This week's American Wrestling is in the books and it's time for our look back, assessment and recap of the show. Let's get into it. USPW American Wrestling came to us from The Dust Bowl in the South East this week in front of a paying audience of 14,022 which was shy of a sell out. The Reverie audience of 12,210,575 is their best 'TV' number yet and continues to show the company's growth. <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Casey Valentine [vs] Tavon Blake Straight into the wrestling action this week as Valentine is in action on American Wrestling for the first time in a month. The match itself is a good opening affair. Blake got in his fair share of offense and continues to show signs of improvement week on week as he adjusts to the USPW style but he was no match for Valentine who seemed to have a point to prove this week and picked up the pinfall victory. (63) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Valentine takes the opportunity to grab a mic and cut a promo on the National Title. He claims he had it won at Liberty & Justice! and feels he is due another shot. Bach appears to the crowds joy but before he can start he's interrupted by Joss Thompson and Roger Cage who stake their claim. Words are exchanged, insults are hurled and a four way is announced for Freedom Fight! Great segment. (84) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Regular Joe [vs] Jerry Lee Perkins This match underwhelmed as neither man is particularly over with the audience and that's a crucial element of USPW. The match only went four minutes though and through underhanded tactics and dirty offence JLP made light work of Regular Joe and picked up the pinfall to maintain momentum towards Saturdays event! (32) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Perkins calls out his bandmates and all oblige as the foursome put a beatdown on Joe and continue to prove themselves as bullies. The fans knew something was coming though and Champion and Wolf appeared to make the save as they began throwing hands and fighting against the odds. Champion set himself up for the Hawkeye Hammer but as he propelled himself over the ropes Fedora moved and the crushing clothesline caught an unexpectant Wolf. The Band fled, trash talked and walked away as Champion tried to help Wolf who was clearly unhappy with the events that unfurled. (71) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Engyma was next to appear for promo time. He was fired up and annoyed at recent events as a result of beatdowns and defeats and he called out Davis Wayne Newton & Nelson Callum. The two happily obliged but didn't feel like talking. True to form they opted straight for violence and attacked Enygma. A taped up at the ribs Jack Bruce had seen enough and ran to fight off the duo and aid Enygma. It seems we're getting a tag match between these four at Freedom Fight! (73) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Purple Viper [vs] Jillian Jarvis Viper appears to be slowly catching on with fans and once she does I feel she'll be a big time player. This was her best match on TV so far in USPW and having an opponent such as 'The Iron Lady' will only help that. The big push for Viper is clear here and she won a very competitive nine minute match here. (55) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Promo time with the group that have anointed themselves as 'Doomsday'. Mr. Deville accompanied by Baine & Dreadnought cuts a promo sympathising with and berating T.Rex. They understand his frustration and anger and he'll get a chance at revenge and to prove that they were wrong. One on one with Dreadnought in a Last Man Standing match at Freedom Fight! (62) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Flight & Might and Natural Storm [vs] The Business (Nash, Whitlock, Zeus & JJ) A fairly paint by numbers tag team affair here but it still delivered a compelling contest with good storytelling throughout. Zeus & JJ left most of the work to Nash and Whitlock here, seemingly saving themselves for Saturday, and it proved costly. The babyface foursome worked together well and came out on top with Eddie Howard getting the pinfall victory of Whitlock. (74) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Shenanigans post-match in promo time with arguments and insults thrown. Natural Storm claim they got the win here when the champs couldn't and want in the title match. The Texas Express enter the fray and state that they want in but they're laughed at by Zeus & JJ. Jett cuts through the nonsense, claims that the champions fear no one and they have no issue with fighting one, two or three teams. He accepts the challenge of all the teams. (75) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Charity Sweet, Missy Masterson, Pariah & Melody are all in the locker together sharing stories, ambitions and ongoing feuds with others as they put the world to rights together. A showing of mutual respect between the two sides is displayed before all four leave the locker together ready to do battle against each other next. Fun little segment here to display the natural charisma and talking ability of all four whilst still building hype for the match next. (80) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Pariah & Melody [vs] The Sweet Missy's A very good tag team contest here continuing to showcase how excellent the women's division is and how swiftly they've progressed in the last 4 months. The 1 on 1 action was engaging enough but the tag team maneuvers on display were just as engaging and their appears to be a real effort to push women's tag team wrestling. The match was building to it's crescendo when Emily McQueen rose from the commentary desk to head ringside at which point an outside duo, accompanied by Alicia Strong, entered the ring and began laying into everyone that moved. Pariah was clobbered first and so gets the DQ victory (77) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> McQueen and Strong spend time directing traffic with Pariah & Melody being the primary focus of the duo's attention. Strong then readies her title and smashes it into the head of Charity Sweet to lay out her challenger for Saturday night. McQueen then officially introduces us to Kate Lilly & Debbie Rose and hypes their impending beatdown of Pariah & Melody on Saturday night. A strong segment, a great introduction to the new duo and a possible affiliation with Strong to boot? (80) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> As has become the norm for USPW TV of late, and it's not unappreciated, Belle Bryden splits the screen as she conducts an official pre-match interview with both Steve Frehley and Rick Law to determine Money's challenger for Saturday night. Both men state their case, boast of their achievements and hype the match suitably as it is then thrown to ringside. (91) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rick Law [vs] Steve Frehley (#1 Contender's Tournament