America at War [C'Verse, Multiplayer]

In all my years covering professional wrestling, I don't think I've ever encountered something quite like this. The entire American wrestling landscape turned upside down over a weekend. I promise you, this news will shock you and you'll probably think I'm lying but I'm not. This is all genuine happenings.

w4UKNjU.jpg

Let's start with the unquestioned number one in all of pro wrestling -- United States Pro Wrestling. The Allen Packer led USPW has been on a roll under booker and World Champion, Rich Money, but as of this past Saturday, Rich Money is out as booker for USPW and Alicia Strong has been given the position. The daughter of former USPW owner Sam Strong, Alicia Strong has been the foundation of the women's division in USPW and despite being perhaps the most well-booked and protected wrestler in the entire world over the past several years, there was concern within the organization that Alicia Strong was looking to jump to the CWA when her contract was up. In an attempt to keep his top woman happy, Allen Packer made the switch. Rich Money was said to be upset but ultimately understanding of the news.

The Jerry Eisen led SWF made an equally shocking decision when he removed his brother Eric Eisen from the position of headbooker. Those inside SWF site Jerry's fear that the top of the SWF roster is old and hasn't shown a lot of development with their youth department. He also was unhappy with the way Eric has treated RIPW talent. Tapped to be the new head booker of SWF is second-generation star Matty Faith. Matty Faith wasn't someone anyone had even heard was on the booking radar but Jerry Eisen is said to be very high on Matty's creative streak as well as making sure the Faith family stays loyal to SWF with all of the money that USPW can throw around these days.

The final big move came from the BriCo owned Total Championship Wrestling. With the loss of Rocky Golden and the shift in their product into being a more classic Southern style promotion, it was said that CEO Kyle Rhodes and BriCo's wrestling division wanted to see the company embrace someone more in the Southern vein. Their pick? Independent wrestling talent The Historian. This move comes as perhaps the most head scratching as The Historian only has a few years in the wrestling business; however, Kyle Rhodes was said to be very impressed by the young man on a trip to MAW for their yearly The Night of the Champions. Brent Hill will stay on as assistant booker and producer for Total Championship Wrestling.

With all three companies making such drastic moves over the same weekend as we head into 2020, it is clear that the wrestling war in America is about to shift. Will USPW continue to ride their financial backing to being the number one company in the world? Will a newly reenergized SWF roster manage to reclaim the top spot, or will the shift to Southern-style wrestling propel TCW to the number one spot it has never been able to claim?

We will have to keep watching.

This is a multiplayer, war game, featuring myself as the booker of TCW, DarK_RaideR controlling Matty Faith and the booking of SWF, and Sco_xY2Jx as Alicia Strong and USPW. There is no alliance. There is only a war at the top of the American wrestling landscape.

We are playing with the default 2020 database. No add ons to keep everything balanced. We are playing as the bookers so that owner goals and performance matters. Budgets matter.

We do have some ground rules.

Rules

1. In the month of January 2020, each company can sign five talents. After that, each company can sign three talents (maximum) per month (excluding dojo graduates).

2. We are allowed to offer a maximum of three offers to any individual talent. After the third offer, there is no countering.

3. We are playing with mandatory pre-booking for events and tv and strict storyline usage on to make us all have to play to our products.

If we add any rules, they will be updated there.

We will NOT be sharing roster pages as we feel that using the default database means the initial rosters and champions are already well known; however after shows/events we will post an update with our champions.

We will post updates of signings and releases/leavings as news posts. There may be some occasional narratives sprinkled in but we are looking to present a wrestling war for our audiences.

We all have experience doing multiplayer diaries.

Sco and I currently are involved in The Coalition where we are in an alliance.

DarK_RaideR and I have done several projects together -- two women's dynasties and a joint SCCW venture being our most prominent.

We hope you enjoy America at War.

I need to make a confession.

I kind of hate SWF.

