TCW presents Total Wrestling

Tuesday, Week One, April 2020 - LIVE from Evanovich Riverside (Manhattan, NY)

Show Rating: 87

The entrance music of Jay Chord kicks us off this week, the hated son of the legendary Rip Chord making his way into the arena and down to the ring with his bodyguard of late, Joshua Taylor, in tow. He reminds us all that he made some demands on Saturday, and that he set a time limit for the TCW Championship Committee to meet those demands.

“Time is up, so it’s about time Ricky Dale Johnson sits down the whiskey for five minutes, hauls his pickled carcass down to the ring, and gives me what is mine!” Chord demands. “Get out here right now, and you bring that contract for Where Angels Fear to Tread with you… it is time for me to fulfill my destiny, and become TCW World Champion.”

After a brief moment of pause, Ricky Dale Johnson’s music hits and the Committee Cowboy makes his way out to the ring look none too happy about what is going on in the thing.

Q6XX2us.jpg

“Jay, I want you to listen, and I want you to listen good,” RDJ begins, taking off his cowboy hat and sitting on the ringpost. “The TCW Championship Committee sent me here to get a handle on things just like this… inmates thinkin’ they can run the asylum. Brats like you thinkin’ they can make demands and get their way.”

RDJ tells Jay Chord that you don’t get a title shot by demanding one, you get it by earning one, and that, despite his win-loss record, he isn’t the number one contender. Chord calls that ridiculous, and says that it doesn’t matter anyway because he wasn’t asking. Johnson drops his microphone, throws down his suit jacket, and starts rolling up his sleeves as the crowd roars their approval. Before he can even finish, Chord and Taylor exit the ring.

“Twice already I’ve had to assault you, old man,” Chord sneers. “We warned you, now consider it a global threat! Until Jay Chord gets his title shot, TCW will be a very unsafe working environment for everyone not named Jay Chord or Joshua Taylor!”

“The Hitman” Ernest Youngman is out after the commercial break for a quick promo before his match. He says that what happened at Battleground doesn’t matter, and that he’ll have his day with T-Bone Bright. But, for now, he’s going to set his sights on every talent that stands between him and the TCW Television title. Venus Angeletti plays hypegirl on his shoulder rather than taking centerstage for the promo this time, and Youngman comes out looking better for it.

SEGMENT RATING: 54

THE HITMAN

ERNEST YOUNGMAN

VERSUS

DANNY FONZARELLI

Youngman makes relatively short work of Dr. Love, recovering some momentum in quick TV match where he picks up the win with The Hit.

WINNER: Ernest Youngman (6:42)

MATCH RATING: 68

Backstage, T-Bone Bright is cutting a promo about beating The Hitman last night; he, too, plans to set his sights on the TCW Television title. Before he can issue a challenge, however, Doc Hammond and Chris Flynn wander through the shot, drawing T-Bone’s ire. Hammond remains silent while Bright and Flynn argue back-and-forth for a moment.

“Don’t think I’m scared of your mime ass, either, Hammond,” T-Bone warns with a shove but just then, Ricky Dale Johnson is walking through the same backstage area as well. He tells the three of them that he is sick of all of this, and that Bright and Hammond can settle their differences in the ring tonight.

MIGHTY MO

VERSUS

NICK BOOTH

Mighty Mo is on the warpath after being turned on by his partner at Battleground; Tana’s new Sinner Society brethren Nick Booth is little more than a victim for Mighty Mo in this one. Plunging Spinebuster for the win after a display of dominance.

WINNER: Mighty Mo (5:54)

MATCH RATING: 66

Mighty Mo takes a microphone after his match, seething as he says that he’s still coming for Eddie Peak and the whole Sinner Society. He plans to dismantle them one at a time, the same way he just did to Nick Booth. At Where Angels Fear to Tread, he wants Tana one-on-one but he doesn’t plan on stopping there.

“I want Eddie Peak at Total Mayhem!” he shouts.

