I get the feeling if you were ever to want to save money, OSP might be on the chopping block and you can bring in two young guys and throw them together as a unit for the underneath jobs. As someone who does like them(Rick in particular), that's kind of a shame but it's a possibility.</p>

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">'Ground Zero' kicks off with the COTT World Heavyweight Champion Art Reed heading down to the ring. Last month we saw Art Reed continue his crusade against generation ME, as he made insta star @miller_fforde tap out to his feared Dread Lock. The World Heavyweight Champion tells us that the lesson he is teaching the youth of today continues tonight as he faces “Bad Bad” Lenny Brown.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This draws Lenny Brown out from the back. Dressed in fancy clothes and wearing diamond rings and ever present shades, the young man from Hollywood, CA looks a million dollars. Lenny Brown tells Art Reed that he hadn't come to New York to hear some bitter old man moan about the young of today, he'd come to win the COTT World Heavyweight Championship! As one could imagine, “The Pure Athlete” did not take this well – telling Brown to watch who he's calling old. Brown simply laughs at Art Reed and tells the World Champion to see if he can keep up in tonights Main Event.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“The Pure Athlete” shakes his head, and tells Lenny Brown that he epitomises everything that's wrong with generation ME. Brown may have shown up in his fancy clothes, his jewellery and his shades, but the fact remains that he is still yet to achieve </div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>anything</em></div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> in the world of pro-wrestling. Brown wants to be treated like a star, without doing any of the work to earn it. The World Champion promises Brown that later on tonight, he would show him the difference between those who have put in their time and those who haven't. Because whether it's in Canada, Mexico, Japan or right here in NYC – once the Dread Lock is applied, everybody taps!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

@miller_fforde and his friend Sonny Wildside are full of energy as they make their way to the ring. Sonny Wildside in particular is chatting animatedly into the Go-Pro perched on his partners head, as they reached the ring Wildside told the camera that “It was time to walk on the wildside!”</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The Old School Principals did not look impressed with their young opponents antics, and looked to make them pay once the bell rang. However, the sheer speed on Sonny Wildside proved too much for Sanders and Mauler to deal with. The veterans used all of their tricks to try and slow down the pace of the match to a pace more suited to them, but they couldn't stop the youngsters momentum. Fforde and Wildside used frequent tags, until Wildside headed up top to deliver his incredible Fear Factor (Moonsault Stomp) to pick up an impressive win for his team.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Riley McManus comes into this match on a high, after getting one up on Doctor O'Haire last month by taking the NYCW Tag Team Titles away from the doctors patients The Boys From Yukon. Their young Canadian opponents have also been on a good run with victories in their last four tag team contests, including an impressive win last month against Animal Harker and the NYCW Tri-State Champion, Jebediah.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Philippe LaGrenier and Riley McManus started this one off, putting on a fantastic back and forth contest. Both teams utilised frequent tags in a match that ebbed back and forth, but as the match wore on it became clear that the connection was much stronger on the Atlantic side of this contest. Riley McManus was able to set up Hugh Ancrie for the Slingshot Suplex, taking a moment to blow a kiss towards Sweet Tabitha before bouncing Ancrie's legs off the bottom rope before making the cover to retain the titles.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:8px;">

