A New York State of Mind: The Story of Jack Bruce

Recommended Posts

The Infernal Council debut felt like the most important thing on the show. It was done well and the idea of them taking new identities via the word of the Seven Princes. I'm curious if one or more of the Princes will ever make an appearance :3. Also, I loved that pic of the new Mr. Q, it looks so cool.

It was interesting to pick a non-SPW talent to win the belt and set up a feud for them and DWN. I wonder if he'll actually pick up the title.

One thing I recommend is doing more angles to give the guys more personality, one or two promos a show would be quite useful. Just like it's helped make Infernal Council more interesting it'd do that for others on the roster as well.

Thanks for the feedback! The Mr. Q picture is from King Bison, as is the Justice Jolson/Injustice pic. Quentin Queen's original render makes him look like the typical shaggy-haired pretty boy, so I wanted to find something the exact opposite for his alter ego. It can still definitely be him if he were to remove the face point and grow back the hair on the sides of his head. Jolson's picture is an alt that The Lloyd made for me by request, his facepaint was originally American flag-styled.

I figured an SPW guy winning it would be too predictable. I kayfabe'd it in my head by saying "well, Sam Keith is letting us put the match on our show, it'd be overkill if he let us win the belt too." Plus, putting one of my guys into a storyline with the belt gives me a good reason to bring it back, and gives one of my undercard workers something to do.

I actually do plan on doing more promos and angles! With this new formatting, it makes writing them easier and more fun. And whenever I can start broadcasting shows, I'll start doing actual backstage stuff, since I couldn't (realistically) do those.

Post-Show Thoughts

Upstate Uprising was the most important event SPW has had yet.

So much good from one show that it’s hard to explain how impactful it was. To start, we debuted our first faction, a cult stable named The Infernal Council. It’s from that story I read years ago about the fall of man. What a great poem that was. The faction itself is off the ground running already. The idea for an evil stable was Mauler’s idea, because he wanted to separate himself from the previous incarnations of the mask. In SPW, Masked Mauler VII no longer exists, just the Dark Mauler. Good for him, he’s 23 years old and wants to stick out. This is a fantastic way for him to do so. After deciding on the evil stable, we struggled for a few shows to really come up with a sticking point. I was in the library with some of my nieces and nephews and I saw this story on the shelf, and it brought me back to the long road trips where I read the whole damn thing in like two days. It’s hundreds of years old, so I totally read a modern version of it. Still excellent though. It makes for an awesome wrestling storyline. Religious concepts in wrestling is nothing new and satanic stables have been around for decades, and that’s for a reason. Religious ideologies deal a lot with good vs. evil, and you know what else has good vs. evil as a core element? Professional wrestling. It clicked in my head as I’m standing there in the library.

Logan Diaz became our second ever champion, defeating Ernie in the main event. It was a bit better than their last match believe it or not. With the series between them tied 1 and 1, I definitely see a rematch coming very soon.

The first COTT North American champion was crowned, and it was a hectic match. Definitely not traditional. Six way matches are about as far from traditional as it gets. Like I said before, choosing a winner was hell, but eventually we compromised. A post match angle with one of my guys means that the belt will be coming back soon.

Now for the aftermath. I’m writing this one week after the show. In that week, I received an email from WrestleWorld. The streaming service wants SPW on it, adding us to a list of the most prestigious independent wrestling companies in North America. I was ecstatic. We’ve been trying to get on it for the last four months but I guess we weren’t considered a hot commodity at the time. Logan and Ernie’s matches really turned some heads!

The first event that will be broadcasted live on WrestleWorld will be the first ever King of the Mountain show. It’s a great introduction to the wider audience for sure! Speaking of the tournament, I suppose I should mention who the eight men are!

  • Ben Williams

  • Dead Man Walken

  • Dominic DeGraff

  • Ernest Youngman

  • Injustice

  • James Diaz

  • Philippe LaGrenier

  • Riley McManus

It was hard to pick just eight. I had to leave out the champs, and the #1 contenders for the tag belts. Still, some people are getting snubbed and unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about that. We’re going to have a great show this month, that’s for sure.

I'm a fan of The Infernal Council already. And holy shit, these main events between Ernest and Logan are amazing. Makes it really, REALLY hard to bet against Ernest winning the King of the Mountain tournament, that's for sure. On the other hand, Ernest doesn't necessarily need this win to be relevant in the main event scene... Tough call. I'm going with the upset and bet on Riley McManus to win it all. He's good enough to pull some very decent ratings.

