    <span class="showinfo">All Star Weekend X - Night Two \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.12.21</span>

    <div class="resultbackground"><span class="show">

    1. Night Two of All Star Weekend and we're treated to a quick three-way tag team match in anticipation for DDT4. Going from a terrible start to three wins in a row, Forever Hooligans are starting to look like favorites for the tournament after
    Rocky Romero
    pinned
    Candice LeRae
, who just challenged the Bucks back in October. The Beaver Boys were just happy to not be the ones to eat the pin tonight as
    Alex Reynolds
    and
    John Silver
    continued to impress. LeRae and
    Willie Mack
, despite their inexperience as a team compared to the other two teams, are really starting to find their footing as a duo and one has to wonder where they'll be a year from now if they keep it up.

    2. What a weekend for
    Anthony Nese
, who entered without a PWG win under his belt, and leaves with two, including a huge one over
    TJ Perkins
. Due to the uncertainty of his recovery time, the young veteran Perkins was forced to miss BOLA and looked to make up for it against Nese. A real fun match with Nese's agility and strength up against Perkins' speed and technical ability. Wasn't a long match and Nese would escape from a kneebar attempt by Perkins to go on and get the upset victory later on with his 450 Splash.

    3. And it wasn't just Anthony Nese who had a great weekend as
    AR Fox
finally found himself a win on the final show of the year. Only fitting that it's the tag team partner he started the year out with as well as a wrestler on the rise in
    Samuray del Sol
. The Unbreakable F'N Machines put on a great showing last night, but it's obvious that
    Michael Elgin
's hand injury, as minor as it may be, was bothering him. The heavily taped right hand of Elgin gave him some difficulty lifting up his opponents, but thankfully he had
    Brian Cage
by his side to make up for it. But there was something special in the hot air for Fox and del Sol as the Foxcatcher on Elgin delivered an early Christmas present for Fox.

    4.
    Chris Hero
was determined to get a bit of revenge and while it isn't the same as winning the PWG World Championship, beating
    Kevin Steen
was just as good for Hero. A great match and despite having wrestled nearly 25 minutes the night before, Hero was in top shape for this one. You can say this about a lot of PWG matches, but this one truly could be a main event anywhere in the world. Steen looked to put an early end to his comeback tour for Hero, nearly doing so after his apron pop-up powerbomb. But with the crowd behind him and out for blood, Hero could not be stopped and tonight? He wasn't.

    5. Back from intermission, the fans were treated with a sleeper hit of a match. The greatness of the DojoBros is well known, but for their first time teaming together,
    Biff Busick
    and
    Timothy Thatcher
    put on a clinic.
    Eddie Edwards
was caught off guard early by Busick's recklessness, trying to avoid stiff European uppercuts from him. Even
    Roderick Strong
was surprised by what Thatcher was bringing to the table, having only seen a glimpse of what he brought to the ring yesterday from the back. No upset tonight though as Edwards managed to keep Busick down long enough to force him to tap to the Achilles Lock.

    6. The strikes of
    Davey Richards
looked a bit crisper than usual against
    Johnny Gargano
. Richards didn't want to be the next guy to fall to Gargano, but that's exactly what happened. Eerily similar to last night's affair, Gargano looked to be in danger all throughout the match, but when it mattered most, he showed up. The Tiger Driver of Richards couldn't keep Gargano down. Repeated Brainbusters couldn't keep Gargano down. The heart of Gargano could not be put down and it helped propel him to his second win to cap off a great weekend.

    7. Yesterday's championship match between Adam Cole and Chris Hero seemed like a tough one to follow up, but The Young Bucks,
    Brian Kendrick
    , and
    Paul London
threw their hats into the conversation. Falling shy of the PWG World Championship a couple months back, London was looking for the next best thing in the PWG World Tag Team Championships alongside his long time friend. While that would've been nice,
    Matt
    and
    Nick Jackson
weren't going to let it happen. The four men tore the house down and a London Calling very nearly crowned new champions if Matt hadn't been there to save his brother. A pair of stereo superkicks to London and Kendrick led to More Bang For Your Buck on Kendrick to mark the 5th defense of the PWG World Tag Team Championships.

    8. There was still one more opportunity for the fans to go home happy with
    ACH
ready to take away the PWG World Championship from
    Adam Cole
. A completely different wrestler compared to Chris Hero, but one still hungry for championship gold and wasn't going to be kept down easily. For the most part, this was a surprisingly clean match, outside of the usual dick moves by Cole here and there, but that's par for the course. And in the opening seconds, ACH nearly stole this one with a Brainbuster out of nowhere and tried for his 450 Splash immediately after, but Cole quickly rolled out of the ring to keep his championship reign alive for the moment.

When things looked really dire for Cole, that's when Mount Rushmore showed up, but ACH was ready for them with a tope suicida to take the three members out. He immediately went back into the ring to try and finish Cole off; the world champion fighting right back. Mount Rushmore tried to get back in, but
    Paul London
    ,
    Brian Kendrick
    ,
    Drake Younger
and others would pull them right back out of the ring. ACH had Cole ready once more for The Best 450 Splash ever, but Cole would get his knees up, superkick to ACH, and the Panama Sunrise! And ACH kicked out! Purely out of instinct though as the follow up Straight-jacket German Suplex from Cole would see him retain his championship.

A heartbreaker for ACH as the question regarding who can beat Adam Cole continues to grow. The fans still showed their love for him anyways as he closed the show with a promo to send them home happy and put a bow on the final show of 2013.

whew, that took an embarrassingly long time to actually post. Appreciate everyone who has stuck with this so far and finishing out 2013! Probably one last news update and maybe some end of year recap if I can think up a clever enough format. Then a lil break again as I'll start getting to work writing up all of the 2014 shows!

  2. <p><style>.bodycard1 {font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9.5px} .bodycard2 {font-family: Verdana; font-size: 9px}</style>Not quite hitting the "post all the shows before All Out" deadline, but close enough! Probably having a shorter prediction window for that reason, I'd like to get these posted either on Sunday or Monday. Then we can start 2014 and things will start to veer off a lot more.<hr width=512px; size=1></p><div style="text-align:center;"><img alt="EQZigwU.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/EQZigwU.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /><p>

    <span class="showinfo">All Star Weekend X - Night One \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.12.20</span></p><p> </p><p>

<div class="resultbackground"><span class="show"></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">Sure was nice to have a break from Mount Rushmore last month. Oh well, they open up this show and bully </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Excalibur</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> in handing the microphone over to </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Adam Cole</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">. They soak in the boos from the Reseda crowd for a good moment and Cole brings the microphone up, yelling out, "MOUNT RUSHMORE!" More boos flow in for a moment until </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Chris Hero</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> rushes into the ring, taking out </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kevin Steen</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> with a Rolling Elbow and knocking </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Matt Jackson </strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">down. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Nick Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> eats a boot and Cole barely ducks underneath a second Rolling Elbow. Hero picks up the microphone, challenging Cole to fight RIGHT NOW, but of course, Cole doesn't bother giving Hero that satisfaction and heads to the back with the rest of Mount Rushmore.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    1. A last minute replacement for Tommaso Ciampa, who is dealing with a hernia discovered shortly after an ROH taping, is </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Timothy Thatcher</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">, making his PWG debut a day earlier than expected against </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Anthony Nese</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">. Some of the crowd are familiar with Thatcher's work up in All Pro Wrestling, but for many this is their first chance seeing him and he didn't disappoint. Nese would pick up his first win in PWG in a low key sleeper hit of the night. Thatcher is a very intimidating man and his mat work had Nese working hard throughout the contest. Very likely going to see more of Thatcher down the line.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    2. A shorter match, but still a sprint saw the World's Toughest Cupcakes pick up a win over PPRay. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Willie Mack</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">'s size would ultimately prove to be too much for "Pretty" </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Peter Avalon</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ray Rosas</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">. That said, they showed no fear going up against him, Avalon almost getting the better of Mack in a striking contest at one point. Mack and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Candice LeRae</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> hit stereo moonsaults on PPRay before LeRae's Heartbreaker on Avalon gave them some momentum heading into DDT4 season.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    3. From one sprint to another, </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Drake Younger</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Biff Busick</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> beat the absolute piss out of one another. A nasty brawl contained entirely in the ring and referee Justin Borden had to work overtime to avoid getting tangled up at the rate these two were going. Busick's jaw-shattering European uppercuts were put on display, but it'd be fan favorite Younger who'd get the edge overall in this match, finishing it off with Drake's Landing.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    4. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Eddie Edwards</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> made his first appearance back in PWG since July and it'd be in an upset as </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Johnny Gargano</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> would make one half of the DojoBros tap out. Gargano has been looking for that one big win to finally break through the ceiling placed above him and this might have been the one needed. Edwards was well in control of this match for the majority of it, but the tenacity of Gargano can't be overlooked and when it seemed like he was done for, somewhere deep down he found the energy to pull this one out. Avoiding Edwards' Achilles Lock, Gargano would catch Edwards by surprise with his Garga-No-Escape at the 17 minute mark.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    5. Nearly time for a late intermission, but first, a tag team match between the Best Friends and Unbreakable F'N Machines. Like Edwards before him, it's been some time since we've seen </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Michael Elgin</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">, after his first round exit from this year's Battle of Los Angeles. Though he's been busy, recently picking up the AIW Intense Championship and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Brian Cage</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> has been busy here lately, but these two showed no signs of rust being away from each other. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Chuck Taylor</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Trent?</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> did their best to hang with the beasts and did a great job. It's easy to forget that while Trent? is presented as a junior heavyweight in New Japan, he's nearly the tallest man in the match and has packed on some muscle as of late. And while he can't quite pull off the same feats of strength as Cage or Elgin, he was able to surprise them. Though it just wasn't enough here as the Machines would put Trent? and Taylor away. Also worth noting was Elgin favoring his hand after the match.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    6. Facing the winner of Cole/Hero tomorrow, </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>ACH</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> knew he had to be on his best behavior against </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Davey Richards</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> to give him some momentum heading into that championship match. And he looked great. Richards kept things interesting for ACH, nearly securing his own win after a round kick catching ACH out of the air. No doubt that Richards was just as eager to put his name in championship contention. But ACH's second-rope 450 Splash after a Brainbuster would dash those dreams.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    7. A crazy six-man tag match before our main event saw </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kevin Steen</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> put away </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Rich Swann</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> with his Package Piledriver. We know that </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>AR Fox</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> has been trying to break his cold streak in PWG and his Lo Mein Pain onto </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Matt Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> could've done just that if not for </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Nick Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> making a last second save out of nowhere. And of course, you can't ignore </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ricochet</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">'s contributions to this match. A rare double rotation moonsault from the man onto Steen with an accompanying pin that's also broken up. A heartbreaker for Fox as he watched a chance to win slip away.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    8. Two years away from Reseda and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Chris Hero</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> still ain't nothin' to mess with. After winning the NXT Championship from WWE's Big E Langston and a brief main roster run before being released, Chris Hero was more than ready to remind people who he is. And </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Adam Cole</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> unfortunately got to be the first man to experience the Chris Hero return tour. The first time that these two have stood across from each other in singles competition and with the PWG World Championship on the line for a match that would leave its mark in the American Legion Post for years to come.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Without knowing how tomorrow is going to unfold, it might still be safe to say that this match was the best held in Reseda all year. Hero might just be the perfect wrestler with his combination of strength, size, agility, intensity, and willingness to go the extra distance; possibly Cole's toughest challenge, not just in PWG, but of his career. Though whatever you might think about Cole, you can't deny he's one of the best in the world, and he weathered the storm that Hero brought with him. Near fall after near fall and Cole absorbing all kinds of chops, boots, and forearms from Hero.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And while he was reeling for a good chunk of this match, all it took was one superkick to the side of Hero's head and a Brainbuster on Cole's knee that put the champ right back into it. However, the match wasn't one without shenanigans. A stray elbow from Hero knocked referee Rick Knox out of the contest. Cole tried to capitalize, but Hero was ready with a Hero's Welcome, but there was still no official to make the count.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Being aware of what a match with Adam Cole entailed, he brought some backup in the form of his infamous loaded elbow pad. Cole managed to avoid the elbow, taking Hero down with a superkick, and stealing the loaded elbow pad! He slipped it onto his boot and drilled Hero with a disgusting superkick! The pin, but still no official and referee Justin Borden would slide in too late as Hero managed to kick out at two. And the champ wasn't happy as Borden would eat a superkick, allowing Hero to recover to blindside Cole, and set up a piledriver!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

