Alright, so do you have a plan on paper on who's going where or is it all in your head?

I have a plan for a lot of them.  For some, it's going to be quite random.  So, for everyone predicting the first pick, don't forget that Hulk Hogan, Lex Luger and Barry Windham are not eligible to be drafted.  The World Heavyweight Champion and World Tag Team Champions will be on both brands for now.

Until you create brand exclusive belts to fill in the gap. maybe you could revive the us tag gold or the national titles from jcp?

Update: Thank you to everyone who has made predictions so far.  I thought I would throw in an update on what's going on in my life. On Sunday February 18, 2024 and Tuesday February 20, 2024, I went to the emergency room due to a kidney stone.  On Tuesday February 27, 2024, I went in for surgery.  I had to have lithotripsy done with them lasering out a kidney stone and then placing a stent in my ureter.  Since then, I have been under painkillers and a heating pad every single day.  I have surgery one week from today to have the stent removed.

Needless to say, I haven't been one hundred percent focused when it comes to diary writing.  I did manage to get a show done for my USPW diary in this time but that is significantly less than writing up a major pay-per-view event.  I just don't want to disappoint so many readers, but I can promise that I am working on both diaries.  I will have the shows up when I can, but I cannot promise any specific time frame.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

While there's some time, I wanted to throw in a little game here if anyone wants to play.  I wanted to know about any dream matches anyone has from this era of time, either with the wrestlers you've seen on my roster or wrestlers from around the world.  Feel free to throw some in and, maybe, one day you'll see them in this diary.

Hoping for a full recovery from you, angel. Sounds like it was a rough week.

Give me Brian Pillman vs. anyone he missed out on having a major program with in the Attitude Era. Shawn Michaels, height of his powers Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH, Kurt Angle, my old all time fave Jeff Hardy...

With a brand split happening in WCW (albeit along different lines from IRL), here's what I was thinking of for brand-specific belts (like in WWE IRL):

  • Saturday Night - since that show is a descendant of the original Georgia Championship Wrestling show, bring back the old National Heavyweight and National Tag Team titles from Georgia and put them there
  • Nitro - put the US Heavyweight title there and revive the US Tag Team title to join it

Top Picks
WCW Halloween Havoc kicks off here in the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina.  The show is sold out and the fans are on their feet as pyro explodes.  To the sounds of their respective show's entrance themes, Tony Schiavone and Eric Bischoff both walk out to podiums at the top of the ramp.  Schiavone begins by welcoming everyone to Halloween Havoc.  He talks about how history will be made in and out of the ring tonight.  Bischoff agrees, saying that tonight marks the beginning of a new era for WCW.  He reminds everyone that Tony and himself are here to announce the first round draft selections for the WCW brand split between Saturday Night and Monday Nitro.  Schiavone speaks up, saying that Saturday Night has the first selection and that he put a lot of thought and effort into this first selection.  He decided to choose a man whose name is synonymous with WCW.  This man is a former WCW World Heavyweight Champion and former WCW United States Champion.  This man is a legend, an icon and a cornerstone of this promotion.  Ladies and gentlemen, this is Sting!  Schiavone smiles widely at his selection and we are taken to a video hyping Sting.  Following the video, the attention turns to Eric Bischoff.  Bischoff says that was not bad for a first pick.  But now it's time for Monday Nitro to make it's mark.  He says that he made the decision to look to the past, present and future to make the first selection for Nitro.  With that in mind, his selection are two of the biggest names in professional wrestling.

Those two names are Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels!  As soon as they are announced, they both walk out from the back and join Eric Bischoff at the podium.  Piper walks over to Tony Schiavone, smiles and adjusts his tie before walking over to join Bischoff and Michaels.  Michaels smiles and says that tonight is just the beginning of their dominance on Monday Nitro.  He says that the main event and the icon are here.  Piper says that they are the top dogs in the yard and they will prove it in just a few moments.  Michaels reminds everyone that beginning tomorrow night Monday Nitro will be must-see tv.  Michaels and Piper walk off, heading to the ring for our opening bout.

Match #1
Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels vs. Sting and Warrior

Our first match here at Halloween Havoc 1995 features Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels against Sting and Warrior.  All four men are icons of the sport but the announcers talk about the fact that Sting is wrestling with chronic migraines.  The match kicks off with Warrior and Michaels in the ring.  They exchange some quick strikes, including Warrior clotheslining Michaels over the top rope.  Michaels skins the cat, pulling himself back in over the top rope before charging at Warrior and throwing him through the ropes.  Michaels poses in the ring before Warrior joins him again.  As the match moves forward, Michaels and Piper show off their undeniable chemistry in the ring together.  They isolate Warrior in their corner and keep him in the ring, leaving Sting waiting on the apron for a big tag.  Michaels hits Warrior with a flying elbow drop and makes the cover: One...Two...Kickout!  The crowd gets solidly behind Warrior and he gets fired up, shaking the ropes and turning on that trademark intensity.  Warrior manages to get control and tag in Sting.  Sting comes in with clotheslines for both Piper and Michaels.  Sting lifts Piper and slams him with a press slam!  Sting goes after Michaels and sends him in the corner, climbing up and raining ten punches down on him.  He sends Michaels to the opposite side and then hesitates, grabbing his head for a moment and shaking it.  Warrior and Piper do battle outside the ring as Sting recovers and then rushes in for a Stinger Splash.  Sting leaps but Michaels moves and Sting hits the ring post!  Michaels rolls up Sting, placing his feet on the ropes for leverage: One...Two...Three!  Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper get the win at 15:37!

Rounds 2 And 3
We go from there to the backstage area where Dusty Rhodes is standing by.  He talks about how the stakes are high tonight and he is ready to make the second round pick for WCW Saturday Night.  He says that he has a long history with this group but knows they will make Saturday Night even better.  He introduces to this backstage area, the Horsemen unit of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman!  Rhodes asks Flair about his match tonight with Randy Savage, saying he has a chance to go to the pay winda tonight.  Flair says that Dusty Rhodes knows about him being the man.  He says that tonight is just another chance to prove that.  Flair says that he's going to go through Randy Savage and head to World War 3 and beat Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight title.  Flair asks Miss Elizabeth if she wants to be with a real man tonight.  He releases a Whoo and then we go to another backstage area.  This other backstage area has Bobby Heenan standing by.  The Brain says that Monday Nitro is about to make a pick that will send shockwaves through the industry.  He says that their selection is the other man in the main event tonight, Macho Man Randy Savage along with Miss Elizabeth.  Savage and Elizabeth step up to Heenan.  Heenan looks at Savage and tells him that he has one job tonight and that is to beat Ric Flair and bring the main event match to Monday Nitro.  Heenan tells Savage that if he doesn't win that match, then that makes him like these humanoids in the crowd, a loser.  He tells Savage not to disappoint Monday Nitro tonight.  Savage looks like he might hit Heenan but Elizabeth calms him down and the two walk out.

We go back to Dusty Rhodes and he says it's time for round 3 of the draft.  He says that for the next pick of the draft that Saturday Night selects the WCW United States Champion The Giant!  A video begins to play showcasing highlights of The Giant here in WCW.  It shows The Giant defeating Sting for the WCW United States title and a voiceover talks about him defending that title later on tonight against Jim Duggan.  From there, we go to Bobby Heenan once again.  The Brain says that WCW Saturday Night might have added the WCW United States Champion but that WCW Monday Nitro is adding a powerhouse to their roster.  Heenan says that they have added the WCW World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page, along with the Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle.  The three of them walk up and DDP shakes hands with Heenan before taking the microphone.  DDP says you're looking at the best damn wrestler in WCW today.  He says that with the power of the Diamond Cutter behind him, there's nobody on Monday Nitro or any other night that can stop him.  He says that Nitro is going to shine like a diamond because everyone there is going to feel the bang!  DDP makes the diamond symbol.  Doll and Muscle stand to either side of him and Heenan sends us to the ring.

