  1. <p>I'm always a mark for Scott Hall, so if you can run with him without the backstage issues, it'll be absolute money. Great body, great promo, great worker. Plus a nice alternative to reality.</p><p> </p><p> Undertaker has SQ and Menace in spades so he will get over whatever you do with him. I always prefer a Goldberg-esque slow build with him to really establish him as superhuman (otherwise the gimmick just doesn't work for me) while not compromising the rest of the roster.</p>
  2. Being the Elite is really some excellent stuff. To be able to keep a storyline exciting and cohesive across several platforms and promotions is next level.
  3. <blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-username="Jazz49ers" data-cite="Jazz49ers" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41193" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>So, I'm buying out AJPW in my WWF game that is currently in 1995 (started in 1985). My current plan is to bring over around 20 of their active wrestlers, a road agent or two, and maybe their announce team. Was thinking of doing a small brand split, with the main part of my roster being on the two hour Monday Night Raw and with the 20 wrestlers from AJPW plus up to 5 WWF wrestlers on a one hour show based entirely in Japan. <p> </p><p> Here's where I'm needing help..</p><p> </p><p> 1. Will their main eventers, with little to no pop in the US, be able to carry the show to good enough ratings? I'm thinking that with the TV coverage I have and by putting a few of my guys over there, I'll be able to get their pop up fast, just not sure if it would totally tank my ratings. What if I just put the TV show to have coverage in Japan? Would that help?</p><p> </p><p> 2. For the TV show, does it matter if the announcers just speak Japanese if it is being shown in America?</p><p> </p><p> 3. Would around 20-25 wrestlers be enough for both a heavyweight division and a light heavyweight division? And any tips for fitting both on a one hour show? I'm betting that the majority of the matches will be three on three, kinda like Japan runs now a days, with major singles matches happening on PPV.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Regarding 1 and 2, it's all about where the show is held. So if you base it in Japan like you say, you'll likely get some fire ratings with the AJPW roster.</p><p> </p><p> If you want to do a split, I guess not. But it depends on how you book it. If you go for American-style, then you might get away with it. But if you plan to be more Japanese-style with multi-man matches, you'd likely need more otherwise you'll exhaust your fresh matches pretty quickly.</p>
  4. Yeah it is but there's cheat codes to either disable it entirely or to bring it forward to the next day.
  5. <p>What determines whether a worker is thrown into Time Decline? Is it purely down to the "random number" assigned on startup?</p><p> </p><p> Is it impossible to predict without hard setting it? I've been experimenting with altering resilience and toughness stats of a 39 year old worker but he's pretty much always in decline on startup regardless.</p><p> </p><p> I don't mind him being in different stages of decline <em>sometimes</em>, hence me not wanting to hard set it.</p>

I've just checked the in-game manual and the answer is right there, as it is most of the time (Players Handbook - Workers - Body Types):<p> </p><p> "Whether a worker is eligible for a size-based body type change depends on their destiny stat, age, gender, lifestyle settings (particularly steroids and drinking), size settings, status, some of their skill levels, and an element of randomness."</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> So basically if he's willing to bump up a weight and is already in good shape: drug test him!</p>
  7. I've started with WCW in July 1994. Just to shake things up a bit, I've randomised everyone's contract expiry date to somewhere in the next 12 months. Almost as if the game wants me to unleash Hulkamania on Atlanta, Hogan got the full 12 month deal and Flair's is up the day after Bash at the Beach. Terrific. Naturally I offered Flair an extension (I had a great story in mind), but he's quite deep into decline so it was to be a Gatekeeper role for 12 months, then re-assess once I've used him to establish who I need establishing. Obviously Vince came in with his own counter-offer(s) so I'm in the midst of a bidding war (current offer: $93k per month, $86k signing bonus, 20% per event, creative control, wage matching, 5 years). Now I've cooled off overnight, I just might let him go and run an accelerated "Summer of Punk"-type storyline over the next month and have Hogan save the day (yay!). Elsewhere, I plan to bring back a bit of realism to the product with generally longer matches and less ridiculous gimmicks so the contract randomisation gives me a nice opportunity to rid the roster of the one-trick ponies in the next year, although I've opened myself up to the double-edged sword of WWF stealing the talent I want (or have) to build around whilst I linger in a distant 2nd. Even with my monetary power, CEO Bischoff has restricted what I can offer (as I've found out with Flair) and put in place some awkward goals, such as burying Austin (although I might plan to just break that, he's got too much star power to flounder when I'm needing to win National Battles). Storyline-wise, I've got an absolute mountain of things lined up. Real long-term layered stories for much of the established roster. I've taken my time assessing everyone and in addition I've also got a couple of exciting arcs planned even without any participants in mind. I know what type of character and worker I need so when the time is right, I can just pull the trigger. Thinking about it, I've got a few years of storylines written down already. The only question mark is the Flair situation but the story isn't unique to the Nature Boy character I can easily substitute him for another main eventer to reach the end goal (it just might require a shocking heel turn!). Whilst I'm at National level, I plan to keep the active wrestling roster capped at 48 so until contracts are up and I can trim the fat, there will be some time off given here and there but that sets up the classic return storyline which is easy to write (I like to have everyone, except some jobbers, involved in storylines). I'm trying not to spoil anything as I write this because I may plan to turn this into a diary once I get a few months in. I'm excited to get going with this and barring an unexpected event which turns me off, I envisage a minimum 3-4 year lifespan on this already.

