Former UEW champion to open London promotion

LONDON, England - Two-time Ultimate European Wrestling tag team champion Jamie Anderson has announced the creation of a new promotion, ETERNAL Pro Wrestling, to be based in London.

Known throughout his wrestling career as "The Red Devil", the 48-year old Anderson retired last year to open up a butcher's shop in Nottingham. But clearly the passion still burns for him - and after 25 years in the ring, he was excited to return to wrestling in a new capacity.

"This sport gave me a lot for a long time, and I'm excited to have the chance to give a little bit back," Anderson said.

At the time of printing, no wrestlers or shows had been announced for Anderson's new venture, but "The Red Devil" gave some indication of what to expect.

"We're really going to celebrate the wrestling and the talent these guys have, but fans can also expect some big and diverse personalities - I think that's what they're crying our for", the long-time veteran of the UK independent circuit said. "There's so much talent in the UK right now, and I think there's a lot of guys who really deserve the chance to show what they can do."

As to where ETERNAL Pro Wrestling fits in, Anderson had this to say: "There's no doubt in my mind that there's space in this market. Part of the reason I had to go to Europe and link up with Beast [bantom] and the likes was because steady work just wasn't always here.

"Not everyone is going to get the chance with your 21CWs and the likes. At least not immediately. So this gives these guys more options and hopefully keeps them here on home soil."

Thank you to smw88 for his incredible set of free renders. A total lifesaver - given that the WMMA fan in me can't deal with using Stafford Alois and Tony McCall in a wrestling game!

Eight-man title tournament to head Anderson's ETERNAL Opener

LONDON, England - British upstart promotion ETERNAL Pro Wrestling has released the card for its inaugural show, ETERNAL Pro Wrestling: Genesis, which is set to take place on Feb. 2 at the Paddington Club in London.

Headlining the show will be a four-man elimination bout for the inaugural ETERNAL Title, with the spots in that bout being decided earlier in the night in four singles matches. Competitors include Louie Peyton of the famed 21CW tag team "The Assassin's Guild"; three-time SNP Tag Team champion "The Bad Man" Alton Vicious; exciting Cornwall cruiserweight Cain Carlile; and "The Brummie Behemoth" Quake, who primarily plies his trade with European outfit Victory Wrestling Association.

Jamie Anderson, the former tag partner of 21CW star Beast Banton and owner of the new promotion, told fans to be prepared for an action-packed night of wrestling.

"We're going to see some of the best wrestlers in Britain battle it out for the ETERNAL Title," Anderson said. "We've got a diverse mix of ultra-talented guys, and I am so excited to see who proves themselves to be one of the top wrestler on the UK scene."

Aside from the eight-man tournament, MMA fighter and former kick boxer "Violent" Vernon George will compete in singles action against Bryn Archer, a tough Welshman whose strength and maturity belies his 19 years of age. Elsewhere, exciting young tag team The Black Country Boys (Gazz Vedmore & Mickey Robson) will face off against an experienced team in Gavin Owen & Glen Ward, who have taken on the moniker of JUDO Squad.

ETERNAL Pro Wrestling: Genesis

From the Paddington Club, London

Hosted by Martin Bloydell

Vol. 1

WW0l9t8.png

The excitable Martin Bloydell, sitting alone, welcomes the fan to the first instalment of what he calls a “revolution in British wrestling“. He runs down the card, before the owner of ETERNAL Pro Wrestling himself, "The Red Devil" Jamie Anderson, comes to the ring with a microphone in hand. Anderson thanks the crowd for their support and explains how excited he is to present “some of the finest talents in all of British wrestling”. He says that tonight ETERNAL crowds its first ever champion, and promises the fans one heck of a show. [29]

WW0l9t8.png

Bryn Archer vs. Vernon George (with Mark Moore)

"Violent" Vernon George is accompanied to the ring by the former MOSC manager, Mark Moore. George is intense, and referee Humphrey Woolsey looks almost a bit intimidated as he enters the ring. Archer, meanwhile, is a bulky young man who looks well beyond his 19 years. Archer clearly expected a traditional wrestling affair, but his attempts at a lock up are met by a flurry of offence from George. It's ugly, it's ungainly, and the crowd doesn't really like it. Eventually, with Archer being beaten up in the corner, the referee stops the bout at 4:06. This was ugly. [5]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/MN0dt8D.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/SthULxr.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

