  1. The famous "Golden Week" is upon us and White Canvas Grappling is on the traditional "S-1 Revenge season". When Japan hits the 5th day of May the whole country is on holiday because of the "Children's Day" (Kodomo no hi) and that's when WCG has always their show Pro Wrestling Love right next to the Imperial Palace of Japan's Emperor. After a winning the S-1 Festival, Fujio Narahashi has earned the chance to challenge WCG World Heavyweight Champion Bunrakuken Torii in the shadow of the emperor. Despite being eligible to challenge the champ made an enquiry to challenge for Narahashi's tag titles before the big clash on May 5th. The latter accepted and replied that Torii can choose a partner of his choice. The match was set for a televisided "Road To" show in Kobe. SUKI grabbed the opportunity after beating RISE Openweight champ Koshiro Ino and challenged him to a match at Chiyoda Kokugikan. The member of REAL BLOOD stated that after beating "The Kobra" once made him aware how susceptible Ino actually is. Also the GCG World Heavyweight title will be on the line when Tadakuni Toshusai defends the championship against Burning Hazard's Zeshin Makioka while Yasunobu Masuno will protect the WCG US Heavyweight title against Rogue Squad's Ernest Youngman. Prior to the show at the Sumo Hall there will be three televisided "Road To" shows where the Junior Heavyweight Tag, the RISE Openweight Six Man Tag & the WCG World Tag Team titles will be on the line, too. 『WCG Pro Wrestling Love In Chiyoda 2021』 – May 5th, 2021 Chiyoda Kokugikan (Tokyo, Kanto) [Emperor Choice, WCG Global & Aichi] 0. 2. 『RISE.30』– April 7th, 2021Shinjuku REX (Tokyo, Kanto) [WCG Global] Just three days after crowning a new S-1 Festival champion it was time for RISE again. The 30th episode of the subsidiary was headlined by the two new acquisitions Tatsuya Toshitara and Munemitsu Senmatsu who took on the young boy team of Haru Shionoya and Ryobe Saji. The latter fought pretty well but had no chance against the veteran team. After having just a few matches this year, Captain White Canvas made his very last appereance on this show for White Canvas Grappling in a losing effort to REAL BLOOD's Takenori Doi. The masked man made his debut a few years ago as a comedy character and did nothing more than being in such matches. "Who's the captain? We'll never know.", said WCG Colour Commentator Ryuzaburo Sugiyama. Results~!1. Akira Arato def. Akihiro Hisato (8:47) 2. Too Young 2 Die (Nobuhiko Serizawa & Shuzo Utagawa) def. The "PRIDE Of.." series was quite a success since it's launch three years ago. Today the show was held on the biggest Vegetable & Fish Market on the island with many people just stopped by from their grocery shopping trip. Shows like that are always fun and a welcome change to the traditional schedule. Despite now being a heel on the mainland of Japan Hitomaro Suzuki was also being cheered here and thanked the fans for coming after the main event. The next "PRIDE Of.." show will be held in June when WCG will come to Kagoshima. Results~!1. Chomei Fuwa, Daisetsu Yanagi & Haru Shionoya def. Hiroshi Mishima, Kentaro Kawai & Ryobe Saji (7:34) 2. 3. Losing Maeda as the front figure is unlucky. I mean he got his vision of Canvas Grappling on the biggest stage yet back again like back in the day with GCG. I'm really curious to see who his successor will be though. I don't know exactly how your in-game world has evolved but there are some candidates who have a history with Maeda and/or Canvas Grappling as a whole. Anniversary seemed like a very good show overall. From the story of Funakoshi and Okamoto being the most dominant team to the title change in the main event, which came a bit surprising for me in first place. I liked the new Furusawa and now he's got Matsushita, which good momentum, to face for the GCG title next. Ouch! Torii versus a bigger KC Glenn sounds like a very good match on paper.

