TCW - (Number) Three's a Charm

Recommended Posts

Just caught up and I’m loving it even more. I popped for Mad Man Boone, and I unironically hope he stays around as a nostalgia act for the hell of it. Sucks that the Hammond push hasn’t worked, but it seems to be a holdover until we get another Ace vs Wolf match anyway. Excellent work!

Predictions - Battleground on Ace (Night 2)

Still competition for Herrbear, but he's bounced back well! Thank you all for the kind words, let's roll on from Battleground.

  • In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Aaron Andrews defeated T-Bone Bright (10:26) with the Ace Cutter. [71]
  • After the match, Joshua Taylor interrupted Aaron Andrews' celebration, flanked with fellow Revolt members, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking. Taylor said that Revolt is taking this place over, and he's going to start with the TCW World Heavyweight Title. Andrews told Taylor he's ready for him anytime, but Taylor said Andrews could first feel the might of the Revolt, against Matt Hocking next week! [64]
  • Backstage, a dejected looking Maverick ran into his opponent from last week, Mad Man Boone. Boone said he thought Maverick was biting off more than he could chew with his open challenges, and suggested that the two team up. Maverick looked skeptical, and said he'd keep fighting the world, but agreed to give a partnership with Boone a chance. [42]
  • We get a short recap of Night 1 of Battleground, where Dazzling Dave Diamond and Eddie Peak both got counted out, and Peak hightailed it after landing a low blow on Diamond. [67]
  • In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Jeremie Courtney (6:48) with the Dazzle Driver. [49] After the bout, Diamond challenged Eddie Peak to a brawl in his bar next week - but Peak declined, instead suggesting that Diamond could play host to the giant, Nick Booth. [61]
  • One Man Army was interviewed in ring by long-time caller, Jason Azaria. He was flying high after last week's Battleground win over The Syndicate, and had his eyes set on a one-on-one rematch with Wolf Hawkins. Hawkins then came out on the ramp and said that Army already had his chance and blew it. One Man Army reminded Hawkins that their last bout was tainted by interference from The Elite, but Hawkins said it was just semantics. He said he'd shifted his focus to Total Mayhem, and One Man Army just needed to deal with it. [86]
  • Backstage, T-Bone Bright was recovering from his bout earlier in the night, when he ran into The Elite, Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson, who made fun of him for being the first man out in last week's Battleground match. Bright made the mistake of reminding The Elite that his team ultimately won, which led Chandler & Johnson to beat him down and scamper off. [60]
  • TCW Television Title: In a decent match, Greg Gauge © defeated Elliot Thomas (11:46) with the Proton Lock. [74] After the bout, an impressed Gauge went to shake Thomas' hand - only to lock in the Proton Lock again until referees interfered. [54]
  • Backstage, Human Arsenal was watching Gauge's attack with clear disgust. He was then joined by Danny Fonzarelli, who suggested he needs a little more love in his life. Arsenal looked unimpressed and walked off, leaving the Fonz looking equal parts disappointed and determined. [70]
  • Elsewhere, a sweaty Greg Gauge was walking backstage, title draped over his should and clearly impressed with himself. He ran into "Hawaiian Thunder" Clark Alexander, who said his attack on Thomas was "not cool". Gauge simply scoffed, walking past Alexander - including by brushing him with his shoulder on the way. [63]
  • TCW World Tag Team Titles: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Devine Fortune (Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine) © defeated The Elite (Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson) (15:04) with the Stroke of Luck from Fortune to Johnson. [60] As part of the finish, Chris Flynn tried getting involved, only for Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright to come running out to fight the big man off. That left Johnson momentarily distracted, which he paid for as Fortune hit the Stroke of Luck. After the bout, The Elite tried to attack the champions - but it was foolish, as the numbers overwhelmed them and the new champions celebrated alongside Mo & Bright. [56]
  • In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Freddy Huggins & Jay Chord defeated Edd Stone & Sammy Bach (15:41) with the Cradle Piledriver from Chord to Stone. [78] The finish came after Laura Catherine distracted Stone at ringside, allowing Chord to hit him with the low blow and then the Cradle Piledriver. The victors tried to beat the faces down post match, but Stone's girlfriend, Vita, bravely put herself in the face of danger to pull the heels away. Just as Chord and Huggins turned their attention to Vita, the faces fought back -sending the heels sprawling out of the ring to end the show on a high. [74]

Quick Results:
Aaron Andrews def. T-Bone Bright
Dazzling Dave Diamond def. Jeremie Courtney
Greg Gauge def. Elliot Thomas to retain the TCW Television Title
Devine Fortune def. The Elite to retain the TCW World Tag Team Titles
Jay Chord & Freddy Huggins def. Edd Stone & Sammy Bach

FINAL WORD: A hot end to the show, as the Chord/Stone and Bach/Huggins feuds continue to build, while the crowd loved the Hawkins/Army show. The mid-card is still bloated, but it was a great return to form after a couple of rough multi-man weeks.

Overall Rating: [79]

NEXT WEEK: Aaron Andrews vs. Matt Hocking! Jay Chord vs. Danny Fonzarelli! Nick Booth vs. Dazzling Dave Diamond! Wolf Hawkins & Chris Flynn vs. Benny and the Foxx! Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright vs. Mad Man Boone & Maverick!

