NYCW: The Ultimate Throwback

Recommended Posts

I totally get that, and it's a tough balance. I've just noticed that 4C tend to switch the belt the most often out of all of the COTT promotions, and tend to trash the belts prestige while their guys hold them - presumably due to their low pop in other regions. For example in this save the Empire Title is at 97 prestige and when Art Reed took the World Title it was at 71 prestige.

This is very true, and it's because, as a general rule the people who are top guys in 4C runs counter to the rest of the COTT, there a pop>performance company running in a different country than the rest of the rest of the companies in the alliance, (I think the only guy in their starting main event that wouldn't look like a disaster from the perspective of any of the U.S. companies is Sayeed) I've run into this as someone that likes to play 4C it really hurts to have the COTT champion go over in Canada most of the time, I imagine Troy and Too Hott screaming when they heard about the first two champs, admittedly, both Flash and Art are far better for 4C than Lopez or Starr.

Edit: just so were clear, I do think something should be changed in regards to how alliance titles work, It currently hurts both 4C and the U.S. companies, just for differnet reasons, not sure how to fix it though.

NYCW October Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

October proved to be a big month in US wrestling, as totalextremewrestling.com announced that USPW had reclaimed the no. 1 spot back from 21CW. On the back of the announcement, USPW announced two huge additions to their roster. First it was announced that Peter Michaels would be returning to our screens, two years to the day since Richard Eisen fired Michaels from the SWF. Given the very public falling out that followed, Michaels must be delighted to have signed for the company that has well and truly left the SWF behind. The companies second signing reflected their huge following up in Canada – it could be argued USPW is now more popular in Canada than they are in their home region! The signing of veteran Steve DeColt from NOTBPW was seen as something of a surprise by most observers, and it will be interesting to see where DeColt slots in to the USPW landscape.

Closer to home, October came with some good news for us. The latest PGHW tour had come to a close, meaning that both Empire Champion Bulldozer Brandon Smith and COTT World Heavyweight Champion Art Reed would get a month off from the touring schedule. One of the benefits of having both titles on our show was that I could give these guys a night off if the touring schedule is overwhelming them, and still put out a high quality Main Event.

We had also ended the year long Ring Generals Open Challenge segment. The segment had been an overriding success and Haley Buck in particular had done a great job with it. The Ring Generals had managed to remain my top team, while allowing The Boys From Yukon to establish themselves as a top team in our division. The decision to end the challenge was only made a week before 'Carnage in Queens', when we found out that Curtis Jenkins had managed to sort out his long running Visa issues and was able to work in the US again. I like weaving little details like this into my booking, and the introduction of The Atlantic Connection should breathe some much needed new life into our tag division.

I was relieved to see that we had managed to comfortably outperform PSW this month and win the Tri-State Regional Battle. Larry hadn't even grumbled too much about the $7,519 loss we had made on the month. The economy was in the pits at the moment, and our sponsorship money was half what it had been a year ago. But I knew that Larry had only one measure of success for me right now – winning the war. I wasn't going to be the one to bring 'dirty tricks' into this war, it didn't fit with our style. For now my only focus was making sure that we won every Regional Battle going forwards. Build it, and they will come...

NYCW Presents Kings Of New York

Live from Pennsylvania Park

Saturday W2 October 2017

The COTT World Heavyweight Championship returns to New York for a blockbuster Main Event, as “The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade aims to win his first World Heavyweight Title in his first appearance since leaving New England six weeks ago. One of the hottest acts in all of wrestling, can Spencer Spade become World Champion in his NYCW debut and be crowned 'King Of New York'?

Last month at 'Carnage In Queens' Steve Flash warned Doctor O'Haire that things were going to change for him sooner than he thought, and the veteran was proved correct as Steve Flash and Prisoner No. 6 face off in the nights co-Main Event. Prisoner No. 6 has been on a tear since losing his NYCW Tri-State Regional Title, but he has yet to step into the ring one-on-one with Steve Flash. Can the veteran overcome Doctor O'Haire's vicious inmate, or will Prisoner No. 6 continue his march through the NYCW roster?

'Carnage In Queens' also saw the end of The Ring Generals Open Challenge, as The Atlantic Connection were able to defeat Waldorf & Statler to earn Curtis “CJ” Jenkins a guaranteed contract. Haley Buck and her clients look to bounce back from the disappointment of that loss as they face off against the exciting new duo of @miller_fforde and Sonny Wildside – who picked up an impressive debut win against Old School Principals last month. The Atlantic Connection will also be in action for the first time as official NYCW employees.

Elsewhere on the show, Honest Frank and his “Dark Reaper” Scythe will address the ending of demons title match with Bulldozer Brandon Smith at 'Carnage In Queens' and Man Mountain Cahill is also scheduled to make an appearance. Be sure not to miss it!

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to 'Kings Of New York'. Rock Downpour hypes the debut of “The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade, who will be competing in his first match outside of the SWF juggernaut tonight when he faces “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship in tonights blockbuster Main Event!

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Arriving with a silver spoon!

Involved: Art Reed & Spencer Spade

The show kicks off with COTT World Heavyweight Champion Art Reed heading down to the ring, and he doesn't look happy. “The Pure Athlete's” anger seems to be directed towards his opponent in tonights Main Event “The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade. Art Reed calls Spencer Spade a spoiled, entitled brat. A kid who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. And yet despite being given every advantage, Spade had still managed to blow his opportunity – barely last six months in New England. And yet despite missing an open net, Spade was still able to come straight to New York into a Main Event match for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship. It made Art Reed sick.

This drew out his challenger. “The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade told “The Pure Athlete” that leaving New England had been his decision. Spade hadn't been happy with the spot he was in, and had seen an opportunity to build his legacy away from the bright lights of New England. A legacy that began with the title belt around Art Reed's waist!

Art Reed didn't look impressed, telling Spade that he epitomised everything that was wrong with “Generation Me”. Reed accused Spade of being scared of hard work, and demanded instant gratification. That's why he had gave up on his dreams in New England so quickly, and that was why Art Reed would beat him tonight. Unlike Spade, Reed wasn't afraid of getting his hands dirty. Reed had cut his teeth in hardcore deathmatches and brutal tours of Japan, and “The Pure Athlete” promised that hard work would be the difference between the two men tonight.