And out came running </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kevin Steen</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and The Young Bucks! Hero would see them and quickly take out Steen with a Rolling Elbow. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Matt</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Nick Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> would be able to slow Hero down, but Hero was a man possessed tonight as he took them out with back-to-back Rolling Elbows! And a third to Cole! Referee Rick Knox recovered in time to make the pin and Cole kicked out! Just out of eyesight, Hero slipped that loaded elbow pad back on and aimed it at Cole, but the champ ducked it, superkick to Hero's knee, and a Panama Sunrise to help him retain the PWG World Championship!</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Rick Knox reluctantly handed the belt over to Adam Cole as the rest of Mount Rushmore celebrated with him. They had their moment and after clearing out, a defeated Chris Hero would remain alone in the ring with a microphone. He made it clear that he was here to stay! And that he would be back in the title picture. Even in defeat, Hero was in high spirits, optimistic about his return to the independents, and sending the Reseda fans home happy as they chanted his name to close out the night</div><p></span><span class="quick"><strong>Quick Results</strong></p><p>

    <strong>Rest of October/November/Mid-December Recap</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

    <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Notable Signings</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

As we hinted at a few months back, NJPW has been willing to break out the checkbook for big names and the loyalty of wrestlers were going to be tested. We can now confirm that as of last week, the newest addition to NJPW is none other than <strong>KENTA</strong> from Pro-Wrestling NOAH. Before this, there was speculation that WWE may have had interest in the 32-year old, but instead he'll stay in his home country to work for the largest company in Japan. You have to wonder how some NJPW fans may react to KENTA, possibly seeing him as an invader more so than any other signing.</p><p> </p><p>

Right now it looks like KENTA will work the rest of his NOAH dates, if they choose to keep booking him, and will most likely debut for NJPW after Wrestle Kingdom. While he's been in the heavyweight division recently for NOAH, the idea is that he might end up in the junior heavyweight division for the moment. Between him and Kota Ibushi, NJPW might also be looking to shift the perception of who can compete in the heavyweight division.</p><p> </p><p>

Another promising name hit the market and Ring of Honor didn't waste any time signing Samoa Joe back to the company, marking his return to the company for the first time since 2008. Rumors were circling some talent potentially wanting out of TNA and it was Samoa Joe who asked for his release and was granted it earlier in December. We're told that Joe's deal with ROH isn't one of their "exclusive" ones where talent are allowed to work certain companies only; Joe will be free to work anywhere for the time being. Some think he might opt to stay in ROH exclusively, but it is too early to tell.</p><p> </p><p>

Feeling a bit directionless in TNA, some people inside the company figured Joe wasn't going to re-sign anyways. Both sides have made it clear that the door is still open and we wouldn't rule out a potential Joe return, but for now ROH is making him happy as he's already set to main event Final Battle against Kevin Steen for the ROH World Championship.</p><p> </p><p>

On a smaller scale, WWE have signed some of the talent featured at their most recent tryout. We don't have a complete list of who all they signed, but we think it is safe to assume some of those without a wrestling background were signed to put their Performance Center to good use. We've also heard some word that they may have signed an independent wrestler or two from that tryout as well, but we'll let you know more as we check with our sources.</p><p> </p><p>

    <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Notable Departures</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Last Newsletter hinted at some names inside of WWE wanting out potentially and we can now confirm one of those is none other than former NXT Champion <strong>Chris Hero</strong> (fka Kassius Ohno). Many were shocked that Hero not only requested his release, but was also granted it. Similar to Samoa Joe, Hero didn't feel confident in creative coming off his NXT title reign and seeing how some of the other call-ups were being handled. Though on the other side, there's also rumors that Bill DeMott and similar minded individuals in NXT weren't exactly thrilled with Hero and his attitude. Our sources reported that Hero would occasionally offer some advice to others in the Performance Center and DeMott felt like that was Hero undermining him.</p><p> </p><p>

Wasting no time, Hero made his surprise return to the independents at the most recent Pro Wrestling Guerrilla event. Thanks to PWG's business model of releasing their shows months after they occur, Hero is able to get around his non-compete clause and capitalize off this momentum heading into 2014.</p><p> </p><p>

While Samoa Joe requested his release, other names in TNA were let go around the same time. <strong>Austin Aries</strong> is one of those names, who held the TNA World Tag Titles earlier this year with Bobby Roode, but this might not come as too much of a surprise given rumors of Aries having an ego backstage. <strong>Bruce Prichard</strong> and <strong>Eric Bischoff</strong> have also been let go, the idea that the company is perhaps looking for a new direction creatively heading into the new year. <strong>Brooke Hogan</strong> was also released, but we understand that this was mutual as Brooke is looking to step out of wrestling for the time being.</p><p> </p><p>

    <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Misc. News</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

After Wrestle Kingdom, NJPW young lion <strong>Sho Tanaka</strong> is set to head to CMLL for his excursion. It's expected that <strong>Yohei Komatsu</strong> will join him and potentially others early in January as well.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Tommaso Ciampa</strong> had to undergo surgery to remove a rather large hernia and it is believed he'll be out until March or April 2014. Unfortunate timing for him as he was starting to gain momentum in ROH and was planned to be featured again in PWG, but he's shown some serious dedication this past year and it's safe to assume he'll be right back at it in 2014.</p><p> </p><p>

Former ECW Champion <strong>Bobby Lashley</strong> competed for Xtreme Fight Night out of Oklahoma in November in a losing effort via decision to bring his MMA record to 9-3. There has been word that Lashley is looking to make a return to professional wrestling some time in the next year or two and this loss might be what gets him back in the squared circle.</p><p> </p><p>

    <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Rumor Roundup</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Nothing too exciting this cycle, but there are murmurs that WWE might look to do some cleaning some time next year. Especially with how much the company has invested into the Performance Center, NXT and potentially the WWE Network, they might be looking to cut some losses to balance out these investments.</div></p></div><p><hr width=512px; size=1></p>

    <span class="showinfo">Ain't Got Time To Bleed \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.11.09</span>

    <div class="resultbackground"><span class="show">

    1. No appearance from Mount Rushmore tonight as we instead get right into the action. Back in PWG is
    B-Boy
and he found himself with some familiar faces in
    Candice LeRae
    and
    Willie Mack
as they'd defeat the trio of
    Anthony Nese
    ,
    Biff Busick
    , and
    Tommaso Ciampa
. A great showing from all six wrestlers as the three East Coast natives showed they can hang with the best that Reseda has to offer. Ciampa very nearly got his payback on LeRae from the last time they squared off with his Project Ciampa, but luckily her tag team partner was able to save her and they'd go on to win this one.

    2. Despite falling short in the Battle of Los Angeles, there was no denying
    Samuray del Sol
's ability as he picked up arguably his biggest win in Reseda yet over
    Brian Cage
. Something thought impossible, del Sol was definitely the underdog throughout, but his reilisency kept him alive. Living up to his Mr. GMSI identity, Cage happily threw del Sol around like a ragdoll, nearly sending him flying out of the ring after a release German suplex. Though Cage would get a bit too cocky trying to set del Sol up for a German suplex off the top rope, only for del Sol to kick Cage in the face, pop off the top rope, and spike him with a reverse hurricanrana.

    3. While yet to pick up a win, The Beaver Boys continue to win over the Reseda crowd.
    John Silver
is a heavyweight hoss trapped inside the body of a cruiserweight and he threw
    Chuck Taylor
    and
    Trent?
around like Brian Cage did to Samuray del Sol the match prior. And while
    Alex Reynolds
doesn't quite possess that same wow factor, he's still able to match Silver's ability in-ring. A lot of comedy and a lot of dumping each other on their necks. Trent? showcased why New Japan is so interested in him with a reckless tope con hilo onto Reynolds and following through with a springboard dropkick right to the back of Silver inside of the ring. A great showcase for both teams as we draw seemingly closer to DDT4; Taylor hitting his Awful Waffle to give the Best Friends the extra momentum heading into tournament season.

    4. Over the last few shows, we've started to watch these two men rise up the ranks. Moreso
    Roderick Strong
thanks to his impressive run in BOLA, but
    Johnny Gargano
has started to show that he is a capable singles wrestler and this match would continue to build his case. Strong's Sick Kick out of nowhere would put an end to Gargano's night however. Early on, Strong was in control for the most part as Gargano played the underdog throughout the opening portions of the match. The Reseda crowd tried their hardest to inspire Gargano to pick up the victory, but it just wasn't meant to be tonight.

    5. Returning from intermission, we're treated to one more normal tag match between Forever Hooligans and The Inner City Machine Guns. Four of the best junior heavyweights in the world would battle for a grueling 20 minutes. A war between the best of New Japan's juniors and Dragon Gate's. At the last show, we saw
    Alex Koslov
    and
    Rocky Romero
pick up their first win and tonight, they'd start their first winning streak in PWG after this contest. While on the other side of the ring,
    Rich Swann
    and
    Ricochet
have cooled down a bit since Ricochet's brief run in the Battle of Los Angeles. Plenty of dives, flips, but more importantly, hard hitting action with heavy emphasis on the heavyweight portion of junior heavyweight.

    6. While it hasn't been made official yet, it's safe to assume
    ACH
has a date with Adam Cole and the PWG World Championship relatively soon. That's an opportunity that Mount Rushmore member
    Kevin Steen
is looking to spoil in hopes of softening up ACH before then. And fair play to Steen as he did a great job of that, utilizing the ring apron for a pop-up powerbomb on the smaller ACH. The underdog for the entirety of the match, this one seemed all, but over for ACH if not for the support from the fans. ACH would rally back and earn his biggest win to date in PWG following his 450 Splash onto Steen following a gorgeous Shining Wizard to set it up. This man came out of nowhere in Reseda and suddenly it seems like he's got one last hurdle in his way toward winning championship gold.

    7. We've already seen two Guerrilla Warfare matches this year, but it's safe to say this one was the best of them. Forget match of the night, this was a match of the year candidate as the duo of
    Brian Kendrick
    and
    Paul London
hadn't lost a step even after all this time. Add in
    Kyle O'Reilly
and you've got a deadly combination. You couldn't discredit
    Adam Cole
and The Young Bucks' history in matches like this though and that definitely gave them a slight edge heading into this one. It was electric from the start as O'Reilly was waiting right at the entryway and the Reseda crowd exploded once he and Cole brawled for the first time.
    Matt
    and
    Nick Jackson
tried to help Cole only for Kendrick and London to hit stereo suicide dives to the outside!

