Dear Adam, please communicate with us

Recommended Posts

Edit: Please don't use this thread to start meaningless discussions. This is really just here to make sure that Adam knows about the lack of communication that a significant amount of users are criticising. This is not about b*tching about the game or anything like that.

I want to make this as short as possible.

There have been and still are a lot of concerns about this game. A lot of them have been fixed, and a few of them even were addressed before they got fixed, but still every day there are threads or posts about serious issues and there's absolutely no communication to give us any idea about

  • Whether you're aware of the problem
  • Why the problem exists in the first place; there's almost no transparency for us players
  • Whether you'll work on a fix
  • Or if not, why you won't

I understand that you're probably very busy patching the game and figuring out problems, but the thing is this: Having problems with the game, telling you about them via this forum and not getting ANY reaction whatsoever is way more frustrating than having to wait a day longer for a patch! If I know that a problem is being worked on - or even that it's not, but I know the reason -, I'm going to stay on board longer than if I'm waiting to no avail. Because if the problems are addressed at some point (via patch notes, most of the time), chances are I'm not around anymore to care.

Long story short: Please spend some of the time you're working on the game to communicate with us.

At the moment I am working purely on fixing the things that have been brought up in the technical support forum.

Once I have gotten on top of that, then I will begin looking through the suggestions forum for changes and improvements. There won't be any schedule / list until then as I don't have one.

wow.. and this is why Adam didn't release the game earlier. People complain when its held back for more testing then people are mad when he releases it and there's still issues.

Thanks Adam for all your hard work. I love every aspect of this game.

I don't want to put any pressure or him, but I've had bug reports deleted without the bug being adressed in the patch. Why? It wasn't a bug? He simply doesn't feel like adressing it? A mind starts wandering, especially in these lonely times...

Even when directly reaching out about the finances, I got no respons. I'm obviously not "owed" a response or anything, but again: this leads me to believe there's no interest in fixing it despite people here voicing the same concerns.

The only thing we know now is that there's no drastic changes to the UI due to technical limits, but most of us knew that already or expected that.

From 1.04, it looks like most of the crashes and potential gamebreaking stuff will be fixed, so I hope there's time to fix these things.

The game's definitely good now, but I was expecting a little more from it. And I gotta know whether I have to put these expectations to the rest, or simply wait some more.

He's obviously not mad. I get a sense of disappointment or eagerness, but "mad" is... something else.

I feel like you're missing the point of this post wildly. They're asking for some transparency on why some things aren't being able to be changed (such as letter grades not being considered). Your post misses the mark entirely here. And I agree, players have been called entitled and told to stop bringing up the same points by mods. If we got a concrete answer this would probably stop situations like this.

Thank you for this completely useless response. I was one of the people who were extremely glad that Adam delayed the game release to address some of the issues. You're totally missing my point.

You didn't even buy the game so why would your concerns matter to him? There's enough people supporting his work even when it's not perfect right now.

Because Adam probably wants to sell as many copies of this game as he can.

Most threads that are slightly critical or even show the slghtest bit of concern about the game other than "great game adam I love it, there's no problem" will be met with people that attack them blindly for no reason other than to defend the game even if they're wrong, I'm sure Adam isn't blinded by those overly positive comments that hide the genuine consern over the status of the game for most players.

But I'd like him to address the most concerning features - and it's relatively easy to figure out what those are - in a separate thread that is being updated when it's necessary.</p><p> </p><p> He doesn't even need to go into much detail. Just a list of concerns that he has on his list to work on and that will be fixed/changed at some point, and a quick notice about prominent suggestions that he won't implement, including one or two sentences about the reason. I don't think that's too much to ask for. As I've written, if maintaining such a thread means that development slows down a tiny bit (because I'm sure it wouldn't slow it down more), that's much better than having no communication at all and leaving players in the dark about their concerns, in my opinion.</p>

Look at SI forum they have like 20 moderators and needed days to address a big issue on FM20 where every staff member got 1 (of 20) for many important attributes when they weren't assigned from the start (they randomize these normally or something) and you expect Ryland to answer to every guy by himself? Do your own game then, let's see how that works out.

These developers then need to meet and talk about whether it's possible to implement the changes that are necessary. Maybe they even have to talk with the managers to see whether it fits the budget and/or current development schedule. All of these processes take time.</p><p> </p><p> Adam doesn't need to do any of this. He's the sole developer of the game. If he sees a request, he can decide whether he'll do something about it or not, all by himself, and without any delay.</p>

<p>Stop with the hostilities or this will get locked just like every other thread of similar ilk.</p><p> </p><p>

Chill.</p><p> </p><p>

Now that the game is out, and works without major RTE's or bugs (not talking about balancing, that's whole another issue in itself), Adam will surely have more time to do other stuff that takes more time and require different sort of work than just altering the code of the game. But what I'd actually like is for Adam to take a few days off - I bet that over the years this whole series, which probably started as a fun hobby, might be quite tedious work in the end and it would be good to take a breather and come back at it with fresh eyes.</p><p> </p><p>

There's a lot of balancing to be done with the finances etc., but as skeptic as I've been, Adam does tend to fix things in time.</p>

Even if it is a concern that you don't share, they have a right to voice it. They are allowed to be dissatisfied with a product, they are allowed to want answers to questions and are allowed to put voice to the concern.</p><p> </p><p> They shouldn't be attacked or have their opinions labelled as less-than or unworthy because it dissents. Dissenting opinions are always welcome and encouraged, so let's not be rude to them for having opinions or questions.</p>

If the problems are being worked on, which I have no reason to believe they are not, then I'm not too concerned with not being updated every step of the way. As a consumer of the game who's playing it daily, I'd rather the time and effort be put forth on fixing the bugs/game play mechanics that aren't working properly rather than updates on what specifically is being addressed first. Reason being is that I've no reason to this point to doubt that Adam is working on the game. From being here for the release of 16 and now 20, Adam seems to be spending a ton of time of ensuring the game meets the standards of the fan base. Until he shows a reason to doubt him or his work/effort towards the game, I'll continue to put faith into Adam.

Lmao.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> This is a really poor meme on this forum. This game might be cheap in the United States where new games usually start at $59.99 but for people, like me, outside of the United States this game is only slightly cheaper than most AAA games brand new (£30 for this, or £40-45 for most new releases if you shop around).</p><p> </p><p> Regardless of that fact, we are either paying customers or potential customers. It doesn't matter if something costs £10 or £100 - you're voice and opinion matters, no matter what. If we went with the mentality 'meh, it's cheap, so it doesn't matter' then there would be no improvements made - and nothing is ever perfect, improvements can always be made.</p>

Which issues are you talking about? The main ones(the UI, custom products, broadcasting) have been addressed

This thread shouldn't be about game issues. I'm talking about the booking screen, for example, because that's a major concern for a lot of people right now. Also there seems to be something off with worker development, or at least some players start to get suspicious about it.

It doesn't really matter though. Adam's responded and made a statement, which is enough at this point in time.