Final) This was Rick Law's best outing of the year so far and the crowd were especially hot for this one as both men seemed to have whipped the crowd up and gained popularity over the last month. A strong TV main event which Frehley had the upper hand for but Rick Law did his best to give as good as he got and having the crowd on his side certainly helped. The two traded blows and fought to the corner but as Frehley went for a blistering clothesline he also caught the referee and all three went down. Enter Bulldozer Brandon Smith to a big crowd reaction. We haven't seen Smith since he lost to Frehley in cheap and cheating fashion two weeks ago and the big man looked smug and determined. Smith lifted Frehley to his feet and planted him two receipt kicks in the form of low-blows before hoisting The Dark Destroyer up and planting him with a Tombstone Piledriver and fleeing the scene. Law and the ref rose from their knockdown, Law covered Frehley and the ref slowly counted to 3 for the pinfall. (81) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Law, who is soon joined by Dawn Gemmell, celebrates his victory but he is soon interrupted by Rich Money. The champion swaggers down to the ring to confront Law and makes a beeline for the challenger to attack but Law is aware enough to avoid the attack and counter with a big boot of his own. The two brawl but Frehley rises and is absolutely incensed. He takes out both and invites Smith down for a fight. Smith happily obliges. The show ends with all four men attempting to beat the daylights out of each other as the commentary team hype Saturday night. Terrific ending segment. (98) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> A very good go-home show for USPW. The best one they've had this year. Leaving it til 3 days before to officially announce some matches perhaps isn't the best way of doing business but with their business being done on the network rather than pay-per-view it doesn't necessarily hurt them either. This gets an 85 overall. Saturday should be an interesting night. Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 3. <div style="padding: 10px; border: 10px solid #261930; margin:10px;background: #bb8be0; max-width:70%;box-shadow: 0 3px 12px ";"> Hello and welcome to this special edition of the Behind The Curtain Podcast with me, Jo-Ro. This week's American Wrestling is in the books and it's time for our look back, assessment and recap of the show. Let's get into it. USPW American Wrestling came to us from The Dust Bowl in the South East this week in front of a paying audience of 15,000 which was a sell out. The Reverie audience of 12,183,344 is an increase on last weeks numbers as the company continues it's steady growth. <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rich Money opens the show dressed for action as opposed to business as he swaggers his way to the ring with his title over his shoulder. He cuts a classically boastful promo of his greatness and reign as champion. He is undefeated in singles action and yet to be pinned this year and, despite how good Andre Jones may be, that isn't going to change here. As always a great promo from Money. He always delivers on the microphone and continues to make himself and the title relevant even if they haven't been the biggest focus of the show this year. (91) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rich Money [vs] Andre Jones A very solid opening TV match as Money uses his veteranship and savviness to attempt to overcome the capable and tough competitor that is Jones who is also undefeated in singles action this year. A great contest ended via Money's 'Dollars From Heaven' to put away Jones who had a very good outing that'll be sure to raise his stock. (78) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Money recollects himself and Whitlock gives him his title as he cuts another boastful promo before hyping his Business associates Zeus & Jack Jackson. He claims that the duo are the next great tag team of USPW and will be the next USPW Tag Champions. Fairly generic but still compelling stuff as Money is as good as they come on the mic. (79) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Natural Storm [vs] Zeus & Jack Jackson Natural Storm are yet to lose in tag team or six-man action this year as few teams have the natural chemistry and experience these two do but when you're fighting two dastardly heels and their stablemates are on the outside it becomes that much tougher. The ref continued to do what he could to keep this one clean and incident free which included ejecting Money & Whitlock but all the distractions tallied up enough chances for Jackson especially to be underhanded and he finished things up with his Implant DDT on Rayne for a surprising win. One of the best tag matches we've seen this year from USPW. (77) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Backstage now to Jerry Lee Perkins who is waxing lyrical about his group 'The Band' and the damage and misery he's inflicted upon Nicky Champion these past few weeks. Running Wolf interrupts vowing to fight on behalf of his friend but he is blindsided by Funky Fedora, his opponent last week, as Fedora and JLP put the boots to the proud warrior and leave him hurting on the concrete. A lot of moving parts to this continued story but this was a very, very good angle and some of JLP's best work in his very short time here so far. (85) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Pariah, Melody, Charity Sweet & Missy Masterson [vs] The Triumvirate (Strong, Gloria & King) and Killer Kass Only 9 minutes given to this match with 8 competitors so the action was busy and frantic. A good match with lots of women at different stages of overness and popularity currently. A big focus of the match, naturally, was Sweet & Strong since we're en-route to that match up at Freedom Fight in two weeks but Pariah vs Strong seemed and felt like a bigger story here and these two have been mostly kept apart for over a year now but it feels like that's the real story we're building towards. Having said that Sweet is currently very over with the crowd, especially the younger female demographic, and the crowd were elated when she managed a sneaky roll-up on Strong to pick up the big win. (71) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Big Bubba and Tavon Blake are acting as the hype men here as they big up and fluff the ego of Steve Frehley. They remark on the run of destruction he has been on recently and how Jack Bruce is nothing but a minor bump on the road to glory and domination for The Dark Destroyer. Blake did most of the talking here while Bubba nodded and looked menacing and Frehley continued his warm-up. A fine angle. Nothing special but a chance for Blake to exercise his talking skills. (68) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Promo time with the tag team champions Jacob Jett & Julius Moor. They cut a typically babyface promo