Segment Rating: C+

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Harsh words from the COTT World Heavyweight Champion for “The Supreme Star”.”

Ernie Turner: “I don't know who Art Reed thinks he's facing, but Spencer Spade is a man who paid his dues. Seven years in developmental, two of them as champion. Spade is a man who earned his shot, and it ahs to be said deserved better.”

Rock Downpour: “They're loss is the COTT's gain. Spencer Spade has all the tools needed to become World Heavyweight Champion tonight!”

@miller_fforde & Sonny Wildside [vs] The Ring Generals (Dean Waldorf & Marv Statler) w/ Haley Buck

@miller_fforde is once again joined for this tag team contest by Sonny Wildside. A huge fan of @miller_fforde's instagram story, Wildside excited talks at the go-pro strapped to his partners head as they head to the ring for this one. The Ring Generals and their manager Haley Buck are not in the best of moods after losing their Open Challenge to The Atlantic Connection last month, and don't seem entertained by their opponents antics.

@miller_fforde opens this one up with Dean Waldorf, and the Insta star looks to go hold for hold with “Deadly” Dean. This goes about as well as can be expected, and Fforde soon finds himself trapped in The Ring Generals corner. After a few minutes of being worn down, @miller_fforde is finally able to get the tag to Sonny Wildside and the pace of the match immediately picks up! Wildside was an uncontrollable ball of energy as he delivered Dropkicks, Flying Cross Body's and Hurricarana's to both of The Ring Generals. However Wildside would take one risk too many, as he headed up to the top rope and looked for his incredible 'Fear Factor' (Moonsault Stomp). However, Haley Buck was able to pull Marv Statler out of the way in time, leaving Wildside easy pickings for Dean Waldorf to deliver his Waldorf Salad Toss (Pop-Up Powerbomb) for the win.

Rating: C

Winners:
The Ring Generals

Finish:
Pinfall (Waldorf Salad Toss)

Notes: In terms of in-ring work, Dean Waldorf was head and shoulders above everyone else.

</div>

Ernie Turner: “We've just seen the downside of Sonny Wildside's suicidal style. When it comes off he looks a million dollars, but get it slightly wrong and you crash and burn!”

Rock Downpour: “The Ring Generals bounce back from the disappointment of their loss last month with an important win. You have to wonder what's next for Haley Buck and her clients...”

Ernie Turner: “It looks like Haley Buck might be about to let us know Rocky!”

“The Man Without Fear”

Involved: Man Mountain Cahill, The Ring Generals, @miller_fforde & Sonny Wildside

Haley Buck did indeed have a microphone in hand, as she set her clients loose on Fforde & Wildside. The Ring Generals stomped away on the youngsters as Haley Buck delivered a message to Riley McManus & Curtis “CJ” Jenkins. She told The Atlantic Connection that they're win last month had been a fluke roll up, and that had the referee not blown the call in the first place her clients wouldn't have been distracted and Riley McManus wouldn't have scored his opportunistic win. Buck told Riley not to celebrate too much. He may have won his little friend a contract, but this wasn't over and Haley demanded that they give her clients a rematch next month at 'Throwback Thursday' to prove that The Atlantic Connection were good enough to hand with The Ring Generals...

Haley looked like she had a lot more to say, but her trail of thought was interrupted as Man Mountain Cahill appeared from behind the curtain and stomped down to the ring. The Man Mountain didn't look in a good mood, so Haley wisely waved her clients out of the ring and quickly made their way to the back. Cahill stepped into the ring, and towered over the two youngsters as they struggled back to their feet following the beating they had taken from The Ring Generals. The Man Mountain immediately grabbed @miller_fforde by the throat and pulled his Go-Pro camera from his head. Fforde tried to grab the camera back, but Cahill threw it down to ringside. The Man Mountain lifted Fforde up into the air to delvier a Mountain Topper, but he hadn't been paying attention to Sonny Wildside! Wildside came flying off the top rope to delvier a Flying Dropkick to the head of the Man Mountain, causing him to drop @miller_fforde and fall to one knee. Wildside quickly dragged Fforde from the ring, and sprinted backstage (but not before scrabbling back to grab the go-pro camera from ringside) – leaving a very angry Man Mountain Cahill seething in the ring.

Segment Rating: B-

Rock Downpour: “Did you see the hang time Sonny Wildside got on that Dropkick?”

Ernie Turner: “Sonny Wildside really is a Man Without Fear! If Man Mountain Cahill didn't want to hurt him for that selfie incident last week, he'll definitely want to hurt him now!”

Conner Threepwood [vs] Philippe LaGrenier

LaGrenier came into this match on the high of his recent COTT World Heavyweight Championship win (even if his reign was brief) and a big tag team win last month at 'Carnage in Queens', whereas Conner Threepwood came into the match in desperate need of a win to build some momentum. Despite this it was Threepwood who started this match stronger, using a series of submission holds and transitions to keep his opponent pinned to the mat. LaGrenier had a couple of brief flurries where he broke free of Threepwood's clutches, but the former Fighting Irishman was always able to get his opponent back under control. As the match developed, Threepwood gained in confidence and lifted LaGrenier for a Suplex attempt. Unfortunately for Threepwood, LaGrenier was able to flip over and land on his feet and roll an unsuspecting Threepwood up into a quick cradle. Caught off guard, Threepwood wasn't able to kick out until just after the three count and Philippe LaGrenier was able to walk away with a big win.

Rating: D

Winner:
Philippe LaGrenier

Finish:
Pinfall (Quick Cradle)

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Philippe LaGrenier with a huge victory there! LaGrenier has had an impressive few months Ernie!”

Ernie Turner: “A wins a win Rocky, but Conner Threepwood can feel hard done by tonight! He controlled that match almost from bell to bell, but walks away with another loss.”

Rock Downpour: “LaGrenier did something very similar when he beat Donnie J for the COTT World Heavyweight Championship. The man is an opportunist, but he seems to get the results!”

The Atlantic Connection (Riley McManus & Curtis “CJ” Jenkins) [vs] Old School Principals (Rick Sanders & The Masked Mauler)

The Atlantic Connection make their way to the ring to a good ovation following their victory over The Ring Generals in last months Open Challenge, and this month are joined at ringside by a mystery new women on Riley McManus' arm. The woman looks incredibly shy as she is led down to ringside, and gives Riley a peck on the cheek before he steps into the ring.