Involved: Haley Buck, The Ring Generals, Sweet Tabitha & The Atlantic Connection</span></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Haley Buck was indeed on her way down to the ring, leading her clients The Ring Generals. Buck sarcastically congratulates The Atlantic Connection on their victory, but warns them that their fun ends now. Haley hails 2017 as the year of The Ring Generals, as her clients picked up 10 victories over the course of the year – more than anyone else on the NYCW roster! But Haley said that with less than a week left of 2017 now wasn't the time for reflection, now was the time to look ahead to 2018! The advent of a new year was a time of change – New Year, New Ring Generals. So at 'Rush Hour', for the first time since June 2016 her clients would be taking part in singles contests.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And their opponents? “Marvelous” Marv Statler would be taking on Curtis “CJ” Jenkins, and “Deadly” Dean Waldorf would be facing Riley McManus! Then, having proved that my clients are better than you both one-on-one, the following month at 'Battle For New York' it will be The Ring Generals challenging The Atlantic Connection for the NYCW Tag Team Titles, and my clients will equal the all time record by becoming 5-time champions!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Riley McManus and Curtis “CJ” Jenkins seem to accept Haley's challenge as they step forward to go nose to nose with their respective opponents next month at 'Rush Hour'. Sweet Tabitha however looks concerned as she watches Riley stood nose to nose with “Deadly” Dean Waldorf, a fact that doesn't escape Haley Buck. Haley steps across so that she's nose to nose with Riley's timid young girlfriend, telling Tabitha not to worry – if she feels left out, then maybe the two of them could face off once the boys are done! Tabitha looks horrified at the idea, and tries to back away from Haley Buck but stumbles and falls. Seeing her fall, Riley breaks from his staredown with Waldorf and runs over to check on Tabitha. Haley Buck looks incredibly happy with herself as she leads her clients backstage.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Some amongst you may assume that booking this match was some kind of punishment for Freedom Eagle after Larry renewed his contract behind my back, but you're all just cynics. This was a very one sided contest though, that could best be described as a squash. Jebediah was out quickly following Cahill's victory to ensure the Man Mountain didn't try any of the post match shenanigans he was famous for. Seeing the 6'11 Amish brawler coming, Cahill decided to leave Freedom Eagle alone and strolled to the back with one of his big belly laughs. With Freedom Eagle safe, the commentators turned their attention to introducing Jebediah's challenger for the evening. Logan Diaz was a second generation wrestler, nephew of the legendary Raymond Diaz. The Light Heavyweight wasn't unknown to Tri-State fans of course, having worked for NYCW's arch rivals PSW for nearly two years before being cut. PSW's loss was our gain though, as Logan has all the tools needed to be a star. Naess had dropped the ball on this kid, and I was going to make sure I picked it up and ran with it!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The 6'11 Jebediah had the size advantage in this one, as he does in all of his matches, so Logan Diaz fell back on his amateur wrestling background to take the Amish brawler to the mat (Logan is a former two-time state champion in freestyle wrestling). Diaz controlled most of the match, but struggled to do much more than contain the Tri-State Regional champion and was never able to deliver the killer blow. You can only contain the power of the Amish brawler for so long and around the eight minute mark the “Glorious” one got a little over confident, allowing Jebediah to finally break free and made his comeback. Jebediah's approach to his offence markedly differed to his young opponents, as the Amish Brawler simply ran over Diaz. The young challenger tried to fight back, but Jebediah had all the momentum and took Diaz to the ground with a big Body Slam. With Logan in position, the 6'11 Amish brawler bounced off the ropes to deliver his Sundown Splash to earn a hard fough victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Next we have NYCW Empire Champion Bulldozer Brandon Smith on the way to the ring. Last month, the Bulldozer finally overcame the demon – snapping his scythe over his knee in the process! Brandon Smith tells the crowd how good it felt to finally have pinned Scythe, and how proud he was to have beaten the biggest, baddest man in NYCW. Smith looked like he had a lot more to say, but he was interrupted by the hulking figure of Prisoner No. 6 jumping the NYCW Empire Champion from behind!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We hadn't seen Prisoner No. 6 since his surprise loss to Steve Flash at 'Kings Of New York'. Rock Downpour tells us that Doctor O'Haire had upped the intensity of Prisoner No. 6's treatment following his loss to Flash, and the prisoner certainly looked back to his destructive best as he dismantled the Empire Champion. The attack finished with an emphatic Jail Break from the prisoner, who stood over the broken Brandon Smith staring intensely down at the Empire Champion. An angry looking Doctor O'Haire joined his patient in the ring and yelled down at Brandon Smith if he really thought he'd beaten the baddest man in NYCW? </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Once medics have helped the Empire Champion from the ring following Prisoner No. 6's assault, the man who he defeated last month at 'Throwback Thursday' makes his way to the ring. Scythe heads to the ring without his manager Honest Frank, who is busy preparing for his throwback match with Steve Flash that follows Scythe's match, and without his signature scythe – which was snapped over Brandon Smith's knee in last months Main Event.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The demon approached this match in the same methodical way he always does, relying on power moves to break down his opponent. This strategy serves “The Dark Reaper” well in the early going, but a “jackhammer” of a right hand from Joffy Laine completely turns the tide of this contest. Scythe is clearly rocked from the strike, and Joffy Laine presses home his advantage – backing Scythe into a corner. Laine mounted the second rope and began unloading on the demon with right hand after right hand, using the full ten count from referee Matthew White. Scythe looked dazed as he staggered out of the corner, right into a Death Spiral from Joffy Laine! “The Jackhammer” made the cover, and Matthew White counted the three before Scythe could kick out for Joffy Laine to earn a huge victory over the demon!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Joffy Laine's victory draws Man Mountain Cahill out from the back. The Man Mountain stomps down to the ring with a sour look on his face. “The Jackhammer” had chased off Cahill from an attempted post match attack on Sonny Wildside at 'Throwback Thursday', so one could only assume the Man Mountain was out here for revenge.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Cahill got into the ring and the Big Heavyweight towered over “The Jackhammer”, staring down the Middleweight and daring him to blink. Pumped with adrenaline from slaying the demon, Joffy stood his ground and held the stare of the Man Mountain. This match was an opportunity for the long time fans of NYCW to relive perhaps THE classic rivalry in NYCW history, one that dates back on-off for over sixteen years. With pre-established roles in the rivalry, both men were able to play up to their established characters in this match. Honest Frank was able to play the weasel heel he has become known as over the years, refusing to lock up with Flash in the early stages before taking shortcuts to gain control. However, this couldn't last forever and Flash was able to make his big comeback and hit the Flash Bang for a feel good victory for the fans.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This match was a stark contrast to the Old-School slow paced contest that preceeded it. Art Reed seemed intent on proving that he could keep up with his confident young opponent. The two men went back and forth at a frantic pace, until “Bad Bad” Lenny Brown caught the World Champion off guard with an impressive piece of athleticism to hit a Pop-Up Rana that sent Art Reed flying into the corner. Not letting up, Lenny Brown showed off his fantastic vertical leap with a wicked Flying Avalanche that earned him a two count.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Art Reed looked to be in trouble. “The Pure Athlete” was being outmatched in the athletic contest, so decided to take a shortcut and use a rake to the eyes to halt Brown's momentum. Slowing the match right down, Reed relied on his chain wrestling skills to keep his young opponent pinned to the mat. Having worn down Brown, the World Champion took a moment to bad mouth his opponent... but Brown leapt into action with a Pop-Up Rana from nowhere! All of a sudden Art Reed was reeling, and Lenny Brown was all over the champion. Reed looked in real trouble as Brown lifted the champion up into a firemans carry for his 'Star Treatment' finisher, but the champion was able to slip out the back. Brown turned to stay on top of the champion... but ate a Superkick for his troubles! A desperate Art Reed didn't waste a second and tried to lock in his feared Dread Lock. Lenny Brown fought hard and scrambled for the ropes, but the hold was locked in. Brown fought hard, but there's no escaping the Dread Lock and Brown eventually had to tap.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>2017 In Review</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">As 2017 drew to a close I poured myself a drink and thought back on the past 12 months. 2017 had been a hugely successful year for NYCW – we'd gained popularity, we'd sold more tickets and we'd made money. Mitch Naess declaring War on us in August had threatened to derail our year, but had proved a catalyst for some of the best shows we had put on since I had taken over as booker. The rumours coming out of Pittsburgh were even saying that PSW were driving themselves into debt with the production values they were pushing out in an attempt to outshine us. I still hadn't moved on our production values – Larry wouldn't let me, but the quality of the shows we were putting on was helping us win the war.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The East Coast Wars : Round Two!

Battlelines Are Drawn

q2c33jK.jpg9T076A1.jpg

They say there are no winners in war, only losers. I'd been beginning to believe we could buck that trend, but the first week of January 2018 brought me back down to earth. I had known we would be losing Scythe to RIPW in the New Year. The demon had been good enough to work one last date with us at 'Ground Zero', even agreeing to put Joffy Laine over to give “The Jackhammer” some legitimacy as we built him up to go head to head with Man Mountain Cahill. However, I'd had a contingency plan.

WdIAhIk.jpg

The Ace In The Hole

“The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade – I'd already brought him in for a one shot deal, and now Scythe leaving opened up a slot at the top of my card that Spade would slot perfectly into. I'd already planned out an entire story arc for him, but the day after I made our offer I received the bad news. Mitch Naess had made an offer too. I spoke to Spencer to make sure we were beating PSW's offer, but when I went to Larry to sign it off the cheap skate vetoed it. The top young star in the country, and Larry Vessey refused to match PSW in a bidding war... Did he want to win this war?

I knew why Naess was after Spade – the same reason I was. RIPW had grown to Regional in December, and had immediately began stockpiling the top indy talent. We had lost Scythe, FCW had lost Ross Henry, but PSW had been hit the hardest. Ernest Youngman had been taken in December, but in January RIPW signed Ash Campbell to a developmental deal as well. This left two big holes at the top of Naess' card, and Spade was the obvious choice to fill it.

I had done my best to steer clear of inciting Naess' fury since August. The only slightly antagonizing move I'd made was bringing in Logan Wolfsbaine, but PSW had released him first so it jhad felt fairly safe. I had even gone as far to repackage him as Logan Diaz to distance my new signing from his PSW past.

A few days later, I found at that Mitch Naess' wasn't finished with Spade. Sonny Wildside gave me a call to let me know that Naess had offered him a deal. The day after I got the same call from Hugh Ancrie. Two days later it was Man Mountain Cahill on the phone. The gloves were well and truly off. Mitch Naess had drawn his battle lines and had clearly decided that 2018 was the year that the second East Coast War kicked into overdrive.

I'd entered 2018 feeling incredibly confident that we would be able to get rid of PSW fairly quickly, but with Spencer Spade at the top of their card and Mitch Naess trying to steal every wrestler on my roster I now had to keep my wits about me. To make things worse RIPW had just signed four of the top independent talents in the country, so those Regional Battles we had become so accustomed to winning every month were no longer a given.

I'd come into 2018 feeling like the winner in this war, now I wasn't so sure...

