  1. <p><strong>Terry Funk Wannabe:</strong> This worker refuses to retire, no matter how old, in physical or skills decline he is in.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Like Any Given Wrestler:</strong> These guys, like any given wrestler, will always be open to return from retirement if it matches their personality, career or financial goals.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Man of his word:</strong> This wrestler will retire once and be one of those rare ones that sticks to his word. Tying these to other attributes, if possible, would be even great. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Goals:</strong> Much like WMMA5, if we could have specific goals for a wrestler that would be about what makes them tick, it would be awesome. Career, fame, fortune, glory, Passion for the business, would be just some of the possibilities. Fame would be tied to the need to stay in the spotlight, career and glory would be tied to objectives. Success in the latter, stability in the former. Glory is self explanatory. Passion for the business as well, as it would be tied to being able to be creative and to be successful and have freedom on that side of the business.</p>
  2. If there is not an alliance update somewhere near the end of the journal I will admit to be very disappointed. While I know we are in the live journal stage, if some of the major alliance upgrades that were expected or requested aren't even gonna make the list in some way or fashion, it is disappointing. So many great improvements, no doubt, and I love what was announced, but we all know regardless some are more looked for than others.
  3. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Bigpapa42" data-cite="Bigpapa42" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Undertaker went through a lot of gimmick variations that were arguably different gimmicks entirely. 1999 Taker is a lot different than 1993 Taker, which is a lot different than 2002 Taker.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Not to mention bike Taker for a few years, but mostly Undertaker for the majority of the years. So basically tweaks and variations, either major or minor, but the concept was pretty much the same. Take was only an example though, there are others.</p>
  4. <p>I hope one can create the Undertaker type of gimmick effect. Gimmicks that while tweaked over the years, remain mostly unchanged for the majority of one's career. So tweaking to keep it fresh, making it work and not needing to do a new one. Obviously this shouldn't be valid for all gimmicks, but I really don't remember what is the duration from 16 gimmicks, what is the average and how it effects it with tweaks, so I really can't remember what it exactly is lasting as much as in TEW 16.</p><p> </p><p> Other than that, this is really good stuff. This overhaul is great for the way we play the game, gives something of more significance for gimmicks and actually helps reduce all the unnecessary clicking. Can't wait for bigger things to come.</p>
  5. Dude, that's called personal preference, yours and apparently from half a dozen dudes that watched wrestling back in the day. Your opinion, regardless of how wrong or right it may be, does not represent mainstream audiences. Add to that the fact you did not refute one single argument made against your thesis and there is not much more to say about this.
  6. 100% agree with this in regards to both this and I apply it also to spoils of war. People (all of us in general, not pointing fingers to anyone specific) will sometimes unnecessarily discuss something to exhaustion until something new is announced. One just has to accept the internet for what it is. As long as no one is insulting anyone, or breaking any rules, have fun at it, boys and girls. But i pretty much think this post sums it up. Small neat features that add up but are not that complicated or important to warrant being made into such a big deal with all the complexity we've been talking about.
  7. Indeed. This reminds me of all those diaries where people were repeatedly called out for unrealistic premises as WWE full of indie darlings or retired legends like HBK, The Rock, or Goldberg, among others, always returning at some point in time. This is why I always laugh when someone says playing TEW in RW mods is "limited". Yeah right...anything can happen in real life. And whatever didn't happened could have happened, could have come to happen, could still happen in some way, and so on. But i will bet that at some point in time, either that show or something very similar was booked on TEW's history at some point. Even EWR's. I enjoyed SD, I think the quality of the product is slowly improving. I hope they use some of the talent that is usually at catering to give us some more new exciting match ups. Murphy sold really well for Reigns, made him look strong, made himself look good and we got a very good match out of it. The whole Kofi can't beat Orton was pretty much the direction we all expected, but we've also been expecting it for a decade, so it sells itself. I still think it should have started sooner and concluded at Summerslam, but it did not come to be, so I'll take it for what it is and hope they book it well. I don't know if they can stretch it out to November, so it's a shame if it concludes in a B PPV. Still curious to see how they handle it. The who did it to Reigns is getting a long buildup. Extremely curious to see where they take this next week. Overall there are starting to be some points to be curious about to tune in in the coming weeks. If they keep it in that direction and improve from there, it would be great. But the new Stone Cold, a new version of I did it for The Rock, and so on... They seem to be reaching for their bag of old hits. May turn out to be fun, as some have been played out long ago and in time to be revisited. May not. As always, depends on the booking. We'll see.
  8. If the levels of the feature could reflect company sizes or how it would affect workers, it would be top notch. If not, a media storm is always a media storm anyway. It will happen to everyone, national, international or much below. It will still be a pain for those smaller workers cause their market share, aka everyone that knows them, will be engulfed in said storm. But I don't definitely think it should be restricted to big companies only. Heck, sometimes unknown guys are even skyrocketed to a global platform (in good or bad ways) over them.