The Atlantic Connection give another impressive performance here, as they control this match from bell to bell. Riley McManus does most of the heavy lifting, and even has time to blow a kiss towards his mystery new woman at ringside before delivering his Slingshot Suplex on Rick Sanders to pick up the win.

Rating: D

Winners:
The Atlantic Connection

Finish:
Pinfall (Slingshot Suplex)

Notes: Riley McManus carried the match in terms of in-ring performance.

</div>

Ernie Turner: “Another impressive victory for The Atlantic Connection.”

Rock Downpour: “Indeed. And it was officially confirmed this month that Curtis “CJ” Jenkins' Visa application has been approved, meaning that he can accept his guaranteed contract with NYCW.”

Ernie Turner: “Just one question Rocky... who's the girl?”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Challenging For The Gold

Involved: The Atlantic Connection & Sweet Tabitha

After his hand has been raised by the referee, a very chivalrous Riley McManus rushes to sit on the bottom rope to help his mystery new woman into the ring. The woman kisses Riley on the cheek to congraulate him on the win, before handing him a microphone. Riley starts by thanking the crowd for their support and confirming that Curtis “CJ” Jenkins' Visa application has now officially been approved, meaning that The Atlantic Connection were officially permanent members of the NYCW roster! Riley then continued by reminding the crowd that when The Atlantic Connection had won the Open Challenge last month, they had in fact won TWO guaranteed contracts. Now Riley obviously already had a contract with NYCW, but Riley had had an idea. He then introduced the crowd to Sweet Tabitha, who he introduced as his girlfriend. Riley explained that while he had been away injured after Prisoner No. 6 and Doctor O'Haire's attack, he had gone home to Georgia... and the good ol' Georgia boy had met Tabitha. Unfortunately when Riley had returned to New York, Tabitha hadn't been able to come with him because she had no work... but with the second guaranteed contract, she now had a guaranteed job for a year as their manager and could move up to New York permanently!

Riley & Tabitha couldn't look happier at the announcement, and then Riley moved on to address Haley Buck's challenge from earlier in the night. Riley said that he hated to disappoint Haley Buck and her clients, but he and “CJ” actually had their eye on another team. Riley said that as the team who finally defeated The Ring Generals in their Open Challenge, they had proven themselves to be able to live with the best NYCW had to offer. Therefore, Riley McManus was extending a challenge to The Boys From Yukon. If Doctor O'Haire really wanted his team to get the respect he thought they deserved, it was time for them to put their money where their mouth was. Next month at 'Throwback Thursday' – The Atlantic Connection vs The Boys From Yukon for the NYCW Tag Team Titles... what did they say?

Segment Rating: C+

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Riley McManus challenging The Boys From Yukon for the tag team titles at 'Throwback Thursday'!”

Ernie Turner: “Riley's been wanting to get his revenge on Doctor O'Haire for months now... he couldn't beat Prisoner No. 6, but now that he has Curtis Jenkins by his side can they go through O'Haire's other patients?”

Rock Downpour: “You can't say The Atlantic Connection haven't earned their shot, and Doctor O'Haire did say he wanted more recognition for his clients!”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:black;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #33C4FF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Jebediah © [vs] Hugh Ancrie

NYCW Tri-State Regional Title

Hugh Ancrie could take some confidence coming into this match from his tag team victory last month at 'Carnage In Queens' and also from his tag team partners victory earlier in the night, but the young Canadian found himself up against 6'11 300lb+ of Amish brawler in the NYCW Tri-State Regional Champion, Jebediah. The young Canadian did give Jebediah some trouble in the early exchanges of this contest, with a stick and move approach, but as soon as Jebediah was able to get his hands on his opponent all of the momentum was with the champion. Simply too powerful for Ancrie, Jebediah was able to use his power moves to wear down the young Canadian before delivering his Sundown Splash to retain his title.

Rating: C-

Winner:
Jebediah

Finish:
Pinfall (Sundown Splash)

Notes: Jebediah makes defence number 3 of his NYCW Tri-State Regional title.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “The big, Amish bruiser's title reign rolls on!”

Ernie Turner: “The big man has been on a roll since arriving in New York. There's some big guys on the roster, but Jebediah is among the bes t of 'em!”

Freedom Eagle [vs] “The Dark Reaper” Scythe w/ Honest Frank

The ultra patriotic Freedom Eagle looks to draw on support from a partisan crowd in this one, but his patriotism is no match for the power of “the demon. Honest Frank barks orders to his “Dark Reaper”, who threw the unfortunate Freedom Eagle around the ring. Scythe dominated his opponent for a few minutes, before delivering an emphatic Chokeslam as the explanation point for the win.

Rating: D-

From One Patriot To Another

Involved: Honest Frank, Scythe & Bulldozer Brandon Smith

Post-match, Honest Frank joins his demon in the ring and hands him his scythe. As we saw at the end of 'Carnage In Queens' “The Dark Reaper” uses the tool of destruction to choke out his patriotic opponent. Freedom Eagle looks on the verge of passing out when the crowd erupted as Bulldozer Brandon Smith came sprinting down to the ring. Scythe immediately released Freedom Eagle from the chokehold, but couldn't react quick enough to stop the onrushing Empire Champion from delivering a stiff Lariat. A pumped up Smith dumped the demon over the top rope, before turning to strare down Honest Frank. The demon's manager quickly exited the ring to join his “Dark Reaper” at ringside as Bulldozer Brandon Smith grabbed a microphone to address the pair.

The Bulldozer told Honest Frank that he had been absolutely right at 'Carnage In Queens' – this wasn't over between them, and challenged “The Dark Reaper” Scythe to a rematch next month at 'Throwback Thursday'! Honest Frank grins as he accepts the Bulldozers challenge, and we have a title match!

Bulldozer Brandon Smith then helped Freedom Eagle to his feet, perhaps feeling connected the patriotic youngster from his own time under a patriotic mask and the two babyfaces celebrated with the crowd as Frank and his demon retreated to the back.

Segment Rating: B

</div>

Ernie Turner: “What a blockbuster announcement! Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Scythe for the Empire Title next month at 'Throwback Thursday'!”

Rock Downpour: “I just hope the demon's dark implement isn't a factor in the result again. The Bulldozer will have to be careful!”