about how they'll never back down from a challenge to anyone and in their reign they've overcome the biggest and baddest USPW has to offer and they still stand as champions. They welcome The Business but their quest for glory will be short lived. Very good work here from the champions who aren't always known for their promos. (80) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Roger Cage & Joss Thompson [vs] Sammy Bach & Enygma This tag match went a little shy of 13-minutes and was heavy on the action and the drama to compliment the compelling story everyone has been telling over the past few weeks. Great back and forth action with typically charismatic work throughout getting the audience involved. The heels were savvy in remembering events of last week and they managed to keep Enygma isolated from Bach and Bach's attempts to intervene were thwarted. For the finish Enygma began rallying back but Cage decided to go for his mask and try and remove it which panicked the veteran. This allowed Cage the chance to sucker punch Enygma before Thompson hit the Clean Cutter for the decisive 3-count. Another great match in a night of great matches so far. (77) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rick Law and Dawn Gemmell are backstage together for what feels like the first time in forever that we've seen Gemmell. The two have tremendous chemistry together that flows off the screen and between them they cut a passionate promo about Law being too often overlooked and not treated seriously for too long and that stops now. Brilliant stuff and it feels like Law is more popular now than he has been for some time. (90) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rick Law [vs] Davis Wayne Newton (#1 Contender's Tournament Semi Final) This match showcased the talents and skills of DWN that appeared to have been overlooked over the past decade as well as Law proving that has what it takes to do the business. A great storytelling TV match that moved along at a brisk 12-minutes. DWN spent the match working on the neck and legs of Law in a bid to eventually lock in his STF submission but he could never snatch it on quite right and with focusing on that he lost focus elsewhere and classic babyface comeback ended with the Long Arm of the Law and a 3-count in favour of Rick Law. (75) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Belle Bryden stands in between a split screen format like we saw last week with Jack Bruce and Steve Frehley on either side of the divide. A few tantalisingly exciting minutes spent here with both men cutting impassioned promos detailing their history together and the importance of this match to each of them. They made this feel like the biggest match we have ever seen and the crowd in attendance let them know that's how they felt. Perfect. (100) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Jack Bruce [vs] Steve Frehley (#1 Contender's Tournament Semi-final) Arguably the best match of the year from USPW so far. It was certainly the best TV match of the year so far from any of the big 3 but should it be a surprise given the star power and talent involved? This was just shy of 13-minutes of action that flew by in a heartbeat with near falls and call backs aplenty. Frehley typically held control of the contest and put a hurt on the babyface Bruce apart from a few fiery but short-lived hope spots. A Frehley's Comet into the ring post seemed to hurt Bruce and he spent a lot of time nursing his ribs. He hit a couple of New York Minute's for some near falls but couldn't put The Dark Destroyer down. Frehley, with a few dirty tactics inbetween, capitalised on the hurt ribs of Bruce and crushed him with 3 Dark Destroyer Spears before flattening him with a Frehley's Comet for the pinfall. A big end to a big contest with the monstrous bad guy emerging victorious and the crowd let everyone know how they felt about it. Boos rained down upon Frehley as he drank them in and put the boots to the Rock God. Great end to the show. (90) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The show opened and hit the ground running and it didn't let up for a single second. Every angle, except perhaps The Succession one, hit an intended point and it didn't feel like any seconds were wasted. This was comfortably the best USPW TV show of the year and, in my opinion, also easily beat anything else SWF & TCW have put out so far. I don't expect this to become the norm. This is likely a rare anomaly but this was brilliant entertainment and wrestling action. Let's hope they can follow it up with the go-home show next week. Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 4. World Champion Rich Money will open the show in singles action against Andre Jones. It'll be Money's first singles match this year that wasn't a title defence and it'll be a great opportunity for Jones to prove that perhaps he deserves to be in a main event spotlight. A win over the champion could shock the world. Money's business associates Zeus & Jack Jackson will be in tag team action as they take on Natural Storm. Howard & Rayne have signalled their intent to reclaim the tag team titles after a brief rest from the chase but Zeus & JJ toppled The Texas Express last week and are on a path to bring more gold to The Business. After their confrontation a few weeks ago and the announcement of a 4v4 match we now know the full combatants. Alicia Strong and her Muscle Monsters have recruited Killer Kass as their fourth. Charity Sweet and Missy Masterson knew there'd be trouble afoot and they wanted the best so have Pariah & Melody by their side. Now they have their own issues going on and all four on the 'good' side are still chasing the Women's Title. It's sure to prove exciting and chaotic. Sammy Bach called out Joss Thompson and Roger Cage last week after The A-Listers vicious group attack on Enygma and so the tag match is arranged and will take place this Wednesday night. Another member of The A-Listers is Davis Wayne Newton and after he defeated Enygma last week he now has a meeting with a reenergised and refocused Rick Law, who once again seems to have Dawn Gemmell by his side, in the semi finals of the #1 contender's tournament to challenge Rich Money. The main event of the evening is the second semi final of the tournament and a match that I'm sure almost no one can believe is happening in USPW. 'The Rock God' Jack Bruce will go one-on-one with The Dark Destroyer' Steve Frehley. These two have a storied history from their days in the SWF with Bruce ending one of Frehley's reigns as a World Champion among other notable events in their history. It's sure to be a tantalasing main event. It's going to be a great night of action as we continue our charge towards Freedom Fight! We'll see you on Wednesday! 5. The rate at which these shows have been coming is wonderful and that was a fantastic 18 nights of block action but you've done The Ace dirty! Looking forward to the final night.