I've never been thrilled with the way Vince McMahon has been booking the WWF/E since winning the Monday Night War, or the way he's been running business since forever, so there's an unavoidable spillover towards SWF as it is to a large extent the CVerse equivalent. It's sports entertainment. It's been on top for most of the time, until the rise of USPW. It's been family-run, with a ruthless man on top, raiding talent and buying out competitors. It's got a child promotion, a dojo and a performance center, yet still somehow manages to waste young talent upon its call up to the main roster. I could go on with the similarities.

What I'm getting at is this is going to be a welcome challenge. I've never ran a major company in TEW before, biggest has been my Road to Glory one in TEW16 which made it to Cult level, but I'd built it from the ground up and knew its every detail. I've never even checked out the SWF roster before, or followed their people's evolution throughout versions of the game. It feels very much like an actor being cast against type, given a role that goes directly against what they personally believe and/or usually portray.

It's great to be doing a diary again end exciting to be involved with the likes of Historian and Sco_xY2Jx for it, on top of the challenge of playing as SWF for the aforementioned reasons, plus the competitive nature of our three way war. We hope you enjoy!

The 1-star bandit has struck. #blessed

I'll preface my presentation and offering of USPW with this:

Of the big 3 to play with and book for USPW would have been at the bottom of the list. I've never played USPW in any iteration of TEW before until running the Coalition diary and booking the 05' version of USPW. I've played big companies before and tried to present them. HGC and 21CW were the latest dynasty efforts that fell by the wayside due to a myriad of issues. Life admin, illness etc. I've read other USPW efforts over the years (AngelDelayettes) being the most well-known of them. I also usually only play exclusively as the owner for the utmost freedom so, similarly to DarK_RaideR, playing as the booker with owner goals on is going to provide a big challenge and maybe it's one that I need. But... oh man is Allen Packer a mean boss with slightly unfair expectations.

But hey! USPW is sitting on top of the world. We don't need to go to war with anyone. But in the words of the illustrious Scott Hall.

"You wanna go to war? You want a war? You're gonna get one!"

Well I don't expect to do very well since you guys are just putting up your first shows and haven't seen the direction you will be going. Hopefully I will get at least the The Behemoths vs Local Jobber match unless the locals are a secret super over tag team.

Hey y'all,

Looking forward to this project. It looks like a lot of fun. I am sure you know which company I will be rooting for. LOL. I don't know a whole lot about the TCW roster. With that said, here's the first batch of predictions...

Main Event

Eight Man Tag

Twenty Minute Time Limit

Aaron Andrews, Sammy Bach, & Devine Fortune versus Wolf Hawkins, Jay Chord, & The Elite

A member of Devine Fortune takes the loss by Wolf Hawkins.

