  1. It just occured to me, with Mickie James gone, WWE is down to only three girls that have any form of in-ring talent: Beth Phoenix & Nattie Neidhart. I WOULD'VE included Gail Kim, but WWE is like Kryptonite to her it seems. She has moments of showing great skill (See TNA) but in WWE just is generic and kind of worthless.
  2. Where the recentley released might end up (and I hope they end up) in my opinion: Shelton Benjamin - ROH or TNA, maybe a short Japanese stint. Mike Knox - Japan. Follow in A-Train & Tomko's footsteps. Will likely end up a great worker like A-Train, but might find his way back to WWE. AJPW I'd assume, or maybe even Zero1. Mickie James - TNA Katie Lea - Indies. Maybe a sting with TNA if they need a random girl. Kung Fu Naki - Likely back to Japan. K-Dojo. Jimmy Wang Yang - TNA or ROH and likely time in Japan. Slam Master J - Indies.
  3. If this NXT is a sign of anything to come, its really only meant to focus on maybe the top 4-5 guys. Are Darren Young, Skip Sheffield, or Michael Tarver going to amount to anything? No. I mean one HAS to see promise in Wade Barrett. WWE seems fond of David Otunga (I'm not sold) and one has to assume Daniel Bryan is going to have at least a medicore run alongside Justin Gabriel who might flame out if you ask me (his high risk stuff isnt as good as Evan Bourne's, so they dont need another guy like him, unless he proves he can talk). And Heath Slater seems like he'll fail... Unless WWE puts focus back on tag team wrestling where I think Slater could flurish.
  4. Chris Jericho... ECW and WCW... Big Show... WCW.... William Regal.... WCW.... Triple H.... WCW... Finlay... WCW... Goldust... WCW... Jimmy Wang Yang... WCW... Kane... WCW... Rey Mysterio... WCW... ECW.. Theodore Long... WCW... The Undertaker... WCW... ... = periods... haha.
  5. dont follow baseball to closely but I've been TRYING to get into it, mainly because I enjoy the MLB 2010 The Show game for PS3. Only team I know much about is Toronto cause they are close to me. And they will suck this year, but show promise. Lind/Hill/Snider are good pillers for any team. And they finally have some young pitchers with promise in Kyle Drabek, and Ricky Romero (though they seem in no rush to throw Drakbek in the majors). They also have Zach Stewart who should develop into a #4 guy a least. Hopefully by this off season Overbay, Encarnacion, Bautista, & Gonzalez are all gone and some young guys are given a chance or better FA's brought in. Brett Wallace is waiting in the wings to take over 1st Base, but even if he flops Lind could move to the infield to free-up the DH spot assuming Snider cements himself in Left this year. J.P. Arencibia or Travis D'Arnaud should be up next season too, with one of them, likely, taking over at catcher. Anyhow should be an interesting season. I think its kind of good that Toronto is going to be on hard times as it will allow me to watch the team grow into a (hopeful) playoff team down the line.
  6. ordered Mania (usually dont) and its been "so so" so far. No real "HOLY ****!" moments in the MITB, I was suprised Shelton didnt do anything, and I was really expecting a SSP off a ladder to the outside to eliminate half the guys. Tag match was TV-quality. Three way was okay, but really thought Dibiase or Rhodes needed the win more. Now Sheamus vs. Triple H in the battle of boredom thus far. It sucks that Sheamus is basically a less talented version of Triple H, and it doesnt look like HHH is all that enthused to be making Sheamus look good.
