Before Balor could finish issuing his challenge, he was interrupted by an unlikely member of the NXT roster...

Rey Mysterio, who was also victorious at WarGames over Samoa Joe, headed to the ring, and walked around Finn Balor...

Rey Mysterio:

“I too had a huge win at WarGames, man... I beat Samoa Joe 1 on 1... Man to man... I had no strong team of winners supporting me... I just went in there, and kicked some ASS!!”

Balor applauded Rey for his achievement, but didn't like the veteran's tone... In the end, he challenged Rey to a match for next week!!

Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio will go 1 on 1, next week... The winner will get one step closer to a NXT Title Match!!

Bark Worse Than His Bite

Backstage, NXT General Manager William Regal was shown ready to talk about an incident from last week, involving Dexter Lumis and Raul Mendoza...

After Lumis beat Mendoza in a competitive match, Lumis crawled over to his opponent and BIT him, hard, on the shoulder...

William Regal:

“I've had a lot to deal with this past week... War Games was a huge success... But I've reviewed the footage, and, while Lumis was out of line, I... I don't really know where to go with it... I can tell you... That the next match will be a 15-man Battle Royale... Lumis and Mendoza are BOTH entrants in the match...”

The Battle Royale will take place, to determine the Number One Contenders for the NXT Tag Team Titles...

The scheduled Number One Contenders Match at War Games was changed due to injury to Angelo Dawkins, and then ruined by the Forgotten Sons...

The winner of this 15-man match will get to fight the Undisputed Era for the NXT Tag Titles, with a partner of their choosing!!

Oney Lorcan, Raul Mendoza, R-Truth, Steve Cutler, Tony Nese, Tyler Breeze and Wesley Blake.

A fast-paced 15-man elimination match. Nese, Kanellis and the tag team known as Technique (Ruas and Bononi) were the first four men eliminated, all at the hands of One Two (Burch and Lorcan) who seemed on a mission to win this match. R-Truth and Fandango fought on the apron next, and were taken out by the three members of the Forgotten Sons. Dexter Lumis soon got rid of his rival Raul Mendoza, only for Mendoza to take instant revenge and pull Lumis over the top rope too!

Tyler Breeze was the odd man out, as the six men involved in a big fight at WarGames stood across the ring from each other. Breeze somehow survived, and watched Danny Burch and Wesley Blake be the next two men out. Steve Cutler and Oney Lorcan soon followed, leaving a final three of Montez Ford, Jaxson Ryker, and Breeze! The big strong Ryker grabbed Breeze and threw him out, as Ford rose behind his rival and tipped him up over the top rope! Somehow, Montez Ford won it!

Just then, Sonya DeVille walked up... Borne and Aliyah have been trying to get her on side ahead of the Women's Royal Rumble Match...

But Sonya has been showing respect for young Tegan Nox... after the two talented women did battle a few weeks ago...

Vanessa Borne:

“Hey Sonya... You're a big fan of that Tegan Nox girl aren't you...?! Well how about we take on Kacy AND Tegan in a tag team match... and YOU can come to the ring, and be in our corner!!”

Aliyah said she wants to make sure she and Borne can trust Sonya ahead of the Rumble... She accepted their offer...

Joe stopped what he was saying, as Johnny Gargano walked past, and Joe wanted a word with him...

Joe began to gave Gargano a hard time for not being anywhere near the NXT Title scene... After Finn Balor and Mysterio declared their interest...

Johnny Gargano:

“Yu know what Joe... I'm not in the mood for this... I beat Bobby Lashley at WarGames... so if you want to challenge me to a match... Bring. It. On!!”

Joe told Gargano to relax... and said that all he wanted to say, was that he'd see him in the Royal Rumble Match!!

However, replacing Miz will be former RAW star Elias, who as we found out earlier, will be debuting back on NXT next week, against Rusev!!

Very competitive match here. Alexander looked a little slower than usual due to his performance inside WarGames, in which he picked up a few scrapes and knocks. Priest capitalised, and beat the snot out of the high-flying fan favourite. In the end, Priest won it with his 'South Of Heaven'.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton was stood with her guest... NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks!!

'The Boss' beat her challenger Natalya at TakeOver WarGames, and Kayla asked Banks what's next for her...

Sasha Banks:

“So they're telling me, that at the Royal Rumble, there will be NO NXT Women's Title Match... Suits me... means I get the night off... But during the Women's Royal Rumble Match... I'll be sat ringside... and taking a seat alongside my good friend Becky Lynch... Two Champions... Two 'Friends'... Sat next to each other... Watching the action!!”

The sarcasm radiated off of Sasha, but Kayla sent us back to the ring for our Main Event...

Non-Title action here, and four of NXT's hottest acts did battle in a tag team match. Lee and Riddle are great friends, but as good as their in-ring chemistry is, they don't have anywhere near the experience as a duo that Fish and O'Reilly do. Lee and Riddle made mistakes in this match, colliding heads when they were both trying to grab the slippery O'Reilly. However, Lee was able to hit a 'Pounce' on O'Reilly outside the ring, and send him clattering into the crowd barrier. In the ring, the impressive Fish was caught with a 'Bro-Mission' by Riddle, and he tapped out!

Right after the match was finished, a still image appeared on the big screen, showing a small puzzle...

If it wasn't already, it's probably fairly obvious who the new tag team coming to NXT is. For those who haven't worked it out, I won't spoil it here, but when they arrive they will completely change the look of the tag team division on Wednesday Nights. After the injury to Angelo Dawkins, a bad injury too, there is no top babyface tag team. Breezango, One Two and Crews and Gulak, are all good, solid teams. But right now, I need someone with more prestige to be fighting The Undisputed Era. Additionally, Fish and O'Reilly may be standouts on the heel side, and there's a big drop off to 'Technique' (Ruas and Bononi) and The Forgotten Sons. So this new team changes things vastly. But they won't be the only new team on NXT. Watch this space to see the identity of both new duos.

Apart from tag teams, NXT have a lot going for them. The Main Event scene, the upper mid carders, and the women's divisions are all very strong. I'll most probably take some singles stars and make some teams to improve things/replace the Street Prophets. Crews and Gulak are just the beginning in that sense. Montez Ford's pick for his new partner may well be the first new team added from current singles stars.