Match #2
The Funks vs. American Males

Our second match of the night is the return of The Funks, Terry Funk and Dory Funk, Jr.  Across the ring from them stand the American Males, Marcus Bagwell and Scotty Riggs.  This is definitely a generational battle as the two veteran brothers take on the young upstarts.  As the match progresses, it is obvious that the veteran experience of the Funks takes things over.  In the closing moments of the match, Dory Funk, Jr. locks Scotty Riggs in the patented Spinning Toe Hold.  With nowhere to escape, Riggs is forced to submit.  The Funks win the match at 10:26!

Rounds 4 and 5
It's backstage time once again.  This time, we see Gene Okerlund representing WCW Saturday Night.  Okerlund says that he is here to make WCW Saturday Night the best show that it can be.  He says that, with that in mind, he is going to make the next selection for WCW Saturday Night.  He says that they have selected the powerhouse duo of The Steiner Brothers!  The Steiner Brothers step in to stand beside Okerlund.  Okerlund asks The Steiners about their match tonight with The Road Warriors.  Rick says that they are ready to tear the roof off this place.  He says the Road Warriors may be tough but they are tougher.  Scott says that they are from Michigan and that's all you need to know about their toughness.  Rick barks a few times and we elsewhere backstage where Steve McMichael is standing by.  Mongo says to the Nitro fans that's time to choose another pick for WCW Monday Nitro.  He says that their selection is the one warrior nation himself, Warrior!  McMichael sends us to a video highlighting the time that Warrior has spent here.

Following that video, we are taken back to Gene Okerlund.  Mean Gene says it's time for round five of the draft.  He says that WCW Saturday Night is selecting the legendary tag team of The Rock 'N' Roll Express!  Okerlund sends us to a video highlighting the Rock 'N' Roll Express and their tenure here in WCW.  Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson are shown in the video winning the NWA World Tag Team titles from The Russians.  From there, we go back to Steve McMichael.  Mongo says that WCW Monday Nitro is getting a legendary tag team themselves.  This tag team features two tough guys from Chicago and their just as badass manager.  Here are the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering.  Ellering talks up the Road Warriors as the toughest tag team in WCW history.  He talks about how smart they are now that they are led by the smartest man in the business.  Hawk tells them that they snack on danger and dine on death.  Animal says that they are the baddest tag team in the business and that the Steiner Brothers are going to go down.  With that, McMichael sends us to the ring.

Match #3
WCW United States Title Match
The Giant (w/The Taskmaster) defends vs. Jim Duggan

The third match of the night is the match for the WCW United States Championship as The Giant, along with The Taskmaster, takes on the veteran Jim Duggan.  The Giant has been selected by WCW Saturday Night and Jim Duggan has yet to be selected in the draft.  The hard-hitting match starts with Duggan going right after The Giant with hard clubbing blows.  The Taskmaster tries to distract Duggan and Duggan exits the ring, grabbing his 2X4.  He chases The Taskmaster around the ringside area before catching him and hitting him in the gut and then the back with the 2X4.  The Giant reaches outside the ring and pulls Duggan in, showcasing his awesome power.  Even with The Taskmaster down and out, The Giant is mostly dominant in this contest.  The Giant hits Duggan with big body slams and some back elbow smashes in the corner.  The Giant finally finishes this match when he grabs Duggan by the throat, lifts him up and brings him down hard with the Choke Slam!  The Giant makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  The Giant successfully defends the WCW United States title at 8:08!

Rounds 6 and 7
It's time for that backstage area and round six of the brand split draft!  Tony Schiavone is back there and talks about the history of WCW Saturday Night.  He talks about how Saturday Night has been the main show on TBS since it started.  Schiavone makes the announcement that the next draft pick for Saturday Night has a huge and long history with WCW.  He is a man who recently made his return to WCW and that man is Ricky The Dragon Steamboat.  Schiavone sends us to a video package with a history of Steamboat in WCW, including his big wins over wrestlers like Ric Flair, Steve Austin, Greg Valentine, Harley Race and more.  With that being done, we are taken to Eric Bischoff, who says that WCW Saturday Night is the past.  He says that WCW Monday Nitro is the present and the future of WCW.  With an eye toward the present, he announces that Monday Nitro is selecting the group known as the Varsity Club!  Mike Rotunda, Steve Williams and Terry Gordy move in to stand beside Bischoff.  Bischoff asks them about their match with The Horsemen tonight.  Rotunda says he can speak for these two men when he says that they are looking forward to getting revenge after what happened this past Monday night on Nitro.  Rotunda reminds them that the Varsity Club is the best group of wrestlers in this business and they will prove it tonight.

Back to Tony Schiavone, who says that Bischoff made an interesting pick but he thinks that The Horsemen will be ones standing tall tonight in that tag team bout.  Schiavone says that he believes that this next draft pick for WCW Saturday Night will definitely put butts in the seats when it comes to WCW Saturday Night.  This man is a man who needs no introduction.  He is a man who will put his body on the line each and every night for the enjoyment of the fans.  This is the WCW return of the hardcore icon known as Cactus Jack!  Schiavone sends us to a video of highlights of Cactus Jack's career here in WCW.  His legendary battles with Vader are shown, in particular.  Following that video, we go to Eric Bischoff.  Bischoff smirks and says that someone like Jack will never put butts in the seats.  But the WCW Monday Nitro selection will definitely do just that.  He says that they are adding real star power to their roster.  He announces the addition of 'Superstar' Steve Austin to the Monday Nitro roster!  Bischoff reminds the fans about what Austin has been doing lately.  We are taken to a video package of Austin, focusing on his return, including his attack on Psicosis and Scott Armstrong.

We go to a third area backstage where Mark Madden is standing by with the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan.  Madden says that it is an honor to be here with the World Champion.  Madden asks Hogan about the match tonight in our main event.  He asks Hogan who he would rather face: Randy Savage or Ric Flair?  Before Hogan can answer, though, Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper walk onto the scene!  Michaels raises a hand and tells Hogan to 'Hold up, brother.'  He says that Hogan better worry less about Savage and Flair and worry more about him and the Hot Rod.  Michaels announces that the main event for Monday Nitro has been booked.  It will be Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper against Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage!  Michaels reminds Hogan that he is always the main event.  Michaels steps to Hogan and slaps him.  Hogan's jaw clenches and his fists clench.  Roddy Piper steps in between Michaels and Hogan, smiling.  Madden calls for help and security steps in, keeping the wrestlers separated but they won't be separated tomorrow night on Nitro!

Our fourth match of the night features The Horsemen taking on the Varsity Club.  Eric Bischoff reminds the fans that The Horsemen have been drafted by WCW Saturday Night and The Varsity Club have been drafted by Monday Nitro.  The action itself is pretty hard-hitting.  The bout has great heat and good wrestling.  Pillman speeds things up when he's in the ring, showcasing his talent, including hitting a somersault senton off the top turnbuckle on Dr. Death!  Rotunda works to get his tag team back into things and they use their size advantage on both Anderson and Pillman.  As the match reaches the climax, all four men do battle inside the ring.  Pillman hits Terry Gordy with a flying cross body sending both of them out of the ring.  Steve Williams grabs Arn Anderson and hits the Oklahoma Stampede!  Williams makes the cover, hooking the leg: One...Two...Three!  Miracle Violence Connection pick up the win at 20:07!