  9. Yep. And those big names would be loyal to the owners anyway, given a personal friendship or a big fat deal, so they would celebrate as well.
  10. Yeah, this was the major downer of the PPV. Not a deal breaker for the entire event, but a very odd decision. If they felt the storyline needed more time before an actual win (and therefore an actual match, or a decisive win) they should have started sooner. While I see the potential in extending the feud and not giving a decisive winner, there were still better ways to do it. The only logical scenario would have been for this feud to start much sooner and to conclude with a Kofi decisive win at a big PPV like Summerslam. But obviously they rushed the storyline and now want to milk it as much as they can.
  11. If you mean wouldn't in the bolded part, I 100% agree with your post. It is most likely a locker room morale bonus, very realistic, and not given to everyone individually. Even if it was, it would still not be an issue. When companies are competing, they are doing so for the same market share. Someone is going to suffer over it. And if I'm working in one of those companies and have no assurances I will be hired by the other one if my current promotions ends or suffers, I will be very glad if my company turns it around and wins it. Very little people will have the luxury or the insight to think long term at the time. Especially when it's an all out war daily environment. Most will be bound to celebrate when it happens. The feature seems to reflect it, it is not a major thing, so I see no reason to even make a big thing out of it, just a neat bonus that reflects what the majority of a locker room will feel when a war is won. As such, there is absolutely no need to compromise. Just to simulate the one or two wrestlers that would worry about 2, 3, 5 or even 10 years down the road? Makes no sense. I think the feature adds to realism and to what actually feels to win a corporate war, regardless of what the future will be later on. (those involved will know how it actually works in corporate wars, I speak from experience.) So i fully agree. And the need to even debate this (obviously everyone is free to do it, I'm not discouraging it in any way, just stating my opinion) seems a bit excessive nitpicking to me. But to each its own.
  12. That really isn't true, though. Vince's loyal workers got that morale boost as well. And most of the others would get something similar, as the war being over at the time meant their jobs were safe, as WCW was no longer there to threat their jobs. (Remember that at some point WWE was close enough to going bankrupt themselves before turning it around and winning the war.) What it caused in the long term is another thing that doesn't really have a place in this feature. Seems fine to me.
  13. <p>I'd say with all the stakes involved, as well as the circumstances, the main event was the MOTN of Summerslam, in my opinion. Lesnar did not phone it in and both guys delivered on telling a good story. Lesnar wrestling an actual long match was a welcomed surprise. 3 out of 4 possible tv appearances in 4 weeks and 1 long ppv match. Heyman influence maybe? Seth winning was the right move and I was glad that a world title (would have been perfect if the focus of the ppv went to the actual main world title once, but meh.) was the centric point of a big ppv with a decent story to it. In terms of WWE, that's positive evolution right there.</p><p> </p><p> Curious to see where exactly are they going with the Roman story and surprised he did not have a match at an A ppv. I'd say Ember vs. Bailey, despite being a solid match, did not have any crowd interest at all. Bailey needs more than tweaks, a full gimmick change could help a lot. Curious to see if Banks returns this week or not.</p><p> </p><p> It was a solid PPV, perhaps as Milamber said, a couple of great matches in there would have made it even better, the only qualm being the rushed booking of storylines. As they seem to be improving on the long term planning, I'm guessing that will also improve in the future. WWE tv is becoming watchable again. Lets see if it lasts or even improves.</p>
  14. If the worker is not on time decline yet, regardless of age, you still have a few good 2 or 3 years to milk out of him, maybe more if he gets in the ring with good workers in his later years, while you prepare someone younger for the long term or repeat the cycle with another worker.
  15. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>"<strong>These are slightly different to other decisions in the game in that they're not always one-off</strong>; they can branch out based on what approach you take and become multi-part stories. So, bungling your handling of it could make things worse and stretch it out for longer than it should run, for example."</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Sometimes more is more. So if we could have some of those decisions that are not a one-off in other parts of the game, I'd be all for it.</p><p> </p><p> I like the social media feature, it is a much needed reality in any simulator nowadays, i think it could be adapted to older eras by changing some lines of code and instead of social media storm it would be a media storm for some interview or public action that went wrong. These things also happened back in the day, but with different triggers, different reactions and different spreading, given the different tools back in the day. Hulk Hogan choking Richard Belzer, for example. Jerry Lawler and Andy Kaufman. </p><p> </p><p> Even the kayfabe plans like the one I mention were a big deal back then because the means of communication were different and the blur between reality and kayfabe was way bigger. But something could still be talked about a lot and become damaging. (or conversely positive and good for a feud heat.) </p><p> </p><p> The eras locking in the type of events is also appreciated and would be what would make the difference in events occurring and what type of decisions or fallout there would be. There should also be the reverse side of the feature where something goes very well and a wrestler gets over one of these events big time, like Lynch in social media.</p>
  16. You go with The Stinger. An alternative would be Inoki just for the fun of having a 49 year old figure head. I mean, I remember booking Sting almost to death, as a 60 something year old world champ with record reigns and boy, did those matches suck, but it was fun as heck.