These six men wasted no time using the Guerrilla Warfare rules (or lack thereof) to their advantage as O'Reilly laid into Cole with repeated chair shots across the back. The Bucks, now recovered, would do the same to the former multi-time WWE tag team champions. The best tag team in the world lived up to expectations against London and Kendrick, dishing out plenty of superkicks to both men, but karma would come back around and the brothers would soon get a taste of their own medicine after Kendrick put a trash can on top of Nick for London to superkick. Kendrick then launched that crunched trash can right at Matt's face.

A ladder would be introduced at one point, which O'Reilly and Kendrick used to throw right at Nick Jackson while London hit a running shooting star press off the apron onto both Cole and Matt Jackson. No time for anyone in this match to catch their breath, even Excalibur and Chuck Taylor on commentary were having a hard time keeping up with things. That ladder would come into play again, this time propped up in the corner for Cole to launch Kendrick through it with a German suplex. The tide between these two teams would constantly shift back-and-forth at a moment's notice.

Thankfully for the sake of their bodies, this match did finally come to an end. That said, it wasn't a pleasant ending for Nick Jackson. Up on the rope rope, O'Reilly would hook Nick for an Avalanche Brainbuster straight onto a chair below to put an end to this contest after 26 minutes. But of course, you aren't allowed to have a happy ending with Mount Rushmore around as
    Kevin Steen
would run into the ring to take out the exhausted trio. The standing ovation from the fans quickly turned into boos as Steen and Cole put the boots to tonight's heroes while Matt helped his brother up.
    ACH
tries to help only to get blasted with the PWG World Championship. Things were looking dire as Steen picked up O'Reilly, looking to hit the Package Piledriver onto a pile of chairs…

And then the lights went out! There was an unseen commotion in the ring and when the lights came back on, a hooded man stood in the center of the ring. O'Reilly was now safe as Mount Rushmore recollected themselves outside of the ring thanks to this mystery man. The American Legion Post was shaking with excitement as the man lowered his hood to reveal…

Just got caught up reading the previous shows, you're doing some amazing work Atticus!

Appreciate the kind words and glad to have you on!

Bit of an unpredictable show, but I'll take it given how many near perfects we've had lately :p

I think the ACH push might come as a bit of a surprise, but I'm gonna try and build up some guys earlier than expected, just due to the fact WWE (or NJPW signing up every lightweight!!!!) might come sniffing for people sooner rather than later. So while some things stay the same, I'm throwing in some surprises.

Been real slow pushing out cards/results this month, but I've been sidetracked lately. Still got the final two shows in the can, so I'll try and have both of those out before All Out then an actual break as I'll dive back into the game and write up the 2014 shows. Next post should be another monthly update to cover the rest of October, all of November, and a bit of December!

The four men took turns ripping into PWG, the wrestlers, and the fans. A chorus of boos (and the occasional laugh) followed, but having heard enough, Excalibur snatched back the microphone from Cole. Excalibur mentions that the Bucks are defending their titles as a result of their actions at Night Two of BOLA, but regardless of what happens to Cole and the Bucks in their respective title matches, that's not enough. So next month, Cole and the Bucks will face off against, hopefully the new PWG World Champion, Paul London, Kyle O'Reilly, and a mystery opponent. IN GUERRILLA WARFARE! The crowd pops for this and the three men look ready to knock Excalibur's head off, but Steen gets in the way, calming them down, and letting them know he's got their back. Steen's words do the trick and the four men exit as the show officially gets underway.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The two teams showcased their comedic chops, but when it was time to be serious, they delivered on that front too. The crowd were happy to see the Hooligans get their first win following a Contract Killer on Rosas.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    2. Of course, the brutality of Steen has been well documented throughout his years in Reseda, but tonight he truly embraced "KILL STEEN KILL" with back-to-back-to-back Package Piledrivers on Nese. Referee Rick Knox helped Nese up to his feet after the match and he was thanked with a standing ovation from the crowd, eager to see him return.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    3. Their first official tag team match in PWG couldn't have gone better for the Best Friends. It's no secret what </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Chuck Taylor</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Trent?</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> have been capable of on their own, but they really clicked as a team. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>AR Fox</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> was determined to snap his losing streak with </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Rich Swann</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> by his side, but tonight just wasn't his night. There was a real hunger shown by Fox and Swann was just as eager to help his friend pick up the win. Though it'd be that aforementioned chemistry of Taylor and Trent? that would prove to be too tough of an obstacle for Fox and Swann to overcome.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    4. Right before intermission, the fans were treated to one of the craziest multi-man matches as </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>ACH</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> was able to hit his 450 splash on </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Drake Younger</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> after surviving a deadlift German suplex from </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Brian Cage</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> that saw him land right on his neck. And while ACH walked away with his hand raised, there's no doubt that </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Ricochet</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> was the star of this match. Splitting time between Dragon Gate and New Japan has done wonders for Ricochet as his fighting spirit was on display, bouncing back to his feet for a crisp dropkick on Younger following a ferocious lariat. Cage wowed the crowd with his strength as he held up ACH and Ricochet for a double stalling suplex. All around an incredible showing from each wrestler and while this wasn't an official number one contender's match, it does bode well for ACH going forward.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    5. Two men with something to prove came out after the break for a hard-hitting affair. </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kyle O'Reilly</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> was robbed of his spot in the finals of the Battle of Los Angeles and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Roderick Strong</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> knew he was just inches away from being there as well. Strong has truly risen through the ranks lately and he knew a win against O'Reilly would do wonders for him. But O'Reilly wrestled like a man possessed tonight, he would not stay down no matter what Strong threw at him. Revenge was the only thing on O'Reilly's mind as he kicked out of a Sick Kick on pure instinct. Similar to Steen earlier in the night, O'Reilly would hit back-to-back Brainbusters to put Strong down.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    6. Our first title match of the night, unfortunately, saw The Young Bucks retain against </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Candice LeRae</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Willie Mack</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">; the duo calling themselves the World's Toughest Cupcakes, decked out in matching blue and purple gear. But there's a reason </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Matt</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Nick Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> are the best tag team in the world. While the chemistry between LeRae and Mack was there, they still had some kinks to work out and the Bucks took advantage of that. That said, there were still some killer sequences from the Cupcakes. An avalanche exploder suplex from Mack would send Matt right into the center of the ring for an impressive moonsault from LeRae as well as stereo tope con hilos onto the Bucks later on. Perhaps even more impressive was Matt Jackson managing to lift Willie Mack up onto his shoulders for More Bang For Your Buck to see the brothers retain. No doubt the match of the night.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

    7. But the PWG World Championship title match would put up a fair argument. Winning the Battle of Los Angeles seemed like such a fair shot for </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Paul London</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">, but he did it and was looking to defy the odds one more time by taking </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Adam Cole</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">'s championship away from him. The two Battle of Los Angeles winners would wrestle for a grueling 30-minutes and Cole would have to pull out every trick in the book to keep his belt away from London's hands. A task that proved to be easier said than done.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Even in October, the temperature inside the American Legion Post was unbearable and this late in the night, it was even worse as the men were drenched in sweat not even 5 minutes in. Over the course of his BOLA run, London picked up a few things here and there, mainly the kicks of Kyle O'Reilly, laying into the legs and chest of Cole. At one point, it looked like we were due for an early London Calling, but Cole would leap to his feet and pop up for an enziguri to send London crashing to the outside. On commentary, Chuck Taylor speculates if it was the "white trash beard" that turned Adam Cole into a prick.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

This truly was a career-defining match for London as he pulled out all the stops, showcasing his technical ability and all that he learned from Shawn Michaels in his youth. Sadly, a scene all too familiar lately would occur as London was in prime position to hit his shooting star press only for the Bucks to take referee Rick Knox out of the ring to allow </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kevin Steen</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> to blast London with a nasty forearm. Channeling his old rival, Steen would just about kill London with a brainbuster on the top turnbuckle and roll him inside for a dazed Cole to pin. Referee Justin Borden rushed into the ring to make the cover.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

To say the Reseda fans were unhappy would be an understatement as Cole celebrated in the ring while </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Matt</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Nick Jackson</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> put the boots to London. And just like last month, the PWG locker room would once again pour out to send Mount Rushmore running to the hills. This time with </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>ACH</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> and </div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Kyle O'Reilly</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"> leading the charge. ACH grabbed a microphone and made it simple: He was calling his shot and wanted a chance at Adam Cole's PWG World Championship title. And it didn't look like O'Reilly was pleased at this development, but held his tongue as the crowd chanted ACH's name to close out the night.</div><p></span><span class="quick"><strong>Quick Results</strong></p><p>

  10. There was a time that this got you noticed, because it was different. I think partly folks chase that... but the only way to be different in this style is more extreme. And hey, it worked for Nick Gage. He got a buzz. He got a documentary. He got on AEW. I'm sure more youngsters will follow his example.

Love your whole post, but this part especially. I know it's easy to see a gif of someone doing something crazy/dumb, roll your eyes, and ask if it was worth it for a hot dog and a handshake or that the 10 people in attendance loved it, but a lot of guys do deathmatch wrestling for exposure and it leads to bookings. I mean even now, there's a good chunk of guys signed to WWE and AEW who have done deathmatches. Even if it doesn't necessarily translate to a WWE/AEW contract, it still gets your name out there. And for every deathmatch wrestler who doesn't make it big, there's probably 100s of "traditional" wrestlers who don't make it.

I know some promoters would pay guys a bit extra to do deathmatches, but not anything like to cover your month's rent or like that. But having seen deathmatches live and spoken to those who do it, it's definitely about the experience for most. Whether it be the adrenaline of doing it, the reaction from the fans, the tight knit community that comes with it or the creativity in the spots. There's a real art to deathmatch wrestling and I know, where's the art in smashing someone over the head with a VCR, I get it, but I've seen a lot of creative uses for weapons, spots and contraptions. CZW's various Cages of Death or the Tangled Web comes to mind.

I don't think I necessarily agree with the idea that deathmatch wrestlers have to keep pushing the boundaries to get reactions. I mean, the infamous CZW weedwhacker spot was in 2002 and I haven't seen anyone upgrade to a riding mower spot yet, but give it time I suppose. People still mark out for the first light tube breaking in every deathmatch just like people at WWE shows chant "We want tables" in every No DQ match after seeing them break the same way for the last 40+ years. And it always gets a reaction.

But I'm going off topic now. So to answer your question, lot of reasons why. I don't think a sport driven on trusting someone not to break your neck is going to be filled with the most well-adjusted individuals, but they love it. I watched Tracy Smothers a year before he died and I thought, "There's no reason a 54-year old man using a walking stick/cane to get around the venue needed to be taking bumps", but he did it, he had a blast doing it, the fans (including myself) marked out for him, and he stuck around to watch every other match. He loved doing it. He also was spraying himself down on stage after his match in clear view of everyone, but that's besides the point. Tracy rules.

    Kyle Greenwood huh :p

Also Ryan Drago was the first ever PWG loser, losing to Sara Amato in an opening match of their debut show. I was very surprised when I found out who that was

This blew my mind when I found this out as well. I guess I just always assumed Simon Gotch was an FCW guy who was there forever like some others at the time and hadn't done much outside of WWE.

Really not sure about the WWE Network idea. They’ve been selling pay per views at forty bucks a month for so long, and now they’re doing a whole streaming service? They’ll have to charge at least $20 a month to make it work, and I wouldn’t really want to pay that.