NYCW January Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

Losing Spencer Spade to PSW had put me in a bad mood, and I was directing all of my anger towards Larry Vessey and his cheapness. I pored over the roster, and decided that the new year was as good a time as any to have a slight reshuffle of the roster. Scythe had already signed with RIPW, so that was one spot to fill already. This also left me with the question of what to do with Honest Frank. I had been using him as a mouthpiece for Scythe, but with the demon gone Frank had lost his purpose on the roster. He still had two months left on his contract, so I had a little time to think about it.

Rick Sanders on the other hand was out of contract at the start of the year. I liked Rick and he was a real locker room leader, but it had become painfully obvious last year that his body had given up on him. Part of me wanted to keep the Old School Principals around for another year, but I also knew that they were taking up a spot on the roster that a younger, hungrier team could be filling. I'd be keeping The Masked Mauler on for now, but I had to deliver the bad news to Rick that his 11 year run with us was over.

Our referee Matthew White was then the victim of some very bad timing, as he chose the day after I'd found out Spencer Spade would be joining PSW to barge in my office demanding a pay rise. Now, Matthew White is a very good referee – some would argue the best on the independent circuit, but he was asking for three times what I was paying him now. Larry's cheapness, combined with my bad mood, meant I didn't even bother to sugarcoat my no. Matthew White was furious, and was such a drag on the rest of the roster that I had to let him go. Now I had to find a new ref as well... I hope the first week of the year wasn't indicative of the rest of 2018.

On the positive side, we had won the Regional Battle for December and turned a $5,713 profit while doing so!

Problems At The Top

There were two pieces of big news in the wider wrestling world in the first week of January. The first was the shock fall to Cult of number one promotion USPW! Allen Packer's promotion had looked to be having everything their own way, but even they weren't kimmune to the falling American economy. Industry experts were rating the US economy a 1 out of 100, and somehow they expected things to continue falling before they got better.

But that wasn't even the most shocking news of the month! That came out of Japan, as BHOTWG removed their CEO Tetsuzan Kaneko due to poor performance. The promotion had fallen to Cult size back in June of 2016, but they had largely been seen to have turned thing around over the past eighteen months. Kaneie Komine took control of the company the following week, reportedly by force. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for BHOTWG.

NYCW Presents Rush Hour

Live from A New York Arena

Saturday W2 January 2018

NYCW look to kick off 2018 with a bang at 'Rush Hour', which sees Capitao Brasil Jr travelling down to New York to make his debut on US soil. The OLLIE star travels to the US to challenge for Art Reed's COTT World Heavyweight Championship. The luchador will bring a new style to New York, but can the former SOTBPW star overcome “The Pure Athlete”?

At 'Ground Zero', we saw Haley Buck challenging the NYCW Tag Team Champions on behalf of her clients The Ring Generals. That match will take place next month at 'Battle For New York', but before that we will see The Ring Generals in singles action for the first time since June 2016 as the members of The Atlantic Connection and The Ring Generals face off at 'Rush Hour'. Both teams will be looking to lay down a marker ahead of their big tag match at 'Battle For New York'.

Prisoner No. 6 made an explosive return at 'Ground Zero' as he assaulted the NYCW Empire Champion, leaving Bulldozer Brandon Smith broken in the middle of the ring. There is no news on the Empire Champions condition following the assault, but it has been confirmed that Prisoner No. 6 will be in action at 'Rush Hour', as he faces Ace Youngblood. Prisoner No. 6's therapist Doctor O'Haire has confirmed that he has upped the intensity of his treatment plan following his loss to Steve Flash at 'Kings Of New York', and based on his prisoners explosive return at 'Ground Zero' you would have to say the treatment is working...

gonna comment on these two together, I think it'll either go 1-1, or be a sweep for the generals, leaning towards 1-1 and Riley is the more over of the connection.

Kind of going with a split here.

“The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine [vs] Logan Diaz

This legit could be your Tri-State feud in a year or two considering the charisma and talent on display here.

Ace Youngblood [vs] Prisoner No. 6 w/ Doctor O'Haire

Bulldozer has to save Ace from being MDK'd. I also wonder where Steve Flash falls in all this. I wonder if a triple threat between Flash, Prisoner, and Bulldozer is a possibility.

Brooklyn's Finest (Freedom Eagle & Hawkeye Calhoun) [vs] The Canadian Connection (Philippe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie)

One team is getting a semi push, the other isn't. Plus LaGrenier is just a solid pro in the game.

There will be some flyer miles racked up in this tag team match.

Gotta figure that they teams split this

I’d book Logan in this one but then Joffy was being set up to take on Cahill. But Cahill is leaving most likely which to sign with PSW. I’m going to say that you book Joffy to win I guess

Ace Youngblood [vs] Prisoner No. 6 w/ Doctor O'Haire

Ace should have left with his partner most likely

Announce Team:

Rock Downpour & Ernie Turner

Rock Downpour
and
Ernie Turner
welcome us to 2018, which promises to be a huge year for NYCW! Rock Downpour hypes the US debut of Capitao Brasil, who will be representing OLLIE in tonights as he challenges for Art Reed's COTT World Heavyweight Championship in tonights Main Event.

Ace Youngblood [vs] Prisoner No. 6 w/ Doctor O'Haire

Prisoner No. 6 returned to NYCW in sprectacular fashion last month at 'Ground Zero' as he attacked and beat down Empire Champion Bulldozer Brandon Smith. This was our first opportunity to see the prisoner in action since his therapist Doctor O'Haire has increased the intensity of his treatment plan. Judging by this performance, the increase in intensity had somehow made Prisoner No. 6 even more vicious and destructive than he already was! The inmate threw his Native American opponent around the ring like a rag doll for seven minutes, before finally hitting the Jail Break to round off a scarily destructive victory.

Rating: C

Winner:
Prisoner No. 6

Finish:
Pinfall (Jail Break)

Notes: Ace Youngblood & Prisoner No. 6 have great chemistry as opponents and it showed in their performances.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Whatever Doctor O'Haire's new treatment plan is, it seems to be working. He's found a way of making Prisoner No. 6 even more destructive...”

Ernie Turner: “And I was scared of him before Rocky!”

Glad To Have Your Attention!

Involved: Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Prisoner No. 6

Unfortunately for Ace Youngblood, Prisoner No. 6 wasn't done. The vicious inmate continued to club away at the Native American with heavy blows until the pop of the crowd got the inmates attention.

Rock Downpour:
“It's Bulldozer Brandon Smith! He wasn't meant to be here tonight!”

The Empire Champion came tearing down to the ring, but the heavy tape around his ribs gave away that Brandon Smith was clearly still feeling the effects of the beatdown he received at the hands of Prisoner No. 6 two weeks ago at 'Ground Zero'. Seeing the bandaging, Doctor O'Haire confidently stepped between his patient and the angry Empire Champion. O'Haire told Smith that he was glad that they finally had his attention. The doctor told the Empire Champion that he was very proud of his new treatment technique, so proud in fact that he had wanted the Bulldozer to be the first man to experience the results first hand! O'Haire continued that while his treatments had all been successful so far – first his prisoner had become the longest reigning NYCW Tri-State Regional Champion in company history under his therapy, and then his latest patients, The Boys Of Yukon, had broken the record for the longest reigning NYCW Tag Team Champions. But Doctor O'Haire said that his latest therapy was the one that would bring him the prize that he had been craving ever since he arrived in New York, the NYCW Empire Championship!

