Gimmick specific worker stats

Recommended Posts

This is something I would love to have for eg Mark Calloway as dead man Undertaker his menace shoots up to 90-95 but Mark Calloway in any other gimmick his stats go down to 70's range.

This could be done with other stats as well that a worker takes gimmick so well that when he is in that gimmick his stats artificially inflate only with that gimmick.

Thoughts?

1. I would love to see the Gimmick section give us a list of Bonus/Penalty to every given skill, and to every core match type such as Cinematic, Comedy, Hardcore, Technical Masterclass, Spectacle/Epic.

2. The reason it hardly matters is because Menace doesn't matter. What, he gonna do a 80 rated angle standing there? Same with Charisma. If you rate him on Entertainment for 6 minutes, you can get your 90+, all the way up to 100. Gimmick can already be set to give "Small Bonus" to Star Quality, Microphone, and Charisma, the 3core of Entertainment.

3. Doing this would require fixing one of my most hated parts of this game - gimmicks being done through "Contract". I wish the Gimmick and Alter Ego screen were kinda combined to let Alter Egos have the bonuses and penalties.

Something like a modifier would work. Like a plus/minus for specific gimmick types.

Calloway is a natural menacing man because of his size so he would already high a high menace stat. But he also would be less intimidating if he had a comedy gimmick and not the deadman gimmick.

“Comedy gimmick type would give a -10 penalty to menace rating”

Same can be true for other gimmick types.

Val Venis would get a boost to his sex appeal with his porn star gimmick vs if he had his censor gimmick.

(Maybe a new gimmick type “sex symbol”)

Yes thats what I mean ofcourse Calloway the wrestler will be quite high in-menace close to 80 +- but as a dead man he goes straight up in the 90's.

I guess it is partially there in the game as if a wrestler does well in a certain gimmick he does get a performance bonus, Someone like a Steve Austin was always a charismatic guy but the moment he turned Stone Cold his charisma went off the charts but would be great if you can see this in raw stats and will make the gimmicks more important.

I like this take on it, but that looks like it would be best suited for attributes and not something to put inside the gimmick section of contracts.

I was thinking more so tied into gimmick types.

Like a legit gimmick would lose ton of momentum when losing to a comedy gimmick.

But it can definitely work as attributes as well.

After all, Bray Wyatt does some comedy in his promos for the fiend so it’s not really a universal thing of comedy elements not being intimating.

As for the OP, maybe an attribute for plays menace/monster well. There is already one for Occult which might cover Undertaker but one for monster is needed (if it wasn’t added already)

Agreed.

It can be said that Austin had the “plays bad ass well” attribute. Up until he became Stone Cold, he never played a bad ass gimmick. Showed glimpse of it in ECW but that gimmick would probably be crazy.

Same thing for The Rock. Down in Jerry Lawler’s promotion, he showed signs when he was in his swagger gimmick. Got called up, they gave him a old school baby face and it failed. Gave him the cool/swagger and he took off.

Maybe add the attribute “Plays extremely well” to give a little more bonus.

I think the way gimmicks are now is a step in the right direction. I just want more. The bonuses for an amazing gimmick to the bigger. The penalties for a bad gimmick to be more devastating. Performance caps for so-so gimmicks. To make sure that Austin can't be Austin until he becomes Stone Cold.

I think mostly, I want feedback. "Sparkplug Bob Holly didn't leave much of an impression on the fans with his Race Car Driver gimmick". "Lance Storm looked uncomfortable with his Dancing Fool gimmick". "The crowd really got into The Rock's Cocky Heel gimmick". Gimmicks are definitely helping and hurting performances, but visual/readable feedback reinforces that.

Agree, especially about bonuses and penalties being bigger. Looking at some AI companies and it’s not rate to see workers with poor gimmick ratings on warm to hot momentum.

This is already in the game. Taker's gimmick would have the note "Gives a large boost to Menace in matches and angles."

Yeah but would be nice to see this in stats what does a large/ small boost imply. Maybe there can be 3 three tiers to further differentiate in gimmmics

Small - boost/penalty 1-3

Medium - boost /penalty 4-6

Large - boost/penalty 7-10

I think it'd be cool to be able to have different workers be different personas at the same time - i.e. Fiend and Funhouse Wyatt, Mutoh and Great Muta, Finn and Demon - where there's a boost if you bring it out only every so often and less and less of one the more you use it and the more it loses (maybe rate it like a mask, in terms of importance?)
