The show starts with a promo from Champagne Lover, who hypes up his upcoming singles match with Sebastian Koller. Too long, he says, he has been out of the spotlight and without a championsihp; this changes at the end of this week, when he'll take the NGW Cruiserweight title from "The Rock and Roller"

The League of Heroes are shown at the gym training as Captain Hero II and Robert Howard prepare for their match against the Johanssons. Edward Cornell runs to the ring after the match with a chair in hand, looking to soften up Marat before their match later this week. Cornell takes the shot from behind and the chair whacks Marat's back, but the hit only seems to infuriate him further and the show goes off the air as Khoklov glares menacingly at Cornell, who retreats to the backstage area.

The Czars (Dovydas Vidmar & The Ivanoff Brothers) © vs The Outcasts (Badass Bantom, Landon Mallory & Wade Orson)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

The main show kicks off with a title match and a pretty intense fight as all six men in it bring a lot of physicality to it. Mallory starts the match against the quick tagging Ivanoff brothers and although they try to isolate him near their corner, Mallory is able to escape and tag in the powerhouse Bantom. The Czars respond by tagging in Vidmar and the two big men stare each other down in the middle of the ring for a moment before the punches start flying. Bantom eventually gets the upper hand and bullies Vidmar to his team's corner, where Orson gets the tag to become the legal man. Thanks to a series of rolling suplexes leading to a bridge and a two count, Vidmar is slammed across the ring and near the ropes, where Orson applies a crossface to soften up the big Russian's head for his Bounce Back finisher. Vidmar tries to crawl to the ropes as the Ivanoffs circle the ring to cause some tension with Bantom and Mallory. Things don't come to blows just yet, but the momentary distraction is enough for Vidmar to reach for his vodka bottle instead of the ropes, smashing it on top of Orson's head. Fortunately for the Outcasts, the blow sends Orson tumbling out of the ring so no pin is made, but the match essentially continues as a 3 on 2 bout. The remaining two members of the Outcasts team show plenty of fire but the numbers game eventually catches up to them once the Ivanoffs hit the Russian Roulette on Mallory on the apron. The champions converge on Bantom next and with some assistance to lift him up, Vidmar slams Bantom down with the Bratva Bomb, making the cover to keep the titles around the waists of the Czars.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winners: The Czars (Dovydas Vidmar & The Ivanoff Brothers)</strong></p><p><strong>

The Czars make defence number 2 of their NGW Open Collective titles</strong></p><p><strong>

Backstage, Vita is supposed to be interviewing the Army of Lovers but despite her best attempts, the trio of Bruno, Ricci and Gandalfini seem more interested in being flirtatious with her, at times a bit past the point of good taste.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="xubMr0F.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/xubMr0F.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Ryushi Ryusaki walks into the scene as the proverbial knight in shining armor to rescue Vita, telling the three Italians to leave her alone. Instead of firing back on the mic, the trio simply assaults Ryusaki, beating him down until two more figures enter the fray to pull them away and create some separation.</p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="ilYKixf.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/ilYKixf.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="L51OHAV.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/L51OHAV.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p>

It's Masaru Ugaki and Morimasa Kato! As the announcing team comments, the two men have spent time with Ryusaki in EWA, with Ugaki being the hand picked protege of the legendary Yoshimi Mushashibo while Kato is a legitimately dangerous shoot wrestler and mixed martial artist. The segment ends with Ugaki and Kato helping Ryusaki up, the three Japanese wrestlers now apparently having formed some sort of group against the Army of Lovers.</p><p>

Girl Power vs The Wrecking Krew</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

While there may be no title on the line for this match, it is heavy with story and drama, which is what the four competitors focus on. There's the past (Jacobs), present (Girl Power) and future (Edwards) of the NGW Women's division on display; there's the teaming experience of Girl Power up against the natural chemistry of the Wrecking Krew. There is Behr's recent successful teaming with Rodriguez and Nakajima's time in EWA that create questions about their ability to still function as a team. There's Edwards' recent injury that kept her off for a while. There's Jacobs' growth from a one-dimensional powerhouse bully to a well rounded athlete that moves and even flies with grace you wouldn't expect from a woman her size. All of that is up on display, the wrestlers telling their stories between the ropes while the announcers break it down and provide context for the ten or so minutes this match goes on before Behr hits a Standing Moonsault on Jacobs for the pin, a symbolic passing of the torch from the Hall of Famer to the one who's about to break into the top of the division as a legitimate future title contender.</p><p>

