Televions and movies... What you guys watching?

Thriller

Recommended Posts

We all watch TV and movies (I assume). So, what have you guys been watching recently? I guess I should put some sort of spoiler warning? Its just good netiquette after all. **Spoilers** Movies: Jackass 2 - Very enjoyable I thought, only laughed hysterically a few times, one example being Pontius (sp?) almost getting bitten by the snake. I started watching the Dirty Sanchez Movie but after a few minutes I gave up, I just cant bare those men and there stupid acsents. OldBoy - Quite literally one of the best movies ever made. Its about a man who is kidnapped and held prisoner for 15 years, then let out and given 5 days to find the people responsible, the man's name is Oh Daesu which means "getting along with people." Its Korean, which makes it better, if it was American it would suck, saying that I hear there will be a Hollywood bastardisation of it. This one has lots of memorable scenes and quotes, for example: "Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone." Go and watch it, right now. Go on. Casino Royale - Meh. It was ok. I like James Bond, so I gave it some serious attention, but it could have done with being half an hour shorted. The new bloke is no Pierce, Sean or Roger. The end was snazzy though. Jimmy Carr Live - Not a movie, but a DVD. It could have been called Standup? He has two and uses the same material which is annoying, but there is some new stuff which I found funny. I know alot of people dislike Jim because his jokes arent exactly... I dont know what word to use, basically he calls people the C word. Its funny though. Borat - Meh. Slightly funny, I guess. Television: Curb Your Enthusiasm - An acquired taste, you ever love it, or you dont. If you dont, please dont talk to me. Its hilarious. Larry David is god, or atleast some kind of quasi deity. I find myself siding with Larry during all of his arguements and whatnot. I wont start quoting Curb because I could go all night (just like Ric Flair, woooo) but trust me, if you havent seen Curb you owe it to the Larry David in you to watch it. Nip/Tuck - If you want logical storylines Nip/Tuck is not for you, but if you dont mind suspending your disbelief you'll love it. Like me, I love it, I did kind of feel let down when The Carver turned out to be Quentin, while it made sense it was kind of anti-climaxtic (thats not spelt right), The Carver was an awesome character, as is Escobar, thank god they didnt kill him off. Family Guy - Talk about a fall from grace, I'm sure you'll all agree that FG is a shell of its former self. Used to be LOL-errific, now its just not. And finally... LOST - Best. Show. Ever. In my eyes anyway. I love it. Totally addicted, cant wait until February, especially the whole Desmond situation and Locke/Eye Patch Man deal, altho to be frank I could care less about Jack, Kate and Sawyer, they're trapped on a seperate island, wheres the tension? I know some people prefer Prison Break or 24 but its Lost all the way for me. I find myself thinking about it quite abit (sometimes at inappropriate moments), thinking up my own little theories, I even wrote my own Lost script for the first episode back in February :o, it was stupid though. I would love to write my own TV script (I dont expect to become a millionaire or anything, but its just something I want to do/am starting, if TEW didnt keep distracting me that is, damn you Ryland) and Lost is my inspiration. John Locke, Desmond Hume, Mr. Eko. Three of the greatest characters ever. Plus Evangeline Lilly, she's not too bad on the eyes ;). So there you go. Now its your turn to share and if there isnt several pages of posts tomorrow I shall be very cross. Night guys. Discussion ~ [Disclaimer: This is a discussion, so unless you can discuss without forcing your opinions onto other people with an attitude of "I'm right, you're wrong, you're stupid" please dont bother taking part.]