Steve Flash [vs] Prisoner No. 6 w/ Doctor O'Haire

Prisoner No. 6 has been on destructive war path ever since losing his Tri-State Regional Title back in May, but Steve Flash was a man who had built a long and successful career on beating big men and he came into this match with a game plan. Flash began to work on the legs of Prisoner No. 6 from the opening bell with Chop Blocks, submission holds and stomps all targeting the lower extremities of the inmate. Flash didn't have things all his own way by any stretch, with Prisoner No. 6 showcasing his impressive power in a series of throws and slams.

The match went back and forth between the two men, with neither man able to claim complete control of the match up. Doctor O'Haire barked instructions from ringside and even got involved at one point to distract the referee while his patient applied a blatant choke, which earned him big heat from the crowd. Deep into the match Flash looked in real trouble as Prisoner No. 6 powered the 51-year-old up for his Jail Break finisher, however before the prisoner could deliver the move his knee looked to give way! The work Flash had done during the match was clearly affecting Prisoner No. 6, and as the referee went to check if the inmate was okay to continue Prisoner No. 6 roughly pushed him away. Referee Matthew White, either bravely or stupidly, remonstrated with the inmate - reminding him that he was the referee in this match. Prisoner No. 6 did not take this well, as he cracked his knuckles and towered menacingly over the referee. The referee cowered away from the imposing prisoner, until Steve Flash took advantage of the situation and rolled the inmate up from behind. Referee Matthew White was quickly down to the mat and Steve Flash was able to hold the inmate down for just long enough to earn himself a three count.

Rating: C+

Winner:
Steve Flash

Finish:
Pinfall (Flash Roll Up)

Ernie Turner: “Steve Flash has done it! Steve Flash has defeated Prisoner No. 6!”

Rock Downpour: “And look at Doctor O'Haire, he is furious!”

The Wrong Diagnosis!

Involved: Prisoner No. 6, Doctor O'Haire & Steve Flash

Referee Matthew White and Steve Flash are quick to evacuate the ring as a furious Prisoner No. 6 is back to his feet, and joined in the ring by an equally furious Doctor O'Haire. Doctor O'Haire begins screaming at his patient, and for the first time since he has arrived in New York Prisoner No. 6 actually looked worried. The Doctor told his patient that he would be “increasing the intensity of his treatment plan”, and that if that didn't work he would be forced to review whether the plan was for Prisoner No. 6 at all...

With that O'Haire angrily led his patient to the back, with the doctor snapping at every fan within earshot.

Segment Rating: C+

Ernie Turner: “Doctor O'Haire not taking that loss well Rocky. And what did he mean by increasing the intensity of his treatment?”

Rock Downpour: “I shudder to think Ernie. We can only hope that Doctor O'Haire decides to take him off of his treatment plan all together and sends him back to the New York Penitentiary!”

Ernie Turner: “Or at least somewhere away from us!”

“The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade [vs] “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed ©

COTT World Heavyweight Championship

I had been shocked when I had heard that the SWF had decided not to renew Spencer Spade's contract, and had been desperate to get him involved in NYCW somehow – and Spade showed just how good he was in this fantastic Main Event! He went back and forth with Art Reed in a contest that showed just how good both men really were. The two were able to showcase their technical skills in a technical back and forth opening, their brawling skills in a hard hitting middle period, before both men showed they could even take to the air as they got desperate searching for victory towards the end of the contest. This was a match that wouldn't have looked out of place on the biggest cards in wrestling, such was the ability and star quality of the two men involved.

These men engrossed the crowd in over twenty minutes of back and forth action, before Art Reed regained his heel heat by taking a short cut and gouging the eyes of “The Supreme Star”. The action earned “The Pure Athlete” a warning from referee Matthew White, but was enough to provide the opening Art Reed needed. The COTT World Heavyweight Champion was relentless and never let Spade recover. Reed was finally able to lock in his feared Dread Lock, and while Spencer Spade held out for a good thirty seconds he eventually had to succumb just like everyone before him and tap out.

Rating: B

Winner:
Art Reed

Finish:
Submission (Dread Lock)

Notes: Art Reed makes defence number 2 of his COTT World Heavyweight title.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “What a contest! Two of the very best the independent scene have to offer, and they have left everything in that ring tonight! Spencer Spade may have come up agonisingly short tonight, but mark my words: that boy is the future of this industry!”

Ernie Turner: “He had to dig deep, and bend a few rules, but Art Reed held on tonight and is still the COTT World Heavyweight Champion. Which begs the question, who's next for “The Pure Athlete?”

Rock Downpour: “If they put on half as good a match as Art Reed and Spencer Spade did tonight, then we're in for a treat! Be sure to join us next month, where we will see Bulldozer Brandon Smith face “The Dark Reaper” Scythe for the Empire Title in what promises to be another barnstormer of a Main Event!”

The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade [vs] “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed ©

[COTT World Heavyweight Championship Match]

While I have loved Art’s character in this dynasty, the Supreme Star is in a class by himself

This match would be sold out in the monitor. This could be a special wrestling match.

I had to jump on the possibility of getting Spade in, even if it's just for one match (for now). I can't imagine Spade being available for too long and I don't want to start anything for him, then have to cut it short half way through. I may change my mind on this and bring him in, but for now that's where my heads at. If you guys are super keen to see "The Supreme Star" come in one a more permanent basis (until he's inevitably snapped up by one of the big boys) let me know!

@miller_fforde & Sonny Wildside [vs] The Ring Generals w/ Haley Buck

We need a truly angry Haley Buck promo! She's money!

I'm sure Haley Buck will have a lot more to say on behalf of her clients! The Ring Generals aren't going anywhere, so expect to hear a lot more from Haley over the next few shows!

NYCW November Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

November had proved to be a hugely exciting month for the COTT. Larry Wood had opened the doors of a new womens promotion in Canada – the CWWF. The exciting part was that Larry had immediately brokered a deal with Sam Keith for the new promotion to join the COTT alliance, the first promotion to do so since 2012.

In other COTT related news, Art Reed and Own Love tore the house down at 4C's 'Blood Brothers' show. Art Reed was absolutely killing it as champion, as the two lifelong friends topped even Reed's match with Spade at 'Kings Of New York'. I've been critical of 4C's handling of the title in the past, but that is exactly the kind of contest the COTT World Heavyweight Championship deserves. I had fought hard to put the title on Reed, and I was delighted he was repaying my faith.

