TCW Discussion Thread

I think Freddy Huggins is viable as a top level face. He’s a career loyalist to TCW and as far as I know it would be his first babyface run. My most recent ideas were to use his sister as a catalyst for his turn. Have her get involved with one of the top heels and either turn on her brother, or have him go face trying to free her.

I definitely had the same thought regarding Freddy, as you can see playing out in my dynasty. TCW is so heel heavy, I found him a good candidate in the upper card for a face turn.

<p>Second time playing as TCW (Previous 2/3 year save became pretty wild with own broadcaster etc), and got to say they have drawn me into the game so much. My 2016 experience was limited to making my own workers and companies, and exclusively in the UK region, so 2020 has been my first real detailed exploration of what already exists in the C-Verse outside the 2016 UK indies. (Gauge was available there in 16 and looking him up is what brought me to TCW).</p><p> </p><p>

Trying to take a more streamlined approach to this save, slower and more realistic decisions, though skewed to my style preferences. Player character is Ross Henry who has bought out the company to save and rebuild it, so excuse for me to change style and focus of company in-game. Headed for a wrestling nerd nirvana product and really wanting to develop a strong tag team division. </p><p> </p><p>

Short term I've just had Hawkins beat Andrews at Malice for the World title, story reason for bringing it forward that TCW were on the verge of closure so this was billed as the last ever event. Destiny roll (think I'm using that term correctly) gave me great chemistry between Hawkins and Andrews, so the match hit high 80s rating. PPV closed with the two acting shocked as Ross Henry comes out and announces hes bought TCW - in my head it was this epic moment with him saying "see you next tuesday" and winking to the camera, but game decided to hinder it (if only slightly) with his gimmick getting an awful rating.</p><p> </p><p>

Thrust Gauge into the Chord/Bach storyline after dispatching of Benny quickly, with Gauge and Chord aligning. Bach won the TV title at Malice in a triple threat by pinning Chord to cause a slight tension between the new team, but that's the first micro-seed in what will be a split between them much, much further down the line. </p><p> </p><p>

King Of Kings has been swapped with Battleground to go on in March, I personally can't abide by the idea of six months of waiting for the blow up match. To me it devalues every PPV between the tournament win and Total Mayhem, if I were a fan of the show I'd consider it a forgone conclusion that the champ was retaining from November up until Mayhem, so why would I waste time and money investing in forgone conclusion PPVs between now and then? In game story of course being that Henry changes it.</p><p> </p><p>

That leads to my current mid-term plans of having Bach win in the tournament finals as the end to the Chord feud (beating Greg in the semis). Not typically a fan of TV titles so the plan was to have him vacate the title post-win and quietly retire it before bringing back the International championship. But having read this forum I've seen a brilliant post about having the TV Title champ try to go 52 in 52 defending the title every week for a year, so I may bring it back with those intentions as a way of getting lower tier talent over. </p><p> </p><p>

This will lead to a Bach/Hawkins/Andrews Total Mayhem main event, though given Bach is declining and Andrews/Hawkins are so good one on one, I'm not as confident in that idea anymore. Plan is for Hawkins to retain, that way Bach gets the moment in the sun via King Of Kings and TM main event, without ever relying on him to carry us for an extended period while progressively getting worse. </p><p> </p><p>

Chord and Gauge will become a tag team and win the tag titles at Total Mayhem to go on an epic run with the straps. I think they're written to be a team together given the history of their fathers, until they can go on main event solos runs. Funnily enough I'd given them the team name of The Heritage, which someone else has already done! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Plan is to have Chord win the big one at Total Mayhem 25 for the first time given Rip's history, as guys on here have pointed out.</p><p> </p><p>

This way I can get those tag titles knocking around the top of the card, maybe even a couple of main event PPV matches if given the right opponents, while using the time to boost a respectable tag division beneath them. I've already signed The Ring Generals and The Night Terrors, just waiting for The American Cobras (who got me into CVerse tag team wrestling) to drop the COTT titles before pouncing on them. </p><p> </p><p>

I've got plans to sign Youngman as an heir to the Sinner Society, him and Peak made a good pairing (Peak as manager) in my original save so keen to recreate that. Beaumont was convinced to work in US and I've now got him on a developmental at MAW - thanks to various posts in this thread suggesting him. (Slightly concerned about the potential growth rate for guys there as MAW only run monthly events, but I'm reluctant to go down child co and/or broadcaster route as its just too easy/gamey for my liking.)</p><p> </p><p>

Anyway, TL;DR: I'm playing a save with TCW <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Awesome, let me know how it works out for you. Glad you liked it. And wow, 10 years?! That's dedication. What's the landscape like that far in?

its fun, I just keep setting goals for myself. if I want someone to get the belt and I do it, I just move on to another person.