IAdc0El.jpgvV4FMuy.jpg14HQF96.jpg

Aaron Andrews is backstage with the Dogs of War, thanking them for their help at Battleground even though they came up short. He tells them he’s not making any excuses, he’s the one that lost for their team, and he’s just glad no one got seriously injured in the process. Human Arsenal tells him not to worry about it, they all fought with honor and Andrews can still win the war at Total Mayhem. One Man Army says he isn’t upset with the Ace, either, but that they need to focus on defending their titles against whoever becomes the #1 contenders next week.

DEVINE FORTUNE

(DARRYL DEVINE & CHANCE FORTUNE)

VERSUS

THE ELITE

(EDDIE CHANDLER & NATE JOHNSON)

These two tried to put on a barnburner, but something about the match just never got going in the right direction. Devine Fortune hit a few wowing high spots, and The Elite tried to cheat their way to victory but in the end a Devine Dream Drop picked up the win for Devine Fortune.

WINNERS: Devine Fortune (12:59)

MATCH RATING: 67

b97NFHg.jpgWC6SOYO.jpg

T-BONE BRIGHT

VERSUS

DOC HAMMOND

These two were hot after their earlier interaction, but the crowd just wasn’t quite with them in this match, either. T-Bone came out looking good, coming close to victory before a distraction by Chris Flynn allows Doc to take over and lock on the Texas Cloverleaf for the win.

WINNER: Doc Hammond (12:20)

MATCH RATING: 62

cABZhW3.jpgBXNSkIZ.jpgaPny4LO.jpg

Eddie Peak is out with the Sinner Society, including a newly bald Tana who is sneering quietly at the crowd the whole time. Tonight’s Sinner Sermon from Peak is about betrayal, which makes the giant smile confidently; during the course of Peak’s sermon, he rechristens Tana the Mighty.

“He will no longer be known by the demeaning name of Tana the Mighty, but his name will reflect his true nature… sinners, please welcome to the fold, Tana the Savage!”

THE BEHEMOTHS

(KILLER SHARK & TITAN)

W/ EDDIE PEAK

VERSUS

BENNY BENSON & FLYING JIMMY FOXX

Little more than a glorified squash for The Behemoths as they have their way with Benson and Foxx, the announce team putting over all the whole how shocking it is to see so little offense from Benny & The Foxx.

WINNERS: The Behemoths (7:53)

MATCH RATING: 60

u4ZfesD.jpgzyzz4Jg.jpglUdt6gc.jpg

As the Sinner Society filters out of the arena, The Supremacy make their way down the entrance ramp and assault a recovering Benny Benson and Flying Jimmy Foxx while the crowd boos them.

Wolf Hawkins is out in front of the crowd this week instead of cutting a promo from The Syndicate’s VIP suite. He brags about making Aaron Andrews surrender at Battleground, which gives The Alpha Wolf three different victories over the supposed Ace of TCW.

“That means at Total Mayhem, when we’re finally one-on-one, your days are numbered!”

After a few minutes of braggadocious promo work, Hawkins is interrupted by the entrance of Freddy Huggins.

ZgJPGYa.jpg

Huggins tells Hawkins he can brag all he wants, but he still lost to The Huggster last week on Total Wrestling.

“Since your dance card is empty for Where Angels Fear to Tread, why don’t you tango with me instead of sitting the night out? Consider it a warm-up if you want, but you should also consider losing that Total Mayhem match if you lose to me again ‘Alpha,’” Huggins says mockingly. Hawkins initially refuses, but after some back-and-forth and a lot of goading from the fan favorite Huggins, Hawkins finally agrees to a match at the pay-per-view.

TCW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH

GREG GAUGE ©

VERSUS

SAMMY BACH

The crowd is finally with the wrestlers for this match, practically frothing at the mouth for Sammy to take the Television title off of Gauge. They go back-and-forth for most of the television time limit, exchanging near falls and hitting big moves until Gauge finally picks up the clean with a Proton Lock, much the chagrin of the crowd.

WINNER: Greg Gauge (14:07)

MATCH RATING: 81

rKWGkKG.jpg2y36Ffs.jpg

Following the match, Greg Gauge gets his title and gets out of dodge as Jay Chord and Joshua Taylor hit the ring and assault Sammy Bach. After taking a Cradle Piledriver, Taylor stretches him into the Butterfly Lock while Chord goes outside to get a microphone and a chair.