Interesting thread Thriller. I want to play (pretty much bored waiting for the nightshift to start) Movies: Clerks 2 Funniest movie I've seen in a while. I have never even seen Clerks 1, but that was the beauty. You didn't have to. Plus I have enjoyed Kevin Smith's other movies. Even Jersey Girl. The scene with the guy doing the donkey was hilarious. 4 out of 5 Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest Simply awesome. I was hooked after the first one (Pirates are badasses). And this one was even better. The triple threat sword fight was intense and hysterical at the same time. 4.5 out of 5 A Walk To Remember I watched it because I had to...Girls and their chick flicks! Anyway, it actually wasn't bad. Granted it was just another random teen love story, it was better then other's I've seen. Plus Mandy Moore is hot 3 out of 5 Thank You For Smoking It was okay. It was a little to artsy for me. Plus I smoke, so I pretty much made up my mind about the movie before seeing it. 2 out of 5 Television Prison Break Holy crap I love this show. In my opinion it's the best show on TV today. It returns January 22nd (in North America at least), I recommend checking it out if you haven't already. I bought season one on DVD to tide me over until then. I'm dying to see what happens with the whole Kellerman shooting Mahone and siding with Linc and Michael situation. Plus I'm mesmerized by the love story between Michael and Sara. I don't know why really. Family Guy Sorry Thriller, I totally disagree with you. I think they are still as funny as ever. Though I have always thought South Park was better. It's still a great show. Much better than The Simpsons. South Park Still the secondbest show on tv in my opinion (next to Prison Break). They are constantly pushing the envelope and making better and better shows. This season especially has been great. Matt and Trey really picked up their game. The "Warcraft" episode and "Cartoon Wars" episodes especially were funny as hell. Other than those shows I don't really watch much current television aside from RAW, Smackdown and iMPACT. I'm still locked in reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends. I do watch The Daily Show every night though.

I'm on a Friday kick again, so movie wise that one... I loved Chris Tucker in that one.. T.V. - I just usually do the wrestling, and SpongeBob... that's thanks to my little girl, so a lot of kid shows right now... :D ....oh, and ISKA Karate moved to 10:00 pm, so I can watch a little bit of that as well... if you have ESPN Classic, you have to check this out...

I dont catch much TV at the moment. But i try watch Torchwood, Lost, 24 & Battlestar Galactica. Only 2 are on at the mo though Family Guy is normally quicker to get on DVD than wait for TV. And i think its probably even better than it used to be. However if i have a spare moment and nothing to do i will usually be found flicking to UKGold for Red Dwarf & Bottom

i havn't watched many films recently, i saw the break-up, didnt go much on that, it was suprisingly un-funny (although Jennifer Aniston looked gorgeous in it) and Superman - which is ok. Television-wise i have been watching Scrubs every night on paramount, hollioakes with da missus (she makes me, honest), ghostwhisperer and Ramsey's kitchen nightmares - good stuff! It's good to see so many peep's watching Kevin Smith's work, the guys a legend and Clerks is one of my favourite films.

First off: Pirates of the Caribbean 2 is a horrible movie and anyone who likes it should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves! TV Shows Prison Break - 9/10 Lost - 7.5/10 West Wing - 9/10 (Just got the complete DVD boxset) Torchwood - 7/10 Family Guy - 7/10 American Dad - 7.5/10 One Tree Hill - 8/10 House - 8.5/10 Heroes - Started at 7/10, now easily 8/10 Smallville - 6/10 (but still a guilty pleasure) Scrubs - 9/10 Entourage - 9/10 (Arie might be favourite EVER tv character) Quantum Leap - 8/10 - "Oh boy!" Films Casino Royale - 8/10 - Craig is the best Bond since Connery, FACT! Borat - 7/10 - Haven't laughed so much in years, but still had an undercurrent of arrogance, which I could have lived without! Saw 3 - 3/10 - zzzzzzzz Tenacious D - 6/10 - Funny, but not a patch on School of Rock (Should have been more)

