1. I never thought Seahawks didn't have talent. I actually picked Seahawks as a darkhorse to win the West once I new Leinart wasnt working out for sure in Arizona. I just expected more out of my niners.

9ers will still be a good team. Manning and the colts laid a goose egg doesn't mean they'll suck all season

  2. The only thing we know is my 49ers still suck a fat one indeed

people always seem to forget that Seahawks aren't a team with no talent. Injuries and Coaching changes have affected them over the last three years.

They still have a good amount of talent on this team and with the draft they had this year I expect them and the 9ers to compete for the West.

  3. I work for an affiliate, KPLR CW 11 out of St. Louis but that being said in July we send representatives to Burbank and then to L.A for screenings of upcoming television shows. We don't have any say in them but its so we can be better prepared for advertising and marketing in our areas. Usually its one to three episodes depending on if its viewed as our next big franchise (Vampire Diaries) or something we needed to put on to fill a slot (Nik...er I mean nothing we're not a filler kind of company :D )

I was upset that they took Reaper away as well as Privileged I thought both of those were home runs. Privileged moved to slow, had too little conflict and not enough strong, likeable female characters and Reaper didn't reach our desired audience the way we had hoped it would.

I loved reaper sok was my favorite

  4. As will I.

Have you ever seen the original?

yeah, I thought it was raw and I just don't feel CW will be able to match that

I work for the CW and although I'm not supposed to really say this.....I'll just say your expectations are about where they should be. Even the people in network really aren't as well they just you know. That being said its not horrible and it should be an interesting aspect to our rather one sided view on being a chick station. There will be more ass kicking in this show. That being said one show if you like chick shows everybody should take a look at is Hellcats I've seen it and can say its a fun show.

I wanna watch hellcats for the chicks lmao

  5. I think if the Packers are pinning their future hopes on Bulaga, they're going to be disappointed. He's a guard, not a tackle. His arms are way too short to split out wide. Arm length is an issue with the end of the interior line because you have to be able to reach block when you're facing the likes of Julius Peppers and rushers with speed AND power (see Ware, DeMarcus). And what happens when he has to block Suh on a stunt? One of the reasons some alltime greats were such (Bruce Matthews comes to mind) is because they had the bodies to play multiple positions and the mental aspect to handle the assignments. Bulaga seems to have the mental side (and experience will help him lots) but short arms on a tackle leads to lots of holding penalties.

Hm, so that's you saying that Bulaga won't live up to the expectations of the Packers. Now in the NFL when someone doesn't live up to the expectations they are considered bust.

Also did you watch the Orange Bowl past the first drive?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAUs6ny8Hps&feature=related

that shows a bunch of Morgan vs Bulaga and Bulaga didn't look as bad as you swear he did. I did watch a bunch of Iowa games (for the simple fact I like their coach)

Also if you watched Iowa games you would notice that Bulaga didn't have trouble with speed rushers because of their speed, sense besides myself most believe he is extremely quick on his feet, he had trouble with speed rushers when they would transfer their speed into power. Bulaga posted some of the better O-Line 3 cone drill and 20 yard shuffle, but put up horrible numbers when it came to bench press finishing 18 out of 40

  6. You likely won't get a response from Remi since this is irrefutable evidence that he's more than 100 percent wrong so I though I'd respond by saying that you are absolutely right. Sometimes its nice to just say things and use numbers and assume nobody else is going to research it but the truth is there are no magical numbers outside of the white lines that you can use to project the success of an athlete. How many combine stars have become busts and vice versa?

Well said and well researched GB nice to see some of that good old fashioned research come to light in way of opinion.

lol it wasn't even that, I remember talking to people in the past about it and there are cases that support and don't support long arms for tackles.

Roos is one of the best tackles in the game, he may be on a run first squad but to only give up one sack during a year is impressive.

There is just more to a position then one key attribute. Manning isn't a stud because he's got the arm of a rocket, Chris Johnson isn't a great running back because he can run the 40 faster than most, Larry Fitz isn't one of the best because he has hands bigger than mine or yours.

Those player have a bunch of different things rolled into one.

  7. And almost no one will see it.

    So how bout this Thursday?

Im thinking Saints win the rematch. They already look polished and the Vikings have alot of ?s at WR, along with Brett being another year older.

