Feedback on the format is welcomed. It's scaled back which is to keep in with the time period but also avoid burning myself out from writing. They'll be a bit beefier likely for the bigger shows.
  2. Thank you for the early support friends. Thrilled to have you all checking in. First show/preview will likely be up at some point this evening or tomorrow morning.
  3. Really fun time period to play around with. Look forward to seeing what you've got coming this way.

  6. 1982 outside of the business was a year of President Reagan declaring a War on Drugs', the Falklands War, an assassination attempt on Saddam Hussein, the introduction of Compact Disc Players and Charles Brooks Jr. becoming the first person in US history to be executed by lethal injection. In the wrestling business industry legends such as Fritz Von Erich, Buddy Rogers and El Santo would all retire from in-ring action. WWF Champion Bob Backlund would battle to a 'no contest' vs NWA Champion Ric Flair and Hollywood would cross paths with wrestling as the feud between Jerry Lawler & Andy Kaufman would make headlines across the country. 1983 would be the year outside the wrestling business that the ARPANET officially changes to using the Internet Protocol, creating the Internet. Compact Discs and players are released for the first time in the United States and other markets outside of Japan and President Ronald Reagan calls the Soviet Union an "evil empire" before nine months later signing a bill creating Martin Luther King Day. In the wrestling business going into 1983? Nick Bockwinkel is still AWA champion thanks to his manager Bobby Heenan but they continue to have a young gun named Hulk Hogan nipping at their heels fresh off his Hollywood stint as Thunderlips in Rocky III but Verne Gagne seems reluctant to pull the trigger. The NWA and their overarching territory system are still very much alive and well with Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (also known as Jim Crockett Promotions) being the flag bearer for the alliance whilst Georgia Championship Wrestling continues to retain it's coveted national timeslot on TBS having recently changed the shows name to World Championship Wrestling. And Vince McMahon Jr. has officially taken over control of the WWF from his father Vince Sr with his first move to be pulling the company from the NWA. Jim Barnett was brought in to steady the ship of Georgia Championship Wrestling and had done a fine job but in late 83' he would sell of his shares of the company to a conglomerate of NWA wrestlers and relinquish control. We're gonna bring that forward a few months to the beginning of the year but instead of being headed by the Jack & Jerry Brisco it will be headed by Dusty Rhodes, my UC for this journey, who left his spot as booker in Florida to run GCW alongside Ole Anderson. TV and it's write-ups will be kept relatively simple and basic to stay in keeping with the presentation of the products for that time too. Events will likely be slightly more fleshed out. The only alteration I've made to the data is making the NWA World Tag Titles an alliance belt as opposed to an only MACW belt. So the World Title and World Tag are alliance belts. Welcome to

  10. Agreed with the above. RW might be your flavour but give everything a shot and see how it goes. There's plenty of great CVerse dynasties there (I'll be shameless and plug my effort with Historian and Raider). Even if diaries don't run prediction contests, taking the time out yourself to leave a comment and feedback on the show works wonder for the writers. I know it gives me a boost when readers comment on stories. Falling_Star has a WCW 92' dynasty that is running and has a contest. Dalton is running a current AEW one. Piper's Pit & Kimberly have had their current WWE effort running for a good few months now with consistent content. Just pick one and read a couple of shows to see how it goes fella.