People are now all over the place, I love how different the game world looks from when I started

Who's been your biggest success story over the game then?

So I decided to bite the bullet and finally play a company with a weekly TV show, and I picked TCW. Best company I've played with in the C-Verse, by far.

Jay Chord is the best worker I've ever seen in game. He's in the middle of a year-long title reign in my save and is regularly getting 99s in matches against Stars and Well Knowns.

Aaron Andrews and Wolf Hawkins are also two of the best workers I've ever used, in the eventual sequel to TEW2020, I'd be surprised if TCW is out of business unless they decide to have them get poached by SWF or USPW.

Greg Gauge and Mighty Mo are both also really good. I've used Greg in multiple of my Japan saves, but Mo was a surprise. Thought he'd be something like Gargantuan in BHOTWG, was wrong.

I ended up signing Tsuneyo Yanagimoto and Frankie Perez from indie companies, and I stole Mikey Lau, Donte Dunn, Matthew Keith, Cameron Vessey, Casey Valentine, and Gino Montero from other companies. The Cali Dragons, C-V-2, and Gauge Brothers are really good at rebuilding TCW's weak tag division at the start of the game, and my makeshift team of Dunn and Tsuneyo, who serve as Chord's lackeys, also got a good reign in.

My plans are to steal back the Cornells from 21CW, and to eventually have Tsuneyo turn on Chord and get a reign with the world title, cause why not. After that, I plan on getting the title on Gino and letting him and Chord carry the top of the company for what I hope will be a long-term save. Maybe give the Gauges and Edward a reign in-between all of that just because.

Also ended up starting a developmental company, don't know if I will end up pushing anyone major, but if Moriarty Schnell who I stole from RIPW, or James Diaz, end up developing into good workers they might end up getting reigns far into the future.

Yeah I'm now officially five years into my TCW game. I'm still playing the first save I've had from the demo. And yes, Chord is incredible and you can definitely argue that he's the best wrestler in the game. He's a guarantee 90 if the matches goes longer than 10 minutes.

Styx and Hush and Crimson Ghost

I'm a fan of Hush, think his throat-targetting gimmick makes him quite unique. Havent experienced using the other two but their default pics (let alone the awesome renders people have made) have always intrigued me. And I always bid for KC Glenn when his contracts up so might give Ghost a go this time too!

I managed to steal Nicky Champion and Steve Frehley from USPW.

I am in October 2020 and so far Wolf Hawkins has been an amazing workers for me.

He just lost the title to Hollywood Brett Star but for sure he will return with the title around his waist in short time.

Gregg Gauge is amazing. He is over that it’s difficult to keep him away from the title picture any longer. I hired as well his twin brother Matt. For the time being they hold the world tag team championship. Sadly they have bad chemistry as opponents.

I was hoping to build a nice and long feud between them for the world title at one point. :(

I just started a new TCW save after being away from the game for almost 8 months.

I think my Tag division went from being lackluster to overcrowded.

Before I found some random chemistry I hired

American Cobras

the Night terrors.

Then

Marc Speed and Matt Hocking had great chemistry (I had no plans so win)

One Man Army and Human Arsenal had great chemistry (Them having chemistry worked for a plan I was forming I just didn't want them to have negative chemistry.)

Jeremie Courtney and Elliot Thomas had great chemistry(I always struggle to figure out what to do with them so that's a win.)

you throw those five teams on top of

The Elite

Benny and the Fox

Devin Fortune

The Behemoths

Might Meat

Now I have more teams than I expected lol opps. I might break up Mighty Meat down the road to push Moe

side note

I also rolled a Sammy Bach no decline best save ever so far.

Just finished the August PPV Hotter than Hell.

Brief summary of the save so far follows:

Ace beat Wolf at Total Mayhem to retain. After the match, The Syndicate turned on Wolf, with Jay Chord taking over as its new leader. Renamed to Succession, Chord says that Wolf was clinging onto the past, whereas Jay is the future. Jay and Wolf feuded for a bit after Total Mayhem until Wolf was kayfabe injured by Succession post-match after a tainted Chord win. Wolf has been off TV since, but is set to make a big return and resume his feud with Chord.