O'Haire said that he could tell that Bulldozer Brandon Smith wanted to get his hands on his prisoner, but that wouldn't happen tonight. The only way that the Bulldozer could get his revenge was by putting his title on the line against the doctors patient next month at 'Kings Of New York'! The Bulldozer accepted without a moments hesitation, when the Doctor suddenly displayed some concern for the Empire Champion. The Doctor remembered that the Bulldozer hadn't been able to take part in a match at 'Ground Zero' due to the attack by his patient, and he also knew that Smith wasn't due to take part in a match tonight. Doctor O'Haire told the Empire Champion that he didn't want him to go into his match with his prisoner undercooked, so he had arranged a little warm up for him tonight...

The Boys From Yukon slid into the ring behind a confused looking Brandon Smith, and Prisoner No. 6 stepped forward so that Doctor O'Haire's patients had the Empire Champion surrounded. Things looked bad for Brandon Smith, until Steve Flash came flying out of the back! Seeing Flash coming, the Doctor called off his prisoner and stepped out of the ring to leave The Boys From Yukon to deal with the babyfaces.

Segment Rating: B+

</div>

Rock Downpour: “Steve Flash saves the Empire Champion from a three-on-one beatdown, but Bulldozer Brandon Smith doesn't look like he's in any shape to compete tonight Ernie...”

Ernie Turner: “He's going to have to be Rocky. This all seems to be playing into Doctor O'Haire and his prisoners hands...”

Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Steve Flash [vs] The Boys From Yukon (Howlin' Mad Mort & Whitehorse Whittaker)

Doctor O'Haire chose to send his prisoner to the back and join Rock Downpour and Ernie Turner on commentary for this one. Despite his damaged ribs Bulldozer Brandon Smith insisted on starting this one for his team, a move that didn't pay off as The Boys From Yukon targeted the injury and isolated the Empire Champion in their corner for most of the match. Doctor O'Haire was delighted with what he was seeing, as his lumberjacks continued to work away on the ribs of Smith with knees and clubbing blows. The Bulldozer was clearly hurt, but The Boys From Yukon didn't seem interested in going for the pin – instead seemingly intent on dishing out more and more damage to the injured ribs of the champion.

This would eventually come back to cost the lumberjacks, as the Bulldozer was finally able to power back to his own corner and tag in the fresh Steve Flash. The former World Heavyweight Champion hit the ring, and immediately the complexion of the match shifted. Mort and Whittaker had wasted a lot of energy wearing down the Empire Champion, and even at 51 years old they struggled to keep up with the fresh Steve Flash. The veteran was able to dump Howlin' Mad Mort to the outside, taking away the numbers game and one-on-one he was able to land a Flash Bang on Whitehorse Whittaker to secure the win for his team.

Rating: C+

Winners:
Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Steve Flash

Finish:
Pinfall (Flash Bang)

Notes: In terms of in-ring work, Bulldozer Brandon Smith was head and shoulders above everyone else.

</div>

Rock Downpour: “The Boys From Yukon looked to have that match in the bag when they had Bulldozer Brandon Smith isolated in their corner, but they let it slip. You must be frustrated with that performance doctor?”

Doctor O'Haire: “Not at all. The Boys had a job to done, and they executed it to perfection. You've seen what my prisoner did to a fresh Brandon Smith at 'Ground Zero', lets see what he can do to a wounded buck!”

Ernie Turner: “You're saying your patients weren't even trying to win tonight?”

Doctor O'Haire: “Oh, they wanted to win Ernie, but they understand that there's a bigger picture at play. To quote Sun Tzu - Sometimes it's worth losing a battle in order to win the war.”

Brooklyn's Finest (Hawkeye Calhoun & Freedom Eagle) [vs] The Canadian Connection (Philippe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie

Doctor O'Haire stayed on commentary for this match, and hyped the benefits of his new treatment plan for Prisoner No. 6. While he did so, The Canadian Connection put in a great performance here as they dominated Brooklyn's Finest. Phillipe LaGrenier hit the Quebec Arrow on Freedom Eagle just past the five minute mark to end a very one sided contest.

I Can Help You!

Involved: Doctor O'Haire & The Candian Connection

Doctor O'Haire leaves the commentary desk to join the celebrating Philippe LaGrenier & Hugh Ancrie in the ring. The Canadian Connection initially look distrusting towards the Doctor, but O'Haire tells the boys that he's been watching their matches and he's noticed their talents. Throwing an arm around Philippe LaGrenier's shoulder and reminded the Canadian that everyone he has taken on as a patient has gone on to win gold here in NYCW, before proclaiming that “I can help you”! He asked the Canadian's if that sounded like something they would be interested in, and Philippe LaGrenier and Hugh Ancrie both immediately nod in agreement. O'Haire handed LaGrenier one of his cards, and tells the boys that he'll be in touch before leaving them in the ring to celebrate their win. LaGrenier and Ancrie immediately group togetehr to read what it says on O'Haire's card, with huge grins on their faces.

Ernie Turner: “Sounds like the doctors back recruiting Rocky!”

Rock Downpour: “Just what we need, more people round here following his orders!”

“The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine [vs] “Glorious” Logan Diaz

Joffy Laine came into this match on the back of the biggest win of his NYCW career to date, after defeting “The Dark Reaper” Scythe two weeks ago at 'Ground Zero'. After that performance many may have expected Laine to have an easier time with Logan Diaz, who was still in his rookie year. However Logan Diaz match Joffy Laine move for move in this contest, coming close to putting Laine away on more than one occasion. It was the striking power of “The Jackhammer” that would ultimately prove the difference between the two, as Joffy Laine worked an opening to hit the Death Spiral to continue his momentum.

Rating: C-

Winner:
“The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine

Finish:
Pinfall (Death Spiral)

Rock Downpour: “A tough match, but another big win for “The Jackhammer” tonight!”

Ernie Turner: “How impressive was Logan Diaz again though? He impressed against Jebediah last month, and once again pushed an established opponent all the way tonight.”

Rock Downpour: “Diaz looks to have inherited his uncles talent inside the ring, that's for sure. At only 22, you sense that one win is all Diaz needs to really kick on and make a success of himself here in New York.”

<div style="background-color:#3361FF;color:darkblue;border-style:solid;border-width:3px;box-shadow: #3393FF; margin:10px;background: #FFFFFF; max-width:60%;box-shadow: 0 6px 12px ";">

Punching Through A Man Mountain?

Involved: “The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine & Man Mountain Cahill

Following his hard fought win, Joffy Laine jumps on the microphone and calls Man Mountain Cahill down to the ring. The Big Heavyweight stomps out from the back, steps into the ring and towers over Laine. “The Jackhammer” reminds Cahill that last month he showed that he wasn't scared of him. Joffy Laine took down a demon, and now he's wondering if he can punch through a mountain! “The Jackhammer” tells Cahill that their back and forth has been going on for too long and lays down a challenge for 'Kings Of New York'. The Man Mountain lets out one of his big belly laughs, before responding “Okay little man”. Cahill feints attacking Laine, but “The Jackhammer” doesn't flinch and reiterates that he isn't scared of Cahill. The Man Mountain doesn't look too bothered as he lets out another of his belly laughs as he stomps to the back.

