The interview took place backstage in a hallway an hour after his loss. </p><p> </p><p> <em>“Two months ago, I was in the six-way match for the COTT North American title. I had that match won. I hit the Fisherman Suplex on Slayyer. I was rolling over for the pinfall when Tigre de Salvaje Jr. kicked me and threw me out of the ring. He stole my victory. He stole my title. He’s the one who gets to tour the country. He’s the one eating nice, sleeping well, looking pretty. But underneath that mask is a man who knows what he did. I took him on tonight, and I lost. I lost in a match that should have never taken place! I should be the champion! You hear me Sam Keith? You hear me Jack Bruce? It should’ve been ME! </em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em> After thirteen years of busting my ass across this entire goddamn continent, I have nothing to show for it!”</em></p><p> </p><p> Newton pushed the camera back and walked away down the hall. The cameraman steadied himself and followed for a few steps only to catch Newton grab <strong>Keith Vegas</strong> who was just walking by and throw him into the wall. He unloaded on him and for some reason pulled out a Fisherman’s Suplex onto poor Keith Vegas. Newton got on top of him and slapped the ground for a very unofficial three count.</p><p> </p><p> <em>“You see?! I pinned someone with that move! Why couldn’t I have done that two months ago? Why couldn’t I have done that tonight?”</em></p><p> </p><p> Referees and trainers came to assist an injured Keith Vegas while Newton walked down the hallway alone, stopping every so often to punch something or knock something over.</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Prediction Key for Battle for New York:</p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="49317" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="vJmJWBI.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/vJmJWBI.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><img alt="tqUmIEM.jpg" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/tqUmIEM.jpg" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p> <strong><span style="font-size:12px;">New York City Wrestling and Summit Pro Wrestling Present: Battle for New York</span></strong></p><p> White Plains, NY</p><p> Thursday Week 4, October 2020</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Special Tag Team Main Event</span></strong></p><p> NYCW’s Brooklyn’s Finest (Freedom Eagle and NYCW Empire Champion Hawkeye Calhoun) vs. SPW’s Diaz Family (James Diaz & SPW Champion Logan Diaz)</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Tag Team Nontitle Match </span></p><p> NYCW Tag Team Champions Animal Harker & Geoff Borne vs. SPW Tag Team Champions The Casey Brothers</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Singles Match </span></p><p> NYCW’s Masked Stranger vs. SPW’s Ernest Youngman</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Singles Match </span></p><p> NYCW’s Crockett Tubbs vs. SPW’s Samoan Machine</p><p> </p><p> </p></div><p></p><p> </p></div></blockquote>

I really liked the segment with DWN his disappointment for a lack of success in his long career is getting to him. It’s like things just never go his way. I could see him getting involved with Infernal Council honestly :3.

Also I agree with CGN it’d be cool to see a New York promotion feud between y’all.

Thanks! When I first wrote about his anger with losing that inaugural COTT NA title match, it hit me that it sounded a lot like Owen Hart during his feud with Brett. A lot of whining. So I decided to just go that route and it's been fun.

Sammy Bach’s Independent Tour Begins

hG4AtQc.jpg

Sammy Bach left Total Championship Wrestling in July, and after taking a few months off, has started his tour of the independents!

His reason for leaving TCW is still up for discussion, with the biggest rumors pointing to him wanting to leave behind the grueling schedule that accompanies working for a major league American promotion. The split is said to be amicable, with a return possible down the line. Now 42 years old, Bach looks to return to the independent scene after thirteen years of wrestling for TCW. Before signing that big deal in 2007, he worked for Coastal Zone Championship Wrestling, United States Pro Wrestling (way before Allen Packer came into the picture) and Danger and Violence Extreme. He held tag titles with Teddy Powell in DAVE and USPW, and even held the Coastal Zone Championship in 2003.

His initial announcement in August was a huge surprise. Most fans had assumed he was going to USPW for one final big money run, but his desire for a lighter schedule meant that would not happen. Money does not seem to have an issue for him either. His first official signing was with FREEDOM Championship Wrestling in Puerto Rico in September, followed by Los Angeles’ Invincible Pro Wrestling shortly thereafter. His first match was for IPW in October, where he defeated LA legend Masked Cougar. He followed that six days later in FCW, where he teamed with Bull Wrecker and Mutant to defeat Texas Pete and the team of Darkness Falls, Cobra and Martyr, in a six-man tag team match. One day later, he signed on with New York City Wrestling to face DiMeo Family boss Sal DiMeo, to whom he would LOSE to in a shock upset caused by interference from the DiMeo Family. The match in NYCW goes to show that Bach did not just want to win across the country; he was willing to put over some talent and build the independents as a whole.

Signing with IPW gives Bach access to the whole Confederation of the Territories. Obviously, all member companies would love to bring him in as soon as possible. Bach has expressed desires to work with as many companies as possible, so do not be surprised if you see him at your local independent’s shows.

It is commendable that Sammy Bach gave up the luxury lifestyle that comes with TCW to work the independent scene. How long this will last is completely up in the air. No one knows if he will take one last run in the big leagues, or if he is slowly heading towards retirement. Either way, we thank him for working to build up independent professional wrestling in the United States.

Tommy Cornell & Edward Cornell Sign with the Supreme Wrestling Federation

Ork54QA.jpgk2Fux0U.jpg

The Supreme Wrestling Federation adds to their impressive 2020 resume by signing perhaps the biggest star of the 21st century, Tommy Cornell, along with his cousin Edward, a star in his own right. The biggest star of the 21st century will leave 21st Century Pro Wrestling out of the UK to return to America.

Initially making his name in SWF, it was Total Championship Wrestling where Tommy would truly become THE Tommy Cornell. He took a big money deal to leave the USA for the UK to work for 21CW in 2015. A major factor of this was his cousin Edward who was already a star for the company. Now five years later, Tommy is ready for another challenge. At 42 years old, he took an even bigger deal to come back to America to return to SWF.

There was a four-way bid battle for Tommy between USPW, TCW, SWF, and 21CW. The war brought his price up to over $165,000 a month. SWF was the one most willing to pay that, and so it was them who won his rights.

Edward Cornell worked for 21CW his entire career. 11 years to the week after debuting, he will be leaving to head to America with his cousin Tommy. Edward became a star in the UK in his own right, winning the 21CW World title on three occasions. He quickly grew out of Tommy’s shadow and became a very good main eventer for the UK promotion. Now he will head to America to try his luck in SWF! Initial reports say that he will be making almost as much as his cousin as well.

The signings add to an awesome year for SWF, whose return to the top of American wrestling was a surprise to many. USPW’s popularity is slowly declining month after month. TCW’s great run in the first half of the year has cooled off. SWF has slowly risen above both other companies to become the most popular company in the US, albeit by the smallest of margins. Although they will never match the 9+ million viewers weekly that USPW gets, SWF is hitting 3 million rather frequently. TCW is slightly behind, hovering around 2.7 million.

SWF is also host to the most popular star in the USA, Rocky Golden, whose popularity can only be described as 100 out of 100. The company signed him away from TCW in 2018, a move that turned around their fortunes. Now in a boom period, SWF looks to the future with much optimism.