Match #5
Road Warriors (w/Paul Ellering) vs. Steiner Brothers

Our fifth match of the night is a match where two teams are looking to settle things as to who is the top tag team.  On one side, we have the badass Chicago tag team Road Warriors along with their manager Paul Ellering.  On the other side, we have the University of Michigan alums The Steiner Brothers.  As the bell rings on this match, all four men do battle in the ring with Scott battling Animal and Rick battling Hawk.  Hawk uses some speed and takes down Rick with a leaping shoulderblock.  Scott shows his technical skill by throwing Animal overhead with a belly-to-belly suplex!  Scott sends Animal over the top rope with a Steinerline, leaving Hawk in the ring with both Steiner Brothers.  Rick grabs Hawk from behind and Scott hits a Steinerline, sending Hawk over with a German suplex, no bridge, all impact!  Hawk rolls out to recover with Animal and Paul Ellering.  Rick runs around the ring barking before dropping on all fours.  Scott stands over him in the Steiner pose.  The Road Warriors, though, quickly regroup and regain the advantage following a little distraction by Paul Ellering.  Rick Steiner is isolated in the corner of the Road Warriors.  Animal and Hawk use frequent tags to keep the fresh man in the ring.  Hawk goes for a flying cross body but Rick manages to duck down and both men are down.  Rick crawls toward the corner and manages to tag in his brother.  Animal tags in Hawk.  Scott comes in like a house on fire.  He hits both Animal and Hawk with Steinerlines!  He hits the Steiner Flatliner on Hawk!  Rick manages to come in and takes down Animal, knocking him out of the ring.  Scott grabs Hawk and lifts him up on his shoulders in an electric chair position as Rick heads to the top turnbuckle.  Rick leaps and the Steiner Brothers hit the Steiner Bulldog!  Scott makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  The Steiner Brothers have picked up a huge win at 21:54!

Round 9
It's time for round nine of the ten round brand split draft.  Gene Okerlund is backstage and talks about WCW Saturday Night, hyping the show up and reminding everyone to tune in this Saturday on TBS, the SuperStation!  He says they won't want to miss the next selection for WCW Saturday Night.  That selection is the tag team known as Harlem Heat, Booker T and Stevie Ray!  A highlight video is shown of Harlem Heat, showcasing them as two time WCW World Tag Team Champions.  They won the titles from Stars and Stripes and the Nasty Boys.  They've also beaten tag teams like the Blue Bloods and The Stud Stable.  From there, we go to Steve McMichael in that second area backstage.  Mongo says that Monday Nitro is all about the future and that is why they made this next draft pick.  This next draft pick is all about the future of tag team wrestling.  While this team hasn't won any titles yet, they are just getting started.  The brand new tag team here on WCW Monday Nitro is the team of Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy, the Hardy Boys.  This is along with their new manager Teddy Long.  Some highlights of the Hardy Boys wrestling at house shows and in pre-show matches are shown.

Match #6
WCW World Tag Team Titles Match
Lex Luger and Barry Windham defend vs. The Powers of Pain

Our penultimate match is a match that was just recently made as Lex Luger and Barry Windham defend the WCW World Tag Team titles against The Powers of Pain.  Luger and Windham have been having a few issues lately, stemming from when Ric Flair invited Barry Windham to go out partying with him.  But they need to be on the same page as The Powers of Pain are definitely on the same page, showcasing a tag team chemistry in the ring.  The Warlord and The Barbarian isolate Lex Luger during the bout, keeping him in their corner and wearing down the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.  Luger tries to break free a few times and one time he makes it to the corner but the referee is with The Barbarian and doesn't see the tag!  This leaves Luger in the ring and a double headbutt scores a two count.  The momentum swings when The Barbarian and The Warlord go for a double vertical suplex that gets blocked by the strength of The Total Package!  Luger throws some haymakers and a double clothesline and then manages to get to the corner and tag in Barry Windham!  Windham comes in like a house on fire, throwing punches to both The Barbarian and The Warlord!  He helps Luger up and they go right at The Powers of Pain!  Windham takes down The Barbarian with a vertical suplex and then a swinging neckbreaker.  Luger takes down The Warlord with a scoop powerslam!  Windham waits on The Barbarian to get up and smashes into him with the Flying Lariat!  Windham makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Lex Luger and Barry Windham successfully defend the WCW World Tag Team titles at 16:11!

Round 10
It's time for the final round of the brand split draft.  We go backstage where Tony Schiavone is standing by.  Schiavone discusses that this is the final pick and reminds us that any wrestlers not selected tonight will be automatically assigned a brand at random.  Schiavone says that WCW Saturday Night decided to use this last pick on a veteran tag team.  These men may not be the best technical wrestlers but they can get it done in a fight.  In round ten, WCW Saturday Night selects the Nasty Boys, Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags!  A video showcasing highlights of the Nasty Boys is shown.  Some of their wild antics and best matches are shown in this video.  From there, we go to Eric Bischoff, who is standing by to make the final pick for WCW Monday Nitro.  He says that the final pick is another pick that is made to look toward the future of the wrestling industry and specifically the future of the tag team division.  He says that he is proud to bring two rising stars with unlimited potential to WCW Monday Nitro in Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle!  A short highlight video of Cage and Hardcastle here in WCW is shown.  They are shown wrestling the American Males twice on Nitro, including a victory.

Match #7
#1 Contender's Match
Ric Flair (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Randy Savage (w/Miss Elizabeth)

It is time for the main event contest of the night as Ric Flair, accompanied to the ring by The Enforcer Arn Anderson, takes on Randy Savage, accompanied by the lovely Miss Elizabeth.  This match features WCW Saturday Night in Flair against WCW Monday Nitro in Savage.  Only one man can become the new number one contender and face Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight title at World War 3.  As soon as the bell sounds, the two men circle each other and then lock up.  Flair quickly grabs a headlock and Savage backs to the ropes before shooting Flair across.  Flair comes back, ducking his head down and Savage does a leapfrog.  Flair stops himself behind Savage so that when Savage turns, he laves Savage's chest with a knife-edge chop!  Flair does a strut and releases a 'Whoo' that is echoed back by some of the fans in attendance.  Flair yells out to Elizabeth that he'll give her another shot sometime.  This enrages Savage and causes Flair to roll out of the ring.  Savage chases Flair around the ring until Flair rolls in.  Savage rolls in and Flair immediately attacks him.  Flair brings Savage to the corner and lays into him with three straight chops to the chest.  An enraged Savage fires back with punches.  The match moves forward with Savage in control.  Savage catches Flair with a snap DDT and makes the cover: One...Two...Kickout!

The momentum shifts in the match when Arn Anderson distracts Randy Savage.  With that distraction, Ric Flair hits Savage from behind with a chop block to the knee.  The Nature Boy gets in control and brings Savage over with a snap suplex before focusing on his knee.  Flair holds Savage down and throws some punches before getting to his feet.  He bounces off the ropes and drops a knee across the forehead of Savage.  Flair plays to the crowd for a moment before making a cover: One...Two...Kickout!  As the match moves forward, another momentum shift comes and Savage takes control until he sends Flair into the corner where referee Charles Robinson is.  Savage comes in with a splash and Robinson is crushed in the corner.  Savage limps a little on that hurting knee but manages to bring Flair to the mat in a piledriver!  Savage climbs to the top turnbuckle slowly with no official in sight.  Savage raises his arms up and then leaps -- caught in the arms of Arn Anderson!  Anderson catches Savage and turns him in a spinning spinebuster!  Anderson drags his thumb across his throat and puts Flair on top of Savage, sliding out of the ring.  Referee Nick Patrick comes running out to the ring and slides inside.  The referee drops down and makes the count:

..SHOULDER UP!

The crowd bursts into cheers as Randy Savage gets the shoulder up!  Somehow, he manages to kick out from the pinfall!  Ric Flair rolls to his knees and pulls himself up.  He pulls Savage to his feet and moves him into a corner, laying in a few chops.  He whips Savage across but Savage reverses it and Flair goes flipping over the turnbuckle, landing on the apron.  Flair runs across and climbs the turnbuckle but Savage limps over and grabs Flair.  He body slams Flair off and then grabs his knee in pain.  Miss Elizabeth gives encouragement from ringside.  Savage fires back, drawing praise from the crowd.  He drops down and smashes Flair with several elbow shots to the skull!  He climbs up the turnbuckle, doing his best to focus on his injured knee helping him get to the top.  Once he does, he manages to knock Arn Anderson from the apron.  Savage raises his arms up and leaps, connecting with the Flying Elbow Drop!  Savage makes the cover, hooking the leg:

New Number One Contender
Randy Savage is the new number one contender to the WCW World Heavyweight title!  He will face Hulk Hogan at World War 3!  Miss Elizabeth rushes into the ring to celebrate with Savage but the celebration is short-lived because of the arrival of Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper!  Michaels and Piper go after Savage's knee, knocking Elizabeth back.  Piper holds up Savage and Michaels tunes up the band before hitting him with some Sweet Chin Music!  Savage is knocked back to the mat.  The crowd here in Greensboro boo the WCW Monday Nitro duo of Michaels and Piper.  Before they can continue their assault, someone comes running out from the back.

