TCW presents Total Wrestling

Tuesday, Week Three, April 2020 - LIVE from Wisconsin Gardens

Attendance: 10,000 SELLOUT! - TV Rating: 3.80 on ACE; 0.43 on IC-TV

“The Committee Cowboy” Ricky Dale Johnson is out to open the show, taking a moment to talk about the blockbuster main event pitting TCW World Champion Aaron Andrews against TCW Television Champion Greg Gauge. RDJ announces for the first time that, if Greg Gauge wins the match, he’ll receive a TCW World title match at Where Angels Fear To Tread.

“But, that’s not why I’m out here right now,” he continues along with a change in tone. “I’m here to call out Jay Chord, and say enough’s enough. There ain’t no title match comin’ his way… some say it’s cuz you don’t negotiate with terrorists, but I liken it more to not givin’ in to a kid havin’ a tantrum.” Johnson goes on to list Chord’s recent crimes, including injuring Sammy Bach alongside Joshua Taylor and attempting to do the same last week to Edd Stone.

RDJ calls Chord out a few times, but no one emerges from the back until Joshua Taylor’s music hits and the Straight Edge Superstar enters the arena.

“No matter what you think, you washed up cowboy… you don’t call the shots around here! We do what we want, when we want… and, right now, Jay Chord doesn’t wanna come out here and listen to you run your mouth about your authority. We are wrestling royalty, Jay Chord, the King of Pro Wrestling, and me, the Black Knight!”

Taylor jaws at Johnson on his way down to ringside before climbing the steps and entering the squared circle, talking up Chord and himself while running down RDJ and the Championship Committee for not doing what’s best for business. During the promo, a light seems to go on for RDJ, and his posture changes from defensive to almost arrogant.

“Alright, alright,” RDJ finally waves off Taylor, who was still speaking. “Enough. I done heard enough outta you. Listen, kid, it’s like this… I’m about through listenin’ to you flap your gums, and I’m about ready to jack your jaws. I do run the show around here, and I just got a great idea. But I ain’t sayin’ a word about it to you without your spoiled brat little friend standin’ beside ya. So, it don’t matter, tonight, Saturday night… whenever you two get the inclination to do as your told, I’ll be ready to tell you and ol’ Jay what you’ll be doin’ at the pay-per-view.”

RDJ tips his cowboy hat and ducks out of the ring with a huge grin on his face.

The Supremacy is out following the break for a quick promo, hitting all their regular talking points about being the only “supreme” that matters before moving on to address their recent issues with Benny Benson and Flying Jimmy Foxx. Davis Wayne Newton says that last week was a fluke victory for Benson.

“It’s time for the supposed future of wrestling from ten years ago to make way for the present of pro wrestling,” Newton seethes. “It’s time for Jimmy Foxx to go the way of the buffalo, and it’s time for Benny Benson to enjoy early retirement. The sport doesn’t need you boys anymore… we got this!”

THE SUPREMACY

(JEREMIE COURTNEY & DAVIS WAYNE NEWTON) w/ AUSTIN SMOOTH

VERSUS

DEVINE FORTUNE

The Supremacy, particularly Davis Wayne Newton, show some previously unseen aggression in this match as they viciously beat on Daryl Devine and Chance Fortune while they have the upperhand. Devine Fortune have the crowd firmly behind them for much of the match, but it’s no help in the end as DWN makes a pinfall on Jimmy Foxx using the ropes for extra leverage.

T-Bone Bright is out next for a quick promo, taunting Doc Hammond and The Syndicate for daring to mess with him.

“I’mma take you out one-by-one if I have to, and I’mma start tonight with the Jock... Chris Flynn,” he scoffs. “I’mma beat your little errand boy something baaaad, you understand? Right now, I don’t care about Wolf Hawkins, I don’t care about no World title… right now, I want my revenge! I want Doc Hammond, you understand me?”

