<p>Recognition Of The Year Section</p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Most Improved Writer Of The Year Award</span></strong>: </p><p>

1. DarK_RaideR</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: DarK_RaideR has consistently improved in his presentation while also consistently producing and presenting a wide variety of diaries. In 2019, he has presented proper puro, whacky comedy, joshi, hardcore, Americana -- many at the same time and without sacrificing any quality.</p><p> </p><p>

2. sportsfanmas</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: I first saw sportsfanmas do a diary with an SMW diary (he may have done some before that, I don't know), but I do know that his MLW diary has consistently gotten better and he has shown significant improvement in presentation.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Best Diary Not To Win DOTM Of The Year Award (Must have been active in 2019 but never won DOTM)</span></strong></p><p>

<a href="http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=543967&page=8" rel="external nofollow">Major League Wrestling - A New Man In Charge</a> by sportsfanmas</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: It didn't win. I thought there were a couple of months it could have so now I'm giving it a little love.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">New Diary Writer Of The Year Award (Never written a diary before 2019</span></strong>)</p><p>

Bigelow Cartwheel</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: I am stretching the award to include December of 2018 -- because I think that is when Bigelow started his first diary, a short lived RTG about Pro Wrestling Anarchy, but I feel like he really burst onto the scene this year with his Oddworld diary. It's been something that is outside of my comfort-zone in wrestling and isn't something I could ever reproduce (which isn't a bad thing). It's been incredibly enjoyable to see his presentation and the intentional carnival-side show presentation.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Outstanding Contribution Of The Year Award</span></strong>: </p><p>

1. Togg</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: Togg runs the DOTM awards pro-bono. He updates the DOTM history book, he creates graphics for people when they ask (including me), he also helps work on mods. He is a no brainer for a nomination.</p><p> </p><p>

2. King Bison</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: Bison created an entire mod in the CVerse that had community-offered workers (the TITAN Factory Mod). In addition, he has produced countless renders for a variety of diaries (I know he has done work for myself, for The Lloyd, for angel etc...</p><p> </p><p>

Comments:</p><p> </p><p>

Most Shocking Push Of The Year Award: Steve Flash in NYCW: The Ultimate Throwback by Charismatic Enigma</p><p>

Comments: I'm used to seeing Steve Flash be used as a gate keeper. A guy there to help get younger guys over by CE took him and gave him a big push late into his career that saw him win the COTT World Title and I did not see that coming.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Worker Of The Year Award</span></strong></strong>:</p><p>

1. Steve Flash as presented in <a href="http://greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=544214&highlight=NYCW" rel="external nofollow">NYCW: The Ultimate Throwback</a> by Charismatic_Enigma</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: In 2016, I've always taken Steve Flash to be a man on the last legs of his career whose best use was staring up at the lights and getting young talent ready. CE took a guy closing in on 50, a guy on the tail-end of his career and made me invested in him once again by pushing him not only to the top of the NYCW with a run as Empire Champion but also the COTT World Heavyweight Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: Masked Patriot has a special place in my heart as a character that just appeals to the rasslin' fan in me. DarK_RaideR managed to build him in 2019 as a bonafide main eventer in PDW. He had more than one run at the top and I loved it!</p><p> </p><p>

Best Heel Character Of The Year Award: Spencer Spade in The Climb</p><p>

<strong>Comments</strong>: I don't like to nominate my own stuff for DOTY, but I felt like Spencer Spade had an incredible run as the top heel in The Climb throught 2019. He had fantastic matches, he had two great runs as North American Champion and he was able to help deliver several A matches and become a key cog in the CWL machine.</p><p> </p><p>

Improved = Dark Raider, I am a fan of humour and Raiders stuff is funny

Not won = NJPW longterm by joshbrady91, I love the diary and it just missed out winning

New = alpha2117, two really entertaining diaries near the end of the year which was reflected in DOTM wins

Outstanding = Historian, Togg already got nommed and the elder statesman of the board does a lot of work

Most Shocking = EL CHUPACABRA! in CTUC BY Dark Raider because I don't think DR realized he was creating a cult hero

Push = Exoticos getting a title and division in WS_X by alpha2117, I know this was meant to be just one person or team but he pushed a whole obscure sub group of wrestling and it's definitely the most obscure group to get pushed.