Segment Rating: B+

Ernie Turner: “That's a huge announcement Rocky! “The Jackhammer” vs the “Man Mountain” next month at 'Kings Of New York'!”

Rock Downpour: “It promises to be a blockbuster showdown! We've seen how hard “The Jackhammer” can strike – hard enough to take down a demon! But can he punch his way through a Man Mountain?”

@miller_fforde & “The Man Without Fear” Sonny Wildside [vs] The Amazing Caballero Bros (Jose Caballero & Marcos Caballero)

This was a tag team match between two young, exciting teams looking to establish themselves in the world of pro-wrestling. Once again, Sonny Wildside was more interested in chatting animatedly at the go-pro strapped to @miller_fforde's head during their entrance than focusing on the match ahead, signing off a they reached the ring by telling the camera that it was “time to walk on the wildside!”

Marcos Caballero, the larger of The Amazing Caballero Bros, started the match off with @miller_fforde. The two men went back and forth for a few minutes, but the match really kicked into overdrive when the tags were made to Sonny Wildside and Jose Caballero respectively. The two youngsters immediately took to the air, showing off their incredible athleticism. Unfortunately this style of wrestling didn't really hit home with our Old-School audience who are more used to a slower, more grounded style of wrestling. However even the most stuck in their ways observer couldn't help but be impressed by Sonny Wildside's incredible Fear Factor finisher (Moonsault Stomp), which he landed just before the six minute mark to pick up the win for his team.

Curtis “CJ” Jenkins w/ Riley McManus & Sweet Tabitha [vs] “Deadly” Dean Waldorf w/ Marv Statler & Haley Buck

This match was the first of two matches that would pit the members of the NYCW Tag Team Champions The Atlantic Connection and their challengers at next months 'Kings Of New York' The Ring Generals. The teams had a lot of history, with Curtis “CJ” Jenkins' debut in NYCW being in The Ring Generals Open Challenge, a segment that had run for over a year until The Atlantic Connection beat The Ring Generals to end the challenge.

This match was also “Deadly” Dean Waldorf's first singles match since June 2016, and Curtis Jenkins' singles debut in NYCW. The two men put on a technical clinic, catching as catch can as they moved through transitions seamlessly. This match was clean as a whistle for over ten minutes before Haley Buck interjected herself into the match behalf of her client, tripping Curtis Jenkins as he looked to bounce off the ropes. Curtis “CJ” Jenkins stumbled back into the middle of the ring, right into a Waldorf Salad Toss (Pop-Up Powerbomb) from Waldorf! “Deadly” Dean made the cover, but there was no kick out.

Winner:

Ernie Turner: “Did you see that Rocky! Haley Buck getting involved in her clients matches again, and influencing the outcome!”

Rock Downpour: “One could argue that she's earning her money, but Curtis Jenkins has every right to feel agrieved after that one.”

Clear The Ring!

Involved: Haley Buck, The Ring Generals, Sweet Tabitha & The Atlantic Connection

Immediately after the bell, there was a fracas in the ring as Riley McManus and Curtis “CJ” Jenkins reacted to Haley Buck's involvement in the match. The Atlantic Connection were soon nose to nose with The Ring Generals, and there was a lot of shoving back and forth as the two teams argued. It took a good few minutes for new referee Jez McArthuer to regain control of proceedings, but when he did he immediately banned everyone from ringside for the next match!

Haley Buck immediately began remonstrating with the official, yelling in the face of Jez McArthuer. By contrast, Sweet Tabitha gave her boyfriend Riley McManus a peck on the cheek and wished him luck before meekly heading to the back. Referee Jez McArthuer stood firm and after much more arguing eventually security were called to lead Haley Buck and Dean Waldorf to the back.

Ernie Turner: “A big call from Jez McArthuer on his first night on the job.”

Riley McManus [vs] “Marvelous” Marv Statler

With the ringside area cleared, McManus and Statler were free to focus all of their energies into this contest. This was a fantastic back and forth contest, with both men able to call on their brawling and technical skills to mix up their offence and keep their opponent on their toes. With no Haley Buck at ringside, Marv Statler wrestled this one surprisingly clean. Perhaps this ended up being to his detriment, as Riley McManus was able to work an opening to bounce Statler's legs off of the bottom rope to nail him with his Slingshot Suplex and pick up an important win for his team to level the series up 1-1.

Rating: C

Winner:
Riley McManus

Finish:

Rock Downpour: “Riley McManus gets back the win for The Atlantic Connection. They go one-and-one with The Ring Generals in singles, but which team will walk away with the NYCW Tag Team Titles next month at 'Kings Of New York'?”

Ernie Turner: “I think the real question is what role will Haley Buck play in the outcome of that match? Did The Atlantic Connection learn their lesson tonight?”

A Fighting Champion

Involved: Art Reed

Next up is the Main Event. The challenger is out first, and is hard to miss painted in the yellow and green of the Brazilian flag. The COTT World Heavyweight Champion is out next, and Art Reed has a microphone in hand as he heads to the ring.

“The Pure Athlete” tells the crowd that the COTT committee had been in touch with him, complaining about his crusade against the youth of today. Not that they disagreed with his position, but that the youth he had been focusing on was not employed by the COTT alliance. Art Reed called himself a fighting champion, reminding everyone that he had travelled all over the COTT defending his title – in Canada, Mexico, New York and California, seven men had tried to take this belt so far but all comers had failed. But Reed said that he had taken what the COTT committee on board, and asked them to send him a challenger over for tonight... and they'd sent him this. Another member of Generation ME not willing to do the hard yards, and expecting instant gratification without earning it. Reed tells the audience that he'd been reading up on Capitao Brasil Jr and he'd found out that since joining OLLIE after being released from SOTBPW, the 28 year old had taken part in two matches, both title matches, and had lost them both! Reed asked why a man who was yet to win a match within the COTT alliance was receiving three title shots in his first three matches?

“The Pure Athlete” concluded that his opponent tonight was further proof that the issue of Generation ME was not isolated to just the confined of America, it had spread wider. So Art Reed said his crusade would continue tonight, because whether it was an entitled kid from New York or an entitled kid from Mexico – once the Dread Lock is applied, everybody taps!

Segment Rating: C

Rock Downpour: “I'm not sure how much reading Art Reed did on Capita Brasil Jr, but how he can claim the man has done nothing to earn this shot is beyond me. He had eight years in SOTBPW, becoming a two-time Campeonatos de Trios champion – all at 28 years old. Art Reed should underestimate this young man at his peril!”