SEGMENT RATING: 68

T-BONE BRIGHT

VERSUS

CHRIS FLYNN

Chris Flynn sneaks into the ring from the crowd and attacks before the bell, taking the early advantage in the match. But, in the end, it is T-Bone Bright who stands tall, nearly decapitating The Jock with a T-Bone Lariat for the pinfall. Bright continues jawing at the camera after the match, daring Doc Hammond to step into the ring.

MIGHTY MO

HITMAN

ERNEST YOUNGMAN

DOC HAMMOND

VERSUS

FRANKIE PEREZ

Doc Hammond looked to quietly add another win to his record in this match, and was close to doing so before the music of T-Bone Bright hit and the crowd went nuts! Bright stepped out onto the entrance stage, motioning to Hammond in the ring and signalling that he wants his rematch. The distraction allowed Perez to lock in the P-Clutch and force Hammond to tap out while T-Bone Bright laughed atop the ramp.

DOGS OF WAR

VERSUS

THE SINNER SOCIETY

w/ EDDIE PEAK

Nick Booth takes all the bumps in this one, with Tana the Savage made to look… well, savage in his second in-ring appearance as a member of The Sinner Society. Eddie Peak does his best on the outside to cause a distraction and to get involved behind the referee’s back, but in the end the numbers game is no match for the sheer power of Dogs of War; a Bulldog Missile to Booth ends it in about ten minutes.

WINNERS: Dogs of War (10:02)

Immediately following the match, The Behemoths hit the ring and a five-on-two attack ensues as The Sinner Society dismantle Dogs of War in the middle of the ring. The attack ends by stacking Human Arsenal and One Man Army on top of one another for a vicious splash by Tana the Savage.

Wolf Hawkins is out after the break for some promo time, and the first thing he does is address Freddy Huggins.

“You think you’re cute, don’t you? You think you’re real, real smart… well, I’ll admit it: you’ve gotten under my skin, you little twerp. You’ve gotten lucky, and gotten a pinfall on me once or twice, and now you think you’re big time shit, don’t you?”

ZgJPGYa.jpg

Hawkins doesn’t get to speak for long before the music of Freddy Huggins hits and he comes out without his sister for the first time in a long time. He stands there with a smirk on his face for a moment before addressing Hawkins, saying he does, indeed, think he’s “big time shit.”

“I can tell your mad, Wolfie boy, so I’m going to give you what you want… but you’re gonna give me something in return,” Huggins says.

“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Hawkins inquires.

“It’s real simple… your dance card is empty for Where Angels Fear To Tread, you wanna avenge your losses and put me in my place? You and me, one-on-one… I win, I get your title shot because, make no mistake about it, me and Ace might be cool… but he still has something I want! You and me, Wolf? Well, I’ve pinned you, how many times now?”

Hawkins screams at Huggins off-mic and makes as if he’s going to leave the ring and head up the ramp towards him.

“Now, now, calm down… what I’m trying to say is, you beat me, I’ll shut my mouth… but do you really think you can do it? Was it really a fluke? Twice? Three times?”

“That’s enough!” Hawkins screams. “Alright, alright, you want it, you got it! I’ve defended this title shot for months now, and no one has been able to take my DESTINY from me! You won’t be any different! Hawkins versus Huggins… book it!”

JOSHUA TAYLOR

VERSUS

TROY TORNADO

Taylor looks to end this one early, but Tornado escapes his attempts at putting on the Butterfly Lock two times while commentary sells that no one has been able to break the hold once it’s clamped on except Aaron Andrews. Tornado looks good in this match as he heads towards his final encounter with Greg Gauge over the TCW Television title and, to the audible surprise of the crowd, picks up the win with his Star Maker finisher.

WINNER: Troy Tornado (12:53)

MATCH RATING: 72

AARON ANDREWS

VERSUS

GREG GAUGE

This was, without question, the best television main event of the year with Greg Gauge going all out to earn himself a TCW World title match at Where Angels Fear To Tread and Aaron Andrews out to prove, as always, why he is the Ace of TCW. Gauge’s offense centers around softening Andrews up for the Proton Lock, and Gauge himself narrowly avoids an Ace Crusher several times throughout the match.