Silver explains how he expects this title to provide match-ups the weight classes wouldn't normally allow, but isn't shy about tooting his own horn too when it comes to the tournament he came up with to pick his brand's contender, who will be competing for the title next.</p><p>

Harrison and Krause speak up next for "Captain Hero" Stig Svensson's induction into the NGW Hall of Fame. A three time Heavyweight champion and winner of the Independent Wrestler of the Year award in 2009, Svensson is also hailed as the man who helped NGW make the jump from a localized promotion to Europe's top wrestling company as well as the one who popularized the mask of Captain Hero that Nelson Frye is now carrying as the second incarnation of the character.</p><p>

"Stone Cold Killer" Konrad Mäkinen vs Roy Edison</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A match made for the aficionados of classic technical wrestling, the contest to crown the first ever NGW Openweight champion was a potent mix of catch wrestling, technical prowess and more than a few deadly submission holds. Far from a slow and methodical technical masterclass though, Mäkinen and Edison fought this at a breakneck pace that felt like it belonged less in a wrestling ring and more inside an MMA cage. Mäkinen sought to take his opponent to the mat and work on his legs to lock up the Swedish Grapevine, while Edison shot for his opponent's upper body in search of the armbar. With plenty of counterholds and evasions, the match flowed back and forth until Mäkinen finally managed to slap on the Swedish Grapevine in the middle of the ring after a series of snap suplexes that had take the air out of Edison's sails to bring about the tap out.</p><p>

Double Dutch vs Team Fly vs The Foreign Legion</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Double Dutch and Team Fly are both well known, veteran teams who have held tag team gold, meaning that French technical wrestlers Jaqcues and Pierre DuPont enter this match as the underdogs. As such (and probably as a joke fitting their offensively stereotypical gimmicks) they shy away from any tags for most of the match, preferring to let their opponents wear each other out. Once Lister hits a Kanobi Kutter on Van Heer though, the DuPonts see their chance and quickly drag Lister away from the cover to forcibly tag themselves into the match and steal the pin. Van Heer kicks out though and that leads to Double Dutch versus the Foreign Legion for a bit, the Frenchmen doing their best to ground the plucky underdog high flyers but eventually falling to their Orange Wave double team maneuver. The match down to Double Dutch and Team Fly again, things pick up without the distraction of the DuPonts on the apron and after a spectacular crescendo, Van Bon is hit with a Mile High Moonsault. Van Heer tries to make the save but Lister cuts him off as Van Bon kicks out of Matravers' cover. A quick tag later, Lister is the legal man and picks up Van Bon to deliver a Kanobi Kutter, this time enough to keep him down for the count while Van Heer is reeling at ringside.</p><p>

The Gentleman and the Pitbull vs The Johanssons © (with Signe Lythjohan)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

To anyone quick to point out that veteran wrestlers and former tag team champions Captain Hero II and Robert Howard were the favourites in this match, the announcing team pointed out that the Johanssons were not just two big powerful men managed by a smart woman but they've also held those titles since May, meaning they've proved they'll take on all comers and prevail. Although this match featured very little mat grappling and submission holds, it was far from a wild brawl, instead the power and intensity of it was delivered with great finesse, making it a very precise and physical bout one would expect to see in a Japanese strong style promotion. Signe Lythjohan was a priceless bonus on the champions' corner, providing an extra set of eyes and a clear head to guide them in the heat of battle against two formidable opponents. Though pretty non intrusive, Lythjohan still provided a single distraction her men exploited to mess with Captain Hero's mask and rake Howard's eyes, the slight opening allowing them to pull off double Northern Lights Suplexes and throw their massive bodies on top for stereo covers to retain.</p><p>

Champagne Lover vs "The Rock and Roller" Sebastian Koller © (with Viper McKenna)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

First of the night's final three big matches, this one pitted the 26 year old German champion against the high flying and hard hitting Champagne Lover. If there's one thing this match was in no shortage of, it was egos and charisma. Apparent already from their respective entrances and how they worked the crowd before the match, their similarities weren't limited to cockiness and physical size; once they got to wrestling, it quickly became apparent they both had an amazing knack for chain wrestling. Whether it was countering each other's moves back and forth in elaborate sequences or chaining their own attacks into offensive combinations, the two men barely threw a single move on its own from bell to bell. Things got a bit out of hand when Koller reversed a high flying move from Lover to send him out of the ring, which led to a rough ringside brawl that Koller got the best of but only came away with a two count once he was back in the ring for the cover. Lover also had a big moment when he reversed a Hamburg Rock City attempt into a huracanrana that sent Koller face first into the corner, only for Lover to catch him as he rebounded with a Lover Stunner for another two count. The match escalated as both wrestlers took ever greater risks and pulled ever bigger moves, with Lover almost hitting another Lover Stunner before McKenna pulled him away and planted a kiss square in his mouth. Fans went wild, Lover lost his concentration for a split second and that was all Koller needed to pick him up for the Hamburg Rock City that gave him the pinfall.</p><p>