It's Hulk Hogan!  Hogan slides into the ring and begins exchanging punches with Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper!  Hogan blocks a punch from Michaels and knocks him down with a clothesline!  Piper attacks Hogan from behind.  Randy Savage manages to pull himself up and attacks Piper from behind.  He throws Piper out of the ring and Hogan turns around, raising a fist.  He sees Savage and begins arguing with the Macho Man.  Hogan accuses Savage of hitting him from behind.  Savage says he didn't do it.  Miss Elizabeth steps in once again.  She keeps the two men separated as the announcers remind everyone that tomorrow night on Monday Nitro it will be Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels against Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.  Hogan and Savage stare at each other as the show comes to an end.  Halloween Havoc is over!  We'll see you tomorrow night for WCW Monday Nitro.

Attendance: 8,752
Overall Rating: 84
TV Rating: 2.13

Drafted First
The very first Monday Nitro of the brand split era takes place in the Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, Ohio.  8,752 fans are here in the Gardens as the show begins with the arrival of The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels and Rowdy Roddy Piper!  The crowd boos this arrival as the two number one picks in the draft enter the ring.  Michaels starts on the microphone, proclaiming the top two draft picks in the brand split are in the ring.  Piper says that nobody can deny the talent and charisma that the two of them bring.  He says that the two of them are the cream of the crop.  Piper says that they are going to prove that tonight when Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage step into the pit with Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels.  Michaels says it's fitting that he's in the final match tonight because he is the main event, the showstopper.  Michaels poses before the two of them are interrupted by American Made.

WdZYhlb.gif

Out from the back comes Hulk Hogan, the WCW World Heavyweight Champion!  Hogan gets a mixed response from the crowd as he walks out and joins Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels in the ring.  Hogan looks between the two of them and begins with his 'let me tell you something, brother.'  Hogan claims that the only reason that Piper and Michaels were the top pick is because he wasn't eligible for the draft.  He says that he is the top dog around here, dudes.  He says that he has the belt to prove it.  Michaels speaks up, telling Hulk to 'give it a rest, Hogan.'  Michaels claims that the only thing that Hogan is great at is running his mouth.  Piper says that Hogan's time is past and now Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels are running the show here on Monday Nitro.  Hogan says that they are going to find out who runs the show tonight.  Before Hogan can continue, he gets rocked with Sweet Chin Music by Michaels!  Michaels and Piper pounce on the fallen Hogan, throwing punches and double-teaming the WCW World Heavyweight Champion.  Michaels tells Hogan that he's going to send him back to the 80's where he belongs.  A 'Randy Savage' chant breaks out through the crowd but he's nowhere to be found.  Piper and Michaels turn their attention to the right leg of Hogan.  They ram the leg against the ring post and continue an all-out assault, while the fans chant for Savage to come out but Hogan is left alone.  Finally, security and officials come out to break things up.  The announcers wonder where the Macho Man is.  The Immortal One has to be helped to the back.

Match #1
Terry Richards vs. Warrior

Our first match of the brand-split era is an absolute squash as Terry Richards steps into the ring with Warrior.  Warrior is like a tidal wave of offense throughout this match, downing Richards at every step.  Warrior picks up Richards and press slams him over his head, dropping him backward with the Gorilla Press Slam.  But he's not done!  He picks up Richards and then bounces off the ropes twice before hitting the Flying Shoulderblock!  Richards collapses to the mat and Warrior places his foot on Richards' chest: One...Two...Three!  Warrior picks up the win at 1:04!

Open Challenge
We go to a video promo and this one features the WCW World Television Champion Diamond Dallas Page, along with Diamond Doll and Maxx Muscle.  DDP begins by reminding everyone that he is the ba double d baddest man on Monday Nitro.  He tells the fans that he is the only title holder that is exclusive to Monday Nitro.  He says that makes him the top dog around here no matter what some old man has to say about it.  DDP says he knows there's some young, hungry lions back in the back just waiting to get a shot at his title so he's going to make it easy.  He offers an open challenge for next week on Monday Nitro.  However, he warns the person who accepts the challenge that this person is going to feel the bang!  He tells the person to lace up his boots, tighten his chin strap and prepare to enter the Diamond Cutter danger zone!  DDP makes the diamond sign and the stage is set for a great match next week on Monday Nitro!  With that, we go back to the announcers.

Coming At World War 3
Eric Bischoff, Bobby Heenan and Steve McMichael are shown at the announce table.  Bischoff welcomes everyone back to Monday Nitro and reminds everyone that this is the show with the best roster.  He informs everyone that wrestlers such as Pretty Powerful, Psicosis, Big Bubba Rogers and more have been added to the Monday Nitro roster.  Heenan and McMichael agree that they have the better roster than Saturday Night.  Bischoff goes into some announcements about tonight and World War 3.  He informs the fans that World War 3 and Starrcade will be joint pay-per-views, featuring wrestlers from both Monday Nitro and Saturday Night.  There will also be a 40 man battle royal at World War 3 where the winner goes on to fight for the WCW World Heavyweight title at Starrcade.  It will feature wrestlers from both shows.

Speaking of both shows, Eric Bischoff announces that there will be tag team tournaments on both shows featuring four tag teams from each show.  The winners of those tournaments will fight at World War 3 with the winners going on to fight for the WCW World Tag Team titles at Starrcade.  For the Monday Nitro side, we will have the Road Warriors with Paul Ellering taking on American Males and Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle facing Miracle Violence Connection along with Mike Rotunda at ringside.  The winners of those matches will fight next week.  The winners of that match go to World War 3 to fight the tournament winner of Saturday Night.  With that being said, Bischoff sends us to the ring for our first tournament match.

Match #2
Quarterfinals Of Number One Contender Tag Team Tournament
Road Warriors (w/Paul Ellering) vs. American Males

The first tournament match features the legendary Road Warriors taking on the up and coming American Males.  Animal and Hawk are accompanied by Paul Ellering at ringside.  This is our second one-sided match as the Road Warriors dominate from the beginning.  Marcus Bagwell starts with Animal and Animal immediately overpowers Bagwell, throwing him across the ring.  Animal tags in Hawk and they double team Bagwell, sending him to the ropes and hitting him with a double shoulderblock.  Hawk continues to punish Bagwell, running over and knocking Scotty Riggs off the apron.  Hawk tags in Animal and Animal catches Bagwell with a scoop powerslam.  Animal picks up Bagwell, walking over to his corner and letting Hawk tag himself in.  Hawk heads for the top turnbuckle and catches Bagwell with the Doomsday Device!  Bagwell flips onto the mat.  Paul Ellering smiles at ringside.  Hawk makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Road Warriors advance at 1:43!

Arriving At The Building
The camera cuts backstage to find a black limousine pulling up.  The doors open and out come the Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.  No wonder Savage wasn't there to help Hulk Hogan earlier.  Speaking of Hogan, he limps his way toward Savage, looking upset.  Hogan gets up in Savage's face and asks him where he was, brother.  He says he got jumped by Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels earlier tonight and Savage was nowhere to be found.  Savage explains that he had a flat tire on the way to the arena tonight.  But he's here now and they are going to take care of business.  Hogan looks skeptical but then looks at Miss Elizabeth and his face softens.  He looks back at Savage, who says that if Piper and Michaels want to play dirty, then they've got another thing coming.  Savage says that they're going to show them what happens when you mess with the Macho Man and the Hulkster.  Hogan agrees and says that tonight they're going to make Piper and Michaels pay for what they did to him.  The two men share a nod and we go back to the ring.

