Great Britain Made
WCW Monday Nitro comes to you live from the Manley Field House in Syracuse, New York.  Mike Tenay, Bobby Heenan and Steve McMichael welcome everyone to the show.  Tenay announces that he is here to replace Eric Bischoff.  But there will be more on that later on.  'American Made' begins to play and here comes the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan!  Hogan marches out to the ring as we see a replay of what happened last week where he brawled with his friend Randy Savage.  Hogan enters the ring and begins with 'Let me tell you something, brother.'  He begins talking about the attack last week by Randy Savage and says that's not the Macho Man he knows, brother.  In fact, he thinks that there's someone who's been in the ear of the Macho Man.  He says that he will be there in the pit with Piper at the end of the night to get answers from Savage.  Before Hogan can wrap up, he gets interrupted with an unexpected theme song.

wKwHLBh.gif

Lord Steven Regal walks out from the back and walks toward the ring.  Regal climbs the stairs and brushes his feet off on the apron before stepping in the ring.  Hogan looks confused at this interruption and asks Regal why he's here.  Regal says that is an absolute disgrace that such a brutish wrestler like Hulk Hogan is the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.  Regal calls Hogan a brutish fossil of a decayed era that is better off forgotten.  He says that there is no way that someone like Hogan should hold that sacred gold.  So, he challenges Hogan to a match next week on Monday Nitro for the WCW World Heavyweight title.  Hogan tells Regal, brother, he'd be glad to defend the title but he cannot defend the title until World War 3 where he faces the Macho Man.  Hogan says that he would be willing to fight Regal in a match next week that is not for the title.  Regal agrees to the match and Hogan asks him whatcha gonna do when the power of Hulkamania and all these Hulkamaniacs runs wild over you?!?!  Regal smiles and offers a handshake, stating that when a gentleman makes an agreement, he shakes hands.  Hogan pauses for a moment and then shakes the hand of Regal.  Regal steps in and tells Hogan that he's going to stretch him out.  Regal releases Hogan's hand and takes a step back before exiting the ring.  Hogan celebrates in the ring before walking out.

Match #1
WCW World Television Title Match
10 Minute Time Limit Match
Diamond Dallas Page (w/Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle) defends vs. Jim Neidhart

We have our first match of the night as the WCW World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page, along with Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle, defends that title against Jim The Anvil Neidhart.  Neidhart is a veteran of the squared circle and shows off his power throughout the match.  DDP, though, is willing to do certain things that Neidhart is just unwilling to do at this moment.  That includes using Maxx Muscle in an attack on Neidhart outside the ring while Diamond Doll distracts the referee.  The action returns inside the ring and Neidhart rallies for a few moments.  Neidhart lifts DDP on his shoulders, setting up for the Anvil Flattener but DDP rakes his face and then slips out behind him.  Neidhart staggers around and then turns toward DDP -- Diamond Cutter!  Neidhart is planted.  DDP makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Diamond Dallas Page successfully defends the WCW World Television title in 8:41!

New Authority
We go to the top of the staging area where Lanny Poffo is standing by.  Poffo hypes tonight's Monday Nitro, which will include the Road Warriors taking on the Miracle Violence Connection and Shawn Michaels going one on one with Mike Rotunda.  But he is baffled by the new announce team of WCW, so to clarify what has happened, he brings out none other than Eric Bischoff.  Bischoff walks out all smiles.  He shakes hands with Poffo and then takes the microphone.  Bischoff announces that he has been placed in a new position here in WCW.  He says that he is the new representative of the WCW Championship Committee here on Monday Nitro.  That means that he is in control of this show and will make the decisions here from the main event to the opening match.  He says that all of his decisions are final and that means that this is final as well -- Hulk Hogan will take on Lord Steven Regal next week in a non title match.  Bischoff reminds everyone that he is going to do what's best for business and best for Monday Nitro.  He promises to make Nitro the best show on television week after week.  Speaking of being the best show, let's go to the ring for our next match.

Match #2
Pretty Powerful vs. Ron Simmons and Justin Bradshaw

The next match features the team of Hercules Hernandez and Paul Roma, Pretty Powerful, taking on Ron Simmons and his mystery partner.  This mystery partner turns out to be Justin 'Hawk' Bradshaw.  Mike Tenay talks about Bradshaw football player, both professionally and in college.  He is a former tag team champion on the independent scene and hails from the Bradshaw Ranch.  Pretty Powerful get the advantage early on and keep Simmons in their corner, using frequent tags and double team moves to keep him down.  Simmons manages to fight his way back and makes a hot tag to Justin Bradshaw.  Bradshaw comes in with quick clotheslines and a powerful fallaway slam on Paul Roma.  Bradshaw knocks Hernandez out of the ring and tags Simmons back in.  The All-American Ron Simmons grabs Roma and hits the Dominator, laying out the pretty part of the team.  Simmons makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Ron Simmons and Justin Bradshaw win at 9:57!