Despite this, he was never signed by the company for whatever reason. Queen has remained hush on the reasoning behind TCW not offering him a contract, while TCW has also never commented on it. The biggest rumor is that he was a bit insecure and thin-skinned, leading to some paranoia overshadowing his in-ring ability.</p><p> </p><p> Nevertheless, Queen has developed a reputation on the independent scene as a very solid worker. With an improving personality, he is gaining more and more work as time goes on. SPW is his first name promotion that he has been signed to thus far in his career. His SPW career began when he won a ‘Winners Receive Contracts’ tag team match with fellow indie star Davis Wayne Newton. Although both were signed, Newton proved to have the more immediate impact, being SPW’s representative in the inaugural COTT North American Heavyweight Championship match at Upstate Uprising two weeks ago. That role has ended up being a major talking point in the wrestling world over the last two weeks. </p><p> </p><p> Gone was the name Quentin Queen, in was the name Mr. Q. The tag team of The Masked Mauler VII and Justice Jolson was turning heads for months, with no one quite sure of where the dark and mysterious angle was headed. At Upstate Uprising, it was revealed that the storyline was a modern wrestling version of the classic John Milton epic poem, Paradise Lost. The story revolves around Satan and his band of demons in a version of Hell that was unexplored at the time it was published in 1667. Yes, four hundred and fifty years ago! The band of demons in the story was called The Stygian Council, otherwise known as The Infernal Council. </p><p> </p><p> Q’s involvement in the group was unveiled when he attacked the legend Jimmy Cox from behind after Cox and partner Chip Martin won a tag team match against Mauler and Jolson (now going by The Dark Mauler and Injustice). The match ended when Injustice refused to stop pummeling Martin in the corner. The end result was clearly part of The Infernal Council’s plan all along, which was to inflict as much pain on their opponents as possible.</p><p> </p><p> With questions about the group now answered, new questions have risen. But that’s all part of the fun of it. With so many directions the group can go, it remains to be seen how it will all play out. SPW King of the Mountain 2020

Before the Show...

g20vypR.jpg

Of all the crazy pre-show stuff that has happened to me in SPW so far, tonight’s fiasco takes the cake.

After decades of wrestling across the world, I’ve seen people come to shows messed up. Depending on who it was, and what the plans were for that person, sometimes they got sent home. Now that I run my own company, that s*** doesn’t fly with me. If you show up wasted, you go home, simple as that. Tonight, Rav, the Samoan Machine, showed up high on painkillers. Stumbling around, it’s a miracle he didn’t crash on the way to Syracuse.

I knew right away he was off. I told him to sit in the locker room while I call an Uber for him. I was angry as all hell that he had the gall to do this. After I set the record straight with his partner Rhino a few months ago, he decides to pull this? Thank god I took the titles off of them.

I haven’t made a decision on his future with us yet. He was booked for a promo tonight, a nice backstage interview. Our first backstage interview actually, since we are on WrestleWorld for the first time tonight. I would never give someone airtime in the condition he was in. It would ruin SPW right away.

On the other hand, it’s clear that he has an issue, and firing him may lead down an even darker path. It’s a catch-22 for me. But for now, I sent him to a hotel and told him I’d call him in a week or so regarding his employment with us.

With the negatives out of the way, it was time to think more positively, especially with our first broadcasted show about to begin. Davis Wayne Newton livened up the dampened mood with some sort of game that had the locker room laughing. Good, they needed something like that. A lot of young guys back there don’t know how to handle a situation like the one Samoan Machine put us in tonight, so kudos to the veteran for keeping everyone’s spirits up.

King of the Mountain Quarterfinal Match

8OnMYUi.jpg VS. B30hHAe.jpg

Dominic DeGraff vs. Riley McManus

The first match of the tournament was a good one, with Riley McManus picking up the victory over the younger DeGraff. McManus’s performance was standout, of course. DeGraff wasn’t bad either, but McManus is a star. McManus picked up the win with a Slingshot Suplex.

Winner: Riley McManus

King of the Mountain Quarterfinal Match

9iCgLdc.jpg VS. PlBXDtJ.jpg

Ben Williams vs. Injustice

The first match for an Infernal Council since the group was formally introduced. This was mostly a squash, with Injustice dominating the majority of the six minutes. The Dark Mauler was ringside for the match, giving Injustice directions the entire time. The match was a bit clumsy, with the two of them having poor chemistry together, which is surprising since Ben Williams entire appeal is that he sells his arse off. It was mostly on Injustice though, as he is still very inexperienced and still learning.