  12. <div style="padding: 10px; border: 10px solid #261930; margin:10px;background: #bb8be0; max-width:70%;box-shadow: 0 3px 12px ";"> Hello and welcome to this special edition of the Behind The Curtain Podcast with me, Jo-Ro. This week's American Wrestling is in the books and it's time for our look back, assessment and recap of the show. Let's get into it. American Wrestling was once again in The Dust Bowl in back-to-back weeks to an audience of 14,911 which is an increase of just over 2,000 from the same venue last week. Latest figures from Reverie put the viewing figures at 12,135,665 which beats last weeks rating and sets this as the new highest rating for 'TV'. Let's dig in. Segment 1: The show opened with a very well assembled promo package showcasing the events of last weeks show coupled with highlighting some of the ongoing stories. Jack Bruce, Jerry Lee Perkins, Eddie Howard, Rich Money, Nicky Champion & Steve Frehley were the focus of the package. This was punctuated with the announce team hyping tonights upcoming show. A great start. (89) Segment 2: The Queen of Social Media Jaime Quine got the show proper started with a promo putting the women's division on notice and vowing revenge on Sara Marie for last weeks embarrassment. She claims that she knows 'Purple Viper' is debuting tonight and so she wants to be the first to face the debutant and put her down before she's started. Good promo from Quine (66) Segment 3: Jaime Quine vs Purple Viper A lukewarm reception was given to Purple Viper who has only had a week's worth of hype about her but the superhero-esque Luchadora certainly had the younger demo of the audience on her side. Quine's ego got the absolute better of her as her arrogance proved her downfall. Vipers lightning quick aerial attacks and flash caught the former champion completely off-guard and in a shade less than 5-minutes Viper had stunned the almost sell-out audience by winning via the use of her spectacular Viper Bite finish. A decent opening with a surprising result that may have garnered a better score if Viper had been built up better. But we know she's a big deal now! (52) Segment 4: Quine is once again furious at this stunning loss. She grabs a steel chair and clobbers Viper several times before sitting on it in the middle of the ring. She cuts a seething promo about how she is still the best in the division and refuses to leave until she gets a rematch. The stand-off lasts a minute as she continues to proclaim that she won't leave. Security end up hitting the ring and escorting her out as she screams "Fine! I QUIT!". A quirky little segment that was fine but definitely feeds into the rumors backstage that Quine and the company can't come to terms on a new deal for now and she could be exploring options. Watch this space. (56) Segment 5: The Titans enter the arena in a fiery blaze of pyrotechnics amidst the darkness. Their 'manager' reveals his name to be Blackfyre Deville, the advocate for The Titans and any and all evil-doers who require his services. Claims Baine & Rex are stronger than ever before and will beat Texas off the map. Good promo here from the gothic figure and he can clearly talk his ass off. Will only gain better ratings as he gains popularity. (62) Segment 6: The Texas Express vs The Titans Cooper & Trenneman were looking to bounce back after their title match at Red, White & Blue! and gave it everything they had. Evenly fought throughout until a hot tag to Christie shifted momentum to the Express. They had T-Rex reeling but Blackfyre screamed to grab the referee's attention and slid a steel chair into the ring towards Christie. The hesitation and confusion this caused was enough of a delay to give Baine time to tag Rex and land his Hades Bomb for the 1-2-3 after the ref returned to the action. (67) Segment 7: Backstage with Joss Thompson, DWN & Callum now as JT hypes up the duo and insists on their need to put a hurt on Smith and halt the big mans progress. The duo affirm they'll do what they must and have the back of their leader at all costs. A fun little backstage skit here that scores high because of the natural talking chops and charisma of this threesome. The longer this trio stay together the better in my opinion as they'll all help elevate each other. (75) Segment 8: Melody, Pariah & Sara-Marie vs The Triumvirate Arguably the four biggest stars the womens division has to offer plus The Muscle Monsters made up this tag bout. A solid match throughout the 12-minutes of action came to an end when the heels collectively ran riot in the ring ignoring the referee's 5-count. Referee Rob Perkins couldn't regain control of the contest and disqualified the heel contingency. A decent match. An underwhelming finish but it keeps the heat on Strong and doesn't make the faces look weak for a loss. Understandable. (63) Segment 9: As the chaos calms slightly Strong grabs a microphone at the top of the ramp and cuts a promo on the three women in the ring. She encourages the three to have a triple threat match next week as she's only facing one of them at Liberty & Justice as she's not an idiot like Quine! Good promo as expected from the champ. (73) Segment 10: Jack Bruce & Enygma hit the ring and called out JLP who obliged. A promo back-and-forth ensued where the end result would be that Bruce & Enygma would face Thatcher & Ducont (Heavy Duty) next week in tag team action as it seems JLP is deflecting Bruce for now. A fine angle but supremely underwhelming given it involved Bruce. His first match in USPW will be against Thatcher & Ducont?! I get using Bruce to elevate JLP but this announcement underwhelmed all of us. (64) Segment 11: Bulldozer Brandon Smith & Casey Valentine vs The Undesirables Four guys who can work their asses off did just that in this solid tag team match. The heels utilised their heelish ways to keep on top of the match and managed to isolate Smith to keep the big man grounded and put a hurt on him. DWN snatched on the STF on Smith but Dozer refused to tap. He made a reach for the ropes but Callum pulled them away. Smith would rather have passed out than tapped out and Valentine saw enough, managed to tag himself in by using all of his 6ft frame and rolled-up DWN for the quick 3-count and the babyface victory. A good match where everyone still looked strong, especially Smith who it would appear the company are very high on. (70) Segment 12: Champion & Wolf pre-match promo now as they hype themselves and continue to build upon the established rivalry with Frehley and co. A classic babyface promo that will always rate reasonably highly because we know Champion can talk and Wolf continues to improve. (79) Segment 13: Nicky Champion & Running Wolf vs Steve Frehley & Big Bubba One of these four names is not like the others. Bubba's association with Frehley is definitely aiding his cause to get over but he looked out of his depth particularly tonight. Still a good tag match that served it's storyline purposes. Bubba put a big hurt on Wolf (legal man) before tackling Champion to the outside and restraining him in a suffocating bear hug. This allowed Frehley to land his Frehley's Comet on Wolf and pick up the 3-count and at the moment Frehley is being booked to look unstoppable. (73) Segment 14: There hasn't been much hype around the main event throughout the course of the evening until now where the tech team worked their magic and put together a compelling video package detailing the feud between Money and Howard so far that led us to this Steel Cage World Title match. (85) Segment 15: USPW World Title Eddie Howard vs Rich Money © (Steel Cage Match) Maybe it was the prestige of the cage but this was a great main event and and an improvement on their last outing 2 weeks ago. 13-minutes of hard-hitting, metal clanging action with Howard getting his licks in and using his heavyweight frame to his advantage. He was looking good for the win and smart for his choice of match in that it can keep people out but it can't keep items out which worked out well for the champion in a No DQ stip. Big Josh Nash grabbed Money's title belt from ringside and caught Howard's attention. So much so that it allowed Money to tackle Howard into the cage and stun the heavyweight after his skull hit the steel. The belt was lofted into the ring over the cage straight to Money who clobbered Howard a few times to leave him laying. Not content, Money ascended to the top of the cage and to the rapturous ovation and noise from those in attendance landed his patented Dollars From Heaven frog splash on Howard for huge emphasis and successfully retained his title. (81) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> Another good night for USPW. The show didn't hit last weeks heights but that was a high bar they set so this show gets another 81. The second hour was better than the first and they continue to tell interesting stories with their big roster but it is unfortunately leaving deserving talents on the sidelines. Remember Charity Sweet finally getting her big win over Robinson and catching fire with the fans a few weeks back? What's her reward? Apparently being taken off TV. Perhaps the B-show will help keep talent moving. Perhaps a second show or a thinning of the roster is required? I'm not sure. Ultimately USPW & Strong are doing far more right than wrong at the moment as is evident in ratings and quality but their follies can't be ignored. Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 13. The 10th iteration of USPW American Wrestling for 2020 is coming to you this Wednesday from the South East again. Let's have a quick look at the night ahead and see what's in store. Jaime Quine will be in action in some capacity after suffering a loss last week to Sara Marie. Quine was incensed at the defeat and will be calling out the division on the microphone on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday, as it pertains to the Women's division, we'll see The Triumvirate (Strong & The Muscle Woman) up against Pariah, Melody & Sara-Marie in six-women tag action. The Titans will be continuing to exert their force over the tag team ranks (especially after Baine's defeat of Moor in singles action last week) and they'll be taking on the recent challengers for the titles The Texas Express. It's a tall order for the young duo but a win here would continue to work wonders for them. Bulldozer Brandon Smith took some by surprise when he beat Joss Thompson in last weeks terrific main-event. This week he'll team with friend Casey Valentine to take on The Undesirables duo of Davis Wayne Newton & Nelson Callum. The young team have aligned themselves strongly with the National Champion and will be looking to serve him well by halting the progress of Bulldozer & Valentine. Steve Frehley & Big Bubba will be taking on Nicky Champion & Running Wolf in tag team action as the rivalry between these four (plus Law & Blake) rolls on. It seems we're moving towards Champion vs Frehley at Liberty & Justice! so this will continue to serve as an interesting appetizer and tantalising contest. In the main event we have Rich Money's World Championship on the line as he defends vs Eddie Howard in a Steel Cage! The match will end within the confines of the cage. No escapes and this came at the request of Howard who feels that he could legitimately beat Money & take his title if The Business can't enter the ring. Money's arrogance knowns no bounds and thinks it won't matter and he'll still walk out as champion. As you can see it's going to be an action-packed evening with a lot to digest and we hope to see you there! 