  1. I'm not judging her for it, she's knows the guy better than I do, obviously. I was pointing out the outside perspective that after how she went from a tumultuous relationship with del Rio, a man now infamous for his legal problems and temper, to another guy with legal problems and a temper. That's a pattern I saw a lot as a kid with family members who had a lot of rough relationships. I'm not denying people can change. The closest friend I had while training had past drug and legal issues and he was a far better person than the literal preacher in the same class. I'm doubtful Ronnie Radke has changed based on how the only time I see Falling in Reverse mentioned anywhere it's because he caused another scene. That's my opinion on him. That's not a judgment on you or your enjoyment of Falling in Reverse. Heck, I enjoy black metal and that genre embodies "problematic fave" to the point that I now do research on bands before listening to them just to be safe.
  2. Fair enough. I am prone to being a cynic about these kinds of things.
  3. Anyone else concerned that she'll actually be able to stay clean while potentially wrestling again? I mean, Tony's clearly on something going by how jittery and hyper he is at press conferences. Not to mention that her current boyfriend has a rap sheet longer than del Rio's, the accessory to murder charge that somehow got downgraded to a battery conviction springs to mind. And if she does wind up wrestling, that'll be two people with potentially life risking damage to their spines (I'm still not convinced Danielson actually should be wrestling) working for AEW full time. This feels like hiring Scott Hall to work a tour with a promotion that runs exclusively in bars.
  4. The hate for AEW's women's division in general is excessive. Is it weaker than what some other promotions have? Yeah. Has the booking been consistently lazy for a good long while now? Yeah. But people keep treating everything as "proof" that AEW should dump its women's division entirely when all they need is someone who cares to book it, preferably one not named Khan or Rhodes. Anyone remember when Russo and, later on, Bischoff, booked TNA's X-Division into the ground and people were calling for them to scrap the whole division? Remember when ABYSS was X-Division champ? Bad booking can be fixed by other things than writing off an entire portion of the roster. Also, in a half-defense of Stokley as meandering as that promo was I still understood the general point he was trying to get across. I'm still trying to figure out what Marina's was. That doesn't mean she can't improve by leaps and bounds. I invite everyone to check out Eddie Guerrero's promos in WCW before he turned heel or He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named's awful promo before his match with Raven at Starrcade 97.
  5. I wrestled and managed around Northeast Tennessee, didn't last long though. Probably not even a year total if you don't count the time I left and came back. I had a serious attitude problem back then that didn't do me any favors. I believe the one name I got to stick past a couple of shows was Mike Magnum so there might be a School of Morton video or two of my shoddy wrestling floating around still if you feel like torturing yourself lol. If you really want to do give the business a try without actually wrestling, I would suggest looking to see if anyone is willing to train you as a ref. Good refs are few and far between so even decent ones are always in demand. And to keep from going too far off topic, I know he's just a celebrity guest and all who's there to get more eyes on Hook and the product in general, but Action Bronson bragging about going to the effort to train at Create-A-Pro yet had it put in his contract with AEW that he doesn't have to bump rubs me the wrong way.
  6. I actually almost put in a bit at the end sympathizing with her because I myself cut a ton of bad promos when I tried to wrestle so I know how hard it is to improv a promo in front of a tiny crowd, much less an AEW-sized one. She can totally recover, but I worry she'll try to double down on what's not working instead of moving on. Owen's a great example of that. He'd trip up, brush himself off and try again next time like nothing happened.
  7. I know, right? Marina lures you in with a promo that seems like it's going somewhere at first before she loses the plot and, instead of wrapping it up, goes ballistic for no reason at all screaming "YOU DON'T KNOW ME" after spending the whole promo talking about how everyone knows her. Meanwhile, poor Vickie's standing in the corner doing her absolute best to hide how embarrassing the whole segment is.
  8. Her promo was so bad that she managed the feat of sharing the ring with Vickie Guerrero yet still be the worst one on the mic.
  9. Honestly, I look at the Impact of today as a separate company from the TNA that repeatedly broke my heart as a kid. I think they're much better off where they are now as a stable alternative to the big boys and they don't need to be competing with WWE or AEW to be successful at that.
  10. A friend showed me Jun Kasai vs El Desperado from this past Monday and I highly recommend it to anyone who has the stomach for deathmatch wrestling. Matches like that are a fantastic example of how deathmatches can have real psychology and drama on display when good workers are involved.
