  1. I call BS on this. I've been under the impression for the last 10 years or so the vast majority of TV is for women and as has been said, things like CSI seem pretty gender neutral. In fact most cop shows to me look like they are leaning more towards women than men these days since they started being more about forensics than guns.
  2. Totally unrelated to everything but Gatorbait's avatar reminded me that Psych is one of the few American TV shows from recent years I have enjoyed. Only got into it this year and have been catching up. My tastes in most things put me at odds with what is popular today but I really I like the formula, each episode being a self-contained story with a resolution and the humour which all remind me of the way TV shows were when I was growing up as opposed to the meandering season-long story archs and overly serious nature of most series in recent times.
  3. He isn't a second generation wrestler as far as I know, so he is at least safe from the worst of the dodgy names.
  4. Meh, some people seem to like him but I think he's probably the least charismatic guy alive and can't quite fathom his rapid rise in RoH.
  5. That isn't the best news in the world for ROH's plans but personally as someone who cannot stand Tyler Black I have no problem if he disappears into development for a year. The lack of credible contenders is a problem as I too think Roderick Strong is bland. Who else has there been built up around the main event level lately? Not too many guys from what I've seen. I think it's time to really start pushing a few people who haven't been around the top of the card lately.

Not sure how they got along or anything but I think JBL is more likely to pick a smaller target anyway.</p>

If you're using AJ Styles as a barometer in this example, I think Bryan is at least as good a talker as him. He's not on a level with some of the other guys you mentioned, like Punk and Nigel/Desmond, but I think he's grown into a more than adequate talker over the past several years. He's like the anti-Low Ki, who I swear has regressed promo-wise. And he wasn't that good to being with.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'd have to agree on this one, maybe even go a step further. I think Danielson when he has a reason to talk is very good. He will occasionally stumble on something minor but that is a small drawback considering he can be believable, intense, bit of a smartypants jerk, humble etc. I actually rate him as above average overall in terms of promo ability.</p><p> </p><p> I have not seen much recent Nigel/Desmond Wolfe (wow, taking a name from withnail and I, sneaky) but I never remember his promos standing out that much. I probably need to check out his recent stuff.</p><p> </p><p> Low Ki is a pretty horrible promo and more than anything I think his voice detracts from that. I remember when I was a stupid 11 year old and my voice broke before everyone elses and I thought it made me a big man, I would walk around talking as low as I could and probably sounded like as big a retard as Low Ki. I would probably sell more in playfights too.</p><p> </p><p> I agree on Joe always sounding forced. I just get the impression that he isn't naturally a very threatening guy because well .... he's a big fat samoan dude and probably never has much cause to convince people he can beat them up. I think Joe is the kind of guy who should just shut up or get a manager or maybe be put in a tag team with someone who can talk.</p>
  8. Seriously, when are people going to stop blaming Husky for Percy's inability to lay still and take a senton like a man? I love Percy as much as the next guy, but that botch was totally his fault for half rolling onto his side instead of staying flat on his back. On an unrelated note I just saw the match of the year tonight at the Smackdown house show. Big Show defeated Drew McIntire in roughly 4 seconds.
  9. I am liking him more than Samoa Joe because Husky has a personality. A sleezy fat bully second generation personality. I like my wrestlers in all different shapes and sizes.
  10. The Embassy, particularly when Jimmy Rave was the crown jewel. Prince Nana was on top of his game being the most amusing manager around and Jimmy Rave was just a moody, surly little chicken**** who got more heat that just about anyone in RoH history and won a lot more than he deserved.
  11. You're too young to be listening to Motley Crue anyway Although I do hate it when someone blatantly copies something and there's a whole generation who don't pick up on the unoriginality. Oh and moonlit tears, guess that makes it 5 years. Man it's rough being 30. I am just the wrong mix of grumpy old man and immature penis-joke fanatic to ever really fit in anywhere.
  12. Yeah, you'll say that just after ranting about kids these days and complaining that the whole world is going to hell. I've been doing that since I was about 25.
  13. I think the answer was far better than such a stupid topic deserved and wish they gave him another 5 minutes to really expand on the topic. If you are going to waste TV time making a guy talk nonsense, might as well make it an epic trainwreck rather than a minor one. I get the feeling he was going to mention Burt Reynolds or Tom Selleck pretty soon, or maybe go into the history of the mustache in wrestling. Rick Rude, Blackjack Mulligan, etc etc. Just got around to seeing NXT this week. My boy Husky Harris getting a win over Kaval was good times indeed. I can't wait for the Husky Harris/Heath Slater tag team run. Book it!