'Representing OLLIE' Capitao Brasil Jr [vs] “The Pure Athlete” Art Reed ©

COTT World Heavyweight Championship

The colourful Capitao Brasil Jr brings a new style to New York, as the luchador flies around the ring in tonights Main Event. Art Reed uses all of his athleticism to avoid being overwhelmed by the young luchador, before drawing the former SOTBPW star into a technical contest. This suits the COTT World Heavyweight Champion much better, and allows Art Reed to take control of the match. “The Pure Athlete” kept his opponent pinned to the mat for a few minutes, until Capitao Brasil Jr broke free of Art Reed's clutches and wound up into his comeback. The luchador flew around the ring and took to the air as he looked to push home his advantage. The challenger headed up to the top rope once more, looking for one more high rish, high impact move. Capitao Brasil Jr took to the air... right into a Super Kick from Art Reed! The luchador was clearly knocked out, but rather than going for the pinfall Reed hauled his opponent into his Dread Lock. Referee Jez McArthuer asked Capitao Brasil Jr if he wanted to give up, but the OLLIE star was unconcious. The referee called for the bell, but Art Reed kept the hold locked in for a good ten seconds past the bell until Jez McArthuer returned with the COTT World Heavyweight Championship Belt which “The Pure Athlete” arrogantly took from the referee to celebrate.

Rating: C

Winner:
Art Reed

Finish:
Submission (Dread Lock)

Notes: Art Reed makes defence number 7 of his COTT World Heavyweight title.

Ernie Turner: “Another message sent from Art Reed to Generation ME tonight with that Dread Lock.”

Rock Downpour: “Who will be the man to stop “The Pure Athlete”? There's got to be a ton of young wrestlers out there dying to put Reed in his place!”

Ernie Turner: “It won't be next month at 'Battle For New York' though Rocky! What a Main Event we have for you – Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Prisoner No. 6 for the NYCW Empire Title!”

Rock Downpour: “Two monsters of men go in to battle... be sure not to miss it!”

Good show! I enjoyed the 2017 review :D

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the review! I always find it interesting to see how game worlds evolve, so I like to put these up every year. If anyones got any specific questions about any workers let me know :)

Flash and The Atlantic Connection are still involved in their feud with Doctor O'Haire and his crew. Steve Flash made the save this show, but expect Flash to continue to stand up against Doctor O'Haire's schemes. Riley & CJ are stuck in their feud with the Ring Generals and The Boys Of Yukon.

Who???

Capitao Brasil was released by SOTBPW in late 2017. Because of SOTBPW's US TV deal, he had really good pop in the US (to the point he moaned about losing to Reed) so I thought I'd take advantage of someone in the COTT with good pop :)

The first show of 2018 is in the bank. I was hoping for a better rating, but we moved Doctor O'Haire and his Prisoner into the Empire Title scene - which I've been building towards since the start of this save. I'm really looking forward to getting into Prisoner No. 6's Main Event run, so can't wait for the build to Gang Wars!

'Rush Hour' was the final show of this round of predictions. jameschaos, SIser187 and Theheel all got perfect scores in what was a 'moving show', meaning that jameschaos is the overall winner of this round of predictions! I'll PM jameschaos in the next few days with your prize. :)

The next prediction contest will kick off from the next show at 'Kings Of New York' and run through to our biggest show of the year at 'Gang Wars'. Hope to see everyone for the next show!

NYCW February Creative Meeting

HXSuquI.jpgCk3d93F.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KJgaKKY.jpg

February 2018 proved to be a hugely exciting month in the world of professional wrestling. The big news in the American wrestling was the announcement that BriCo had removed Kyle Rhodes as CEO of TCW. This marked the end of Rhodes' 22 year association with the company following a tough few years which saw the company lose almost all of it's most marketable stars. This news was followed a few days later with the shock announcement that Pee-Wee Germaine had been selected by BriCo as the man to replace Rhodes. Pee-Wee, best known for his work as a referee in CZCW, was a left field choice that caught the entire wrestling world off guard. Pee-Wee immediately hired Shane Sneer to be his booker, and all eyes will be on the pair to see if they can turn the struggling promotions fortunes around.

gRgUAWL.jpg

The End Of An Era

There was also big news in Japan, as BHOTWG completed their takeover of GCG. Many observers noted the ruthllessness of new owner Kaneie Komine, and speculated what the future held for the Japanese wrestling scene. This also meant that BCG had outlasted their spiritual forefather, being the only remnant of the 'roaring lion' tradition.

Back in New York we had our own issues. Mitch Naess was coming after my entire roster. In January alone he made offers to The Ring Generals, The Silencer (Prisoner No. 6), Howlin' Mad Mort, Miller Fforde (@miller_fforde) and even Hawkeye Calhoun. Luckily for me all of my boys stayed put, but Naess was clearly out to poach any of my guys he could get his hands on... even Hawkeye!

RIPW were also causing me a headache. With their indy-star studded roster, they managed to put on a C-rated show for January headlined by an indy dream match of Ross Henry defeating Andre Jones for the RIPW Championship. Thankfully Andre Jones was immediately called up to the main roster following the title switch. What he was doing in developmental in the first place is beyond me. However with guys like Ross Henry, Ernest Youngman, Scythe and Ash Campbell still on their roster RIPW were going to continue to be a headache for us in the Regional Battle every month.

The final bit of bad news for the month was the confirmation that PGHW would be using all three of Art Reed, Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Animal Harker during their next tour. I had been expecting Reed and Smith to be called up, but this was a huge break for Animal Harker. His first chance at a run with a National promotion. As much as a headache it was going to cause me, I could only wish all three of them well and hope they all came back in one piece!

NYCW Presents Kings Of New York

Live from A New York Arena

Saturday W2 February 2018

NYCW welcome to their annual quest to crown the 'Kings Of New York'. Two months ago at 'Ground Zero', Prisoner No. 6 shocked New York as he made his surprise return by decimating the Empire Champion. This month Bulldozer Brandon Smith puts his title on the line against the vicious inmate. Prisoner No. 6's therapist, Doctor O'Haire, insists that his new, more intensive treatment plan has made Prisoner No. 6 more violent and dangerous than ever, but will that be enough to overcome the Bulldozer?

In a stcked card, the co-Main Event for the evening finally sees The Atlantic Connection and The Ring Generals wrestle for the NYCW Tag Team Titles. The Atlantic Connection made an explosive debut back in September as they were the team to finally defeat The Ring Generals and end their Open Challenge. However, Haley Buck claimed that her clients were at a disadvantage as they had no idea who their opponents would be whereas The Atlantic Connection could prepare for the match. The two teams then faced off in singles contests last month at 'Rush Hour', but ended up 1-1. With so little between these two teams, who will prove themselves as the best tag team and be crowned 'Kings Of New York'?

We will also finally see “The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine go one-on-one with Man Mountain Cahill. “The Jackhammer” has been foiling the Man Mountains attempts at post match beatdowns for months, and hasn't taken a backwards step from his much larger opponent. Can Laine overcome the odds and punch his way through a Man Mountain, or Cahill prove to be one challenge too many for Joffy?

Art Reed also continues his crusade against Generation ME, as he faces off against “The Man With No Fear” Sonny Wildside. Wildside came into NYCW due to being a fan of @miller_fforde on Instagram. Wildside's idolation of Fforde (who Reed views as a lazy, talentless wannabe celebrity) will no doubt land Wildside in “The Pure Athletes” bad books.