Winner: Injustice

Rating: 26

tqUmIEM.jpg

EIq467s.jpg

After the ring was cleared, Davis Wayne Newton came to the ring with a microphone. He talked about the six way COTT North American Championship match last month at Upstate Uprising. He says he should have been the winner of that match, but Tigre de Salvaje Jr. stole the pinfall from him. After 20 minutes of dominating the match (or so he claims), the win was swept out from underneath his feet. All of his work was swept under the rug and Tigre de Salvaje Jr. was given all the credit, which was undeserved. Newton states that he has talked to Jack Bruce and Sam Keith, and all parties agreed to make a match for next month’s show, The Final Resolution. Tigre de Salvaje Jr. and the COTT North American Championship will return to Summit Pro Wrestling to face off against the man who thinks he should have won, Davis Wayne Newton!

King of the Mountain Quarterfinal Match

m7oahXM.jpg VS. sjdjKm2.jpg

Ernest Youngman vs. Dead Man Walken

What a freaking match. Well, it wasn’t crazy good, but it exceeded expectations by far! Youngman CARRIED Dead Man Walken here. It was a solid 11 minutes between two heels. Both men played the aggressor for portions of the match, with no one playing the face. Youngman sold hard for the rookie, who took advantage of that by playing to the crowd. Eventually, Youngman had to win, so he took out Walken with The Hit and got the clean win.

Winner: Ernest Youngman

Rating: 50

tqUmIEM.jpg

OnYe3c4.jpgZzVxIny.jpg

Before the final quarterfinal match took place, Zippy Deverell and Philippe LaGrenier, The CANtucky Express, came to the ring. Zippy took to the microphone to hype up his buddy and tag team partner, vowing that LaGrenier will take down the Son of the Monster James Diaz. After he takes down the beast, he will plow through The Assassin Ernest Youngman and then win it all against his opponent in the finals, whoever that may be.

Zippy did a fantastic job playing to the crowd, as he improvised more than once when they started chanting at him. He is a great heel whose mic skills will go a long way for us, and for himself in the future.

The promo ended when LaGrenier got on the microphone and said that he will defeat James Diaz, take his brother Logan’s new championship, and hell, maybe even beat James’ daddy Raymond as well. This brought the Son of the Monster down to ringside.

James Diaz vs. Philippe LaGrenier

Philippe LaGrenier’s hopes and dreams came to an early conclusion here, as Diaz pummeled him throughout the majority of the 11 minutes. Despite that, there were a few hope spots for the smaller LaGrenier, as his agility allowed him to duck and avoid some moves by the much bigger Diaz. Eventually, after a powerslam and brainbuster, James Diaz brought LaGrenier to his feet, held his hair, and gave him a nasty looking Asian Thumb Spike for the pinfall victory

Winner: James Diaz

King of the Mountain Semifinal Match

B30hHAe.jpg VS. PlBXDtJ.jpg

Riley McManus vs. Injustice

The first of two semifinal matches of the KOTM tournament was a decent one. With The Dark Mauler still ringside, McManus fought what was essentially a handicap match. Constant distractions and borderline interference caused him to be off his game quite a bit, which Injustice took advantage of over and over again. The finish came when McManus was jawjacking with Mauler on the apron, which proved to be a setup as McManus moved out of the way just as Injustice was about to hit him in the back, which caused the two Infernal Council members to collide! Mauler fell to the floor, and Injustice froze for a second, allowing McManus to roll him up with a schoolboy for the win!

Winner: Riley McManus

Rating: 36

We cut backstage, where The Diaz Family are talking backstage about their strategy. James’ next match is with Ernest Youngman, former SPW Champion and the man Logan took the strap from last month. Logan talked about how he knew Youngman’s offense very well, and wanted to give some pointers to his younger cousin. Logan told him to stay off the mat and on his feet, because if he goes down, Ernie would outwrestle him and wear down his body.

Logan said that even though the winner will earn an SPW Championship match, he is rooting for his family to win. That is a bridge they will cross when they get to it, he stated.

King of the Mountain Semifinal Match

m7oahXM.jpg VS. XgLidNy.jpg

Ernest Youngman vs. James Diaz

This was another good match put together by Ernest Youngman. His inring abilities are shining bright in this tournament. Logan was ringside in support of his cousin, and that really upset the former champion. Ernie and Logan had a staredown before the match, and after the bell rang, quickly took down James with a drop toe hold so he could lean on the ropes and bicker with Logan some more. The match had some good psychology to it for sure, with James trying his hardest to stay off the ground. Ernie was constantly using underhanded tactics to try to keep him down. Hard punches, reaching around and through the ropes to grab his legs, and even a low blow behind the referee’s back. The finish came when James Diaz went for an Asian Thumb Spike, but Youngman reversed it by ducking and kicking out his legs. With Diaz on his knees, Youngman bounced off the ropes to hit a Shining Wizard, but Diaz lept up and hit a stiff lariat. He hoisted up the limp body of Ernie and hit an Asian Thumb Spike for the pinfall! A huge upset by the rookie!