What A Rush
As the crowd celebrates the victory by Ron Simmons and Justin Bradshaw, we go to a video recorded promo by Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors.  Ellering says that tonight is a pivotal night in professional wrestling because two of the toughest teams in professional wrestling will be doing battle to advance to World War 3.  Hawk and Animal flex behind Ellering and Hawk says that tonight they step in the ring with Steve Williams and Terry Gordy.  But the Road Warriors are here to lay waste to anyone who stands in their way.  Animal speaks up and says that it doesn't matter whether it's Miracle Violence Connection, the Funks, the Steiners or Lex Luger and Barry Windham.  They are on their way to becoming the next WCW World Tag Team Champions at Starrcade.  Hawk says that they are prepared to snack on danger and dine on death.  Ohhh what a rush!  Animal and Hawk flex again as we go to the ring for this next match.

Match #3
Semifinals Of Number One Contender Tag Team Tournament
Road Warriors (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Miracle Violence Connection (w/Mike Rotunda)

Our first hour main event of the night features the Road Warriors with Paul Ellering against Miracle Violence Connection along with Mike Rotunda.  David Manning will referee this bout.  All four men meet in the center of the ring, staring each other down.  None of the four men are ready to back down until Mike Rotunda steps up and brings his men back to their corner.  Rotunda gives them some last minute instructions before exiting the ring.  The bell sounds and the Road Warriors get the early advantage, attacking and knocking Terry Gordy out of the ring.  They focus in on Steve Williams, sending him to the ropes but he hits them both with a double clothesline!  Dr. Death throws Hawk with a suplex and then takes down Animal with a body slam.  Williams gets the crowd behind him until he gets into an argument with Paul Ellering.  This allows Animal to strike him from behind and bring him into the corner of the Road Warriors.  Williams gets stuck in the corner of Animal and Hawk.  Animal sends Williams to the ropes and drops him with a powerslam: One...Two...Kickout!  The crowd gets behind the Varsity Club team.  Mike Rotunda tries to get Williams fired up.  Dr. Death manages to fight back when Hawk is in the ring and catches Hawk with a belly-to-belly suplex before getting to his corner and making the hot tag to Terry Gordy!

Terry Bam Bam Gordy rushes in and attacks both Hawk and Animal, who is now the legal man.  All four men get in the ring and do battle.  Gordy hits Animal with a Samoan drop and makes the cover, scoring only a two count.  Gordy adjusts the tape on his thumb, setting up Animal for the Oriental Spike!  Paul Ellering climbs up on the apron, drawing the attention of both the referee and Terry Gordy.  Mike Rotunda runs around and grabs Ellering, yanking him off the apron to the floor.  Rotunda stands over Ellering.  Gordy turns back to Animal, being taken down with a clothesline.  Hawk moves onto the apron and takes the tag in as Animal lifts Gordy up onto his shoulders.  Hawk heads to the top turnbuckle -- Doomsday Device!  Gordy is taken down hard with the finisher of the Road Warriors!  Animal catches Williams with another powerslam as Hawk covers Gordy: One...Two...Three!  The Road Warriors advance in 10:32!

Another Open Challenge
To end the first hour, we go to a video promo with the WCW World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page.  He stands alongside Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle.  DDP says that his first open challenge went exactly as he thought it would.  He says that Jim Neidhart felt the bang.  But that's no surprise because DDP is the top champion in this company.  He says that is why he doesn't feel the need to participate in the World War 3 battle royal.  He says he doesn't want a shot at Hulk Hogan's title because he doesn't need to step down.  So, he is issuing an open challenge for anyone to face him at World War 3 for the WCW World Television title.  He says he is ready to face anyone on the Monday Nitro roster but that wrestler better be ready to feel the bang!  DDP makes the diamond sign and laughs before we go back to the ringside area to start the second hour.