Our next match is a six man tag team encounter as The Blue Bloods take on Johnny B. Badd and the Hardy Boys.  The good guys have Teddy Long in their corner.  Jeff Hardy gets isolated early on by The Blue Bloods, who use frequent tags to keep a fresh man in the ring.  Jeff gets in a few shots but Lord Steven Regal takes him down and keeps him on the mat.  The Blue Bloods show a technical prowess.  After several minutes of domination, Jeff manages to make the tag to his brother Matt Hardy.  Matt comes in and the Hardy Boys use a flurry of high flying moves and double-team maneuvers.  Matt tags in Johnny B. Badd and we get all six men in the ring.  In the midst of the chaos, Badd gets the advantage, taking down Dave Taylor with a knockout punch.  Badd heads to the top turnbuckle and hits the signature Shooting Star Press!  Badd makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Johnny B. Badd and The Hardy Boys score the upset at 8:34!

Return Of An All-American
We go to the top of the ramp where Lanny Poffo is waiting.  Poffo talks about the WCW hotline and how he's happy to be here representing WCW Monday Nitro.  Poffo says that WCW Monday Nitro has the best roster in professional wrestling and that has only grown with the arrival of this man.  That man is the All-American Ron Simmons!  The crowd cheers as Simmons walks out and shakes hands with Poffo.  Simmons says it's great to be back in WCW where he belongs.  He says he's had quite the journey in his career, from his days tearing things up on the gridiron to becoming a dominant force in professional wrestling.  He admits, though, that he's here for one reason and that is to become the WCW World Heavyweight Champion once again.  Simmons says he's putting Hulk Hogan on notice that he's going to be a part of the World War 3 battle royal.  Simmons going to prove that he's the best when he takes on the best.  Before Simmons can continue, he gets interrupted.

kB5xFvs.gifORL37qZ.gif

Here comes the tag team known as Pretty Powerful!  Paul Roma and Hercules Hernandez walk up to Ron Simmons.  Roma tells Simmons to hold on.  He asks Simmons if he thinks he has what it takes to be a singles competitor again.  He says that he will always think of Ron Simmons as a tag team guy.  Simmons says that what Roma's saying sounds like a challenge to him.  He says that he's never backed down from a challenge and if Roma wants a taste of what the All-American is capable of, then he's got it.  Hercules steps forward and says he wants this to be a tag team match if Simmons can find someone willing to team with him.  Simmons and Hercules go eye to eye and Simmons tells Hercules that, next week, he's going to find out why people call Simmons the powerhouse of WCW.  He says to consider the challenge accepted and he will find himself a partner.  Poffo says you heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen!  Tag team action next week!  With that, Poffo sends us to the ring for our first hour main event.

Match #4
Greg Valentine vs. Jim Neidhart

Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine comes out, awaiting his mystery opponent for tonight.  The mystery opponent is the WCW return of Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart!  Neidhart showcases his power early on, overpowering Valentine with his sheer strength.  Valentine, though, uses some underhanded tactics to get control, focusing in on the knee of Neidhart.  Valentine definitely has to neutralize Neidhart's power if he wants to win the match.  Neidhart gets a few brief spurts of advantage but things change when Valentine inadvertently hits referee David Manning, knocking him down.  Valentine rolls out of the ring and gets a chair, sliding back in and preparing to strike Neidhart.  Valentine rears back with the chair but it's grabbed out of his hands by the arriving Steve Austin!  Superstar Steve Austin kicks Valentine when The Hammer turns toward him.  Austin drops Valentine with the Stun Gun before exiting the ring and heading back through the crowd.  Neidhart recovers, picking up Valentine and hitting him with the Anvil Flattener, a powerful front powerslam!  Neidhart makes the cover as the referee recovers: One...Two...Three!  Jim Neidhart wins at 13:03!

Bodyguard For Hire
To end the first hour, we go to a video promo with Big Bubba Rogers.  Rogers reminds everyone that he is the baddest man in the business.  He says he's not just your average wrestler or your average bodyguard.  He reminds everyone that he is a hired gun and is for hire for anyone who is willing to pay the price.  Rogers says he's proven what he is capable of.  He says to ask little Eddy Guerrero what he's capable of.  He says that he put Guerrero on the shelf because Diamond Dallas Page had the money to spare.  He says that he's a one man wrecking crew and can take out anyone in this company.  He ends by saying that if you have a problem that needs solved or an enemy that needs to be taken care of, call Big Bubba Rogers.  He says that he is the man that gets the job done, no matter the cost.  Rogers gives the typical bodyguard pose before we go back to the ring.

Match #5
Dean Malenko vs. Mr. JL

The second hour begins with a very hot crowd and a match between the technically minded Dean Malenko and the high flyer Mr. JL.  Malenko dominates in the early parts of the match, tying up JL on the mat.  Despite Malenko's early dominance, the masked JL starts firing back and hits a springboard cross body for a two count.  The momentum continues to shift back and forth as both men trade hard hitting moves and near falls.  JL unleashes a dazzling array of aerial assaults, while Malenko counters with his trademark technical precision.  As the match reaches it's climax, JL heads to the top turnbuckle.  Malenko manages to push his way to his feet and knocks JL into a seated position on the top turnbuckle.  Malenko climbs up and lifts JL onto his shoulders.  Malenko leaps off the top turnbuckle, hitting an Exploding Gutbuster, a fireman's carry gutbuster.  Malenko moves right into the Texas Cloverleaf!  JL struggles in the hold but is eventually forced to submit.  Dean Malenko picks up the win at 9:44!

We Got Drafted
We go back to the top of the ramp where Lanny Poffo is standing.  Poffo says that we have the hottest talent in the wrestling world right here on Nitro.  Speaking of hot new talent, he introduces us to a dynamic young tag team looking to make a splash here in WCW.  It's the team of Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle.  The two men walk down and stand on either side of Poffo, with Hardcastle doing the bunny ears on Poffo.  Cage asks Cincinnati how they're doing tonight.  He says that they are about to witness the awesomeness that is Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle.  Hardcastle says that they are here to take WCW by storm and show everyone why they are the future of tag team wrestling.  Cage says that when you put Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle together you get...well, you get a couple of handsome, talented guys who are going to kick some serious butt.  Hardcastle says that, speaking of kicking some butts, that's what's about to happen to the Miracle Violence Connection.  He says it will be a miracle if they can last more than three minutes with them.  Cage, though, says they don't want to wait until Starrcade.  Cage challenges Lex Luger and Barry Windham to face them next week on Monday Nitro.  Cage says that they are the next big thing in WCW.  Hardcastle says you're entering the danger zone tonight.  Cage and Hardcastle pose before heading toward the ring because their match is next.

Match #6
Quarterfinals Of Number One Contender Tag Team Tournament
Christian and Hardcastle vs. Miracle Violence Connection (w/Mike Rotunda)

The penultimate match is one where one team will win and advance to take on the Road Warriors next week and the other team will lose and go to the back of the line.  Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle take on the Varsity Club's Miracle Violence Connection with Mike Rotunda in their corner.  This match is a battle between the youth and speed of Cage and Hardcastle and the strength and technical ability of Terry Gordy and Steve Williams.  Cage and Hardcastle go right after Williams when the bell sounds, knocking Gordy out of the ring and focusing on Dr. Death.  The first few minutes have Cage and Hardcastle in control until Williams starts to fight back, managing to throw Cage across the ring with his strength.  The Miracle Violence Connection gets in control, isolating Cage in their corner.  Williams hits Cage with the gutwrench powerbomb, known as The Doctor Bomb and scores a two count when Hardcastle comes in and breaks up the pin.  Cage fights back and manages to tag in Hardcastle.  The match goes back and forth with all four men entering the ring.  Gordy manages to strike Hardcastle with the Oriental Spike!  Gordy makes the cover: One...Two...Three!  Miracle Violence Connection advance in 10:37!