  6. USPW American Wrestling came to us from the Edmonton Grandstand in Alberta, Canada this week in front of a paying audience of 10,000 which was a sell out. The Reverie audience of 12,067,097 is an increase on last weeks numbers as the company continues it's steady growth. <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Another video recap package of the events of last week's American Wrestling punctuated by it being thrown to the announce team and them hyping the upcoming events of tonight's broadcast. Nothing new or different here but if it ain't broke don't fix it. (82) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The Texas Express vs Zeus & Jack Jackson (The Business) A decent opening contest here for TV that was a storytelling led affair. The bad guys get the victory with Zeus taking the lead on the in-ring action and Jack Jackson being on clean up duty. The good ol' Texas boys kept it clean and kept it mean with their babyface fire but the dirty tactics of the bad guys kept them on top here and JJ was made to look very good in the finish here and putting away Christie with the Implant DDT. JJ cuts a brief promo in the aftermath stating he wants gold and the tag titles are first on the list. (59) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> We cut backstage to the parking lot of the arena where we see Nicky Champion arriving to the building but before he's even on screen for three seconds he's on the concrete and showered in splintered pieces of wood and string. Jerry Lee Perkins is revealed with Thatcher and Ducont with him. The duo lift Champion and slam him onto the hood of a nearby car before all three leave as officials arrive on the scene. We're generating decent heat here for Perkins and it'll be interesting to see how this continues to play out. (73) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The group collectively known as The A-Listers are backstage discussing their plans of revenge on Bruce, Bach and Newton's upcoming match vs Enygma in the tournament. Nothing spectacular or special to note here. Just a solid backstage segment with good talkers and keeping some of the hottest commodities in the company on screens. (74) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Purple Viper vs Raven Robinson The company seem determined to get Viper over in a hurry if recent booking is anything to go by. After her squashing of Jaime Quine a month ago it was a similar story told here. Robinson and her heelish arrogance underestimated the newcomer luchadora and was made to pay. The match lasted 6-minutes but it was a Viper showcase and she picked up the win via her Viper Bite. USPW matches rely heavily on their workers being over with the crowd. Viper isn't there yet (though she is making some serious gains) and the 44 year old Robinson seems to be losing a step quicker than expected so the rating here is fair. (46) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Melody & Pariah vs Jillian Jarvis & Tiffany Jade This was another great showcase of the incredibly talented women's division and it would seem that tag team wrestling might be becoming more of a feature for the women moving forward. Both teams seemed to have decent chemistry and it's an interesting scenario with, arguable, the number 1 and 2 babyfaces in the division on the same side despite the heel singles champion. The company is still hot on Pariah (she's yet to be pinned this year) despite Sweet being the prime challenger right now so it's a peculiar situation all round currently. Anyway, I'm getting distracted. This match was great and the second best of the night with Melody pinning Jarvis for the win. (75) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> As the babyfaces celebrate Emily McQueen rises from the announce desk with a microphone in hand. She cuts a promo on the duo claiming that though they may seem like they have potential to be a 'team', if they can keep egos in check, the one true team in all of women's wrestling will be debuting soon and they're going to make an immediate impact. They want to take down the top women USPW has to offer at Freedom Fight! The duo accepted. A good promo here from McQueen and it's easy to forget that she can still talk with the best of them despite being behind the announce desk these days. Perhaps we're mixing things up if McQueen moves to a manager? (74) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Moving onto the next segment after the break we're greeted by darkness descending upon the arena. A candlelit lantern appears held aloft on the ramp as Blackfyre Deville shows his face and is soon accompanied by Tyson Baine and Dreadnought. He cuts a moderately menacing promo hyping his monstrous duo, especially Dreadnought, and says they'll be commencing on a path of destruction through USPW. Deville isn't over but can talk. Dreadnought is a complete unknown right now and we know what Baine can do though he's pushing 50. Still an interesting trio and I expect a big push incoming. (57) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Grandmaster Phunk vs Dreadnought Grandmaster Phunk is a solid worker but nothing more at this stage of his career and rumor has it that he's very dissatisfied with his current status in USPW. This match won't have done anything to help that though he did his job and made Dreadnought look like a killer. A three minute squash. (28) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Danny Jillefski catches up with Purple Viper backstage and is about to commence an interview but before it begins Robinson is on the scene and laying into Viper with venom. A scrappy brawl ensues finishing with Robinson coming out superior. Clearly there's a feud beginning here now. Underwhelming segment but let's see where it goes. (45) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Running Wolf vs Funky Fedora Funky Fedora's first appearance on our screens in two months. A decent but unspectacular match that looked like it was going to be particularly one sided until JLP arrived ringside to the annoyance of Wolf. The distraction offered Fedora the chance to sneak a roll-up on Wolf but could only manage a two count. Wolf regained his bearings, hit Fedora with a Wolf Tamer and was about cover when JLP attacked and took him down with his Devil's Crossroad for the DQ finish. A decent match with a cheap finish to keep generating heat as boos rained down upon JLP as he escorted Fedora from the ring too. (68) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> A backstage segment with three veterans of the game who appear to be shooting the breeze. The overriding story of the segment was Bach & Bruce trying to pep talk Enygma and get him over his apparent crisis of confidence, I guess? He's a former world champion and can still hang on his best day. He's got this. A fun little segment heavily boosted by Bruce & Bach appearing together. I feel we could all get used to that combination. (79) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Enygma vs Davis Wayne Newton w/ Nelson Callum (#1 Contender's Tournament) This match told the story of the savvy 'good guy' veteran trying to overcome the heelish upstart and they told it well. Newton will be one of the best performers in the company one day if they get behind him and if tonight was a sign then get behind him they shall. Ten minutes of action came to a climax when Newton caught Enygma with a low blow that was missed by the ref. He then snatched on the STF and a struggle ensued. Enygma crawled and fought and reached the ropes before Callum pulled them away. The ref caught it and intervened but DWN then went for the mask of Enygma which caused him to panic and be pulled back to the center of the ring. Enygma had no escape routes and tapped out. Good stuff and a big win for Newton. (72) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Callum hops in the ring and starts putting the boots to Enygma and also joins Newton in trying to wrestle his mask off of him. The cavalry arrives in the form of Bruce and Bach but both are quickly followed up by Thompson and Cage and a brawl breaks out with all seven that really gets the fans riled up. Things eventually simmer and Bach declares that he & Enygma will team up next week against any two of the foursome. A good fun segment that continues to build several storylines. (84) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The