Super Estrellas De La Lucha Libre [FCW, CVerse]

Recommended Posts

Professional wrestling is a way of life. It is a morality play acted out in front of your eyes. It is good versus evil where you can live vicariously through your hero as they do all the things you wish you could do in your otherwise mundane life. They can fight the villain. They can flip off the boss. They can be what you dream about. On the island, it is woven into the very fiber of the people. Wrestling is the heartbeat. It is a place that only the bravest of the brave can survive.  Where men can become heroes, immortalized on the sides of buildings, and tattooed on flesh. Where men can become villains who must duck batteries and watch out for piss filled water guns. It is a place of fireballs and barbed wire. Of blood and guts wrestling where only the toughest survive. It isn’t merely entertainment. It isn’t merely a sports-centric soap opera or dramatized violence. It isn’t just predetermined stunt sequences. It is the lifeblood of a community. It is the island where legacies are forged, where immortality can be reached.

I don't think I've been in from the start of any of your diaries other than RMW, but this feels like such a different style of company than I've seen you do. Excited to see where you go with it - I feel like everyone is familiar with FCW based on the fact that so many players buy them out a couple years into their games, but not many people have played it since back in the older versions of the game.

As 2020 gets underway, FREEDOM Caribbean Wrestling is ready for another exciting year of action here on Puerto Rico. At the end of 2019, Comissioner Puerto Rican Power met with representatives from the Confederation of the Territories and agreed to make FCW the official Puerto Rican affiliate of the expanding COTT. With this expansion of the COTT, FCW can officially announce that the brand new COTT United States Tag Team Titles will crown their first champions in the main event of FREEDOM Fighters. This is an exciting opportunity as FCW looks to grow into being a culturally institution here in Puerto Rico. In addition to this blockbuster main event, FREEDOM Fighters will feature a massive ten man tag when Billy Russell and Kanishoki team up with the Latino Kings to face five members of House Handsome. Ox Mastadon and Bull Wrecker continue their rivalry as they meet in a No Disqualification Match. With these two big bulls locking horns, no place in San Juan is going to be safe.

As FREEDOM Fighters kicks off, the Commissioner of FCW and former six-time Puerto Rican Champion, Puerto Rican Power comes walking out to the ring. He welcomes everyone to the San Juan High School for the first FCW show of 2020. He says there are exciting things planned for FCW this year. This is a year of growth and change for FCW and it starts tonight. It starts in the main event as FCW is proud to crown the first ever COTT United States Tag Team Champions when Freedom Force take on Hostile Intent. The rabid crowd roars with approval. Power exits so we can get to the show. (85)

Mutant & The Gonzalez Family vs. Martyr & The Harlem Knights

The opening six man tag pit Mutant and the Gonzalez Family against the crazed masked Martyr and the promising team of The Harlem Knights. Mutant has quickly become one of the most popular wrestlers in all of Puerto Rico and clearly there are high expectations for young Marco Gonzalez. This was a great opportunity for both of those men, but also Carlos Gonzalez, to showcase their talent and get the crowd warmed up. The Harlem Knights look like a good tag team and were able to generate some heat – but the crowd in attendance was ready to boo them anyway. Mutant hit his trademarked Tina-Turner on Curtis Shaw for the win, much to the pleasure of the crowd.

In a decent match, Mutant and The Gonzalez Family defeated Martyr and The Harlem Knights in 9:39 when Mutant pinned Curtis Shaw with The Tina-Turner. Marco Gonzalez was the weak link, struggling to keep up with everyone else's in-ring performance. [36]

"The Jackhammer" Joffy Laine vs. King Kong Kennedy

Twenty-eight year old Joffy Laine, was presented with his toughest challenge of his young career when he had to take on the near-500 pound King Kong Kennedy. The much heavier Kennedy controlled most of the match, using his size to punish Joffy, but the Jackhammer lived up to his name when he was able to lift the big man off his feet for a body slam and then a Death Spiral to get the win.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Joffy Laine defeated King Kong Kennedy in 7:07 by pinfall with a Death Spiral. [44]

Ox Mastadon vs. Bull Wrecker

Our third match of the night was a wild brawl between Ox Mastadon and Bull Wrecker. The two men are two of the strongest men on the FCW roster and they have been at each other’s throat for the past three months. This match got wild, furniture moved, both men got busted open. Big Ox Mastadon got the win with his Ten Ton Splash.

