Now hold on a minute, that's not exactly fair. You didn't read everything.

 

There are plenty looking for red scum this game. You can help if you want, it only helps your cause.

 

This is totally Out of Game talk here. If this is a game tactic you're doing, totally disregard this, but I believe you're actually frustrated and this is meant to help with that.

 

I'm going to be totally honest with you.. I did the same thing before Archer's lynch, as I thought I ruined the whole game for Archer, because I thought he was saying if he knew I was playing, he wouldn't have played. Now... I honestly believed that, and I did the same thing, but I'm sticking it through because replacements are hard to come by, and after all, I signed up (same as you). My lynch on myself was me trying to get out of the game, at the time I believed if I were lynched it would prove I was right.... but after Archer's lynch it proved I was wrong... so totally screwed me up. Fact is, I still didn't want to play because I felt even worse.

 

But... you know as well as I know how much time and effort it takes to put these games together for us to play. In respect to mods period, I'm playing to my full potential to truly try to win this game. IF that means I take you out, or lynch you, or anyone else, that's what I intend to do. You should do the same.

 

Please, don't ruin this game for the mods, your efforts, all of our efforts, were scaled/balanced, and without them, the whole game goes unbalanced. It's not truly fair.

 

Sorry the town figures you to be a "traditional type" cult. We seen that you couldn't recruit certain people, and I'm glad I now know I was indeed the calm man in N0 (I believe you just confirmed that for me). You're tunneling and trying to make things fit into a nice little package. I get it; done it myself in the past. Excited, think you may have caught something and figured out a major piece of the game, but I can assure you, you're wrong on that theory.

 

You're putting in work and thinking though so, keep it up.

 

I believe the woman slipping people things is crew aligned, so I'd leave well enough alone on that front.

Hey Bak.

 

A lot in this post so I want to break some of it down. I feel like sometimes when we're so excited about a particular vote/path we end up shunning/ignoring the person we're targeting. So I wanted to touch on this and give my perspective because it might help. I hope you do not take this as patronizing as it is more meant to be just my perspective on your game and mafia in general.

 

Mafia in General:

 

So first off, drawing cult is a really tough starting place. It's practically impossible, or at the very least very difficult, to win a game as cult. Just too much going on and too much luck needed. So you had a rough hand from the start.

 

In a vast majority of games, town is going to win just because they are allowed to make more mistakes. I mess up, say something scummy and get myself lynched, there's still an entire town worth of people and powers who can save the day and earn the win.

 

If you're mafia, there's a lot less room for error. If you're mafia and get yourself lynched, there's only a few people left for your team. And you may have screwed them over now that people know your alignment.

 

If you're cult, even more tougher. You started off with 2 people. And with the SK being gone night one (either the zombie or the marshall before they caught the criminal), there probably weren't even going to be enough kills fast enough for the cult to win. So from the start, cult was playing to create chaos (in my opinion). Same way I felt about Ray and I when we were SK together.

 

Your Game:

 

1. I don't like your recruit targets. I feel like you looked at people that don't try to fly under people's radars. Whether Rev, DJ, or me, we're all vocal players that try to draw attention to ourselves (and away from the people/powers that town need hidden).

 

With that, I feel like it makes all of us prime targets for being protected at night. Because, by being loud, we're attempting to make ourselves targets rather than other players.

 

At the very least, it means we might be watched/tracked because stealthier players can figure out who we're visiting or who is visiting us and make inferences off of that. I feel like as cult, stealth is vital to success. I didn't realize your team even existed until IER so you did well in that respect but I think the targets were risky.

 

2. I don't think your play style is scummy.

 

But here is my perspective:

 

When I look at the game, I look at who I feel is helping out town at day or at night. In my opinion: during the day, it'll typically be the 10+ post a day phase players that look like town to me because they're creating conversation. Could they be misleading and steering in the wrong direction? Of course. But they're not hiding. Which means if they are scum, there's a lot greater chance they mess something up, saying something that can be proven wrong, and we can catch them.