TCW Total Wrestling

Wk. 1, Jan 2020</strong></span></p><p><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Aal4iB6.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">by Steven Henry Tyner</span></p><p><br /><span style="color: #ffffff;">Total Championship Wrestling broadcast their first episode of <em>Total Wrestling</em> in 2020 last night on ACE. They ran this show in Denver, Colorado at the Denver Coliseum. There were <strong>7,993</strong> tickets sold for the show and another 2,007 comps for a full capacity show. Early numbers say that the show did a <strong>3.07 or 2,306,030 viewers</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/OSh23zp.jpg" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TkZ5h7q.jpg" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mFlBaI9.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6dwEbqe.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">The show started with Desert Storm and Sgt. Bubba Lee West in the ring to challenge The Behemoths in a non-title match. Storm and Bubba do not work for TCW and were just in for the night and man did they get whipped here. They didn't get any offense in on the tag champs who just completely ate them alive. It was clear from the set up that Killer Shark was designed to look like the star of the match and he certainly did. He hit the Big Bite on Bubba Lee and got the pin in 3:36. I'd give this match a <strong>38</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8FhSRaQ.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">After the opening match, we were taken backstage to Troy Tornado. He complained about not having a match tonight and said a wrestler of his caliber and experience should have a match every week -- that without him TCW would be nothing. He demanded a match next week. It was a solid enough promo from the veteran but I just don't feel and ooph from him anymore. Maybe the regime change in booking can save him, but I don't have a lot of hopes. I'd give his promo a <strong>65</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/L6O6iWQ.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vbQjRgB.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Our third segment of the night had Benny Benson against Marc Speed. This was a good match for what it was -- something to give Benny a win on TV. They've been building to Benny challenging for the TV Title against Greg Gauge and this was just another step getting them there. The crowd liked this though and they responded to Benny well. He hit the Shockave From Next Year and got the pin in 7:57. I'd give this a <strong>64</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/L6O6iWQ.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">After winning, Benny Benson took the microphone and put Mark Speed over as a great wrestler but that tonight just wasn't his night. Then he turned his attention to Greg Gauge. Benny says that he knows Greg's father. He respects Sam, but he doesn't like Greg's attitude and while Greg may be a great wrestler, Benny wants him in the ring. The promo did it's job but it's hard to buy Benny Benson as a threat to Greg Gauge. I'd give this promo a <strong>54</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><strong><img src="https://i.imgur.com/sGcMC7c.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mFlBaI9.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/6dwEbqe.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mI7hMWp.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Next we went backstage to The Sinner Society so Eddie Peak could cut one of his rambling, insane, almost satanic worshiping promos. This one about how they're going to sacrifice Mighty Meat at the altar of sin. It was uncomfortable and rambly and man how terrible of a team name is Mighty Meat. Also, the Sinner Society just doesn't make sense. None of them look right together and I wouldn't be surprised if the group isn't broken up shortly. I've heard the new regime isn't big on them all together. I'd give the promo a <strong>56</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/uQgcGE2.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ChwmZH1.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We went back to the ring for our third match of the night and this one pit Edd Stone against Yuri Yoshihara. The crowd really didn't care about this match at all. They don't really know Yuri and they didn't buy him as a threat to Edd. Edd's also just kind of treading water ever since the break up with Freddy. I did hear a rumor that there is a feud planned for him against a new hire so maybe that will jump start him or at least give him something to do other than try to get a good match out of a green wrestler. Edd hit his Party's Over and won in 7:10. An underwhelming <strong>42</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/L0QvofJ.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/JZfYoY5.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We got back to back matches, with Elliot Thomas taking on The Historian up next in what was clearly the new booker doing some self-service because absolutely no one in the crowd knew who he was or really cared to see him. I also don't understand why he wears a cowboy hat but has a gimmick that isn't a cowboy gimmick? He did his best to look like a heel and work like a heel, but the crowd didn't really respond to much of anything. He's a solid enough wrestler for a guy with his experience, but I hope he's not planning on trying to make the show about him. He hit his Blast from the Past, which is a nice looking move. It's a Running Knee Lift into a Neckbreaker that fits his know-it-all-old-school gimmick nicely and got the pin in 4:48. A dud of a match though. <strong>29</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/YYf7TF8.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/OcDyQF8.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We went backstage again after this to the locker room of the TCW World Heavyweight Champion Aaron Andrews. The Ace didn't ignore that the camera was there, instead he thanked the camera man for coming to his locker room so he could address Wolf Hawkins. That was a nice touch and definitely helps separate TCW from the Sports Entertainment minded style of their competition. As Andrews was talking about Wolf, one of his partners for the night Sammy Bach came in to see if Ace was ready for the main event. Ace assured Sammy he was and then asked Sammy if he had anything he wanted to say and Sammy Bach really went in on Jay Chord. He ran him down with all the energy he could muster in what turned out to be a really good segment between the two lead babyfaces of TCW. I'd easily give this an <strong>82</strong> and man did it make me excited for the main event. </span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/rt9uAOs.