  • The Syndicate started the show with a picture-in-picture promo as Wolf Hawkins & Chris Flynn walked to the ring. While Hawkins maintained he had shifted his focus to Total Mayhem, he still seemed preoccupied with One Man Army. [72]
  • Tag Team Match: In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, The Syndicate (Wolf Hawkins & Chris Flynn) defeated Benny & The Foxx (Benny Benson & Flying Jimmy Foxx) (10:26) with the Full Moon Rising from Hawkins to Foxx. [65] After the bout, Hawkins & Flynn mocked their fallen opponents, leading One Man Army to charge to the ring and send The Syndicate scampering to the back. Hawkins looked livid that One Man Army had embarrassed him - again. [76]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Sammy Bach defeated Matt Blackburn (3:48) with the Adrenaline Shot. [43] Bach's celebrations after the match were cut short, as Freddy Huggins came in with yet another sneak attack. But just as Bach started to fight back, Huggins slid out of the ring looking very happy with himself. [77]
  • Aaron Andrews delivered a promo backstage, hyping the main event against Matt Hocking. That prompted Joshua Taylor to arrive alongside Hocking, with the Revolt leader mocking the champion. Andrews reminded Taylor that he offered him a shot at the title last week, but Taylor refused. An incensed Taylor said he wouldn't be laughing after receiving a Hock Shock later tonight. [79]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Jay Chord defeated Danny Fonzarelli (8:03) with the Spike Piledriver. [73] After the. bout, a fired up Edd Stone came to the ring to confront Chord after the latter cheated to win last week, but the second generation star blew him off again. [83]
  • Backstage, Maverick and Mad Man Boone prepared for their first match as a team. [46]
  • Tag Team Match: In a decent match, Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright defeated Mad Man Boone & Maverick (6:31) with the Plunging Spinebuster from Mo to Maverick. [60] During the match, Maverick tried some underhanded tactics, but was rebuked by Boone for his actions. After the match, The Elite came out and confronted Mo & Bright - and tensions were high after last week's interactions. [68]
  • Backstage, Edd Stone's girlfriend, Vita, was waiting for Stone to emerge from the locker room. But she was soon interrupted by Freddy Huggins & Laura Catherine, who mocked her boyfriend for his loss last week. Just as Huggins got into Vita's personal space, Stone emerged to tell his former partner to back off. [73]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Greg Gauge (with Marc Speed) defeated Local Talent (Jay Silver) (4:36) with the Proton Lock. [40] For the second week running, Gauge kept the hold applied after the match, prompting Clark Alexander & Elliot Thomas to break things up and send Gauge and Speed scurrying to the back. [41]
  • Backstage, fresh off his loss earlier, Danny Fonzarelli ran into Human Arsenal again. He asked how Arsenal was going in his quest for love and asked whether he could help him. For the second week running, a perplexed Arsenal walked off without answering. [69]
  • Bar Room Brawl: In a decent match, Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Nick Booth (8:29) by knock out. [54] This was a bizarre, almost cinematic match in a local bar, which culminated in Diamond slamming Booth's head into the bar counter and cracking him over the head with a beer bottle. With Booth out cold, Diamond turned to the camera and challenged Eddie Peak to a blow off match, in this same bar next week. [69]
  • Tag Team Match: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Aaron Andrews defeated Matt Hocking (12:28) with the Ace Cutter. [75] After the match, Revolt swarmed the ring and beat the champion down, with Taylor picking up the title and telling Andrews it'll be his. [76]

Quick Results:
The Syndicate (Wolf Hawkins & Chris Flynn) defeated Benny & The Foxx
Sammy Bach defeated Matt Blackburn
Jay Chord defeated Danny Fonzarelli
Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright defeated Mad Man Boone & Maverick
Greg Gauge defeated Local Talent (Jay Silver)
Bar Room Brawl - Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Nick Booth
Aaron Andrews defeated Matt Hocking

FINAL WORD: Another good show, with Revolt finally getting some heat on them and moving onto bigger things. There are some better stories brewing, but it's still not clear what the plans are for Total Mayhem.

Overall Rating: [77]

NEXT WEEK: Wolf Hawkins vs. Edd Stone! Devine Fortune vs. Taylor/Hocking! Gauge/Speed vs. Alexander/Thomas! And another bar room brawl - between Dazzling Dave Diamond and Eddie Peak!

  1. As Human Arsenal makes his way to the ring, Danny Fonzarelli joins him to give him a pep talk - much to Arsenal's chagrin. [62]
  2. Singles Match: Human Arsenal defeated Jeremie Courtney (6:13) with the Ammo Dump. [52]
  3. Singles Match: Marc Speed defeated JT Shields (3:02) with a Cross Armbreaker. [27]
  4. Tag Team Match: Clark Alexander & Elliot Thomas defeated Team PGHW (Daigo Goya & Nobuyo Hikuchi) (5:19) with the Hawaiian Breaker from Alexander to Goya. [31]
  5. Singles Match: Yuri Yoshihara defeated Local Talent (Trusty Rodriguez) (5:07) with a Bulldog Choke. [5]
  6. The Elite issued an open challenge, which was (inexplicably) answered by the two-time former tag team champions, Stink & Grunt! [46]
  7. Tag Team Match: The Elite (Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson) defeated Stink & Grunt (6:30) with a thumb to the eyes followed by a roll-up from Chandler to Grunt. [49]
  8. Before the main event, Edd Stone delivered a hot promo directed at Jay Chord and his former partner, Freddy Huggins. [75]
  9. Singles Match: Edd Stone defeated Roderick Remus (7:44) with an Exploder Suplex. [50]

  • Bar Room Brawl: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Eddie Peak (6:13) by knock out. [55] Another bizarre, almost cinematic match here, which culminated in Diamond sending Peak head first into the karaoke machine. He then drank a beer to celebrate with the rest of the bar, as the locals threw an unconscious Eddie Peak out to the curb to finally end this storyline. [71]
  • Joshua Taylor gave an interview backstage, bragging about the beating he put on Aaron Andrews last week. He said the World Title will soon be his. [64]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Mighty Mo defeated Chris Flynn (10:25) with the Plunging Spinebuster. [69] During the bout, Flynn's fellow Syndicate members - Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson - interfered on his behalf, before T-Bone Bright & One Man Army levelled the numbers. The two teams brawled, setting up a six-man tag match for next week. [64]
  • Sammy Bach got fired up in a backstage promo about Freddy Huggins, after Huggins' latest sneak attack left him nursing a concussion. [75]
  • Tag Team Match: In a decent match, Greg Gauge & Marc Speed defeated Clark Alexander & Elliot Thomas (12:02) with the Cross Armbreaker from Speed to Thomas. [61] Alexander & Thomas have no chemistry, but for some reason they continue to team. After the bout, the Revolt members beat down the faces. While Alexander & Thomas briefly fought back, it soon got too much.
  • Meanwhile, the TCW World Tag Team Champions, Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine, gave a vanilla sort of promo ahead of their tag team match against Revolt's Joshua Taylor & Matt Hocking. [57]
  • Elsewhere, we get another interaction between Human Arsenal and Danny Fonzarelli. Fonzarelli said he's been enjoying his interactions with the (so far) silent Arsenal, and will be at ringside for his bout tonight against Roderick Remus. Arsenal looks less than impressed. [68]
  • Elsewhere, Wolf Hawkins gave a scathing promo against One Man Army after being embarrassed by the five-time tag champion last week. [84]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Roderick Remus defeated Human Arsenal (with Danny Fonzarelli) (11:35) with a Super Kick. [62] The finish came as Fonzarelli tried to get involved to prevent Remus from cheating, only to distract Arsenal for long enough to allow Remus to hit him with the Super Kick for the win. Arsenal was fuming after the match, while Remus celebrated like he'd just won the title. [59]
  • Tag Team Match, Non-Title: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Devine Fortune (Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine) defeated Revolt (Joshua Taylor & Matt Hocking) (11:32) with the Stroke of Luck from Fortune to Devine. [61] The finish came as Aaron Andrews distracted Revolt at ringside, giving Fortune enough time to pounce. Taylor looked ropable.
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Wolf Hawkins defeated Edd Stone (16:34) with the Full Moon Rising. [83] The finish came as Jay Chord appeared on screen (alongside Stone's girlfriend Vita, who looked very distressed) to distract Stone. After the bout, as Stone came to, the camera showed Chord, Freddy Huggins and Laura Catherine dragging Vita to a car before driving off. A devastated Stone hobbled-ran to the back, but it was clearly too late. [73]

Quick Results:
Bar Room Brawl - Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Eddie Peak
Mighty Mo defeated Chris Flynn
Revolt (Greg Gauge & Marc Speed) defeated Clark Alexander & Elliot Thomas
Roderick Remus defeated Human Arsenal
Non-Title - Devine Fortune (Chance Devine & Darryl Diamond) defeated Revolt (Matt Hocking & Joshua Taylor)
Wolf Hawkins defeated Edd Stone

FINAL WORD: A star-making performance from Edd Stone in the main event, as his feud with Jay Chord continues to be the most interesting thing on the show. Elsewhere, Wolf Hawkins and One Man Army are surely heading to a big showdown, while Joshua Taylor at least appears to be a more interesting title contender than Doc Hammond. But we're clearly spinning our wheels before Total Mayhem.