It's Hardcore Hernandez! Hardcore Hernandez is back after a run in EWA where he also held the Europa title and he cuts a scathing promo to call himself the true underutilized star in NGW. Koller and McKenna try to welcome him back into the fold but Hernandez cuts them off; he's done buying their story about the Outcasts banding together. From now on, he'll take care of himself, for himself, without relying on others or having to watch anyone else's back but his own!</p><p>

"The Alpha Male" Edward Cornell © vs "The Moscow Mauler" Marat Khoklov</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

A match half year in the making, this one began with Khoklov winning the King of the Ring Starmageddon match in June for the right to face the NGW Heavyweight champion at End of the World. Although the title was at the time held by Champagne Lover, the latter lost it to Edward Cornell the following month, leading to the night's matchup. Ever since, the two men had interesting trajectories: Cornell made some shady defenses while using his Real Deal group for his own ends, while Khoklov led the Czars from the background while scoring impressive victories over the likes of Champagne Lover and Captain Hero II. The interesting part in this match was how well studied Cornell came into it. Well aware that he couldn't hope to win a standing battle against the Russian giant, Cornell employed scything kicks to chop him down while smartly avoiding all of his moves, seemingly a step ahead of him. Khoklov was brought down to one knee, but once Cornell closed in, he grabbed him in his arms for a bear hug as he slowly regained his vertical base. Cornell did not submit, but the air had definately been squeezed out of his lungs, maybe some of his ribs were broken too, the important thing is Khoklov gained control of the match after that spot. Slowly dismantling Cornell with big slams and blugeoning blows, Marat beat the champion into a pulp as if he was enjoying the process and from the sound of it, the sold out crowd certainly was. Despite the beatdown, Cornell miraculously managed to kick out of a Moscow Lariat and while it kept him in the match, it only infuriated Khoklov further, leading to a Russian Legend Powerbomb that finally kept him down for the three count, with Khoklov winning the title to become the first ever four-time NGW Heavyweight champion in history.</p><p>

Cornell's troubles weren't over though, because Roy Edison, the Lawal twins, Wael Hossam and Aleksander Knyazev all showed up like vultures to surround the ring and block his escape. Knyazev, now seemingly aligned with the others, took the first shot and everyone piled on Cornell for a beatdown as the Real Deal finally imploded or at least kicked Cornell out of the helm. Sick of Cornell's antics, his cockiness and his treatment of the group for months, fans cheered on as each man hit his finishing move on Cornell, leaving him bloodied and beaten in the center of the ring as medical staff ran in to check on him.</p><p>

Joanne "J-Ro" Rodriguez © vs "The Gothic Grappler" Fusae Etsuko</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Rodriguez and Etsuko had no small task headlining the show, especially after everything that preceeded their match, but they delivered like they always do: a half hour epic contest that is sure to go down in the history books as one of the best matches NGW has ever had to date. The chemistry was there, as were the history and drama, yet the two women wrestled like proper athletes: no theatrics, no hatred on display, just two world class wrestlers out to prove who is the best of them. Rodriguez even pulled off an Amazon Plunge, a nod and a tribute to Etsuko's greatest opponent to date, Geena the Warrior Princess, getting a loud reaction and a near fall as a result. Etsuko showcased all the signature traits of her joshi training, from stiff strikes to slick technical wrestling, graceful high flying, athleticism and resilience as she chased the Lullaby. Rodriguez countered it once or twice, escaped it another time and almost tapped out to it before she mustered one final burst of courage to reach the ropes for a break. Likewise, Rodriguez made several attempts to pull off the J-Rocker, with Etsuko escaping the set-up front facelock before the move could be completed. She even hit Etsuko with her own Darkness Falls running knee, getting another near fall and just past the thirty minute mark, she finally managed to execute a J-Rocker for a pin.</p><p>

Thank you. I think this is a good time to, if not stop, at least put this diary on hiatus, since I doubt I'll have another year completed by the time TEW2020 rolls around. Gonna prioritize my other diaries for a while.

Thank you to all who have read, commented, predicted as well as nominated/voted for this diary in the monthly awards.