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/nNbd5OG.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">After the promo we got T-Bone Bright versus Maverick in what was a classic wild Southern brawl. From the way the match was presented, I think The Historian must be high on T-Bone, because the announcers kept putting over T-Bone's athletic pedigree. Bright was clearly protected here and I wouldn't be surprised if they're not building Bright for some sort of championship run. The crowd was really responding to T-Bone as well, so maybe they're on to something here. TCW badly needs to make new stars and badly needs new babyfaces -- they've got Aaron and Sammy and then there is no one really waiting in the wings and no young talent that's up there so maybe T-Bone can be that guy for them. He got the win in 10:20 after hitting the powerslam. A solid <strong>59</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/O8YnpRE.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/MDk4GEY.jpg" alt="" width="90" height="90" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/Tufelxm.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/C8jAYhM.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1SQ7OJj.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/TDVHhXp.jpg" alt="" width="75" height="75" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We were treated to a joint promo between Jay Chord and Wolf Hawkins here. Hawkins was flocked by the rest of the Syndicate -- including The Elite who will be in the main event with him, but they didn't talk at all. Instead, Chord and Hawkins did and man were they brilliant. Wolf Hawkins clearly learned from Cornell but it was Chord who was particularly impressive. He has all the charisma of his father but he's also reaching a new level as a heel. He's really finding himself and he launched into Sammy Bach about being a man just trying to hold on to whatever little bit of glory he had in his prime and something about taking him behind the barn and putting him out of his misery and it was just wonderful. Great promo. <strong>85.</strong></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/8yy9vsl.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mI7hMWp.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Coming off that big promo, we got two big bulls clashing in Mighty Mo and Nick Booth. Along with T-Bone Bright, I think Mighty Mo could be a big babyface star for TCW. He'd have to be split from the god-awfuly team with Tana the Mighty, but he could be a big deal. This was a solid match with not a lot of wrestling but a whole lot of punching and kicking and even some biting from Nick Booth. Booth could be good wild singles heel and he fits with Eddie Peak, unlike Shark and Titan. Mo was able to hit his Plunging Spinebuster, which I think is a very cool spinebuster variation, and get the pin in 7:39 of good solid TV action. <strong>64</strong>.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">                                  <img src="https://i.imgur.com/VJyytHt.jpg" alt="" width="86" height="43" /><br /><br /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/ZxibBIW.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/vItdKlH.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Next up was the Television Championship match. Dazzling Dave and Greg Gauge. Dave fits the Southern presentation of TCW so well. He's big and rugged and while he's older than maybe TCW needs right now he just fits and he was clearly here to do the job to Greg. It looks like the build of Greg Gauge is going to continue and that's probably smart. He's a damn fine wrestler and he came out here wrestling his ass off. I love everything Greg does -- Matthew gets all the hype being over in Burning Hammer and he definitely launched to superstardom earlier in his career than Greg, but I actually think Greg is the better wrestler. He locked in the Proton Lock and got the submission in 9:27. <strong>65</strong>. This was his ninth straight defense of the TV Championship.</span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;"><img src="https://i.imgur.com/YYf7TF8.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/OcDyQF8.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/EShyCUs.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/zkLTAYI.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/mmWyz8z.jpg" width="45" height="45" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/O8YnpRE.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/MDk4GEY.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/C8jAYhM.jpg" alt="" width="80" height="80" /><img src="https://i.imgur.com/1SQ7OJj.jpg" width="79" height="79" /></span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">We ended the show with our main event. A big eight man tag match that was pushing three feuds forward. I love the weaving of multiple storylines together in one match. I think that was a smart play for the first episode of 2020. We had Aaron Andrews, Sammy Bach, and Devine Fortune against Jay Chord and The Syndicate. This was the best match of the night but it was also a little all over the place. Devine Fortune and The Elite are not in the same stratosphere as the other four so having four world class guys and four average guys made for something ehhh. The crowd also wanted to see the World Champion more but Aaron was kept out of the ring for the most part -- and I understand why. They don't want to hurt the champion, but why put him in the match if he wasn't going to do as much wrestling? Aaron was in at the finish though and that's what is most important, I guess -- because he and Wolf were finally the legal men together and the two men just fought up the ramp and got counted out and the match went to a double count out draw after 17:16. It was a good match, the best match of the night at a <strong>72</strong>; however, I would have liked to see it have a real finish. It didn't need the draw. I understand not wanting to beat one of your four stars but that's why the other four guys were in the match right? </span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">Overall, I thought this was a good show. It was the first under The Historian and the first show he's ever booked as far as I know. The show made sense from top to bottom. It pushed all of the storylines that were going on before he took over the book so it didn't offer any abrupt departures for the audience. He let his top talent shine by getting multiple segments but he also showcased T-Bone and Mighty Mo. He probably could have done without showcasing himself. I'd give the show a solid <strong>73</strong>. </span></p><p><span style="color: #ffffff;">What about you guys? What would you</span><span style="color: #ffffff;"> like to see more of? Who would you like to see less of? DinoKea - 5/8 -- You almost called that opener right! It was a toss up!

