  1. You might be on to something here! Trying to attract from a list of demographic and age types depending on your timeslot could be really interesting. It'd have to be quite deep to replace products, though.
  2. As hard as it is, I'm trying to understand the situation and think ahead. I see huge potential in this UI but we all agree it needs some heavy work. This is the most barebones it will ever be and it's already quite fleshed out compared to the evolution of the last. Now that we have a new skeleton, we can begin to work out and build the muscles. This is not an excuse for those who are letdown, merely me trying to find a positive in negatives. I'm sure Adam was sick of building on top of the same code and this year may be the martyr the series needed to move forward. It's a long way away but TEW 2024 will have a full years' development cycle of new features and revamped mechanics. Until then with that understood, I'll be a happy camper once all the outstanding UI issues are tolerable. I hope it doesn't sound like I'm sucking up, I just know that whenever games in series rebuild the engine we always end up with a bit of a shallow installation the first time around. EDIT: Please don't take this as me trying to sway those on the fence into buying a flawed product. The final purchase is your decision. I am just trying to make best light of our situation is all!
  3. Ah yeah, I understand. Just making sure he knows that there's always an option after a mess up.
  4. Does it just not still autosave so you can end the process from the task manager? I understand that this is a risk of data corruption but if you were desperate, I'm sure once or twice will not hurt your save.
  5. Yeah, this observation is just as ignorant as the original claim. Both new and old players have varied opinions on the changes. I don't know why it's a new/old player problem when almost everyone has stated their prior experience with the games. Do you think they are lying? Who would do that? (Aimed at RatedRKO16)
  6. Might run TCW as my first retail save. I don't think I've ever had a long TCW game, what are some tips and titbits for a first time player? I'm quite familiar with the majority of the roster but not with how their shows are generally booked.
  7. I'd like to think we've all come to terms with the concept changes but the execution has been flawed and is like you said, fixable. I've got a good gut feeling about the final release (plus first month of patches) and I believe we'll all look back at this thread fondly a few months down the line. Adam clearly knows and has described what the issues are and he's a pro at chipping away until the community is happy. I'm off to get all my top teeth knocked out tomorrow and replaced with falsies (I'm only 25 too! It's a long story) so I'm going to be away from the forum for just over a week recovering so hopefully by the time I get back to my computer the beta is considerably more stable. That being said, I haven't run a show since patch two. Hope you all continue to test and report at the rate we've been going! Fingers crossed for development health :-) It's been a rough year for all of us and this game is a glimmer of hope still.

Now I can develop for multiple platforms (Windows, Mac and even Linux, if I cared enough) and advanced UI controls/behaviors are built right into the language.</p><p> </p><p> But I also stuck with VB6 for a long time because it was easier to stay with something familiar, so I totally get it. There was a big learning curve, and older code had to converted over. It was time-consuming and frustrating at times.</p><p> </p><p> But as for TEW20, I think Adam's track record of listening to fans speaks for itself, and I believe the final product will be solid and good one that most fans will appreciate.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Exactly what I wanted to hear, thanks for clarifying. I'm sure it'll be heavily improved with every annual too, almost like when 2K took over the WWE rights from THQ and had a fresh wipe for lack of better example. It took a few years before it really stood on it's own as a revamp. It looked nice and held a higher resolution but took many iterations before the engine peaked.</p>