After the bout, Moore slides into the ring and explains that his client, a former kick boxing champion, "loves to hurt people" and says that "there isn't anyone in Britain who can stop him”. He issues an open challenge for the next ETERNAL show, but warns that George’s next opponent “is going to end up like this kid”. [29]

ETERNAL Title Tournament - Louie Peyton vs. Ripper LeStat

The first of the title tournament matches sees “The Predator” Louie Peyton face off against Ripper LeStat. Peyton is a muscular 33-year old, best known for his time with 21CW as one half of “The Assassins’ Guild”. LeStat, meanwhile, is better known for his violent brawls - and he appeared in the ring here after the lights briefly turned off, playing some sort of vampiric role. He toned down his usual excesses and spent most of the match trying to sink his teeth into Peyton’s neck. “The Predator” did his best to long disgusted, and after a reasonable bout put Ripper away with a Powerbomb at 9:57. He will compete into tonight’s four man elimination bout for the title. [30]

WW0l9t8.png

BPswm7D.jpgUaUWlrL.png8WSuYHF.jpg

ETERNAL Title Tournament - JK Lee vs. Neil Warburton

Lee is accompanied to the ring by his real life girlfriend Kitty Katz. He’s the smaller man here against the bulky 23-year old Warburton, who has a real old school style. The two combined well in a reasonable match that gets the crowd involved, Warburton using all the tricks in the book to stop Lee from taking control. But Lee is the bigger star here and he’s too fast for Warburton, eventually drawing a submission win with the Crossface at 8:48. [38]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/BPswm7D.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/HxHY4or.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

After the match, Lee is joined in the ring by Katz. He stumbles over his words, but eventually says he’s looking forward to making the other three men in tonight’s main event tap as he becomes the first ever ETERNAL Champion. [14]

ETERNAL Title Tournament - Alton Vicious vs. Sharif

Known as “The Bad Man”, Vicious is the biggest man we’ve seen so far tonight. He’s accompanied to the ring by Mo Adebola, who is a regular manager on the independent circuit. His opponent, Sharif, is known as “The Hardcore High Flyer”, and is known for taking breathtaking risks and risky bumps. He plays it straight here, though, in a match that doesn’t quite suit him. Aside from a couple of brief comebacks from Sharif, Vicious controls most of the match - although a botched move seems to cause him legitimate pain in his lower back. He wins anyway with a Snap Tackle at 6:04. [25]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/VJ5YAMQ.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/g8wKZZk.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

After the match, Adebola introduces himself as Vicious’ personal lawyer and agent, and promises that his client will take home the title in tonight’s main event. [17]

WW0l9t8.png

iH2Epxf.jpgUaUWlrL.pngeXwelOq.jpg

ETERNAL Title Tournament - Cain Carlile vs. Quake

The two young men do battle for the final spot in tonight’s title match, but their appearances and styles couldn’t be any different: Quake is a giant of a man with arms as thick as most men’s legs, while “Captain Crash” Carlile is a lightly built high flyer. There is a real clash of styles here, but Carlile bumps all over the ring for “The Brummie Behemoth” who dominates with his powerhouse style. But it’s a shock at the end, as Carlile manages to climb out of the top of a powerbomb from Quake and roll him up for a shock pinfall at 7:40. [25]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/iH2Epxf.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/eXwelOq.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

Quake looks to exact revenge following his shock loss, but Carlile manages to escape - celebrating all the way back through the curtain as he books a surprising spot in tonight’s main event title match. [27]

WW0l9t8.png

PexJ8Em.jpgXN2nMyq.jpgUaUWlrL.pnghOVP2AO.jpg0HyY55h.jpg

The Black Country Boys (Gazz Vedmore & Mickey Robson) vs. JUDO Squad (Gavin Owen & Glen Ward)

