

more in interview part 2.

Sarumara & Yanagita Interview (2/2)

LY7FS34.pngsarumara.png

Kimitada Yanagita (48) and Sotatsu Sarumara (42) share the ring together for over fifteen years. The veterans are two of the most dangerous and fascinating competitors in the world of pro-wrestling, former INSPIRE fighters and two time WCG World Tag Team champions.

Q: .. And WCG was born...

KY: Yes! I had a brief run in Golden Canvas Grappling as a tag team champion with Junnosuke Fukazawa, which was a door opener to be honest. He called me and pitched his idea to create a new company similar to GCG and BCG, he worked for both companies. I liked the idea and we met with Saru, Nagai and Suzuki in Shinjuku.

SS: Man, do you remember Suzuki's Ramen? He had a huge bowl, good lord. Anyway we were all pumped for his idea and that he wanted to build around us and some young guys. I disliked the Rhino first, but it's Fukazawa-san's favourite animal *laugh*

Q: Really? That's interesting. The first shows featured some outsiders from Black Canvas Grappling.

SS: Man i hated them so much. Funakoshi was a tough b*stard and i liked to fight him. It's sad that we didn't have a third meeting to see who's better. After Razan [Okamoto] won, he dissapeared.

KY: It was a defining time for White Canvas Grappling. We officially named our team White Justice because of them, the WCG World Heavyweight title was created, the S-1 was born and guys like Razan Okamoto joined us when they heard Funakoshi was terrorizing us.

Q: You two won the inaugral match for the WCG Tag Team championship, won the first S-1 Tag League at the end of the year and captured the tag titles for the second time at the first Anniversary show.

SS: We had a good run, huh? I think we are a big part of WCG's history, alongside many other great athletes. I would love to be a WCG World champion , but i didn't make it yet. Maybe in the future, i don't know. Okamoto looks pretty sharp, huh.

Q: Speaking of Okamoto. 2017 wasn't your best year. You lost the tag titles immediatly to OWARI, Yanagita wasn't nominated for the S-1 and Sarumara lost a titlebout with Okamoto.

KY: Right. I was literally pissed. But i can see it now, i wasn't a threat in 2017. I lost many fights, wasn't „The Dog Of War“ i used to be. I think my biggest singles win was when i beat young Miyake.

SS: We're not the youngest anymore, right? Yanagita-san is even older. We'll fight forever, whatever it takes but a great fighter can't always win a fight.

Q: 2018 has started better for you then.

SS: Being a champion is always nice. I'm honored to represent the championship of our american friends. I'm going to defend the belt against anyone, you know?

KY: I'm glad i was picked to be in the S-1 this year. I'm 48 years old, i think my time decline is upon me. It could be my last singles tournament and i'm damn proud to work with such amazing fighters alongside. My goal is to beat every Shokka-gun as*hole!

Q: I have to ask about them, Sarumara-san.

SS: Tadakuni Toshusai is a fraud. I don't know why he hates me that much to be honest. He worked his entire career for the biggest company in the country, only because our fans cheered me more when we had our match at Anniversary? Let me get this very clear: We fought with BTU and send them back home, we will do the same with the Shokka-gun.

Q: Last question. Tell me about your chances in the upcoming S-1?

KY: Have fun. Break bones. Eat a lot of Chanko Nabe. Kill Shokka-gun guys. To be honest i don't think i can win this tournament with that amount of great talent, but i'll be remembered as a tough b*stard!

SS: I know i'm capable of winning the whole thing, but i have to be at 100%. It isn't easy but i can do it. If i can't make it to the finals on the last day, i have to stop Tadakuni Toshusai at least.

This was a really good way to add a connection between the readers and the characters. Both Sarumara and Kimitada get depth added to themselves as well as their friendship. Sarumara vs Toshuai is pushed forward and it’s curious if we’ll find out some other reason why Toshuai is so he’ll bend on going after Sarumara.

