  1. BBW presents: Not Quite Dead Yet Friday, Week 4 November 1997 at the Iwata Hall, Tohoku With my reinvented self still a few months away from actually making an appearance, I decided to open the show by airing a video package about the new me. Gotta keep reminding those fans about me while I’m away, I’m the damn ace of this company! King of Pain Tournament Nobuhito Ogiwara vs SHIRO This is just one of these matches that have to happen because of the tournament. No one cares much about SHIRO and fans still crapped on Ogiwara, but the chaotic mess that was this bout helped hide the big stoner’s shortcomings a little bit. Plus he’s still getting a reaction, as opposed to SHIRO’s none. If fans want to boo him, I guess that makes him a heel and a pretty over one at that, so he got the win and gods help me with this big oaf in the future. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but terrible wrestling, Nobuhito Ogiwara defeated SHIRO in 10:04 by pinfall with a Roaring Elbow. King of Pain Tournament Nukenin vs SPIDER Inao I mean, Inao was brought in on a trial run and Nukenin’s our breakout star, there was never a question over who’s winning this but they did have a pretty interesting contest. This was also where my plans went out the window. See, I had originally thought of the tournament as a way to introduce the King of Pain title, which would be a midcard title for young high flyers like these two to compete over. Nukenin, of course, would be the standard bearer of that division, but he’d already gotten way more over than I thought and worse, his contract was coming up soon. I tried to chat him up about an extension and he promptly told me to go f**k myself. I’m not sure if he’s still bitter about me shouting at him after he broke my jaw or if he thinks he’s outgrown this promotion, the bottom line is he won’t be sticking around. Now I have to handle his departure while I also reconfigure the damn tournament brackets. So much for my dreams of a holiday after the injury. What does a man have to do around here to get a break? In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Nukenin defeated SPIDER Inao in 13:52 by pinfall with a surprise roll up. Alright enough of the tournament for now, the semifinal brackets are known and here’s a video to hype up next show’s clash, the master of the guillotine Mamoru Nagahama versus the American psychopath Doug Peak! Double Trouble vs Genghis Rahn & Madman Boone Every chance I get to book Double Trouble, I do it because these two seem to have a great chemistry between them which I want to compliment with enough teamwork experience. It’s probably the only way Bennett can ever work in BBW, being as technically-oriented as he is he’d never work as a singles star. Rahn and Boone were a no-brainer, they’ve had some experience working as a team overseas and it gave them a bit of the spotlight, with Rahn carrying his young teammate through the match before scoring the pin. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Madman Boone & Genghis Rahn defeated Double Trouble in 10:38 when Genghis Rahn defeated Henry Bennett by pinfall with a Rahn To The Hills. Munenori Umari took center stage next, filling in for our ring announcer as he hyped up the night’s main event where his new clients, the McWade brothers, would be teaming up with Psycho to take on Tamura and the Dynasty Warriors title holders. Fans still seemed to be warming up to the gaijin trio, but having someone with the mic skills of Umari to hype them up certainly helped. w Natsuhisa Tamura and Matsubara & Onodera vs Psycho and The McWade Brothers (with Munenori Umari) Talking the foreigners up is one thing to get them over, seeing them in action against established stars is another. Well, defeating said stars too, but they’re not ready for that just yet. For now, the McWades were the big bruiser duo and Psycho really amped up the craziness alongside Tamura, who debuted a new finisher called the Car Crash Dive to get the pin. Way to wrap up the show and might I add, what a fitting name for a move, considering the usual psychology around Tamura’s matches. In a decent match, Natsuhisa Tamura and Matsubara & Onodera defeated Psycho and The McWade Brothers in 14:26 when Natsuhisa Tamura defeated Psycho by pinfall with a Car Crash Dive. Show Rating:
  2. Thanks. I am 67,89% convinced that having a dirty doctor backstage isn't helping with things like that, but I'll take it for the overall sleazy indy fed feel (and the occasional bump up in size)
  3. Calvin: Who let the dooooogs out... Jerry: Please don't... Calvin: That's right people, it's time to look into CTUC Dog Days, the first show in the revamped bi-weekly schedule of the weird and crappy promotion we love to keep up with on this podcast. Jerry: Speak for yourself, Calvin. I'll give them one thing though, they made this a pretty big deal and had every title on the line. Calvin: Almost every title, there was no defense of the Women's title, or should I say, CTUC Baddest Bitch title! w Jerry: Things kick off with a trios match for the vacant CTUC Nation of Violence titles. For those of you new to this part of the show, this used to be the promotion's main title until they realized it sounds like a trios title. So of course, instead of renaming it, they made it a trios title and introduced the Internet title as their main strap. Calvin: Right. This was done at the start of the previous show, with the original idea being that Grim Reefer would be handing it to his Soul Jive Bros: Dr. Funkenstein, Simba the Tribal Warrior and Tyrell Starr. Thing is, Starr took offense