Vedmore & Robson are an exciting young tag team, although Vedmore is the better physical specimen. On the other side of the ledger, Owen & Ward are an experienced pairing - Gavin Owen is a legitimate former Olympic judoka, while Ward has made a career out of pretending that he’s one too. The two teams put on a good bout, although it’s standard tag team wrestling for the most part as Vedmore finds himself outnumbered for most of the bout by the experienced duo. He manages to get the hot tag eventually, and Robson makes the comeback to secure the win - hitting Ward with a short arm lariat at 12:06. [33]

g8wKZZk.jpgiH2Epxf.jpgBPswm7D.jpgYMgOnK6.jpeg

ETERNAL Title - Alton Vicious vs. Cain Carlile vs. JK Lee vs. Louie Peyton

This is elimination rules with the inaugural ETERNAL title on the line. Interestingly, Vicious seems to be the only heel in this bout, after Carlile, Lee and Peyton all played babyface roles earlier in the night. All four men get spots in early in a high energy start, but they soon peel off into effectively two singles matches - Vicious battling Peyton, while the smaller duo of Carlile and Lee face off elsewhere. Lee is the first man to be eliminated, his attempted Crossface on Carlile is reversed into a small package at 6:04, giving Carlile his second flash pinfall win of the night and upsetting poor Kitty Katz. Carlile teams up with Peyton against Alton Vicious, although the two soon turn on each other as Peyton sends Lee to the outside with a clothesline. He then looks to take control over Vicious, but with the referee distracted by Carlile’s predicament outside the ring, Mo Adebola strikes Peyton with a briefcase allowing Vicious to pounce with his Snap Tackle at 11:33. Vicious still looks sore from his injury early in the night, but he faces off with Carlile in an old school David vs. Goliath battle. Carlile briefly looks like he could pull off a huge upset - a sunset flip on Vicious falling ever so short of a three count. But he’s caught coming off the top rope by Vicious who slams him into the mat and then puts him away with the Snap Tackle at 16:18 to win the title. [34]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/VJ5YAMQ.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /> <img src="https://i.imgur.com/g8wKZZk.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" />

After the match, Jamie Anderson presents Vicious and Adebola with the inaugural ETERNAL Title, but Vicious shows him no respect and proceeds to celebrate in front of a disappointed crowd to end ETERNAL Pro Wrestling’s first show. [29]

<img src="https://i.imgur.com/IDmoifj.png" alt="" width="75" height="25" />

Overall, a reasonable start for the young promotion. Vernon George probably wasn’t the man to start the show, and the crowd didn’t like the shoot style at all. But apart from that it was solid wrestling and Vicious came out looking like a star. Show Rating: [32]</div>

Backstage, Martin Bloydell catches up with Louie Peyton, who is sitting alone backstage holding an icepack to his head, and asks him how he’s feeling.

It's fair to say that "The Predator" is fuming.

“Let’s not beat around the bush. I came to ETERNAL Pro Wrestling because I want to win titles. I want to show that I’m not just a great tag team wrestler, I’m also a great singles wrestler. But tonight I had my chance to show that - to to prove that - taken from me.

Now, I’m not saying I had Alton beat. But I had a bloody good chance of knocking him off, and I had a bloody good chance of winning the ETERNAL Title. And the only I reason I didn’t do that was because of his grubby little lawyer.

“So Martin, if you want to ask how I’m feeling: I’m sitting here with a great big lump on the side of me head and no title. So Martin, I am mad. Alton Vicious, I’m not going to stop until I take what is rightfully mine. And if I take out Mo Adebola on the way… Well, that’s just an added bonus.” [34]

Elsewhere, Martin Bloydell catches up with Cain Carlile, who came so very close to capturing the ETERNAL Title in the main event. Bloydell asks “Captain Crash” how he’s feeling about his evening.

“Marty, I am gutted! Don't get me wrong, Alton Vicious is a tough customer, but I was milliseconds away for beating him and winning the ETERNAL Title.

“But look, I've got to look at the positives: this was a hell of a good night for me. You know, people didn’t give me a chance in hell against a giant like Quake. And while he gave me a hell of beating, I still found a way to win. And in the main event, I was the smallest man there and no one gave me a chance there either - but you saw how close I came to winning the title.