Very interesting to see del Sol and O’Reilly get WWE tryouts. They don’t feel like WWE’s kind of wrestler, but if they can get the bag, that’s awesome for them.

20 bucks is a lot, but at least I'll be able to watch all of WCW, Stampede, and everything else they own right away. They even said the old XFL games will be on there!

Maybe with them hiring PAC and Generico and putting them on SmackDown, they're gonna bring back the Cruiserweight title.

Though, there's still word going around that may change at any moment. More on that down below.</p><p> </p><p> A familiar face returns to TNA and that is <strong>Awesome Kong</strong>, who has signed an exclusive deal with the company. As you may recall, her run in WWE as Kharma was cut early due to pregnancy and after that, she just couldn't get ready in time for WWE even after a brief appearance in the 2012 Royal Rumble. Well now she's back in the company that gave her television exposure and just last week, the company rewarded her by having her go over reigning champion Gail Kim and Serena Deeb in a cage match at Bound For Glory.</p><p> </p><p> Last update also covered the birth of WWE's Performance Center. As mentioned, this Performance Center has been designed to make the transition from non-wrestling sports to wrestling a lot smoother and we're already starting to see that take place as some newer faces have made their debuts on the Florida house shows not too long after signing. One of those signings is a Columbus, Ohio native by the name of Alexis Kaufman, recently making her debut against Sasha Banks under the name <strong>Alexa Bliss</strong>. With a gymnastics and fitness modeling background, she's got a great base for what they love in a standard WWE Diva. Her height at an even 5-foot could give her difficulty, but considering how heavily they're featuring her on the house shows, we think she'll be just fine. Seems to be working with some cheerleader/fairy hybrid gimmick.</p><p> </p><p> The other noteworthy graduate is CJ Perry, now known as <strong>Lana</strong>. A really diverse background for her and a history of ballet and modeling as well. She's wrestled against Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Barbi Hayden (signed back in May) a handful of times on the house shows. Though no one expected her to be great out of the gate, there's already some talks about transitioning Lana to a manager role or backstage interviewer. Lana grew up in Latvia and her familiarity with Eastern Europe might see her fall into the cliched evil foreigner role.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Notable Departures</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> We talked about the signing of Ted DiBiase Sr. in the last update, maybe to pair with his son, but a week after covering so, <strong>Ted DiBiase Jr.</strong> was let go from the company. Interesting timing and the reasoning going around at the time was that DiBiase Jr. was possibly going to step away from wrestling, but he's recently been working untelevised OVW events, so who knows.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tara</strong>, once known as Victoria in WWE, wrapped up her time in TNA after finishing her program against Serena Deeb. Tara had been with the company since 2009, but was starting to see less and less time on TV, so this isn't a complete shock. Five reigns as the Knockouts Champion in the company and no doubt she'd be welcomed back any time. At 42, Tara intends to wrestle under her real name, Lisa Marie Varon on the independents until someone gives her a call back.</p><p> </p><p> As talked about last month, both <strong>Steve Corino</strong> and <strong>Akira Tozawa</strong> have finished their remaining dates before heading to TNA and NJPW respectively. Tozawa's final match in Dragon Gate was him and Dragon Kid dropping the Open The Twin Gates titles to Ricochet and Naoki Tanizaki.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Notable Retirements</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> At the end of the year, we can expect to see <strong>Yoshihiro Takayama</strong> wrestle his last match. Currently spending time in NOAH and ZERO1, Takayama made his announcement following a show in September. With a lot of mileage under him from both wrestling and a limited MMA career, Takayama cited his body as the reason he wanted to hang his boots up. Some thought the 47-year old would become more of a gatekeeper for a few more years, but Takayama seems content with his career and health to call this his last year in the ring. There's early speculation that his final match could be against old rivals Jun Akiyama and Go Shiozaki.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Akira Taue</strong> had his final match earlier in October against KENTA. Taue originally wanted to finish up by the end of the year similar to Takayama, but father time was calling quicker than anticipated. The last remaining member of the legendary AJPW Four Pillars of Wrestling. A retirement ceremony was held in NOAH for him and his old friend and tag team partner Toshiaki Kawada was there to see him off. It looks like now Taue will transition to a backstage role in NOAH, even talks of him becoming the next president of the company. We've also heard Taue's had some interest in opening up his own restaurant like Kawada.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Misc. News</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> In late May, the partnership between OVW and TNA came to an end and the reasoning has become a bit more clear now. For the longest time the company was content with staying where it was, but lately they've been branching out more and more. Not saying they're going to be a threat to WWE or even TNA any time soon, but they're a company to keep an eye on, especially if they keep running their school on top of it for a feeder system.</p><p> </p><p> In August, Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling officially became a company underneath the DDT umbrella. They ran some shows until the TJP banner last year, but now it looks like they're intent on becoming a full time company. Though there does seem to be some confusion if TJP will stand on its own or if it's meant to act as a feeder system for DDT. Regardless, definitely a company to keep your eye on.</p><p> </p><p> More WWE re-signings including head trainer <strong>Sara Amato</strong>, <strong>Cameron</strong>, <strong>Bayley</strong>, <strong>Alex Riley</strong>, <strong>Luke Harper</strong>, <strong>Baron Corbin</strong>, <strong>Kane</strong>, <strong>Damien Sandow</strong>, and <strong>Natayla Neidhart</strong>. Along with that news, we've also seen <strong>William Regal</strong>, <strong>Xavier Woods</strong>, <strong>Big E. Langston</strong>, <strong>Adrian Neville</strong>, and <strong>Corey Graves </strong>make their way to the main roster. With Regal, we understand that he's still going to be overseeing a lot of duties at the Performance Center and is only set to make an occasional appearance on RAW. Big E, who had already been splitting his time between NXT and SmackDown, is now a full-time member of the brand. Corey Graves also joins fellow former NXT Champions Big E and Kassius Ohno as a member of SmackDown, making it three former NXT Champions on the same brand.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Randy Orton</strong> became the new <strong>WWE Champion</strong> in September after cashing in his title shot against John Cena. <strong>CM Punk</strong> is still holding onto his title shot as <strong>Dolph Ziggler</strong>'s impressive 6-month reign continues. In NJPW, <strong>Hirooki Goto</strong> finally overcame the hump and captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship from Kazuchika Okada. With <strong>Katsuyori Shibata</strong>'s G1 victory, the two friends seem set on a path for Wrestle Kingdom next year, but Goto will first have to survive his rematch against Okada, stemming from his loss against the former champion in the G1 Climax. And on the topic of tournaments, <strong>Paul London</strong> has seen a bit of a resurgence in his career after winning PWG's Battle of Los Angeles in August.</p><p> </p><p> An interesting decision by the company. Heading into the tournament season, there were ideas of Kyle O'Reilly, Michael Elgin or even Kevin Steen winning the Battle of Los Angeles. London has had an up-and-down career on the independents, but this seems like a move that'll give him some stability. At the very least, it's gotten the people talking. The Reseda crowd took well to London's winning, but you almost have to wonder if someone more over with the crowd like an O'Reilly or even Drake Younger should've been the call. Time will tell though.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Rumor Roundup</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> As mentioned at the top of the article, New Japan Pro Wrestling has had a quiet few months after signing Akira Tozawa, Kenoh, and Kenny Omega, but word is they're trying to make one more big signing before the year is over. The money that New Japan is supposedly willing to spend on this wrestler might be enough to make the leap to the company. Somewhat related to this rumor is New Japan's reported interest in expanding their presence, specifically in North America.</p><p> </p><p> Another interesting tie-in is the WWE Network, which has been teased for a couple years now, appears to finally be a reality and is supposedly launching sometime early next year. Originally thought to be a paid channel on cable providers, it seems like the WWE Network will work as an on-demand service similar to Netflix and Hulu with a plethora of old WWE content and the tape libraries they own. If successful, this could send waves throughout the industry, and if a company like New Japan is interested in appealing to a wider audience, mirroring the WWE Network could be the move.</p><p> </p><p> With the birth of the Performance Center, the impending arrival of the WWE Network, and the rise in popularity of NXT, it seems like WWE are eager to snag more independent talent to help cover all their bases. We can now confirm that <strong>William Regal</strong> was indeed there for both nights of the Battle of Los Angeles tournament and it's no surprise that since then a handful of PWG talent have received tryouts. In a slightly surprising move, WWE.com posted an article detailing some of the participants at their second tryout out of the year and while it isn't the full list, it's participants that WWE sought to single out, here's an excerpt of that below.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="53342" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p><img alt="kvfSTrW.png" data-src="https://i.imgur.com/kvfSTrW.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span class="tryouts">WWE's second domestic talent tryout of 2013, featuring more than 30 athletes, is underway this week at the WWE Performance Center.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> This camp is the final WWE tryout of 2013. Again, unable to pinpoint any names at the moment, but we've heard that there are wrestlers in both WWE and TNA looking to get out of their contracts sooner rather than later. Some wrestlers in WWE have critiqued the recent NXT call-ups and the lack of direction many of them are facing as an ominous sign for the future for NXT. In the past, it's been referred to as "Spring Cleaning", where numerous talent would be let go, but as of recent years, WWE has seen that as bad publicity and has eased back on mass releases. Though, don't be surprised if some talent are granted their releases before the year is through or sometime early next year.</p><p> </p><p> While in TNA, the mixture of Dixie, Hogan, and vague rumors that <strong>Vince Russo</strong> is back working for the company has created a lot of tension backstage. There have been longstanding rumors that talent such as AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, and Matt Morgan have been itching to leave the company. Whether those reasons are strictly creative or personal (or both in this company's case), we'll see if WWE comes calling for any of these three names. </div></p></div><p><hr width=512px; size=1></p><p> </p><p> Whew. "The second the 'OLE' chants ended, it was replaced by 'LONDON! LONDON! LONDON!' or 'O'REILLY! O'REILLY! O'REILLY!' Where's my f**king chant?!" A seething Kevin Steen barked at the camera with Adam Cole, Matt & Nick Jackson behind him. What happened tonight isn't Steen's fault, it's Reseda's. Steen can't wrap his head around why every fan in the building isn't chanting "KILL! STEEN! KILL!" when he shows up in PWG. For there to be even one or two fans going against him, that's a criminal offense. Steen points to the Bucks next to him, saying the PWG fans turned their backs on the PWG World Tag Team Champions too. Steen then turns to Cole, their history no secret, and Steen glares at the PWG World Champion for a second, causing the arrogant smirk on Cole's face to be wiped away. "You? I'll get to you later."

With his attention back toward the camera, "But you see, I'm Kevin Steen! And I made this goddamn place!" Steen continues to run down the fans. He points back to the night El Generico left this company and that he was just an afterthought in the ring. The streamers, the chants, the applause, they were all for Generico. Even though Generico was leaving Reseda behind, the crowd couldn't help themselves, but chanted for him regardless. And while Steen doesn't explicitly say where Generico went, we've all got the idea. Cole pats Steen on the back of the shoulder and this prompts Steen to turn back toward him yet again.

"You? I hate you. So much. You are such a piece of shit." With Steen's finger pointed right in Cole's face and now the Bucks are starting to get a bit anxious as to where this is going. "But I'm a piece of shit. I can appreciate pieces of shit. And they always say, 'If you can't beat'em, join'em.'" Steen's tone is picking up again as that arrogant smirk has returned and Steen is tapping on Cole's chest, screaming out "I got your goddamn back!" It doesn't matter who stands in Adam Cole's way because Kevin Steen is going to be there to make sure they all suck...well, you know the rest.

