2. Back when I played a lot of the C-Verse, MAW was always my promotion, but I fell off that train pretty hard in 2016. Figured while I wait for a mod to roll out, I'll give them one more run, and I'm loving it so far. Took a few shows to get the flow of the new booking screen. Just need to figure out perception a bit more.

Signed a few guys to help balance the face/heel divide, but realized just how little time I'll have for some of them. A second monthly show doesn't seem so bad all of a sudden. Really dig the developmental feature. Just got my first batch of graduates from TCW with a potential stud in the class who is an amazing heel at 5'6", so that'll be a hoot to book. He's got decent mic skills, but I might pair him with a manager anyways. Already excited for the next class of graduates.

Planning on making The Architect my top heel. Gonna see if I can hold off until the finale to take the belt off Blaze. Really like the idea of putting the COTT and MAW belt on the line. Brought Ernest Youngman in to act as a muscle for Josh Jacobs in his feud with Miller, like charisma-less Dolph Ziggler and Big E. Cept Ernest will eventually overshadow Jacobs (until he gets poached I suppose). That feuds probably ends with Miller getting the upper hand and then Ernest killing Jacobs.

My real goal is to turn the tag division into something a bit more steady. Really like The Past Masters as the face of the division and then split'em up somewhere down the line. Also had Sam Keith take Sandman under his wing, so that's incredible. Definitely need a few more face teams though. Got Drop Kix partnering up with a brawler from the graduate class, nice little flash and pow duo. Probably gonna hold off on adding another face team until I get a second monthly show up and running.

Debating on who takes the American belt off Jaylon Martins. Really want to do that before October. Honestly might have it be that 5'6" prospect, AP Smash. I've kicked around the idea of a women's division in MAW, but I'm not sold on it yet. That might be a 2021 project, especially if I could open up MAW's own training facility.

  3. Echoing the sentiments shared throughout the thread. Really want to shout you out for the 87 mod. That era was such a blindspot for me as a fan, but I decided to dive into the mod one day and now I adore so many workers from that era (and a bit beyond for some of the folks who'd evolve). Always been familiar with guys like Arn, Bret, Owen, and so on, but only as legends. Going back and watching them work as a result of the mod was such a blast.

Very stoked for TGA when the time's right, but mannn...Summer of Punk is going to be insane. The scope of 2011 looks huge and I cannot wait to eventually dive into it.

  4. not to derail a perfectly good series of posts on the topic of art, but...

I really wanted to hit something that feels in line with WOW (Women of Wrestling) but with some He-man / She-Ra / Transformers: The Movie in the mix..

I'm a broken record, but your fonts good god they are so good.

  5. I'm bias because I'll always mark out for Kam's work, but 15 bucks (or quid, sorry i don't know how money works) isn't really all that out there for a good logo, regardless of its purpose. Go on Fiverr and that's pretty much the starting rate. Given Kam's caliber, this is a good way for them to take in requests without getting swamped as I recall them getting busy back when it was a free-for-all for requests. And lord knows how pushy some people can get if you take a couple days on a free request. Just look at any of Genadi's mod threads and how often people ask for Summer of Punk :p It's a good way to make sure User_A doesn't come in here every other day asking for a new company logo.

Like praguepride said, if you don't like it, there are other very talented artists here, but honestly, I wouldn't be against some of them putting a price on their work either. In my experience, if you let people know that you are even remotely competent in graphic design, they'll gladly advantage of that. And as The_Celt touched on, if you've ever done graphical work for a niche community for free, you'd realize how true that is. Mods pop up here and there, but some of these graphic threads are/have been active daily with multiple requests knocked out. I'm not well versed in the rerender community, but my basic understanding is that you have to buy some of the models and props? Which means, in theory, they're losing money to work for free? They've literally been doing this for years for free at a financial loss because of their passion for and if anyone was going to ask for commission money, I wouldn't blame them, yet, they haven't and they've had a lot more opportunities than Kam to get on that.

And personally, as for mods, I wouldn't mind donating a few bucks to some of the mods I've really gotten a lot of enjoyment from either. Any worries of a "precedent" being set is far-fetched in my opinion. There are plenty of modding communities where commissioned work and non-commissioned work exists, ESPECIALLY in graphical departments. Hell, I get paid for graphical work now, but I still do some stuff for free out of passion.

Then again, a union doesn't sound so bad all of a sudden :p

If this offsets 3/4X money or in the case of PGHW, nearly 10X the money, then I think our priorities are a bit skewed. But honestly, if you want Funakoshi to miss three or four events in a row then there's a "Send Away" mechanic I'm pretty sure, so just give him a vacation.

Adding onto this, given how much extra money you'll be making on a Constant schedule, you can just pay a worker like Funakoshi some Bonus money and that'll bring his morale back up. Sure, you'll still get dinged with the left off show complaints, but when you're BHOTWG and making 10mil a month, dropping a couple of thousands to increase a wrestler's morale is nothing. Won't be the case with the smaller companies like SAISHO, but some of the handshake contracts are so dirt cheap, you won't be gutted when you send a guy away on paid leave for a week if I'm correct in my thinking.

  8. 2. thoughts on how to do schedules for certain smaller companies in Japan that don't run easily-recreatable schedules? If anyone has a deeper knowledge of the Japanese indy scene and wants to throw ideas at me, I'm very open.