In a bout that had good heat and decent wrestling, Ox Mastadon defeated Bull Wrecker in 7:55 by pinfall with a Ten Ton Splash. [38]

Billy Russell, Kanishoki, & The Latino Kings vs. House Handsome w/ Clare South

The ten man tag continued the ongoing struggles between The Latino Kings and House Handsome (while also allowing Dreadnought to debut alongside the people who recruited him to FCW – House Handsome). It was also Clare South’s debut in the company as the new valet for House Handsome. She was excellent, especially her interplay with Xavi Ferrera. Xavi, Rob, and Ricochet came out with their belts – because House Handsome controls all of the titles in FCW. Billy Russell, the beloved former Mixed Martial Artist looked excellent and even at 45 years of age he can still go. He was purposefully limited in the match so as to keep him special and significant. The big Kanishoki took the fall when Xavi hit the High Impact Frog Splash after Juggernaut and Dreadnought lifted the big man up and dropped him with a big Assisted Spinebuster.

In a decent match, House Handsome (Ricochet Ramone, Rob Reynolds, Xavi Ferrera, Dreadnought and Juggernaut Jones) defeated Billy Russell, Kanishoki, Rudy Velasquez, Jesus Chavez and Hector Galindo in 18:48 when Xavi Ferrera pinned Kanishoki with a High Impact Frog Splash. In terms of in-ring work, Billy Russell was head and shoulders above everyone else. [40]

Freedom Force vs. Hostile Intent w/ Clare South

The main event pit Kip Keenan and Bradford Peverell took on Hostile Intent. None of these men are strangers to each other. Peverell and Stranger have been in FCW since it opened in September of 2007. Keenan has been one of the fastest rising stars in FCW in the past five years, becoming the lead hero and Frederique has been a major player since arriving in 2018. With four of the biggest stars in the company, this match was everything a main event in Puerto Rico needs to be. It was physical and intense. Referee Ryan Holland gave the four men a lot of leeway within the rules to brawl around the ring. The veteran duo seized control when they dumped Bradford Peverell over the barricade and isolated Kip Keenan. Keenan made the big comeback and Peverell came in like a house of fire with big right hands – living up to his Hands of Stone monicker. It looked like Freedom Force had the match won when Clare South distracted Ryan Holland and from the back, Giant Brody hit the ring and laid out Kip Keenan. This allowed Handsome Stranger to hit the Vanity Bonfire and get the win.

In an exceptional match, Hostile Takeover defeated Freedom Force in 24:53 when Handsome Stranger pinned Kip Keenan with a Vanity Bonfire following interference from Giant Brody. Frederique carried the match in terms of in-ring performance. [51]

image.jpeg

image.pngimage.pngimage.png

Handsome Stranger and Frederique stand in the middle of the FCW ring. The crowd boos heavily at the two men, feeling they only one because of Giant Brody’s interference while Ryan Holland was distracted by Clare South. Handsome Stranger raises the Puerto Rican Championship high above his head as Commissioner Power enters the ring holding the brand new COTT US Tag Team Titles. He looks conflicted as he hands each man a championship. Stranger and Frederique hold their new tag titles high above their heads as the ring announcer thanks everyone for coming. [78]

"The Jackhammer" Joffy Laine vs. Sheik Ali Al-Amin

The thirteenth installment of The Fight for FREEDOM started with rising babyface Joffy Laine taking on Sheik Ali Al-Amin. The wild man from the Middle East spent the match trying to bust Joffy open and take the match to the floor, but Joffy was able to keep the match in the ring and keep his body clean from blood. Laine was able to hit his Death Spiral – the spinning underhook Fallaway Slam that he has used as his finisher. He got the pinfall and the victory.

In a decent match, Joffy Laine defeated Sheik Ali Al-Amin in 5:41 by pinfall with a Death Spiral. [46]

Young & Wasted vs. House of Handsome (Juggernaut Jones & Dreadnought) w/ Clare South

Young & Wasted had a tough task ahead of them as they took on the massive duo from House of Handsome – Juggernaut Jones and Dreadnought. Young & Wasted struggled to pull off any offense – they certainly tried but they weren’t really able to get Juggernaut or Dreadnought to register their offense. Instead, the two monsters from House of Handsome essentially ate them up. All of their offense was built around their power. It was slow and impactful and it got the message across that Juggernaut and Dreadnought are two titans who are going to be hard to stop. Juggernaut hit his Pounce to get the victory for his duo.