But not for the good Christian boys, not for The Young Bucks. The PWG fans took Steen for granted, he said, they took the Bucks for granted for years, but now they love them. It's too late! Steen pauses for a brief moment to apologize for his harsh language and Matt tells him he's already censoring it all in his head. But more importantly, it's too late to love them now. It's too late for PWG. They are the champions and Steen doesn't need a belt, "I'm the champion of the universe." he says.

The fact that the PWG crowd were cheering for a WWE reject makes Steen sick. The fact that they were cheering for Paul London against him is unforgivable. Steen pulls the other three men in, wrapping his arms around their shoulders, and caps this all off by saying

"We are the Mount Rushmore of Professional Wrestling..."

"And this is just the beginning…"

    </div>

    <hr width=512px; size=1>

And that, ladies and gents, is the 2013 Battle of Los Angeles. A slightly different course and a winner that is definitely out of left field, hopefully one that is seen as possible. Telling a story in PWG can be a bit tricky due to its format, but we're on the path to one I hope I can successfully deliver. A similar ending and aftermath, but I think it's hard to envision this era of PWG without Mount Rushmore. Now things will be getting a little wild.

Killer show, although Samuray del Sol lost!

Delighted to be here. VERY MAD AT SOME OF THE RESULTS but excited to see how the tournament continues.

How DARE you beat Samuray AND Gargano :'(

Love the love for del Sol! Really enjoyed his two PWG showings before he VANISHED. He's sticking around longer than anticipated here though, but you never know who may come calling for a good lucha thing.

As for Gargano, well, who knows what's coming down the line for him :p

Well, my pick fell at the first hurdle. It's a good job I'm not a gambling man. :p

Haha, your reasoning for Elgin was solid though! No shame in that :D Him vs. O'Reilly was a first round match I had thought of before the game started, just to throw all predictions out the window. Love a good bit of bracket busting.

Well, expecting a baby has had me mad busy, but glad I found my way to this!

You already know how I feel about you and PWG diaries. :D Excited to see what's next.

I missed that show, but I'll go for the Bonus: I'm torn between Steen, Rico, and Roddy.. though I love London and Cage at this point IRL going through to the next round. I'll pick Roderick Strong by a hair.

Was wondering when you were gonna pop in :p But more importantly, holy shit, congrats on the baby!

Glad to have you here and hope I can deliver! I think you were there for my first PWG dynasty, but I guess that has gone to the great archive in the sky somewhere. Really can't go wrong with any of those guys. London is a dude who I always thought could've carved out a spot for himself on the independents, especially during this time, and someone I've liked a ton. I had plans if I was gonna do an ROH dynasty, he was gonna be the cornerstone for it.

Next post will be the news update and then the card for MATT RUSHMORE should be up sometime before the weekend.

    <span class="showinfo">2013 Battle of Los Angeles - Night Two \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.08.31</span>

    <div class="resultbackground"><span class="show">

    1. Starting off the night yet again is
    Kevin Steen
and he put together another great performance, this time against
    Ricochet
. After beating Trent? the night before, the crowd was eager to see what Ricochet could pull off against the PWG icon. That said, Steen didn't have any time for Ricochet and his flips, doing everything in his wheelhouse to keep the junior grounded. A pop-up powerbomb onto the apron would've shattered any normal person's spine, but Ricochet is far from normal and that 630 Senton of his showcases that. However, Steen was ready for it and after rolling out of the way, the Package Piledriver would do its job for the Canadian to earn a spot in the semi-final.

    2. After facing Willie Mack,
    ACH
    was a needed refresher for
    Paul London
, but what ACH lacked in Mack's power, he made up for it by being just a bit faster than London. However, that sheer speed of ACH was no match for London's veteran mindset. It's not often you think of London as that grizzled veteran, but that's exactly who he was for this one as he needed all ten plus years of experience to find a way to avoid ACH's deadly 450 splash. ACH wowed the crowd and even got a smile out of London following some of his theatrics, but it just wasn't enough tonight for him as London's run continued.

    3. Having kept himself relatively fresh after last night,
    Drake Younger
was looking to make short work of
    Kyle O'Reilly
, but the British Columbia native had scouted out Younger's performance from Night One and was ready for it. Younger looked to make this another all-out brawl, scrapfest, but Kyle O'Reilly is not the guy you want to test in that department, more than willing to dish out the exact same damage. The real difference maker here was O'Reilly's technical game and while Younger is a tough son of a bitch with the Reseda faithful behind him, there was nothing he could do once O'Reilly slapped on that triangle choke and referee Justin Borden called for the bell as Younger began to fade.

    4. The last quarter-final match saw
    Roderick Strong
pick up a tough win against
    Brian Cage
, who wasn't going down without a fight. Back at TEN, we saw a glimpse of what these two were capable of against one another and it was ugly - in the best way possible. Cage was willing to go blow-for-blow with Strong and he paid for it with a busted nose thanks to a leaping knee strike. The blood pouring from Cage created a horrifying visual as the machine went on a rampage against Strong, holding him up for nearly a minute at one point in a suplex hold and a deadlift German suplex after it. Though, for as tough as Cage is, Strong is right there with him and would not be denied the win tonight.

5.Right before intermission, the crowd got a chance to relax a bit as this six-person tag match slowed things down with some comic relief. There were still some great moments though, such as
    Tommaso Ciampa
hitting a trio of lariats that turned
    Candice LeRae
    ,
    TJ Perkins
    , AND
    Willie Mack
    inside out.
    AR Fox
    and
    Rich Swann
even got a brief dance-off started that saw LeRae bust out her best Elaine dance before Perkins put an end to things with a Tiger Suplex onto Swann. Talk about a party foul. The final sequence of the match was a back-and-forth trading of pins between LeRae and Ciampa before LeRae finally managed to keep Ciampa down to give her team the victory.

    6. Back to tournament action and
    Paul London
continued his incredible BOLA run with a win against
    Roderick Strong
after his London Calling. A rematch from BOLA 2010. Worth noting is London's tour of the incredible styles presented in PWG: Mack's power, ACH's speed, and Strong's intensity all in two days. And not to take away from Strong, who has had a great tournament run himself and has really started to showcase what he's capable of. But London has been a man on a mission himself. Unable to break London's nose, Strong settled on just trying to break his back instead with a variety of backbreakers and a crazy back body drop onto the ring apron at one point while the two were outside. But a running Shooting Star Press off the apron would pave way for another one inside the ring for London to punch him into the final.

    7. Who would London face in the final? It's an interesting story as
    Kyle O'Reilly
    and
    Kevin Steen
squared off for the first time in a PWG ring. The story of this tournament for O'Reilly has been his attempt to replicate what his Future Shock teammate did last night while Steen was looking to add the one thing that has eluded him during his time in PWG. Needless to say, an incredible match would unfold as O'Reilly would hit a Brainbuster on the apron and Steen would return the favor later on with a pop-up powerbomb onto the edge of the ring. Both men treated this semi-final match as if it was the final round. But what would change the tide of this match was an errant shot from Steen taking out referee Rick Knox, similar to the scene from Is Your Body Ready?

    And
    Adam Cole
would make his presence known again, PWG World Championship in his hands again, and he looked to take Steen's head off! But Kevin was ready for it this time, ducking it, and Cole would crash the belt into O'Reilly's face instead! Steen quickly threw Cole out of the ring, picked O'Reilly up for the Package Piledriver, and referee Justin Borden arrived just in time to make the three! It's no secret the differences shared between Cole and O'Reilly lately, but Cole insists that he was just trying to help out his friend as a dejected O'Reilly made his way to the back.

    8.
    Adam Cole
would stay out ringside for the next match with The Young Bucks joining him for the 2nd non-tournament match of the night. Dubbing themselves as the Best Friends,
    Chuck Taylor
    and
    Trent?
put together a spectacular display of teamwork while
    Johnny Gargano
acted a bit like the third wheel. While the duo of Taylor and Gargano have given the Bucks trouble before,
    Matt
    and
    Nick Jackson
were taken aback by the duo of Taylor and Trent? Worth noting in this match was Cole practically being booed out of the building after accidentally taking out the crowd favorite in the match prior. A great match and the three most hated men in Reseda would continue their hot streaks despite the heroics from the Best Friends.

    9. With the stakes higher than ever for this rematch from the first night of All Star Weekend earlier in the year,
    Kevin Steen
    and
    Paul London
were determined to make history in this one. On commentary, Excalibur points out the fact that the last time Kevin Steen was in the BOLA finals, he was against El Generico and now he's back here again after 2 years against the man Generico held the PWG World Tag Team Championships with back in 2010 for nearly a year. A handshake between the two before the match and referee Rick Knox signaled for the bell.

The Reseda faithful were treated to back-to-back great matches and this one was no different. The wear and tear of the tournament mixed with the American Legion Post being the hottest it had been all night created a tense atmosphere; neither man wanted to take the wrong first step. Both wrestlers had to be perfect if they wanted to win this one and unsurprisingly, this match came down to the wire. You wouldn't think these men wrestled three grueling matches in two days after this one went over the twenty minute mark. The action spilled to the outside and we'd see London thrown into the wall of the building and Steen would survive a Dragon Suplex onto some chairs.

When Rick Knox got things back inside the ring, things would settle down, but only slightly. The match finally came to an end after Steen hit an F-5 on London and looked for the Package Piledriver! But London would escape it, drilling Steen with two superkicks in a row to put him down, a standing shoot star press, and finally heading up top for the London Calling! The bell rang, fans rushed to slap their hands on the edge of the ring, and streamers covered everyone inside of it as Knox presented Paul London with the Battle of Los Angeles trophy. A beautiful moment to cap off an exhausting weekend…

But it wasn't over yet as
    Adam Cole
came out to congratulate London, acknowledging him as his next challenger...and as the next man Cole would put down. The fans were booing Cole loud enough to make him pause, but as he tried to speak again, London drilled him with a superkick to a huge pop! Until The Young Bucks came running into the ring to jump the BOLA winner and help Cole out. The three beat down London until
    Candice LeRae
ran in to help out! Only for a stereo superkick from
    Matt
    and
    Nick Jackson
    to put her down.
    Willie Mack
was out next, able to take out the Bucks, but Cole would drive the PWG World Championship into Mack's head. Fan favorite
    Drake Younger
would join in to help out, but would suffer the same fate.

    The one equalizer though was
    Kyle O'Reilly
armed with a steel chair! If there was any hope of a Future Shock reunion, it came to an end here as O'Reilly was ready to swing that chair at Cole, but he'd get stopped and spun around into a Package Piledriver from Kevin Steen! The Reseda fans could not believe it as Steen embraced the Bucks and his long time rival Adam Cole! And he wasn't done as he picked up LeRae for a Package Piledriver! Steen snapped London's trophy over his knee and looked for a Package Piledriver on London, but more of the PWG roster ran into the ring to send the four most hated men in Reseda running. "What the f*ck" chants broke out; a sentiment shared by everyone in the building.

London recovered, helping O'Reilly to his feet in the process, and the BOLA winner would take a microphone, cutting a passionate promo in the aftermath of what just unfolded. He thanked the wrestlers, the staff, and fans before making it clear that at the next show, he'd be taking the PWG World Championship from Adam Cole, resulting in a roar from the crowd as the show came to a close.

  15. Appreciate the predictions, gang! Fun first night and in true BOLA fashion, the card for for Night Two is going to be a mystery~ ooOOoOoooOoOOooO how exciting! Results for that should be up tomorrow or Thursday, followed by a lil news update, and next card. Also props to CGN91 for a perfect night one!