Headed To World War 3
We go to a video promo with the WCW World Tag Team Champions Lex Luger and Barry Windham.  Windham starts the promo, introducing everyone to the WCW World Tag Team Champions.  He says they didn't win these titles by accident.  He says they earned these titles through hard work and dedication.  Luger chimes in that there is no stopping them.  He says they're the Total Packages.  Windham says that, while being the WCW World Tag Team Champions is great, he has made the decision to put his hat in the ring when it comes to the World War 3 battle royal.  Luger says he's done the same thing and reminds Windham that this is every man for himself.  He says that only one man out of forty can win.  Windham says he will be that one.  But that they have a title defense next week.  He says they are accepting the challenge of Christian Cage and Sexton Hardcastle.  Luger says they better bring their A-game because when you step in the ring with Luger and Windham you're walking into the lion's den.  The two nod in agreement and we go to the ring for our main event.

Match #7
Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels vs. Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage (w/Miss Elizabeth)

Our very first main event for the brand-split era of Monday Nitro features four legends of professional wrestling.  Hulk Hogan comes out limping from the back, along with Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.  Roddy Piper and Shawn Michaels look as arrogant as ever when they come out to the ring.  Piper taunts Hogan from his side of the ring and this forces Hogan to start the match with his long-time rival.  Hogan shows that he still has his strength early on when he shoves Piper backward into a neutral corner.  Hogan flexes and poses in the middle of the ring.  Piper comes back over and pokes Hogan in the eye.  Piper drags Hogan to his corner and tags in Michaels.  They use some quick double-team moves before sending Hogan outside the ring.  Michaels climbs to the top turnbuckle backwards and hits the Asai moonsault on Hogan outside the ring!  Michaels poses over Hogan to boos from the crowd.  The action returns inside the ring where Michaels and Piper continue to make frequent tags.  The momentum shifts when Piper sends Hogan to the ropes and they hit a double clothesline, sending both men to the mat.  Both men crawl to their corners and Piper tags in Michaels.  Michaels rushes in but can't stop Hogan from tagging in The Macho Man!

Randy Savage comes in, throwing punches to both Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper!  Savage Irish whips Michaels into the corner and then climbs up, raining punches as the crowd counts along.  They get to ten before Savage drops down and picks up Michaels, body slamming him in the middle of the ring.  Savage points to the corner but Hulk Hogan asks for a tag.  Savage looks frustrated but tags in Hogan.  Hogan comes in and bounces off the ropes but is tripped by Piper from outside the ring!  Piper slides in the ring and helps Michaels to his feet.  In comes Randy Savage and we have all four men in the ring!  Savage knocks Piper out of the ring with a clothesline that sends him through the ropes.  Savage helps Hogan up and Hogan motions for Savage to head to the top turnbuckle.  Savage obliges as Hogan grabs Michaels and holds his arms back.  Savage leaps with the Flying Double Axe Handle -- Michaels moves and Savage strikes Hogan!  The replay would show Michaels kicking backward and hitting that injured knee of Hogan that forced him to release The Heartbreak Kid.  Michaels hits Savage with Sweet Chin Music.  He turns toward Hogan -- Sweet Chin Music!  Michaels makes the cover, placing his feet on the ropes: One...Two...Three!  Shawn Michaels and Roddy Piper upset Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage at 21:48!

A Heel Turn
Shawn Michaels has pinned the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan!  Michaels and Roddy Piper slide out of the ring and walk to the back.  Miss Elizabeth helps Randy Savage to his feet.  Once Savage is up, he walks over to the fallen Hulk Hogan.  He helps Hogan up but Hogan shoves him backward!  The two men exchange words off-microphone before Savage throws a punch!  Hogan fires back and the two men begin brawling in the middle of the ring!  Hogan blocks a Savage punch and throws three straight punches to Savage!  Savage looks stunned but then kicks Hogan in his hurt knee!  Savage body slams Hogan and then heads to the top turnbuckle.  Miss Elizabeth looks shocked at this turn of events and tries to stand in between Savage and Hogan.  Savage raises his arms in the air and then leaps -- Miss Elizabeth moves and Savage hits the Flying Elbow Drop on Hogan!  Savage grabs the WCW World Heavyweight title belt and raises it up to a mix of boos and cheers.  Miss Elizabeth tries to talk some sense into Savage but Savage bumps her with his shoulder and exits the ring.  He drops the title belt but stands at the top of the ramp, raising his arms up in victory as the show comes to an end.  We'll see you next week on WCW Monday Nitro!

Unfinished Business
WCW Saturday Night is live for the first time in a long time.  Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes welcome everyone to the show here in the Omaha Civic Auditorium.  The fans in Ohama, Nebraska stand on their feet and cheer for this brand.  The 7,815 fans fill in to a 9,300 seat stadium.  The fans in the Midwest cheer as 'Man Called Sting' begins to play.  Out from the back comes the number one pick of the draft, Sting.  Sting high fives the fans as he walks down to the ring.  He climbs the stairs and steps inside, releasing a howl that is echoed by the crowd.  Sting welcomes everyone to the best show in WCW.  He talks about the history of WCW Saturday Night and how this was always the flagship show.  Then, he talks about how he has some unfinished business that he wants to complete at World War 3.  Sting says he knows that the two shows are separated but he wants to face Shawn Michaels in a one on one match.  He says that this hasn't happened in the history of professional wrestling and he wants this match.  He says that everyone knows that Michaels is leaving WCW to guest star in a television show before Starrcade and won't be back until 1996.  Sting says he's the type of man who will always be here for the fans.  He says he wants to send Michaels to that television show with a loss.  Sting releases a howl and gets interrupted.

I8j5U07.gifdTcxzdl.gifWs9jjB4.gif

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Brian Pillman come out from the back and walk toward the ring.  They surround the ring on three sides.  Flair gets on the microphone and says that The Horsemen should have been the number one picks.  He reminds everyone that diamonds are forever and so are The Horsemen.  Flair announces that all three of them will be in the World War 3 battle royal.  He says it's only a matter of time before The Horsemen hold all the gold in WCW, whether that's on Saturday Night, Monday Nitro or wherever they want to be.  Sting looks between the three men as they climb on the apron.  Flair drops his microphone and The Horsemen enter the ring, attacking Sting.  Sting fights back, but The Horsemen use the numbers advantage to bring Sting down.  Brian Pillman climbs onto the apron and then hits the Air Pillman!  Pillman drops to his knees and begins throwing punches to Sting.  The crowd boos this moment but the boos turn to cheers.

OsRzyYa.gifziu2kVT.gifpSvkDjd.gif

The boos turn to cheers because Ricky Steamboat, Lex Luger and Barry Windham rush down to and enter the ring.  The Dragon exchanges chops with Ric Flair, while Luger attacks Arn Anderson and Barry Windham attacks Brian Pillman.  It's a wild brawl to start the show.  Sting is laid out on the mat as Steamboat sends Flair over the top rope to the floor.  Steamboat turns and Arn Anderson clotheslines him over the top rope.  Steamboat holds on to the top rope, skinning the cat and flipping back inside the ring.  In an opposite corner, Lex Luger and Barry Windham send Arn Anderson through the ropes to the floor.  Brian Pillman is the only one left in the ring.  Luger helps Sting to his feet and then Irish whips Pillman into the corner.  Sting prepares for the Stinger Splash but Flair and Anderson pull Pillman out of the ring.  The Horsemen look up in the ring angrily as the four men celebrate inside the ring.  Tony Schiavone and Dusty Rhodes talk about how Sting will face Brian Pillman tonight and Ric Flair will take on Ricky Steamboat.  After the ring clears, it's time for our opening bout.

A tag team match begins the wrestling portion of the show as The Funks, Terry Funk and Dory Funk, Jr., take on The Rock 'N' Roll Express, Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson.  The winners of this match will take on the winners of the Harlem Heat/Steiner Brothers match next week on WCW Saturday Night.  The winners of that match will take on either the Road Warriors or Miracle Violence Connection at World War 3 to earn a shot at the WCW World Tag Team titles at Starrcade.  This match features two veteran teams going at it in a back and forth contest.  Ricky Morton gets caught in the corner of The Funks and plays the face-in-peril throughout the middle portion of the bout.  His leg is the focus of Terry and Dory.  When Dory goes for the Piledriver, Morton manages to block it and flip Dory over in a back body drop.  Morton crawls to the corner and tags in Gibson!  Gibson comes in and strikes both The Funks as Terry is tagged in as well.  Gibson hits Terry with a vertical suplex and scores a two count.  Gibson tags in Morton and they go for a double dropkick but Morton cannot hit it due to his leg being hurt throughout the bout.  Dory Funk, Jr. knocks Robert Gibson out of the ring.  Terry Funk moves in and grabs the leg of Morton -- Spinning Toe Hold!  Morton struggles with the hold and then has no choice but to submit.  The Funks advance in 11:46!