Winner: James Diaz

SPW Tag Team Championship Match (1st Defense)

D2FR9FM.jpgRXsfVIt.jpg VS. moNHVEf.jpgnzz0LhE.jpg

The Casey Brothers © vs. Jimmy Cox & Chip Martin

The SPW Tag Team champions took on the veteran/young boy duo of Jimmy Cox and Chip Martin here. Chip Martin was paranoid as hell while walking down to the ring, causing Cox to have to pull him in. It’s clear that the Infernal Council had gotten to him. The match was rather decent, with Cox being the one to hold the psychology together, even at his old age. The champions played the heels here, despite being babyfaces. They put the heat on Martin for quite awhile before Cox came in for the hot tag to clear house. After he was taken down, he tagged in Martin who hit a few dropkicks and knee strikes to swing momentum back in their favor. As he put Chuck on the top rope for a superplex, a voice played over the PA system. “Chip. Chip. Chip.” very softly, over and over. The distraction was enough for Chuck to punch Martin, causing him to fall off the second rope onto his back. Chuck took advantage of his position by hitting a gnarly elbow drop. Tully held off Cox so Chuck could get the pinfall victory to make defense number one of the SPW Tag Team Championships.

While the champions celebrated, lights flickered and the logo we saw last month started to flash on the screen...

King of the Mountain Final

B30hHAe.jpg VS. XgLidNy.jpg

Riley McManus vs. James Diaz

The finals of the first ever King of the Mountain tournament was a test of each man’s stamina. The third match of the night for both men, their fatigue was evident by their slow trots to the ring before the match. Because of this, the match was rather slow-paced. They shook hands before the match to signify that they are both babyfaces. There was no clear crowd favorite here, as both men had overcome odds to reach the finals in the first place. A lot of brawling, some walking and punching, and a slam here and there. Diaz is a bit bigger than McManus, but not by too much. James Diaz went for an Asian Thumb Spike, which he used to win the first two matches, but Riley limboed his way out of it, and after a kick to the back of the head, he was able to get the big man up for a Slingshot Suplex for the 1-2-3!

Riley McManus is the first ever King of the Mountain!

Great job all. I'll be sending out some PMs soon to those who have been following along for awhile and predicting very well.

I'll have the post-show and predictions up within the next two days I think, with some storylines continuing and more starting. It's been a ton of fun writing these up and exploring the characters. More angles will be coming for sure since we have WrestleWorld as well!

I knew Riley could do it! Definitely didn't expect James to make it to the finals, though, I would've bet house and wife on Youngman to beat the crap out of him.

Really good show, Dalton. This is all coming together, and the addition of a few more angles definitely doesn't hurt!

August 2020 Post Show Thoughts & Prediction Key

Post-Show Thoughts

g20vypR.jpg

Our first show on WrestleWorld delivered in spades for us.

Booking and executing a one-night tournament is always difficult. For the sake of the wrestlers’ bodies and the fans’ attention spans, it’s foolish to have any more eight men in the tourney. For us, eight was perfect. Unlike some others where the stories are self-contained within the tournament, we were able to progress our storylines naturally and effectively. Here is a quick rundown of our stories, something that I have been proud of:

• The world title situation regarding Logan Diaz and Ernest Youngman. Logan beat Ernie to tie up their series 1-1, meaning that their rubber match will be at our next show. Winner will go on to face King of the Mountain winner Riley McManus.

• Speaking of McManus, he had to go through Dominic DeGraff, Injustice, and James Diaz in one night. Injustice’s cornerman The Dark Mauler caused constant distractions, while James is obviously the brother of the current champion. Will either of these matter in the long run?

• The Infernal Council is my personal favorite. I came home one day to find my wife in bed reading Paradise Lost, which brought me back to years ago when I read the same copy on a long ride between cities, in Texas I believe. The story is remarkable, especially given its age. It clicked in my head that it could totally be modernized for pro wrestling. I took the two men who I had already given a dark gimmick to and modified it a bit.

• Davis Wayne Newton wants a rematch for the COTT North American title after he claims he should’ve won, if not for Tigre de Salvaje Jr. throwing him out of the ring and stealing the victory. A nice easy story that brings an alliance title match to SPW.

That’s not including the storylines that have already concluded, like Jimmy Cox and Ernie, the initial tag team tournament, Dead Man Walken turning on Keith Vegas, and some more smaller ones.