I haven't really known anything about independent wrestling until this year. Only just starting now to learn the big names. I'm excited to watch the careers of these guys play out, knowing that I only knew them after they had already hit it big. So many future stars in this tournament. The dollar signs have to be surrounding Steen right now, but he has to get at least one more big opportunity. Not against Cole, though.

Definitely an exciting time for independent wrestling then and now really. It's crazy to look at BOLA tournaments from the mid-2010s and seeing how many guys are signed to WWE, AEW or NJPW. If I'm not mistaken, I think everyone in the irl 2014 BOLA signed with one of those 3 companies at some point. Glad to have you on board!

I find it fascinating that everyone picked different BOLA winners so far. Keep the traditions, lads from the future :p

Enjoyed this aspect as well! Wouldn't be BOLA without feeling confident about a winner only for them to lose in the first round. LOOKING AT YOU, 2017 TREVOR LEE.

    <span class="showinfo">2013 Battle of Los Angeles - Night One \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.08.30</span>

    <div class="resultbackground"><span class="show">

    1. Opening BOLA 2013 is a fun one as
    Kevin Steen
    defeated
    Chuck Taylor
in their first round match up. A slightly more serious Taylor showcased his wrestling ability here as Steen was willing to yuck it up with him, but was just as hungry for this win. Neither man wanted to be the first one eliminated from the tournament. A battle of crowd favorites and Taylor did enough to make them believe, but not enough to actually get the job done against Steen.

    2. We haven't seen
    Trent?
since March as he's fresh off a Best of the Super Juniors run and here he looked for revenge against a man who beat him in that very same tournament in
    Ricochet
. Trent? didn't have any issue letting Ricochet know he hadn't forgotten their last encounter and was eager to get that win back at any cost. Even saw a bit of disrespect from Trent? at one point when he scraped his boot across Ricochet's face, but karma came back in the form of a 630 Senton and first round exit. After the match, there seemed to be no hard feelings as Ricochet offered a hand to Trent? and he reluctantly accepted it.

    3. A hell of a challenge for
    Paul London
awaited him in the form of
    Willie Mack
, but it was a challenge he would beat. It had been some time since London faced a wrestler of Mack's caliber and it was obvious that Mack gave him some serious trouble early on, but the longer the match went on, the more London was able to figure him out. Of course, Willie Mack isn't someone you want to face too long, especially in a tournament format. However, London would escape this one with minimum damage and MAck definitely earned the respect of the veteran.

    4. Another David vs. Goliath matchup, but this story didn't have as happy an ending as the previous match.
    Rich Swann
tried his damndest, using that incredible speed and agility of his to try and tire
    Brian Cage
out, but that man is an F'N machine for a reason. There was plenty of gas in the tank for Cage. A massive 450 Splash from Swann nearly gave him the win, but Cage would kick out and it was all downhill for Swann after that. Mr. GMSI advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

    5. Since his debut in PWG,
    Samuray del Sol
has done nothing, but constantly wow the crowd and tonight was no different as he seemingly met his match in
    ACH
. The Reseda faithful watched a classic unfold before their eyes thanks to incredible moments such as del Sol popped off the turnbuckle for a reverse hurricanrana that resulted in a 2.9 and ACH coming back later in the match with a massive frog splash for a near fall of his own. Eventually the match would slow down and give the fans a chance to catch their breath after ACH's Best 450 Ever put this one to rest.

    6. Prior to this match,
    Tommaso Ciampa
uploaded a video on YouTube, highlighting what finally being in BOLA meant for him and he didn't waste that opportunity. Unfortunately his first night ended in a defeat against
    Roderick Strong
, but Ciampa did more than enough to earn another chance down the line. A completely different match than the one before as these two fought one another like they had been rivals for a decade. Ciampa packed on a bit more muscle compared to Strong, but that didn't mean Strong's strikes were any weaker as he drilled Ciampa a couple times with some sick knee strikes. What finally won Ciampa over with the crowd was not one German suplex, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE in a row on Strong, who kicked out of the final one just in time. An impressive showing from both men, definitely ones to keep your eyes on.

    7. The battle of underdogs followed and it was
    Drake Younger
who would leave this one with his hand raised. Tonight marked
    Johnny Gargano
's first singles match in PWG and without Chuck Taylor by his side, Gargano proved that he could hang with the best of the best, even in defeat. This was a surprisingly scrappy match as Younger was well aware of his cardio shortcomings and tried to wrap this one up as quickly as possible. And it worked. Gargano wasn't quite ready for this strategy from Younger as the deathmatch icon literally clawed his way out of the Garga-No-Escape at one point, allowing Younger to stay alive long enough to eventually hit his Drake's Landing a bit later on.

    8. Our final first round match of the tournament saw
    Kyle O'Reilly
respond in a huge way after his loss to Paul London earlier in the month as he not only beat last year's runner-up
    Michael Elgin
, but he made the man tap out. While you wouldn't know it by looking at him, Elgin's an agile man and that mixed with his power made for a dangerous combination that O'Reilly had to weather the storm against. O'Reilly's signature Brainbuster wasn't even enough to keep Elgin down. And things looked dire for O'Reilly as Elgin was setting him up for that Spinning Liger Bomb that had put down so many, but O'Reilly caught Elgin off-guard by pulling him down into the Triangle Choke that booked O'Reilly's spot in the next round.

    9. The last match of the night would also be the first non-tournament action we'd see until Night Two.
    TJ Perkins
would make his first PWG appearance since his meniscus tear earlier in the year and there was definitely a bit of ring rust on display.
    AR Fox
    and
    Candice LeRae
did their best to make up for it, but
    Adam Cole
and The Young Bucks were just too much for them. A match of the night performance regardless though as Perkins refused to let his time away from the ring slow him down.
    Matt Jackson
was in top form for this one and was handing out superkicks like candy with his brother right alongside him. But perhaps the most interesting wrestler of this match would be Candice LeRae.

Slowly, but surely, LeRae has become a fan favorite in PWG and tonight's performance demonstrated why that is. A never-say-die attitude from LeRae as a Balls-plex onto
    Nick Jackson
was followed by a suicide dive turn tornado DDT onto Matt on the outside and she dished out a taste of their own medicine with a superkick to Cole to cap that off. And despite his cold streak lately, Fox was on fire with his Lo Mein Pain onto Nick would've won them the match if not for Matt saving his brother. Ultimately, it'd be the tag team experience of The Young Bucks that helped clean up the ring for Cole's Straight-jacket German Suplex onto Fox to put a bow on the first night of BOLA 2013.

Slowly becoming a staple of the California indy scene, Willie Mack is starting to look like a can't-miss prospect. Sometimes bordering 260 pounds, it's hard to believe it when you watch this man move around inside the ring. There's no reason a guy of his size should be able to pull off flips as smoothly as he does, but Willie Mack does it time and time again. Mack is putting together the tools for success, all he needs now is that spark to truly ignite his career. The Battle of Los Angeles could be exactly that for Mack.

The sky's the limit for Willie Mack and California may have a new star breaking out after this weekend.

What is there to really say about Trent? He's weird. He's different. He has the looks and the tools to be at the top of the card anywhere in the world. But Trent? doesn't feel the pressure to be great. It just happens naturally, whether he's trying or not. Wrestling is the only thing Trent? knows and it shows. It even earned him a spot in New Japan and despite his "free spirit" nature, there's a reason he was signed to a developmental deal at the age of 20 years old.

If Trent? wants to, this tournament could very well be his. And maybe it will be if Trent? wants it. Then again, who knows what Trent? wants.

It's hard to believe there was a time where Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly weren't just tag team partners, but friends. O'Reilly insists on fighting with honor, earning the respect of the fans while Cole...not so much. And maybe Cole's got a point, he won last year's Battle of Los Angeles; O'Reilly was eliminated in the first round. Cole won the PWG World Championship; O'Reilly's got nothing. But that can all change in the matter of two days. Since December of last year, O'Reilly's been forced to live in the shadow of Adam Cole and he would love nothing more than to break out of that.

Could we see back-to-back BOLA wins from the Future Shock members? Too early to tell, but Kyle O'Reilly is a man on a mission and if things go his way, we may see a war that could change the PWG landscape heading into next year.

It'll be an uphill battle for Swann all along the way, but don't let him hear you say that, he's making his own odds in the Battle of Los Angeles.

Swann's infectious energy might just be what he needs to hold his own throughout the BOLA weekend and the Reseda faithful may just be chanting for him All Weekend Long.

The Cleveland native Johnny Gargano has started to show some serious interest in competing on his own as of late and so far, it's hard to argue with the results out in the Midwest and East Coast. Now Gargano's got his heart set on making his name out on the West Coast too and even if he can't pull off a BOLA win, all he needs is one opportunity to showcase just what he can do. Like him or hate him, you can't deny what Gargano is doing across the American wrestling scene and the crowd is starting to show their appreciation for him.

But Johnny Gargano isn't competing this weekend to settle for one opportunity, he's going to win the whole damn thing, and after that, he's bringing home another championship to Cleveland.

For the first few years of Tommaso Ciampa's career, he'd say he was lost. He earned himself a WWE contract, but an injury cut any chance of him making it and before the year was over, Ciampa found himself out of a job. Now, revitalized and with a new found purpose, Ciampa requested a chance to show what he's got in PWG and there's no better way to do that than making your debut in the Battle of Los Angeles tournament. And you already know given his numerous nicknames, Ciampa isn't going down without a fight.

Ring of Honor has only gotten a glimpse of what Tommaso Ciampa brings and now it's Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's turn to see what the Psycho Killer has in store for California.

Occasionally you'll hear a wrestler's nickname on the independents and scoff at it. That's not the case with Brian Cage, who might literally be a machine. The transformation of Cage has been nothing short of incredible over the few years and there's a reason he's drawn comparisons to Wolverine in the past, granted, a couple inches taller. Cage possesses the strength of some seven-foot tall giant, but the agility of a cruiserweight. He won't be pulling off 630 Sentons anytime soon, but blink and you might find yourself on the receiving end of a nightmarish combo from Cage.

It's hard not to find a reason to call Brian Cage a favorite in the tournament. There aren't many out there like him and the Battle of Los Angeles is lucky enough to witness him try to win it all.

Not even a few months into his career, Paul London had his first match in the WWE and would go on to become a staple of the early ROH rosters before signing full time in mid-2003 with the WWE. Unfortunately, you know how his story ended there and even London would admit he was a bit lost after his release. But now fully healthy and with a goal in mind, London returned to PWG to finish what he started back in 2010, this time, by himself. A three match winning streak since his return earlier in the year is one way to show how serious London is taking this, including an upset victory over Kyle O'Reilly a few weeks ago.

London's known for his breathtaking Shooting Star Press, but over the years, London has truly perfected his craft and he wants the world to know it. The story of Paul London may have closed back in 2008, but now, it might be time for the sequel.</div>

With all the buzz around his name, there's a lot of pressure for del Sol to perform, and winning BOLA could very well make him a made man in the world of professional wrestling.

He's no stranger to this tournament format, having won the King of Flight tournament hosted by Brian Kendrick back in March, besting Paul London, AR Fox, and Ricochet in a single night. Could we see Samuray del Sol pull it off again?