Answering A Challenge
The second hour begins with the arrival of the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels out to the ring.  Michaels receives boos from this crowd here in Syracuse and seems to almost revel in it for a moment.  He gets on the microphone and says that maybe if this crowd was there, the Orangemen could have beaten Virginia Tech at football.  Or maybe John Wallace would have proven himself good enough to go to the NBA.  Michaels throws some more insults at Syracuse, including saying that they are an embarrassment to the state of New York.  He says that's hard to do considering the fact that the state of New York is already an embarrassment.  But, on to more pressing matters, it seems that the man he beat at Halloween Havoc wants to step in the ring with him again.  He says that Sting even decided to mention that Michaels is good enough to be in a television show in December.  He says that, yes, he will be leaving before Starrcade and starring in a television series.  He says that he is above WCW and above Monday Nitro.  As far as the challenge goes?  I accept!  He says he will be happy to show Sting why he is called the main event just like he's going to show that Orangeman Mike Rotunda that later on tonight.  He reminds everyone that he is the Showstopper.  Before he can go into a pose, though, he gets interrupted by someone walking down toward the ring.

8QV9pVX.gif

That someone is none other than 'Superstar' Steve Austin!  Austin marches with authority down to the ring and steps inside.  Shawn Michaels tells him that he must have taken a wrong turn from the catering area, which is where he belongs as he watches the real superstars in the ring.  Austin tells Michaels that he needs to shut his yap before Austin shuts it for him.  Austin says that he is sick and tired of sitting in the back and watching and waiting for his turn.  He says that the people in the back keeping telling him that these moments are for someone else.  They're for Hulk Hogan or Randy Savage or...Shawn Michaels.  So, Austin has to do something to get himself noticed.  So, he says that for the last few weeks he's been coming out here and taking down men like Greg Valentine or Psicosis or Scott Armstrong.  He says that's not enough.  Nuh uh!  This is where it's at right now.  It's Steve Austin and it's Shawn Michaels in the ring here in Syracuse, New York.  Now, the Superstar knows you have a match tonight and that's fine.  So, you don't touch me and I won't touch you.  But what I want to know is are you willing to step in the ring with Steve Austin?  Monday Nitro in two weeks, the week before World War 3, are you willing to get in the ring with the Superstar?  Michaels asks him if he's done now and Austin just motions for him to talk.  Michaels says that Austin is not even a has-been.  He says that Austin is a never-was.  He says he can prove that in two weeks.  He accepts the challenge.  Michaels goes for the Superkick but Austin dodges.  Austin goes for the Stun Gun but Michaels manages to wiggle free and escape out to the ringside area.  Michaels and Austin share looks at one another as we go to another promo.

Come Out And Play
This video promo takes place out on a beach somewhere.  The sound of the water can be heard in the background as the waves move in and out.  It is nighttime and the full moon is high in the air.  The cameras focus in on one man sitting there on the beach.  This man introduces himself as Raven.  Raven says that the scars that he will leave on the wrestlers here in WCW are nothing compared to the mental scars that he has suffered throughout his lifetime.  He says that between conception and creation falls the Raven.  He says that history has shown that so many moments get lost to so many people.  He says that everyone ignores his pain.  He is forced to live with it every single day because nobody cares.  He says that the darkness is going to fall over WCW because now it will be time for them to feel his pain.  Now, it will be time for Raven to rise up.  It will be time to spread pain to each and every WCW wrestler on the roster.  It doesn't matter whether it's Randy Savage or Warrior or Diamond Dallas Page or Hulk Hogan.  Each of them will know the depths to which the Raven's darkness can sink.  None shall survive.  Quote the Raven...Nevermore.  Raven turns his back on the camera and extends his arms out in the cross pose before we go back to the ring.

Match #4
WCW World Tag Team Titles Match
Luger & Windham defend vs. Christian & Hardcastle

Our penultimate match of the night features Lex Luger and Barry Windham defending the WCW World Tag Team titles against the team of Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle.  Cage and Hardcastle requested this match last week, while Luger and Windham accepted.  The match is definitely better than it might have been as it was given some time during this second hour.  Cage and Hardcastle showcase their talent in this match.  Cage scores a near fall on Barry Windham following a fireman's carry into a gutbuster.  Windham gets caught in the corner of Cage and Hardcastle.  He fights back, though, and manages to tag in Luger but the referee was distracted by Hardcastle and didn't see the tag.  Cage comes in and becomes the legal man again.  Cage climbs to the top turnbuckle and hits a top rope sunset flip for a two count on Windham.  Windham manages to get some momentum going, knocking Cage to the mat with his own vertical suplex.  He manages to make the tag and in comes the Total Package.  Lex Luger rushes in and hits both Cage and Hardcastle, knocking Hardcastle off the apron.  Luger sends Cage to the ropes and hits him with the powerslam!  Luger plays to the crowd, flexing his muscles.  The Total Package picks up Cage and lifts him onto his shoulders for the Human Torture Rack!  Barry Windham takes out Sexton Hardcastle, who tries to interfere.  Cage struggles and then is forced to submit.  Lex Luger and Barry Windham successfully defend the WCW World Tag Team titles in 14:52!