screen is then split into vertical thirds as Belle Bryden appears between Bulldozer Brandon Smith and Steve Frehley, accompanied by Bubba & Blake. A brief Q&A promo segment occurs which has the two men stating their intentions and building the match. Terrific work from all three that have made this main event feel like an especially special event. (88) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Bulldozer Brandon Smith vs Steve Frehley (#1 Contender's Tournament) The match had a big fight feel going into it and it certainly delivered in spades as these two heavyweight powerhouses brawled and slammed. Smith is on a big upward trajectory of late and has never been more popular while Frehley has never seemed more dominant. The match raged on and Smith got in his fair share of offense but spent a lot of it on the backfoot and trying to stay in contention but Frehley was proving too much. Towards the finish Frehley picked up Smith for a Frehley's Comet but in swinging him round collided with the ref. Smith landed on his feet and quickly caught Frehley in a Tombstone Piledriver and made the cover. He had the 3-count but the ref was out and by the time the slow count began it was only a 2. Frehley quickly fought back as Smith tried to capitalise but Smith's efforts were in vain. Courtesy of Bubba distracting the ref Frehley planted Smith with two kicks to the nethers to crumble the Bulldozer. From there it took 2 Dark Destroyer Spears and a Frehley's Comet to get the job done but the match was over. A terrific contest. Both guys looked great and the fans bought all of it and were incensed at the cheating nature of the win with Smith gaining big favour for his babyface passion and fight! (87) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> A show filled with peaks and troughs that would on a regular day probably rank as one of the less impressive USPW shows under Strong's tenure if not for the great last 30-35 minutes with some fun segments and a brilliant main event. All of that earns it an 83 overall. A good show and I'm intrigued to see how the rest of the month plays out. Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 7. USPW returns to Alberta, Canada this week with American Wrestling coming to us from the Edmonton Grandstand. Zeus and Jack Jackson, representatives of The Business, will be in tag team action as they take on The Texas Express. The bad guy duo will be determined to prove their worth to Money and that they can work as a team while the Express will be looking to get back into tag title contention. Running Wolf is set to do battle with Funky Fedora. It'll be Wolf's first singles match on American Wrestling in seven weeks and Fedora will be sure to prove a formidable opponent. Purple Viper is undefeated so far since debuting in USPW a few weeks ago and faces what could be her first 'real' test in the form of Raven Robinson. We haven't seen Robinson in over a month since her loss to Charity Sweet at Red, White & Blue! and so she'll be back with a point to prove. Davis Wayne Newton takes on Enygma in the first of our two #1 contender's tournament matches. It's a big match for both men but with DWN having the likely backing of the rest of his stablemates, especially after Thompson's loss to Bruce last week, will he have enough to take down the mysterious masked Enygma? And in our main event of the evening, as was alluded to last week, 'The Dark Destroyer' Steve Frehley takes on Bulldozer Brandon Smith in a heavyweight collision that could bring the Grandstand down. Smith is in a fine run of form going undefeated in singles action so far this year as well as avoiding taking the pinfall in any of his team losses. But Frehley has only lost once all year, when teaming with Rich Money, and recently obliterated and pulverized Nicky Champion at Liberty & Justice! It's going to be a great night of action with more unannounced action to come. We'll see you there! This week's American Wrestling is in the books and it's time for our look back, assessment and recap of the show. Let's get into it. USPW American Wrestling emanated from the Mid South this week to 17,000 paying fans, the company's highest attendance of the year for TV. The latest Reverie figures come through at 11,996,259. Let's get into it! <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The show opened with what has become the usual format. A video package that provided a brief recap of the events from Saturday’s Liberty & Justice event. The announce trio then followed up the pyrotechnic show by welcoming us to the broadcast and hyping tonights show with a primary focus on the #1 Contender’s tournament for Money’s World Title. It’s become standard stuff for USPW but they know how to do it well (84) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Roger Cage occupied the ring and cut a promo hyping his in-ring knowledge, savviness and utter brilliance. Cage is clearly heading towards a full blown heel turn here. Continues to tout his greatness and offers an open challenge for the National Title. The challenge is answered by the bonafide Rock Star Sammy Bach! A legitimate surprise to all in attendance and I expect the Reverie audience. He's supposed to be still under contract with TCW! A big ‘pop’ for Bach. The two exchange verbal barbs with Cage putting down Bach as a ‘pass the torch’ talent from the #3 company and he can’t hang anymore. Bach claims that any wrestling Historian will see he’s been misused, mistreated and held down and any follower of wrestling should know better than to doubt him. (87) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Sammy Bach vs Roger Cage © (National Title) A terrific opening contest for TV. 13 minutes of charisma-oozing back and forth action. A match that seemed to cement that Roger Cage may finally have arrived as a major player with what may be his best singles outing in his two year run with the company and a match that proved to any doubters that Sammy Bach can still go. Great action came to a close when Bach, who went for a top rope splash, was caught by Cage who went for the Rage Cage finish but Bach wriggled free and caught Cage with his Adrenaline Shot and secured the 3-count. New champion! An immediate showing of faith from the company in Bach’s talent and pedigree. (81) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Bach celebrates and high-fives fans at ringside. The camera follows him walking through the curtain to the back where he’s greeted and congratulated by the ‘Rock God’ Jack Bruce which gets a big reaction. It’s bizarre to think that these two have never crossed paths on screen before now. Joss Thompson enters the fray to confront Bruce and berate Bach about holding his title. The three share words before Roger Cage appears and puts a beatdown on Bach. The other two get involved with Bruce quick off the mark and laying into Cage before all are separated by backstage officials. Another fiery segment which continues the hot opening. (86) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rich Money is next to appear on our screens. The World Champion has had an interesting journey over the last few months but cuts a brilliant promo here hyping up the tournament to crown a new challenger. He does a fine job of putting over the talent in the company and the four men that he knows are taking part this evening but also makes it clear he’s not a 3-time and current champion by good fortune or luck. He’s still the best in the company and is wiser than everyone else. The World title has sort of fluctuated the last few months to showcase other aspects of the company but Money can still make it seem like the most important thing on a moments notice. Great work. (89) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rick Law vs Big Josh Nash (#1 Contender's Tournament) The match went a shade shy of 10 minutes but delivered on action in spades. A great story told here with Dawn Gemmell and Sterling Whitlock at ringside supporting their talents. Nash utilised his size and strength to great advantage here but Law would not go down. The opportunity of being champion and challenging Nash’s boss proving very inspiring. Whitlock attempted to get involved but was thwarted by Gemmell who pulled him off the apron. Law finished things with his Long Arm of the Law to secure the 3-count and advance to the semi-finals. Probably the