Championship = Harley Race in the Hitchhiker's GuideHitchhiker's Guide to Wrestlemania by MainOffender, nobody saw that coming

Turn = Hogan in Hitchhiker's Guide to Wrestlemania by MainOffender, Hogan turning much earlier sets up a great alternate history

Worker = Okada in NJPW LONGTERM by joshbrady91, it's Okada and it's a great diary

Face = The Miz in WS_X by alpha2117, he had to run with Miz as champ but he made it work. Shame WWE Never really tried it.

Heel = The Fiend in Stephanie the Princess Diaries by alpha2117, it's hard to make a real world character feel right but also take it in a different direction that feels organic.

Tag = evil Mega Powers in Hitchhiker's Guide to Wrestlemania by MainOffender, let's face it heel Hogan and Savage in the late 80s is just so compelling

Faction = The Family in Stephanie the Princess Diaries by alpha2117, Rowan, Harper, Bo and Rosemary actually getting booked in a way that makes them seem important under the Fiends leadership.

Champion = Okada in NJPW LONGTERM BY JOSHBRADY91, it's Okada and it feels right

Angle = CM Punk returns in Stephanie the Princess Diaries by alpha2117, we may never see it in the real world but the way it was done here felt right.

Match = King's of Wrestling and the Family vs The Shield, Braun and B Team at Survivor Series in Stephanie the Princess Diaries by alpha2117, Bo betrays his team

Show = Survivor Series in Stephanie the Princess Diaries, I am getting kind of repetitive but it was that one match that really made this feel like something I would pop for in real life.

Storyline = KENTA VS OKADA in NJPW LONGTERM by joshbrady91, I want to see it in the real world now based on this.

Rocky Maivia Award = ??? Not sure eat the criteria for this is?

Real world = Stephanie the Princess Diaries by alpha2117, when I was deciding on noms I kept nomming it and realized it and joshbrady91s NJPW are the two I would miss most if they stopped

Cornellverse = Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel, Silas is a horrible man

Writer = this is tough because Bigelow, joshbrady91, Dark Raider, Pipers Pit and Kimberly, Dark Raider,alpha2117, TheLloyd and a ton of other people give me heaps of entertainment. I was going to say alpha2117 but he's only done two diaries and Dark Raider has done a lot of different things over a longer period and I love CTUC so very much. DARK RAIDER

Graphic WWE Three Brands Part II by TheLloyd, it's simple and elegant. Honorable mention to WWE2K20 the Next Chapter whose pics deserve a special Award just in themselves

Best Diary Not To Win DOTM Of The Year Award (Must have been active in 2019 but never won DOTM): Chi-Town Urban Combat by Dark Raider

Most Shocking Signing Of The Year Award: Norse World Order in AWO who says Wrestling isn't high art by Deathzone2

Comments: I'm never shocked by signings - the game by it's nature allows for some weird and wonderful things. Loved seeing the NWO join the greek stuff in that mod.

Most Shocking Push Of The Year Award: KENTA in NJPW Longterm by joshbrady91

Comments: No shock to see KENTA pushed - big shock to see him pushing Okada to the limit multiple times

Most Shocking Championship Win Of The Year Award: Pride in CTUC by Dark Raider

Comments: CTUC was supposed to be a Men's fed but Dark Raider realised that there were a bunch of talented Women and the fed stated to evolve which was one of the most realistic things I've seen where a small feds owners realise they need to adapt and evolve to survive.

Most Shocking Heel/Face Turn Of The Year Award: SANADA in NJPW Longterm by joshbrady91

Comments: Not so much a turn as a change of allegiances (NJPW doesn't really do the face/heel thing). Having SANADA depart LIJ legit shocked me.