Overall Rating: [80]

NEXT WEEK: Revolt vs. Andrews & Devine Fortune! The Syndicate vs. Mighty Mo, One Man Army & T-Bone Bright! Greg Gauge vs. Flying Jimmy Foxx for the TV Title! And what has happened to Vita?!

  • TCW Television Title, Singles Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Greg Gauge (c) defeated Flying Jimmy Foxx (9:59) with the Proton Lock. During the bout, Gauge was assisted by his fellow Revolt members, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking. [71] After the bout, Revolt tried to beat down on Foxx, before he was saved by the cavalry - Benny Benson, Elliot Thomas & Clark Alexander! [52]
  • Backstage, Joshua Taylor hyped up the night's main event against Aaron Andrews & Devine Fortune, saying Andrews got lucky with his shot last week. [72] A fired up Aaron Andrews then spoke elsewhere, promising that Taylor wasn't going to get his hands on the title. [83]
  • Elsewhere, fresh off his feud ending win last week, Dazzling Dave Diamond said he was ready to move on from Eddie Peak and the Sinner Society, and was focusing his attentions on one thing: winning gold. But he's soon interrupted by Nick Booth, who wants another shot at him though: one vs. one, no bar rooms in sight. [76]
  • Singles Match: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Sammy Bach defeated Roderick Remus (7:49) with the Bach on Your Back. During the bout, Freddy Huggins interfered, only for an enraged Edd Stone to fight Huggins off. [68] Stone & Bach looked to have Huggins cornered, only for Jay Chord to appear on screen with Laura Catherine and Stone's kidnapped girlfriend, Vita. The taunt allowed Huggins enough time to run backstage, leaving Stone furious in the ring. [74]
  • Ahead of their match backstage, there was a comedy segment of sorts as Mad Man Boone & Maverick faced down Danny Fonzarelli & Human Arsenal. Boone, Maverick and Fonzarelli were taking this very seriously, while Arsenal looked confused about how he'd found himself in this mess. [58]
  • Tag Team Match: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Danny Fonzarelli & Human Arsenal defeated Mad Man Boone & Maverick (7:44) with the Ammo Dump from Arsenal to Maverick. [54]
  • Next, we got a short promo for a new tag team who are making their way to TCW: Marvel Malloy & Storm Spillane, The American Cobras! The crowd clearly isn't as interested in indie wrestling as others, so this got a subdued reaction. [18]
  • Backstage, the TCW Tag Team Champions, Devine Fortune, commented briefly on the impending arrival of the Cobras, noting that they were always keen for new competition. They then set their sights on Revolt's Marc Speed & Matt Hocking, who they called unworthy. Another awkward promo from the champs. [46]
  • Elsewhere, Wolf Hawkins confronted One Man Army while the latter warmed up for his match. Hawkins wished One Man Army luck against The Syndicate, noting that he would need it. One Man Army challenged Hawkins to a bout, one-on-one, at "War to Settle the Score" in two weeks' time, but Hawkins said One Man Army wasn't up to his level. The crowd ate this up. [79]
  • Trios Match: In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Mighty Mo, One Man Army & T-Bone Bright defeated The Syndicate (Chris Flynn, Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson) (14:58) with the Plunging Spinebuster from Mo to Flynn. Wolf Hawkins tried to interfere during the match, but was stopped by the imperious One Man Army. [70] After the bout, The Syndicate tried to attack - only for the faces to fight them off. A furious Hawkins then, finally, accepted One Man Army's challenge for War to Settle the Score - and in his rage, even accepted a stipulation: a Cage Match! [72]
  • Trios Match: In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Revolt (Joshua Taylor, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking) defeated Aaron Andrews & Devine Fortune (Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine) (18:21) with the Butterfly Lock from Taylor to Fortune. The finish came after Speed & Hocking interfered to triple team Fortune. [77] After the bout, Andrews agreed to put the title on the line against Taylor - but said he couldn't wait until War to Settle the Score: he wanted the match next week! [78]

FINAL WORD: A strong couple of matches to finish the show, as some of the big story lines come to a head. Andrews vs. Taylor next week will be a monster, and then of course Hawkins vs. One Man Army the following week.

Overall Rating: [77]

NEXT WEEK: Aaron Andrews vs. Joshua Taylor for the World Title! Mighty Mo vs. Freddy Huggins! Nick Booth vs. Dazzling Dave Diamond! Maverick vs. Danny Fonzarelli