“I’ve got a taste of it now, Marty. I know what I can do, the fans know what I can do and now, most importantly, the other lads in the locker room know what I can do. So yeah I’m gutted, I’m disappointed, but this was a good night for Captain Crash. And there’s plenty more of them to come.” [27]

Great start. I like Carlile as an underdog who can get a cheeky upset win, and thee right man went over in the main event. Although Peyton was screwed!

Thank you! Apart from the huge miss with George/Archer (ratings wise at least), I'm happy with how the show turned out. I love the render I'm using for Carlile (thanks again smw88), so hopefully he will stick around.

Card for ETERNAL Pro Wrestling 2 finalised; Vicious/Carlile to headline

LONDON, England - British independent promotion ETERNAL Pro Wrestling will make its second outing on May 9 with ETERNAL Pro Wrestling: Forever & Ever from The Garage in Islington.

Fresh off their debut card in February, "The Bad Man" Alton Vicious will defend the ETERNAL Title for the first time, against young high flyer Cain Carlile. Carlile surprised many by making it to the final two in the four man elimination match at ETERNAL Pro Wrestling: Genesis, but fell short of claiming the title as Vicious put him down for the count with a Snap Tackle. But the 23-year old daredevil has promised to come back stronger than ever, and says he's primed to claim the title.

In other action, "The Predator" Louie Peyton faces off against giant Russian Jakub Krawczyk in singles action. Peyton expressed his frustration after being struck by Alton Vicious' manager Mo Adebola in the main event back in February, but would do well to focus on Krawczyk who, like Peyton, is a tag team champion - winning the UCR Tag Team titles three times as "The Big Bad" along with Scheming Behemoth.

Krawczyk isn't the only veteran to make his debut at Forever & Ever, as Leeds wrestler Keith Adams makes his EPW debut against Ripper LeStat. Adams is best known for his stint in 21CW more than a decade ago, but has since been plying his trade with intermittent appearances on the independent circuit. Now 46, he faces the terrifying prospect of facing Ripper LeStat in one-on-one action. LeStat was unsuccessful in his EPW debut against Peyton, but seemed to spend most of his time trying to sink his teeth - literally - into the neck of "The Predator", apparently convinced that he's a vampire.

In other action, Vernon George hosts an MMA challenge, this time against street fighter Bam Bam Picalo; and in six-man action, the JUDO Squad teams with striker "Marvellous" Myles Cross against the team of JK Lee, Bryn Archer and Lee's occasional tag partner Padraig O'Hearne.

ETERNAL Title: Alton Vicious © vs. Cain Carlile.

Can't see you doing a title change this soon, and this loss starts Carlile's long journey to finally get the title sometime down the road

Jakub Krawczyk vs. "The Predator" Louie Peyton.

I think Peyton is deserving of the next title shot, and if he can win here, that'll cement it.

Bryn Archer, JK Lee & Padraig O'Hearne vs. JUDO Squad (Gavin Owen & Glen Ward) & Myles Cross.

Tough one to call, but I see Lee and O'Hearne as decent talents, and Bryn Archer could get a decent win here.

"Rock Solid" Keith Adams vs. Ripper LeStat.

LeStat is a lunatic, and although Adams's blood may be old, it's still drinkable.

MMA Challenge: "Violent" Vernon George vs. "Bam Bam" Picalo.

I'm guessing he's going to do a bunch of these to build him up until eventually someone gets a shock win over him.

Now we've got an idea of who fits in where, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Keith Adams vs. Ripper LeStat

A veteran of the British independent circuit, “Rock Solid” Keith Adams is making his first appearance here. Even at 46, he’s still in reasonable shape, though he looks outsized by his hooded opponent. LeStat, allegedly a vampire (although this is unconfirmed), competes in a bodysuit which hugs all the wrong places. He dominates the match with a mixture of powerful moves and underhanded tactics, but he again falters as he tries to sink his fangs into Adams’ neck. The veteran reverses out and nails the Arrested Development (a DDT) for the win at 9:45. [27] Adams looks disgusted after the match, having nearly become LeStat’s first victim.

Meanwhile, Martin Bloydell is joined in the ringside interview area by “The Predator” Louie Peyton. Peyton makes clear that he’s “laser-focused” on his bout with Jakub Krawczyk later tonight, but he’s also got one eye on getting revenge against Alton Vicious and Mo Adebola. Peyton says that his loss at Genesis is still “stuck in my craw”, and he reiterates that he had a chance at the title taken away from him by Adebola’s nefarious tactics.