In the wider wrestling world, the big news of the month was Angry Gilmore jumping ship to SOTBPW. It was hard to blame Gilmore for the decision – he'd never really been given a fair crack of the whip in his time in New England. While Gilmore had continued putting on fantastic matches and being one of the best performers in the company, it was hard to deny that he had fallen back into the pack somewhat after his lone title run in 2015. It was still a huge blow to the SWF, which was compounded a few days later when it was announced that fellow top star Brandon James would be following Gilmore South of the Border. This left the SWF with two big holes at the top of their card that they would be desperate to fill as soon as possible.

Back in New York, I had the difficult job of letting two guys go from our bloated roster. I'd managed to keep a fairly stable roster over the past year, but we had reached a point where I felt we needed a shake up. It's never easy releasing guys, particularly when they've done a good job for you. Conner Threepwood was an easier conversation for me to have, as he had picked up another gig down in Puerto Rico with FCW. I had high hopes for Conner when I brought him in to rekindle his Fighting Irish tag team with Crockett Tubbs. Conner had been a victim of bad timing, as Crockett Tubbs signed with NOTBPW just as The Fighting Irish had risen to become my top face team. One could argue that Tubbs' departure was also partly to blame for Max Mayhem being let go. It was losing The Fighting Irish that had pushed The Aces Of Mayhem back into the title picture too early and prevented me from building them back up as planned. Overall The Aces of Mayhem had done the job I had brought them in to do, but had now run their course. I would be holding on to Ace Youngblood for now and give him a run as a singles competitor in my midcard. I thanked Conner and Max for all their hard work, and genuinely wished them well for the future.

Larry Vessey had been on at me for months to trim the roster, so the news that Max and Conner had been let go cheered the grumpy git up a little. As did the news that we had beaten PSW in the Regional Battle once again, and this month only losing $795. 'Kings Of New York' had been a huge success for us, our second best show since I had taken over as booker. Spencer Spade had done a fantastic job in the Main Event. I would love to bring him in permanently, but I just couldn't imagine it would be long before one of the big four came in and snapped him up. I'd certainly be keeping an eye on him though...

The word is given......sign him

On another note.....Wow my predictions have sure sucked of late in this last contest. Too much thinking of the big explosion instead of solid story building. I’m still pushing for Reed to give Donnie J a 1 on 1 return match, but I just he just isn’t man enough to do it.

How are the other a COTT performing? Any near losing and going out?

Haha. I'll have a think where Spade could slot in near the top of the card. I'm sure I can find a slot for him somewhere...

I think Art Reed has different targets right now. Who knows though, maybe one day down the line he'll give Donnie his chance to win the title back?

In terms of the rest of the COTT, everyone seems to be doing okay. In the entire game world, ACPW are the only promotion to close their doors so far. The economy is currently in the toilet though (7 and falling), so we may see a few more falling over the next few months. Out of the COTT guys, MAW are probably in the most trouble, they are still Small and have limited finances. I'll include a brief overview below:

4C - Regional (#20) - Top Guys : Owen Love, Rajah ©, Frankie Dee, Philippe LaGrenier & Mimic

CZCW - Regional (#18) - Top Guys: Flying Jimmy Foxx, Donnie J, Super Ninja ©, Marvel Malloy & Matt Sparrow

CWWF - Small (#31) - Top Girls: Brooke Tyler, Cherry Bomb, Sally Anne Christianson, Eve Grunge & Emma Bitch

MAW - Small (#28) - Top Guys: Roderick Remus ©, Cheetah Boy, Syd Collier, George Wolfe & Cameron Jones

OLLIE - Regional (#14) - Top Guys: Nicolas Lopez, El Critico ©, Capitao Brail Jr., Labbu & Yellow Flash

NYCW Presents Throwback Thursday

Live from A New York Arena

Thursday W2 November 2017

NYCW welcomes you to indulge in your nostalgia at 'Throwback Thursday', a night filled with the very best of Old School wrestling.

The Main Event of the evening sees Bulldozer Brandon Smith looking for revenge after “The Dark Reaper” Scythe choked out the NYCW Empire Champion in the aftermath of their match at 'Carnage In Queens'. Scythe has been a constant menace for Brandon Smith, costing him the NYCW Empire Championship in a match against the demon's now manager Honest Frank as far back as March 2016. Their only match since saw Scythe disqualified at 'Carnage In Queens', so Smith will be looking to finally defeat “The Dark Reaper” and put the demon in his past.

Elsewhere on the card, it has been annoucned that The Atlantic Connection have been granted their request to challenge The Boys From Yukon for the NYCW Tag Team Titles. The NYCW booking committee agreed that by ending The Ring Generals Open Challenge, The Atlantic Connection had put themselves in a position to earn this shot. This will reignite the feud between Riley McManus and Doctor O'Haire, therapist for The Boys From Yukon. Back in January, O'Haire had two of his patients assault Riley – putting him out of action for nearly six months. Riley tried to get revenge in a match against O'Haire's patient Prisoner No. 6, but came up short. Can he take some revenge at 'Throwback Thursday' by taking O'Haire's last remaining title from his clients The Boys From Yukon?

It will be interesting to see how Haley Buck and The Ring Generals react to the news. At 'Kings Of New York' Haley Buck layed down a challenge to The Atlantic Connection for a rematch, which looks to have been rejected by The Atlantic Connection. The Ring Generals find themselves in a match with Brooklyn's Finest at Throwback Thursday, but you can be sure Haley Buck and her clients will address the situation with The Atlantic Connection!

Elsewhere on the card, we have a real throwback to NYCW days of old as Steve Flash takes on The Masked Mauler in a classic NYCW matchup. Sonny Wildside faces Man Mountain Cahill in his first singles match in New York, after saving his partner from Cahill @miller_fforde last month. COTT World Heavyweight Champion Art Reed is also in action. Be sure not to miss out on what promises to be a fantastic night of wrestling!