  • Singles Match: In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Freddy Huggins and Mighty Mo went to a no contest (11:39). The match descended into chaos as the likes of Sammy Bach, Edd Stone, The Elite & T-Bone Bright all interfered. [70] Following the bout, Jay Chord appeared again at the top of the ramp, alongside Stone's girlfriend Vita (who was being held back by Laura Catherine Huggins). Chord said he could have Vita back - but only if he beat his old tag team partner, Freddy Huggins, next week at War to Settle the Score! Stone accepted, but before he could chase down Chord he was blindsided by Huggins! Sammy Bach quickly came to Stone's side, but now quickly enough to stop Huggins hightailing it backstage with Chord, Laura Catherine and Vita. [80]
  • One Man Army was out in the ring. He spoke about his background and how his match next week with Wolf Hawkins was the biggest of his career. He said that, at 42, he was running out of chances to win the World Heavyweight Title, but thought a win over Hawkins was his best chance of earning a shot - and main eventing Total Mayhem! Hawkins soon came out and ran down One Man Army's chances. He said being a tag team legend is nothing to be ashamed of, but he will never be more than that! The two stared each other down ahead of their Cage Match next week, as the crowd went bonkers. [86]
  • Meanwhile, we had another encounter backstage between Maverick, Mad Man Boone, Danny Fonzarelli & Human Arsenal. Maverick said that Fonzarelli & Arsenal got lucky last week, and that he was looking forward to getting some revenge. Fonzarelli said that Maverick was dreaming, because he had two things backing him up - the power of love and Human Arsenal. [60]
  • Singles Match: In a decent match, Maverick defeated Danny Fonzarelli (6:27) with a roll-up. The finish came as Mad Man Boone distracted Fonzarelli at ringside, all while Human Arsenal watched on impassively. Fonzarelli looked disappointed with Arsenal, who yet again showed little interest in a friendship. [55]
  • Singles Match: Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Nick Booth (6:50) with a Diamond Mine. This was really an extended squash. [60] As Diamond left the ring, Eddie Peak returned and walked down the ramp! Triple D looked ready for a fight, but Peak walked past him and confronted Booth in the ring. He said that Booth had been causing the Sinner Society great embarrassment. While Booth pleaded his case, the former tag champions, Killer Shark & Titan entered the ring from the crowd - Peak told Booth that his time was up, and the big man was hoisted up by The Behemoths and slammed down with a huge double choke slam! [51]
  • Meanwhile, we get another music video hyping the impending debut of The American Cobras, Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane. [19]
  • Elsewhere, we find out that in two weeks' time Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright will meet The Elite in a two-out-of-three falls match! The two teams are interviewed backstage following that announcement, and agree to two singles matches next week at War to Settle the Score - with the winner of each of those matches choosing the stipulation for the first two falls! [70]
  • Elsewhere, after his win earlier, Dazzling Dave Diamond is looking confident - and clearly happy that his feud with Eddie Peak's Sinner Society is behind him. But as he walks, he is struck with a chair from an unknown assailant! The camera pans back to reveal a crazed looking Roderick Remus, who waits for Diamond to stagger to his feet and cracks him with a Super Kick! [59]
  • Trios Match: In a match that had good heat and decent wrestling, Revolt (Greg Gauge, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking) defeated Devine Fortune (Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine) & Elliot Thomas (15:22) with the Cross-Arm Breaker from Speed to Thomas. The finish came as Thomas was clobbered by Gauge while the referee wasn't looking. [65] The heels set upon the faces following the match, but the Hawaiian crowd favourite Clark Alexander came to the rescue! He then challenged Gauge to put their rivalry to rest in a one-on-one match next week for the TV Title - which the champion accepted. [42]
  • TCW World Heavyweight Title, Singles Match: In a bout that had fantastic heat and great wrestling, Aaron Andrews (c) defeated Joshua Taylor (22:11) with the Flying Body Press. The match was wildly overbooked, involving the other members of Revolt, Clark Alexander and the tag champions, Devine Fortune. But ultimately, Ace won relatively clean despite nearly tapping to the Boston Crab from Taylor. [76] After the bout, Andrews was along in the ring thanking the crowd - before he was blindsided from behind by a masked man! The man took off his belt and started whipping Andrews, before landing a very familiar Exploder Suplex. The boos rained down as the masked man revealed himself to be Doc Hammond, back in TCW for the first time since losing to Andrews at Battleground! [84]

FINAL WORD: A shock ending to the show, after a surprisingly clean ending to the main event. I'm not sure we needed to see Andrews vs. Hammond rekindled, but the crowd was very hot for it and it was a cool visual. Otherwise, all the main stories continued to develop - although there's a big gulf in quality between the top line storylines and the mid card. Hopefully that gets better ahead of Total Mayhem.

I love TCW and really any Cverse diary but I absolutely cannot read the white text on a green background in dark mode. If you can change that I'm in to reading this.

I didn't realise there was an issue in dark mode! I'll try and change the font colours now.

TCW World Heavyweight Title, Strap Match: Aaron Andrews (c) vs. Doc Hammond

Straight away, we're into the heavyweight title match. After the two are tied to one another, Andrews comes flying out of the blocks as soon as the bell rings and starts beating on Hammond in the corner. The referee tries to slow him down on a couple of occasions, but Andrews is furious and continues his assault. Finally he backs away, and the shell-shocked Hammond is bleeding big time - it's a nasty blade job. What looks like an extended squash soon becomes competitive, as Hammond rakes the eyes and takes control. He slides to the outside of the ring and uses the strap as a weapon, ramming Andrews into the post. The match slows as Hammond takes control, spending his time slamming the champion down with big slams and some choking with the strap for good measure. He then saunters across and touches his first corner, but as he walks to the second Andrews fights back. Bloodied, Hammond walks over to stomp the champion, but gets caught in a heel hook from nowhere! With blood all over his face, he starts tapping - but of course that doesn't finish this match. Hammond eventually fights free with kicks to the champion, but his ankle collapses under him as he gets to his feet. Andrews meanwhile fights back, and pulls Hammond close enough to hit the Ace Cutter. He starts laying into his nemesis with the strap, leaving the veteran with welts all over his back. He then lifts Hammond up again for another huge Ace Cutter, before walking to all four corners to retain the title at 11:43. A bloody brawl, but better than their last showing and the crowd was super hot it. [78] After the match, Andrews says he's finally done with Hammond, as his fallen challenger is helped to the back to the taunting of the crowd (many of whom have clearly been reading the dirt sheets - and are singing him a farewell). Andrews says he will be defending his title at Total Mayhem in just over one month, and everyone has the opportunity of making history with him. [82]

Meanwhile, Devine Fortune meet Marc Speed & Matt Hocking backstage. The Revolt duo spend a few minutes mocking the champions. The remind Hocking & Speed that they have two things that Revolt doesn't: tag team titles. [58]

Nate Johnson vs T-Bone Bright

Eddie Chandler and Mighty Mo are at ringside. The winner picks the stipulation for the first fall of their match next week. The big man, T-Bone Bright, dominates to start with some stiff lariats and early pinfall attempts. Johnson eventually fights his way back into the match as Bright goes crashing into the turnbuckle and gets a roll-up for a near fall. Although a strong man, he realises he's outmuscled by Bright so tries to wear him down with strikes. Eventually, Bright takes control with another big lariat, and he goes up top for a rare double axe-handle for two. Bright lines Johnson up for a Power Slam, but is distracted by Eddie Chandler at ringside who jumps onto the apron and hurls abuse. Mighty Mo goes around the remonstrate with him, which allows Johnson to attack from behind and then hit the Natural Order for the tainted win at 6:02. This was just a match, but the crowd was into T-Bone and Johnson got some good heat. [59]

image.png SNZxGZk.jpg image.png

Eddie Chandler vs. Mighty Mo

That leads us into the battle to pick the stipulation for the second fall. Chandler delays a lot at the start, but is soon chased down by Mo who crunches him in the corner with a splash. Bulldog gets two. Chandler manages to fight back and takes a break on the outside, but he's chased down by Mo. It's a ruse as Chandler sends Mo crashing into the barricade, and with Bright inadvertently distracting the referee Johnson gets in a couple of cheap shots. Chandler returns the bout to the ring and a Russian leg sweep gets two. He gets a bit too confident, and Mo slips out the back and sends Chandler into the corner. Another flying splash into the corner followed up by a bulldog gets two, before Johnson tries for the distraction. Mo remonstrates, but he sees the ruse coming - and jumps out of the way as Chandler tries to hit him with a running strike, only to catch his opponent. Momentarily shocked, Chandler can't do anything as Mighty Mo rolls him up - and grabs the tights for good measure, to return the favour from the dirty win earlier at 8:14. Overbooked, but some good action. [73] Chandler is furious after the match, and promises to make Mo & T-Bone suffer in the first fall - which will be a Street Fight! Mo then says there's only one thing he and T-Bone would like more than beating The Elite in a Street Fight, and that's beating them in the second fall - a Submission Match! [67]