Return Of A Snake
We go to the interview area where Gene Okerlund is standing by.  Mean Gene says that tonight is the beginning of the best show in the history of WCW.  Okerlund reminds everyone that WCW Saturday Night has the best roster and now he is about to bring out the newest member of this roster.  This man is a legend in the professional wrestling business.  Please welcome Jake 'The Snake' Roberts!  Roberts walks out, carrying the snake bag over his shoulder.  He joins Okerlund and Okerlund welcomes him to WCW Saturday Night.  Roberts says he is happy to be here and that he will be participating in the World War 3 battle royal to earn a shot at Hulk Hogan and the WCW World Heavyweight title.  Roberts says he has respect for Hogan but he is coming for the WCW World Heavyweight title.  Not only that, but he is also coming for The Giant and the WCW United States title.  Roberts says he is a future champion here in this company.  Trust me.  Roberts gives a smile and Okerlund sends us to the ring for our next match.

Match #2
The Dungeon Of Doom (Kamala and The Shark) (w/The Taskmaster) vs. The Armstrong Boys

The second match of the night features two members of The Dungeon Of Doom: Kamala and The Shark against The Armstrong Boys, Steve and Scott Armstrong.  The Ugandan Giant strikes Steve Armstrong with a thrust kick, knocking him down.  The Taskmaster leads from outside the ring, shouting instructions.  Kamala picks up Steve and knocks him down with a headbutt before Steve tags in his brother.  Scott Armstrong rushes in and goes for a dropkick but Kamala swats him out of the air.  Kamala picks up Scott and brings him down with a body slam.  Kamala tags in The Shark.  The Shark sends Scott to the ropes and catches him with a sidewalk slam.  He picks up Scott and locks in a bearhug.  It seems Scott might be likely to submit, but The Shark throws him down before he can.  He tags in Kamala and bounces off the ropes, hitting The Shark Bomb, a seated senton.  Kamala bounces off the ropes and hits the Splash!  Kamala makes the cover, hooking the leg: One...Two...Three!  The Dungeon Of Doom win at 8:12!

New Triple Threat
It's time for Mean Gene Okerlund at the interview area once again!  Okerlund talks up The Dungeon Of Doom and how they are a force to be reckoned with here on WCW Saturday Night.  Okerlund reminds us that one of them, The Giant, holds the WCW United States title.  Speaking of groups here on WCW Saturday Night, he introduces one of the newest groups here in professional wrestling.  Here comes The Franchise Shane Douglas and a brand new tag team here on WCW Saturday Night, The Eliminators, John Kronus and Perry Saturn.  Okerlund welcomes them here to this brand.  Douglas gets on the microphone and begins hyping up The Eliminators.  Douglas says that both John Kronus and Perry Saturn were trained by the legend Killer Kowalski.  He says that they are now the biggest threat here in the tag team division with their finisher, Total Elimination.  Douglas then talks about himself being the measuring stick here on WCW Saturday Night.  Douglas says that they are going to make everyone bow down to The Franchise.  Douglas announces that he will be in the 40 man World War 3 battle royal and make that washed-up has-been Hulk Hogan bow to The Franchise at Starrcade.  Douglas and The Eliminators pose as Okerlund sends us to the ring for the first hour main event.

Match #3
Brian Pillman vs. Sting

Our first hour main event features the number one draft pick in Sting taking on a member of The Horsemen in Brian Pillman.  The match is definitely not as good as one might have thought as Sting is definitely still suffering from migraines.  It shows when he hits a standing dropkick on Pillman and then grabs his head in pain.  This allows Pillman to gain the advantage and catch Sting with the headscissors takedown.  Pillman plays to the crowd before turning back to Sting.  The crowd is definitely behind Sting as Pillman continues to be in control.  Pillman sends Sting out of the ring and then climbs to the top turnbuckle, hitting a flying crossbody out of the ring on Sting!  Pillman brings the action back inside the ring and continues to set up Sting for his finisher.  He climbs onto the apron, waiting for Sting to get to his feet.  Sting does and Pillman leaps onto the top rope.  He leaps for Air Pillman, but Sting hits the standing dropkick!  Both men are slow to get to their feet but Sting takes control.  Sting throws punches, winding up the last one before knocking Pillman to the ground with a right cross.  Sting grabs Pillman and sends him to the corner with an Irish whip.  He backs into the opposite corner and then charges -- Stinger Splash!  Pillman drops onto the mat and Sting grabs him by the legs -- Scorpion Deathlock!  Sting leans back in the hold as Pillman struggles.  Pillman is forced to submit.  Sting picks up the victory at 13:23!

Hardcore Returning
The first hour ends with a video hyping the upcoming return of Cactus Jack.  The video shows the history of Cactus Jack in WCW, including highlights of his match with Mil Mascaras from Clash of the Champions X.  We move on to his falls count anywhere match with Sting at Beash Blast in 1992.  Then, highlights are shown of his feud with Big Van Vader.  A short part of the video shows Cactus Jack losing his ear in a match against Big Van Vader.  A voiceover lets us know that Cactus Jack will return next week on WCW Saturday Night, so make sure you tune in!  Bang!  Bang!

Always A Good Guy...Right?
The second hour begins with the arrival of wrestling veteran Tito Santana.  Santana smiles and high fives the fans on the way to the ring.  He steps inside and takes up a microphone, welcoming everyone to the second hour of WCW Saturday Night.  Santana says he's proud to be a roster member of WCW Saturday Night.  He begins talking about his history in professional wrestling.  He says that he has always been a good guy out here, taking into account the fans.  He says that this is the type of person he has always been in his heart and he will always be a man that stands for the side of good and right.  He announces that he will be taking part in the World War 3 battle royal this year and looks forward to a good match against Hulk Hogan or Randy Savage at Starrcade.  Before Santana can continue, he gets interrupted.

GhA5S96.gif

The Taskmaster walks out from the back and steps inside in the ring.  The Taskmaster talks about how Tito Santana says that he will always be the good guy.  The Taskmaster says that people are generally only as good as their options.  He also says that most good people are stupid.  They see the best in people when most people are at their worst.  The Taskmaster invites Santana to take a walk on the dark side and become his true innate self.  Santana says he will never do that.  He says that he will always be the good guy and on the side of the fans here in WCW.  The Taskmaster challenges Santana to a match next week against one of the Dungeon Of Doom members.  Santana accepts the challenge and says he looks forward to the match next week.  He tells The Taskmaster to have a good day before exiting the ring as The Taskmaster stares him down.

Match #4
Quarterfinals Of Number One Contender Tag Team Tournament
Harlem Heat vs. Steiner Brothers

Our fourth match features two brother tag teams as Harlem Heat take on Steiner Brothers.  The winners of this contest take on The Funks next week to determine who goes to World War 3.  The beginning of the match is absolute chaos as all four men battle in the ring.  Eventually, the Steiner Brothers grab both members of Harlem Heat and toss them over their heads in overhead belly-to-belly suplexes.  Booker T and Stevie Ray slide out of the ring as Rick Steiner jogs around, barking.  Rick drops to all fours and Scott stands over him and they stare down Harlem Heat.  Once the match gets started proper, Harlem Heat drag Rick Steiner into their corner and isolate him with double teams and quick tags in and out.  Booker catches Rick with the 110th Street Slam, scoring a two count before it's broken up by Scott.  Booker heads to the top turnbuckle and goes for the Heat Seeker, a missile dropkick but Rick manages to move and Booker lands hard on his back.  Rick drops to his knees and then pulls himself up via the ropes.  Booker gets up and is taken down with a Steinerline by Rick.  Rick crawls to his corner and tags in Scott.  Booker manages to tag in Ray and Scott comes in with Steinerlines for both Booker and Ray!  Scott hooks Stevie Ray and brings him over with a double underhook suplex.  Rick comes back in and brawls with Booker.  Both of them go outside the ring.  In the ring, Scott sends Ray to the ropes and hits him with a tilt-a-whirl slam.  Scott waves his finger in the air, picking up Ray.  He sends him to the ropes one more time -- Frankensteiner!  Scott makes the cover as Booker T slides back in the ring: One...Two...Rick trips Booker and pulls him back out...Three!  Steiner Brothers win the match and advance at 18:26!

