  1. I looked at it like this: WWF to TNA to WWE - so "multiple" was the wrong word to use even though it seemed like he had jumped more than that.
  2. At first I didn't really agree with your "age is never an issue" statement because I feel Batista is just one of the few examples of a 30+ year old guy making it in the wrestling business. But then I had to look at it in TEW "terms"... I just signed Rocky Golden away from CGC in 2020 and he's 37 years old. Obviously past his prime and who knows how many "good" years left. I understood what you meant after looking it like that. TEW makes everything so clear sometimes.
  3. I didn't say you had a "thing", just a "voice person". It's like someone calling me a "computer person" because I've spent 10+ years doing everything and anything with computers. On a related note to your Cena example - I absolutely hate Sheamus, but I found out a few months ago that before he became a full-time wrestler he worked as an IT technician. I thought that was cool.
  4. I didn't say he was a rapper or that's what I want. But it sure as hell is what WWE wants - simple and effective. You guys already discussed why Killings shouldn't be the black star they push to the moon (the consensus was Kofi) because he's 35+ years old. Someone said MVP is a midcarder for life, but I think Truth is a midcarder for life as well. As long as he keeps getting fans to pop and jump out of their seats he's doing the job they're paying him to do.
  5. I just read through the past few pages and a few things that stuck out to me: Linsolv is a voice person and the lack of responses after his (revealing) post made me laugh. But seriously, I'm an Orton fan as well. I thought he was the absolute coolest person when he was doing his RNN Reports when he hurt his shoulder in 2002. The Legend Killer gimmick was by far the coolest gimmick WWE had done in the past 10 years. On the discussion of Killings changing up music, attire, or anything... why the heck should or would he? He's getting an incredible (cheap) reaction from every city WWE goes to. The "what's up?" is so easy that a two year old can catch on. He just picked up a championship and WWE is proving that they don't hold anything against workers who have jumped between WWE and TNA multiple times (like Killings has). Whether or not it's a stereotype is irrelevant. Butts are in the seats at their events and when Truth's music hits... those butts are out of their seats chanting, "WHAT'S UP?!" He's the very definition of a popular midcarder. I wouldn't change a thing about the guy.
  6. I agree completely. Aside from his big build and overall look he didn't have the complete in-ring skills or the entertainment skills. But I also think that with his age if he had stuck with it and gave it 100% he could have been a huge star. It's disappointing we'll never know because his look just grabbed your attention and made you think, "whoa... whose that guy?"
  7. Bobby Lashley was going to be the guy for years to come in WWE. He had to turn into a Brock Lesnar and think he was better than wrestling though. He was getting such a big push back in the day. Anytime you get an opportunity to feud with McMahon like Austin did, you should cherish and make the best of it. Lashley has no idea how big he could have been. I wanted him to win MITB back at WM22 when RVD won it... I was marking out hard for him back then.
  8. I could go all day. Rey Mysterio is a Mexican-American. Why do you think Jack Swagger is an American-American?
  9. The way I saw it with Kofi is he's from Africa but where does he work and live for the majority of the year? I'd consider him an American. My logic is odd though.
  10. Are you talking about the stories of WWE wanting to have a major African-American star?
  11. It can end in one play in OT if you're the first team. They can scoop up a fumble and run it for a TD. They can get an INT and run it back for a TD. That's why it's important to win the coin toss in both college and the NFL. Being able to select offense/defense in college OT can be the deciding factor, much like the receiving team has the edge in the NFL. The point I was trying to make out of all of this was that college OT will never leave you hanging (tie) and a team will never feel screwed because the opportunities are equal. Why do I say it's equal even though the team who plays defense first has the 'advantage'? Because ultimately it comes down to home field advantage vs away team getting the chance to win the coin toss. Some parts of the OT aren't fair but when you look at it as a whole it is. My injury while playing football was relevant to the discussion because you asked me, "do you know what 'one play' means?" It was my example showing you that I do know what it means. Oh, you think because I said "American football" that I don't know what sports are popular around the world? I'm just the average dumb American who thinks our sports rule everything? I guess the fact there's a World Cup wouldn't give it away or the fact my best friend played soccer throughout high school and I picked up more about it than I ever wanted to. Yes, I know it's the most played sport in every part of the world. But do you know why? Because soccer balls are extremely inexpensive and you don't even need equipment OR shoes to play it. I remember watching a segment on ESPN and these people were sending soccer balls to third-world countries for all the people, but mostly the children. They don't have any money but they can play soccer. Hooray! Overall - you come across as extremely arrogant in your responses and consider our discussion over.
