  1. Monday, Week 1, January, 2015 http://www.targetcenter.com/assets/img/WWE_RAW_LIVE_DEC_2014_SPOTLIGHT-NEW.jpg The following contests are confirmed to take place on tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW: Non-Title: WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar versus Derrick Bateman The main event of tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW was announced earlier today via a tweet sent out from the Monday Night RAW General Manager Brad Maddox and will see the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar take on Derrick Bateman in non-title action. Brad Maddox said that as this is the first Monday Night RAW of the new year the WWE Universe will witness a main event that has never taken place before with Lesnar taking on Bateman for the very first time. Last week on RAW as Brock Lesnar was in the ring with his in-ring mentor Billy Gunn the pair were interrupted by Bateman, who came to the entrance-way and announced that his partner Andrade Cien Almas will challenge Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View later this month. An all-important victory for Derrick Bateman tonight could well lead to the momentum moving into the favor of his “One Percenters” partner Almas heading into the Universal Championship match at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View. Non-Title: WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Gable and Glorious versus Authors of Pain (Akam Dhinsa and Rezar Selmani) Last week on Monday Night RAW the team of Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, now known to the WWE Universe as “Gable and Glorious”, became the new WWE RAW Tag Team Champions as they defeated the former RAW Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre as well as the Authors of Pain pairing of Akam Dhinsa and Rezar Selmani in a Triple Threat Elimination tag team match. Tonight on RAW Roode and Gable will take on the Authors of Pain in a non-title match. Non-Title: WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose versus Zack Ryder Dean Ambrose ended 2014 on a high last week on Monday Night RAW as he defeated his former friend Seth Rollins to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion for the second time in his career. Tonight Ambrose will take on Zack Ryder in non-title competition. Non-Title: WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne versus Sugar Dunkerton The WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne defeated Sugar Dunkerton in quick time last week on Monday Night RAW and it was also announced that Dunne will be one of the participants in the men’s Royal Rumble match. Tonight on RAW Pete Dunne will face Dunkerton again in another non-title match. Royal Rumble Qualifying Match: Brodus Clay versus Killian Dain Two large men will go head to head tonight on Monday Night RAW as Brodus Clay will take on Killian Dain with a spot in the men’s Royal Rumble match on the line. With Superstars from Monday Night RAW, Friday Night SmackDown and 205 Live all looking to compete in the Royal Rumble match, places are limited but the winner of this match will be guaranteed a spot. Non-Title: WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey versus Raquel Diaz Finally, the WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will take on the daughter of the late, great WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero, Raquel Diaz, tonight on Monday Night RAW in a non-title match. Ronda Rousey was victorious against Rosa Mendes in her first ever match on RAW last week and will look to pick up another win here. Quick Picks: Non-Title: WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar versus Derrick Bateman Non-Title: WWE RAW Tag Team Champions Gable and Glorious versus Authors of Pain (Akam Dhinsa and Rezar Selmani) Non-Title: WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose versus Zack Ryder Non-Title: WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne versus Sugar Dunkerton Royal Rumble Qualifying Match: Brodus Clay versus Killian Dain Non-Title: WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey versus Raquel Diaz (Predictions are welcomed, there will be a prediction contest held every month.)

Summer Rae seemed off her game tonight in this women’s division pre-show match that went the distance. However, despite being off her game Summer Rae was still able to pick up the all-important victory here after forcing her opponent Nicole Matthews to tap out.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: E-</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Pre-Show: Xavier Woods and Richie Steamboat versus The Bludgeon Brothers (Rowan and Harper)</strong></p><p> In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Woods & Steamboat defeated The Bludgeon Brothers in 18:24 when Xavier Woods defeated Erick Rowan by pinfall with a Lost in the Woods. Xavier Woods has a dreadfully stale character, a change is really needed. It would appear that many members of the WWE Universe are bored with seeing Xavier Woods in his current persona. Nevertheless, Xavier Woods still picked up the win for his team here after pinning Erick Rowan.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: D</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Pre-Show: Damien Sandow versus Byron Saxton</strong></p><p> In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Damien Sandow defeated Byron Saxton in 18:08 by pinfall with a Terminus. AJ receives a great reception from the WWE Universe in attendance as he retrieves a microphone from the ringside area. AJ Styles says that just as he climbed a ladder to retain his title this past Sunday, AJ has climbed to the top of the WWE in just three months. AJ says that he is willing to put his WWE Championship on the line against any competitor from any corner of the globe, and that AJ looks forward to defending his WWE Championship against Colin Cassady in tonight’s main event. AJ says that Colin Cassady went crying to the Friday Night SmackDown General Manager Eva Marie begging for a title opportunity and AJ is willing to give Cassady the title shot tonight. Christian then comes to the entrance-way with a microphone of his own in hand. Christian says that he isn’t done with AJ Styles and will soon have one more match with AJ and Christian vows that 2015 will be the year that Christian becomes the new WWE Champion at AJ’s expense.