Snarl.  Growl.
Before we go back to the ring for our main event, we go to a promo featuring Warrior!  Warrior says he was sitting high up in a castle looking down upon the Monday Nitro roster and he has come down for one reason and that is to attack and keep coming!  That means that the Warrior is going to take on 39 other men at the end of the month in the World War3 battle royal.  He says that he is going to survive because he has all of the warriors on his back helping him to eliminate all those other wrestlers.  Warrior says that at World War 3, there will be a bomb detonating in the ring and there will only be one man left.  That one man is going to be the true warrior and that one man is going to go forward to Starrcade and fight for the WCW World Heavyweight title.  Warrior says that he is the one man that will fight for the title.  Whether it's Hulk Hogan or whether it's Randy Savage doesn't matter because all of them will fall at the might of the Warrior!  Warrior snarls and growls and flexes his muscles before we go to the ring.

VqASadl.gifEPjkltT.jpgAwP9XT9.gif

Match #5
Shawn Michaels vs. Mike Rotunda

It's main event time and what a showdown we have here tonight as Shawn Michaels takes on Mike Rotunda.  The Syracuse crowd is definitely on the side of the Syracuse legend Mike Rotunda.  Rotunda competed in football and amateur wrestling here as one of the members of the Orangemen, or so says Mike Tenay.  The crowd cheers wildly as Rotunda moves in quickly on Michaels at the sound of the bell.  Rotunda uses his amateur wrestling background to keep Michaels on his toes in the early going.  He takes Michaels down and goes for an early pin.  It only gets a one count and Michaels slides out of the ring, pacing around the ring to recover from the early onslaught.  Rotunda waits patiently in the ring until Michaels slides back in.  Michaels gets the advantage when he rakes the eyes of Rotunda.  He catches Rotunda with a Teardrop Suplex, scoring a two count.  The crowd cheers every single move of Rotunda and boos loudly when Michaels is in control.  Michaels hits Rotunda with a flying forearm and then kips up.  He heads to the top turnbuckle.  Michaels leaps and catches Rotunda with his version of the diving elbow drop!  Michaels makes the cover and, again, scores only a two count.  This time it's when Rotunda gets his foot on the bottom rope.  Michaels locks Rotunda in a rear chinlock, holding him down on the mat.  Rotunda listens as the crowd begins to chant his name and clap their hands.  Rotunda begins to rise to his feet and shifts, taking down Michaels with a belly-to-back suplex!

Both Shawn Michaels and Mike Rotunda lay on the mat as referee Nick Patrick begins the count.  Both men slowly work their way to their feet, with Rotunda getting up first.  Rotunda moves in with some punches to Michaels and then a kick to the gut.  He drops Michaels with a double underhook suplex, bridging for a two count.  Rotunda picks up Michaels and lifts him onto his shoulders, setting him up for the Airplane Spin.  But Michaels wiggles his way free and brings Rotunda over with a sunset flip for a two count.  Both men get to their feet and Michaels moves in, grappling with Rotunda.  He uses this moment to hit Rotunda with a low blow kick behind the referee's back.  Rotunda falls to his knees and Michaels moves back into the corner.  Michaels tunes up the band and waits for Rotunda to get to his feet.  Rotunda does and staggers toward Michaels -- Sweet Chin Music!  The Superkick connects, sending Rotunda down to the mat.  Michaels makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Shawn Michaels gets the win at 19:54!
Shawn Michaels p. Mike Rotunda =86

In The Pit With Piper
Once the ring is cleared, it is set up for the final segment of the night during a commercial break.  Roddy Piper walks out from the back to boos from this crowd.  Piper enters the ring and takes a microphone.  He welcomes everyone In The Pit With Piper!  He says that he is going to begin his segment by playing the fight song for Syracuse Orangemen.  He invites everyone to stand on their feet for the song.  The song that plays is NOT the fight song for Syracuse.  It's actually 'Loser' by Beck!  Piper falls over laughing in the ring as the boos rain down upon him.  The music turns off quickly and Piper shows us a video of what happened last week between Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan.  The video shows Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels defeating Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan.  Following the match, Savage and Hogan brawl.  It ends with Savage hitting the Flying Elbow Drop on Hogan and then pushing Miss Elizabeth away.  Piper invites Randy Savage to come In The Pit With Piper.

