1. As well they should, CVE didn't get enough of a proper shake at TNA and I've no idea why

3. The people who make re-renders already pretty much don't take requests and just go at their leisure. We've heard talk of it "being disrespect to the original render artist" when people ask for re-renders, which first starting happening when some people weren't happy with "the Australia renders" back all the way in TEW10 and it basically carried forward from there. The people who make alts surely know they wouldn't ever get paid for it, and I say that as someone has made alts in the past and probably will in the future. An alt is typically a minor edit done in less than half an hour and doesn't take much thought. Also, Alts are open results, people only do them if they feel like doing them and no specific person is expected to fulfil requests. Mod makers would never ask for money unless it was some kind of donation system like a Patreon, and even then I really don't foresee that ever becoming a thing on GDS. The mods here tend to be passion projects. Mod makers tend not to ask for money unless the mod becomes something they no long really care about but are willing to keep doing if the fans insist on keeping it alive. Kam is only suggesting charges for specific requests/commissions but will continue to make logos free of charge that are of Kam's own interest. This is only specific requests, which for someone at Kam's level means putting as much work in as coming up with an IRL brand, which you won't get for free anywhere. Coming up with a total brand concept can take hours and hours and hours, especially if someone else's vision and not your own. To make a good logo, it takes all the skills of a good graphic designer, and if you're good enough graphic designer to make good logos, you're normally off making them for money, not for free. Graphic design is notorious for having customers who don't want to pay for services. "F*** you, pay me!" is the common refrain of any website/community dedicated to graphic design, and I'm a member of several. If the choice is between paid commissions and no commissions at all, I'd prefer the option to request someone create me a commission which I'll pay them for. Paid commissions are not usual for busy artists, anyone who uses sites like Deviantart would be familiar with that. Once an artist gets to a certain level, they can't just take commissions on no conditions or they'll just keep getting an endless stream of requests. If you've only got limited time, either you just make the stuff you want to make, or you make stuff other people want to see but are compensated for that. This is also all voluntary; no one else is forced to do paid commissions just because Kam is, and even if they did decide to try taking paid commissions, they might be in for a shock about the uptake. Everyone who is happy to make requests but once a monetary value is placed on them, it gets a lot quieter. Again, it's the same deal on Deviantart and other sites that host art. I make mods outside of GDS. I was a Dev of a major, well-known mod for Crusader Kings 2. I also have a small hand in one of the best-known mods for Hearts of Iron 4. For stuff like that, I wouldn't ever expect to be paid. Primary because you're making what you want to make, and not being forced to make someone else's vision. When you make what you feel like making, it's not a chore. Graphic design commissions are very different because you might actually hate the concept in-of-itself, but you still might be willing to do if you were at least compensated for it, even if it feels like a bit of a chore. I'll give an example of another community I'm part of that involves graphic design: Heraldry. http://www.reddit.com/r/heraldry/ is a subreddit dedicated to people making and showing off Coats of Arms. The vast majority of people do it for free. However, those who are really good at it offer paid commissions. People often take them up on this offer. Paid commissions had no real effect on any other aspect of the community. People continued to make free content and there was no dent in the amount of free content made. Everyone didn't suddenly which to a paid model. And, what's more, typically the people who paid for graphic design commissions often share the end result anyway, so everyone gets the benefit of the commissions. So the community is still reaping the rewards. So yeah, I really wouldn't get too worried about a chain reaction just because one singular artist on GDS is offering paid commissions. Edit: There were a few replies while I was writing this up, just for context.
4. I'm quite particular to these alts by Iceisle of a JSliver re-render:
5. Human Arsenal here is, in my view, the best of what you've posted so far. The lighting is really good and his eyes look alive/human, helped by the fact he's looking straight at the viewer. The facial hair is good as well because it's look shaggy whereas sometimes facial hair in renders can look "painted on". Really like Doc Hammond here Just some constructive criticism: You might just need to be careful with some of your lighting: With Bart Biggins here one side of his face/body is so much more darker than the other, it's like he has two tones of skin rather than it looking like shadow. A more gradual blending of the two sides of his face would make it look more natural. Chris Flynn looks really good but the angle of the shot makes his head look somewhat small, but that might just be me.
6. The Hype and Mr Supreme (Dennis Butler) are two highly touted American wrestlers during the 90s. Mr Supreme is a main eventer for SWF while the Hype is a rookie with all the tools to immediately go to the top. Mr Supreme's bio makes clear he has a drinking problem while the Hype's bio is even starker, suggesting suffered trauma as a child, has a drinking problem and has OD'ed in the past. Neither character is part of the "true canon" of C-Verse workers that begin in TEW05/TEW07 Thus, the heavily implication is that both the Hype and Dennis Butler/Mr Supreme are dead in the ground by 2005. The specific circumstances of their deaths is left to the imagination of the readers, but it's would be pretty straightforward to take it that their addictions get the better of them.
7. Just one minor tiny thing to point out with this version: It's a common misconception in America to associate "lucky 4 leaf clovers" with the Irish/Irish-Americans because of the phrase "luck of the Irish". The plant symbol normally/traditionally associated with Ireland though is the 3 leafed shamrock, going back to an old tale about St Patrick supposedly using the 3 leaf shamrock to explain the concept of the Christian trinity. This is the shape we're talking about: We can see the Boston Celtics correctly using the three leaf shamrock on their uniforms here:

9. I see Magnum can afford a pretty good hair stylist since the hit single 😏
10. "Alt" requests are highly encouraged over in the alt thread but re-render requests are generally frowned up
11. I'd definitely be interested to see what two-tones lines on the skills section would look like, because just as with tormyb, I do sometimes find my eyes getting lost when peering into that section of the screen.
12. I mean in the case of EMLL one can perhaps mentally justify it by imagining it's to make the product more accessible for a potential English speaking audience in an effort to expand internationally.
13. I got ya bud It's from one of the versions of that 70s mod
14. I'm finding in some cases that the products simply don't convert at all and I'm having to redo quite a lof of the companies in data. There's a lot of defaulting to "classic balanced" going on.
15. By default, the economy of the US in C-Verse 20 is set to start off low and rising. The bigger companies who are affected by the state of the wrestling world take a hit off that. Companies not as affected by the state of the game world like PSW are able to keep their head above water better than the likes of TCW.
16. If you happen to be working with the files anyway, is there any chance you could create a version of the banner with the minor alteration of it saying "Cleveland Live Action Wrestling" instead of Chicago? A small company I have in C-Verse 2001 could use a logo but the City of Chicago is a little grand for the smaller vibe of the promotion. Edit: Or maybe Cincinnati would be better? "Cincinnati Live Action Wrestling" is a mouthful but since the NFL is apparently now canon in the C-Verse maybe "CLAW" could be a quiet nod to the Cincinnati Bengals? Idk I'm spitballing here.
17. Well now, that's a little easier on the eyes. Not trying to stir anything up with this following comment, but I have been wondering why GDS didn't reach out to some of the graphic designers that are regulars in the community for some input into the look of TEW20 before they put out the demo. For example, just looking through the files now, I don't know why files like website_modern went out in their current versions. The white is in too high contrast to the background, to the point of being jarring. And If I'm being honest and not just avoiding mentioning something fo the sake of politeness, there was at least one previous version of the game where a community member came up with a skin that was much better than the default one, and that could end up being the case again this time around. The fact the skin chooser doesn't work by default is also somewhat of a bumble. I get that they probably have an in-house person who did the graphics, I'm not disrespecting that person, but in the same way that there were people who tested the games mechanics to make sure the coders got everything right, there would have been no harm in showing a preview of the graphics to other people just to see what their take is.
18.
I'm afraid I also have to echo what many are saying about the UI in comparison to TEW16.

It's not an exaggeration or being dramatic, I also find myself getting a headache from looking at this version of the game, and I basically never get headaches. I had to turn off the coloured text. The font size is, as many are saying, very small on modern resolutions.

I'm also not a fan of the fact that grades are no longer an option despite the fact that in previous versions of the game the user had the option to pick either numbers or grades. I personally was ALWAYS a grades person and preferred the idea that it wasn't possible to know exactly to an inch how good someone was, just roughly. But I also preferred how that looked visually.

19. If the C-Verse 77 mod returns for TEW2020, you'll be able to do just that
20. I would also describe the Thunderverse as more "saturated" than the C-Verse, both in a literal, visual sense (because of jhd's colourful renders and logos) but also in the way the promotions and characters are written) A good comparison is the C-Verse's PSW in contrast with that of PWSUX. Both are regional hardcore companies in the North East of the US. PSW, for me, had a lot of flat, two-dimensional characters that weren't all that fun: The Idaho Punisher, an broken down Wolverine, Primal Rage, Honest Frank, guys like that. This may or may not be by design, as PSW in the C-Verse represents/parallels the hardcore companies IRL that came after ECW but absolutely did not recapture their spark. PSW is/was a company chasing DAVE's spark and didn't ignite. PWSUX, on the other hand, is filled with characters who are on an upswing, not a downswing, and who are just waiting for their potential to be unlocked. There's a sense these guys' best days could still be ahead of them. But more than that, the bios and renders are well done and they feel very fleshed out as characters. But that's just one promotion, there are many others where that's the case. CWT is technically a Thunderverse promotion on somewhat of a downswing, but it still has the charm of being a Memphis style promotion that somehow exists in the modern era, and you get all the fun of doing a throwback Memphis style of wrestling. And once again, the characters are very fun and fleshed out. And really that's the theme across the board, just that jhd and his crew did a really good job with the characters and promotions. My only criticism is that sometimes they went a little overbroad with mirroring the real world. tHURTteen is, without question, Sabu. The Brooklyn Punk is, without question, Bully Ray. There's a New Jack character in there, etc etc. I think the team showed they were completely capable of coming up with really good original characters so I feel, just personally, they didn't need to go so close to home with those guys. The C-Verse is a good world, and it has been greatly enhanced by additions over the years such as C-Verse 77 and C-Verse 97 which really helped fleshed it out. Thunderverse has a different vibe to it though, all the things I said above but also perhaps an added sense of urgency and energy because so many of the promotions in the game have TV deals and there's so much jumping from ship to ship by the wrestlers. Definitely a lot of fun and if you're into fictional modes, you can't not play it once you've had a few runs in the C-Verse.
21. Given that Ryland never seemed particularly enamoured with Hardcore Wrestling (IRL he wasn't that big a fan of ECW), I could see him scrapping PSW given that Hardcore wrestling isn't so much a thing IRL outside of Game Changer Wrestling. If i recall right when I asked him years ago why did he scrap DAVE despite it popularity with the fanbase (a DAVE diary was the most popular diary here on the forums in the 08/09 era) he said it was him making a bit of a statement on, in his mind, the inevitability of promotions like ECW collapsing and not ever making it to a stable level. So given he scrapped DAVE on that reality-based viewpoint, I could see him scrapping PSW and saying it was a victim of changing tastes in wrestling.