One of the veterans in the Battle of Los Angeles is none other than a man who has not only competed in 8 BOLAs in the past, but he's also participated in 5 DDT4 tournaments and won two of them. That man, of course, is Roderick Strong. Having made it to the finals two times (2007 & 2009), will this be the year Strong finally puts together the run of his career to win the elusive Battle of Los Angeles trophy? Difficult to say for certain, but it does look promising for Strong, looking to be in the best shape of his career.

Yet despite all this, Roderick Strong almost feels a bit overlooked and for that reason, he could be seen as a dark horse favorite to win it all. Strong will no doubt look to prove that he should be the clear cut favorite, not just the dark horse.

Ricochet's first appearance in PWG was in the 2010 Battle of Los Angeles tournament and while he fell short against Claudio Castagnoli in the first round, there's absolutely no shame in that and it was enough to get a call back. And since then, the world has just watched in awe as Ricochet's stock has rapidly risen over the years, even earning himself a spot in his first ever Best of the Super Juniors earlier in the year, putting up a respectable 10 points. He's also stepped foot in the rising PROGRESS Wrestling in England as well as wXw in Germany and Ricochet has shown no signs of slowing down.

Why would this tournament be any different? At the age of 24, Ricochet is already an eight year veteran of the industry and has seen more of the wrestling world than some of the other veterans in this tournament.

Hailing from Austin, Texas, there's a reason you'll hear the crowds all over the country chant "GO! GO! ACH!" A wrestler as electrifying as the Dragon Ball Z character he idolizes, ACH is on track to have a breakout year. Becoming a full time member of the Ring of Honor roster earlier in the year, ACH has only given us a sneak peek at what he's capable of. No doubt that ACH earned his spot in this tournament after his match against AR Fox at PWG TEN a few weeks prior and he's determined to keep coming back. And what better way to do that than by winning the Battle of Los Angeles?

An underdog in the tournament, but there's a sneaky strength to ACH that some unfortunate soul (or souls) in the tournament may overlook and that might just be what ACH needs to go Super Saiyan.

There aren't many men who are synonymous with PWG still wrestling for the company, but the three-time PWG World Champion Kevin Steen is one of them. Steen's done just about everything there is to do in PWG, but won the Battle of Los Angeles. And given his history with Adam Cole, there's no question that Steen will want to finish his business with the PWG World Champion, and winning this would give him the one-on-one title shot he wants. Easier said than done, but who are we to doubt the ability of Kevin Steen?

Steen made it to the finals back in 2011 before losing to long-time friend/rival El Generico and back in January, the two made it to the final of DDT4 before losing to The Young Bucks. With that chip on his shoulder as well as the fact that Generico has gone on to bigger, better things, this might be Steen's tournament to lose.

A finalist in his first appearance, Michael Elgin will no doubt look to replicate his success from last year, and do what's necessary to take him to the next level. It may be easy to forget what Elgin can do inside the ring as a singles competitor as he's spent most of 2013 in PWG alongside his tag team partner Brian Cage, even becoming a PWG World Tag Team Champion for an hour, but Elgin is capable of winning this whole thing. Though with last year's tape made available to the competitors, Elgin will have to up his game this time around.

Will Elgin manage to shock the system and win the whole thing this year?

The discussion about what kind of wrestler Chuck Taylor is is an interesting one. Some see him as a comedy guy only and know him from his infamous CHIKARA and IWA-MS clips, scaring kids and occasionally threatening to kill them. But once you look past all of that, you get an extraordinary wrestler and former multi-time champion throughout the independents. It's very easy to underestimate Chuck Taylor and honestly, he'd probably agree with you, but we like to think Chuckie T has a chance and if there was ever a time for something strange to happen, it'd be in Reseda.

If Taylor was to ever take himself seriously (or even a bit more serious), he'd be a legitimate threat. And who knows? Maybe this year will be the year?

Even in defeat, it's hard to argue that 2013 has not been Drake Younger's year in PWG. The fans love him and it's easy to see why given Younger's never-say-die attitude and his willingness to put his body on the line to win. If things had gone just a bit differently, we'd be talking about PWG World Champion Drake Younger, but alas, here we are. Younger has had an incredible life transformation to get to this point and he wants nothing more than to get one more shot at Adam Cole before the year is over.

However, there are some critics in the tournament that question Younger's stamina in the tournament and if his wartorn body will be able to hold up in multiple matches. Younger will look to silence those critics with a potentially heroic run over BOLA weekend.</div>

lifting from dean for the Twitter announcement because I could not for the life of me think of a way to do that. Hope you guys enjoy this little preview, I've got most of the 2nd part written up and might post it later tonight? Or early tomorrow and then the card for Night One will follow shortly after that. So maybe 3 posts tonight if I'm feeling frisky.

I think Candice blowing up the way she did inadvertently derailed any chance of her becoming the first ever female PWG World Champion. IIRC she got a ton of Japan bookings after ELEVEN that went well into 2015-16, which kinda why she disappeared from PWG after 2014.

Ah, you know, I never even considered that. Even watching PWG at the time, I was still pretty ignorant to other going-ons in the wrestling world, so that'd make sense. I also always wondered if there was some behind the scenes falling out with Joey/Candice and Dragon/Excalibur, especially after Joey opened Bar Wrestling, because I thought it was super weird she never got a send-off match in PWG before heading to WWE.

Good stuff all around, man. Really enjoyed the Wrestling Observer update and TEN was a great show. I was this close to picking Paul London, too!

Appreciate it! London was definitely a sneaky pick.

  20. Appreciate the crazy turnout again! Means a lot, gang. And again, hopefully I'm keeping track of the predictions. Gonna keep track of the overall and do the BOLA 2014 participant for the winner, so try and keep me honest if I mess up. Math isn't my strong suit, no matter how simple!

Young Bucks © vs. DojoBros vs. Unbreakable F'N Machines

I feel like ladder match spells title change

    B-Boy/LeRae/Mack vs. Busick/Avalon/Taylor

I will always pick LaRae :p

Another tempting title change was in my mind for this, but felt it was just a bit too early for the Bucks to drop the titles. Gonna try and milk these two before New Japan comes for them. Or even WWE.

Also a Candice mark. Especially after her match at ELEVEN. Always thought she was going to win BOLA one year or even the belt.

    Kyle O'Reilly vs. Paul London

Kudos for being the one to pick Paul London!

I love that update. Please do more every now and then!

Glad you liked it! I think I do as well. Maybe just work around with the formatting, but should provide some fun and some misdirection in it the universe. Definitely some interesting things that have already played out that you guys will get to see in the upcoming months.

Next up is the Battle of Los Angeles and I'll have a little write-up for the participants in the next day or so along with the card for the first night.

    <span class="showinfo">TEN \\ Reseda, CA \\ 2013.08.03</span>

    <div class="resultbackground"><span class="show">

    1. A fun opener saw the PWG debut of the Boston native
    Biff Busick
and the crowd instantly fell in love with the intensity Busick brought to this one, showing no fear going up against the larger
    Willie Mack
    .
    Candice LeRae
also found herself receiving a strong reaction from the crowd as she hit a suicide dive turn tornado DDT on
    Ryan Taylor
    . We also saw
    Peter Avalon
, Taylor, and Busick all hop onto the back of Mack in an attempt to bring the big man down, but he countered it into a massive Samoan drop.
    B-Boy
cleared the ring for Mack as he and LeRae made sure it stayed that way for Mack's Chocolate Thunder Bomb on Taylor to get the night started right.

    2. Capitalizing off the crowd energy from Is Your Body Ready?
    Samuray del Sol
showed what he's capable of with a nice win over the debuting
    Anthony Nese
. For his first showing in PWG, Nese was no slouch, but del Sol just had a bit extra going for him and while Nese's combination of speed and strength was impressive, it just wasn't enough to overcome del Sol; a luchador eager to make his presence felt in Reseda.

    3. The debuts kept rolling in for the East Coast with The Beaver Boys,
    Alex Reynolds
    and
    John Silver
, putting up a great effort against The Inner City Machine Guns. And in a match featuring
    Ricochet
    and
    Rich Swann
, Silver was by far the smallest man, but that didn't stop him from being the MVP of this contest. While Swann and Ricochet have some experience under their belt, the Beaver Boys' strong chemistry nearly saw them pick up the upset win following an insane sequence; a rolling elbow from Reynolds, step-up enziguri from Silver, stunner from Reynolds, and a German suplex from Silver onto Swann, but Ricochet was quick to break it up just in time. Speaking of Ricochet, it'd be his 630 Senton onto Reynolds that secured the win.

    4. It was
    ACH
who broke the string of losing debuts tonight with a win over
    AR Fox
in a match that left the Reseda crowd speechless. The textbook definition of blink and you might miss as gravity itself couldn't keep these two men grounded. No surprise to see this one spill outside as ACH and Fox took turns trying to one-up another with jaw dropping dives. In the closing seconds of this match, Fox looked to set up his Lo Mein Pain, but ACH would fight it off and knock down Fox long enough for The Best 450 Ever from the second rope after a grueling near 20 minutes of nonstop action.

    5. In the final match before heading into intermission,
    Chuck Taylor
    and
    Johnny Gargano
bounced back after their loss last month as Forever Hooligans dropped another since their debut as a team in PWG. Despite that, these two didn't go down without a fight as
    Rocky Romero
nearly took Gargano's head off with a gnarly leaping knee and
    Alex Koslov
would follow his lead with an enzi-knee right to the side of Taylor's head at one point. A main event anywhere in the world and the last few minutes of this match showed why as we got some finisher spam to end this. A Tiger Suplex from Romero on Gargano, an Awful Waffle onto Romero, and then Koslov's crossface on Taylor, but the Russian wasn't aware that Gargano was the legal man and once referee Justin Borden informed him, he released the hold only for a recovered Gargano to catch with a Hurts Donut for the win.

    6. Back from intermission and back for his first match since March,
    Paul London
continued his winning ways in PWG against
    Kyle O'Reilly
in a match some may call an upset despite London's veteran status over O'Reilly, who has been eager to carve out a name for himself like Adam Cole has. A London Calling crashing down onto O'Reilly's back would seal the deal for London. An interesting blend of styles here as it might've been a bit surprising to see London hold his own against O'Reilly's technical ability, but it was London's agility and O'Reilly's striking ability that truly set these two apart. A surprise for sure as we head into back-to-back championship matches.

    7. And the first championship match of the night didn't disappoint as
    Adam Cole
was able to retain yet again thanks to a surprise crucifix rollup onto
    Drake Younger
    while
    Kevin Steen
was recovering on the outside. The fans were rooting hard for the deathmatch hero as he lived up to expectations, pulling out trash cans, tables, chairs, and even a traffic cone into the match. And in case you thought the weapons weren't enough, the three men used the American Legion Post to their advantage too with Younger spiking Cole with a piledriver onto the carpeted area. Steen also added another dent to Younger's head after throwing a steel chair right into his head and immediately following up with a cannonball senton onto Cole, who was trapped inside of a trash can. A ferocious match that somehow saw all three men able to walk away and Younger receiving a standing ovation from the Reseda faithful.

    8. The only thing hotter than the American Legion Post itself was the crowd for the main event as The Young Bucks somehow kept the PWG World Tag Team Championships in their possession after a low blow from
    Matt Jackson
    onto
    Eddie Edwards
    allowed for
    Nick Jackson
to climb up and retrieve the belt. Plenty of superkicks to go around in this one and bodies too as
    Michael Elgin
    and
    Brian Cage
tossed everyone around with such ease. We even saw Cage just about destroy
    Roderick Strong
with a powerbomb through a ladder mere minutes into this one. Despite not possessing the speed of the Bucks or the power of the Unbreakable F'N Machines, the DojoBros more than held their own as they decided to just stiff the absolute hell out of everyone instead.