At one point, Joshua Taylor comes out from the back but he doesn’t even make it to ringside before Ricky Dale Johnson comes out to chase him off. Commentators speculate that Taylor had come out to ensure that it was still possible for Jay Chord to get his wish, and RDJ is insistent that it won’t happen.

Later in the match, after centering his attacks on Andrews’ legs, Gauge manages to lock on the Proton Lock near the center of the ring! The Ace fights it and fights it, narrowly getting a rope break. While Gauge fumes and argues with the referee over not checking for a submission fast enough, Andrews recovers and comes out of nowhere with a kick to the midsection and an Ace Crusher for the win!

Andrews celebrates with his TCW World Championship belt after the match, asking the camera, “Who’s next?” as the show goes off the air.

WINNER: Aaron Andrews (17:32)

TCW Saturday Night Showcase

Saturday, Week Three, April 2020 - LIVE from Wisconsin Gardens

Announce Team: Shawn Doakes, Kyle Rhodes, and Jasmine Saunders

Attendance: 10,000 SELLOUT!- TV Rating: 3.41 on ACE; 0.38 on IC-TV

Show Rating: 89

This week’s edition of Saturday Night Showcase kicks off with the hottest heels in TCW, if not the entire business, Jay Chord and Joshua Taylor making their way to the ring. Chord has gone unseen for over a week, either hiding from “The Committee Cowboy” Ricky Dale Johnson or playing mind games with him depending on where you sit. Taylor starts off by telling the crowd to shut their mouths and show respect, explaining again that he and Jay Chord are wrestling royalty.

“Jay Chord did not come out here on Tuesday at the order of some cowboy, and he’s not out here to dance like a monkey for your entertainment now,” Taylor says. “Jay Chord is the KING of Pro Wrestling, and he responds to only one thing… GOLD!”

Taylor hands off the microphone to Chord, who repeats that he is wrestling royalty, and the only reason he’s decided to show up tonight is because he’s been offered a chance at championship gold.

“For being a dumb redneck, I’ve gotta hand it to ol’ Rick on this one… he finally figured out how to get my attention: gold. Not quite the gold I want, the gold it is my destiny to hold… but gold nevertheless,” Chord says. “Gold beneath me is still gold, and-- “

Before Jay Chord can continue, the sounds of bombs going off and dog barking signal the arrival of TCW Tag Team champions Dogs of War! The crowd goes wild as One Man Army and Human Arsenal step out onto the entrance ramp, each one holding their TCW Tag Team belt on the shoulder.

“Beneath you?” Arsenal questions as the Dogs pace atop the ramp. “These belts are the most important gold in tag team wrestling, but you see them as beneath you? See, that attitude is exactly why RDJ asked us to step into the ring and teach you two brats a lesson here tonight: you’re not royalty, you’re royal pains in the ass!”

After some brief back-and-forth, Dogs of War march towards the ring, but Chord & Taylor bail out through the crow. The team spend a moment jawing at each other, Dogs of War standing in the ring now while Chord and Taylor huddle together out in the crowd, the four wrestlers jawing angrily at one another as the commentators send us to break.

Greg Gauge is out with his TCW Television title after the Hocking/Goya match for some promo time. He rants about how Aaron Andrews got lucky on Tuesday, and says that if it wasn’t for poor officiating that he’d be standing before us as the first double-champion in TCW history.

“Instead,” he continues, “I’m now gearing up to face some hasbeen, rockstar wannabe for the umpteenth time because that’s such a good use of my talents. I have been the TCW Television Champion for eight… months… eight months! No one can or will take this belt away from me, and I won’t be giving it up until I take what’s mine… the seat at the head of the table. Keep setting them up, I’ll keep knocking ‘em down… and, Troy, you wanna keep getting up? I might have to put you down next time.”

Gauge concludes by saying that his next order of business is simple: the TCW World Championship. Whether it’s by avenging his unjust loss to Aaron Andrews or by toppling some other lesser wrestler, Greg Gauge will go down in history as THE Second-Generation Superstar of our time.