The feud will be for the top belt, as Chord just beat Ace at Hotter than Hell following interference from Ernest Youngman, who has been a revelation this save. The attack followed Ace "putting Ernest off his game" ahead of his umpteenth TV title defence, which he lost to Sammy Bach. After helping Chord win the strap, he also brutalised Chris Flynn to confirm he was joining Succession - confirming the teases that Flynn would be ejected from the faction. Flynn has now turned face and has a 'Great' Man on a Mission gimmick, as he wants revenge on Succession for his treatment.

Other big successes have included Greg Gauge, Freddy Huggins, and Mighty Mo - all of whom are now Major Stars with 85-90 pop in the US. Huggins particularly impressed me in his first feud with Bach and Taylor in which he was initially just meant to be a third wheel - he impressed so much he ended up winning the whole thing.

My biggest focus now is building up my mid-card, as a lot of the guys I had envisioned building up have fallen somewhat to the wayside due to the number of big stars I've had to incorporate into my TV. This is particularly important in my Cruiserweight division, as there is a big gap between my two big stars - Zimmy and Mainstream - and those below them.

Also, I asked Fro Sure to put some more weight on, and not only did he oblige - he went from Skinny to Muscular! He now has 99 SQ and alongside his Fantastic in-ring potential destiny role, I may need to push him further than the popular mid-carder I had initially envisioned.

I added The American Cobras to my tag team division and they're recognizable, but are in line for a bigger push moving forward. The New Wave was re-assembled, and The Elite continue to be a solid if unspectacular member in the division.

The Behemoths have been kept away from TV after losing the straps to The New Wave, and elsewhere I have a number of relatively weak tag teams who are mostly acting as fodder at this point. Pushing a couple of them into contention is another focus moving forward.

<p>I am in January 2021.</p><p>

I created my own inter commercial broadcast: at the moment I have veg big coverage in USA and Canada and Medium in Mexico.</p><p>

Once I will hit International, I’ll invest in other areas like Europe and Japan.</p><p>

Freddy Huggings is set to win the title against Hollywood Brett Star and having him in the main event of Total Mayhem. </p><p>

In the mean time Jay Chord after winning the King of Kings Tournament is set to challenge and eventually win his first title in the biggest event.</p><p>

I am not sure if going for a Three way or to build an epic Chord vs Nicky Champion...</p><p>

Also Huggings is doing better than I expected and I want him to have a run with the title for his efforts.</p>

So I'm firing up a Default TCW save with the Wrestling Nerd Nirvana product and I want to do a hoss/monster tournament "creatively' called King of the Monsters.

I will probably start it at zero prestige and at floating and let the performances build it up.

Anyways, the reason for my post.

Which Heavyweight or heavier workers are worth signing? I'm not opposed to using the editor to get someone as this is just a for fun save. I'm not going to have the tournament for a few months in game time, so I'll probably throw whoever down in MAW to increase their skills in the mean time.

<p>From what I can tell the only way is to create your own broadcaster which seems silly.</p><p> </p><p>

I feel like the game should make it possible for you to sign with broadcasters in other countries if they're significantly lower than your size - eg a Big company should be able to sign with a Very Small/Small broadcaster even if they have no pop in that country.</p><p> </p><p>

You could balance it by making the company have to get a lower cut / pay the broadcaster etc.</p>

This may or may not be a thing, but I've had a focus on growing the Japanese market as ACPW and now CWA, and I've found that hiring workers who are either from Japan, or have high pop in Japan can have the effect of helping your companies pop in those regions. I also bite the bullet and run shows in Japan, despite going from 5-10,000 attendance to under 100 (or 300 if I offer free tickets). Just the price of doing business and growing the market.</p><p> up.</p><p> </p><p> Starting out Wrestleworld really helped me out...and while it would be a step 'down' for you in US/CAN, it would help you grow in the other regions if that's what you want to do...and you can just run more shows in US/CAN?</p><p> </p><p> I just set up my own internet subscription broadcaster with a major focus on Canada and Japan, and med in US/MEX/UK...and I'm at 170000 fans for my weekly show while I keep my PPV's off my broadcaster and only currently on Canadian PPV...and they do about 150000 buys right now. Got a long road ahead as CWA basically isolated itself to just Canada up until I took over in 2029, so pop everyone else outside of Canada is/was tiny. I've gotten Japan up to 23-20 and US to 26 with Great Lakes and Northwest 34 and I've only run 2 shows in Japan and none in the US.</p>