  12. Just watched the Danielson segment on WWE.com (because I don't watch NXT) and it was really cool. I thought the stuff on top of the stage with Miz was awesome. The crowd was really into it.
  13. I'll take any news I get from Yahoo with a shot of penicillin. It's all opinion. So there are examples of games going on forever because of college OT, so what? That doesn't happen every single time a game goes into OT. Most of them end by the third OT because of the 2-pt conversion rule. The way I see it... if they go on forever like that it's because the two teams were evenly matched.
  14. Indeed I know what one play is. It took just one play for me to screw my back up for the rest of my life - see spondylolisthesis. I had to get back surgery (spinal fusion) my junior year of high school because of it. I'd rather not be lectured on "what football is" - I played it for enough years to understand it. Thanks. At first I didn't get what you meant by "glorified penalty kick". You were making a reference to a sport (soccer) that has absolutely no purpose in an American football thread. I look at college OT more like the NHL shootout - it goes until there's a winner, no ties. That's a problem I had with the NFL OT because even though it maybe only happened once a year... there's always a chance for a tie. And there shouldn't be any ties in the game of football.
  15. Don't worry, buddy. You're not the only one.
  16. And in college OT you're not one play away from losing it all? An INT or fumble gives the other team the ball and they can kick a FG and win it. At least the losing team had the opportunity to do something. Strategy plays a big part into college OT. The team going second has an unfair advantage? The team who wins the coin toss in the NFL has an unfair advantage. What is "real football" to you? I always thought it was on a football field with 22 guys who had pads and helmets on who are tearing each other apart. College OT sure looks like football to me. Glorified penalty kick contest? Give me a break. That's ridiculous.
  17. Tom Coughlin... though he had been in the NFL and then went back to BC before going back to the NFL. I guess it doesn't count, but he was still a college coach longer than he had been in the NFL. By the way, I said it was "way out in left field"... at least quote me correctly.
  18. Wait a second... so you don't like to see scoring in football, huh? You think college OT is a joke and you dislike it because more points are scored? I like seeing TDs and awesome offensive/defensive plays. College OT is one of the most exciting ways to end a tie. I've never seen a college OT that I didn't enjoy. Any examples of college games turning into 120 point shootouts? I didn't say he was a great coach or a defense genius. I just think your prediction is way out out in left field when we haven't even seen one game yet. Do I think they're going to the Super Bowl? No. Do I think they have a legitimate chance to be a contender in the NFC West? Yes, I do.
  19. How is it a joke? You end up playing continuous OT until there's a winner. In the NFL we get maybe a few good passes and a FG for the win - the losing team feels screwed because they may or may not have had an opportunity to score. In college everyone has a chance and the defense has to play harder than they have the entire game. When you start at the 25 yard line and have to score within the Red Zone - where defenses play their BEST - how is that a joke? Please elaborate. Defense wins championships in the NFL, but offenses win championships in NCAA. That's a pretty bold prediction about Carroll considering the season is months and months away. The division he's in is crap, he had a good draft, he's a defensive-minded coach, and he walked into the PERFECT SITUATION. If he's gone after three seasons I'd be surprised because the entire Seahawks staff would be gone as well... considering the franchise is practically starting fresh this year with a new GM and coaching staff.
  20. I think the one foot is good because it's one of those things they have to adapt to. Most of them try and get two feet nowadays anyway.
  21. I had to throw this in a more football appropriate thread so that it doesn't take up the basketball thread. It made sense. I think the rule changes between the two games make it really interesting. College OT is awesome and nobody can deny that. It also makes it so that when players come into the NFL they have to adapt completely and that includes rule changes. I think college football is made to be more "fun" if that makes any sense. It has more leeway than the NFL does and that's why you see so many coaches staying in the college ranks instead of moving to the NFL teams. Besides Pete Carroll who is going into a perfect situation - an entire new staff including GM makes a completely fresh start. That doesn't happen often.
  22. The only basketball I've been able to watch was back in HS and when I played it growing up I disliked it. There is a significant difference in fouls called between HS, College and Pro basketball that I don't understand. Keep in mind I've never watched a full NBA game. It's my least favorite sport besides baseball. Why did I post in this thread? To post my anti-NBA opinion that nobody will care about.
  23. I love King ribbing him, "maybe you should see a therapist" or whatever it was he said.