My guess is we get the switch before Scythe gets signed by one of the big boys. Then it will get switched back.</p><p> </p><p>

While the Boys have held it for a long time I’m not sure this is the end. One could argue it is well overdue but I have a sneaking suspicion the Ring Generals get involved and cause a DQ and at the year end show it will be a triple threat</p><p> </p><p>

Reed told us that last month he showed us the difference between his generation, one of discipline and hard work, and Spade's Generation – the ME Generation. Reed accused Spade's generation of being the most narcissistic generation to have ever lived – they expected success, but didn't want to do the work to get there.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

When these 'celebrities' are who this generation aspire to be, it's no surprise that they end up lazy, self-entitled and fame obsessed. Reed said he taught Spade the meaning of hard work last month, but don't think that the problem is confined to those coming out of the 'fame factory' in New England. The problem has set in here in New York too. So Art Reed calls out his opponent for tonight, who he promises to teach the meaning of 'hard work'.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“The Pure Athete's” opponent for the evening was announced as instagram influencer @miller_fforde, who was doing nothing to refute Art Reed's attack on his generation as he made his way down to the ring with his friend Sonny Wildside. The two young men seemed more interested in 'vlogging' their entrance to the ring than preparing for the tough matches both men would be facing tonight. </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Once the match kicked off, Art Reed layed into his young opponent with stiff shots. @miller_fforde represented the fame obsessed millenial stereotype that Reed held in such contempt. The two men seemed to gel really well in the ring, and Fforde sold every stiff shot that Reed layed into him like a champ. Unfortunately for the budding Instagram star, Reed was able to lock in his feared Dread Lock. Fforde thrashed around wildly as Sonny Wildside cheered him on from ringside, but nobody breaks out of the Dread Lock and Fforde had no choice but to tap. “The Pure Athlete” didn't break the hold on the bell, forcing Sonny Wildside to slide into the ring to force the break. The few extra seconds in the hold seemed to have done some extra damage to @miller_fforde though, as medics were required to help him to the back. Sonny Wildside and Art Reed had an intense stare down, as “The Pure Athlete” almost dared Wildside to engage.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sonny Wildside's stare down with the COTT World Heavyweight champion didn't last long, as Man Mountain Cahill stomped out from the back. Wildside had saved @miller_fforde from the Man Mountain last month at 'Kings of New York', which meant he was facing a very angry Cahill tonight. While Cahill had a huge size advantage over his lightweight opponent, Wildside was incredibly fast and wasnt afraid of using his own body as a weapon. The New York fans don't tend to see a lot of high flying on an NYCW show, but Wildside showed off all of his tricks tonight. Flying Drop Kicks, Enziguiri's, Flying Cross Body's from the top rope... nothing was too much of a risk for Sonny Wildside. Cahill struggled to lay hands on his opponent in the early stages of this match, as Wildside was simply too quick for him. However it only took one move to turn the tide, as Wildside took one risk too many as he went for another Flying Cross Body from the top rope but was swatted from the air by the Man Mountain.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cahill didn't let up on his opponent, as he delivered a Mountain Topper that Sonny Wildside sold like a million bucks. That was all she wrote as Cahill made the cover for the win.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Unfortunately for Sonny Wildside it didn't look like Man Mountain Cahill was done. The Man Mountain had not been happy at Wildside's interference in his attack on @miller_fforde last month, and was now looking to make “The Man Without Fear” pay for it. However before Cahill could really get stuck into Wildside, he was interrupted by Joffy Laine pushing through the curtain with a microphone in hand. Joffy apologised to Cahill for interruptin', but he believed that the two of them hadn't been properly introduced... where were his manners? Joffy stepped into the ring and introduced himself as “The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine, and told the Man Mountain that if he didn't step away from the kid that Joffy would have to introduce Cahill to some o' his famous 'Southern Hospitality'.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Man Mountain Cahill looked far from intimidated, and let out one of his big belly laughs... but was cut off as “The Jackhammer” landed a huge right hand across the jaw of the Man Mountain. Caught completely off guard, Cahill was reeling from the attack as Joffy Laine continued reigning in with blow and blow. The Man Mountain back himself up against the roped in an attempt to cover up, but “The Jackhammer” was able to land a big Clothesline to dump Cahill over the top rope to the outside. With Cahill now on the outside, “The Jackhammer” helped “The Man Without Fear” back to his feet and the two men stood tall in the ring daring the Man Mountain to get back in. Cahill didn't seem interested in the idea, and instead stomped to the back with a sour look on his face – leaving the two babyfaces to celebrate in the ring.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Buck demanded to know why The Atlantic Connection were receiving a title shot tonight, when her clients had gone over a year unbeaten in their Open Challenge. This drew out Riley McManus, who led Sweet Tabitha and Curtis “CJ” Jenkins down to the ring. Riley reminded Haley Buck that it had been The Atlantic Connection that had ended her clients Open Challenge. Haley Buck did not look impressed and told Riely that while his team may have got lucky once, lightning doesn't strike twice. Buck told Riley to make sure The Atlantic Connection won tonight, so that her clients could take the titles off them in their rematch. She then feinted to step towards Sweet Tabitha, who flinched and timidly hid herself behind Riley. Riley McManus' history with Doctor O'Haire is well documented at this point, with the Doctor ruining the 90's for Riley before sending two of his prisoners after Riley – leading to Riley missing nearly six months of action. Riley has been looking for revenge ever since, leading to him joining Steve Flash in his crusade against Doctor O'Haire, but to date all of Riley's attempts at revenge had run into a Prisoner No. 6 shaped wall. Tonight he had the opportunity to face Doctor O'Haire's other clients, tag team champions The Boys From Yukon. The lumberjacks came to Doctor O'Haire with communication issues that had them on a long losing streak, but their sessions with the doctor had completely turned their fortunes around. The Boys From Yukon had now held the titles for over a year (the longest NYCW Tag Team Championship reign in history), and were led out for this one by the good doctor (with a title belt draped over each shoulder, which was still much to the irritation of Rock Downpour).</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Riley McManus started this one hot for the babyface team, landing a number of his best shots on Whitehorse Whittaker before tagging in his partner. Jenkins started well, utilising his grappling skills to kepe on top of his larger opponent. However, Whittaker was soon able to overpower the Lightweight and make the tag to Howlin' Mad Mort. The tag team champions then took control of the match, isolating Jenkins in their corner. However despite dominating proceedings, they just couldn't quite put Jenkins away. This would come back to haunt them, as Jenkins finally made it back to his corner for the hot tag to Riley! McManus hit the ring and cleared house, dumping Howlin' Mad Mort over the top rope directly onto Doctor O'Haire! Now one-on-one Riley was able to set Whitehorse Whittaker up for his finisher, even having time to blow a kiss to Sweet Tabitha at ringside before bouncing the Heavyweight's legs off of the bottom rope to deliver his Slingshot Suplex. Referee Matthew Whit hit the mat to make the count, and confirm The Atlantic Connection as the new tag team champions!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Having managed to extract himself from beneath the hulking mass of Howlin' Mad Mort, Doctor O'Haire darted straight to the announce desk to grab the NYCW Tag Team Title Belts. Grasping the belts tightly to his chest, O'Haire looked to make a dash for the back... but Riley McManus was able to slide out of the ring and block his path. The Doctor begged and pleaded with Riley not to take his belts, but in a scene reminiscent to 'Beooklyn Bash' Riley was able to rip the title belts from the hands of the doctor! The doctor was absolutely furious, yelling at Riley that he would pay for this as he led The Boys From Yukon to the back.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> Animal Harker & Jebediah [vs] The Canadian Connection (Philippe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie) </strong></div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It had been ten months since Animal Harker and Jebediah had teamed together, with the gentle giant primarily pre-occupied with defending his NYCW Tri-State Regional Title in that time. The Canadian Connection by comparison had teamed a number of times in that period, and had picked up some impressive victories as of late. The Canadian's recent experience working together paid off in the early stages of this match, as they were able to isolate Animal Harker in their corner as they worked on the legs of the former tag team champion.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