Enough of the victory lap though. Not everything is peachy keen. Bringing in Samoan Destruction Inc. and crowning them the inaugural champs has not been too pretty. Rhino pissed everyone off to the point where I needed to fire him. His partner Samoan Machine, Bali, hasn’t been better either. Apparently Rhino was the one keeping him in line, because the show after I fired him, Bali was popping pills before the show and I had to send him home, a first for me. On the bright side, that’s basically my only complaint about the talent.

It’s time to look ahead to our next show. The Final Resolution will be taking place in Rochester the last week of September. It’s host to two title matches and some more interesting matchups.

Here’s the lineup with descriptions that I plan on sending to TotalExtremeWrestling.com:

Last Man Standing Match for the SPW Championship: Logan Diaz © vs. Ernest Youngman

After Youngman cheated to retain the title against “Glorious” Logan Diaz, SPW owner Jack Bruce booked a rematch between the two, in which Diaz would come out on top. Now with the final match in the trilogy upon us, the rules are done away with in favor of a Last Man Standing stipulation. Youngman has proven that he is willing to bend the rules while his opponent stays true, but without these restrictions, who will come out on top?

COTT North American Championship Match: Tigre de Salvaje Jr. © vs. Davis Wayne Newton

Newton claims that Salvaje Jr. stole the deciding pinfall from him in the inaugural COTT North American Championship match. The Confederation of the Territories apparently agree with him at least to a certain degree, as a match is now on the card at The Final Resolution. Newton hopes to prove that Salvaje Jr’s win was a fluke and undeserved.

Singles Match: Ben Williams vs. The Dark Mauler

The Infernal Council is the talk of SPW. With no clear goal for the collective, their actions are unpredictable. Journeyman Ben Williams hopes to put an early end to the group by facing off against the leader, The Dark Mauler. With the Infernal Council presumably at ringside, it appears that Williams has more than an uphill battle ahead of himself.

Singles Match: James Diaz vs. Zippy Deverell

In his first match since his loss in the finals of the King of the Mountain tournament, James Diaz hopes to shake off the disappointing finish in a match against the ‘tucky’ of The CANtucky Express, Zippy Deverell. Zippy hopes to gain momentum as well, coming in as 1-3 in SPW thus far. This is his first singles match as well.

Tag Team Nontitle Match: The Casey Brothers vs. Dead Man Walken & Dominic DeGraff

Losses for both Walken and DeGraff in the opening round of the King of the Mountain tournament has angered both men. Walken was fresh off coming out on top of a short feud with former partner Keith Vegas, while DeGraff comes in with a 2-4 record in the company. The SPW Tag Team champions seem low on challengers for the time being, but still wanted a place on the card. A win for the champions will add to their impressive run in SPW, while a win for Walken & DeGraff will surely notch them a title shot in the near future.

Jolly good show Dalton. I was shocked by James beating Ernie, a good ending to that match though, I envisioned that lariat decapitating Ernie. I'm glad to see more promo's on this show, the Wrestle World deal should also help get more fans in the building but hopefully, it won't lead to more poaching by the big guys.

Last Man Standing SPW Championship Match (1st Defense)

Logan Diaz © vs. Ernest Youngman

I know he just won the title but I see Ernie vs McManus happening next month, and the Diaz Family going after CANtucky

COTT North American Championship Match

Tigre de Salvaje Jr. © vs. Davis Wayne Newton

I see DWN losing just to have something to continue to complain about.

Singles Match

Ben Williams vs. The Dark Mauler

James Diaz vs. Zippy Deverell

James had an excellent KOTM but after Zippy's promo skills were on display last month, I can see the numbers game getting to him.

Tag Team Nontitle Match

The Casey Brothers © vs. Dead Man Walken & Dominic DeGraff

DMW & DeGraff have a rugged look to each other and I think they could be a decent thrown together tag team to go after the Casey bros.

Still lovin't it! I was a bit surprised to see James going over Ernest but i think it was a great move. I definetly can see that Youngman get back the title, defend against James and then move on to face McManus!

Confederation of the Territories Announces Co-Promoted Event with New York City Wrestling and Summit Pro Wrestling

WfQeJJb.jpg

COTT President Sam Keith announced today that two member companies will be hosting an event together in October of this year.

New York City Wrestling, run by Larry Vessey, and Summit Pro Wrestling, run by Jack Bruce, will co-promote an event on Thursday Week 4, October 2020, aptly named
NYCW/SPW: Battle for New York.

New York City Wrestling is based out of, you guessed it, New York City. It was founded in 1988 by The Stomper, and was sold to Larry Vessey in 2010. The company features an extremely old-school product, which has attracted both praise for sticking to tradition despite the changing wrestling landscape, and criticism for not changing with the times and being stuck in the 1970s, let alone the 1980s.