Meanwhile, the Sinner Society explain last week's attack on Nick Booth. Eddie Peak says Booth had been embarrassing the Sinner Society, but he promises he has a bigger and better replacement lined up. [55]

Elsewhere, veteran announcer Jason Azaria steps into the ring and makes a big announcement - an eight-man tournament to crown the winner of the newly reinstated TCW International Title! The winner will be crowned in the tournament final at Total Mayhem XXIV. [71]

Elsewhere, Roderick Remus officially announces that he will be part of the TCW International Title Tournament. He also explains his attack on Dazzling Dave Diamond last week, saying he needs to make a name for himself and get on the card for Total Mayhem. [59]

TCW Television Title: Greg Gauge (c) vs. Clark Alexander

These two have been feuding since late last month, after Alexander took issue with Gauge's propensity for keeping his Proton Lock locked in after wins. Gauge tries to keep this one slow and technical to start, but Alexander seems to be willing to cooperate. It's an awkward feeling out period, before Gauge manages to crush Alexander with a vertical suplex for two. The champion controls the bout, before Alexander manages to reverse out of a waist lock, and then hits a cutter for a one-and-a-half count. Gauge continues to control the bout and cuts off most comeback attempts from Alexander, before Alexander manages to fight back with a rare drop kick. He goes for the Hawaiian Breaker, but Gauge blocks that and hits a High Angle German Suplex Hold for two. He then quickly swoops and applies the Proton Lock, and after a brief struggle Alexander taps at 11:32. This was rough and Gauge did all the work, because Alexander really just can't go anymore. [62] The announcers announce that Gauge will be looked to add the International Title to his TV Title in the upcoming tournament.

Meanwhile, Jay Chord & Freddy Huggins deliver a promo from an "undisclosed location" backstage, with Laura Catherine Huggins holding onto Edd Stone's girlfriend, Vita, by the arm. Chord says that Huggins has a chance to win his girlfriend back tonight, but he's got to get past Huggins. Which he won't do. This storyline is wild to me - why doesn't Stone just call the police? Doesn't he share a locker room with Huggins and Chord? She's been kidnapped for weeks! Anyway, the crowd seems to like this wacky fun but these guys have been treading water for weeks now. [72]

Elsewhere, We then get another hype video for The American Cobras, Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane. We see them jumping and running and lunging, probably because TCW doesn't have the rights to any other videos of them. [22]

Elsewhere, Danny Fonzarelli isn't happy with Human Arsenal, who failed to interfere on his behalf in his loss last week to Maverick. He says that's not what partners do. Arsenal clearly isn't sold that he and Fonzarelli are partners, but they are soon interrupted by Maverick & Mad Man Boone. Fonzarelli says he doesn't begrudge Maverick for last week's match - mainly because he'd love to have a partner like Boone interfere on his behalf. Maverick says he's a new man after striking up an unlikely bond with Boone, and says that soon "The Mad Men" will be tag champions. [62]

image.jpeg SNZxGZk.jpg image.jpeg

Edd Stone vs. Freddy Huggins

Despite my criticism, the crowd is hot for the this one. Much like Andrews earlier, Stone comes out of the blocks firing and Huggins doesn't really know what to do. Though these two are technicians, it was a real brawl to start as Stone was at home throwing punches and kicks at his former tag team partner. It was an aggressive start from Stone, before Huggins managed to gain a bit of respite on the outside of the ring. Stone then went aerial with a plancha over the top rope, as Huggins continued to reel. As the match went back into the ring, Jay Chord emerged from the backstage area dragging Stone's girlfriend Vita by the arm. Stone was furious and went to run up the ramp, only for Huggins to capitalise on the distraction with a running forearm - taking out the referee in the process. With the referee down, Huggins took control and pushed Stone's neck against the rope. That allowed Chord to drop Vita down to the ring in a prolonged heat spot, as she was in tears as Chord forced her to look at her boyfriend. The spot came to an end as an incensed Sammy Bach came charging out of the crowd with a steel chair! His own rival Huggins turned around to fight him off, but was collected with a brutal chair shot. Bach went to take the attack to Chord, who quickly dropped Vita's arm and backtracked up the ramp. With the referee rising to his feet, Stone gathered himself and landed the Party's Over on Huggins for the pin at 11:35. [73] With Chord looking on in fury, Stone and Vita finally reunited with a big hug in the middle of the ring. [68]

NEXT WEEK! Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright vs. The Elite! Sammy Bach vs. Troy Tornado (returning from injury)! Bart Biggins, Benny Benson & Flying Jimmy Foxx vs. Revolt! And the TCW International Title Tournament gets underway!

image.png SNZxGZk.jpg image.png

Cage Match: One Man Army vs. Wolf Hawkins

This brings to a head the hottest rivalry this year, which dates back to March where One Man Army was beaten in a Handicap Match by Hawkins & Doc Hammond and then beaten up in a five-on-one assault by The Syndicate. The announcers make clear that this match could only end by Pinfall and Submission, with the cage there to keep other members of The Syndicate at arm's length. It's a brutal battle to start - although not fuelled by hate in the way that Andrews/Hammond and Stone/Huggins were, it is clear that each is willing to put everything on the line to go into Total Mayhem with a big win. One Man Army uses his strength advantage to start - he is of course a literal ball of human muscle - pounding Hawkins in the corner with some shoulder barges to the ribs. Meanwhile, Hawkins is a natural athlete - and he effortlessly jumps over an attempted spear tackle and then sends One Man Army flying face first into the steel mesh of the cage. The two exchange periods of control, with a couple of near falls to boot, before Hawkins goes closest with a Jumping High Kick followed up by a Fisherman's Suplex Hold for a two count. The crowd is molten and loving the action, with One Man Army a clear crowd favourite as he answers Hawkins' attacks with his own punishing slams. He then lines Hawkins up for a Guided Missile in the corner, but is distracted by the crowd's negative reaction to Hawkins' lackeys - Chris Flynn, Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson. The distraction is just enough to make sure Hawkins moves out of the way of the Guided Missile, who wrests control and starts to hurt Army in the corner. Chris Flynn then starts to climb the ring to try and interfere on Hawkins' behalf - only for Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright to come out to nearly even the numbers! But outside the ring, the numbers start to overwhelm Mo & T-Bone, allowing enough time for Flynn to start climbing the cage again. But now the numbers are truly evened - as for the first time in nearly three months Tana the Mighty emerges from the back and runs (in slow motion) to the ring. Hawkins frantically tries to warn Flynn, but it's too late as Tana pulls Flynn down and lays him out with a big forearm, and Mo & T-Bone regain control against their arch rivals, The Elite. With his team mates no longer able to help him, Hawkins turned his attention back to One Man Army - but a beat too late as he was sent into the corner and crushed with a Guided Missile! Army loaded up again and landed a second Guided Missile, before dragging Hawkins to the middle of the ring for the shock pinfall at 22:29. Overbooked as hell, but a fitting end to the feud and the crowd ate it up. [81]