best singles match of Nash’s almost 10 year run in the company so far. (76) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> We then cut backstage to a street clothed Nicky Champion with a bag slung over his shoulder stood by Danny Jillefski. The question put to Mr USPW is what comes next for Nicky Champion? But before he could respond Jerry Lee Perkins walks into frame and talks some smack at the expense of Champion. JLP almost appears to be baiting and goading Nicky into a reaction but nothing comes of it. JLP continues the smack talk as Running Wolf enters and JLP backs off. Solid segment. A hurting and almost embarrassed Champion is an interesting propostion and the company continues to try and get Perkins over in associating him with the company icon. Good stuff but JLP isn’t quite popular enough with the audience to be getting the reactions the company is perhaps hoping for. (71) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Jacob Jett vs T-Rex Jett took down the behemoth in tag action four nights ago and T-Rex was bent on revenge here but it didn’t materialise. Jett was accompanied by Moor and Persephone, who we haven’t seen for months now, while Rex choose to go it alone leaving Baine & Deville on the ramp. The match roared on and Rex was comfortably in control ragdolling the lightweight around for fun. Moor got involved and Rex clotheslined him but caught the ref. This allowed Persephone to get involved, plant a firm lowblow kick to bring Rex to his knees but soon drew the ire of him. As she retreated Jett arose with some babyface fire and offense to stun him. Two Emergency Landings later and a slow count eventually hit 3. Jett wins! (63) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The babyfaces leave as Mr Deville and Baine enter the ring. The disgust and embarrassment on show from the duo is evident. Deville berates and belittles Rex and says that it’s time for a change. The Titans are no more and a new ‘titan’ is in place. Enter the debuting Dreadnought. The son of industry legend Dread as a very young but monstrous powerhouse with tremendous pedigree. He draws a decent reaction from the crowd based on sheer size and menace alone, enters the ring and then begins battering and wailing on Rex with emphatic force before leaving with Deville and Baine. Dreadnought is very young for being in the spotlight but with Deville as a mouthpiece and Baine seemingly as a probable mentor and partner this is a very tantalising trio. (60) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Pre-tape promo time with The Dark Destroyer Steve Frehley. He’s angry and confused at his placement in this tournament. Saturday night was clear evidence that he’s above this and should automatically be taking Money’s title. No matter though. He’ll clear the competition as easily as he squashed Champion on Saturday. He also revealed that his opponent next week will be Bulldozer Brandon Smith. Solid promo as usual from Frehley but the news of Frehley vs Smith next week on TV? That’s a very interesting prospect. (82) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> The Sweet Missy's vs The Muscle Monsters The usual storytelling tag team fare here with Missy Masterson & Charity Sweet taking on Juliette King & Glorious Gloria. Strong was on commentary and did a good job with the announce team of putting over Charity Sweet as a contender whilst, of course, putting over herself. The match went a little shy of 8-minutes and ended via count out in favour of the babyfaces when Sweet was on the outside brawling with King, legal partner for her team, and then fighting off a 2v1. The ref called the 10 count and rang the bell before the heels were called off by Strong. (62) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Sweet grabbed a mic and called out and cut a promo on Strong stating what a poor, cowardly excuse for a champion she is constantly getting the minions to do her dirty work. It boiled down to them going to meet in the ring in two weeks. Strong implored the Sweet Missy's to get two more friends, she'll find one and they'll meet 4v4 in two weeks time. Good promo work and Sweet managing to more than hold her own as she's slowly getting over into becoming a star of the division (80) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Natural Storm vs The Cold Warriors A tale as old as time in USPW in a contest we've seen many times over the years but the fans still eat it up and it still delivers a good segment. 8 minutes of good vs evil tag team action. The babyface duo bided their time and Rayne took a bit of a beatdown until the hot tag to Howard who looks revitalised after his brief foray into singles stardom. The Storm Damage finish secured the 3-count in this one. Howard quickly grabbed the mic post-match and stated they were going for the tag titles and will become 7-time champions. Good segment all around and a brief mention of the tag titles to keep them relevant in the masses of people and stories. (69) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> We cut backstage to Sammy Bach sitting proudly with his National Title and nursing his neck with an ice pack. Sitting alongside him is Jack Bruce and the two are talking back and forth about their histories, their presents and their futures. The duo obviously ooze charisma and charm and I could almost feel it pouring through my TV set. The segment ends with Bruce leaving the locker but not before hyping his upcoming match with Joss Thompson and the duo vowing to have each others backs in one of the most glorious, rocking handshakes ever seen on TV. (86) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Jack Bruce vs Joss Thompson Match of the night honors, unsurprisingly, go to the main event though the opener was a close second. 13 minutes of brilliant action and entertainment that showcased the best of Jack Bruce that the fans want to see in this return but also that Thompson could make the perfect dance partner for probably anybody (looking through my previous numbers put his matches at an average rating of 78 by my estimates. Best in the company). Callum and Newton made their presences known but Thompson kept waving them off, appreciative of their help, but arrogantly wanting to prove he can do this solo. It wasn't to be however. In the closing moments he attempted a Clean Cutter which Bruce avoided and capitalised on with two New York Minutes to get the pinfall. Good stuff and Bruce needs more of this in his return before tangling with the undercard guys in my opinion. (83) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Predictable chaos in the post-match with Callum & Newton hitting the ring and putting the boots to Bruce and wailing on the Icon. True to their agreement 20 minutes ago, Sammy Bach flew to the ring to a big reaction and began to unload on The Undesirables but was cut off by Roger Cage who had swiftly followed him down to the ring. Thompson recovered and waved all three off before planting Bach & Bruce with a Clean Cutter each. Then the foursome exited the ring and walked up the ramp together to close the show. It seems that Cage has joined the trio who don't seem to have a collective name for now but this is a great group who should gel together. (79) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Alicia Strong has certainly found her groove as a booker and appears to have a good collective grasp on the company and the stories she wants to tell which have made for compelling viewing. The acquisition of Sammy Bach, very surprising given the rumor seems to suggest that Allen Packer isn't keen on signing talent from bigger companies, is a solid move. Yes, he's 41 years old and it's another ageing talent but it would seem he can still go and at this stage of his career he may be better suited to USPW than TCW for a bit of rejuvenation and not go stale. Overall I'll give this an 84 and I would argue that it could be, top to bottom, their best TV of the year. It falls short of the Bruce debut episode but that was a loaded show at the opening and end with a softer middle. Good stuff all in all. Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 15. Catching up on this. Tennessee William is absolutely one of my favourite C-Verse characters and his exit was... *chef's kiss*... perfection. I've toyed with ideas for NYCW in the past so happy to see this one moving along. Good stuff.