I can't remember seeing that before, but I don't always use the dirt sheet so I'm not sure if that's typical or not.<p> </p><p> My understanding is that workers don't hold back on PPV shows, but could it have been because of booking notes (it was a 'calm the crowd' match) or was it because it's quite a low-level PPV rather than a Historic etc. event?</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Calm the Crowd is the definition of holding back (in my opinion), so that would explain it. Even on a PPV.</p>
  9. If all three guys have excellent psychology and consistency, you can maybe go for an hour-long Epic if their stamina allows (which I assume it does). However, these match aims are hard to pull off for many people and if you're in any doubt you're best going with a 20-30 minute Regular match in my opinion.

If it’s a move up they can also gain menace and I think power.<p> </p><p> It can fail though, and wrestlers can become flabby and lose SQ/SA as well. Guy just put the weight on the wrong way. Sad too, I tried to push Matt Hocking</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Is this related to body type in any way? Like would a toned/muscular/ripped guy have a more successful weight increase than someone who is average or flabby to begin with?</p>
  11. Depends on his push and who he is jobbing to. If he's an upper card guy jobbing to gimmicky gimmicks then he will suffer. But the fact he's just bouncing off 40 popularity and not actively going down either, I'd say he's capped.

I've done it on low risk but nothing higher.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Depends on the worker. If they're lower card, I sometimes take the plunge on Medium Risk. As it suggests though, it's pretty much a 50/50 chance so I would advise against it if the worker is of great value.</p><p> </p><p> Saying that, I sent someone for surgery recently on Low Risk (Jacques Rougeau I think, off the top of my head) and even that blew up in my face.</p>

It might depend on the frequency settings too. A World title only set to be defended at Events may retain its prestige longer than say a TV title if they went the same amount of time.</p><p> </p><p> My question: if I take a worker's hair in a match, does it come back or he is bald for life?</p>
  15. <p>Is it right that pre- and post-show matches should affect momentum and popularity? I often pack these to test for chemistry and train up green workers but it's annoying that my heel guys are taking a hit because they're eating a pin.</p><p> </p><p> Also, if you fire a worker for a failed drugs test, will you still be required to pay off his whole contract as if you released him otherwise?</p>

  17. <p>Is the saturation point for PPVs set at exactly 1 per month?</p><p> </p><p> Or can I run slightly more than 1 per month without experiencing a dip in viewership (or run slightly less to gain viewers)?</p>
  18. That was my main concern. I was hoping someone would say pre- and post-show didn't affect prestige.
  19. Is there much of a downside to doing post-show dark matches for titles, like companies used to? I'm booking 1992 WWF and the top guys are involved in a lot of angles and squashes on TV but rarely defend the titles outside of the big four yearly shows. I like the idea of say Ric Flair defending the World title against an up and coming midcarder like Tatanka in a post-show dark match (something for the live fans). I would maybe do this once a month, rotating with the other titles. Does it tank title prestige due to the lower potential match rating due to it being post-show?
  20. Just started a fresh save with WCW on the War of the Worlds mod (September 1995). I'm using the premiere of Nitro as a premise to "reboot" the promotion in a way. All titles have been vacated. As a way to slowly build up the heat, the first month of booking will focus (in-ring, at least) entirely on tournaments to crown all the new champions, whilst giving the roster a chance to properly develop their gimmicks on-screen and planting seeds for the long-term storylines I have in mind. Speaking of titles, I plan to bring tag team (and eventually trios) matches up to the prestige of singles matches, so I'm beginning with the following titles (tournaments for each): WCW World Heavyweight Championship (provisional winner Randy Savage) WCW World Tag Team Championship (provisional winner Sting & Lex Luger) WCW United States Heavyweight Championship (provisional winner Eddie Guerrero) WCW United States Tag Team Championship (provisional winner Dean Malenko & Sabu) Further down the line, possibly as soon as next month we will see the re-introduction of the WCW World Television Championship (which may well become the cruiserweight division in all but name due to the workers involved) and eventually the WCW World Six-Man Championship (once I've established enough teams). In the past I've focused almost entirely on creating complex and intriguing storylines that, while enjoyable and satisfying to see play out, render TV matches and title belts second rate. Although I still intend to create and develop characters and storylines fully, I will make a conscientious effort to promote the importance of tournaments, title belts, multi-man matches and clean finishes. Let's see how it goes.
  21. Just before I go ahead and do it: if I book a DQ finish to a match for a vacant title, the title will definitely remain vacant right?
  22. <p>I don't think it will get watered down at all.</p><p> </p><p> Orton vs Lesnar is one of the main selling points of SummerSlam and there has to be something like this to hype the match considering they are on separate brands. It was a surprise and it was very well executed.</p>