However the momentum of the match completely shifted once Harker was able to make the tag to Jebediah. The 6'11 Amish Brawler hit the ring and cleaned house, eventually dumping Philippe LaGrenier to the outside. Hugh Ancrie had no response to the power of the Tri-State Regional champion, and much like last month at 'Kings Of New York' Jebediah hit a big Body Slam to set up the Sundown Splash. However as Jebediah looked to bounce off of the ropes, Philippe LaGrenier had recovered enough to get onto the apron and drop the top rope to send Jebediah tumbling to the outside. Not wasting a moment, LaGrenier stepped into the ring and started stomping away on a still recovering Animal Harker. Harker still hadn't recovered from the beating he took earlier in the match, and was easy picking for LaGrenier to hit his Quebec Arrow finisher to pick up something of a surpirse win for his team.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With his former partner Max Mayhem having left NYCW this month, this match was Ace Youngblood's first opportunity to establish himself as a singles wrestler. The Native American struggled to build any momentum early in this match, as Rick Sanders used all of the tricks he had learned over his 30 year career to slow down the pace of the match up. Eventually however Youngblood was able to build up a head of steam and deliver his Flying Tomahawk Chop to pick up an important singles victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Steve Flash came into this match on the back of a huge victory over the imposing Prisoner No. 6 last month at 'Kings Of New York'. On commentary Rock Downpour tells us that on the back of that loss Doctor O'Haire had put Prisoner No. 6 on a new 'intensive' treatment program, which is why the inmate wasn't here tonight. Ernie Turner jokes that O'Haire will have to put The Boys Of Yukon on the same program after losing their tag team titles earlier in the evening.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

These are two men that were no strangers to each other, having shared the ring numerous times over the year. The Masked Mauler had the size advantage in this one, but over a 33 year career Steve Flash has developed techniques to overcome a size disadvantage – as shown in his win over the imposing Prisoner No. 6 last month. The Masked Mauler made a strong start to this one, but Flash made his comeback and hit the Flash Bang to pick up an important victory to keep his momentum going.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bulldozer Brandon Smith came into this match pumped up, although perhaps too much so. The Bulldozer was a little over aggressive in his attacks, and “The Dark Reaper” was able to pick off the Empire Champion to take control. Scythe kept the pace of the match slow, instead focusing his efforts on delivering high impact power moves to try and wear down the champion.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Empire Champion was finally able to get back into the match as he was able to block an attempted Suplex from Scythe, before delivering a Suplex of his own. The crowd cheered Brandon Smith on as both men slowly struggled back to their feet and met in the middle of the ring. The two big men began trading heavy right hands, with every strike from the Bulldozer being met by a cheer while every right hand from Scythe was met with boos by the New York crowd. After a short exchange, Bulldozer Brandon Smith began to take control of the exchange – his time in Japan clearly helping his striking game. With Scythe struggling, the Bulldozer looked to bounce off the ropes to deliver a heavy Lariat... but before Smith could deliver the move, Scythe caught the Empire champion by the throat! Scythe looked to lift Brandon Smith up for the Chokeslam, but the champion was able to wriggle free. Landing on his feet, Brandon Smith was able to lift an off balance Scythe into position for the Tombstone Piledriver! As Smith delivered his finisher, Honest Frank had slipped into the ring with his demons scythe in hand... but the Bulldozer had learned from their last encounter and when Honest Frank looked to deliver a blow to the back of the champion, the Bulldozer was able to catch the scythe and yank it out of Honest Frank's hands! </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The New York crowd roared as the Bulldozer took the scythe and snapped the implement right across his knee! Honest Frank stared on in shock, before being dumped out of the ring by Brandon Smith. The Bulldozer turned back to the ring where Scythe had recovered, and caught the Empire champion by the throat once again. Before “The Dark Reaper” could deliver the move however, Brandon Smith delivered a boot to the gut to break the demons grip. The Bulldozer was then able to haul the demon into position for a second Tombstone Piledriver, which the champion was able to hit to finally get his clean win over “The Dark Reaper”.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bulldozer Brandon Smith © [vs] “The Dark Reaper” Scythe w/ Honest Frank

[NYCW Empire Title Match]

My guess is we get the switch before Scythe gets signed by one of the big boys. Then it will get switched back.

I did seriously consider making the switch, but my plans down the road make more sense with Brandon Smith holding the strap. Scythe has been a good monster heel for me, but with two losses to the Bulldozer I'll need to think carefully about how to rebuild him now.

@miller_fforde [vs] Art Reed

This is who Reed is messing with instead of a true opponent? Art Reed you are a coward sir

I would argue Reed's just doing his job as a heel champ :p He does seem to have an issue with the young of today though, so don't expect his crusade to end any time soon!