Jaysin - 6/8 -- I think this is the first time you've ever predicted on one of my shows, I 'preciate it.

We're trying something different for our tv shows. The TV shows will be write ups by reporters or different personalities or websites (each of us is using someone different) instead of being the typical match write-up-angle-write up. This allows us to be able to do some speculating or hate on ourselves or plant seeds and what not. PPVs will be written up in the classic style. We also feel like this will provide some variety as we are producing, currently, four weekly shows (damn DarK_RaideR and his two weekly TVs!) and three monthly PPVS. That's seven monthly shows so we want them to have different feels.

I appreciate everyone who predicted. I hope you enjoyed the show. Let me know what you think of the format -- it's the first time I've done it this way.

Also, so you know our show posting order. It goes like this:

TCW Total Wrestling -- SWF Supreme TV -- USPW American Wrestling -- SWF Uprising.

Total Wrestling and Supreme TV are both on Tuesdays nights, but to prevent DR from having two shows in a run (and three with PPVs) we have me posting first.

Anyway, it feels good to have show one in the books!

SWF Supreme TV Results [Tues. Wk. 1, Jan 2020]

qeYGKnn.jpg

From the diary of Samantha W. Fitzworthy

Mr. Eisen asked me to watch tonight’s episode of Supreme TV with him and take notes of his comments, so that he may later convey them to his two sons regarding their running of the company and the performance of their new head booker, Matty Faith. The show was broadcast on C.A.N.N. and held in Trenton, New Jersey at the Evanovich Riverside arena. The financial records, to which Mr. Eisen still maintains access, report a total of 10.000 tickets sold, enough to sell out the venue. Early numbers say that the show did a 2.95 or 2,214,162 viewers, which Mr. Eisen asked me to note was less than those watching TCW Total Wrestling airing at the same time on ACE.

7MBpyeV.jpg25UZG0h.pngnq2GDOi.jpg2gUyrYj.jpg

The show went straight into a match, which Mr. Eisen called “strange, but ballsy” on Faith’s part, as surprises are good for business and jumping straight into the action might hook viewers in. “The Disco Stud” Robbie Retro wrestled “The Supreme Star” Spencer Spade, accompanied by his manager, Dulce Moreno. Retro was his usual entertaining self, disco dancing to get the audience going and at times even flirting with Dulce Moreno at ringside, which seemed to infuriate Spade. This lack of focus and seriousness on Retro’s part justified the less experienced Spade winning the match via his Supreme Stunner finisher, which Mr. Eisen said was the right call in pushing the young prospect up the card, rating it a 61 out of a hundred.

cpAGu2w.jpg

After the opening match, Angry Gilmore made an entrance to a good pop from the sold out audience. Gilmore cut a promo to say he wants to be taken seriously and part of that involves reverting to his original name of Tom Gilmore, something the fans seemed to have conflicting feelings, as a lukewarm “Angry Gilmore” chant broke out. Improvising on the fly, Gilmore told them being called that makes him sound like a caricature of someone who’s always mad at something, but the name change doesn’t mean the anger has gone away too. “Clowns like Robbie Retro get to have matches on TV while true wrestlers like myself are being overlooked” he said. Mr. Eisen commented that he’s not sure about the change and the message, but it’s fine as long as the fans ate it up and it will certainly be a segment that the Internet Wrestling Community will go crazy about on social media, giving it an 82.