Brett has always had ?'s at WR. Last year, with the Jets, and most his career with the Packers outside of the Freeman and can't remember the other guy era. He is the one who helped Javon, Greg Jennings, Sidney Rice, and Donald Driver become household names.

He still has a great running game and they will figure things out with the WR's

  8. Sons of Anarchy is a good show, but for me the ending of season 2 ruined it slightly it was far to OTT and why couldnt (spoiler of season 2 ending) : 1 guy stay behind and kill Zobelle?

you need to keep Zobelle. He did a great job as the bad guy and messing with the Sons. I thought the cliffhanger last season was handled wonderfully.

  9. One of the reasons some alltime greats were such (Bruce Matthews comes to mind) is because they had the bodies to play multiple positions and the mental aspect to handle the assignments. I think folks are seriously overestimating several teams (not the least of which is my own beloved Broncos). I'm looking at 8-8 for my team, simply because of history and the systems being employed. This isn't the days of the one-cut anymore so injuries at the running back position threaten the entire gameplan. You can't just plug anyone with two legs into McDaniels' backfield and have a 1,000 yard rusher on your hands. They traded Peyton Hillis (which was a mistake IMO) and with Knowshon banged up and Buckhalter not even worth thinking about really, they're going to have to find a diamond in the pile of (poop). Couple that with a shaky defense and the loss of Elvis along with the questionable replacement talent and about the only exciting thing for the team will be "When's Tebow coming in?".

Well you might have a point there, but at the same time his arms being short doesn't mean he is a future bust like you do.

the avg length for a tackles arms in the NFL two year was 34 1/2 inches. The NFC pro-bowlers were avg at 33 3/4 while the AFC were 34 on the dot.

Bulaga has bigger arms then 6 current NFL starting LT

    Carolina Panthers Jordan Gross 33

    Eagles Jason Peters 33 1/8

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Donald Penn 33

Atlanta Falcons Sam Baker 32 3/4

Detroit Lions Jeff Backus 32 1/2

Tennessee Titans Michael Roos 32 1/4

That is a pretty good list of OT as well. Roos is the anchor for the Titans line, Backus isn't that good, Baker was a steal for the Falcons, Penn was just rewarded a contract and many believed he should have been a pro-bowler last year, Peters is a talented tackle, and Gross is one of the best.

Also Michael Oher, Jason Smith, Matt Light, Joe Thomas fall into that under 34 inch arms.

I just don't think you can say a guy isn't going to live up to expectations just because of the size of his arms. More goes into it then just his arms like is he quick on his feet, his he smooth and fluid. Those factor in more than if he has 34 3/4 or bigger arms.

  10. There is a difference between being a great hitter and you USED to be a great hitter. It happens all the time, look at Ortiz, look at Man Ram, etc and the list goes on. Guys were great hitters and eventually they fall off.

Berkman will be 35, he's not nearly as young as he used to be. Even last year he posted a 274 average which was the lowest he had hit EVER in his entire full season career. he's got a 290 something career average so he hit about 25 points BELOW his career average and 40 points off of what he hit the year before.

Even if you combine last year he's hitting 259. Berkman was a guy that had some very good years during the Stro's playoff run and he's been a great 300 hitter but looking at his stats last year and this year its not a case of an "off" year when this is the second year you've hit well below you're career average

Now obviously the Yankee's have the money they can do whatever they want. My argument was and still is that this was a bad move on the Yankees who were taking a 14 million dollar gamble on a guy that was clearly on the downtrend when there were several options out there that were cheaper and more effective.

You can't call it an off year when in your last TWO years you're hitting .259 which is 37 points below your career average all the while pushing 35. Maybe it was the case of the talent not being there, maybe it was a case of nagging injuries catching up with the guy but my entire point was and is that this was a 14 million dollar donation to the Astros organization and that he's going to offer them nothing that someone on their bench couldn't have offered for 14 million less.

Didn't mean to strike a bad note, if I did then I am sorry. Now while Berkman did hit .274 last year he also jacked 25 HR with 80 RBI in only 140 games and 460 AB which comes to about 3.2 AB a game, a HR every 18.4 AB, and a RBI every 5.1 AB. still while walking as much as he Strikeouts. That's not that bad of a year for most people and even Berkman who was 34 at the time with only Carlos Lee as his back-up .