  5. 『S-1 Festival Night 19』– April 4th, 2021Tokyo Egg Dome (Tokyo, Kanto) [Emperor Choice, WCG Global & Aichi] A packed crowd of 43,250 people in the legendary Tokyo Egg Dome witnessed a final match between two wrestler who had never reached a S-1 Festival final before in their career. The WCG faithful eagerly awaited the entrances of the combattants, a roar went through the Egg Dome during the announcement by ring announcer Hirokichi Hatakeda in the middle of the squared circle. The war between these two gentleman went over thirty-two minutes, a record breaking match length for a S-1 final, with an incredible exciting finishing sequence with several counter and nearfalls. When the second lariat hit the chest of Burning Hazard leader Heihachiro Sakai, the crowd inside the Dome knew it's over and were satisfied with the result. "Strong Pitbull" Fujio Narahashi won the S-1, the biggest accomplishment of his thirteen year long career. Narahashi, still one half of the current WCG World Tag Team Champions, got fairly emotional during the ceremony after the main event when he received the Katana sword by WCG president Junnosuke Fukazawa alongside his tag team partner Gonkuro Kamioka. The "Strong Pitbull" isn't a man of words but he told the crowd how proud he is of his performances and the performance of all his opponents during the grueling tournament. Of course the center of attention was the final between Sakai and Narahashi but it became a tradition that the Junior Heavyweight Champion needs to put his title on the line just a match prior. El Mítico Jr. met PGHW's Magnum Kobe, a multiple time WLW Universal Champion, who recently signed a contract with White Canvas Grappling. The two had a fierced striking battle, it could have been a proper MMA fight in ALPHA-1 though, where the mexican put Kobe to sleep to get his second title defense. Results~!1. 6. 『B~BLOCK RECAP』 With the assumption that A-Block is the better block overall many people overlooked the B-Block although there were some banger matches and exciting paths to follow. Razan Okamoto missed the tournament due to an injury, Gonkuro Kamioka replaced him. Sometimes a wrestler starts with a hot streak in a round-robin tournament but not in this group of ten warriors. After three nights of block action every player had at least one win on their scoreboard and no one was able to win all three matches so far. It seemed like that B-Block is pretty balanced and the fans couldn't guess who's going to win the next match on the show. On the bottom of the table we could see WCG United States Heavyweight Champion Yasunobu Masuno with only six points on his side. Masuno can't be happy with his performance only winning matches against Motoyuki Miyake, Ieyoshi Shimakage and newly acquired Tatsuya Toshitara. Even last place finished Gonkuro Kamioka scored a win over Masuno, havin this big amount of losses can mean that Masuno will be challenged quite a few times down the line though. From the botton to the top of the group three wrestlers head into the last two nights of block action with the chance to meet Heihahiro Sakai in the finals of the Saikyou no Matsuri. The leader of the block so far Tatsuya Toshitara, runner-up Koshiro Ino and dark horse Fujio Narahashi. In Shikoku the most dramatic scenes happened when Narahashi won his match in the opener against Masuno while Toshitara (loss to SUKI) and Ino (Shimakage) both weren't able to win their respectively matches. At Toyota Stadium Narahashi made his homework by beating Ernest Youngman while he was in need of a draw between Toshitara and Ino. When we reached the thirty minute mark and the bell rang the WCG faithful were in a roar that their boy "Strong Pitbull" Fujio Narahashi topped the group and will meet Sakai in the legendary Tokyo Egg Dome for the trophy!