2i5yKQl.gifoKxpOIp.gif

It is surprising that Randy Savage doesn't come out to the ring alone.  Savage comes out with Sensational Sherri Martel.  The Macho Man holds the ropes open for her and Martel enters the ring.  Savage comes in after her and then looks Piper up and down.  There's still no love lost between these two men.  Martel steps up and begins hyping the true Macho Man Randy Savage.  She says that he lost himself for awhile, especially when he chose to go back to Miss Elizabeth.  He says that Elizabeth blinded him to what he needed to focus on.  Martel says she is going to lead him to becoming the new WCW World Heavyweight Champion.  Piper says that Savage is the next man to face Hulk Hogan for the title but he doesn't know if the Macho Man has what it takes to take things to the next level.  Martel says that he does now because he has her in his corner.  She will lead him to where he needs to go.  Before she can continue, they get joined in the ring.

WdZYhlb.gif

Hulk Hogan walks out from the back and steps inside the ring.  Hogan takes a microphone and says he knew that someone wicked was getting in the ear of the Macho Man.  He says he never expected that it would be someone so nasty, though, brother.  He says that Randy Savage has been under the influence of her before but he broke free of it and that's exactly what's going to happen again.  He says that Savage is a good man and he knows it.  Sherri Martel walks up to Hogan and slaps him across the face!  Hogan looks shocked!  Martel goes for another slap but Hogan blocks it, grabbing her wrist.  With one of Hogan's hands occupied, Savage steps in and attacks the WCW World Heavyweight Champion!  Savage knocks Hogan down and stomps on him as Roddy Piper gets out of the way.  Savage and Martel stomp on Hogan.  They raise each other's arms as they stand over him.  The show comes to an end with Randy Savage and Sherri Martel standing over Hulk Hogan.  Mike Tenay says that we will see everyone next week for WCW Monday Nitro!

Who's The Best Big Man?
WCW Saturday Night takes place at the Dees Event Center at Weber State University.  The fans are on their feet as the WCW United States Champion The Giant walks out from the back with The Taskmaster.  The Giant's face and chest have bandages on them stemming from what happened last week where he was hit with the steam.  The Giant and The Taskmaster enter the ring and The Giant takes the microphone.  The Giant roars how upset he is about being attacked last week by Big Van Vader's mastadon helmet.  The Giant dares Big Van Vader to come out and face him in this ring right now.  He tells The Taskmaster to leave so that it's simply one versus one.  Before The Taskmaster can leave, though, Big Van Vader shows up on the big screen.  Vader tells The Taskmaster that leaving won't be necessary.  Vader says that no one tells him what to do.  He says that he does what he wants to do and last week was only the beginning.  Vader says that he will fight The Giant on his own terms and that the United States title will look good around his waist.  The Giant calls Vader a coward but Vader just laughs at him before the video screen turns off.  The Giant and The Taskmaster are left in the ring alone.  But that's only for a moment as someone else comes out.

oxfmGX7.gif

The crowd pops for Jake 'The Snake' Roberts as he walks out from the back carrying the snake bag over his shoulder.  The Giant looks confused for a moment but then looks ready for a fight.  The Taskmaster stares down at Roberts for the moment when Roberts reaches ringside.  Roberts takes the bag off his shoulders and pulls out a cobra, throwing it in the ring.  The Giant's eyes go wide and he backs off from the snake.  He escapes the ring quickly, dropping down to ringside as Jake Roberts enters the ring.  The Taskmaster exits the ring and joins The Giant at ringside.  Roberts picks up the snake and puts it over his shoulders.  Roberts makes the belt motion at his waist as he stares at The Giant.  The Giant quickly moves around ringside and backs up the aisle with The Taskmaster at his heels.  Roberts celebrates with the snake before exiting the ring and heading to the back.

Match #1
The Triple Threat vs. Cobra and The Armstrong Boys

Our first match of the night is a showcasse match of a brand new group here in WCW.  That group is known as The Triple Threat, which consists of Shane Douglas and the tag team of John Kronus and Perry Saturn, known as The Eliminators.  The Triple Threat dominate nearly the entire match over Cobra and Steve and Scott Armstrong.  The match cools the crowd a little after the opening segment, though, as none of these wrestlers are quite as over yet.  But the finish shows why they should be growing.  Shane Douglas hits Scott Armstrong with the belly-to-belly suplex, knocking him out of the ring.  Steve Armstrong is knocked off the apron, leaving Cobra by himself in the ring with The Eliminators.  Perry Saturn and John Kronus hit the Total Elimination on Cobra.  The announcers are wowed by that move as Saturn makes the cover on Cobra: One...Two...Three!  The Triple Threat win the match at 4:47!