  7. Source? Last time I talked to Mark he seemed to love his streak.
  8. FCW updated its webpage. New Funky names for all! http://img2.pict.com/17/1d/94/3136154/0/jacobnovak.jpg Dunno who this is... http://img2.pict.com/44/7e/9f/3136155/0/drakebrewer.jpg aka Joe Doering http://img2.pict.com/51/e9/05/3136156/0/leokruger.jpg aka Ray Leppan http://img2.pict.com/a8/0c/b7/3136157/0/rudyparker.jpg aka Asher Knight http://img2.pict.com/60/98/d6/3136188/0/tamina.jpg aka Sarona Snuka http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/5689/hunico.jpg aka Incognito
  9. I was just thinking now, I dont know why, what will be in NXT Season 2. It seems WWE put a lot of its developmental eggs in one basket putting alot of their bigger prospects on season one (Pretty much everyone but Young seems to have some form of potential at this point) So who might be on season 2? Here's my guesses. Kaval - Possible Pros: Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, or Rey Mysterio. I think the easy favourite to be a member. He and Joe Hennig were at one point going to be in Season 1, but WWE decided to shrink the roster. He'd obviously be the work horse of Season 2, but his kicks woul get him over alone. Any of the guys being his pro would work well I think. Joe Hennig - Possible Pros: Randy Orton, Finlay, or William Regal. I think he actually might be more of a lock then Kaval at this point since he fits the mould better. Harder to pick a pro for. Orton makes sense. Gives the show its Jericho for the season, play of legacy routes. Finlay or Regal just make sense to play the "I knew your father" card and be hard nosed on him. After these two it really opens up I think. Richie Steamboat - Possible Pros: Chris Jericho, Ricky Steamboat, Kofi Kingston. He hasnt been in the system for long, and I doubt WWE wants to rush him through. I'm sure he'll only come up when Ricky thinks he's ready. Pros could be interesting. Bringing Ricky out from behind the curtian is ALWAYS welcome. But having Jericho back doing the "I hate you and your father" routine would be interesting. Brett Dibiase - Possible Pros: Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, or Randy Orton. In the Steamboat book of simply I dont think being ready. I guess it depends how long season 1 lasts. Maybe 6 months to a year from now he'll be more ready. The pros write themselves. Alex Riley - Possible Pros: Jack Swagger, Santino Marella, Goldust. Been receiving a good deal of house show/pre-show tryouts. So WWE sees something in him, as far as being ready he is likely one of the more ready ones in FCW. Pros: The Carlito of the season. Someone like Swagger wors. You may be a whatever graduate, I'm a pro and an All-American American. Alberto Banderas - Possible Pros: Rey Mysterio, Evan Bourne, John Morrison. He runs into the problem of being Mexican. I know that sounds bad. But language barrier, generic/bad look (Put the mask back on). He is likely the most ready guy in FCW besides Kaval though. And from there I really feel it becomes a slipperly slop. As far as readiness goes, one would have to assume the next guys could be either Johnny Curtis or Joe Doering, but who knows. I wouldnt put it past WWE to want one of its new "freaks" on the show, Conrad Tanner, Jackson Andrews, or Kipp Christianson. Maybe having Kipp & Great Khali and Andrews & Big Show could be fun. Two giant tandems. EDIT: There is always a chance they do a Diva-Version or Tag Team Version as well.
  10. The Hurricane, Paul Burchill, & Maria are the recentley released now.
  11. he's not going to be a big success. Until WWE changes its style. He'll achieve Tajiri like stardom at best, maybe an IC title run. Same with Evan Bourne. Note: I'd rather watch "WWE Cruiserweights" a new show featuring Bourne, Kaval, Danielson, ext any day but its just not going to happen.
  12. Seems with NXT coming on, and the batch of Fall cleaning releases that mostly came out of development, WWE is re-loading it seems. Some guys, granted, have been under a deal for a while but have just recentley debut in FCW, like Richie Steamboat and Ray Leppan. But they have now added G-Rilla (a returning former releasee) and Mason Ryan, whoever he is. And of course both of Rikishi's sons are now in FCW thanks to the arrival of Joshua Fatu aka Jules Uso. http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/wilhelmce/MasonRyan.jpg http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/wilhelmce/RichieSteamboat.jpg http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/wilhelmce/G-Rilla.jpg http://i464.photobucket.com/albums/rr2/wilhelmce/JulesUso.jpg Now apparentley there are a couple other guys on their way in. Domino has been at the last batch of shows using his Cliff Compton character, and there are still the unconfirmed signings of Incognito, Barri Griffiths, Jemma Palmer, & Super Nova. Hopefully development can get its next Blue Chip (aka Orton/Batista/Cena/Lesnar) prospect that I simply dont feel they've had in a while. I mean Jack Swagger is pretty darn good, but he's just not clicking right now for some reason, I fully expect him to though. If you dont count the NXT call ups, the only guys in FCW now that really seem to have any chance of achieving success (and granted WWE has a record of pulling no-ones into somewhat useable guys like Kofi) are Joe Hennig, Richie, & maybe someone like Conrad Tanner can get transformed into a great monster/psycho and hopefully become a successful version of Mike Knox/Vance Archer. Conrad Tanner aka Kyle Rassmussen: The new Goldberg? EDIT: Apparently Mason Ryan is simply a clean shaven Barri Griffiths.
