  1. Otunga fricken sucks and pushing a pansy like him as a monster would make me cry. He might have a decent look (but decent is about it) and some basic charisma but he is horrible in the ring and I could not buy him as a monster. Dude is Nathan Jones level in the ring and Jones was way more believable as a monster. WWE fans might be able to go for it but I am not the least bit concerned with anyone's enjoyment but my own so screw what they think.
  2. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="LoNdOn" data-cite="LoNdOn" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="25169" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>It is that kind of stuff that makes me miss the old school 1PW dance offs. Team S.H.A.G, Southern Comfort, AJ and Daniels, Storm & Fleisch. Good times.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> 1PW and old school in the same sentence? I feel a billion years old</p>
  3. See, I'm not even sure what Dolph's character is beyond being a guy who likes to bleach his hair and hang out with Vickie Guerrero. It's not that I hate him or anything so much as the current WWE system guys and the style they work does nothing for me. Does anyone remember that episode of The Simpsons when they were playing tag and it was all with zero effort because the drab school uniforms were robbing them of their youthful exuberance? "Now you are the one who is it" "Understood" That is how a lot of WWE matches feel to me these days when you get the super minimalist "less is more" WWE produced workers going at it. "Now you are the one who is being bodyslammed" "Understood, selling the lower back for approximately five seconds while you stand over me doing nothing" Compared to that Natalya is perfectly fine in my book. I can understand people not getting into her but she does something that looks like wrestling and looks like it may sometimes hurt which instantly puts her a step ahead of a lot of the guys in my opinion. Plus she puts in effort and is perfectly capable of having fun little matches with the divas which I imagine takes some skill.
  4. Eh, Dolph is wearing thin on me these days as are most of the current crop of WWE produced wrestlers. He's one of those guys who I think is pretty good until I actually sit down and watch a match and find myself wishing I was watching a Henry O. Godwinn match from 15 years ago or something instead.
  5. As always late to the punch but I've been too busy/tired to catch the Rumble until last night. Firstly, the first two matches each put me to sleep literally. I honestly think someone in the back is telling the wrestlers to do a move then stand/lie around doing nothing while they do a replay because the matches now are so slow and seem like a collection of moves rather than a match. I can't believe I used to whine about rest holds, in 2011 I would freaking kill for a rest hold over this nothingness. Oh Edge, what have you become? Natalya is a better wrestler than Miz or Dolph Ziggler. In fact, I think most of the men in WWE are so minimalistic now that the divas are outworking them by a pretty wide margin 80% of the time. I liked the Rumble, wasn't crazy about messing with tradition with 40 men but it was pretty good. I liked that the winner was a relatively new, was also a heel and a late entrant as it's a change from the few years there where babyfaces would run through the whole thing from the 1 or 2 spot. I liked Punk and Danielson pretty much tying the whole first half of the rumble together and that they both got a decently long run. The teamwork aspect with Nexus and Later Cena and Hornswaggle was a nice change of pace from all the every man for himself stuff and Husky Harris again proved why he is awesome, he looked like he wanted to hurt people which is a lost art in the WWE. He was probably my favourite guy on the whole show. Ted Dibiase Jr is so not-over that the crowd went silent when he showed up. Usually the fans get louder when a new entrant comes in, not quieter. I felt bad for him. The John Morrison outside the ring spot was cool as I've been waiting forever for someone to exploit the whole "both feet must touch the ground" rule in some kind of creative way. Diesel returning was cool but I was just waiting for one of his legs to snap. Booker T got a nice reaction but I am not particularly intereted in seeing him regularly. Overall the rumble match was pretty fun, the other matches were entirely forgettable.
  6. What grinds my gears is trying to book a location for a film shoot. First question you get is "what kind of film is it?" which is generally their way of asking "is this a porno?" Maybe I would have better luck if it was. Second they start being super inflexible, either turning us down outright or wanting us to book a location we need for one day for a freaking week. We ain't paying $600-$1200 for something we are going to use for no more than 12 hours and probably leave cleaner than when we got there. We aren't asking for anything for free, but it would be nice if they would at least meet us half way especially when it becomes obvious they have a space for rent which nobody else is going to book on a wednesday anyway so their crappy attitude is screwing us over and losing them money. Seriously, it's no wonder there is no flipping film industry in this town.
  7. I have to admit, even for the years I didn't regularly follow WWE (most of the late 2000s) I always watched the Rumble. I really would like to see something a little different happen in the rumble though. there haven't been any huge surprises and they have overused having early entrants win in recent years. I guess this 40 man thing is bit of a change but not sure I like the idea, I prefer to keep things the same.
  8. Scary thing is, he's actually straight but just plays gay. Is/was a comedian who did some wrestling in hustle. Not sure how he got away with using the name razor ramon and just adding hardgay to it though. Oh yeah, and that was his cover of a Village People song.
  9. Sort of but not really. They are lucha influenced (as they were founded by Super Delfin who was a pretty big part of Michinoku Pro) but their style is more lighthearted, they have a lot more masks and comedic/cutesy gimmicks and are probably not quite on the same level as Dragon Gate in terms of popularity. Also, Dragon Gate I would say focuses more on athleticism and at times has aimed for more the female/gay fanbase whereas Osaka seems a lot more family oriented.
  10. Don't be forgetting my boy Kintaro Kanemura. Also I liked the old school FMW when Onita was kicking it. You'd get the weirdest shows. Like a deathmatch main event but he undercard you'd have a women's match, a lucha match, a midgets match, maybe a worked shoot match between a wrestler and a judo guy and maybe a tag match with a couple of American wrestlers from the 80s in there or something. I think that kind of variety is what is really missing from wrestling these days.
  11. DDT is more if a weird entertainment promotion than lucharesu. They do have high flying but it isn't really the focus. The focus is the insanity/comedy/oddness. Michinoku Pro is probably a good example (though I have not seen much of their recent stuff, but back in the day they were a good example), and I would say that the original Toryumon before it became Dragon Gate was probably the lucharesuiest promotion ever and I feel deeply sorry for people who came in late when they had Jack Evans and people on their shows as that is when it started going downhill and the annoying ROH type fans started getting into it. Also, FMW flipping ruled.