Mystery Partner Revealed
We go from there to the interview stage where Gene Okerlund is standing by.  Mean Gene reminds everyone to call the WCW Hotline for the latest in WCW Saturday Night news and rumors.  He reminds everyone that, tonight, we have an eight man tag team match as The Horsemen team up with a mystery partner against Sting, Ricky Steamboat and the WCW World Tag Team Champions Lex Luger and Barry Windham.  Speaking of that match, his guest at this time is the leader of The Horsemen, Ric Flair.  Flair comes out dressed to the nines as always.  Flair joins Okerlund at the interview stage and asks Mean Gene what's causing all this?  It's the best group in professional wrestling history and that's The Horsemen.  Flair says that he knows that Okerlund is looking for a scoop tonight and he's going to give it to him.  Flair introduces the man who is going to be teaming with The Horsemen tonight.  He is a former member of The Horsemen himself.  That man is Tully Blanchard!

The crowd boos as Tully Blanchard walks out.  Blanchard shakes hands with Ric Flair and then is given the microphone.  Blanchard says it is good to arrive back here on the best show in WCW and that's WCW Saturday Night.  Blanchard says that when he was called by The Horsemen to show up tonight and team up with them, he couldn't say no.  Flair smiles and says that this will be a dress rehearsal tonight for giving Tully Blanchard the opportunity to rejoin The Horsemen.  Blanchard definitely seems happy about that and gives a hug to Flair.  Okerlund says that this will make for a great match tonight.  Speaking of great matches, he sends us to the ring for our next match.

Match #2
The Studd Stable (w/Col. Robert Parker) vs. The Rock 'N' Roll Express

It's a tag team contest as the team of Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater with Col. Robert Parker at ringside team up to take on The Rock 'N' Roll Express.  The match is a decent tag team encounter with The Rock 'N' Roll Express starting hot, but Ricky Morton getting caught in the corner of The Studd Stable.  The brawlers took advantage of this moment and used quick tags and the expertise of Col. Robert Parker.  They brought the match out of the ring, where Bunkhouse Buck sent Morton into the ring post.  The match returned inside the ring where Dirty Dick Slater was taken down by a dropkick by Morton.  Morton crawled to the corner and made the hot tag to Robert Gibson!  Gibson comes in like a house on fire, attacking both Slater and Buck!  Buck is the legal man in this moment.  All four men begin to fight and Col. Robert Parker climbs up on the apron.  Gibson runs Buck into Parker, knocking their heads together.  This knocks Parker off the apron and Gibson rolls up Buck: One...Two...Three!  The Rock 'N' Roll Express win at 10:30!

The Franchise?
We go back to the interview area and Gene Okerlund!  Mean Gene, once again, reminds everyone to call the WCW Hotline.  He promises to have the latest news for WCW Saturday Night and even some rumors about the Starrcade show coming up at the end of the year.  Okerlund brings out his guest at this time and that is the number one pick for WCW Saturday Night, Sting!  Sting comes out to a loud crowd ovation.  He high fives a few fans on his way to the interview set.  Okerlund says that Shawn Michaels has accepted the challenge and it will be Sting versus Shawn Michaels in a dream match at World War 3.  Okerlund asks Sting about this.  Sting says that Okerlund said it all.  He says that this a dream match for so many people.  He says that this is about showing what WCW is all about.  He says that this is about showing what WCW Saturday Night is all about.  He says that he is going to send Shawn Michaels to a television show with a loss on his record.  But he has to get through tonight first.  He mentions tonight's eight man tag team match, welcoming the return of Tully Blanchard.  Before he can finish the interview, though, he is interrupted.

It's the arrival of Shane Douglas.  The man known as The Franchise walks out and joins Sting at the interview area.  Douglas gets on the microphone and says that Sting needs to shut his mouth because nobody cares what he has to say.  He says that Sting was never the franchise when it came to work on the microphone.  He has all the charisma in the world but none of the microphone skills, unlike The Franchise.  Douglas says that Sting has been a big star in the ring, though, and he wants to face him next week right here on WCW Saturday Night.  Sting says that all Douglas had to do was ask.  Sting agrees to the match next week and Douglas reminds Sting that the odds will be in his favor because of The Eliminators.  Sting says he's used to losing the odds but never the matches.  Sting says that Douglas might be used to being extreme but next week he's going to be in the jungle.  Sting releases a howl and Douglas just smirks before walking off and Okerlund sends us to the ring.