I think we have to remember one thing about the Yanks and it kind of helps Remi case (:( me helping Remi in an arguement, how the world changes lol)

Berkman is a typical Yankee player, he will have down years and his avg might suck, but he is a .400 OBP guy who can play in the field as well and get on base with walks. The Yanks are known for their ability to work the count and work pitchers. Berkman does that. If Berkman SO 100 times a year, you better bet your butt he is getting walked just as much, which is what the Yanks like about him.

Now off year yes, two in a row no. Berkman had a down year last year in the AVG department and a horrible one this year. Dumb move....... probably, but did they really give up a bunch for a player that will net them a draft pick this year come free agent time?

This is a tough arguement for both sides. The best way to handle this one is wait and see what Berkman does the rest of the season and playoffs. Last point Berkman's salary may be 14 million, but the Yanks are only paying a certain amount of that as long as the Astro who wanted him gone didn't take some just to make him more desirable to teams. Also he has a 2 million dollar buy-out, so he is just a rent a player.

  11. Well, like I said, I just went through and picked all the games. :p

I do think this is the year Lovie finally gets run out of Chicago. 2-14 might be extreme, but 4th feels like a likely outcome as the Lions look to be putting the pieces together. Alittle.

I dont buy Singletary as a good head coach. Seattle got the edge though mostly from better matchups at home and away than the 49ers. Schedule can determine alot.

Jets? Media babies. 8-8 is where they would have landed last year anyway, if Curtis Painters mom had kept it in her pants. And still no Revis.

Jags suffer from playing in a stacked division. And I have serious doubts about their current GM. He seems like he's on a quest to prove he is smarter than everyone else by looking for diamonds from small schools. Plus Del Rio is pretty awful and most the offense is on MJD.

And the Eagles...they are just very consistent. Obviously is Kolb goes out and blows it, its a different story. But Andy Reid has done a great job building a perenial contender.

All great valid points. I guess we will have to see what happens this coming year.

  12. I agree with Stennick, your DH has to be more productive than .239. I know he was hurt and I hope he can do better (That double he hit last night was sweet). However, having a DH hit that low is just horrible. I mean they are basically just a professional hitter and so therefore they should you know...hit.

The DH is the exact opposite of a pitcher in the NL. NL a pitcher is considered a free out. In the AL the DH is cosidered an extra run. That's how GM's have always looked at DH's. That's why you don't see a speedy person who can't hit play that position. A good DH can hit .280 with 20 HR's and 90 RBI. A great one goes out and does .300, 30 HR, and 100RBI and they don't play Defense, if they can then plus.

Berkman is a great hitter, his career stats prove that. In saying that he is having an offseason and like in the past the Yankees took him not caring, but the Yanks can do that and not care.

  13. You think BJ would beat Gray, really? Care to tell me why? I see that fight pretty much going the way GSP/Penn II went minus the corner stoppage, plus a decision. :)

BJ looks better bald, simple!!! lol

I think BJ could beat Gray IMHO only because Gray didn't dominate Kenny like I thought he would. I remember when BJ and Kenny fought last year and the way BJ was just in control throughout the whole fight. BJ against Edgar just reminded me of the Jackson vs Evans fight. One guy kept pressuring the other and the other would answer at times, but not enough.

  14. So, I went through that picked the games...heres what I came up with.

    AFC East

    Patriots 11 5

    Jets 8 8

    Dolphins 8 8

    Bills 3 13

    AFC North

    Ravens 13 3

    Bengals 11 5

    Steelers 9 7

    Browns 2 14

    AFC South

    Colts 14 2

    Texans 11 5

    Titans 8 8

    Jaguars 4 12

    AFC West

    Chargers 10 6

    Raiders 9 7

    Broncos 6 10

    Chiefs 3 13

    NFC East

    Giants 10 6

    Eagles 10 6

    Redskins 9 7

    Cowboys 9 7

    NFC South

    Saints 13 3

    Falcons 11 5

    Bucs 3 13

    Panthers 3 13

    NFC North

    Packers 13 3

    Vikings 11 5

    Lions 5 11

    Bears 2 14

    NFC West

    Seahawks9 7

    49ers 8 8

    Cardinals 5 11

    Rams 5 11

I think the 49ers, Jets, Bears, Broncos, and Jags do better then your predicts personally.