In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Juggernaut Jones and Dreadnought defeated Young & Wasted in 6:55 when Juggernaut Jones pinned Bret Kyle with The Pounce. [25]

Jesus Chavez vs. Xavi Ferrera (c) w/ Clare South

The first of three championship matches was up next. Jesus Chavez has not held championship gold in years despite being such a prominent member of the roster and of The Latino Kings. Xavi Ferrera is a highly regarded young talent and has been building a name for himself with internet fans. They had plenty of time here and Chavez dominated the match early with his power and Xavi took several big bumps off of Chavez’s power moves. With a little assistance from a well-timed Clare South distraction, Xavi was able to seize control. He focused on Chavez’s knee, trying to take the base out of the powerful man. Chavez sold well and struggled to maintain his base while Xavi worked him over. At one point, Xavi hit three successive Dragon Screws to Chavez’s knee that looked particularly wicked. Chavez made a big, one legged come back. He tried to lift Xavi up for a big powerslam but his knee gave out. Xavi rolled him up and scored a pinfall victory that left Jesus very frustrated. Xavi took his belt and ran for the hills with Clare South.

In a decent match, Xavi Ferrera defeated Jesus Chavez in 17:19 by pinfall with a roll up. Xavi Ferrera makes defence number two of the FCW People's Championship title. [32]

The Latino Kings vs. Relentless (c) w/ Clare South

The other two members of The Latino Kings were in action as they challenged Relentless for the Tag Team Titles next – and it is also the third match that has featured members of House of Handsome. The crowd was into this match and firmly behind The Latino Kings who were looking for their sixth reign with the FCW Tag Team Titles. Ramone and Reynolds work very well together as a team and their styles definitely compliment one another and the Kings are such a seasoned duo that they know where each other are going to be without having to think. This match stayed mostly to the ring but it did get wild inside the ring with all four men brawling at one time. Hector Galindo spilled Ricochet Ramone to the outside and then hit a big dive on him that woke the people up. While referee Ryan Holland was checking on them, Clare South rolled into the ring and cracked Rudy Velasquez in the back of the head with her purse – which had to have been loaded because Velasquez fell right into Rob Reynolds who lifted Velasquez up and dropped him down with his Real Deal Rocker [Head Drop Suplex]. When Ryan Holland got back in the ring, Rob was making the pinfall and Relentless got their first defense of the Tag Team Titles.

In a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Relentless defeated The Latino Kings in 15:18 when Rob Reynolds pinned Rudy Velasquez with a Real Deal Rocker after Clare South interfered. Relentless make defence number one of the FCW Tag Team titles. [42]

While Relentless were celebrating in the ring with their titles, former three-time FCW Tag Team Champions, the Puerto Rican Boys walked out from the back. Kip Keenan vs. Giant Brody

Kip Keenan and Giant Brody has been building for months, ever since Giant Brody cost Kip Keenan in a title match against Handsome Stranger in October. Last month, Brody cost Keenan and Peverell the COTT United States Tag Team Titles. This match was the wildest match so far and Ryan Holland gave them a lot of leeway in it. Brody and Keenan brawled all around the ring and ringside area – and at one point Brody lifted Keenan up in a Gorilla Press Slam position and tossed him over the barricade into the rabid fans filling up the San Juan High School gymnasium. The fans helped Kip back to his feet and Brody wisely did not follow Keenan into the crowd. Keenan hit a Belly to Belly Suplex where he sent Brody crashing into the guard rail. Back in the ring, Keenan went for another Belly To Belly – his trademark move, but Brody raked Keenan’s eyes to get out of it. Keenan stumbled away and when he returned, Brody hit his Single-Handed Choke Slam on Keenan and got the big victory.

