Commercials that you hate

What are some commercials you hate?

A few for me

The She Shed commercial from State Farm

The Snickers commercial with the dumb robber

The Sonic commercials with the two idiots

Progressive commercials in general

Limu Emu from Liberty Mutual

Force Factor ads

I like the Limu Emu & Doug ads.:D

At the end of the She Shed commercial she tells her husband that she will be able to rebuild her she shed. She then says something about a she sheer (I can never make out exactly what she is saying). My question is what the hell does she say at the end of that commercial and if what I heard is right, what is it that she's talking about (Wow that is an over usage of the word she for one paragraph.)?

As for commercials I hate...

Any that deal with the CBS show Love Island. I cannot stand the guy's voice who does the vo for those commercials.

Those stupid Charmin commercials where the young cartoon Bear sings about his butt being clean. Or the other one where the cartoon Bear family is rubbing toilet paper against them (Geez the people reading this in Europe are probably asking themselves what kind of weird commercials do we have over here.).

I also disliked the Gillette "toxic masculinity" ad from late last year/early this year (I really do not remember when it came out). I hated the message it was trying to promote but I also hated it from a sheer stupidity point of view. You are trying to sell men razors and you think attacking them is the best way to sell razors? What marketing wiz thought that was a good idea?

The vast majority of the commercials that I dislike are local commercials so there is no point bringing them.

In the commercial she's not saying she-sheer, she's saying chichier..meaning fancier. Kinda like when people saying chichi meaning fancy. Chichier meaning fancier. It's pronounced she-she-er

Ah that makes perfect sense now. I have heard of the word but it never dawned on me that was what she was saying.:o

I don't watch commercials but did catch this one because of the outrage. Truly cringy to watch. It was a hilarious thought how this could ever make it through board meetings. Investing money in something that will be almost guaranteed to lose you customers (from any perspective). The one is seems to follow is that "any publicity is good publicity", but whoever thought of that deserves to be spanked. "Hey, you're an idiot! Buy me!". "Look, a Gilette! I recognize that name from somewhere. Why not buy it?". That doesn't work. The only explanation I see is that they identified the "SJW" theme as something that sparks discussion, so if their intent is to just create a buzz... They've done just that.

But such is the reality of the whole SJW movement. Throwing rationality out of the window for a supposed "better" society. You can write a book about the stupidity of it all. People should know that - if you divide people in red and blue and cater to red, the blues aren't going to touch your product. The key is to support the SJW mindset and include minorities as well, but not in such a blatant fashion.

I also hate Matt The V.O. Guy from Love Island. Easily the worst part of the show for me. (Caro all the way, baby!)

And I also dislike those Charmin commercials. WHAT THE EFF DO BEARS HAVE TO DO WITH TOILET PAPER?? AND WHY WOULD THEY THINK WE WANTED TO SEE A BEAR KID DANCING AROUND SINGING ABOUT HIS UNDERWEAR AND BUTT BEING CLEAN?!?!

Well they did do that in a followup commercial where they had a young Trans Man learning to shave with his father. A lot of people said that, that commercial had an SJW agenda.

I mean I can see where people who are saying that are coming from. But for me it was just a nice commercial about a guy learning to shave with his dad. There was no reason to get outraged.

The first commercial just felt like it was an attack on their primary customers.

I didn't even know the V.O. Guy's name. I never watched the show, but I sadly do watch Big Brother (I say sadly because this season has just been awful. The cast is just filled with unlikable people.) and because there is probably a sizable crossover audience between the two shows, every commercial break I see a Love Island commercial with this guy talking about ab parties or some such nonsense.

I don't think I have gone to Sonic since they started airing the commercials with those two idiots.

Oh I know. Those guys are so offputting. Really makes you not want to go there. The offshoot ads with the two women are so much better. More appealing personalities and the writing's not nearly as dumb.

And I still don't understand why there are commercials for toilet paper. Who needs to be sold on why toilet paper is a good purchase?

It's not that they are trying to sell you on the notion that buying toilet paper is a good idea. The thought is to sell you on being loyal to their brand over others because you like their ads best.

<p>Two more commercials.</p><p> </p><p>

The Cricket Wireless commercials where they have those weird Sweetums lookalike creatures and they are saying...hiiiiiiiiiii and byyyyyyyyyyyye. That gets an automatic mute whenever it comes on. </p><p> </p><p>

The second is another automatic mute. It is the, State Farm Don't mess with my discount commercial. I am not sure why I hate that commercial so much but I just do. Maybe it is because that woman in the commercial gives me a, "Let me speak to your manager", vibe. She may not have the "Let me speak to your manager" haircut, but she does give off the vibe.</p>

<p>I've personally always hated the Everest college commercials. Years ago when I was maybe 17 or 18 I'd embarrassingly watch the Maury Show occasionally and the Everest college guy was out here judging me.</p><p> </p><p>

It was like I was personally being attacked, I thought we were going to square up and everything. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Now I haven't watched cable television in years. I heard about the Gillette commercial before this thread but now I am going to check it out.</p>

All the Sprint commercials with the "Can you hear me now?" guy. It was obnoxious enough when those Verizon commercials were on, but now having him on my TV and YouTube videos going "Hey, you remember those commercials you hated? Now I'm hear to be smug about their competition!". His face being incredibly punchable doesn't help.

Also the Geico commercials with camel. Mostly because my name is Mike and I spent two years hearing "Mike, Mike, Mike!" from my family every Wednesday.

I can certainly see how that would get grating. That said, I really like the most recent GEICO ad the camel appears in. That one with the lady who won the contest to be in the ad. I love her interaction with the other GEICO mascots and them grumbling about the camel getting a trailer to himself. When let's just be fair. How would there be room for anybody else in a trailer if they were sharing it with the camel? Great play with showbiz stereotypes there and far more character than you'd expect in a "Hi. I'm the random lady who won the contest" based commercial.

  • 3 weeks later...

<p>I present to you for your viewing pleasure</p><p> </p><p>

Mr Bucket</p><p> </p><p>

<a href="https://youtu.be/eqd41B-WAFo" rel="external nofollow">https://youtu.be/eqd41B-WAFo</a></p><p> </p><p>

I understand that the 90s were a while yet wholesome time, but at no point should a commerical aimed at children use the phrase "I'm Mr Bucket, out your balls in my mouth". </p><p> </p><p>

And while I should find this hilarious, this stupid song is gonna be stuck in my head all week now.</p><p> </p><p>

Apart from that over here in the UK it's got to be a tie between the GoCompare opera singer and the Compare the Market meercats for the worst commerical aimed at completely the wrong audience. Yes it works for children and is nice and cute, yes it makes you remember the brand, no it makes you hate the brand so much you'll spend more time looking for an alternative than it would have took using their service.</p>