<div style="text-align:justify;"></span><span style="font-family:arial;"><span style="font-size:10px;">Champ vs. Champ at the first night of the S-1 Festival 2018! After a winless series against Torii, the WCG World champion managed to beat Torii for the second time in his career (second win in WCG vs. Torii) after a hard fought battle which nearly went to a time limit draw. The WCG Intercontinental champion looked to nail his Forearm Smash, failed like last year and got hit with a Knee Strike by Razan Okamoto who shooked Torii's world. Ray Snow picks up an early win, as I said in my predictions he is a dark horse in this. I think he could be at the top of Block A by the end, not winning but in the top 3 or 4. He's a strong style gaijin, which means he's a good talent to push for WCG.

Yanagita's interview I'm guessing got him this win. I was surprised Kato ate the loss here. But debuting a new move right out the gate in a tournament was probably not a good idea on his part. You to be at your best and doing moves you've never done before leave you open to errors which is what cost him. I am wondering what his new move may be though.

Champ vs. Champ surprisingly only got a [66] and almost went to a draw. Razan shows that he isn't gonna be taken lightly in this, but such a taxing match could cost him in his next contest against Yanagita, especially after his win over Kato. Plus Torri is going against Omezo next, so this big match early on could have a crippling effect on the rest of their tournament performance. I'm pegging Yanagita to get a win over Okamoto set up a final title match for him, but I'm really curious who else will pick up a win over the champ. It's really convenient you mapped out the entire tournament so we can see it in advance, makes it even more interesting.

The biggest shocker was Makioka vs. Kita getting the best rating, was not expecting that. Especially with only 10 minutes.

Gauge's arrogance and I'm assuming his previous loss against Torri led to another here. It's under estimated how important momentum actually is. If you suffer a big loss it can cripple your confidence. I think Greg is trying really hard to make up for his loss of confidence with extra arrogance that led to his loss here.

Tadakuni takes down one bastard.

Yoshinaka with a win over his S-1 partner sets himself up as a leader in the pack imo. He has Sotatsu the next night so we'll see if he can cement himself as a leader of Block B. I think he gets a win over Sotatsu and is one of the leaders of the S-1, but we'll see what happens.

<div style="text-align:justify;">It's been the third singles match meeting between WCG IC champ Bunrakuken Torii and Kenka's Omezo Shikitei. Last year Torii beat Shikitei at the S-1, but lost to Shikitei in the Semifinals of the White Canvas Trophy. Shikitei looked for Torii's bruised arm, which was damaged by Okamoto in Saitama. The Kenka soldier did a great job by preventing Torii's fierced attacks and even could submit him due to his STF. 2:1 for Shikitei now!

<div style="text-align:justify;">Yanagita was pumped up because of his surprising opening win against Morimasa Kato days ago. Unfortunately WCG World champion Razan Okamoto was a step above the old man, who fought like a wounded lion would do. After the match Okamoto shook hands with the legend from Hiroshima!

<div style="text-align:justify;">Last year Greg Gauge has beaten his deputy Pavel Vanzycha clean in the middle of the ring, just like today. Vanzycha cleary did a great effort against his stableboss but wasn't on his level today. Gauge stopped doing some arrogant antics and was concentrated on beating Vanzycha which resulted in a success.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Makioka's raw power was too much for Suzuki, who looked like a different man again. Suzuki needs to get his s*it together and improve his skills immediatly. Backstage the White Canvas Trophy winner of 2017 promised that he's going to be a threat over the next weeks. Makioka stayed undefeated with this win, his next opponent will be his boss Tadakuni Toshusai who's also still undefeated.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Is Sarumara going to be the one to win the block? The INSPIRE vet stopped young and upcoming Yoshinaka Taku with his Arm Lock and looked like a stud out there. The current NYCW Empire champion made sure that he won't fell victim to Taku's devastating Full Nelson Bomb, he had eyes on his back for sure.