The commentary team pitch to a video from the injured Sammy Bach, who is sitting in a chair near a large window looking out on the ocean with his foot and lower leg in a cast, propped up on a stool and pillow. He looks out the window for a long moment before finally turning his attention to the camera.

“Six weeks,” he begins before pausing again. “Six weeks out of action for The Elation Sensation thanks to a couple of punks and a steel chair. But don’t you worry, boys… Jay, Joshua… I got your number now. I got your number, and it’s coming up when I get back. Six weeks, boys… you got six weeks until Bach is back, baby, and I’ll tell you this… Hell is coming with me! You hear me, boys? HELL IS COMING WITH ME!” Bach shouts, wincing as his emotion causes him to move his injured leg. “You got six weeks of TCW being your playground, and then recess is over!”

TCW TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

DOGS OF WAR

VERSUS

JAY CHORD & JOSHUA TAYLOR

Despite not being a regular team, Chord and Taylor worked like a well-oiled machine against the tag team champions here. They isolated One Man Army for a great deal of the bout, working him over on their side of the ring and preventing him from making a tag. Human Arsenal eventually does get a hot tag, but comes short of clearing house as Taylor pulls the referee in the way for a ref bump.

It’s all shenanigans from there, Chord taking out Arsenal with a chair and Taylor preparing to injure One Man Army as they had done to Sammy Bach.

Q6XX2us.jpg

But the crowd begins to roar, and “The Committee Cowboy” himself is on his way out to the ring, sleeves rolled up, and a steel chair of his own in hand! RDJ is the one who clears house this time, sending everyone scrambling out of the ring with wild swings. He calls for a microphone, and demands a new referee come out to restart the match… then levels Chord with a chair!

Charles Hapstander hits the ring and starts questioning why Johnson did that, but RDJ bails to ringside as Dogs of War go on the attack against Joshua Taylor, quickly setting him up for a Bulldog Missile and the pinfall.

WINNERS, AND STILL TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: Dogs of War (13:03)

MATCH RATING: 84

Ricky Dale Johnson quickly reenters the ring with a microphone, Chord and Taylor both writhing in pain on the mat now after the steel chair attack and Bulldog Missile respectively.

“You boys wanna play hardball? We’ll play hardball,” the Committee Cowboy seethes. “You actually think I was gonna let you steal some championship gold after makin’ me bribe you to get you to show up? Unh uh! Now, I realize I’m gonna have a Championship Committee to answer to for my actions here tonight, but you two petulant children needed a lesson-- and I ain’t done teachin’ yet!”

The crowd roars their approval as RDJ speaks, Chord and Taylor crawling towards a corner together and staring angrily at the Cowboy.

“Seems there are only a few people with win-loss records good enough to be deservin’ of a title match at Where Angels Fear to Tread… much to my chagrin, the two of you are top of that list. But, like I said, we’re gonna play hardball… therefore, the main event, this Tuesday night on Total Wrestling… number one contender’s match… Jay Chord… versus Joshua Taylor! How you like them apples, boys?”

Chord and Taylor are literally shaking with anger in the corner as they stare daggers at RDJ, who just tips his hat and exits the ring. The two allies have slowly made their way to their feet, and now they separate and start to look at one another as the realization sets in that they will face off this coming Tuesday!

<strong>Jay Chord</strong> and <strong>Joshua Taylor</strong> are out to start the show, looking confident and cohesive as they enter the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

“That stupid old cowboy played right into our hands,” Chord begins with a smug grin as Taylor nods along in agreement. “It’s taken weeks of plotting and prodding, but, finally, after tonight, it will be official… that, at Where Angels Fear to Tread, I fulfill my destiny when I--”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hold on, hold on, hold on…” Taylor interjects, reaching in to pull the microphone away from Chord. “Nothing about the pay-per-view is official until it’s official, and we’ve still got a main event tonight.” The crowd cheers at this hint of descension between the so-called King and Black Knight of professional wrestling.</p><p> </p><p>

“Josh, look, I thought we were in this toge--” Chord says with a twinge of surprise in his voice, but Taylor pulls the microphone towards him again.</p><p> </p><p>