“We warned you it was going to get ugly around here, and we meant it,” Chord threatens, booting Bach in the face while Taylor keeps the Butterfly Lock cinched in tight. “I also told you all I planned to rid TCW of Sammy Bach one and for all, and tonight, I make good on that promise, too!” Taylor finally lets go of the hold, then helps Chord wrap the chair around Bach’s leg before they both stomp on it and pillmanize his ankle.

While Bach writhes and screams in pain, Chord says they’re only just getting started. While the announcers decry his actions, Chord jaws at the camera that Ricky Dale Johnson better give him what he wants to end the show.

Big fan of Tana the Savage name change! I like Jay's antics with RDJ, I'm really interested in what you do next with them. Is RDJ looking to lace up the boots??

Hawkin's promo explains his loss to the Huggster last week, since Huggins no has a legitimate claim to the main event of Total Mayhem. It fills the next PPV slot for both of them and even though the winner is clear, I'm interested to see Wolf in the build-up for the next two months!

TCW Saturday Night Showcase

Saturday, Week One, April 2020 - LIVE from Louisiana Auditorium (New Orleans, LA)

Announce Team: Shawn Doakes, Kyle Rhodes, and Jasmine Saunders

Attendance: 10,000 SELLOUT!- TV Rating: 3.19 on ACE; 0.36 on IC-TV

Show Rating: 77

Q6XX2us.jpg

Ricky Dale Johnson kicks off Showcase this week, a somber look on his face as he enters the ring and the commentators remind us of the events that transpired this past Tuesday on Total Wrestling; Jay Chord & Joshua Taylor’s ultimatum, RDJ’s refusal, and the subsequent attack on Sammy Bach that left him with an injured leg. Johnson raises the microphone and asks the crowd, calmly, one simple question: “You ever been so mad that you just go calm?”

The Committee Cowboy’s jaw is clenched despite his calm demeanor. He says that the Championship Committee sent him here to do a job, and what happened on Total Wrestling was a complete failure of that job but that despite Chord & Taylor, he plans to soldier on. He could fine them again, but it wouldn’t matter; he could suspend them indefinitely, but it wouldn’t matter; he could fire them, but that would be a silly decision for a number of reasons.

“I ain’t licked in this fight, but I hafta admit I’m buffaloed on what to do next,” RDJ admits. “I’ll put my fists up with anybody I have to, but I’m kidding myself and all a’ you if I think I’m getting in this ring with the new generation of talent in TCW-- my mind is more than willing, but I’m smart enough to know the body ain’t able.”

RDJ says he isn’t sure what the next step is, but he’ll find it, and when he does there will be Hell to pay for Jay Chord and Joshua Taylor.

SEGMENT RATING: 99

The announce team welcome us back from our first commercial break, and recap what happened at Battleground III when the rechristened Tana the Savage turned on Mighty Mo to join forces with the Sinner Society. Tana is out with new music and Eddie Peak by his side to cut a quick promo on how TCW fans saw him as a loveable buffoon for years, and it ate at him and ate at him until he realized that all he to do… was give in. Give in to temptation… give in to that savage voice inside… get to the root of all his sins, and love himself for them, just as Eddie Peak has been preaching all along.

SEGMENT RATING: 72

TANA THE SAVAGE

W/ EDDIE PEAK

VERSUS

BEN WILLIAMS

The crowd wasn’t too thrilled about seeing a legit squash match here, and they let the performers know about it while the announce team tried to spin it as the crowd being disgusted with Tana. The big Samoan picks up the win with a Savage Splash.

WINNER: Tana the Savage (4:18)

MATCH RATING: 37

The Supremacy are out after the break for a quick promo, calling what happened at Battleground “a travesty and a fluke.” The announcers remind us they lost a tag team match to Benny & The Foxx where Benny Benson got a quick roll-up for the victory before the trio beat them down after the match. Davis Wayne Newton says that it’s commonplace for old foxes to do and new, young, virile foxes to take their place before Austin Smooth says that they’re going to put this old fox to sleep.