A game shouldn't force me to spend several days playing it until I get somewhat accustomed to its UI/UX, especially if the UI/UX is so important for it.<p> </p><p> At this point, I'd much rather have TEW 2020 looking exactly as TEW 2016 did. TEW 2016 wasn't pretty in any way, but it was relatively functional, and I was okay with the UI/UX <strong>at first glance</strong>. I didn't have to get used to it. Almost every aspect of the UI/UX of TEW 2020 is worse than it has been in 2016. That's part of why I'm so upset. I was looking forward to playing a new version of this game with improved features, instead I'm getting a new version with improved features and a UI/UX that makes it unplayable for me. It's not only not an upgrade to the last iteration, it's an incredibly huge <strong>downgrade</strong>. Adam made it <strong>significantly worse</strong>.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> From what we've seen and have had available to us up to this point, I agree. It's pretty bad. I don't want to touch the game until an attempt at a fix is made.</p>
  10. It's so easy to get 1000+ hours out of these games. That's what I try and judge a good price by. I've been buying $60 12 hour single player games most of my life and most of those I can't run on their respective systems anymore. I have always thought that maybe previous games should drop heavily in price when they are succeeded but I've bought multiple licenses for TEW and WMMA due to lost keys (even when there were working cracks about) because I knew I'd the hour to dollar ratio was insane.
  11. Totally understandable! I was just unsure by your wording if you were aware of the delay is all. I think it will be in much better shape, he'll be working overtime as we speak.
  12. This might not be what Adam has planned for his small company and it shouldn't be expected to run on marketing rules if he is happy with his returning core fanbase. New players are great but the last thing he would want is to lose his loyals, no? If Adam is proud and he makes his target financial goal, then this year will have been a success despite expectations put on the game. He knows what formula works and to take such a risk while giving a cut away to a store client that had no investment after sticking to his business plan for so could end in disaster. GDS is just one of the last crazy survival stories when it comes to independent publishing and to bring that to an end would be sad to see, I think anyway. We obviously both love this series and I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you. Just trying to see the pros and cons to both choices. EDIT: Just to be clear, I was part of the disappointed but still hopeful party when the open beta began.
  13. The game has been delayed though. It isn't releasing in it's current state and none of us have seen the retail version running yet. This is why the delay was the best news we could've hoped for despite many unrestly souls being justifiably upset. Not only that, whatever complaints we might have after final release will then be polished up in the patches. It's not like these games get DLC to keep them relevant, they're always being tweaked and perfected. We really can't say anything now until we go gold.
  14. This has been a commonly repeated word this year, it seems. Only one man doing the work on a game a large fanbase from different eras that have different ideas on how it should be played. The only way to please everyone is to add multiple setting options, which I imagine would inhibit game mechanic progress going forward. It's a tricky one for sure and I know it's so early to say but I'm really interested to see how these new replaced systems will evolve going forward and by the time we get to the next TEW release, there will be a fresh UI already built to go to work on new features for.

Why would lack of a Steam release speak to poor management of the game? The one and only reason for lack of a Steam release is that on a project like this, the amount of increased sales that would come wouldn't make up for the large cut of the price Steam takes. Or at least that's the belief. It's not like it's difficult at all to release a game on Steam.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Could you imagine believing in a store client monopoly so much that you use a games' choice to release independently as a negative point?</p>
  16. I've tried my best to make sure I'm only crediting my tenure as a GDS purchaser so the reader of my critique has some context to why I may think one way or another. To insult new members is to damage this communities growth which in turn, damages profits for the developer!
  17. I feel ashamed to be a New Zealander who has never played a ZEN save lol
  18. It's absolutely realistic! You should have to take big financial risks like that for global popularity gains. The whole point of having a star so much more over than the rest of your roster is to use to elevate the others to his level. Whatever that Chinese movie John Cena movie did years ago must've done somewhat okay because they put him on the China house shows and obviously got the biggest pop of the lot. Him being advertised would've boosted ticket sales by quite a margin in the new market that would've potentially failed without him, I'd say. It's also realistic in the sense that you may try perform a Jinder Mahal push only for it to fall on it's head and completely decimate your chances at taming the market for the next few years. I like it.

In lieu of more radical changes, at the very least a white border around the font would be nice.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> I'm not sure if you're aware of this and just making Adam know of a hue issue but you can turn colored text off in the settings!</p>
  20. Cool cool, just saves me time going nuts trying to fix it haha. 4am here in New Zealand, better catch some Zzzs. May try run a show tomorrow now the patch seems stable and give my initial thoughts. Happy testing!
  21. Obviously minor but is anyone else's little application icon not found and just a generic?
  22. This is what we need more of at the moment. Big props. Hope you can find a way to help.
  23. Thank you so much for bringing this issue up, it was literally the first change I noticed after the graphic design layout. I really won't like having to do all of that manually as I like to check for free agents quickly every game day.
  24. GreyDogSoftware is proud to announce the hiring of former World Championship Wrestling and Total Non-Stop Action head writer and new P.R advisor, Vinceeeee... Ruuuuuusssssssso!!!!!