  13. I just want to mention how amazing CM Punk is (as a heel especially) his promo during SmackDown right now is such proof of that. He gets legitement heel heat, not cheap, not X-Pac, and not "you are just beating the guy we like" heat. I think its been a long time since theres truley been a heel (sans Jericho maybe) who can get as much heat on his own.
  14. That's a terrific idea. Maybe go with a CM Punk vs. Christian match in a hair vs. vs. hair title match. Or Punk vs. Morrison in a hair match would be terrific. Though you'd assume Punk has to lose.
  15. I was obviously sarcastic.... haha. I dont know if I like Edge winning. The only way this really works is if WWE changes both top champs before Mania. I mean, Edge vs. Sheamus or Taker doenst sound that good. So you'd assume they want Edge vs. Jericho, applying Taker lose and go to face HBK on the lowercard. Then Sheamus faces who? HHH straight up? what does Cena do? Orton has Legacy to fight... Cena vs. HHH would be good for the world belt, but that means Sheamus must loose.
  16. I know man. Everyone called Edge winning it. Who didnt? TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT WWE!
  17. The problem is not only is Sheamus just brutal. Not anything special in the ring, cant cut a promo. But there is nothing special about him. If he got a tan & had brown hair. He's Kevin Thorn.
  18. WWE ROYAL RUMBLE RESULTS: (edited as they happen) Announce team is Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, & Matt Striker. No Grish/Josh/Saxton anywhere. I say make Cole/Striker the RAW announce team. Hopefully after Mania they will in a draft. ECW Title Match: Christian retains over Ezekiel Jackson w/William Regal (Missed this. Was looking for a.. way to watch this... *cough*) Teddy Long & Tiffany are backstage. Cryme Tyme shows up and says Great Khali agreed to give them his Rumble Spot. Some shenanigans ensue. Miz shows up, pisses of Teddy, who someone makes an IC title match between Miz & MVP next. Cody Rhodes tells Randy Orton that Ted Dibiase has been talking that he plans on winning the rumble himself and using it to challenge Randy for the title if Randy wins it. United States Title Match: The Miz retains over Montel Vontavious Porter -Miz won with a roll up out of the ropes. Decent match. -Miz tried to hit MVP after the match, but fell victim to the Playmaker. -Both guys are still in the rumble. -Seems to be a fairly strong "smark" portion of the crowd. Miz got some pops "Miz is Awesome" chant. MVP's post match attack was booed. But still plenty of normals (eg "ballin" was over) Jericho & Big Show have a reunion backstage. Jericho says Show is an idiot "like the fans" for hooking up with Miz. Show says Jericho is the same as Miz. The tension is turned when Jericho begins to hint a reunion. Show says if it comes down to him, Him, & Jericho, he'll throw everyone out. R-Truth shows up saying he'll through Jericho out. Jericho says he has back up in Big Show, but Big Show had walked away. R-Truth reminds him its every man for himself. Dibiase runs into Orton backstage. Dibiase basically said the same thing about Cody that Cody had said about Ted. The big difference is Cody implied Randy would be champion, Ted said Cody said he'd challenge Sheamus. Orton says he plans on winning the belt and doesn't want any help. Guess its next. Hype video for Shatner on RAW & the Hart/Vince confrontation this monday. Gotta hype that free TV on the Pay-Per-View. WWE Title Match: Sheamus retains over Randy Orton -Randy was the face clearly. Without acting "facey". -Sheamus is the heel, but no one really cares. -Randy had the match won, but Cody interfeared hitting Sheamus causing the DQ. -After the match: Cody apolgizes to Randy over and over. Crowd chants "RKO". Randy instead beats the hell out of Cody. Ted comes out to stop him. Orton decks him with a punch. Orton seems to be the face here though. Orton says they are "done & finished". Sheamus is up, Pump kick to Randy. Wasnt a huge beatdown Orton to Dibiase/Rhodes though. Both guys just leave the ring with Orton laid out by Sheamus. The announcers were super-silent throughout the whole post match thing. DONT DO THIS AT HOME video. All new guys though. No more watching HHH/Angle fall through a table. Mickie James vs. Michelle McCool is up next. Did you know Mickie is