Daniel Bryan's WWE work has been probably a good 80% getting beaten up and I remember a bunch of cool things about his matches. While Kofi is maybe the most obvious offender in my mind, a lot of the current WWE crew who aren't second generation or got their start somewhere else (ROH for example) seem like they have taken the "less is more" mantra to heart so much that they are in competition to do as little as possible until the announcer is all "trouble in paradise" and it's like oh wow, it's over ... What the heck just happened? Or maybe I just have the worst attention span in history but either way, this is weird.</p><p> </p><p> Oh and I am with you Self, sod the haters. Sheffield is the muscle with hustle and a bunch of other things that rhyme. I would rather watch him than pretty much anyone besides Bryan, Punk, Jericho and Husky Harris.</p>

I forgot all about him. he doesn't have much other than size.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Skip is better than people give him credit for. Either that or the rest of the roster bar a few guys are so boring he seems okay by comparison. </p><p> </p><p> Is there anyone else who just doesn't get Kofi Kingston in the ring? Fun character, nice enough entrance but as soon as his matches are over I cannot think of a single move, or spot or anything he did. It's like he gets in the ring and just moves around without doing anything then the match is over and nothing happened.</p><p> </p><p> I don't know, maybe I just don't get this new WWE wrestling. It's like they specialize in wrestling that isn't brawling, high-flying or mat work.</p>
  14. I know I am behind the times but this could not escape my attention. Brooklyn Brawler - The King of Old School
  15. <p>I'm assuming it's not in order but knowing WWE, you never can tell.</p><p> </p><p> I am not sure if there is anything people will disagree more on than a list.</p>

His obsession with high school football and the size of wrestlers (I watched an old Royal Rumble from the '90s and I lost count of how many guys were 6'6" 300lbs!). Overall he's the kind of guy fans respond well to but I'd be lying if I said there weren't moments when I thought he came off as bit of a jerk.</p>

Any thread?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I may be a zealot but I am not anti-capitalism, seriously ... why are you guys constantly trying to ascribe various viewpoints, beliefs and ideals to me? I just like sports where loyalty, hatred and rivalry play a larger role than in the current day NBA and by expressing this belief I supposedly support slavery, am some kind of dirty commie, am a racist etc etc? It really says more about you guys and your inability to tolerate those with different views from yourselves than it says about my beliefs on anything.</p><p> </p><p> Just because you are a go kart enthusiast who likes jigsaw puzzles is no reason to make up this kind of nonsense.</p>

Why else would you bring slavery into the discussion?</p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I agree, which is why Mr Hilton should not have brought slavery into the discussion. Do you feel this way about MLB,NFL, premier league fans, UFC PPV buyer's ect?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yes to videogame consumers, MLB, NFL, premier league. No to UFC unless they are wearing an Affliction or tapout shirt, in which case they are a yes. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Also I never said blargh. You however did randomly insert the word aping into the middle of a sentence then deleted it. Aping. For no reason at all. In a discussion about a sport primarily played by black males. Aping.</p>
  21. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="PeterHilton" data-cite="PeterHilton" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="27836" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>But the statement you made is exactly the kind of thing a racist a-hole here in the states would make. Also why did you remove the word "aping" from your previous post? It was because of racism wasn't it?</p>

I mean, it's bad enough the whole world is more accommodating to your wants than mine without being insulted on top of that.</p>