</em></p><p> <strong>Rating: D+</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Becky Lynch © versus Asuka versus Carmella</strong></p><p> In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Asuka defeated Becky Lynch and Carmella in 8:27 when Asuka defeated Carmella by submission with a Passion Clutch. Asuka wins the WWE SmackDown Women's title. Becky Lynch seemed off her game tonight which led to Becky losing her title tonight as Asuka threw Becky to the outside of the ring before forcing Carmella to tap out as Asuka becomes the new WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion for the very first time.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: D-</strong></p><p> </p><p> <em>As Asuka celebrates her title win in front of the WWE Universe a disappointed Carmella and a distraught looking Becky Lynch make their way to the back. Paige then looks to hit Asuka with the microphone but Asuka ducks and Paige quickly flees the ring. Robbie Brookside accompanied his clients, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Antonio Cesaro, known to the WWE Universe as The Bar, to ringside for this match and watched as Sheamus hit Titus O’Neil with the Brogue Kick before pinning O’Neil to pick up the win for his team.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: C</strong></p><p> </p><p> <em>We cut backstage to find Colin Cassady in the office of the Friday Night SmackDown General Manager Eva Marie. This past Sunday at the TLC Pay-Per-View AJ Styles defeated Christian in a Ladder match to make his third successful title defence since winning the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal in a Hell in a Cell match back in October. We also saw Colin Cassady burst into the office of the SmackDown General Manager Eva Marie this past Sunday and demand the next shot at the WWE Championship, to which Eva Marie promptly ordered Colin Cassady to leave her office. However, AJ Styles, as well as being the “Franchise Player” of Friday Night SmackDown, is a fighting WWE Champion and has agreed to put his title on the line tonight for the fourth time in just three weeks. TJ Perkins seemed off his game tonight in this pre-show match that went the distance against the masked Kalisto. It would appear that Kalisto has the greater physical conditioning and seemed to have the number of TJ Perkins tonight. Kalisto picks up the all-important victory here after hitting his Rising Sun finishing maneuver.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: D-</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Pre-Show: Cedric Alexander versus Epico</strong></p><p> In a bout that had solid in-ring action but not much in the way of heat, Cedric Alexander defeated Epico in 17:50 by pinfall with a Spear. The small man dressed in a bull costume, El Torito, accompanied his handler and former WWE Tag Team Champion Epico to ringside for this match. El Torito acted “Emotionless” at ringside as he just stood still watching the match. Perhaps the lack of encouragement was what led to Epico failing to get the win here as the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander pins Epico following a Spear to get the victory.</p><p> <strong>Match Rating: D-</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <em>Tonight’s edition of 205 Live begins with the 205 Live commentary team of Scott Stanford, former Cruiserweight Champion Billy Kidman and the 205 Live General Manager John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcoming the television audience to the show. Scott Stanford thanks the WWE Universe for their thoughts and well wishes following his assault at the hands of Big Show this past Sunday at the TLC Pay-Per-View. JBL then announces that tonight’s main event will see the WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy taking on Rich Swann in non-title action. The Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy then comes to the ring which prompts some members of the WWE Universe at ringside to hold their noses indicating that Murphy smells bad. Buddy Murphy takes a microphone from the ringside area and says that this past Sunday at the TLC Pay-Per-View he beat both Cedric Alexander and Rey Mysterio in a Triple Threat match to successfully retain his WWE Cruiserweight Championship for the first time. Murphy says that he doesn’t care what anybody thinks about him, and that the WWE Universe may feel that Murphy looks like a “Bum” but Murphy is just showing off his Australian hairstyle. Buddy Murphy says that the masked loser Rey Mysterio will likely never show his face on 205 Live now that he has failed to win the Cruiserweight Championship from the greatest cruiserweight in the world, Buddy Murphy. The Cruiserweight Champion continues by saying that last week on 205 Live he won the main event tag team match to drive Chad Gable out of 205 Live and that tonight he will once again defeat Rich Swann. Cedric Alexander then joins Murphy in the ring and retrieves a microphone of his own from ringside. Cedric says that people don’t call Murphy a “bum” because of his long hair; they call him that because he smells like a public toilet. Cedric Alexander then announces that he spoke to JBL earlier today and at the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View next month Cedric will challenge Murphy for the Cruiserweight Championship in a one-on-one match. Murphy holds his title high above his head before leaving the ring and heading to the bac as 205 Live heads to its first commercial break of the evening.</em></p><p> <strong>Rating: E</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Chris Jericho versus Chavo Guerrero</strong></p><p> In a match that had some good action and average heat, Chris Jericho defeated Chavo Guerrero in 7:34 by pinfall with a Code Breaker.