16. American Wrestling returned to The Dust Bowl in the South East to an audience of 12,677 for the first show post Red, White & Blue! Latest figures from Reverie put the viewing figures at 12,122,192 which puts it as the highest viewed 'TV' of the year. Let's dip in to what was a great night for USPW Segment 1: The show opened with the highly anticipated debut of the 'God Of Rock' which turned out to be none other than Jack Bruce. The fans came collectively unglued as Bruce shows that there is still nobody in the business who can quite capture an audience the way he does. He cut a passionate, fiery promo recapping his history in the business, the final chapter may yet be his best and he'll make a great first line. He laid out a challenge to Nicky Champion for USPW's biggest show of the year Independence Day Slam four months from now. We even had a brief appearance from Champion welcoming Bruce to USPW and accepting the challenge. Outstanding opening segment. TV highlight of the year already. Even the most critical of USPW & Bruce viewers had to be impressed by this. (100) Segment 2: We'll class this as two different segments. As Bruce was walking up the ramp he was interrupted by a Country themed song that signalled the arrival of Jerry Lee Perkins, formerly known as Tennessee William, the 'God of Country'. He instantly raised his accompanying acoustic guitar over his head before cracking it over the head of Bruce and grabbing a mic fuming about the fact that everytime his 'promo piece' aired it was followed up and overshadowed by Bruce's and now it was his turn. Two seperate debuts deserve two different ratings. It was a good segment instantly creates a buzz about JLP even if it didn't come close to living up to the opening of the show. (69) Segment 3: Jaime Quine vs Sara Marie We instantly followed that up with a great contest here. Quine is still hurting over her championship loss and so was vulnerable with Sara Marie capitalising and pinning the former champion. Pity it wasn't for the originally planned title match. Backstage rumors suggest that Marie was still working with a niggling injury here but the match went ahead as there are things going on with Quine. A solid opening match. (68) Segment 4: Quine is furious, cuts a promo berating the audience and vowing to make it up to her followers next week before getting full revenge. Sara Marie celebrates and called out Alicia Strong as she wants her 'earned' title match at the champion. This was good, strong mic work from both women and every segment has been a winner so far. (77) Segment 5: And the hot segment streak ends at 4. A short package looked to build hype to the debut (another one!) of a superhero-esque luchadora by the name of Purple Viper. A campy and fun video with a character that may appeal to kids but given the tone of the evening it fell completely flat and the live audience didn't seem to care. (19) Segment 6: Miss American Pie vs Killer Kass A reasonable 6-minute match here that highlighted the menace and strength of Kass. MAP is an easy babyface to support win or lose and Kass, after the battle royal showing, built some nice momentum here with a win via some heavy powerspots. (56) Segment 7: Lionel Greenwood is backstage and catches up with JLP who turns on the southern heel shtick/charm and professes his greatness as a musician and wrestler. He introduces his entourage which are Thatcher & Ducont and points out that Money's trash is his treasure and "The best is yet to come!". Solid promo work. (56) Segment 8: Tyson Baine vs Julius Moor The term 'big meaty men slappin meat' has become popular over the past few years and that's exactly what this was. 9-minutes worth. Moor, ex-pro footballer, has been well taken care of in his 5 year tenure and a singles match against Baine isn't to be snuffed at. The demonic Baine can still work at 49 years old and ended this one via his Hades Bomb after an aided distraction from his mysterious manager in the second best match of the evening. (71) Segment 9: Rich Money and The Business entered the ring after the break. He boasted of his victory on Saturday and introduces his new insurance policy. Gimmick names don't work in 'The Business' (maybe someone should remind Money of Zeus) and that Atlas is now Big Josh Nash. Howard interrupted the backslapping and claimed Saturday was BS and he wants one more shot with no interference. A Steel Cage match next week. Challenge accepted. Good segment. (73) Segment 10: The Muscle Monsters vs Pariah & Melody King & Gloria's association with Strong is good for them in exposure but as workers there just not at a high enough level yet. The match was carried by Pariah and Melody who themselves had a bit of an off night it seemed but the live audience still enjoyed it up. The monsters but a big hurt on their opponents but Melody's experience outsmarted them and she picked up the win for the babyfaces. (64) Segment 11: Pre-match promos now. Frehley hyping up Blake and Champion hyping up Law with both competitors taking time to say their piece as well. Everyone