FINAL WORD: Well, I did NOT see that main event result - and I dare say neither did the crowd. I'm not sure where this leaves their plans for Total Mayhem - surely we aren't going to see Thom Barrowman, the One Man Army, in the main event? Anyway, this was a red hot show with some great matches, and one of their best this year. Highly recommend.

The Dirt Sheet Update - April 2020

Long-time veteran gone from TCW

The Dirt Sheet can confirm that long-time Total Championship Wrestling worker Doc Hammond is officially out of contract, following his loss at TCW's "War to Settle the Score" TV special last Tuesday. The 42-year old is a five-time TCW World Tag Team Champion (as Scout, along with Guide) and former Television Title, and had most recently been part of a high profile feud over the TCW World Heavyweight Title against Aaron Andrews. However, after 13 years with the Mid South based company, the veteran seems to be looking elsewhere to finish up his career and is taking independent bookings. We have no word yet as to where we will see Hammond next, but you can be sure The Dirt Sheet will be the first place to find out any new information!

Foreign stars to compete for revived International Title

At last week's "War to Settle the Score" TV special, Jason Azaria announced the revival of the TCW International Title, with a tournament set to crown a new champion at Total Mayhem on Jun. 6. The International Title was first won by Peter Valentine in 1997, and despite a storied lineage (including the likes of Jack Bruce, Ricky Dale Johnson, Bryan Vessey, Rocky Golden, Wolf Hawkins and Aaron Andrews) it was in many ways superseded by the TV title before being "retired" in October last year.

Apparently, the decision to retire the title was a source of regret, and TCW has released an all-star field including two international talents - part of their apparent focus on expanding their roster to include foreign stars. The eight-man bracket comprises the following, including two former International Champions:

  • Benny Benson (International [x2]; World Tag Team)
  • Chris Flynn (4C Championship [x2])
  • Extraordinario, Jr. (OLLIE - OLLIE Campeonato de Universal; OLLIE Campeonato de Mexico)
  • Greg Gauge (Television [Current]; Rip Chord Invitation [3]; MAW Atlantic [2])
  • Elliot Thomas
  • Magnum KOBE (PGHW - World Level Universal [5])
  • Mighty Mo (International; World Tag Team)
  • Roderick Remus (MAW Atlantic [2])

The tournament gets underway this Tuesday night on Total Wrestling, with Elliot Thomas taking on luchador sensation Extraordinario, Jr. The full bracket is set out below:

Deals inked for tag division additions

While Doc Hammond might be on his way out of the company, TCW continues to bolster its undercard ranks - with a real focus on expanding its tag team division. Those who have been watching TCW's "Rise Up!" show on OnDem will have seen the likes of former TCW World Tag Team Champions The Nation of Filth, Stink & Grunt, and independent cruiserweight tag team Ash Barnaby & Zach Rudge. We can confirm that both teams have inked exclusive deals with TCW, and will soon be joined by The American Cobras, Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane, who have been promoted on recent episodes of Total Wrestling.

It continues a hiring spree of sorts of TCW, which has seen the return of steady veterans Clark Alexander and Mad Man Boone in recent months. Viewers of Rise Up! will have also seen some new faces near the lower end of the card, including "The Omega Man" Harvey Robbinfield and "Dirty" Duke Freeman. Talented athlete Robbinfield is particularly highly rated and has won all four matches televised on OnDem, although there have been some absolute stinkers thrown in.

Andrews tops online merchandise standings

Another bumper month for the TCW World Heavyweight Champion Aaron Andrews, as he continues to outstrip all-comers in the merchandise rankings. Andrews brought in nearly four-times as much merchandise revenue as his nearest competitor, the newly re-signed Sammy Bach, as he continues to be presented as a huge star. The top ten merchandise sellers are as follows:

  1. Aaron Andrews - $265,192 (up from $261,754)
  2. Sammy Bach - $74,005 (up from $65,982)
  3. Mighty Mo - $35,702 (up from $30,505)
  4. Wolf Hawkins - $28,246 (up from $23,424)
  5. Jay Chord - $12,641 (up from $10,672)
  6. One Man Army - $10,716 (up from $8,996)
  7. Edd Stone - $8,743 (up from $7,085)
  8. Human Arsenal - $5,376 (up from $4,842)
  9. Dazzling Dave Diamond - $4,567 (up from ($3,490)
  10. Benny Benson - $4,419 (up from $4,220)

Spare a thought for Mad Man Boone, who sold four T-shirts throughout the month of April for $99.

April 2020 - results summary!

While TCW capped off a big month with victories for Aaron Andrews and One Man Army, there's been big results elsewhere in the wrestling world! Some highlights:

  • USPW held its big April show in Charlotte, NC, as Rich Money continued his lengthy reign as USPW World Champion, beating Running Wolf in the main event of USPW Freedom Fight! In another big results, Steve Frehley and Nicky Champion look likely to continue their feud, after "The Dark Destroyer" was intentionally disqualified, while a surprise match of the night saw Dominance defeat Law & Justice.
  • Up in New England, Scythe defended the SWF World Heavyweight Title in an action packed four-way match against RemoMikey Lau & Valiant. He and Remo look to continue their feud, given the finish came after Scythe stole a pinfall from Remo after the latter nailed Valiant with a Spear Tackle. It was a cracking main event, which followed an equally excellent Cage Match which saw Rocky Golden beat The Crippler.
  • In Japan, BHOTWG held its annual Test of Prophecies show in Chiba, which was headlined by a disappointing main event that saw Hiroaki Nakasawa beat Tatsuya Toshitara. The match of the night saw two veterans do battle in a titanic struggle, as Koshiro Ino beat Hiroyasu Gakusha. Elsewhere, Kozue Kawashima beat Magnum Kobe in a huge main event at PGHW's Night of FORTITUDE at Kanagawa Stadium,  while Razan Okomoto bested SUKI to win BCG's Yoshifusa Made Grand Prix!

War to Settle the Score - Prediction Contest results!