SPyzWUc.jpg25UZG0h.pngx70kFLp.jpg

Next up, American Machine faced “The King of Charisma” Robbie Wright, a classic setup of the cowardly heel dodging the big powerhouse babyface. There’s no denying that Machine is getting old and it shows, but he still knows how to play to his strengths: take it slow, pose, work the crowd, get the most out of a few big moves. That's experience and Robbie lacks it, while not getting much heat in the meantime. Machine got a few big slams in to pop the crowd and build up hope, but then got shot down when Robbie pulled out brass knuckles for a sneaky punch and the pin. Mr. Eisen called it “a piss break” and rated it a 52.

cmXGyfa.jpgEylo95j.jpg

A message from Fame & Money aired next, shot in the backseat of a limousine to play up to their gimmick. Paul Huntigdon did the talking while Monty Trescarde nodded or grimaced, which Mr. Eisen said is for the best as the former is a much better talker than the latter. The SWF World Tag Team champions addressed Hawaiian Crush, who are scheduled to face them for the titles next Thursday at the When Hell Freezes Over PPV, saying they’ve seen their fair share of hot young up and coming teams thinking they’re the next big thing, but on Thursday they will show it’s not about any of that, it’s all about the Fame and the Money. Mr. Eisen called it a pretty standard promo, but still gave it a 60.

J3gziSv.jpggT58y8R.jpg1oogrm3.jpg

Coming back to the venue, the announcing team of Duane Fry, Ana Garcia and Emma Chase then revealed that later tonight, the challengers Hawaiian Crush would be facing the team of Hollywood Bret Starr and Justin Sensitive, who they made sure to point out are part of The Rat Pack alongside Huntigdon and Trescarde. This got a 52 from Mr. Eisen, who said it was obvious where this was going, but gave kudos for taking a moment to announce and hype up a match that would be happening later in the night.

Wfm7oyM.jpg25UZG0h.pnggvy0H2L.jpg

The next match saw “Fast Ball” Oliver Kobb come out dressed in a Yankees uniform for a cheap pop, but I still think it’s nice he went the extra mile to tailor his outfit to play to the specific local audience. His opponent, Dominic DeSousa, trolled him and the fans by sporting a Dodgers shirt over his usual attire, a team who’s not only the classic rival of the Yankees' but also started in Brooklyn before recently moving to DeSousa's home town of L.A., meaning he got heat for both “playing for the enemy” as well as the whole East Coast-West Coast thing. That was about it though, fans were dead for the match and the wrestling was kinda sloppy too, with DeSousa getting a sneaky roll up win, but no one caring enough to react with shock or surprise. Mr. Eisen remarked that if the previous match worked for a piss break, having two of those back to back provided ample time “for a proper deposit to the shitter”, giving it a 53. While I do not share his sentiment in regards to the choice of language, I can understand why fans would change the channel to check what was happening on TCW Total Wrestling.

cMCn9oC.jpg

A video message from Mainstream Hernandez aired next, who addressed the fans from the Jersey shore in his linen suit and designer sunglasses. Hernandez went to great lengths to talk down the beach and the people in Jersey, saying he hasn’t got a match tonight on purpose, because they don’t deserve his greatness. Mr. Eisen said this was double genius heel work, one because he looked like he’d walked out of a Miami Vice episode so he subconsciously tapped into the Jersey-Miami beach rivalry and two, because he’s in fact Canadian and thus not exactly a beach person to begin with, giving it a 71.

a5Ha94g.jpg25UZG0h.pngqm4JcZ6.jpg

Match quality began to pick up next as Bret Biggins faced Joey Morgan. The two men are over and have the experience to work a match, so it was a decent one with Morgan especially delivering the goods between the ropes for a well deserved victory once he hit the Empire Spiral, which Biggins sold like it killed him. I believe Morgan deserves better, especially after such a performance, but Mr. Eisen gave this match a mere 64.