  7. 『A~BLOCK RECAP』 Wrestling journalists and fans labelled the A-Block as the "killer block" of this year's S-1 Festival and it could be very true indeed. Eight men had the chance to climb to the top of the mountain on the last block day, except Logan Diaz and Tadakuni Toshusai, so it was quite exciting to follow the matches. When we go back to the start of the tournament we saw that debutant Logan Diaz scored two wins a row to lead the A-Block at the beginning, the first big surprise in the tournamento. The member of the Rogue Squad started with a win against former Squad bully Brandon Smith and former S-1 Festival finalist Munemitsu Senmatsu. Those two wins ultimately lead to a seven match losing streak with Diaz ending the tournament with just four points. From the bottom to the top, like we said in the opening there were more than two eligible candidates for topping the group. When White Canvas Grappling marched into Matsuyama on the island of Shikoku, Munemitsu Senmatsu was the first one who eliminated one of the eligible candidates by defeating Brandon Smith. With Hitomaro Suzuki beating Azumamaro Kita and Heihachiro Sakai having a hard time against WCG Intercontinental titleholder Greg Gauge but still beating him both of the named and WCG World Champion Bunrakuken Torii were still alive on the last block night. Three men went into the race for being the number one at Toyota Stadium: Bunrakuken Torii (12), Hitomaru Suzuki (10) and Heihachiro Sakai (10). While Suzuki has beaten Sakai and Torii he's got an advantage over both of them, while Torii and Sakai would meet at Toyota Stadium. In the semi-main event Suzuki met his longtime nemesis Brandon Smith and they went to a freaking war, the american was motivated to eliminate his opponent and so he did. After twentyfour minutes Smith pinned Suzuki and therefore the former champ wasn't able to top the group. All eyes were on the main event were Torii and Sakai had a bummer of a match because of a small injury Torii took during the match. Nevertheless the leader of Burning Hazard beat the world champ to climb on top of the group to reach his first ever S-1 Festival final!
  8. Like back months ago I still dig your writing and formatting arlovski. Keep it up!
  9. Thanks man! Not sure how I'll present the tournament to you guys due to my schedule in the next weeks.
  10. 『Participants Round-Up B~BLOCK』 The sixth edition of the S-1 Festival is upon us and we take a look at the participants of the B~BLOCK! Other than in A-BLOCK there is no former winner or finalist in this block, although the record breaking WCG World Champion Razan Okamoto is in this block. He may be the biggest favourite to break through the group at top but he's not having that much luck in recent S-1 tournaments though. Also there is one more debutant than in A-BLOCK with newly acquired Tatsuya Toshitara and Ieyoshi Shimakage. At the very first sight you can see that two former S-1 winners as well as three finalits are in the same block together. With Bunrakuken Torii, the current World Champ, a two time winner will be in the block alongside a two time finalist in Greg Gauge. 13. 『WCG Of America - An Introduction』 With the expansion into US territory White Canvas Grappling created an american subsidiary in the last year to bring Canvas Grappling to America on a weekly basis. After having a couple of standalone shows on american soil, WCG president Fukazawa wanted to have an american brand as soon as possible. He approached Fumihiro Ota, a japanese wrestler who grew up in the United States and wrestled there his whole life. On February 2nd the very first show of the american subsidiary was held in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in front of just 550 people. In the meantime the shows are held in front of over 5,000 people, without any big japanese talent involved. WCG Of America does 36 Shows a year, most of them on the eastcoast. The subsidiary has three championships which are the following: WCG American Openweight - Nelson Callum (former holder: Doug Peak, Chris Caulfield) WCG American Showcase - Stuntman (fh: Acid II) WCG American Tag Team - Doug Peak & BB Colossus (fh: Aldous Blackfriar & Billy Russell, Rhino Umaga & Samoan Machine, Doug Peak & Chris Caulfield) The biggest stars of the company are Doug Peak, Acid II, Billy Russell, Nelson Callum and Stuntman. And they're even japanese wrestler on the roster who wanted to built up the name of WCG in american like veteran Gonnohyoe Kada, former two time WCG World Tag Team Champ Kimitada Yanagita, Kuemon Hotta or former Jr. Tag Champ Jotaro Tanaka. With Nigel Svensson and Ray Snow, the Gaijin Wrecking Crew, the subsidiary will get two more stars for a period of several months.