  17. Promising start. And that's a reasonable clearing out of the undercard off the bat. Looking forward to seeing how we move forward.
  18. With another special event in the books in the form of Liberty & Justice we roll right along to American Wrestling this Wednesday night and survey the aftermath of Saturday night. Natural Storm will be back in tag team action as they take on the duo of The Cold Warriors. These two have had some wars over the years but this marks the first time that Howard & Rayne have been in two vs two action in two months. Can they pick up back where they left off after Howards recent foray into World Championship contention? Flight & Might emerged successfully from their tag title defense on Saturday night vs The Titans and Jett toppled T-Rex convincingly in the process. This has only upset the big man more than he usually is and so we'll see Jett vs T-Rex this Wednesday night. In tag team action will be the newly named team the Sweet Missy's made up of Charity Sweet & Missy Masterson. They'll take on Alicia Strong's back-up in the form of the The Muscle Monsters. Sweet has made it clear that she intends to challenge for the Women's Title. The outcome of this could aid or hurt her cause. And as was announced on Saturday Throwdown, prior to Liberty & Justice, an 8-man tournament will take place over the next four weeks with the winner challenging the World Champion at Freedom Fight! We now know that the champion is still Rich Money. The first two matches in the tournament will take place Wednesday night. Rick Law will face off against Big Josh Nash. Both men came off victories on Saturday night so have momentum on their side. With Money's enforcer involved in the tournament could this dictate how matches play out? The main event of the evening and second match of the tournament will see the 'Rock God' Jack Bruce take on 'The Complete Package' Joss Thompson. All of this and more in what will be a thrilling night of action no doubt. See you there. If you wish to catch up on any of the previous write-ups for USPW please click the links down below. 21. If I have a big enough roster for a brand split then I'd do it to differentiate the rosters but otherwise I don't bother. My question is once people name their feud (whether it's "person A vs Person B" or a storyline name) does anybody fill out the text box underneath with, presumably, their reasons for feuding?
  22. Happy to have you along for the ride and I appreciate the positive feedback on the show. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

We cut to our three person announce team who welcome us to the broadcast and hype the events and matches to come of the evening as only they can. The stage is set for another terrific night of USPW action as they throw it to the ring for the opening contest. Force's future world title opportunities were on the line here and it was a great last hurrah for the painted warrior as a challenger who hasn't been champion in almost 15 years but holds the second most reigns in history. He gave it a great effort with his usual array of powerhouse moves and at one point caught the champion, who was attempting a crossbody, in mid-air and hoisted him up for a crushing Full Force Jackhammer resulting in a 2.7 count but that was as close as he got. Money is as wise as they come and allowed Force to tire himself out before capitalising. An emphatic Bank Roll followed up by his Dollars From Heaven frog splash was enough for Money to retain the title and enter month number nine as USPW World Champion. Winner: Rich Money (Rich Money makes defence number 11 of the USPW World Title) Rating: 73 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> USPW Tag Team Championship Flight & Might [vs] The Titans Three towering physical specimens of the human form and a high flying lightweight made up the combatants here. Jett may have been the smallest guy in the ring but he ran the show tonight and did absolutely everything he could to ensure he and Moor would emerge still as champions. Baine & Rex clearly looked to Julius Moor as the bigger threat to their title challenge and together did all they could to eliminate him but they completely overlooked "The Amazing" Jett. Moor & Baine took their fight to the outside which left Jett to do his thing. He stunned The Jurassic Power and landed back-to-back Jett Take-Off's (Top Rope Flying DDT) and instantly followed that up with double Emergency landings (450 splashes). Baine got the better of Moor and watched on as Rex ate the offence and couldn't muster a fight back. He also watched and didn't intervene when Jett covered the Super Heavyweight for a count of 3. Winners: Flight & Might (Flight & Might make defence number 6 of the USPW World Tag Titles) Rating: 69 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> USPW Womens Championship Alicia Strong © [vs] Sara Marie Strong and Marie have a sort of intangible chemistry that doesn't come along often and is rarely duplicated. With nine title reigns between them (8-1 in favour of Strong) there's a lot of prestige between the two and both women put on a technical clinic here that was very appreciated by the USPW fanbase. A match littered with submission holds and reversals to those holds with near pinfalls galore. Ultimately the technical side began to fade away as they often found themselves equal to the other. Sara Marie kept things honest with her varied moveset and had the better of Strong so the champion began to resort to underhanded tactics. Hair pulling and eye pokes drew heat but the challenger was undeterred and continued to rally. Her Energy Burst finish off the ropes was met with a superkick that dazed the challenger long enough for Strong to land her Strong Arm Tactic and secure the 3-count to retain her championship. Winner: Alicia Strong (Strong makes defence number 1 of her USPW Women's Championship) Rating: 90 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Rick Law & Running Wolf [vs] Big Bubba & Tavon Blake Bubba & Blake have been effective but not dominant as the recently recruited back-up to Steve Frehley whilst Law & Wolf have been established singles stars for a number of years how who have stood by the side of Nicky Champion. This was a fairly paint by numbers match with the little and large duo of Blake & Bubba using underhanded tactics combined with Bubba's overwhelming strength and Blake's swift and precise strikes to suppress the fan favourites but they couldn't be suppressed for long and