  14. Haha that's just weird, I was wondering about that as I missed a few NXT's this season. What a stupid topic to give someone.
  15. Yeah, plus wasn't Rob Conway pretty much the poster boy for being kept in OVW long beyond he should have been due to not being a fit for the WWE style while musclehead lugnuts were brought into the main roster ahead of him?
  16. I did, believe me I am far from the smarky guy out to hate on everything since I freaking love wrestling and would rather enjoy something than bitch about it, but with the amount of talent TNA has they still somehow manage to be terrible and I'm not even sure how.
  17. That may be true, but in TNA's case probably not as confused as disappointed as I would be if I watched it regularly.
  18. ... why are any of the things that ever happen on TNA happening? I'm serious, I recently took my latest look at TNA which I do maybe every 3-6months just to make sure it hasn't gotten awesome when I wasn't paying attention and I just didn't know what the point of anything was.
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="crownsy" data-cite="crownsy" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Nope, I am as well.<p> </p><p> IT's just that Orton has become the IWC's new hate target to offset the Y2J worship.</p><p> </p><p> Somehow Cena's moved from hate target to "he sucks, but whatever" around the net while Orton has become the new "omfg what an awful worker" target.</p><p> </p><p> I suspect it's because Randy's a face now.</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Really? That's weird as I always thought Orton sucked until about six months ago when he finally got it all together. Man wrestling fans are a fickle bunch.</p><p> </p><p> I find it weird that Y2J is still being said long after anyone really cares to remember what Y2K was all about.</p>
  20. I'm not sure who are worse, the "we want everything even though we hate everything" IWC or the response to that which is "don't be a smark, watch some horrible crap and enjoy it otherwise you are an elitist douchebag".
  21. Wrestling machine is two words and poor for the Briscoes doesn't even come close to summing it up. I get your point about everyone being pretty generic these days and the basis of wrestling gimmicks being stereotypes. I wouldn't disagree with any of that. But I don't think The Miz performs that well. I think Jericho still does the ****y thing better by adding some humour, being a bit whiny, still being aggressive when he needs to be and delivering his promos more creatively. When Jericho talks there is still a chance I am going to hear something entertaining or unexpected. When The Miz talks I know all I am going to hear is pure bland as hell cookie-cutter current day WWE blather straight from the random promo generator that is the creative team. Now if The Miz jacked up the obnoxiousness like we all know a former reality TV guy must be able to do (those people are cast purely on their inability to pass for decent human beings), if he developed his vocabulary a bit more, if he got coked out of his mind and did some 1980s style ranting and raving, anything ... then I would probably change my mind. Fact is, I don't hate The Miz, I just think things have gotten pretty bad when people are using him as an example of the good stuff going on at the moment in the biggest wrestling company in the world. I mean, all it took for me to change my mind on Randy Orton was for him to stop botching everything and using 20 minutes of chinlocks in a 5 minute match and start kicking people right in the freaking head and suddenly I am sold. P.S. I absolutely hate Tyler Black.
  22. Most males don't own over a hundred pairs of shoes either. Remi is just unique.
  23. I'm just getting into Deadwood now and while not far into it, I think the dialogue so far is pretty good. If you think the language is too eloquent maybe you should check out the PBS documentary series "The West". If the historical letters etc are representative of at least the more educated people of the time, they had a far better way with words than people do these days.
  24. Don't get me started on Heath Slater. Dude is underrated in the ring and has the kind of weird charisma that completely goes over people's heads leaving them thinking he is just some bobbing ginger idiot when in actual fact he is a freaking genius who would blow your mind if it was open enough to fully appreciate the power of the Slater. The Miz started out as generic ****y who can't do anything, and has improved to generic ****y but able to do it better than most of the current roster and passable enough in the ring to where I don't want to see him crippled and forced to retire but it would be a stretch to say I enjoy anything he does. Also "I'm Awesome" is the worst catchphrase ever and makes him sound like some 14 year old gamer or something. Or maybe it's just the fact that as was said, the WWE is so predictable and homogenized at this point that I latch onto the NXT guys more as they are something new and that show had a much higher level of unpredictability due to nobody really planning ahead on it too much. P.S. I heard CM Punk is injured and out for a month or two? Man, seriously wondering if there is a reason to hold on to my early august Smackdown tickets now. The rest of that roster is pretty freakin thin.
  25. <p>Is awesome a new word for slightly above average but still pretty bland? <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> As much as The Miz has improved, he's still about #1072 on my list of favourite wrestlers. Right below Reno.</p>