Match #3
Semifinals Of Number One Contender Tag Team Tournament
The Funks vs. Steiner Brothers

Our first hour main event features two brother tag teams as The Funks step in the ring with Steiner Brothers.  The winners of this match will go on to World War 3 to face the Road Warriors for the right to fight for the WCW World Tag Team titles at Starrcade.  The match is a wild brawl to kick things off with all four men doing battle in the ring and then outside the ring.  By virtue of being the two left in the ring, Rick Steiner and Dory Funk, Jr. start the match.  Dory catches Rick with the Russian legsweep and scores a two count.  Dory tags in his brother and they bring Rick over with a double vertical suplex.  After several more minutes of action, Terry brings Rick into position and then heads to the top turnbuckle.  He goes for a moonsault but Rick moves out of the way and Terry lands hard.  Both men work their way to their feet and Rick takes down Terry with a Steinerline!  Rick crawls to the corner and tags in his brother Scott!  Dory is tagged in as well.

Scott Steiner rushes in with Steinerlines for both Dory and Terry Funk!  Scott grabs Terry and throws him overhead with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex!  Scott kicks Dory in the gut and catches him with a double underhook suplex.  Rick comes in the ring and begins fighting with Terry Funk.  Scott grabs Dory Funk, Jr. and drops him with the Steiner Screwdriver!  He makes the cover: One...Two...Broken up by Terry Funk!  The crowd is shocked and so is Scott Steiner!  Scott picks up Dory and Dory rolls him into a small package: One...Two...Kickout!  Scott pulls himself up as the match continues.  The contest goes back and forth between the two teams until we are left, once again, with Scott Steiner and Dory Funk, Jr. in the ring.  Scott hits Dory with a Steinerline and then twirls his finger in the air.  Scott sends Dory to the ropes -- Frankensteiner!  Scott makes the cover as Rick enters the ring.  Rick takes down Terry with a Steinerline as the referee counts: One...Two...Three!  Steiner Brothers are headed to World War 3 with a victory at 14:23!

WCW World Tag Team Champions
To end the first hour, we go to a video featuring the WCW World Tag Team Champions Lex Luger and Barry Windham.  Luger talks about the fact that they will be facing either the Road Warriors or the Steiner Brothers at Starrcade.  He says that they can beat either team but it won't be easy.  Luger says that they will be able to defend their belts against the best team in WCW, whether that comes from WCW Saturday Night or WCW Monday Nitro.  Barry Windham speaks up, reminding Luger that they first have to step foot in the 40 man battle royal at World War 3.  He says he is going to bring a Texas twister that sends all 39 other wrestlers out of the ring and leaves him as the only man left and the man who will face Hulk Hogan at Starrcade.  Luger says that, no matter what, it will come down to the two of them and may the best man win.  The two of them shake hands and we go to the ringside area to start the second hour.

Cactus Jack Returns
At the ringside area, the fans here at Weber State are on their feet for the next music that plays.  Cactus Jack walks out from the back, giving the 'Bang bang' finger guns.  He makes his way down to the ring and steps inside.  Jack listens to a mixed reaction from the crowd here.  Jack asks for a microphone and Jack begins by saying that it feels good to be back here on WCW Saturday Night.  He says that he has had some amazing moments on Saturday Night, including getting power bombed by Big Van Vader and becoming a pirate.  Jack says that he is going to take WCW Saturday Night to the extreme and he's planning to hurt a lot of people.  Jack says that's the nature of his business and business is going to be good.  Jack smiles that toothless grin and makes the 'bang bang' motion before he gets interrupted.

Terry Funk and Dory Funk, Jr. come out to boos from the crowd.  The two brothers enter the ring and Terry gets on the microphone.  Terry says that he has a bit of a history with Cactus Jack.  He says that if Cactus is planning on people getting hurt then he needs to get in the ring with The Funk Brothers.  Terry challenges Cactus Jack to face him one on one next week right here on WCW Saturday Night.  Cactus Jack immediately accepts the challenge but asks why they should wait until next week.  Jack immediately attacks The Funk Brothers!  The numbers game, though, is on the side of The Funks and it shows as they get the advantage over Jack.  Terry manages to hit Jack with the Texas Piledriver in the center of the ring.  The Funks stand side by side before exiting the ring.  As they get halfway up the ramp, Jack smiles and pulls himself halfway up.  He looks toward The Funks and gives the 'bang bang' motion, laughing.  Jack slides out of the ring and high fives a few fans as we go backstage.