That prompts the ETERNAL Champion Alton Vicious to emerge, flanked by his personal lawyer, Mo Adebola. Adebola does all the talking: he reminds Peyton that “there are important laws against libel in this country” and that “as a lawyer, you would do well to tread very carefully”. Adebola says Peyton would be better off making sure he can take care of Krawczyk later tonight - and promises to be watching intently at ringside. [20]</div>

Ahead of the next bout, a short and very odd video package shows of Bam Bam Picalo on the streets of London. He apparently explains his rough upbringing, and says that while he’s the underdog he’s ready to knock Vernon George out with his hands. I say apparently - this was shown at very low volume on a screen hardly visible to the fans in attendance. [0]</div>

Bam Bam Picalo vs. "Violent" Vernon George w/ Mark Moore

Despite his promises, this is a slaughter. Picalo is even shorter than George and incredibly lightly built. George explodes on him with strikes - and while Picalo is brave enough to stagger back to his feet on a few occasions, he’s knocked down by a savate kick from George which forces the stoppage at 5:01. Jakub Krawczyk vs. Louie Peyton

Adebola is on commentary with Martin Bloydell. While he’s also 46 years old, in contrast to Keith Adams, Krawczyk is not agile, but is still an impressive sight despite his advancing years. It’s a slow affair, but there’s some good heat. Krawczyk gets most of his usual spots in - dominating Peyton in the corner with chops and slaps and throwing him around the ring with armdrags. Meanwhile, Mo Adebola spends most of the match criticising “The Predator” for his lack of fight. He’s proven wrong, though, as Peyton fights back and puts Krawczyk down on the mat with an awkward looking flying crossbody. That’s enough for the win at 6:20. [28]

This is a slow, plodding affair as Krawczyk spends most of the match dominating Peyton in the corner with chops and throwing him to the mat. Peyton, though, fights back and ends up finally putting Krawczyk down on the mat with an ugly looking flying crossbody for the win at 6:20.

After the match, Louie Peyton has some choice words to say to Mo Adebola over the top rope. He’s challenging the lawyer for a fight - and for a moment, it looks like Adebola is up for it! But’s all a ruse, as Krawczyk comes from behind and clubs Peyton over the back with a double axe-handle, before hitting him with a Mighty Side Suplex to leave “The Predator” down and out! Bryn Archer, JK Lee & Padraig O'Hearne vs. JUDO Squad (Gavin Owen & Glen Ward) & Myles Cross

An entertaining bout up next, as JUDO Squad teamed with "Marvellous" Myles Cross to take on the team of JK Lee, Padraig O'Hearne & Bryn Archer. Lee & O'Hearne put in an excellent performance, going toe-to-toe with the experienced JUDO Squad in some exciting exchanges. Cross and Archer were a step behind, and found themselves on the receiving end of some punishment as the match continued. Archer, though, showed his toughness to work his way back into the match, and found himself in control against the more experienced Gavin Owen. But as he went up to the top rope, Owen's partner Glen Ward provided the distraction - giving Cross enough time to push Archer from the top turnbuckle. That was enough for Owen to spring to his feet and hit Archer with the Harai-goshi Judo Throw for the win at 17:36 - Lee & O'Hearne cut off before they could break up the pinfall. [36] JUDO Squad celebrates unceremoniously after the bout with Cross, while Lee & O'Hearne check on the fallen Archer - clearly irate at the result.

ETERNAL TITLE MATCH

Alton Vicious © w/ Mo Adebola vs. Cain Carlile

That brought us to the main event, in a rematch of sorts as "The Bad Man" Alton Vicious defended his ETERNAL Title against Cain Carlile, the man he pinned at Genesis to claim the title. In a classic David vs. Goliath battle, Vicious showed his impressive strength as he physically dominated his opponent while Adebola looked on approvingly. But his confidence got the better of him at times, giving Carlile the opening on a number of occasions as "Captain Crash" looked to wear the champion down with some athletic offence. He managed to put Vicious down on the mat with a running bulldog and headed to the top rope to hit the Mark of Cain (Senton Bomb) - only to land painfully on the champion's knees! Vicious then planted him with a pumphandle slam before finishing with a Snap Tackle to retain the title at 13:34. [40] Match of the night.