  16. 『WCG Canvas Grappling In NYC 2021 Night 2』 – February 14th, 2021Rockefeller Square Garden (New York City, NY, USA) [Emperor Choice, WCG Global & Aichi] The second night of the american return saw a double header of special single matches on top of the card with some spicing called RISE Openweight titlematch. The first special single match included the current WCG World Heavyweight Champion Bunrakuken Torii, who didn't defend the title in this match, against the INSPIRE legend Billy Russell. Sure thing the puerto rican shifted the fight to the mat to lock in several submission moves but the champion could escape most of the times. But the "Tap Out Artist" can also fight on the feet and he showed it here as well, Torii welcomed Billy's fighting spirit and fought him off. Afterwards the two shook hands and showed respect to each other. Hitomaro Suzuki met Total Championship Wrestling's Aaron Andrews in the main event in the second special singles match of the night. In an epic clash the japanese had the better ending when he could lock in his Suzuki Lock to let Andrews tap to the move. Just before Andrews had several near falls to get Suzuki's shoulder down but the leader of REAL BLOOD always raised his shoulders before the ref slapped the mat for the third time. American Tag Team Champion and Team Warrior leader Doug Peak challenged RISE Openweight Champion Koshiro Ino at the Rockefeller Square Garden and nearly took the title of the "Kobra". Typical Team Warrior Doug Peak bend the rules pretty much to the outermost, he hit Ino in the crown jewels and rolled him up for a razerclose two count. All the shenanigans aside Ino was able to beat the former WEXXV Champion with the Kobra's Bite to defend the title yet again. Two more title matches were on the matchcard when American Openweight Champion, the king of the american subsidiary, Nelson Callum defended the title against the gothic punk Aldous Blackfriar successfully as well as the WCG World Team Champions. Team 220kg overcame the big samoans Rhino Umaga and Samoan Machine. Results~! 1. Morimasa Kato, Tadakuni Toshusai & Yasunobu Masuno def. Frankie Perez, Masked Stranger & Acid II (9:29) 2. 18. 『WCG Canvas Grappling In NYC 2021 Night 1』 – February 13th, 2021Rockefeller Square Garden (New York City, NY, USA) [Emperor Choice, WCG Global & Aichi] WCG made their american comeback tonight witht he first show of the double header event at the legendary Rockefeller Square Garden in Manhattan. In front of a packed sell out crowd the White Canvas crowd saw a special tag match in the main event between the xDREAM duo of Motoyuki Miyake and Razan Okamoto against WCG Intercontinental Champion Greg Gauge and his Rogue Squad partner Animal Harker. After a loud roar by the crowd Okamoto hits a lariat and followed with his Brainbuster Suplex to pin Harker, after the match Okamoto thanked all the fans coming to see WCG. He hyped tomorrow's show with having four singles matches to close the double header. Yasunobu Masuno is still the WCG US Heavyweight Champion after beating the third Rogue Squad member in a row. It was a little bit strange to see that the american crowd cheered for Logan Diaz instead of Masuno but having Diaz in a titlematch on home turf is just something else. Nevertheless Masuno successfully defended the title for the second time and had a stare-down afterwards with former champ Ernest Youngman. The two will meet at the first night of the S-1 Festival. In some sort of a showstealer the Junior Tag Champs Musashi and Japanese Phoenix had to defend their titles against Acid II and Stuntman and this was a real high flying extravaganza. The Phoenix Splash was yet again the gamechanger for the champions when the masked man pinned Stuntman. After receiving a loud round of applause Japanese Phoenix invited both men to come to Japan to fight in front of the japanese crowd, which was "accepted" by bowing down to the champs. What the Rogue Squad is for the domestic fans in Japan that is Team Warrior for the american WCG fans. A group of villains, cheating people which fight like typical western heels. The gigantic BB Colossus and his leader Doug Peak defended their American Tag titles yet again by defeating the American Cobras, Marvel Malloy and Storm Spillane, after a shot with a foreign object behind the back of the referee. 21. Thank god Masuno found some rhythm recently with having a pretty good match with Sanda. I have to say I like Masuno as the big heavyweight guy he is thanks to his transfer to WCG in my save back then. However he isn't that good at the beginning and he needs some improvement. This technical submission stuff is aggravating but also interesting at the same time, I mean think about doing a filler title defense against an even more unproven guy like.. let's say Goro Hatamoto. Jesus christ. It would be cooler if you pick an option that you book a no contest on the fly or just changing the title like it happened to you. I had this situation in WCG as well when Motoyuki Miyake won the IC title and he was just out of his young boy phase.. Nevertheless: Love reading your write-ups!