Giant Surprise
Backstage, we are shown the WCW United States Champion The Giant and he is...walking!  The Giant walks into a dressing room where the mastadon helmet of Big Van Vader is sitting in the middle of the room.  The Giant looks confused at this, tilting his head for a moment.  He approaches the helmet and steam fires up from the helmet right into the chest and face of The Giant!  The Giant roars in pain, stumbling backward.  He knocks into the door of the dressing room, knocking the door off it's hinges!  The door falls to the ground and The Giant staggers away as we go to the interview area.

Studd Express?
For one final time this night, Gene Okerlund is standing by at the interview area.  Mean Gene hypes the WCW hotline and says that he will be talking about WCW Saturday Night and all of the fallout from the draft.  He tells the fans to make sure that they tune in.  Then, he brings out some of the newest members of the Saturday Night roster and they are the Studd Stable members Col. Robert Parker, Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater!  The crowd boos these three men as they join Okerlund.  Parker says that they are here on WCW Saturday Night, which makes this the best show in professional wrestling.  Parker chides the members of the championship committee because the Studd Stable were not chosen to be in the tag team tournament.  Parker says that they would have beaten any of the four teams in that tournament, reminding fans that Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater are former WCW World Tag Team Champions.  He says they certainly would have lasted longer than the Rock 'N' Roll Express did.  The crowd boos this talk but those boos turn to cheers.

RDDNISh.gifnO45tXp.gif

Col. Robert Parker's words bring out Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, The Rock 'N' Roll Express.  Morton looks between Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater and then says that Parker's words sound like a challenge.  Buck says he's going to make it a challenge right now for a tag team match next week.  Slater laughs and says that they can beat The Rock 'N' Roll Express one handed.  Robert Gibson speaks up, saying he's not going to take them up on the one-handed offer but they will take them up on the wrestling match next week on WCW Saturday Night.  Gibson says they are going to turn the Studd Stable into the Dud Stable.  Morton tells the Studd Stable to strap in because they're in for a wild ride.  The four wrestlers go face to face, while Okerlund asks for security and then sends us to the ring for our main event.

Match #5
Ric Flair (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Ricky Steamboat

It is main event time and what a main event we have for you tonight.  On one side, we have The Nature Boy Ric Flair, the leader of the Four Horsemen.  In his corner stands his Enforcer Arn Anderson.  In the opposite corner, we have Ricky The Dragon Steamboat.  Both men are veterans of the squared circle and veterans against each other.  When the bell sounds, the two men circle each other and Flair backs to the ropes, using the referee to push Steamboat back.  Flair does a strut and releases a 'Whoo' that is echoed by a contingent of the fans here.  The two men finally lock up with Steamboat walking Flair back into a corner.  Flair shifts at the last moment, sending Steamboat into the corner instead.  He releases and unleashes a knife-edge chop in the corner.  Flair hits two more chops before Steamboat fires back with chops of his own.  Steamboat throws punches and chops, backing Flair to the center of the ring.  Flair puts his fists up and then drops face-first onto the mat.  Steamboat picks up Flair and sends him to the ropes, hitting an arm drag into an armbar.  Steamboat kneels there with the armbar, locking it in tight.  Flair works his way to his feet and uses a throw to get Steamboat to release the hold.  Flair rolls outside the ring to catch a breath and regroup with Arn Anderson.  Ricky Steamboat walks over to the ropes and grabs the top rope, using it to propel himself over with a cross body.  But, Arn Anderson shoves Flair out of the way and takes the blow himself.  Flair moves back in quickly and stomps Steamboat on the knee.  He sends Steamboat into the ring post and then drags him over to the camera.  He uses the cord on the camera to choke Steamboat behind the referee's back.  Flair sends Steamboat back into the ring as the match continues.

The match continues with Ric Flair in control of Ricky Steamboat.  Flair turns his focus to the right knee of Steamboat, stomping on it and even locking in a leglock that has Steamboat struggling and trying not to submit.  Flair releases the leglock and then places the leg across the bottom rope.  Flair uses the top rope to propel himself up and hit a seated senton on the leg.  Steamboat cries out in pain as Flair does a strut across the ring.  Flair picks up Steamboat and hits the shinbreaker, laying Steamboat out in the center of the ring.  Flair bounces off the ropes and hits a running, jumping knee drop.  Flair makes the cover: One...Two...Shoulder Up!  The crowd cheers as Steamboat gets the shoulder up!  The match continues with Flair still focusing on that right knee.  Steamboat gets a few quick shots of momentum but they are usually stopped either by Flair or by Arn Anderson interfering in the bout.  Flair goes for the Figure Four but Steamboat rolls him into a small package: One...Two...Kickout!  Flair pops back up to his feet and pulls up Steamboat into a corner.  Flair laces Steamboat's chest with knife-edge chops and then sends him to the opposite side.  Flair rushes in but takes a back elbow from Steamboat.  Steamboat limps in and Flair and Steamboat hit a double clothesline, sending both men to the mat.

Referee Charles Robinson begins to count both men down on the mat.  Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat are slow to get up.  Flair gets up first and moves in, tripping Steamboat down and grabbing the right leg.  Flair gives it a hard yank and then drops an elbow on the knee.  Flair gets up and pulls Steamboat to his feet.  Flair gives another strut across the ring before coming back to Steamboat and Steamboat gets his second wind!  He fires chops and punches to Flair before sending Flair to the ropes and hitting a standing dropkick!  Steamboat grabs his knee for a moment but manages to pull himself up.  Steamboat grabs Flair and sends him to the turnbuckle.  Flair flips up and over the turnbuckle, landing on the apron.  He runs across and climbs the turnbuckle where he's met by Steamboat.  Steamboat body slams Flair off the top turnbuckle and then moves in, locking the standing double chicken wing on Flair!  Flair shakes his head, refusing to submit.  Arn Anderson climbs on the apron, drawing the attention of the referee.  Anderson tries to get in the ring but the referee stops him.  Steamboat sees this and releases Flair, walking over to Anderson.  Steamboat knocks Anderson off the apron with a punch!  With Steamboat distracted, Flair hits a chop block to the knee from behind.  Flair drags Steamboat to the center of the ring and locks in the Figure Four!  Flair uses the ropes for leverage as the referee asks Steamboat if he submits.  This eventually forces The Dragon to submit.  Ric Flair gets the submission win at 18:52!

Pull Apart Brawl
Ric Flair has gotten the win in the first main event of WCW Saturday Night in the brand split era.  Flair refuses to release the Figure Four!  Arn Anderson climbs in the ring and grabs referee Charles Robinson, tossing him out of the ring.  Brian Pillman comes out and Anderson and Pillman put the boots to Ricky Steamboat!  Flair finally releases the Figure Four and the three Horsemen members continue to attack The Dragon.  Anderson slides out of the ring and grabs a chair, sliding back in.  He places Steamboat's right leg in the chair before Sting, Lex Luger and Barry Windham come running in from the back!  All six men, aside from Ricky Steamboat, do battle in a pull apart brawl inside the ring.  Just like with what happened earlier tonight, The Horsemen are sent out of the ring by Sting and the WCW World Tag Team Champions!  The crowd cheers as Sting releases a howl in the ring.  Sting, Luger and Windham stand over Steamboat as The Horsemen back up the aisle.  We'll see you next week on WCW Saturday Night where The Funks will take on Steiner Brothers!  Make sure you tune in!