considered fat? Despite being possibly the hottest WWE diva sans maybe Maryse & Maria? Funny that the #1 contenders match was Beth vs. Mickie vs. Nattie... Any combination of those would make a WAY better match then this will be. One of those videos running down the feud... Funny its the only one that has had one yet, and its been mainly a recap of the fat jokes. I'll be so sad if Mickie doesnt go over. Michelle gets a pre-match promo. I bet you cant guess what she said to hype this match. Apparently Mickie James has a hairlip... I mean she's fat, apparently. She does say that Mickie "isnt here". Layla comes out as Piggie James. Apparently this is worth paying-to-view. Before Layla makes it to the ring. MICKIE IS HERE! Takes out Layla. Women's Title Match: Mickie James defeated Michelle McCool to become the new champ! -The match was literally this. Michelle attempts to kick Mickie, Mickie Moves, Michelle instead hits Layla off the apron. Mickie kicks Michelle in the gut. Spike DDT. Fin. -After the match, Mickie kicks Layla who falls on Michelle. The rest of the divas bring out a cake and shove it in the face of Layla/Michelle. -Thank GOD this ended how it did. NO WAY OUT... errr... ELIMINATION CHAMBER hype featuring Triple H. Rey Mysterio is backstage, staring into the camera intensely. Hype video for Rey vs. Taker World Heavyweight Title Match:
  19. I know. but if WWE is by definition National in America, aka recognized throughout the country, how can TNA be ANYWHERE near them? WWE being a global company is because they are also national in pretty much all other countries as well. So if TNA is basically a sliver to WWE's Giant Redwood (CVERSE~!) how can it at all beconsiderd a National promotion? EDIT: And what Slim Jim said is why I went on my TNA vs. WWE rant. Because you implied with your made-up math TNA was in fact a bigger company then WWE but with bad advertising.
  20. No... just... no... and spell check... By YOUR logic, TNA is bigger then WWE because WWE doesnt average 10,000 for a house show. I hate TNA fans SO much. And I'm not a WWE fan. I like all wrestling equally (even TNA). It all has ups and downs. But why do TNA fans feel the need to always say how good they are and not just except reality? TNA is the second biggest company in North America. correct. But are they anywhere near the level of WWE? no. WWE TV gets 15,000 (give or take) PAID through the door. TNA TV gets 1500 FREE through the door. So TNA is 1/10th the size of WWE in that sense. WWE house shows get 7000 I'd say on average (that could be wrong, usually its between 5000 and 9000 so) and TNA gets 500-750, call it 625. That makes them 1/11th the size of WWE. TNA PPV gets around 35,000 buys (for their big ppvs) (and some are WAY lower then that) and WWE gets "low" 235,000 buys. So TNA is 1/6th the size of WWE there. And thats not measuring against the 1,000,000 or so that get Mania (WWE's biggest PPV) which would make TNA 1/28th the size of WWE. All you are allowed to measure is TRUTH and FACT. This isnt Fox news with hypothetical, fantasy, & opinion. Whether TEW terms apply or not is really the thing that should be debated. But being as this is GDS's board they do. Drawing 1500 people is cult. DEAL with it. And dont do what typical TNA fans do and use TNA's best number vs. WWE's worst. Or just TNA's best. Sure maybe they drew 3000 to a house show once (dont know if thats true just made it up) but that doenst count.
  21. So, ROH is also National? And WWE is........ I think the honest to god problem (this just occured to me) is people are trying to measure from the bottom up. You have to relate from the top down. if WWE is global, or WWE is international, or what have you. Then this promotion, be it TNA, ROH, or whatever, must be this.
  22. ^^ The problem with TNA. they came to Oshawa (Toronto basically) and did 1500 and thought that was so good they would come back and do a PPV. And they gave tickets away for that house show. When ROH comes to town, they do about... lets seee... 1500. I guess they're national.
  23. glad to see you back Kam. Cant wait to see how your work evolves alongside TEW. PS. seeing SAW in TEW is the best thing ever.
  24. I have to admit I'm not liking all these general discussion threads. Should I create a general discussion thread for AJPW if I even want to talk about them.