Worker Of The Year Award: EL CHUPACABRA! in CTUC by Dark Raider

Comments: He's a joke in a joke fed but it's a darn funny joke.

Best Face Character Of The Year Award: Justice Jolson in TITAN Factory Wrestling: The Dread Army by King Bison

Comments: It was that diary that got me interested in this part of the board. I miss it and it's ridiculous huge meatheads like Jolson.

Best Heel Character Of The Year Award: Silas T Odswald in Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel

Comments: He's a scumbag and he knows it.

Best Tag Team Of The Year Award: The Australian Party People in YEPW: Australias Wacky World of Pro Wrestling by DAVEFAN95

Comments: I thought I'd gives some props to this diary and how he's used some of the more obscure but fun workers.

Best Stable/Faction Of The Year Award: The Sins in CTUC by Dark Raider

Comments: I'm biased but I love how they are being used.

Best Champion/Reign Of The Year Award: Justice Jolson in TITAN Factory Wrestling: The Dread Army by King Bison

Comments: I loved the mix of backstage interaction and shows and Jolson was a huge part of that.

Best Angle Of The Year Award: NWO debuts in AWO Who Says Wrestling isn't high art by Deathzone2

Comments: Love the Rockverse and he put the NWO guys in for this exact purpose and it was great so see it actually happen.

Best Match Of The Year Award: 10 Womens Battle Royale in CTUC by Dark Raider

Comments: It's chaotic and strange and hilarious.

Best Show/Event Of The Year Award: OWC Last House in Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel

Comments: That final reveal was … well it's just great.

Best Storyline/Feud Of The Year Award: CTUC adds women - with suitably shambolic results in Chi-Town Urban Combat by Dark Raider

Comments: Suddenly CTUC is getting 3 star matches but it's now even more subversive and offensive thanks to people like Abominatrix

Rocky Maivia Award: Rick Flair in Diamonds Are Forever by Pipers Pit and Kimberley

Comments: I never got Flair - I just didn't buy his offence, his overselling or his promos but I read this and I get it.

Mod Diary Of The Year Award: Chi-Town Urban Combat by Dark Raider

Comments: It and Oddworld are so perfectly pitched showing the ludicrousness of small indys struggling just to be half decent.

Cornellverse Diary Of The Year Award: TITAN Factory Wrestling: The Dread Army by King Bison

Comments:Auroa nominated Oddworld (It's awful and that's fantastic) which allows me to show love for TITAN here.

Writer Of The Year Award: LeoHunter

Comments: Does a lot of interesting things like King of Fighters

Best Graphic Presentation Of The Year Award: ElliotM

Best Diary Not To Win DOTM Of The Year Award (Must have been active in 2019 but never won DOTM): NYCW The Ultimate Throwback by Charismatic_Enigma

Comments: I've been on and off keeping up with this, but I'm truly surprised it hasn't won DotM not even once.

New Diary Writer Of The Year Award (Never written a diary before 2019)

1. Chisoku

Comments: With Bigelow_Cartwheel already nominated, I'd like to shine a light on Chisoku. He debuted as a diary writer with an interesting SAISHO diary, disappeared and then re-appeared with his ongoing BCG diary, all the while producing some excellent stuff to see and read.

2. alpha2117

Comments: You'd never guess 2019 was their debut year as a writer. Between WS_X and The Princess Diaries, it feels like I'm reading a veteran diary writer already.

Outstanding Contribution Of The Year Award

Comments: With Togg, Historian and King_Bison already nominated, shipshirt gets my vote as another top tier re-renderer that has given a lot to the community.

Most Shocking Section

Most Shocking Signing Of The Year Award: The entire junior heavyweight division in southside_hitmen's BCG Dead Lions do not Roar

Comments: BCG, in my mind, is all about heavyweight brawlers, technicians and strong style wrestlers, so seeing BCG add a junior division and bring in high flyers came as a shock (if not outright sacrilege) to me. Yeah, Chisoku did that too, but SSH was there first.