REAL BLOOD (Yuta Isono, SUKI & Hitomaro Suzuki) (14:53) It will be the second year in a row that former World, Intercontinental and RISE Champion Morimasa Kato won't be a participating in the S-1 Festival. Nevertheless the one third of the current Six Man Tag Team Champions went mad and choked Yuta Isono out which lead to some tensions between him and Suzuki..again! Those two have their problems with each other since the start of the company and won't be friends anytime soon. Reiwa Ishingun (Kado Kamisaka, Omezo Shikitei & Azumamaro Kita) def. xDREAM (Tanyu Toshusai, KATOU & Razan Okamoto) (13:18) With the announcement of the S-1 blocks they were some early issues between Omezo Shikitei and Razan Okamoto. Althought these two were not involved in the finish of the match, the eyes of the crowd were cleary on them. Okamoto and Shikitei shoved each other around and gave each other some slaps to the face to heat things off. The Revengers (Musashi & Japanese Phoenix) def. Jinzaburo Kakinomoto & Tsuneyo Yanagimoto (14:55) The first title challenge of a team of REAL BLOOD went down the hill when The Revengers defended the Junior Tag titles for the very first time. Kakinomoto's inexperience was the key to victory for the well travelled champion team, Musashi kicked Kakinomoto around while Phoenix came from heaven with his Phoenix Splash for the win. El Mítico Jr. def. Billy Robinson (21:23) That's a perfect way to start a title reign! El Mítico Jr. and Billy Robinson had an absolute banger, maybe one of the best junior heavyweight matches in the history of the promotion. The match was pretty even, Robinson tried to put the mexican down with some classic Wigan style stuff but Mítico is on the mat very good thanks to his amateuer wrestling background. After a german suplex Mítico put Robinson down with a Northern Lights Suplex for his V1. Team 220kg (Gonkuro Kamioka & Fujio Narahashi) def. Gaijin Wrecking Crew (Ray Snow & Nigel Svensson) (20:28) The former Champions failed to recapture the tag titles while Team 220kg made their first defense. The Gaijin Wrecking Crew lost the straps in 2019 and had their last title challenge in fall during the very same year, so it was a pretty big deal for them to have the opportunity. Kamioka and Narahashi are one of the best hard hitting duo's of the world and showed it to the Sapporo crowd. With a combination of a Saito Suplex and a big lariat the reigning champions pinned Nigel Svensson. Afterwards Svensson spoke some broken japanese and announced that they'll be in the United States for quite some time and will lace their boots for WCG Of America. Bunrakuken Torii def. Motoyuki Miyake (29:38) After defending the title against xDREAM leader Razan Okamoto on the second night of Anniversary, Bunrakuken Torii did it yet again against a xDREAM member. While Motoyuki Miyake did his best with some fierced strikes and submission moves "Machine Gun" Torii was just one step above him. Miyake tried to apply a rear naked choke on numerous occassions but Torii escaped with great ring awarness. In nearly one motion Torii ducked a penalty kick by Miyake hit a shotgun dropkick, a brutal headbutt and pinned Miyake after the Spinning Forearm Smash. After the match Torii helped Miyake on his feet and wanted to shake his hands, the defeated challenger hesitated a bit but finally shook the hand of the champion to end a two night extravaganza in the snow town of Sapporo!