Who Will It Be?
We go backstage to the Dungeon Of Doom locker room.  Inside that locker room are The Taskmaster, The Giant, Kamala, Meng, The Shark and Zodiac.  The Taskmaster says that they have a match tonight against Tito Santana.  He asks which of them wants to step up and prove themselves.  After a moment, Zodiac speaks up, saying YES, NO, YES, NO, YES, YES, YES!  The Taskmaster smiles and says it will be Zodiac stepping up.  He tells Zodiac that he better win and prove that evil wins and good is stupid.  The Taskmaster steps beside Zodiac and the two get ready to head to the ring because the match is next.

Match #4
Zodiac (w/The Taskmaster) vs. Tito Santana

Our penultimate match features two veterans of the sport as Zodiac steps in the ring with Tito Santana.  The two men rush each other to start the match and Santana brings down Zodiac with an arm drag.  Santana plays to the crowd for a moment before taking down Zodiac with a dropkick.  The match has a few back and forth moments in it with both men showing that they have what it takes here on WCW Saturday Night.  Zodiac scores a near fall with a full nelson slam.  Santana comes back with a headscissors takedown.  The Taskmaster watches from ringside until he decides to get involved.  He slides a chair in the ring toward Santana and climbs on the apron, getting the referee distracted.  Santana picks up the chair and looks like he might use it.  But he throws it out of the ring!  Zodiac catches Santana with a running knee lift, knocking Santana down.  The Taskmaster gets off the apron but Zodiac doesn't go for a cover.  Instead, he slides out of the ring, yelling 'YES, NO, YES, NO!'  He stomps around and then stomps toward the back.  The Taskmaster rushes after him, yelling at him to re-enter the ring.  Referee Randy Anderson counts him out.  Tito Santana gets the win at 13:30!

The Heat Is On
We go to the interview stage and Gene Okerlund one more time.  Once more, Okerlund reminds everyone to call the WCW Hotline!  Make sure you get your parent's permission before dialing.  Okerlund says that tonight has had some tag team brothers and he decided to bring one more out for the night.  He introduces his guests at this time and they are Booker T and Stevie Ray, Harlem Heat.  Okerlund asks them what their plans are here on WCW Saturday Night.  Booker says that they may have had a few setbacks but they are planning on proving themselves to be the best tag team here on WCW Saturday Night.  It doesn't matter whether it's The Rock 'N' Roll Express, Steiner Brothers, Studd Stable, Funks or any other tag team.  He promises to get them out of the way and have Harlem Heat return to the top.  Stevie Ray tells all the suckas out there to watch out because the heat is being turned up here on WCW Saturday Night.  Booker issues a challenge for any WCW tag team to face them next week right here on WCW Saturday Night.  Okerlund says we'll see if any team accepts the challenge.  But, now, we must go to the ring for our main event.

Match #5
The Horsemen and Tully Blanchard vs. Sting, Ricky Steamboat, Lex Luger and Barry Windham

It's main event time!  It's an eight man tag team match as Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Brian Pillman and Tully Blanchard take on Sting, Ricky Steamboat and the WCW World Tag Team Champions Lex Luger and Barry Windham.  Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard show that they don't have any ring rust on their teaming together early in the bout.  They use frequent tags and double teams on Barry Windham, keeping him in their corner.  Windham fights back, though, and manages to tag in Sting.  Sting comes in with punches, firing up the crowd.  Sting gets Blanchard into the corner and climbs up, throwing punches.  He lands all ten before dropping down and tagging in Ricky Steamboat.  The Dragon takes down Blanchard with two straight arm drags before Blanchard tags in Flair.  Flair comes in and manages to get the advantage on Steamboat.  Flair knocks Steamboat back into a corner and lays in chops.  He tags in Brian Pillman and Pillman heads to the top turnbuckle, hitting a cross body block off the top on Steamboat.  Pillman makes the cover: One...Two...Broken Up By Lex Luger!

The match continues forward with both teams having the advantage at times before Lex Luger gets caught in the corner of The Horsemen and Tully Blanchard.  Luger plays the face-in-peril in that corner.  Luger begins to fight back and a double clothesline is hit by Luger and Blanchard.  Both men begin crawling toward their corners.  Luger leaps and tags in Ricky Steamboat!  Blanchard tags in Brian Pillman!  Pillman and Steamboat battle with chops in the center of the ring.  All eight men climb into the ring and it's a brawl between the two teams.  The action spills out of the ring and battle goes on inside the ring.  Steamboat gets the advantage and heads to the top turnbuckle.  He leaps with the Diving Cross Body but Pillman hits him with a dropkick instead!  The referee tries to restore order as Brian Pillman slides out of the ring and grabs a chair.  He slides in and strikes Steamboat in the head with the chair!  He slides the chair out and grabs the referee before making the cover: One...Two...Three!  The Horsemen and Tully Blanchard win at 21:01!