They settled because it made sense time and money wise to do so, same as any other reason. </div></blockquote><p> </p><p> No they didn't. They immediately tweaked the gimmick but WWE said that with what had been done and the implications they worked for WWE, the damage had already been done. It's in the lawsuit.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="TLCJR4LIFE" data-cite="TLCJR4LIFE" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Lawsuits are expensive and time consuming, there is no actual legal precedent for the trademark of a gimmick. <p> The idea and concept as a whole is asinine, would be the equivalent of Dc suing everyone who made a character with Super Speed because it’s too similar to the Flash.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Pro wrestling companies own ring names, that’s basically it, and even that can be skirted around legally. See Warrior.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Clearly they do not own just ring names, they own characters. (which is pretty much what a gimmick is most of the time.) See TNA and Broken Matt as an example. WWE went with the woken version, but they did reach an agreement with TNA to buy the gimmick. Cause if they hadn't owned the gimmick, Vinnie Mac wouldn't even go near it. The fact that they later even got TNA footage handed to them is just another sign that it was probably a good deal for TNA as well.</p>

That's what WCW believed at the time, but it has since been uncovered that some of the mannerisms WWF accused WCW of stealing from the Razor Ramon persona was actually something Scott Hall used back in his first WCW run as well. Noone just bothered to dig into that at the time...</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Interesting. I had never heard that part before, or at least not that I remember. So they didn't even bother to dig into something he did there initially in some way or form? Damn, WCW was destined for failure. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Hive" data-cite="Hive" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Nah that's not why McMahon could buy it. McMahon could buy it pure and simple because Fusion Media, whom together with Bischoff was poised to buy it, withdrew their offer. McMahon was then the only interested party left. He first bought the trademark and logo and afterwards the TV library, in two separate deals.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yeah, the Fusion Media Venture stuff fell through, with Eric, but from what I've heard, the actual terms of the settlement facilitated the buy in itself, even if at the time Vince was the only interested part left. If it's accurate or not, that's probably another story, but it has been acknowledged by many through the years. Now I don't know exactly the terms of the settlement, so I can't be sure if it was a reduced price on those bidding rights or something like that. If it wasn't the case, then i guess it's just one of those common misconceptions regarding WCW.</p>
  19. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Historian" data-cite="Historian" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I think technically they settled, but it's why WCW had to modify the NWO and personas slightly.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Yep, it was settled, mainly because WWE was legally in the right and WCW settled instead of outright losing. Curiously enough, the terms of the settlement were what facilitated WCW's acquisition in 2001, as one of the terms of said settlement gave WWE the right to bid on WCW's assets if the company was liquidated. Which it was...and the rest is history.</p>
  20. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Teh_Showtime" data-cite="Teh_Showtime" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="46105" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>I’ve long said I thought the game conflated a face/heel divide with using faces and heels at all. Just because good/evil characters exist doesn’t mean they are naturally restricted to who they fight.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> While your statement is correct, it isn't all black and white. Yes, face vs face and heel vs heel can still become classics, as long as well booked and the characters are red hot, etc, but it is much more easier to pit good vs bad and it's always been wrestling at its core. A feature that reflects those shades of grey seems great, it just needs some tweaking.</p>
  21. Interesting stuff today. Small changes sometimes provide good content. Looking forward for what it is yet to come. Small stuff like filtering alumni, for example, makes a difference and saves time. Going forward, I hope that at some point Adam might provide some hints of what will become of the CV in 2020, (when he moves to that stage of the process) but really small cryptic hints would probably be better, so we can still get a big surprise when the game is out.
  22. The new gimmick system being proposed seems interesting, but I sure hope it is worked to achieve a balance that doesn't depend solely on RNG, so to speak, but also doesn't fall flat as too easy. That middle ground is important and getting rid of the old gimmick files that are pretty much useless and repetitive is a plus. I do hope gimmicks have a bigger importance in the game, though, like they have irl. Talent trade stuff is great and much needed, but if we can offer people on loan with nothing in return, which sounds great to me, the AI should also do the same when they want to/need to. Just my 2 cents. The screens update is very very good, considering this game is made of a very heavy graphics community and it finally avoids having to go to a site, or file, to read the actual description of a universe. Good stuff so far.

Maybe loading times would be bigger for Asia divided into 2 or 3 regions, I dunno. Like I said, I get WHY India is there, especially in the current context of markets and all of that, just too bad it doesn't happen to bring more of Asia with it.3</p><p> </p><p> Edit: On today's entry, very good stuff. I like that there is still things to add and that it is taking its time, which means a more polished, well thought game. Seems fine by me, even if we wait a bit longer.</p>