Finally, we have our results for our War to Settle the Score prediction contest:

  • Wrestling Machine - 5/6 (8/11 overall)

  • TCW International Title Tournament - Quarter-Final, Singles Match: In a poor match, Elliot Thomas defeated Extraordinario, Jr. (11:38) with the Quiet Down. Thomas was given the big chance to work with the Mexican star, but this didn't really work. [44]

  • Meanwhile, TCW World Heavyweight Champion Aaron Andrews then joined us for an in-ring promo. He said he survived one of wrestling's most brutal matches last week at "War to Settle the SCORE", and now has his sights set on Total Mayhem XXIV. He's soon joined by One Man Army, who gets a generous reaction from the crowd. After beating Wolf Hawkins last week in a cage, One Man Army said he was the most deserving of a shot at Andrews' title - and it would be an honour to do so. Just before Andrews accepts, Revolt's Joshua Taylor came out on the ramp and ran down both men in the ring. He said he put on a hell of a show against Andrews two weeks ago, but only lost because others got in the way. All this leads up to a No. 1 Contender's Match next week, between Joshua Taylor and One Man Army. [81]

  • Meanwhile, Danny Fonzarelli bemoaned that neither he nor Human Arsenal were included in the TCW International Title tournament. He pleaded for Arsenal to join him as his partner next week, and Arsenal finally relented. [62]

  • Finally reunited with his girlfriend Vita, Edd Stone delivered a promo backstage explaining that he cannot wait to get his hands on Jay Chord. [75]

  • Tag Team Match: In an extremely short match, The Behemoths (Killer Shark & Titan) (with Eddie Peak & Floyd Goldworthy) defeated Ash Barnaby & Zach Rudge (2:05) with the Big Bite from Shark to Barnaby. [41] After their winning return to form, The Behemoths beat down Barnaby & Rudge while Peak cheers them on. [50]

  • Elsewhere, Revolt's Marc Speed & Matt Hocking again started mocking the tag team champions, Devine Fortune, in a backstage promo. They said that after tonight's match, they are coming for the tag team titles. [52]

  • An unusually subdued Wolf Hawkins gave a short sit down promo with long-time announcer, Jason Azaria. He said he was still dealing with the shock of his loss to One Man Army last week, but had taken the last week to reassess. When asked about his plans for Total Mayhem, Hawkins said Azaria would just have to wait and see. [84]

  • Singles Match: In a bout that had fantastic heat and decent wrestling, Sammy Bach defeated Troy Tornado (8:47) with the Bach on Your Bach. Tough return for Tornado, but he got a good reaction from the crowd. [67] There was another confrontation post-match involving Bach, Jay Chord, Edd Stone & Freddy Huggins, leading two an inter gender trios match next week involving Vita & Laura Catherine Huggins. [74]

  • We get another music video for The American Cobras, Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane, as well as confirmation that they will be debuting on Total Wrestling next week. [19]

  • Roderick Remus gave another unhinged promo backstage, vowing to get on the Total Mayhem card. He again gloated about his attack on Dazzling Dave Diamond two weeks ago, and hyped his International Title Tournament bout next week against Japanese star Magnum Kobe. [64]

  • Elsewhere, Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright hyped up their main event bout against their hated rivals, The Elite. [83]

  • Singles Match: In an extremely short match, Tana the Mighty defeated Maverick (with Mad Man Boone) (4:01) with the Big Fat Samoan Splash. [38] After a successful return, Tana celebrates after the match only for Mad Man Boone to attack with a kendo stick. Tana fights that off with ease, and sends both Boone and Maverick crashing to the outside. [47]

  • Trios Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Bart Biggins, Benny Benson & Flying Jimmy Foxx defeated The Revolt (Greg Gauge, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking) (10:25) with the B-Dropper from Biggins to Hocking. The finish came after Chance Devine & Darryl Fortune distracted the tag team champions. [66] After the match, Devine Fortune & Speed/Hocking brawled, while Gauge & Benson faced off ahead of their International Title Tournament match next week. [50]

  • 2/3 Falls Tag Team Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Mighty Mo & T-Bone Bright defeated The Elite (Eddie Chandler & Nate Johnson) (13:47). Chandler pinned Bright to take the first fall in a Street Fight, before Bright forced Johnson to submit to a Dragon Sleeper to take the second fall in a Submission Match. In a straight third fall, Mo pinned Chandler with the Pounce followed by the Plunging Spinebuster. [68]

He said he will be at ringside for the main event, watching closely. [85]

  • Tag Team Match: In a terrible match, The American Cobras (Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane) defeated Local Talent (Charlie Corner & Brendan Idol) (4:16) with the Marvel Breaker from Molloy to Corner. This was a rough debut for the COTT Tag Team Champions, who looked good out there but didn't get much of a reaction from the crowd. [25]

  • Backstage, Danny Fonzarelli tried to motivate Human Arsenal ahead of their tag team match against The Behemoths. While Fonz was clearly happy at finally getting to team with Arsenal, the grizzled veteran was focused on warming up with some push-ups. [62]

  • Meanwhile, Marc Speed & Matt Hocking gave a promo backstage, furious at last week's humiliation at the hands of the tag team champions, Devine Fortune. They accepted the champions' (off-screen) challenge for a title match next week on Total Wrestling. [57]

  • Tag Team Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, The Behemoths (Killer Shark & Titan) (with Eddie Peak & Floyd Goldworthy) defeated Danny Fonzarelli & Human Arsenal (5:32) with the Titanic Choke Slam from Titan to Fonzarelli. [55] After the match, Floyd Goldworthy celebrated madly with the winners, only for Eddie Peak to say he was continuing his cuts within the Sinner Society - and Floyd Goldworthy was also out. A furious Goldworthy tried arguing, but quickly thought better of it as Killer Shark & Titan moved menacingly towards him. [63]

  • Meanwhile, Mighty Mo was fired up as he spoke proudly of his and T-Bone Bright's win over The Elite last week. He said he was looking to become a two-time TCW International Champion, and was looking forward to beating another member of The Syndicate next week - Chris Flynn. [81]

  • Elsewhere, One Man Army gave an impassioned promo backstage, talking about how his 24 year history in wrestling has been leading up to tonight's main event - where he has the chance to earn a main event spot at Total Mayhem. [82]

  • Ahead of his match, Greg Gauge spoke about how he wants to become a dual champion by claiming the TCW International Title at Total Mayhem. He said he starts that quest tonight, where he hopes to teach former two-time International Champion Benny Benson a lesson after the latter picked up a surprise win in last week's trios match against the Revolt. [66]

  • TCW International Title Tournament - Quarter-Final, Singles Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Greg Gauge defeated Benny Benson (11:34) with the Proton Lock. [66]