<div style="text-align:justify;">The first ever Shokka-gun inner fight was a heavily brawl. It may be no surprise when two brawler like Tadakuni and Makioka are in the match, however it was fine action. Tadakuni Toshusai, as the boss, came out as the winner after the Shock Treatment and stays undefeated like his stablemate Taheiji Konoe in Block A.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Gauge and Taku had a great match in today's main event with a victory for the former IC-champion. The american kicked out of a Lariat which resulted in a close nearfall. Taku fought like a wounded lion, went for the kill with the Full Nelson Bomb but got caught with a flash pinfall attempt by Gauge. The blonde nearly broke Taku's neck with a brutal knee strike and tapped Taku with his Proton Lock to advance to four points.

Taheji dominating with the Savage DDT is a surprise but not more surprising then Kato only winning One match at all. A true fall from grace prior to his WORLD title match. But he finally hit his new move though that could be his wings to bring him back to the trail going upward.

Taku has really fell off the boat. He was seen as a top level contender going into the tournament but has failed to accumulate accumulate victories following his first. He does not have a slim chance of making to the top but with Tadakuni and Greg Gayge I don’t think he has a shot.

Especially after Greg Gaige basically ended Marioka by beating him. He’s bounced back from the loss to Torri but I’m not sure if he’ll win this block. He’s definitely in my top three of who I think will win. But number one is Toshuai.

<div style="text-align:justify;">The WCG Intercontinental champion is back on the track. "Machine Gun" smashed Konoe's face in with the forearm and has ended Konoe's unbeaten run in the perfect time. Torii had to make sure that Konoe was going down so he climed the turnbuckle and hits him with the Flying Forearm Smash to prepare his Spinning Forearm.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Ray Snow had a great start into the tournament but he found himself at the short side of the end multiple times. He fought with a big heart against the current World champion, again he came short. Okamoto took his head off with a Forearm and finished him up with the Brainbuster Suplex. Afterwards Snow got loud applause from the Yokohama crowd.

<div style="text-align:justify;">It was a war between Kato and Smith out there, they beat the living crap out of each other of course. Smith nearly managed to throw Kato over the top rope into the commentary tables, but was unsuccessful. Kato was attacking Smith's big neck to apply the Choke Sleeper, but he couldn't get his arms around Bulldozer's neck. However he managed to hit his new move the "Inundation" to erupt the whole canvas. Big win for the former champ.

<div style="text-align:justify;">Sarumara went absolutely nuts and a bit out of focus when Makioka came down to the ring. The Shokka-gun soldier was calm and determined to grind down Sarumara. At the end Makioka nailed his Belly To Belly Suplex to get his third win in the tournament. Sarumara knows what will come after the tournament..

<div style="text-align:justify;">This win was so important for Hitomaro Suzuki, you could see his relief when the referee called for the bell after Shmizu couldn't react to him. "Genius" is under pressure to win every match going forward to have a small chance of advancing to the finals.

<div style="text-align:justify;">The whole block had their finger's crossed for this match, all of them had to cheer for the unpopular Greg Gauge. However it wasn't to be. When Toshusai hits the first Shock Treatment, the Yokohama crowd erupted and startled at the same time. Surprisingly Gauge kicked out but was immediatly hit by a second Shock Treatment which was too much for the Rogue Squad leader. With now four points ahead it should be an easy job for Toshusai to win the block.

This is easiest 5 star rating I could give to a diary.

Both in terms of aesthetics, which I was going to praise for the original layout, but then I got to the 2nd Anniversary and was genuinely blown away and the story telling!

I'm actually going have to PM you to ask if you learn how to format from a website or just by trial and error.

I'm not just saying this because you praised my work, this is a top tier diary, an absolute gem mate!

Taheji has really been pushed as a major force in this torunament despite never winning singles gold in WCG before this could be a preview of his future fortune.