“Jay, we see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, but me laying down for you tonight ain’t one of them,” Taylor announces as the crowd pops. “And if you’re half the King you claim to be, you wouldn’t want me laying down for you and depriving your people of a match between their King and the greatest professional athlete alive today, Joshua Taylor.”</p><p> </p><p>

The statement hangs in the air for a moment while Jay Chord fumes over it, but eventually he nods and forces a smile to his lips.</p><p> </p><p>

“You know what, Josh? You’re right; you’re right,” Chord agrees. “I am the King of Professional Wrestling, and that means I lay waste to all who challenge my throne… are you challenging my throne, Josh?”</p><p> </p><p>

Taylor smirks and shakes his head.</p><p> </p><p>

“No, Jay, you’re the King,” he says dismissively. “It’s just, y’know… you seem maybe a little… afraid?” Chord’s upper lip twitches with arrogant anger. “Are you worried you can’t break the Butterfly Lock? You know, you wouldn’t be the only one…”</p><p> </p><p>

“Alright, alright, look, look, look…” Chord waves Taylor off as he yanks the microphone away. “You’re right, Josh, this is just as much your opportunity as it is mine.” Taylor nods and mouths his agreement at that statement. “We both want the same thing… a little differently than I thought, but the same thing. Chord versus Taylor, number one contender match, winner stakes his claim for the TCW World Championship at the pay-per-view. May the best man win!”</p><p> </p><p>

Chord extends his hand, but Taylor hesitates to shake it as a moment of tension arises.</p><p> </p><p>

“The crowd is eating up the strain The Committee Cowboy has put on this unholy alliance,” Jason Azaria observes on commentary. “And I can’t help but think that, somewhere, the Cowboy himself is, too!”</p><p> </p><p>

The pair finally shakes hands, staring each other down all the while; Chord is the first to try and pull away, but Taylor yanks him in close, and they go nose-to-nose as the crowd screams for blood. Taylor nods and finally back off, turning to exit the ring; Chord clearly takes a second to contemplate a sneak attack with the microphone before shaking off the idea.</p><p> </p><p>

In Edd Stone’s first appearance since nearly being injured by Chord & Taylor, The 24 Hour Party Animal doesn’t quite seem to be himself despite Fonzarelli trying to cheer him up and get him partying. The differences between Fonzarelli and Stone prove to be their downfall in the match, with Jeremie Courtney picking up the pinfall victory for his team by putting Edd Stone on the mat.</p><p> </p><p>

Despite the problems during the match, there are no hints afterwards at more problems between The Love Machines as Fonzarelli helps Stone up and the crowd cheers them. But the cheers soon prove the be masking further commotion in the crowd, as <strong>Floyd Goldworthy</strong> makes his way to ringside with his megaphone, barking orders to someone offscreen.</p><p> </p><p>

“The Cobras!! The American Cobras are back!” Kyle Rhodes screams as <strong>Marvel Malloy</strong> and <strong>Storm Spillane</strong> slide into the ring and launch an assault on The Love Machines. The pair do a number on Danny Fonzarelli and throw him out of the ring before hitting Edd Stone with a Cobra Strike; Goldworthy jaws at the crowd about how great the Cobras are through his megaphone some more as the trio make their exit.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>T-Bone Bright</strong> is out after the break with <strong>Jasmine Saunders</strong> for an interview atop the entrance ramp. He says that he and Doc Hammond have been circling one another for weeks, and that after last week, he’s done playing games.</p><p> </p><p>

“I will be a thorn in your side for the rest of your career if you don’t step into the ring with me, Hammond,” Bright asserts. “Call yourself silent but violent… actions might speak louder than words, but I promise you I can stir up a ruckus like you ain’t never seen!”</p><p> </p><p>

Bright goes off on a rant for a moment before the music of The Syndicate hits, and Doc Hammond appears on the Total-Tron. A close-up of his face shows him sneering for a moment, lips curling, rage bubbling beneath the surface before he finally twitches and nods his head.</p><p> </p><p>