I wouldn't stress too much over the Osaka Pro schedule. They went from doing 300 shows in 2013 to 89 in 2014. Maybe do Osaka Pro Happy Weekday (June) #1? Do 2-3 shows a week and have the Osaka Tornado Vol. shows happen monthly, earlier than irl. At least I think that's possible in 2020? Admittedly I haven't screwed around with the schedule editor too much, so ignore me if I'm horribly wrong.

I wonder with Ice Ribbon if you could do like New Ice Ribbon (#4xx) #1? Not the most aesthetically pleasing and would require the user to edit the numbers after 2013 though.

BJW and FREEDOMS are tricky. Might just have to call them BJW June Tour #1 or something like that until there's a proper show name.

  9.

I didn't find an option to turn off the loop...do you mean to remove every region from the current house show loop by that?

That might work, I'm not certain, but I meant deactivating the active house show schedule next to the region. Which, also to be fair, I'm not really sure if that works either? I just assume one of those surely will work since there is no On/Off feature.

  10. Ok, I'm playing as RAW, why do I keep getting emails saying my house shows have been cancelled?

Had this happen to me too. RAW has a house show loop active, but no wrestlers actually selected to be on-duty for the house shows due to contracts. Every company seems to have the same house show loop schedule by default activated and only Medium sized companies can run them, so you have to go into the House Show menu and turn off the loop I believe.

Also strangely, if you click your user character active for house shows, the wording changes from "A company must have reached Medium size to use house shows" to "A company must have reached Cult size to use house shows". If I'm correct in my thinking, Cult is no longer a size used in TEW?

Edit - Also what Historian said. Only exclusive written deals will work

  11. I think Nigel Svennson is fairly well liked and doesn't really have a cringe factor to him, but man, I love that guy. Always have. Like a semi-boy I think?

I loved fat Ford Gumble. Always thought he'd be like the perfect guy to be the face of a local Southern indie where he is by far the biggest star and also the only guy who can wrestle until they bring in some hot shot indie star or other vet for a one off. I'm now almost talking myself into having him unretire and have one last run. Maybe get Harry involved too. Really kinda wild neither of those guys got anything going for them once they left TCW.

  12. I'm assuming there's some sort of failsafe to keep players from doing whatever they want and losing millions each month. If you lose x amount or lose money for y amount of months, you'll probably have ties cut/be closed down.

Tbh, I've got no basis for this (haven't played as a developmental yet) but it sounds right to me.

This sounds about right. If the parent company is sending you money to make sure you balance out at the end of the month, you could sink them. Though in the past I never remember a big company with a dev fed closing down in any of my runs to know if they'll shut down a child company or not.

  13.

Considering TEW2016 had Achievements for A* matches and shows, this is either a massive oversight or a huge FU.

Ah, good point. No letter (or number) grade based achievements in 2020, so I do believe it is safe to say the letters are gone. Especially since it seems like the number grades are part of the game and no longer have their own dedicated graphics anymore.

  14.
In 2016, I always used a Google Doc to map out PPV bookings (or tour shows for puro companies) and keep track of the show grades then used Google Sheets to keep track of who was feuding with who and on what brand as well as championship stats. Everything else I'd just keep in my head, which is great in theory until I step away from a save for too long and forget what some of my goals are.

I had a brief WWE save where I tried to keep track of the weekly shows, but oh boy was that a hell of a task to keep up with.

I've seen some pretty in-depth spreadsheets here over the course of TEW 2016 and might try to do something a bit more advanced depending on who I'll run with this go around.

  15. Sorry if it's been mentioned elsewhere but there's a lot of posts to read through. Can anyone tell me if there's still a way to change the match ratings to grades instead of numbers? I'm fine with everything else, I just like seeing grades for match ratings. I've had a quick look without any luck.

Grades do appear to be gone unless I'm overlooking something. I've always preferred the numbers, but it is strange to see the letters gone because I seem to recall they were the default in 2016?

  16.

The only thing I don't like is that before, when looking at my roster for example, I would select one worker and use the Up/Down arrow keys to scroll through them but that appears to not work now. Considering I used to read ALL the profiles before playing the game, it is giving me a hard time with all the clicking.

And yes, the font is too small, but I can deal with it.

It works, but you have to go into Preferences and uncheck "Enable New-Style Coloured Lists". So you'll lose the colored names (gold for champions, red for injured (i believe)), but gain the ability to use the arrow keys again.

  17.
One thing that is kinda wild about the UI to me is how the title screen, Companies search screen, and the website banner/sidebar look so damn good then everywhere else is like a completely different game. But I've griped enough about the UI.

Putting on a new skin improves it massively and now that I've been able to dive a bit more into the game, I'm really digging a lot of the improvements. Sticky search is a blessing. Some of the preference options are great too, like being able to turn off disposition changing times, especially when calling someone up who may have turned face/heel without you knowing. The new handbook is also great.

  18. Beautiful. I love it.

I don't know if it's just because the colour scheme is more familiar, that it makes the new game feel less strange and alien... but regardless, it's really cool.

Also the buttons look like buttons. Nice.

Completely 100% agree with this sentiment. Not only does it feel familiar, it makes the familiar feel updated and modern too. Just clean and crisp.

    Excellent work thus far, Arber!