Movies Saw 3 - Like the previous Saw movies, horrible. 2/10 Casino Royale - Two words, Pierce Bronsan. 3/10 Borat- Greatest comedy I've seen since Talladega Nights. 9/10 Click- Funny and sad, one of Sandler's best works. 8/10 Monty Python's Lfe of Brian - Great once I figured out the British accent. 8/10 TV The Simpsons - decent season, not as good as it could be. 6/10 Family Guy - not living up to it's full potential either. 5/10 War at Home - always great, best sitcom on TV. 7/10 WWE RAW - Boring. DX and then change the channel. 2/10 (o_0?) ECW - The new ECw has been crappy since day one. 2/10 TNA iMPACT- OK, really needs a longer timeslot though. 5/10 Futurama - own it all and seen it all but still funny. 8/10 Get a Life - Chris Elliot is a f*cking genius. 10/10 South Park - overrated and too mainstream for it's good. 3/10 Books Nobody asked but I've been on a reading kick lately. Dragon Ball Z Vol.18 - Meh. Vintage DBZ, cool fights, too much dialogue. 4/10 WWE Legends - Pretty good history lesson. 6/10 Tangled Ropes - Horrible, just horrible. 3/10 WrestleCrap - funny, but not near as funny as Death of WCW. 5/10 Death of WCW - Great! Those two should put out a series. 7/10 Lucky Man - Michael J. Fox is an interesting person. 7/10 There's my two cents. Also, anyone other than me notice the forums have been a bit dead lately?

TV ............................... (not watching anything currently) I do watch Soprano's, 24, Lost and other shows but i'd much rather get them on dvd so I can watch them when I want to. ie. it just gets to the good bit on 24 or Lost and..... *big intake of breath* the credits roll. Infuriating! Movies The Exorcism of Emily Rose - alright I suppose. ----------------------------------------------- Anyway you lot, enough of this movie/tv watching, get yourself a good book instead. ;)
So you don't watch anything that isn't American then?!
No, I just hate the Welsh. I jest, I jest. I watch anything worth watching and lets face it, when it comes to movies and TV the yanks have us beat, we have Eastenders, they have 24, we have Torchwood, they have Lost. Phoenix Nights and Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere were good, Scrubs was ok and thats all I can think of. I'm sure you'll remind me of some more ;) England prevails! Which reminds me... V For Vendetta was a good movie, very good infact. I am a sucker for a man in a mask though. I'm no good with ratings, but I'd give it 4/5, the fight scene at the end against Mr Creedy and his goons with all the slow motion and whatnot was amazing I thought. "Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof."
Family Guy Sorry Thriller, I totally disagree with you. I think they are still as funny as ever.
Really? Interesting. I just remember first being introduced to FG, first episode I saw was PTV, I hadnt laughed that much since I was a little girl. Then I saw the episode where Stewie learns to use the toilet, I was quoting that bad boy for weeks. I do that alot, I'm one of those lame people who cant help copy lines from the goggle box. But anyway, I just dont find myself tickled pink these days, I hope they dont up like Simpsons though, in the 18th season with everyone wishing they'd just stop before the make themselves look even worse. Kinda like Ric Flair. (Bad Ric Flair jabs ~)

(Bad Ric Flair jabs ~)
You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong or stupid it is. The Simpsons isn't as good as it used to be, I agree, but you try to write original and funny but also Simpson-esque stories after 17 years. Even further, it is obviously funny to enough people to keep it on the air in the same timeslot and have a movie in production. So The Simpsons are not making themselves look bad as long as the ratings tell me otherwise.

People need to learn quality doesn't equal money in everything. I should apply at Titan Towers because they would probably hire me. Do I agree that selling somebody a wrestling show with less angles than a circle is good for the industry? No. Does it make money? Yes. Money talks my friend. People don't ask how did the fans like the show. They ask how much money did we make. It's called life, learn about it, shop for a cheap price on eBay, and then get one.
It's called life, learn about it, shop for a cheap price on eBay, and then get one.
easy tiger, lets not get snippy! Just remember that an opinion is like an A-hole, everyone has one, but no-one wants to hear it (apart from possibly the person who owns it)

You can have quality. I'll take the statistics and the money thank you. But I'm not argue with a person over the internet. I've seen The Holy Grail, UnderTaker666. I thought it was great too. I've been watching alot of Mel Brooks lately too. History of the World Part One is headache-causing funny. Blazing Saddles is a classic. On a sad note, a friend of mine's son got kidnapped about a week ago. Sucks.

Yes, yes, I should purchase a life from eBay, mine is very dull, after all who wants to watch an excellent TV programme when I can watch one that stinks but is also watched by a million other people.
But I'm not argue with a person over the internet.
I wasnt argueing, I was discussing. Friendly discussion.