  11. I believe you're looking for a different thread: https://forum.greydogsoftware.com/topic/48560-custom-graphics-request-thread/
  12. And TNA did such great ratings doing that didn't they? I don't even get the channel they're on these days. At what point did I suggest that Pure Rules was a good main event choice to get anyone's attention but for people like me who only watch Dynamite maybe twice a month? My point was that nobody on this planet cares that much about Chris Jericho in 2022 to watch him look like a sad panda for two seconds before they go to black. There is no way that he and Danielson with their feud that has all the heat of a freezer moved the ratings that significantly. I would also point out that ten years ago, plenty of people were calling Danielson bad for ratings. AEW tried something different since Punk and the Elite screwed the original plan and the experiment didn't work, boo hoo. I'd rather they try something different on occasion instead of getting into a main event rut like 99% of wrestling does. Besides, last time I checked AEW had a pretty shallow main event pool that only got more shallow after All Out.
  13. "Quick! Flip back to Dynamite, Danielson is putting the ROH Pure belt on Garcia and that made Jericho a sad panda!" Yeah, I'm totally sure people flipped back to see what can barely be called an angle and not just people looking to watch BattleBots turning on TBS at the end of the main event. I'm not dunking on Yuta/Garcia because that was a legit good match, just the inane notion that people would flip back just to see a sad old man doing his best to look young again staring at the ring for five seconds.
  14. Why not both? Jericho can be the adult in the room and also have an ego bigger than the moon because he's surrounded backstage by wrestlers who grew up watching him and worship the ground he walks on. Look no further than his pretentious rant about his hatred of the word "botch".
  15. Jun Akiyama - Being the reliable elder statesman of puro that Mutoh pretends to be since (at least) 2015.
  16. That is true, but at this rate I worry she'll wind up stagnating without enough ring experience and she'll wind up the biggest "what-if" since Sean O'Haire.
  17. Did you notice how I shut up after people pointed out the ROH reasoning? Almost like I realized they had a point well before you said anything. Anyways, regarding the Jade Cargill discussion: I believe I said this a few months ago, but she would benefit from a year or two working around the indies. If I were booking things, I'd have her "go rogue", declare the "Jade Cargill World Tour" or something along those lines and start defending the TBS title for various promotions across the world in "unsanctioned matches" to get her experience working matches where she isn't always booked to dominate while avoiding the concern of her looking weak on TV.
  18. Wrestle Universe definitely sounds appealing. Love what I've watched of DDT over the years, but I could never justify the sub for one promotion so throwing NOAH in there definitely helps. Yes, I am that much out of the loop that I didn't know DDT and Noah had the same parent company until today lol.
  19. Because FTR are pros who do their jobs and don't cause drama backstage or on social media so Tony can't play off of any backstage heat between them and Swerve in Our Glory. I mean, what is he supposed to do, book a normal wrestling feud that plays out on weekly television? But that's soooooo boring! How are the dirtsheets supposed to speculate on the locker room situation between the teams? How are wrestling fans supposed to get investing a storyline about two good tag teams wrestling each other? There's nothing REAL WRESTLING FANS(tm) hate more than straight pro wrestling!
  20. I cannot stress enough the insane jealousy I feel towards your ability that something that great looking is your definition of "close enough"! I'd sell my soul for a tenth of that skill if I hadn't already sold it for a donut.
  21. So watch GLEAT has made me want to get back into puro and other wrestling outside the big boys in the US. I seriously lapsed in my wrestling fandom back in 2019-ish so I'm super out of touch with current trends and my crappy attention span makes sticking with one promotion for a long period of time kind of difficult. Are there any good "all-in-one" choices for legal (I feel like I shouldn't need to make this part clear, but just in case) streaming sites when it comes to wrestling?
  22. People involved in a brawl with lawsuits in the works twisting the truth to make themselves out to be total innocents? Good heavens, I certainly hope The Good and Honourable Ser Brooks, Lord of All Chicago, will provide us with the pure and absolute truth as he is wont to do. Or not, because it would create drama that boosts ratings? I honestly can't tell if people want AEW to be TMZ Wrestling or not. One minute everyone's cheering for the wildfire to rage on because "it's got us more interested than we've ever been!" but when fire spreads to a nearby town and kills everyone, the onlookers are mad because nobody put out the fire.
  23. Out of everything from that, Kenny Omega trying to save the dog while his friends get pummeled is one thing I feel we can all agree is totally in character for him.