  • Intergender Trios "Match": In a match that was more of an angle, Sammy Bach, Edd Stone & Vita defeated Jay Chord, Freddy Huggins & Laura Catherine (~6:00) with the Party's Over from Vita to Laura Catherine. This was a very odd segment, which ended as (brandishing chairs) Bach chased Huggins through the crowd and Stone chased Chord to the backstage area, which allowed Vita to hit Laura Catherine with her boyfriend's finishing move. [62]

  • Meanwhile, Mighty Mo is confronted backstage by Wolf Hawkins, Chris Flynn & The Elite. Hawkins told Mo that he hasn't forgotten that Mo interfered in Hawkins' loss to One Man Army at "War to Settle the Score", and to watch his back because Flynn is under strict instructions to break him in half next week. [77]

  • Elsewhere, flanked by the rest of Revolt, Joshua Taylor said that while he wants to headline Total Mayhem - he'll take a special joy in crushing One Man Army's dream tonight. [63]

  • Tag Team Match: In a decent match, T-Bone Bright & Tana the Mighty defeated The Mad Men (Mad Man Boone & Mad Man Maverick) (5:48) with the Big Fat Samoan Squash from Tana to Maverick. Julian Watson is now going by the name "Mad Man Maverick" - he tried on a few occasions to cheat to win, before he was squashed by Tana the Mighty. [56]

  • Meanwhile, fresh off his return loss last week, Troy Tornado gave a promo backstage talking about how he won't become a forgotten man in TCW. He said he's found a team who thinks in a similar way to him, as the camera pans back to reveal the two-time TCW World Tag Team Champions, Stink & Grunt - The Nation of Filth! Tornado announces the trio has formed a new stable, Hazard Inc. [45]

  • Singles Match: In a bout that had fantastic heat and good wrestling, Joshua Taylor and One Man Army ended up in a draw (18:49). The finish came as the two collided in the middle of the ring as they exchanged signature moves, and both ended up pinning each other with a single outstretched arm. On commentary, Aaron "Ace" Andrews was as shocked as the announcers, as the show went off air with no one quite knowing what this will mean for our main event at Total Mayhem!

Overall Rating: [76]

  • TCW World Champion Aaron Andrews opened the show. He praised both Joshua Taylor and One Man Army for their performances last week, but said he wasn't sure where that left things for the main event. He invited both men out to plead their case for the main event at Total Mayhem XXIV. Taylor was first out, and he was typically brash as he described himself as one of the best pure wrestlers in the world and reminded Ace about how close he went to winning the title just a few short weeks ago. He said that One Man Army was no doubt very tough, but he was past his prime - and Taylor thought we was likely to fail on the big stage. That brought out One Man Army, who said he wasn't going to stoop to Taylor's level - but he promised he would give it his all if given the chance to headline Total Mayhem. Ace spoke of his immense respect for both men - even Taylor, a man he personally despised. He said he considered himself a fighting champion, and so he had the blessing of the TCW Board of Directors to confirm the main event of Total Mayhem XXIV: a Triple Threat match for the title!

  • TCW World Tag Team Titles, Tag Team Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Revolt (Marc Speed & Matt Hocking) defeated Devine Fortune (Chance Fortune & Darryl Devine) (c) (14:48) with the Hock Shock from Hocking to Devine. The finish came as Fortune inadvertently distracted the referee, allowing the challengers to double team Devine. [61]

  • Meanwhile, Mighty Mo was fired up backstage ahead of his tournament match against Chris Flynn in tonight's main event. [83]

  • Elsewhere, Freddy Huggins was clearly nervous, as he steeled himself for a one-on-one confrontation with Sammy Bach later tonight. [78]

  • Trios Match: In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but poor wrestling, Hazard Inc. (Troy Tornado, Stink & Grunt) defeated Bart Biggins, Benny Benson & Flying Jimmy Foxx (6:18) with the Star Maker from Tornado to Biggins. [50]

  • Singles Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Dazzling Dave Diamond defeated Roderick Remus (8:07) with the Diamond Mine. [58] Remus threw another tantrum after the match, and again attacked Triple D - this time with a steel chair - in the ultimate display of poor sportsmanship. [64]

  • Meanwhile, Wolf Hawkins was flanked with Chris Flynn and hyped up Flynn's tournament match with Mighty Mo later tonight. Hawkins said he'd be watching with interest from ringside, but promised he wouldn't get involved. [78]

  • We then got an in-ring promo which saw "The Elation Sensation" Sammy Bach confront his nemesis Freddy Huggins in the ring. This segment was absolute fire, and some of the best stuff we've seen from both men in TCW. Huggins was flippant for most of the segment, but turned serious as Bach described his tendency to attack from behind as cowardly and questioned the legacy that Huggins wanted to leave in the sport. Eventually, before things boiled over too much, the two agreed to settle their differences at Total Mayhem XXIV.

  • Tag Team Match: In a decent match, The American Cobras (Marvel Molloy & Storm Spillane) defeated The Behemoths (Killer Shark & Titan) (with Eddie Peak) (7:40) with the Marvel Breaker from Molloy to Shark. The finish came with the referee down, which saw Floyd Goldworthy unexpectedly come down the entrance ramp. As Eddie Peak told him to get lost, Goldworthy started laughing, and beckoned Nick Booth (clad in a leather jacket and wearing a pair of jeans) to join him - with the returning Booth storming into the ring and taking down both Behemoths (his former stable mates) with a double clothesline. [54] Goldworthy and Booth celebrated after the match, leaving Eddie Peak fuming in the ring alongside Killer Shark & Titan. [48]

  • Meanwhile, Elliot Thomas gave a rather pedestrian promo hyping up his bout next week with Greg Gauge. [41]

  • Singles Match: In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Jay Chord defeated Mad Man Boone (5:57) with two Cradle Drivers. Chord totally disrespected the hardcore legend. [69] Edd Stone was at ringside on commentary for this bout, and after the bout gave a scathing promo against Chord. Stone challenged Chord to a one-on-one match at Total Mayhem to settle their differences, but Chord just brushed him off again. However, he didn't bank on walking into a trap of sorts - as he was hit over the head with a Singapore Cane by Mad Man Boone, who was clearly unhappy with the disrespect shown in their singles match. As Stone walked back up the ramp, Chord came to and accepted his challenge - but insisted on it being a Last Man Standing Match!

  • Meanwhile, Revolt's Marc Speed & Matt Hocking celebrate their title win backstage. [55]

  • TCW International Title Tournament, Singles Match: In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Chris Flynn (with Wolf Hawkins) defeated Mighty Mo (11:56) with the Choke Bomb. The finish came after Wolf Hawkins interfered and sneakily attacked Mighty Mo. [78] After the bout, Hawkins and Flynn continue to beat down Mo and drag him towards the backstage area. Mo briefly fights back, but he's eventually sent headfirst by Hawkins into some sound and lighting equipment, which sets the sparks going off. This didn't quite have the impact they were after, as Mo was attended to by medical staff as the show went off air.

Overall Rating: [84]