The Bucks were unfortunate enough to experience that firsthand as Edwards and Strong landed back-to-back combos on the brothers, including a gutbuster from Strong onto Nick that set him up with a lariat from Edwards that turned the Buck inside out. There were also some questions regarding the stability of the ladders and if they'd be able to withstand Elgin and Cage, thankfully they did as we were treated to a superplex off the ladder from Cage and Edwards, shockingly not ending the men right through the center of the ring. Undoubtedly match of the night and as Kevin Steen helped his dastardly friends out of the ring, the 10th anniversary show came to a close with the fans chanting "PWG!"

    May/June/July Recap

    Notable Signings

Originally thought to have just been brought in for the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, we now know that Kenny Omega has signed an exclusive deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling. Omega lost to Prince Devitt in the final of the tournament and early indication seems to suggest NJPW has big plans for Omega in the junior heavyweight division. While he's had a few tag matches with his long time friend Kota Ibushi, it looks like Omega and Ryusuke Taguchi will be the established pairing going forward as NJPW tries to figure out if they want Ibushi with the heavyweights or junior heavyweights.

NJPW didn't stop there as they continued to bolster their junior heavyweight division with the surprising signing of Akira Tozawa. In a bit of a bizarre situation, New Japan allowed Tozawa to honor the rest of his Dragon Gate dates, which saw him win the Open the Twin Gate tag championship and at the same time, he would win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag championships with Tiger Mask IV. It is believed that Tozawa will wrap up the rest of his Dragon Gate dates by the end of August.

Former Michinoku Pro Wrestling wrestler Daisuke Nakae, better known as Kenoh, signed with NJPW as well. There was early speculation that Kenoh was going to make the jump to Pro Wrestling NOAH, but New Japan showed some interest and managed to sign him to a deal. It also looks like Kenoh will be a stable of the junior heavyweight division going forward, but despite his height, there is some talk about having him mingle with the heavyweights, similar to Kota Ibushi. This potential move relies heavily on how they handle Ibushi going forward and how the crowd reacts to Kenoh as well.

Basically confirmed by the reports from PWG's recent show, Sami Callihan is bound for WWE and headed to NXT, their developmental program. An interesting signing given Callihan's deathmatch background, but it appears that the success of fellow CZW alumni Dean Ambrose (fka Jon Moxley) has inspired this signing. It's unknown if Callihan will be able to match Ambrose's main roster success, but time will tell. Looks like he may report there under the name Solomon Crowe and the two gimmick ideas we've heard pitched so far is some kind of hacker role and an early 90s inspired caveman gimmick. Odd choices to say the least.

Steve Corino looks to have signed an exclusive deal with TNA. As of writing, we know his role appears to be mainly backstage and doing commentary on TNA Xplosion. While occasionally wrestling in ROH and indies throughout, it's unknown if TNA has any interest in putting Corino in the ring. Right now it seems like they're content having him on commentary, producing the wrestlers, and acting as a liaison between management and talent. And after ending their partnership with OVW, Corino may not be the only coach TNA looks to bring in.

Speaking of coaches, it appears that Ted DiBiase Sr. will be back in the WWE as one of the coaches down at NXT and their state of the art WWE Performance Center. Right now there's said to be no interest in bringing DiBiase back onto TV outside of an occasional guest spot, but never say never, especially with Ted DiBiase Jr. being lost in the shuffle on the main roster.

While not as exciting, WWE has also locked down some talent to long term deals including The Miz, Roman Reigns, and Big E Langston to name a few.

    Notable Departures

Jushin Thunder Liger has apparently left NJPW for the moment, but it doesn't appear to be a permanent thing. The 49-year old has indicated that he wants to wrestle a couple of shows for other Japanese promotions as well as make a couple of appearances in the growing UK scene and to the US as well. Though there have been some buzz around the idea of Liger making the jump to WWE for a coaching position or perhaps a run even.

The middle of July would see Jeff Jarrett's time in TNA come to a close. It has been reported for some time that Jarrett's role within the company was already diminishing and with no interest in using him on-screen or in the ring, this doesn't come as too big a surprise. What is interesting are the reports that Jarrett and Toby Keith made a last ditch effort to buy TNA. Obviously that didn't happen, but there is speculation that Jarrett and Keith may try to run their own company.

    Notable Deaths

In May, Abdullah The Butcher passed away at the age of 72. A controversial figure for many reasons, but a star all throughout nonetheless. Abdullah wrestled his final match in 2010 and for the most part had been out of the business. A ceremony was held for him in WWC down in Puerto Rico and it seems that All Japan Pro Wrestling will be holding their own ceremony as well sometime this year or the next.

    Misc. News/Rumor Roundup

Two major names have made their leap from NXT to the main roster. The first one up was Sami Zayn (fka El Generic) in June and in July, former NXT Champion Kassius Ohno (fka Chris Hero) made their debuts on SmackDown. Somewhat surprising call-ups as both men were just beginning to find their footing in NXT. And since their debuts, they've been a bit aimless on SmackDown. A worrisome sign for two higher profile independent signings meant to be the future of WWE already being lost in the shuffle so early, but there's still time to figure it out for the two of them. Also worth noting that Big E Langston, who has already made some appearances on SmackDown, will be a member of the brand full time by the end of August after his program with Xavier Woods comes to an end.

Rumors suggest that it won't be long before Zayn and Ohno are joined by others from NXT. Nothing is guaranteed as plans always change, but the names thrown around include current NXT Champion Corey Graves, Adrian Neville, Xavier Woods, and The Wyatt Family. Safe to assume someone from that batch will be on the main roster before the end of the year.

With the birth of the WWE Performance Center and the rising popularity of NXT, WWE has shown interest in trying to bring in as much talent as possible. They tout that with the Performance Center, they're able to bring in people who lack a wrestling background (something that hasn't stopped them in the past) and turn them into stars as well as bringing in established and lesser known independent names. While there are no solid names at the moment, there's rumor that WWE is sending William Regal to scout out talent at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's annual tournament, the Battle of Los Angeles.

While no official list of participants has been assembled for the tournament, it may be the one wrestler possibly not competing in the tournament that gets the attention of Mr. Regal. And that's current PWG World Champion Adam Cole, who is defending said title against Drake Younger and Kevin Steen at PWG's tenth anniversary show. Provided Cole retains the title, he won't be in the tournament itself, but there's no doubt he fits what Regal and Triple H are looking for. If Cole was a couple inches taller, we'd be talking about his potential as a superstar for the brand. Though the success of CM Punk has shown Vince is willing to overlook size and with the fans rallying behind Daniel Bryan now more than ever, Cole may just have a chance in the WWE.

In other WWE news, the road to SummerSlam has started. The main event will likely be John Cena defending his world title against The Big Show while Dolph Ziggler will defend his against Chris Jericho. The World Heavyweight Championship contract winner CM Punk will be teaming up with Daniel Bryan against some combination of The Shield. The winner of the WWE Championship contract Randy Orton will be facing off against The Miz and we'll also see Triple H taking on Cody Rhodes.

We've already seen the signings of Omega, Tozawa, and Kenoh, but it's being speculated that NJPW isn't done quite yet. A scary prospect for some of these promotions and their fans. If New Japan is looking to open their checkbooks, the loyalty of some Japanese talent is going to be put to the test. Though NJPW might be content for now with their next batch of students from the dojo set to make their debuts before the end of the year.

In July, we saw the debut of Keiji Mutoh's newest company called "Wrestle-1" after resigning from AJPW in June following the firing of ex-AJPW president Masayuki Uchida. Not much else is known about the company at the moment other than they're building their roster and looking to start touring in August. Behind the scenes, we've heard Mutoh is booking with a committee with some interesting names including his own, Akira Hokuto, and The Great Sasuke. Mutoh has also indicated that he intends on wrestling for the company as well and it's safe to assume Sasuke will as well alongside his M-Pro commitments.</div>

Show will be up sometime later today, but wanted to try out something here real quick. Not quite sold on the format of this so far, but figured it'd be fun to keep you updated on the world in between shows and months off and throw in some fun fluff here and there. Rumor section may have some truths in future updates, but who knows, it's a mystery~

  24. I think I got all of these right, first time doing a dynasty/predictions in a while, so feel free to yell at me if I messed something up! Blown away by the number of predictions. I might do a potential BOLA entrant for next year's tournament for a prediction contest?

If you're familiar with this show, you know that I pretty much kept it identical to its real life counterpart solely because I believe it's honestly a perfect show from PWG. I contemplated skipping it and recapping it for that reason, but wanted to figure out how I'd write my results with a relatively easy show and kinda paint an image for the main players heading into 2013 and the upcoming year.

Adam Cole © vs. Sami Callihan - Cole is definitely winning this but Callihan was red hot at the time and this match was hyped af. Going with Sami as my official pick in case you want to do something

Drake Younger vs. Kevin Steen - Steen is the bigger star but Younger was at his peak at this time. Please keep him away from the crazies.

Not going to lie, I did contemplate a title switch before I started this game. Always fun starting off a game with an identical card, but flipping the results. However, Sami's off to WWE for what will surely be a great run I'm certain. I've always been super fond of Sami because of this match and his ones vs. Younger and I feel like he gets a bit of a bad rap nowadays in IMPACT. Maybe I just don't watch IMPACT enough to say, but I've always loved Sami's PWG appearances.

I do wonder what would've happened to Younger had he not left for WWE after DDT4 when he won that #1 contender's match. I always assumed Candice replaced him for Mystery Vortex II, but Younger was still on the indies until the month after. Don't know if we'll be able to prevent Younger and the Florida crazies though.

Literally the first PWG show I watched, great starting point!

My memory is a bit fussy as to when I started watching PWG, but I think it was this show too or the All Star Weekend 9 shows before it. Definitely some fond memories.

    Drake Younger vs. Kevin Steen

In 2013 this could go either way, in 2021 I can't get behind Younger winning anything :D

    Davey Richards vs. Kyle O'Reilly

This is tough. A more committed Davey Richards could be the star of any company, but considering the outcome IRL and O'Reilly going on to win the belt I'll go with him winning.

Forever Hooligans vs. Unbreakable F'N Machines

Similar to what I said re: Younger.

Yeah, Younger and Elgin were the two I had in mind for slowly phasing out of the shows by the end of the year and early 2014. Though Elgin's arrest yesterday certainly made things interesting. Unfortunately, I've booked and ran the rest of 2013, but safe to say Elgin was never in the plans to be a major player anyways.

Davey is a mixed bag. One of my first favorite indie wrestlers and really just an awesome talent, especially given his storied PWG history. Though there's also no denying his commitment issues. Hard to predict when he'll want to become an EMT again or his ego preventing him from taking a loss.

I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing diaries based on the mod I made (with plenty of help, of course). It feels surreal. PWG during this period have a strong roster and so much potential, so very much looking forward to seeing how it all unfolds for you. And apologies for not being able to do the PWG schedule realistically lol

It's an excellent mod that I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of mainly from just watcher games and seeing how differently the universe unfolds every time. It helped me finally get into this game, so major kudos to you. I had originally tried doing a WWE & NXT game and that was fun, but god, salute to the writers/players who can handle all that programming. And lol, I don't think any rendition of TEW will be able to run PWG's schedule. I can't even imagine the programming nightmare between sometimes doing 3 shows a month and then taking 2 months off and then one year nearly running a show every month.