The Atlantic Connection w/ Sweet Tabitha [vs] The Boys From Yukon © w/ Doctor O'Haire

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]

This match could get messy with moving parts. Ring Generals might intervene and create a triple threat situation. I say in their anger(thanks to Haley Buck) that they get involved and screw the team that beat them out of the tag titles.

This was very close to my original plans, but when I mapped out my outline for 2018 I realised I needed Riley & Curtis to be in too many places at once so I had to streamline a few things - which is why they went over clean here. Although I'm sure O'Haire & The Boys From Yukon will be pushing for a rematch asap!

Thank you to everybody who predicted on 'Throwback Thursday'! A few big thing happened this month with BBS finally getting his clean victory over the demon and The Atlantic Connection taking the Tag Team Titles and Riley getting his first taste of revenge against Doctor O'Haire.

Congratulations to jameschaos who got another perfect score this month. Everyone else scored 7/8, with the Main Event being the main miss - with Historian and Theheel both picking Scythe to take the belt. Again, I did consider the switch, but it didn't quite fit my long term plans.

I hope everyone enjoyed the show, and hopefully I'll see you all back on the predictions for the next one. With two shows remaining on this round of the predictions contest jameschaos has built a bit of a lead, but I'd still be interested to hear all of your thoughts! :)

NYCW December Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

While I had been hoping for a quiet December to wind down the year, there was a lot of set up to do to prepare ourselves for 2018. On the back of introducing the CWWF to the alliance, the COTT board decided to offer both AAA & QAW to join the alliance. This was as part of the plan to introduce a new COTT Womens World Championship at the start of 2018. Having AAA & QAW on board would give the new belt greater legitimacy, and there was no crossover in territories with existing members. After a stagnant couple of years, 2018 promised to be hugely exciting for the COTT alliance.

The big news for us this month was TotalExtremeWrestling.com's announcement that RIPW was now classified as a Regional promotion. In celebration, the SWF decided to beef up their developmental roster. They brought in Ross Henry from FCW and, more interestingly for us, Ernest Youngman from PSW. While we had beaten PSW every month since they declared war on us anyway, it was still great to see them lose their ace. The new blood would make RIPW a bigger threat in the Regional Battles, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Closer to home, the financials had come in for November and we'd had a killer month. The risk to hold the show in a bigger arena had paid off handsomely, as we made a $5,592 profit for the month. We'd also ran 'Throwback Thursday' on the same night as PSW's 'Bring The Pain' event – and had outdrawn our rivals by 700 people. We'd also won the monthly Regional Battle, beating PSW in the process, so I'd expected Larry to be in a good mood but I'd received a clip around the ear when I'd arrived to the creative meeting. Larry was pissed off at me for 'forgetting' to renew Freedom Eagle's contract, which was due to run out this week. I hadn't forgotten, I just didn't have any use for the guy. Larry told me he'd personally stepped in and renewed the contract himself, and given the kid a pay rise! I guess I didn't mind keeping the kid around, but I'd have to find a way to let Larry know I didn't like it...

All that was left now was to book our final show for the year, and make sure we left 2017 with a bang.

NYCW Presents Ground Zero

Live from A New York Arena

Thursday W2 December 2017

NYCW welcome you to their year end extravaganza 'Ground Zero', a show that will see the return of the COTT World Heavyweight Championship as Art Reed defends the gold in the nights Main Event against “Bad Bad” Lenny Brown. With “The Pure Athlete's” recent comments on Brown's generation, it will be interesting to see how the Hollywood native approaches his challenge for Reed's World Championship. Art Reed has already defended his World Title five times since winning the title in August, travelling to both Mexico and Canada in his role as champion. Can “The Pure Athlete” make Lenny Brown successful title defence number six?

Following on from last months 'Throwback Thursday', NYCW management have decided to continue that feeling of nostalgia by putting on another NYCW classic match up. Possibly THE classic match over the years, Steve Flash and Honest Frank face off one more time to continue their on-off rivalry stretching back sixteen years.

Elsewhere on the card, Joffy Laine has put himself between Man Mountain Cahill and his intended target a few times over the past few months. At 'Ground Zero', Laine has the opportunity to prove he can take on big men as he faces off against “The Dark Reaper” Scythe. The demon will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss in the Main Event at 'Throwback Thursday' which also saw Bulldozer Brandon Smith breaking the demons scythe over his knee.

'Ground Zero' will also see The Canadian Connection challenging for Riley McManus and Curtis Jenkins' newly won NYCW Tag Team Titles. LaGrenier and Ancrie have earned some big wins over the past few months, and the youngsters will be looking to convert that momentum into their first title as a team. We will also see the debut of Logan Diaz, nephew of the legendary Raymond Diaz, who challenges Jebediah for the NYCW Tri-State Regional Title.

<p>Well I have been completely shut out on the predictions this last period but still I enjoy the shows a ton. So here come the non-winning predictions for the year end show</p><p> </p><p>

Bad Bad” Lenny Brown [vs] “<strong>The Pure Athlete” Art Reed </strong>©</p><p>

[COTT World Heavyweight Championship Match]</p><p>

He ain’t no Leroy Brown that’s for sure</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Atlantic Connection</strong> w/ Sweet Tabitha © [vs] The Canadian Connection</p><p>

[NYCW Tag Team Title Match]</p><p>

A lot of Connections here but only 1 is over</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jebediah</strong> © [vs] Logan Diaz</p><p>

[NYCW Tri-State Regional Title]</p><p>

I feel like Jeb is a little lost a bit. Seems weird since he holds the #2 belt. Logan is a solid talent but hasn’t been in NYCW so I wouldn’t expect him to just come in and win without a little build</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Steve Flash</strong> [vs] Honest Frank</p><p>

[Throwback Match]</p><p>

Frank’s a manager now so you wouldn’t think he would go over here, even with his bag of tricks. Problem is Steve knows all of Frank’s tricks</p><p> </p><p>

“The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine [vs] “<strong>The Dark Reaper” Scythe</strong></p><p>

The loss to Smith has got to be weighing on the Reaper, so he gets some mojo back</p><p> </p><p>

Freedom Eagle [vs] <strong>Man Mountain Cahill</strong></p><p>

Cahill needs a title shot</p><p> </p><p>

@<strong>miller_fforde & “The Man Without Fear” Sonny Wildside</strong> [vs] Old School Principals (Rick Sanders & The Masked Mauler)</p><p>

Youth will prevail over the old boys club</p>