Summit Pro Wrestling was founded in late 2019 by Jack Bruce, who after retiring from the Supreme Wrestling Federation last summer, aimed to bring a modern style to the Northeast United States while remaining independent. The promotion is based out of Utica, NY and ran its first show in January of 2020.

Sam Keith stated that the card will feature four matches, all of which will be interpromotional bouts. He also stated that the card will be released in early October after both companies’ September events are completed in order to have an accurate look at their champions before the show.

This will be the first co-promoted show put on by the COTT since its inception in 2011. While Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling and Invincible Pro Wrestling had champion vs. champion matches and some interpromotional angles due to their close proximity in Los Angeles, never before has the alliance had an entire event revolve around such an idea.

The current champions for each company are as follows:

NYCW Empire: Hawkeye Calhoun

NYCW Tri-State Regional: Richie Riggins

NYCW Tag Team: Animal Harker & Geoff Borne

SPW Heavyweight: Logan Diaz

SPW Tag Team: The Casey Brothers (Chuck & Tully)

We can only assume that there will be some contention as to who will go over in the matches at Battle for New York. While SPW will want to make its mark as a top-tier independent company by going an established company, NYCW will certainly not lie down to a company that is only nine months old.

We are told that Sam Keith and some other COTT representatives will meet with Jack Bruce and Larry Vessey in early October to iron out the details, and also to determine the outcomes.

We will have an update on this story following the conclusion of SPW’s The Final Resolution event on Thursday Week 4 later this month.

Before that show, we have The Final Resolution! Here's the prediction key again:

Not a bad drive at all, considering how far I used to drive from town to town. I originally wanted to get to the arena around 4pm, just to scope out the place and put the finishing touches on the show. I sat around my house all morning until about noon, then just decided to head out early. If you’ve never been to New York, especially Upstate, then you might not be aware of the localized foods that we have here. Utica is known for it’s awesome chicken riggies, tomato pie, greens, Saranac beer, and my favorite, the half moons. Binghamton has there chicken spiedies, Buffalo has the best buffalo wings in the world, way up north in the Thousand Islands is the thousand islands dressing, and every other part of the state has their food as well. But Rochester man, Rochester has garbage plates. Sounds unappetizing, but it has macaroni, beans, burger meat, potatoes, and more and more and more. I was craving a garbage plate so I headed out a couple hours early. Well worth it.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The employees in the store actually recognized me, so I signed a couple autographs, took a few pictures, and even wrote on one of the bricks on the wall: “Jack Bruce, September 2020.” It made their day.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But now it was time to focus on the night ahead. Another big show for us for sure. Our first ever Last Man Standing match which might go down as our best match yet if it all goes to plan, a COTT North American title match, and a couple other storyline-advancing matches were all on the card. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> 4:45pm is when the boys started arriving. The first two there were James and Logan, so I talked with them a bit outside the half-built ring. James was the runner-up in the King of the Mountain tournament, which he was totally okay with, and Logan is the champ. What a great family they are. James’ father and Logan’s uncle Raymond is a legend in PGHW. He actually just retired twelve months ago after a bad shoulder injury and a worse surgery left his left arm pretty weak. He had a great career though, five-time PGHW Glory Crown Tag Team Champion, three-time Elite Tag Series Champion, all of those with Lee Wright. Raymond even won the Elite Series in 2008, his only singles accomplishment in his career. PGHW Hall of Famer to top it all off as well. His legacy lives on through the second generation here. Logan, real last name Wolfsbaine, was trained by him before debuting in 2015. James debuted this year, and was also trained by his father. Both of them have Raymond’s natural ability and will undoubtedly make it big somewhere. I’m lucky to have them here, and it won’t be too long before one of them is gone. I’m going to make the most of it when they’re here. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The rest of the guys arrived shortly after, so I let them hang out in the back while I sat ringside and went over things one last time. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> It’s going to be a good show.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="tqUmIEM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tqUmIEM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> <img alt="tk2GpkS.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tk2GpkS.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <span style="font-size:14px;"><strong>Summit Pro Wrestling Presents: The Final Resolution</strong></span></p><p> Rochester, NY</p><p> Thursday Week 4, September 2020</p><p> Attendance: 278</p><p> Viewers: 34,091</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49317" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Tag Team Nontitle Match</strong></p><p><strong> </strong><img alt="D2FR9FM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/D2FR9FM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="RXsfVIt.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/RXsfVIt.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> VS. <img alt="sjdjKm2.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/sjdjKm2.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="8OnMYUi.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/8OnMYUi.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> <strong>The Casey Brothers (Chuck & Tully) © vs. Dead Man Walken & Dominic DeGraff</strong></p><p> </p><p> The opening contest between the champs and two heels was a decent one. It got the crowd going early into the show, which of course was their goal. It was a traditional tag team bout with the heels being old-school brawlers, getting the heat on the younger Chuck for a good part of the match before he tagged in his brother Tully to clean house, before resetting for another heat segment. The champions showcased a bit more athleticism than previous matches, and took full advantage of their “amateur wrestler” gimmick, even though they were never amateurs. The finish came when Walken booted Chuck over the top rope allowing his partner DeGraff to hit Tully with a Double Arm DDT for the 1-2-3. Mauler’s Infernal Council factionmates Mr. Q and Injustice caused a ton of trouble for poor Ben Williams. Williams never really had the advantage in the match anyway, so what they were doing was just insult to injury. Constantly toying with him, Mauler brutalized him. Mauler pummeled him with punches in the corner, causing the referee to pull him back and scold him. While this was going on, Mr. Q from ringside picked up a kendo stick and wacked Williams in the side of the head with it while he was prone in the corner. He claimed that Salvaje stole the victory from him at Upstate Uprising, so this was his revenge. The match was actually very good and received awesome reactions from the 278 in attendance in Rochester. Salvaje’s aerial assaults wore down the slightly bigger Newton. Whenever he could, Newton would kick out the legs of his opponent to try to stop the high flying offense. The competitors definitely went all out here, with moonsaults, tope con hilos, and other explosive offensive maneuvers being used by both men. After 15 minutes, Salvaje reversed a powerbomb attempt by Newton into a hurricanrana, and then followed that up with a poisonrana for the victory! Both men wore jeans for the bout, with Logan wearing no shirt, and Ernie wearing a black tank top. When the bell rang, the men stayed in their corners, staring at the opponent. Then, almost synchronously, they rolled out of the ring and grabbed chairs! They slid back into the ring and stared again. Ernie smiled and his lips could be read saying “let’s go big man!” before they ran at each other and had a duel with the chairs! After they collided weapons three or four times, they both dropped their chairs and shook their hands in pain. Logan recovered quicker and laid out Ernie with a lariat! He gave him a snap suplex onto one of the chairs and played to the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> The next few minutes consisted of Logan punching and kicking the challenger. Ernie eventually grabbed Logan and threw him to the outside, where he followed and did his own punching and kicking on the outside. They went into the crowd, with chairshots by both men being plentiful. At one point, Logan had two fans hold a chair between them, and he whipped Ernie right into it! A couple ten-counts by the referee were cut short when the man down would get up by eight or nine. It was equal thus far, with both men dealing out incredible punishment. </p><p> </p><p> They continued to brawl up the stairs, ending up on the side of the top row of the bleachers in the arena. Conveniently, there were two tables side-by-side set up right below the dropoff from the bleachers. Ernie saw this, and was about to kick the champion down ten feet through the tables, but Logan blocked it by grabbing his foot, and then pulled him in to deliver a belly to belly suplex, sending both men through the tables on the floor!!! The crowd yelled their favorite chant, the “Holy S***” chant, as both men laid on the floor of the venue. </p><p> </p><p> The referee counted with neither competitor rising until around six, when Logan came to and rolled to his stomach. </p><p> </p><p> “SEVEN!” </p><p> </p><p> He raised slowly, grabbing the railing of the bleachers to help himself. </p><p> </p><p> “EIGHT!” </p><p> </p><p> Logan was now on his knees, with Ernie still out on the floor. </p><p> </p><p> “NINE!” </p><p> </p><p> Logan rose to his feet, leaning on the bleachers for support. “</p><p> </p><p> TEN!” </p><p> </p><p> The match is over! Logan Diaz retains the SPW Championship! Ernie was conscious, writhing in pain on the ground, but he couldn’t beat the ten count. Logan’s victory here gave him the ultimate victory in their trilogy of awesome matches. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner:</strong> Logan Diaz © (1st Defense)</p><p> <strong>Rating:</strong> 61</p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote> <p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="tqUmIEM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tqUmIEM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49317" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vZmrBiG.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vZmrBiG.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> </p><p> Logan grabbed the championship from the referee and stumbled to the ring, where he held the belt up proudly. The fans gave the two competitors a standing ovation. Logan dropped to his knees to catch his breath and take a moment to relax, when a familiar theme hit the PA system. </p><p> </p><p> <img alt="B30hHAe.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/B30hHAe.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> New York State of Mind blasted through the speakers for a second time tonight, signaling that Riley McManus was coming to the ring. He walked to the ring slowly, giving the champion an applause on the way. He stepped through the ropes and held out his hand to Logan, who was still on his knees. Logan was hesitant, as anyone would be in this situation. Eventually, he relented and shook the hand of his future challenger. He rose to his feet, still wobbly from the grueling match he just endured. Riley had a smirk on his face. After a brief staredown, the handshake turned into Riley raising the hand of the victor here tonight. Riley stared at the SPW Championship, which Logan noticed. Riley’s smirk turned into a full-blown smile as he backed away from the champion and left the ring. Logan watched him leave, making sure he was gone before continuing to celebrate the win tonight,</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>Show Rating: <strong>53</strong></p><p> <em>The Final Resolution gained us pop in 18 regions! I’m very happy with the results. One of the arena staff told me that there were quite a few people smiling and talking about how awesome the show as they were walking out. That’s an awesome feeling. For years I was in the ring, doing my part to entertain the crowd. Now, being the one who actually puts together the whole show, hearing people leave happy is amazing. There’s no feeling quite like it. The locker room was happy as well. When the boys are happy, you are happy. No drama, no fighting, no disputes, nothing. The problems were gone. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I haven’t been this optimistic after a show yet, I don’t think. By cutting the BS and just putting on good shows, I’ve been happy. Even the WrestleWorld camera guys who watch wrestling every night, they were happy too. They said following the action of the main event was a pain in the ass, but it was worth it. The table spot at the end was a great visual, the main cam guy told me. I can’t wait to watch the replay when I get home. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Speaking of WrestleWorld, after two shows, I definitely see the appeal. Thousands of people get to see the action we put on LIVE. No more taping and selling DVDs of the events. It’s 2020, streaming is the future, even an old man like me can see that. The main cam guy also told me that one of the WrestleWorld employees texted him and told me we had over 34,000 people at the peak. That’s incredible honestly. We went from selling a thousand or so shows online days after the show ended, to that many people watching live. Add that to the awesome feelings of tonight. I’d expect a few more thousand watching the replay in the next week or so as well.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Logan and Ernie were banged up after their clinic in the main event. When I walked into the locker room, they were sitting there with ice on the back of their necks, talking about the match and laughing. </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “You know how hard it was trying not to laugh while staring at you as the first bell rang bro?” Logan said through laughter.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “Oh, so it wasn’t just me then. I had to bite my lip. I wonder how that looked on WrestleWorld!” Ernie responded.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I chimed in. “Boys, what a hell of a main event. I bet it’s a bit of a different style, the brawling and all that. Having a nontraditional match like that will serve you greatly when you guys get signed somewhere. It shows you can put on a show outside of your technical skills.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> “We had a few matches in Pittsburgh Steel, but it was hard adjusting to the brawling style. This was definitely our best brawling-type of match yet, for sure.” Logan said.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ernie spoke up. “Hey boss, speaking of PSW, I forgot to mention before the show, but I put in my notice over there a few days ago. I’ve been their for eight years now. Accomplished everything I could. I needed to get out before I ended up hurting myself before I strike it big. I’ll take some more indie dates now that I have a lighter schedule.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> I was taken aback a bit. “Yeah? Well good for you Ernie. I’d like to say that I look forward to eight more years with you just like Mitch Naess had with you in Pittsburgh, but I’d be selling you short man. You know you’ll be tearing it up in the big leagues soon enough. Both of you. Christ, I’m lucky you’re still here now.”</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Ernie and Logan thanked me for the compliments and I headed out. Like I said before, I was in a great mood leaving tonight. Our missions were accomplished. Everything was on the up and up.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Let’s hope our success endures for a long while.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> </p><p> Prediction Key:</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49317" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vJmJWBI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vJmJWBI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tqUmIEM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tqUmIEM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong><span style="font-size:12px;">New York City Wrestling and Summit Pro Wrestling Present: Battle for New York</span></strong></p><p> White Plains, NY</p><p> Thursday Week 4, October 2020</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Special Tag Team Main Event</span></strong></p><p> NYCW’s Brooklyn’s Finest (Freedom Eagle and NYCW Empire Champion Hawkeye Calhoun) vs. SPW’s Diaz Family (James Diaz & SPW Champion Logan Diaz)</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Tag Team Nontitle Match </span></p><p> NYCW Tag Team Champions Animal Harker & Geoff Borne vs. SPW Tag Team Champions The Casey Brothers</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Singles Match </span></p><p> NYCW’s Masked Stranger vs. SPW’s Ernest Youngman</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Singles Match </span></p><p> NYCW’s Crockett Tubbs vs. SPW’s Samoan Machine</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

<em>I think Tubbs might be more over at this point, only reason I could see him winning this one</em></p><p> </p><p>

Just caught up with this diary and I am loving it! Also I'm surprised Jack wasn't annoyed with Logan or the ref for the fact Logan went for a cover in a Last man standing match and the ref actually counted for it haha</p>