Elsewhere on the show, The Boys From Yukon will be in tag team actionas they look to bounce back from losing their NYCW Tag Team Titles. Steve Flash is in action, and Jebediah will defend his NYCW Tri-State Regional Title. Be sure not to miss what promises to be a fantastic evening of in-ring action!

Reed says that over the past few years he's faced dozens of young wannabes, whether it be in Japan, Canada, Mexico or the US, they all have the same entitled attitude – wanting all of the results without putting in the word. This match was contested at a break neck speed throughout, with Sonny Wildside flying around the ring and “The Pure Athlete” using every trick in the book in an attempt to keep up with the youngster. Sonny Wildside took Art Reed off his feet with a flashy Springboard Cross Body, and “The Man Without Fear” headed straight to the top rope. Wildside signalled to the camera being helg by @miller_fforde, before launching himself into his incredible Fear Factor finisher (Moonsault Stomp). Unfortunately for Sonny Wildside, Art Reed had enough ring sense to roll out of the way causing Wildside to crash and burn. The youngster looked in real pain after this move, and it didn't take long for Art Reed to take advantage of his injured opponent and lock in the Dread Lock for the submission victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Doctor O'Haire is out next, leading his prisoner down to the ring. The doctor tells the crowd that tonight, his patient finally receives the Empire Title shot that he deserves. The doctor says that NYCW management has held Prisoner No. 6 back because of his past, but that now even they can't deny the progress that the doctor has made with his patient over the past two years. He found Prisoner No. 6 in the New York Penitentiary, a man consumed by rage. Society had given up on him, but Doctor O'Haire knew his treatment program would give him a chance. Over the past two years, Doctor O'Haire had taken that rage that used to be all-consuming and in NYCW he had found an outlet to focus it. And tonight all of that rage, all of that frustration would be focused on one man – Bulldozer Brandon Smith. Doctor O'Haire says that he wouldn't want to be Brandon Smith when he steps into the ring with his newly focused prisoner after his new treatment plan, and reminds everyone of the success of his previous treatment plans – helping Prisoner No. 6 to becoming the longest reigning NYCW Tri-State Regional champion in NYCW history, before g The Boys From Yukon around from a losing streak to the longest reigning NYCW Tag Team champions in company history. Doctor O'Haire says that his treatment record is undeniable, and tells Brandon Smith to enjoy his last night as NYCW Empire champion – because it's time for his prisoner to take his rightful spot at the top of the company.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Doctor O'Haire and Philippe LaGrenier crossed paths as the young Canadian was in action next against Animal Harker. Last month at 'Rush Hour', the doctor had shown interest in taking on LaGrenier and his partner Hugh Ancrie on as potential new patients. The two men shared a few words as they crossed paths, before LaGrenier continued on to the ring.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

LaGrenier looked pumped up from his conversation with the good doctor, an dominated the early proceedings in this contest. The young Canadian pounded away at Animal Harker, looking to put his opponent away early. However Animal Harker's ability to take a beating is well known in New York, and LaGrenier couldn't keep his larger opponent down. LaGrenier eventually began to tire, which created an opening for Animal Harker to strike back. Harker's intense attack style, honed during his time in Japan, caught LaGrenier by surprise and the young Canadian was immediately placed on the back foot. Harker delivered stiff strikes and powerful suplexes to take control of the contest. Sensing he was in real trouble, LaGrenier resorted to a poke in the eye in an attempt to slow Harker down – but even this wasn't enough to slow down the Animal, as Harker was right back on top of his opponent. Harker hoisted LaGrenier up for yet another Suplex, but this time the young Canadian was able to bridge through behind Harker and roll his opponent up into a pinning predicament. In a desperate move, Philippe LaGrenier put his feet up onto the second rope for extra leverage and was able to force his opponents shoulders down for just long enough for referee Jez McArthuer to count the three. </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Hugh Ancrie looked pumped up going into this match, having just seen his tag team partner walk out of his match victorious. Unfortunately for Ancrie, he found himself up against 33 year pro of the business, and former COTT World Heavyweight Champion Steve Flash. Putting these two fine technicians together in a match, one would expect a free flowing, catch-as-catch-can contest full of seamless transitions, but for whatever reason that just didn't happen here. The two men just appeared to be on different wave lengths, and there was more than one awkward moment as they missed transitions. Unfortunately this made the match underwhelmed and was much less enjoyable than I felt it could have been. Steve Flash eventually hit his Flash Bang to pick up the win.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"><strong>Ernie Turner:</strong></span><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"> “Speaking of tough asks, how about our next match? </div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong> “The Jackhammer” Joffy Laine [vs] Man Mountain Cahill </strong></div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Man Mountain Cahill had a big size advantage in this contest, and looked to make this advantage pay. The Man Mountain has some early success but much like in Laine's contest with Scythe, a huge “Jackhammer” of a right hand turns the contest back in the babyfaces favour. The Man Mountain is clearly reeling from the strike, and Joffy Laine backs him into a corner with another huge overhand right. “The Jackhammer” mounts the second Rope and begins unloading on the Man Mountain, looking to make use of referee Jez McArthuer's full ten count. Joffy hammers away, 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“The Jackhammer” right hands are stopped short as the Man Mountain is able to wrap both of his monster sized fists around Joffy Laine's neck. Cahill lifted Laine up high into the air, taking a step back towards the middle of the ring before delivering a devastating Mountain Topper (Sit Out Double-Handed Chokebomb). Unfortunately for the Man Mountain, the “jackhammer” right hands he received earlier mean he's too hurt to take avantage and both men are left down in the middle of the ring. </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Both competitors use until the referees eight count, before using the ropes to return to their feet. Both men staggered to the middle of the ring and began trading right hands, cheers greeting every “jackhammer” right hand and boos every blow from the Man Mountain. Cahill quickly realises that trading right hands with “The Jackhammer” is an incredibly bad idea, as Joffy Laine quickly overwhems his much larger opponent. Things look desperate for Cahill, and he takes a shortcut as he uses his weight to push his opponent into referee Jez McArthuer. This causes Jez McArthuer to take his eyes off the action for a few moments, allowing Man Mountain Cahill to deliver a low blow – kicking “The Jackhammer” right between the legs. This opens up an opportunity for Cahill to grab the throat of his doubled over opponent and deliver a second Mountain Topper to pick up an hugely questionable victory.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Despite picking up the win, Man Mountain Cahill does not look happy. The Man Mountain has evil intentions in his eyes, as he drags Joffy Laine to the outside of the ring. Setting his opponent up in front of the announce table, Cahill puts bothof his ham-sized fists around Joffy Laine's neck – looking to set him up for a third Mountain Topper of the evening, this time through the announce table!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Luckily for “The Jackhammer”, the cavalry arrives in the form of the 6'11 300lb+ NYCW Tri-State Regional champion Jebediah! While Joffy Laine had caused Man Mountain Cahill all sorts of problems, he was always giving up a good 60 lbs to the Man Mountain. However, Jebediah was an entirely different equation. The 6'11 Amish Brawler had a couple of inches on the Man Mountain, and the Bulky Big Heavyweight was giving up nothing in the weight department either. There was an awesome visual, as the 6'9 320lb Man Mountain Cahill squared up to the 6'11 325lb Amish Brawler. There was a tense few moments as neither man gave an inch, before the Man Mountain let out one of his big belly laughs and headed to the back. Doctor O'Haire walked down to the ring with his patients for this one, and joined Rock Downpour and Ernie Turner on commentary – much to the displeasure of Rock Downpour. During the match O'Haire hyped up tonights Main Event, which saw his patient Prisoner No. 6 challenging for the NYCW Empire Title. O'Haire continued to hype the benefits of his new, more intense treatment plan that had seen his prisoner become even more focused and powerful than ever before. O'Haire also announced that he had been in talks with NYCW management about The Boys Of Yukon. His patients had still not received their rematch for the NYCW Tag Team Titles since losing them at 'Throwback Thursday'. O'Haire said this was a travesty as his patients had broken the record for the longest title reign while holding the belts. Luckily NYCW management had agreed, and O'Haire announced that The Boys From Yukon would be getting their rematch for the NYCW Tag Team Titles next month at 'March Madness' – regardless of the result in tonights NYCW Tag Team Title match.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