After the match, a pumped up looking Alton Vicious celebrated his first title defence, with his personal lawyer Mo Adebola spruiking his credentials. However, he then turned his attention to the beaten Cain Carlile who was propped up in the corner - squishing him with a running splash! The crowd booed as Vicious started to beat on Carlile - only for "The Predator" Louie Peyton to come staggering out! He was still hurt from his beating at the hands of Jakub Krawczyk earlier, but his presence was enough to make Adebola motion for his client to exit the ring - the show ending with Peyton checking on Carlile, as Vicious and Adebola retreated up the ramp.[28]</div>

Martin Bloydell is backstage with JUDO Squad, who were still dressed in their gis. He asks how they are feeling following their first victory in ETERNAL Pro Wrestling.

"Tonight, we showed London exactly what we are capable of," Glen Ward says. "We are two of the finest athletes in the country - two legitimate athletes. And we showed tonight that there's a massive difference between what we can do, and what everyone else can do."

Bloydell then makes the mistake of reminding JUDO Squad that, on one view, they only one because their partner Myles Cross pushed Bryn Archer off the top rope while the referee wasn't looking.

Gavin Owen takes umbrage with that.

"What are talking about? I am an Olympian! You aren't seriously suggesting what I think you're suggesting, are you," he asks. Bloydell assures him that he is not.

"We are one of the finest tag teams in all of Britain. We are legitimate athletes. And we showed tonight that what happened at Genesis was -- it was an aberration. And it will never happen again." [21]

ETERNAL Pro Wrestling returns for third helping at Autumn Assault

LONDON, England - ETERNAL Pro Wrestling will return for its third show on Sep. 13 from The Garage in Islington, with Autumn Assault.

The card sees a tag team main event match as reigning ETERNAL Champion Alton Vicious teams up with Jakub Krawczyk to face title contenders, Cain Carlile & Louie Peyton.

Known as Team Integrity, Carlile & Peyton are looking for revenge against Vicious & Krawczyk who both staged post match attacks at ETERNAL's last outing in May. This time there will be nowhere for any of the four men to hide - but don't be surprised if Alton Vicious' personal lawyer Mo Adebola finds away to involve himself again.

Elsewhere, "Rock Solid" Keith Adams and Marvellous Myles Cross make their second appearance with the up-and-coming promotion, meeting in singles action. Adams turned back the clock to fight off the vampiric Ripper LeStat at Forever & Ever, while Cross played a key role in his team's win over Bryn Archer, JK Lee & Padraig O'Hearne. It's a big opportunity for young Cross, who is eager to prove his credentials.

In other action, JUDO Squad's Gavin Owen & Glen Ward will combine to face off against Lee & O'Hearne, who are known as The Firetrucks(apparently due to their shared history in the Ring of Fire Dojo). The Firetrucks will be out for revenge having lost in controversial circumstances at Forever & Ever, where JUDO Squad benefited from an illegal manouvre from Myles Cross.

Finally, rounding out the card, Ripper LeStat will again be out for blood, this time facing "The Hardcore High Flyer" Sharif who is back for his second outing with ETERNAL; and Bam Bam Picalo & Bryn Archer combine as The Street Toughs to face new faces The Pretty Pair, Jon Michael Sharp & Martin Heath.

Nice second show, building the main feuds well. I don't know if Krawczyk is going to be a major player, but as a heater for Vicious he could be great. Also, no MMA challenge this time?

Peyton to get the pin and set him up for a title match

JUDO Squad (Gavin Owen & Glen Ward) vs. The Firetrucks (JK Lee & Padraig O'Hearne)

JUDO Squad got the win thanks to their tag partner, I think this time they'll fail.

I thought Adams might have been fodder for LeStat, but as he got the win there, he might get another here.

Archer and Picalo have no chance. This is JM Sharp and Martin Heath, one of the best duos in the country.

Not sure what to think of LeStat. Looks like he's going to fail in his vampire thing until finally he gets a bite of success.