 

After that, I look at the <10 post players. Ones that have hinted at being beneficial to town and what role may be playing get the most leeway. Especially if they're seemingly pointing out a new direction than others, that makes me feel like their stealth work paid off. A good example of this was EP last game. I loved his low-key relentlessness about Jaded and once Jaded flipped, EP was town for life in my mind.

 

But if a player either:

A) has hinted they have no night powers (and aren't being seemingly helpful during the day)

B) has hinted they have night powers but aren't pushing in any direction for town to take.

C) hasn't hinted a role/power at all

 

they're going to look scummy to me. But scummy does not equal scum. It just means if we're at a loss for a direction to head in that is where my mind will turn. People can say low hanging fruit all they want, but I feel like it's usually town's safest bet.

 

3. I don't think you were a lynch threat until last night phase, targeting Mich.

 

People kept saying you were scummy but they said the same thing about Lukess and he is still here too. And people are willing to change their perspectives if people can prove they are town through words or actions. Good example is Leion, who I was suspicious of pretty much this whole game but now trust more than anyone else at this point.

 

I don't think we would've went in your direction. There wasn't really much reason or actual evidence to support that decision until last night phase.

 

When Mich came out as an investigator, he made himself upmost priority to pretty much every team. Town wants him safe. Mafia wants him dead. Cult wants him corrupted.

 

I think, with the mindset that cults benefit from stealth, it was a poor choice to look in his direction last night phase. I would've thought scum could kill him. But even if they didn't, it'd be because there was a protector there for town. Or again, at the very least, a watcher/tracker who would figure out who targeted the investigator.

 

The only reason you're in this situation right now is because you went after Mich and got caught by Leion. It wasn't a bad play on your end, just a risky one. And a risky one that didn't end up paying off.

 

What is happening today has nothing really to do with your playstyle. Whether it was you, Rev, DJ, Lukess, whoever, doesn't really matter. Once Leion came out and exposed he saw anyone talking to Mich and we see the writeup indicating a cult conversion, the writing was on the wall for that person and the cult team.

 

4. Misplayed day phase. I like the post I quoted here of yours much better than the earlier one. Trying to play off as town was a bad call. It was pretty clear that wasn't what took place. And you messed up the role claim. After that, it is hard to regain any credibility.

 

I think you should've came out like this from the start after Leion's accusation.

 

"Yeah, I'm cult and yeah, I stole him. But you all can't worry about me today, you need to worry about getting mafia." That's pretty much the attitude I've had this whole day phase (we need mafia, not cult) and I've seen it echo'ed by a few others. If you had started off that way, I think you could've had a better chance for success from the start and kept the attention off of you for the time being.

 

And who knows, maybe a roleblocker or watcher has to go in a different direction and you can sneak in another recruit who town wouldn't know about immediately.

 

 

 

I hope all of that didn't come of as patronizing, I thought it might be helpful for you and some others to read.

 

Out of Game note:

I think it'd be super interesting to try a style of game with a post MAXIMUM. Like 15 posts max per player per day phase.

 

For super active players (20+ posts a day phase), it'd be an effort in constrained writing and developing a "less is more" attitude with how to get your point across to town.

For active players (10-20 posts a day phase), they'd get to feel more on equal footing to the super active players and that they have an equal voice in the conversation and can't be drowned out.

For stealthier players (less than 10 posts a day phase), they'd have a game more to their style of play. If everyone is posting less, then no one gets called scummy for posting little. And it might be encouraging to share/talk more if they're not seeing much activity in the thread.

 

We'd all have to adjust our mindset on thread activity, healthy discussion, and "what a successful mafia game looks like" for it to work though. Still, just a random thought I had.

Now all of that being said... I'm still looking for red this day phase. Not Orange.

I messed this up, but hey, Give me some targets and I'll try to fix it. IF you want anyways... I'm not just talking to MLT right now. I guess I'm talking to everyone. IF Bak will come back, I say we leave him alone for the time period and concentrate on finding actual red scum. Leion seen more than just a thing or two, his character is all over the write-ups. Figure out who he observed doing what, and maybe I can rectify some of my mistakes.

But I feel like you've been too suspicious and I don't think I can trust you at this point of the game (while typically you're my go-to person).