In a superb match, Giant Brody defeated Kip Keenan in 14:02 by pinfall with a Single Handed Choke Slam. [50]

Mutant vs. Handsome Stranger (c) w/ Clare South

The main event had a big match feel. Handsome Stranger has ruled atop FCW for the past year as Puerto Rican Champion. He’s defended the title against Billy Russell, Kip Keenan, Bradley Peverell, Ox Mastadon, Carlos Gonzalez, and Joffy Laine. Mutant has never had a shot at the Puerto Rican Championship, despite two reigns as an FCW Tag Team Champion. Mutant had the size and strength advantage, but Handsome Stranger is a wily veteran. Mutant controlled the early part of the match but Stranger was able to gain control of the match by digging his fingers into the eyes of Mutant. Mutant sold well and the crowd was really against Handsome Stranger. Stranger has nuclear level heat here in Puerto Rico and it created a great environment for the championship contest. Clare South was excellent on the outside of the ring. Mutant was able to make a big comeback and Stranger bumped all over the place for him. Mutant hit his version of a suplex-into-a-powerslam that he calls The Tina-Turner and got the three count, surprising the crowd and ending Handsome Stranger’s long reign as Puerto Rican Champion.

In an exceptional match, Mutant defeated Handsome Stranger in 25:50 by pinfall with The Tina-Turner. Mutant wins the FCW Puerto Rican title. [54]

Puerto Rican Power.png

What do you call something that has consumed you for thirty years? What do you call something that has not just been your life’s work, but your life’s passion? Your life’s obsession? I don’t know what to call it, I just know what it is. It’s the thing I love more than anything in this world. Yo soy uno legendo. At least here, on my island. I can’t walk down the streets of any city or town or village here and not have people know me. They scream my name. They tell stories of my conquests. Of the night I pinned Sam Strong. Or Sam Keith. Or Dread. Or Rip Chord. Or Bruce the Giant. They tell stories of the men who came to my island to become king and were sent back to the mainland without a crown. I’m painted on the sides of buildings. Murals of me plaster San Juan and Bayamon and Carolina.

What do you call something that has made you more than a man? That has allowed you to sip from the chalice of immortality? Me hicieron un dios. When Sheik Mustafa threw the fireball in my face they tried to set his car on fire…with him in it. My people love me. When I was laid up in a hospital bed after my heart attack, I got thousands of cards. People waited outside the hospital to see me.

Do you know what that does to a man? What that kind of love does to a man? ¿Qué me ha hecho? When I had to hang up the boots, I thought I would die. That sounds hyperbolic, I know. It sounds like the thing a kid says when they don’t get their way… But this was all I knew. Era todo lo que era. Would I still be me if I couldn’t wrestle anymore? Would they still love me if I couldn’t stand in the ring as their champion?

The answer was yes. The answer is yes. They still love me. I hear it every time I come out. I can feel it in my core.

I watch Mutant and Mikel. Mikel, my friend and trusted advisor. The man who has taken the load since I can no longer carry it. I knew I couldn’t replace me. So I went the other way. Made a heel the center of the universe here. Made heat the center of the universe. They hate him almost as much as they love me, but it’s not about me. It’s about those two, right now. I lean forward, my chin on my hands. They are dance partners meant for each other and the people…The people are hooked. I can feel it the way I can feel their love.

Mutant lifts Mikel up and it’s like time stands still. The Tina-Turner is excellent. It is picture perfect. Ryan’s three count is perfectly timed. Dramatic. Building the moment to this climax. When his hand strikes the mat for a third time and Mutant has done it.

I stand up. I have another job to do and hopefully…Hopefully I can make them love him, not like they love me, that’s not possible. But maybe…Just maybe… There is room on this Olympus for more than just me.

What do you call something that has consumed you for thirty years? What do you call something that has not just been your life’s work, but your life’s passion? Your life’s obsession? I don’t know what to call it, I just know what it is. It’s the thing I love more than anything in this world. Yo soy uno legendo.

I'm not trying to point out writing errors (and I'm the first one that makes them) but this is in the wrong language. "legendo" is a portuguese word. In spanish is "leyenda". It should be "Yo soy una leyenda" ("I am a legend"). In spanish "Yo soy uno legendo" for a Puerto Rican who speaks spanish would sound very similar to "yo soy uno leyendo" which means "I'm someone reading". Then it would change the meaning completely in a fun way 😂