“See you on Sunday!” he seethes, Saunders announcing the match as official for the pay-per-view as Bright nods confidently. Saunders sends the show to commercial, announcing that a Television title match will take place when we come back.</p><p> </p><p>

Back from the break, and <strong>Ricky Dale Johnson</strong> makes his way out to the ring with a sullen look on his face.He explains that he’s been reprimanded for his actions last week by the Championship Committee, and that he’s on thin ice with them-- but it’s all worth it to see a plan come together.</p><p> </p><p>

“That little twerp Jay Chord thinks he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread, but he forgot a simple rule us cowboys have always lived by… don’t corner nothin’ meaner ‘n you,” RDJ smirks. “Did y’all see those two out here earlier? At each other's throats? And they’ve still gotta compete tonight! I knew those boys were competitors at heart, gotta give ‘em that at least.”</p><p> </p><p>

RDJ continues by talking about all the issues that led up to tonight, and then announces the main event of Saturday Night Showcase will be Chord & Taylor versus Aaron Andrews and Freddy Huggins.</p><p> </p><p>

“So, after tonight, boys… you still gotta co-exist on Saturday before you get to Sunday,” he grins. “Let that be a lesson to you boys… don’t mess with the bull, ‘cause you’ll get the horns. Which brings me to my last point: tonight, there must be a winner. No shenanigans, no non-finishes, nothing leading to a three-way dance. I promised the Championship Committee a one-on-one main event for Where Angels Fear to Tread by the end of the night, and that’s what we’re gonna have.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Malice can always find a mark to shoot at, and a pretence to fire,” Eddie Peak begins this week’s Sinner Sermon, surrounded by his full Sinner Society: Tana the Savage, Killer Shark, Titan, and Nick Booth. “You’d think a couple of guys who call themselves Dogs of War would know a thing or two about malice to teach their friend.” Tana the Savage sneers and nods, standing directly to Peak’s right, cracking his knuckles as Peak turns his focus to Mighty Mo.</p><p> </p><p>

“Mighty Mo is a proud man, but, another old adage says that pride goeth before the fall,” Peak proselytizes. “At Where Angels Fear to Tread… it will be time for the fall.”</p><p> </p><p>

Peak continues, hyping not only the pay-per-view matches, but tonight’s six man tag match as well. Peak ends, as always, by saying, “Blessed are the Sinners.”</p><p> </p><p>

Mighty Mo, Human Arsenal, and One Man Army look good against the Sinner Society, with Tana the Savage spending most of the match on the apron. Pre-main event there is a contract signing between <strong>Freddy Huggins</strong> and <strong>Wolf Hawkins</strong> for their pay-per-view encounter where Hawkins defends his World title shot once again; Huggins goaded Hawkins into the match after several pinfalls over The Alpha Wolf.</p><p> </p><p>

Huggins makes his entrance to the ring first, Hawkins out second with Jason Azaria presiding over the signing; a table is set up in the middle of the ring with a clipboard. Huggins is the first to pick it up, smirking as he scrawls his name on the line and tosses it back down.</p><p> </p><p>

“You know, Wolf, I don’t have much to say tonight,” Huggins begins. “Rare for me, I know… but, still, it bears repeating that I have beaten you not once, not twice, but thrice,” he says as he holds up three fingers for a moment. “Do you really think I can’t do it again?”</p><p> </p><p>

Hawkins’ lip curls before he picks up the clipboard, looking it over for a moment before he smacks Huggins across the face with it! As Jason Azaria calls for order on the mic, Hawkins continues his attack by putting the boots to Huggins before lifting him up and planting him through the table with a DDT! Jawing at the crowd as he paces back-and-forth for a moment, Hawkins finally finds the clipboard and signs the contract before tossing it down on Huggins’ heaped body. He snatches the microphone from Azaria and shoves him into the corner, stomping on Huggins one more time.</p><p> </p><p>

“I’ll see you on Sunday, you piece of shit!” he snarls, throwing the microphone down into the broken bits of table and writhing body of Huggins before he exits the arena with his head held high.</p><p> </p><p>
