  1. Yea having a hot storylines, high prestige gimmick match, high prestige belt or good enough workers should cancel out the normal penalty. I don’t think most of those bonuses exist.

A match that is not normally accepted in a company should get away with not being crapped on if the storyline is hot enough. Of course this match shouldn’t rate as the highest rated match ever because it’s a gimmick match in a none gimmick company but these are some of the exceptions that should exist in the game.

  2. Yea seem like the game is going through an identity crisis. Not sure if it wants to be a wrestling booking sim or a fantasy booker and the overall game is suffering because of it. Whether it’s the sandbox crowd that feel restricted with limitations or the sim crowd who want a challenge and feel that the game is too easy because it’s being less forgiving in favor of more freedom.

Should probably built the game as a sim while give us options to turn majority of things off.

  4. I mean if you chose to use an 'OP cheat' in game then that's your decision. But I can't even count the amount of managers that have become as popular, if not more so, than the talent they managed. Paul Heyman and Lesnar is the best current example. I think people are genuinely more excited to yell along with him during Lesnar's entrance then they are about the damn match. Zelina Vega is more popular than any of her cronies. Sable. Sunny. Dude I could go on but, I disagree with your assessment.

It’s not a cheat when it’s working as intended. It’s just too overpowered.

You’re basically telling me not to use any managers.

Btw all the managers you just named did more then just accompany someone.

They all either talked or were in angles so yea I disagree with you...

  5. Sorry to bump this, but has there been any progress to resolve this problem? I might've missed some patch notes, but in my recent games pretty much all companies are still rolling in the cash. The ones I end up "playing", by which I mean "trying to screw up everything as much as possible", end up with me being rewarded for bad gameplay, and it's pretty demoralizing.

I can't stress enough the importance of this aspect in "manager" games. You get a bunch of options to play with, and I'm sure they all work as intended, but when all you get as a reward is a little extra cash to throw on top of the pile, it doesn't feel rewarding to me. Maybe that's just me.

Playing the big 3, I can literaly do everything there is to do in a potential TEW game over the course of the demo, except of course getting those A* matches or events. You can max out everything with the money you get from the start.

Another thing is that this sips through to other managerial aspects of the game, namely roster management. That is easy enough as it is, with all companies starting at 100% backstage atmosphere. I even think one company I tried had 150% as I screwed up a lot of things deliberately and it just wouldn't go down. If workers somehow end up with bad morale, you can just give them some sweet 10K check and they'll be fine. Maybe their personalities might change eventually (unsure if that's a thing), but it won't matter as backstage is 100+% anyway.

If you're doing your best to do things right, and then you're doing your best to do things wrong, and the end results is not that far from each other, you just start ignoring the management alltogether and this becomes just a booking game. (which is fine: WMMA5 is a booking game with poor management but that's not what most people are looking for in that game) TEW16 somehow seemed like things mattered more and that you made a difference in that locker room. I'm not getting that at all so far in TEW20 (again: might just be me, that's why I'm checking here if I'm the only one :p).

There haven’t been any updates in these aspects yet.

  9. Hey man, I never said numbers couldn't remain, and if you look at my follow up to LloydCross I said it would be desirable to have the option to represent it many ways. Everyone has their preferences and their reasons for having them.

I haven't kept up with the discussion on why TEW2020 has numbers for everything and you can no longer represent those differently. I also always preferred when worker skills could be descriptions and I would set scouting to 8 or below so I could get them, or had a grade option. It's just TEW2020 can be bit of a bitch if you have dyscalculia.

Lol i used to set scouting on everyone to the lowest because I enjoyed the descriptions as well.

  10. Somewhat off topic but another thing that I wouldn’t mind changing is booking time overall. I think it would be better if time was booked in ranges. Maybe 7-10 minutes, 10-13 minutes etc. it really don’t make sense for a person to be fatigue for a 7 minute match but would be perfectly fine for a 6 minute match.

This could also open up a scenario where a selfish worker would go over his allocated time and you’ll have to make adjustments to other segments.

  11. Yea if penalties are going to stare you in the face in blood red, then the game need to also show you money green bonuses for things like the match/angle having high storyline heat, bonuses for a high prestige title being associated. Some of those bonuses should offset minor penalties like a match or angle going on too long.

I would also like to see match prestige having some effect like a high prestige belt. Maybe even have it fluctuate just like the prestige of a belt. At the end of the day, both are gimmicks to make things interesting.

  12. There are products in the game, that allow you to run longer angles.

Well, atleast there is one. Coincidentally, it´s the default product of the company I always run in the CV, that´s why I know it.

Actually, if you have a worker who is over and has decent enough skills, you will score higher with 10 or 15 minutes, than with 5 minutes (rated on Entertainment or Microphone).

So, this seems to be more of a product thing.

With that being said, I actually think, it´s "realistic", that longer angles are penalized.

At what time the penalty should occur, 5 minutes or 7 or 10 or ... that is another question.

But even during the Attitude Era, most angles wouldn´t run longer than 10 minutes. There were just a few exceptions and they would feature Austin or The Rock, to keep the crowd invested.

And I said this in another thread, I wish the game would be better in recognizing these exceptions to the rule, where a worker, who is over enough and has the skills to pull it off, should be able, to avoid these penalties occasionaly.

And if there´s a hot storyline behind the angle. But I mean a really hot storyline, not what TEW considers as "hot" (Heat > 50).

Yea, Aside from arbitrary numbers. It would be more realistic if it was based on crowd.

A product that mentions the crowd prefer short angles should be a tolerance level. Meaning a angle that’s too long that involves someone who is not as over would lose the crowd faster than someone who the crowd sees as a star. Different products would have different tolerance levels and you’ll have to watch out for crowd burnout.

Same goes for matches. Attitude entertainment maybe have a low tolerance for hardcore matches compared to ECW but you may get away with a long hardcore match with two top stars compared to two guys marked as unimportant.

Now this concept is currently in the current game. It just tied to a certain amount of minutes instead of being based on crowd management.

  13. Speaking of OCD, that is precisely why I prefer grades over numbers. I see what the game is trying to do and I’m not against it and I feel like people wouldn’t care as much if so much of the information wasn’t in your face. Penalties like this should have probably been in the dirt sheet, because a lot of these penalties does not bomb the segment.

The presentation is just so in your face with wording and colors. From a psychological perspective, I can see why some may be bothered by it.

Less aggressive wording and colors and just hiding some of the stuff would have worked better IMO.

As for the gamey aspect, I feel like this has been apart of TEW for a while. People wouldn’t book under 5-6 min angles because that is how much was need to gain skills. I always were against arbitrary numbers like that.

I think crowd management should be a bigger aspect in the game because that really should determine how long something should go on for. Crowd burn out should be something you should be actively trying to avoid, not necessarily avoiding a 20 minute promo.

Different crowds should have different tolerance.

  14. In the interim that might make sense. Next version of the game though I'd really like to see the penalties for matches/angles going too long based on the stats of the workers involved. That's the right way to implement a system like this.

You already get these penalties now though with stamina and with guys not good enough on the mic.

Product specific penalties is from an crowd or demographic perspective and it’s from an casual audience POV. It makes sense for a sport entertainment type of company to have such penalties because of the short attention spans of the intended audience.

It can be said that such thing should be tied to crowd management and not directly to the match or segment and only should effect the segment grade indirectly. But then we have to remember that we are not only booking for a live audience but future viewers.