While Doctor O'Haire was announcing all of this, the action in the ring was very one sided as his patients The Boys From Yukon squashed Brooklyn's Finest. The lumberjacks threw their opponents around for five minutes, before delivering their Tiiiiiiiiiiimber! finisher for a momentum boosting win heading into their title match at 'March Madness'.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This was a fantastic tag team contest, with both teams getting the chance to showcase their skills between the ropes. Riley McManus carried the bulk of the load for his team, holding his own against the fluid teamwork of The Ring Generals. However, Curtis “CJ” Jenkins found himself stranded in The Ring Generals corner as Dean Waldorf and Marv Statler cut the ring in half and utilised frequent tags to isolate and wear down their opponent. Jenkins eventually made it back to his corner and made the hot tag, much to the delight of Sweet Tabitha at ringside. Riley McManus hit the ring and cleaned house! Marv Statler was dumped from the ring, and the Georgian was even able to bounce Dean Waldorf's legs off the second rope to deliver his Slingshot Suplex finisher (after blowing a kiss to Sweet Tabitha at ringside of course). McManus looked to have the titles secured, but Haley Buck was able to lift her clients foot onto the bottom rope behind referee Jez McArthuer's back, before alerting the referee to the fact.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Sweet Tabitha tried to alert Riley to what had happened, but received a sharp stare from Haley Buck and was silenced. Back in the ring, Riley McManus pulled Dean Waldorf back to his teams corner and tagged in Curtis “CJ” Jenkins before hopping outside the ring to deal with Marv Statler. Jenkins sensed Waldorf was ripe for the picking, and looked to bounce off the ropes to deliver a big move... but Haley Buck once again involved herself in the match and tripped “CJ” as he looked to bounce off the ropes! Jenkins stumbled back towards the middle of the ring... right into a Waldorf Salad Toss (Pop-Up Powerbomb)! Dean Waldorf made the cover, and Marv Statler kept Riley McManus busy as ringside so that he couldn't break up the count!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="text-align:left;"><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Following their victory, Haley Buck jumps on the mic on behalf of her clients. She tells the crowd that The Ring Generals have just proved that they are THE premiere tag team in NYCW. The Atlantic Connection's win at 'Carnage In Queens' was nothing but a fluke. Her clients had no chance to prepare, but tonight The Ring Generals had proved that they were 'Kings Of New York'.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Unfortunately for Haley Buck, Doctor O'Haire picked this moment to make his way back down to the ring – this time with his patient Prisoner No. 6 in tow. Doctor O'Haire told Haley Buck that her clients may have proved that they were better than The Atlantic Connection tonight, but they had far from proved they were the premiere team in NYCW. The doctor reminded Buck that his clients, The Boys From Yukon, had held the belts for over a year and were owed their rematch. O'Haire said that tonight his prisoner would be taking the Empire Title away from Bulldozer Brandon Smith, and then next month the </div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>real</em></div><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> premiere team in NYCW would be taking their titles back!</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

At this point, Riley McManus rolled back into the ring and reminded Doctor O'Haire that The Atlantic Connection had been the team to end The Boys From Yukon's year long reign. He also told Haley Buck that a 'premiere' tag team wouldn't constantly need their managers help to win matches. Buck did not react well to this, but Riley continued saying that if any team deserved a shot at The Ring Generals it was The Atlantic Connection. They were the only team to have beaten The Ring Generals in nearly two years, and just like The Boys From Yukon they were owed their rematch! </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Doctor O'Haire piped up that his patients were already confirmed to get their rematch next month, so Riley would have to get in line! Riley replied that he didn't want to replace The Boys From Yukon in next months match, he wanted to make it a Triple Threat! The crowd roared their approval for the idea, but Haley Buck and Doctor O'Haire clearly didn't like the idea.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This was a real knock down brawl between two big Heavyweights. Bulldozer Brandon Smith is a powerful man himself, but even the Bulldozer found himself overran by the violence and sheer power of Prisoner No. 6. The Bulldozer has spent a lot of time during Japan, so has faced a lot of violent strikers in his time and had to draw on all of that experience just to stay in this contest. Prisoner No. 6's new violent streak was paying dividends in that he was dominating proceedings, but it was also earning the inmate repeated reprimands from referee Jez McArthuer. It took Doctor O'Haire to step in and negotiate with the referee to prevent a disqualification after Prisoner No 6 failed to heed the referee's five count after choking Bulldozer Brandon Smith against the bottom rope.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This near disqualification did little to dissuade Prisoner No. 6 from continuing his reckless beatdown of the Empire champion. The inmate threw the Bulldozer into the corner and began choking the champion out once again as he pushed his boot against Brandon Smith's throat. Referee Jez McArthuer began his count again, but Prisoner No. 6 once again ignored the five count. Jez McArthuer tried to pull Prisoner No. 6 off of Bulldozer Brandon Smith, but the inmate simply threw the referee across the ring before continuing his asault. Seeing he ahd lost all control of the contest, Jez McArthuer called for the bell and disqualified the challenger.</div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p><span style="font-family:Tahoma;"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Bulldozer Brandon Smith looked to pass out under the pressure of Prisoner No. 6's boot against his throat, and the inmate used his boot to push the champion out under the bottom rope to the floor outside. Sorry it took a little longer than usual to post the show up this week, things have been incredibly busy with work and my evenings have been taken up with Christmas preparations so I haven't had much time to write this week. Hopefully you enjoyed the show now that it is up!</p><p> </p><p> A much tougher card to predict this month, with no perfect scores and <strong>joshbrady91</strong> winning the first round of predictions with a score of 6. There were a lot of matches that could have gone either way, with most of you predicting Prisoner No.6 to take the Empire Title and everyone expecting The Atlantic Connection to retain the Tag Team Titles. Hopefully over the next few shows it will become clear why I made the quick switch to The Ring Generals.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>jameschaos</strong> - Apologies I haven't messaged about your prize! I haven't forgotten, but time has gotten away from me this week. I'll PM you before the next show is up with details of your prize <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Hope to see everyone back for the next show!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Prediction Results after Round One</strong></p><p> </p><p> 1 point = joshbrady91</p><p> </div></p></div><p></p><p></p>