Most Shocking Push Of The Year Award: The Queen of Queens division in alpha2117's WS_X Welcome to the Pleasuredome

Comments: Trans/Exotico/Genderbending characters are usually either reserved for a single character or the entire company is built around them. Seeing them be part of a company as they were was an unusual and interesting suprise, especially since they were most often combined with good looking cis ladies doing eye candy (sorry, jigglefest) matches and fashion show angles.

Best Heel Character Of The Year Award: Silas Odswald, in The Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel

Comments: Silas is the perfect example of a scumbag indy promoter. He is also the best heel owner character since Mr. McMahon became a thing. And yet he somehow manages to garner sympathy too, thanks to Bigelow_Cartwheel's writing of the diary through the character's perspective.

Best Match Of The Year Award: Frankie Perez vs Extraordinario Jr at BCG Last Warrior: Masayuki Shiga Retirement Show in the BCG Junior Heavyweight Championship Tournament Quarterfinals in southside_hitmen's BCG Dead Lions do not Roar.

Comments: I usually struggle nominating specific matches or shows, but this is the only one that immediately comes to mind when I think of one match that stuck with me from 2019. Two workers I love but don't often get to use as they're signed by bigger promotions, a solid mix of strong style and high flying lucha, good psychology, momentum swings and several false finishes that almost got me

Best Show/Event Of The Year Award: Pending

Comments:

Best Storyline/Feud Of The Year Award: Silas Odswald and Lucas Danger in The Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel

Comments: They say the best stuff in wrestling is based on reality and this was a great example, a feud built around Odswald being a scumbag owner/dealer and Danger being a hopeless spot junkie. It became better when Odswald decided to stop selling and Danger became loyal, then the whole "who stomped on the apple pie" thing turned things to 11.

Rocky Maivia Award: "The Butcher" Alexander Vasquez, in The Climb by Historian

Comments: I don't legitimately hate any characters (besides maybe Byron, Jeff Nova and daddy Eisen) but Vasquez had a true Rocky Maivia journey. He debuted as a generic respawn or game-created rookie with zero character and got nowhere. Historian took him out of the spotlight, sent him off to developmental and re-debuted him as a heel with an interesting angle on his backstory that finally infused the much needed life and colour into him.

Diary Section

Mod Diary Of The Year Award: AWO Who says wrestling isn't high art? by DeathZone2

Comments: Rockverse, LondonVerse and Thunderverse are my mods of choice and I haven't seen many diaries using these. My CTUC is already nominated (thanks) so I'll put up this AWO one. All attempts so far portrayed AWO as a parody with a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor, but seeing it presented super serious really makes me feel the struggle of its workers trying to make it happen and feel like legit art.

Cornellverse Diary Of The Year Award: NotBPW A Game of Stones...and DeColts, by The_Lloyd

Comments: Historian's The Climb and Lloyd's NotBPW diary dominated 2018 and the former swept the DotY awards, then they both went on in 2019 and stopped. Since the Climb did so earlier and got last year's awards, I feel Game of Stones deserves the nomination here.

Writer Of The Year Award: Historian

Comments: I enjoy Bigelow_Carthwheel and alpha2117's writing, but a large part of that has to do with them running silly feds they're writing in a silly manner. Historian has been consistently putting out quality writings, whether it's The Climb, Redemption of Texas Pete, Jake Sawyer in FCW or our joint WWA and SCCW diaries. His backstage segments especially are so gritty, real and emotional, they get me right in the feels, everytime.

Best Graphic Presentation Of The Year Award: WEXXV - With Fire and Blood, by FINisher

Comments: With Lloyd's NotBPW and southside_hitmen's BCG diaries already nominated, I'm using my vote to draw some attention towards this diary that was a true shooting star, bright and short-lived. The frames gave a nice feel, the portraits over company background logos too, the videos were well-picked and not overused and the pacing/formatting of the writing was perfect for a hardcore, spot-based company like WEXXV.