“And as for Benny Benson,” adds Jeremie Courtney. “When we’re through with him, he’ll admit defeat and go crawling into the sunset after Jimmy Foxx… just a couple of old dogs who are out of tricks.”

SEGMENT RATING: 41

THE SUPREMACY

(JEREMIE COURTNEY AND AUSTIN SMOOTH)

W/ DAVIS WAYNE NEWTON

VERSUS

BENNY BENSON AND FLYING JIMMY FOXX

The first half of the match is much the same as their pay-per-view encounter until Davis Wayne Newton gets involved on the outside to help his Supremacy brethren take the upperhand. Eventually, with DWN hiding from the ref and holding down Foxx’s foot, Austin Smooth picks up the cheap victory for The Supremacy.

WINNERS: The Supremacy (10:22)

MATCH RATING: 57

TCW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH

GREG GAUGE ©

VERSUS

TROY TORNADO

By virtue of his nearly winning performance at Battleground, Troy Tornado gets a rematch with the TCW Television Champion here. The match is nearly as good as the pay-per-view match, but was somewhat hurt by the fact that the TV time limit draw was telegraphed in the closing minutes. Officially a draw, but Gauge retains to likely defend against Tornado again another day.

TV TIME LIMIT DRAW, BUT STILL CHAMPION: Greg Gauge (15:00)

MATCH RATING: 79

Freddy Huggins is out after the break alongside his sister and manager, Laura Catherine Huggins; they receive a huge ovation from the crowd, smiling on their way to the ring as Laura points out some of the best pro-Freddy signs in her field of vision. Freddy holds the ropes for her, then gets in the ring and starts cutting a promo about how he was a loser in battle, but he’ll be a victor in war.

“I’m coming for the TCW World title,” he says to a loud pop. “It doesn’t matter whose waist it’s around, because as of tonight, my sole focus is that big, gold belt. Wolf Hawkins, Jay Chord, even the Ace himself… I survived the Battleground, and tonight starts my warpath to the World title!”

SEGMENT RATING: 68

ZgJPGYa.jpgQ6eqZdG.jpgWC6SOYO.jpg

FREDDY HUGGINS

W/ LAURA CATHERINE HUGGINS

VERSUS

DOC HAMMOND

These two started off hot with some back-and-forth until Freddy took the advantage for a while. Doc eventually changed the momentum, and was working on setting up his Texas Cloverleaf submission when T-Bone Bright appeared in front of the cheering crowd. He came down to the ringside area and hopped up on the apron, jawing at Hammond about their differences from Tuesday. As the ref tries to get control of the situation, Huggins pops up out of nowhere and grabs Hammond, hitting a Huggins Kiss for the win.

WINNER: Freddy Huggins (13:27)

MATCH RATING: 73

“Freddy Huggins with the win, but it does not look like things are over between Doc Hammond and T-Bone Bright!” Doakes shouts before Rhodes signs off for the team.

Go T-Bone!

The RDJ saga is very interesting. I assume if he can't do the fighting, as he CLAIMS, then someone will? Not sure where you're going with it but I am infatuated. As always, you write a very good and real promo for him as well.

Tana the Savage as a bald dude is also awesome. I like the new look and attitude and it seems like a logical step before Mighty Mo becomes the new WORLD CHAMPION.

Aaron Andrews & Freddy Huggins vs Wolf Hawkins & Doc Hammond

TCW TV Title- Greg Gauge © vs Mighty Mo

-Although I think Gauge needs to drop the title, this one is never clean. Mo by DQ, or Gauge by interference? I'm going for the former, even though the latter will probably happen.

PREDICTION KEY

Aaron Andrews & Freddy Huggins vs Wolf Hawkins & Doc Hammond

gotta keep Freddy a threat here I think along with the fact that Doc just isn't the same level as the other 3.

TCW TV Title- Greg Gauge © vs Mighty Mo

I think Gauge goes over, but Mo as the champ wouldn't be terrible either. But you might be keeping Mo free for a run at Hawkins in the future.

Joshua Taylor vs Edd Stone

Just makes sense it will be JT here.

Davis Wayne Newton vs Benny Benson