Law & Wolf worked beautifully together in their comeback spots so isolate Blake from the predatory presence of Bubba. A Long Arm of the Law followed up by a Wolf Tamer was enough to put down Tavon Blake and pick up the 3-count for the babyfaces. Winners: Rick Law & Running Wolf Rating: 65 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Big Josh Nash [vs] Jumbo Jackson Nash, formerly Atlas, turned on Jumbo over a month ago after they kept coming up short in tag battles due to Jumbo's bad knee. Nash was unveiled as Rich Money's new 'Insurance Policy' and Jackson is not content to let it go down like that. This was a sprint of a beefy brawl between two goliaths who clobbered the heck out of each other. Ultimately Nash and his new found vicious streak was intent on hurting Jackson more and after a brawl on the outside he planted Jackson with a Kronus Bomb onto the steel steps. He then landed another onto the super heavyweight in the ring that looked like it could result in the ring imploding upon impact. 3 seconds later and Nash looked content with crushing his ex-partner in a little over 4 minutes. Winner: Big Josh Nash Rating: 39 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Jerry Lee Perkins - Jack Bruce We're treated to the usual flashy video package from the USPW production team that showcases the brief feud so far between Perkins & Bruce. From each man's respective debuts in a hyped 20-minute window to Perkins landing the first guitar blow to signal the war between Country & Rock it's treated with flash, pomp and circumstance. Perkins is shown as the arrogant and cocky up and comer from NYCW roots whilst Bruce is presented as the glorified and revered Rock God and the biggest star in the business, which he may well still be. Rating: 78 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Jack Bruce [vs] Jerry Lee Perkins Both men ooze charisma and the match opened with showboating and taunting. Bruce engaged JLP in some chain wrestling in the early goings proving to Perkins and the masses that he can still go and mix it up when required. Eventually JLP grew frustrated with being bettered and resorted to eye pokes, back rakes and hair pulling to regain the advantage and start putting a hurt on the legend. The match continued in this fashion with JLP drinking in the boos and jeers of the crowd. In the latter third Bruce began to rally back but an Irish whip in the corner resulted in the ref going down and JLP seizing the opportunity to low blow Bruce and roll to the outside to collect his guitar. He strummed a few chords while waiting for Bruce to get to his feet, using the ropes to do so. With Bruce against the ropes, JLP took a few practice swings and then swung the guitar at the head of Bruce. The Rock God ducked out of the way, the guitar bounced off the top rope and catapulted straight back into the head of JLP flattening him out. Bruce recovered, bounced off the rope and flattened JLP again as he was recovering with a crushing New York Minute (V-Trigger) Winner: Jack Bruce Rating: 69 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> USPW National Championship Joss Thompson © [vs] Bulldozer Brandon Smith [vs] Casey Valentine [vs] Roger Cage This fatal 4 way had all of the usual fast-paced and exciting action that has been a staple of the National Title scene over the past month. Initially the foursome broke off into pairs with it turning into Valentine & Smith vs Cage & Thompson. Naturally a 4 way match has no count outs and the competitors were very aware of this as a lot of the action took place on the outside with people being hurled into barricades and battered off announce tables. Thompson never strayed too far from the wrong when he could help it though as, of course, he could lose the title without being involved in the finish. The quick paced action continued to flow as it built to the finish. Cage threw himself from the top rope for a flying crossbody attempt on Valentine but was intervened by Thompson with a Clean Cutter. Thompson ate a Deep Impact from Valentine and this left the two allies in Valentine & Smith to go at it. They traded blows until CV was hurled into the corner. Smith followed after at a quick pace but Valentine dodged and Smith crashed headfirst into the turnbuckle leaving the big man dazed. Valentine was gearing himself up for his Deep Impact on his friend but was taken by surprise when he found himself rolled up by Cage. Using the tights as leverage Cage held on with all the force he could muster. Bulldozer came around a second too late and threw himself towards the roll-up but the ref had counted and Cage had regained his championship. Winner: Roger Cage (Cage becomes a 2x National Champion) Rating: 77 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Nicky Champion - Steve Frehley A promo package flashed on the screen and was played to all that recapped the history of the Champion vs Frehley feud that started in 2016. It featured clips of previous bouts including Frehley dethroning Champion as World Champion back in 2015 and Frehley putting Champion on the shelf for a few months back at Thanksgiving Thunder. We also see Mr USPW's numerous reigns as world champion and his own victories over Frehley. The package bestowed hype and prestige on the bout and that this would be the biggest match yet. Rating: 97 <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Nicky Champion [vs] Steve Frehley This match had a real 'big fight' feel to it and the sell out crowd in attendance were salivating over the prospect of this match and what was to come but I doubt anybody would have expected this. Frehley hadn't been in action in the last two weeks and looked like he'd been lifting thousands of pounds of weights at the gym. A Frehley's Comet in the first 30 seconds with a near fall set the tone of what was to come. Suplexes, powerbombs, slams and spears were all that The Dark Destroyer was willing to offer up for offense and it was all that was required. Champion had a few brief glimmers of hope with a surprise Hawkeye Hammer that caught Frehley off guard but could only muster a two count. The surprise just appeared to annoy Frehley more as he instantly fired back with a Dark Destroyer Spear and then not one, not two but three Frehley's Comets to obliterate Champion and secure the pinfall and victory. An incredibly dominant display from The Dark Destroyer to the shock of and awe of everyone at seeing Champion manhandled in this way. Winner: Steve Frehley Rating: 85 </div>