here can talk and the promos are continuing to give longevity to this six-man rivalry that the six-man tag on Saturday night apparently couldn't settle. We all know it's going to eventually lead to a showdown between Champion and Frehley so let's stick with the journey til we get there. (83) Segment 12: Rick Law vs Tavon Blake Law's involvement in this rivalry is working wonders for him as he seems to have soared in popularity recently with more vocal reactions from the crowd of late. Blake can definitely work well in the ring but doesn't appear to be catching on with crowds as quickly as Bubba (presumably because he's not a big Heavyweight. You know what USPW can be like). The match was solid with some nice trading back and forth of action and Law doing all he can to try and elevate Blake but the enforcer took the victory in a little less than 10 minutes. (69) Segment 13: We catch a glimpse backstage of Jack Bruce, our first sighting of the Rock God since the start of the show, nursing his head with an ice pack and talking to the doctor. A knock on the door is followed by the arrival of Enygma who hasn't been since his loss to Thompson four weeks ago. The two veterans embrace, discuss their supreme history and Enygma states that if Bruce wants a second by his side that he'd be honored to be the guy. The two shake hands to end the segment. A fun little segment that 'popped' the live crowd, told a short story and ensures Enygma's relevance siding with the hottest commodity in wrestling after tonight. (84) Segment 14: Not much has been said of the upcoming main event this evening until now when Thompson and Smith both cut backstage promos hyping up the contest. Both men cut tremendous promos hyping the importance of this match to both and putting each other over. Thompson has been 'on-fire' lately and is riding a big wave of momentum after just becoming National Champion and Smith has caught that same wave after Saturday. Excellent segment. (91) Segment 15: Joss Thompson vs Bulldozer Brandon Smith The match went five seconds shy of fifteen minutes but it felt like they could have gone another fifteen as this match can comfortably be called USPW's best match of the year so far. Scintillating back and forth action with changes of momentum. The crowd ate into it beautifully and embraced the heelish antics as both men gave it their all. Ultimately, perhaps to the surprise of some, Smith picked up the clean victory after he caught JT attempting a Clean Cutter from the second rope, hoisted him into the air and crushed him with a devastating tombstone piledriver. (87) <div style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0);font-family:Roboto;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;border-top:6px solid rgb(0,0,0);"></div> A great night for USPW all around. Jack Bruce is back in professional wrestling and in USPW for the first time ever in a fantastic segment that people will be buzzing about for weeks and months til we get a first ever showdown between Bruce & Champion. The meat and middle portion of the show was consistently good and the whole night was topped off with the company's best match of the year so far following great promo work from Thompson and Smith. The best 'TV' show of the year so far and it's unlikely to be topped soon but you never know. An 87 is a very reasonable rating Til next time friends, I'm Jo-Ro. 20. USPW is back 'home' in the South East for American Wrestling in what is sure to be an exciting episode of action in the aftermath of Red, White & Blue! The first thing(s) that we know are happening Wednesday are two new debuting talents. One being a "God of Rock" and the other being a "God of Country". The rumor mill has been intense over the past few weeks with many excited about whom they believe the "God of Rock" will be. But no one can be 100% sure so we'll need to tune in to find out. Jaime Quine lost the Women's Title in the main event on Saturday night and will look to bounce back as she fights whom was to originally be her opponent in Sara Marie. There's no title to fight for but we can be sure that Sara Marie will still be giving it her all to win. Tyson Baine will make his return to 'TV' as he fights one half of the tag team champions in Julius Moor in what is sure to be an intense affair as these two big heavyweights come to blows in a 'big boys slappin' meat' affair. Baine & T-Rex returned to wreak havoc in the aftermath of the tag title bout on Saturday accompanied by an unnamed figure. Perhaps details will be revealed this week? Killer Kass takes on Miss American Pie in singles action. These two have been mostly unfeatured over the past few months but Kass put in a strong performance in the Battle Royal last week and will look to build on that. We also have Pariah & Melody teaming up to take on Strong's Muscle Monsters as we continue to come to terms with Strong emerging victorious in the 4-way and becoming an 8-time women's champion. Rick Law goes one-on-one vs Tavon Blake after both featured in the 6-man tag on Saturday night. In the main event we have new National Champion 'The Complete Package' Joss Thompson in non-title action against Bulldozer Brandon Smith. Both men come into this one with momentum on their side and it's sure to be a terrific main event. Plus Rich Money, still World Champion, will address the events of his title defence at Red, White & Blue! as we saw Atlas aid the champion in stopping Eddie Howard. As you can see it's going to be an action-packed evening with a lot to digest and we hope to see you there!