UEdrBy2.jpg1xdP8o4.jpgWDpvDHD.jpgZMWSLM5.jpg

Name changes seem to be a thing, as another one happened in the next segment. Unleashed Awesomeness came to the ring and surrounded Randy Unleashed, who will be headlining When Hell Freezes Over in a World Heavyweight title match against Rocky Golden. The challenger cut a forgettable heel promo on the champion, in the process announcing that he shall henceforth be using his full legal name of Randall Buckminster Bumfhole. God knows why any parent would name their child that, but it’s a douchey name and fitting for a heel, fans really want to see Rocky Golden embarrass this guy. Mr. Eisen also caught that this is like Randy trying to one-up Gilmore from earlier on with the name change and ranked the segment as a 77.

Uma1ExS.jpgp0O5Ibq.jpg25UZG0h.pngTvNbpxX.jpgZG3gG6w.jpg

As announced earlier, Hawaiian Crush wrestled against Hollywood Bret Starr and Justin Sensitive but there’s no two ways about this, it was a hot mess. The Hawaiian duo are green and it shows, but somehow Justin managed to look even worse. Which totally threw the premise of the match off, as Starr was supposed to avoid confrontation, leaving Sensitive to do the work for him and take a beating, so instead Starr had to get in there and try to carry the match, but then Sensitive still got pinned in the end. I understand the challengers need to build momentum, but this looked bad and I'd probably have gone with the champions interfering to cost them the match here. Or at least make an appearance and try to interfere, as Mr. Eisen remarked, before dropping a 52 for this one.

J3gziSv.jpggT58y8R.jpg1oogrm3.jpg

The broadcast team tried to salvage this by hyping up the World Tag Team title match at When Hell Freezes Over, saying Hawaiian Crush won tonight but things will be harder and stakes will be higher next Thursday. Marginally better rating for their blathering from Mr. Eisen at 56.

bcjiqVi.jpg25UZG0h.pngSVidnhr.jpg

Another match set to take place at When Hell Freezes Over is Lenny Brown challenging Des Davids for the SWF North American title, thus Brown had a match here against “The Eighth Deadly Sin” John Greed to help him build up some momentum, look like a credible threat. Greed doesn’t seem to be involved in any major storyline at this point, so he could be relied upon to give Lenny a good match and put him over. He also added a nice touch, badmouthing Brown for being blinded by his greed (pun intended) chasing the North American title, before raking the eyes to make his point literal. Lenny’s win didn't quite go down with collective rejoicing as it should either, he can't seem to get much sympathy as a face since he lost his cool badass edge after his turn and for the love of me, I can’t fathom why he’s still sticking with the “Bad, Bad” nickname since he turned. Mr. Eisen told me to write down a 53 for this.

kFrQtdk.jpg

Backstage, the SWF North American champion Des Davids was shown watching the match on a TV screen. He then turned to the camera and asked if this is the best Lenny Brown has to offer, because it'll take a lot more to get in the ring with him at the Pay Per View, let alone survive that match. Taking the North American title is out of the question, Davids said and Mr. Eisen agreed, saying Lenny needs more seasoning before a run with the belt and giving the promo an 81.

WBnSRhJ.jpg25UZG0h.pnginYGk7m.jpg

I think this match was a sign we’re done with the midcard and moving into the good part of the show, Mikey Lau facing The Crippler. I’ll never tell Mr. Eisen, but Mikey is a rarity in modern day SWF, a face that actually gets cheered and isn't Rocky Golden. Him and Crippler can go in the ring and given their backgrounds, they shook things up with a more martial arts, almost MMA shoot style match. Crippler was relentless in chasing the leg to disable Mikey's kicks and almost left him limping, but his obsession cost him the match when he got disqualified for refusing to release an ankle lock despite the ref's count and call for a rope break. Mr. Eisen said he liked the storytelling in this match and Mikey’s selling, complete with him requiring support to get backstage, almost hopping on one leg. The broadcast team made sure to put this over and sell the drama, wondering if he can even make it to the Pay Per View where he’s scheduled to wrestle Brandon James and if he does, whether he will be in a 100% fighting condition. I didn’t think the match would go this way, but as Mr. Eisen pointed out, it made The Crippler look dangerous and gave Lau an obstacle to overcome, grading it a 60.

qD6llvF.jpg

A taped message from Rocky Golden aired next. Fans must have been frustrated to not get Rocky live for a promo and he would do well with something more elaborate than a generic promo background according to Mr. Eisen. The champion was, as always, great on the mic and addressed his upcoming match against Randall Buckminster Bumfhole, putting him over as a legitimate threat despite his silly attitude and antics, before adding that besides his opponent, he'll have to overcome the pressure of Scythe's ongoing mind games, but he will prevail; he's the champion, he's Rocky Golden and he will leave the PPV still champion even if he has to walk through Hell itself. Mr. Eisen gave this a weak 69, saying Rocky can do way better and should focus on himself instead of getting others over.