McDainels has pretty much shown us in a year and a half that it's his way or the highway and so far so good.

the 9ers have an improved O-Line for the beast known as Gore to run through. Also they have throwing threats in Davis and Crabtree (as they fight on the field :p) that could give Alex Smith a year where he tosses about 20 TD. Their D should be better as well.

Bears have had a horrible preseason playing wise, but to me their is to much talent on that team to finish 2-14. I think their biggest issue now is Lovie Smith. I think he is a great D-minded coach, but I don't like him personally as a head coach.

Jets are the Jets. I know people talk about Mark is only in his 2nd FULL year as a starting QB, but that is a year where we have seen a bunch of QB improve into a great QB (Manning, McNabb, Schaub, Eli M.) All four had nice running games which helped them. With the talent he has to pass to he should improve nicely from last year. Also Revis will probably come back....... maybe.

The Jags are the most interesting team to me out of the 5 I talked about so far. They said goodbye to big John, but I think they have had two nice drafts in a row all together. I think 8-8 isn't out of the question.

Also 10-6 for the Eagles is wishful thinking to me. They have lost way to much to instantly be that talented again.

  15.
Wow two people who believe panthers are a 500 team or better. I think the bucs and panthers battle for the bottom of the south bottom

I think the saints fall off, not because of deceased talent just the world tour they took and the fact in the NFL its so hard to repeat season after season is so hard. I still think 11 games is what they win

  16. Surprised this went without word with all the great rookie Pitchers this year, But Hellickson of the Rays went 3-0 with a 2.09 ERA while with the Rays and only missed going 4-0 because of a blown lead in the 8th last night.

Also I don't get how Strasburg can call out Harper for taking so long to sign?

  17. Roy Oswalt has agreed to be traded to the Phillies. Great trade for the Phils in my opinion, now if they can get their hitting going, I think they have a chance of going back to the World Series.

Also, Buck Showalter is going to be the new manager of Baltimore. You know I always thought Buck was a good manager and I was not happy when the Yankees fired him. All though it did bring Joe Torre to the Yankees so I guess it turned out to be all right.

I just felt that Buck was screwed out of a chance at a World Series title back in the strike season and then the year after he is fired (and Donny Baseball retires), the Yanks went on to win the World Series.

I hope Buck does good for Baltimore (obviously I do not want to see him do great because the Yankees are in the same division).

you know the phil's got to be kicking themselves for trading Lee earlier this season. They wouldn't have had to trade for Roy and they would have gotten picks for Lee if he did decide to leave. Oh well I hope Roy has fun in Philly.

  18. Depends on how they use him. He's not the same TO, after all. If they make him run the slants, deep outs, and digs as well as fades in the red zone, he's going to give teams fits. He'll also allow Gresham and Bryant tons of room to work in those 4 and 5 wide sets.

Correct. Only thing is that Cincy will probably run a base with at least a RB, FB, 2 WR, and 1 TE.

I think as of now Owens is the number 2 wideout depending on how AB feels with his knee. Now when they go to that 4 wide set it would look like this more than likely

Chad J., Owens, AB, Shipley, and Gresham as the Tight End. and during the 5 wide they swap Gresham for Cadwell.

Biggest concern right now is how Gresham and AB progress with their injuries. AB is now a year removed from and ACL tear in his knee. Gresham missed all of last year with an ACL tear and will probably be used cautiously.

All in all I think the Bengales have one of the most talented Offenses and if Andre can make weight and stay healthy they would be downright scary.

  19. Can't he just sell United instead as all the United fans hate them.

that's would be the fan choice but untied I is the money smart move to keep if he gets rid of the debt on the team. United offers more money from sponsors, TV deals, and merch. The bucs are just team that gives him a 20 million dollar profit each rear where untied could double or even triple that easily

  20.
http://boards.ign.com/football/b5105/194135391/p1/

    50 most valuable sports teams

2 things popped out at me from this.

A while ago someone on this board said the Man-U wasn't the most valuable anymore because of their debt. Second out of the top 15 the Glazers own 2 of them........ So why not sell the Bucs to pay of the debt from Man-U and then go buy the football team to send to LA?

    I know wishful thinking there.