2tpRL3H.jpg25UZG0h.pngZJznckl.jpgsjzLjoT.jpg

The main event was a superb contest between Remo and Valiant, who have been involved in a triangle feud with Valiant’s former tag team partner, Rogue. The babyface got a few good moves in to show fire and hook the fans in, before Remo’s power allowed him to turn things around and control the match to garner some heat. I found Hannah’s reactions at ringside really added to Valiant’s selling as well as his hope spots scattered throughout the match. Mr. Eisen also seemed to enjoy the match and praised Valiant as SWF’s biggest babyface just behind Rocky. As I wrote before, I personally believe that praise should be directed towards Mikey Lau, but what do I know.

1KmmoFR.jpg

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Rogue did make up an appearance eventually, initially messing with Hannah at ringside, thus distracting the referee. You’d expect this to anger Valiant, but he was getting pasted by that point and it was Remo who ended up shouting at the official, as he’d made a cover but there was no one to make the count. While the two were arguing, Valiant began to make a triumphant rise back to his feet, but Rogue shot that down hard when he snuck into the ring to give him a low blow, then immediately got back out. Remo finally waved the ref away and grabbed a staggering Valiant to execute The Destroyer, then covered him and got the three count. Mr. Eisen said more matches on the card should be like this, whatever that may mean, and gave the main event a 76.

Overall, Mr. Eisen called it a passable show and I tend to agree with his analysis: it started strong, the angles were mostly good but the matches dragged on forever until things finally picked up with Lau and Crippler in the semi main. Not much progressed in terms of storylines, which is understandable as everything is lined up for When Hell Freezes Over already, though I’ll add I never saw that Mikey Lau leg damage (injury?) coming, it’s a nice curveball that has me interested to see if he pulls through in the end. Mr. Eisen’s final verdict for the entire thing was a 64.

We've entered a new year and a new decade and the first iteration of USPW's American Wrestling of 2020 comes to you from Tennessee via the Reverie Network! There'll be a lot to unravel after the events of Made In America a few nights ago as we begin the journey towards Stars, Stripes and Slams! in four weeks time.

'The Dark Destroyer' Steve Frehley
will be in action as he looks to continue his hot run of form after beating
Rick Law
a few nights ago. We're sure that Law won't take his 'tainted' loss lightly in the aftermath of the event but many are wondering if a new year will see the return of the man whom many believe personifies USPW,
Nicky Champion
, who hasn't been since his brutal beating by Frehley at Thanksgiving Thunder two months ago.

National Champion
Roger Cage
will open the show in a non-title affair against
Funky Fedora
. Cage is two months into his reign as champion but has continued to draw the ire of
Zeus
and the tag team Bad Intentions, collectively known as The Olympus Order. This rivalry has been ongoing since United States of Pain! in September but now that there is gold involved the stakes continue to rise!

Elsewhere on the card
Cooper Christie
, one half of the fastest rising tag team in the company in The Texas Express, will be in action. The always impressive Women's division will be featured with two matches.
Juliette King
and
Glorious Gloria
are the muscle that backs up
Alicia Strong
and they'll be in tag team action as well as
'The Iron Lady' Jillian Jarvis
facing off against
Wendy Anderson
.

It's a night full of action ahead of us and all of that doesn't include the fallout of the recent World Title match in which
Rich Money
retained the belt against
Running Wolf
due to outside interference. I'm certain that won't be the last we hear of that situation and it'll develop further on American Wrestling. The only way to know is to make sure you tune in. We'll see you there!