and turned on the group, so now they had to crown new champions. Jerry: Well I don't think there was ever any question as to how this would play out, Club Exotico are comedy jobbers on a losing streak, though I'd argue they could use those titles as much as ze Germanz here. Calvin: Might have been the fact that they opened the show with a titles match, but this had pretty solid action too, enough to take it a notch above the usual two star standard of CTUC matches. Jerry: I still can't tell which German is which and I certainly can't get over the fact they call that finisher the Fuhrer-Plex. Anyhow, Satanico took the fall and here we are now, Die Übersoldaten are your first ever CTUC Nation of Violence champions. Calvin: The post-match angle was... less exciting though. Supposedly building on last show when Hardcore Barbie beat Abominatrix and then got jumped by her cronies, but man was Barbie's promo here a mess or what! Jerry: Yeah her talking was a mess, I can't tell if it was stress, a bad moment or whether she can't shoot and needs a script, but that was uncomfortable to watch as she made a fool of herself, in a bad way. Calvin: Thing is, she kept that feud going and I do believe she was trying to hint at bringing in backup, but it was really hard to tell the way she was stuttering. Jerry: In that sense, it was wise they rushed into the night's jigglefest and once again, it stole the show in terms of a fan reaction. For what it was, it gets a solid three and a half stars. For what it was. Calvin: I don't know how much longer they can keep putting the Devil's Playthings against various combinations of the Sins' ladies, but I guess if this still sells, it makes good sense to keep doing it. Jerry: Plus Lillith got some heat back by pinning Envy. Calvin: And Envy managed to make it through the match without injuring herself. Jerry: It's funny how she's now the butt of these jokes since Killboy Powerhead left, but I'd like to also point out how much Avarice seems to have grown. I'd say she almost outperformed Lust in this one. Calvin: We're not having this discussion about an Eye Candy match. On to the next one. w Jerry: Well here's another matchup you might find a bit overplayed, Calvin. Bonechillers versus Gluttony and Sloth for the CTUC Deadly Duo titles. Calvin: True, though they've managed to keep this feud a bit more fresh by throwing in all sorts of stipulations. We've seen a straight match, a Ladder match and this one was a Tables match so they all felt a little bit different. Jerry: We're back to the usual two star CTUC match and Skullsy looked terrible to be honest, he basically botched every spot he was in, to the point where I'm thinking they may have altered the match on the fly to have him be the first person to be eliminated. Calvin: If they did, good call, took him out of the match to hide his shortcomings since he was clearly having a terrible night. It also fits his goofy character, I gotta say I chuckled at Skullmageddon's temper tantrum after his teammate was eliminated. Jerry: It also helped the match in dramatic terms, I mean the Bonechillers were the underdogs here even in a straight 2 on 2 situation, let alone 2 on 1. Calvin: You know what, as soon as it came down to that, my first thought was 'Gluttony's missing some move to end up crashing through a tabe'. Which is exactly what happened. Jerry: I don't know, maybe they should have kept that for the finish because one on one, you could tell something was wrong with Sloth. Calvin: He was stoned out of his mind, that's what was wrong! Jerry: Well here's the funny thing about CTUC, I think this match exemplifies the way they work. Everything falls apart, they pretend that was the plan all along and somehow, it works! Not just works, it makes sense even! Calvin: CTUC making sense?! Jerry: No, think about it for a moment. Skullsy's out first, but his character is that of an incompetent sidekick anyway. Gluttony eliminates himself, but that's who he is, an impulsive brute. Sloth is being all sluggish, but that's his character. And Skullmageddon retains the belts after a 2 on 1, reaffirming his whacky character! Calvin: If you wanna talk actual plans and not adjusting on the fly, how about the post-match promo from Jungle Boogie. They challenged for the titles and you know what, having them on that spot while Starr and Reefer feud for the main strap makes a lot more sense than holding them all down as the Nation of Violence champions. Jerry: Well hold on to your horses, because the CTUC Bucket of Blood title was up next and that can only mean one thing... Both: EL CHUPACABRA! w w Calvin: Let's get this out of the way first, this was nothing like the chaotic wild hardcore matches we've come to expect from these two, or the Bucket of Blood title matches. Jerry: Not to say it was tame, but yeah other than Moxley's bladejob, they could have done a lot more with this setup. Maybe they were holding back to protect the champion after his injury? Calvin: Not sure, but I'll say he and Annabelle the Canni-belle are a great pairing in their animalistic ways, how they seem to communicate with grunts and all that act. Way to keep her around in a pretty crowded Women's Division and a nice way to get her over as part of that new stable. Jerry: Speaking of which, Señor Mosca also made an appearance for the assist, helping the champion retain. I'll give it two and a half stars, what is even happening to the good ol' two star CTUC classics?! Calvin: Next up was the Baddest Bitch title segment, you're right about that one not being on the line, Jerry, so this was the angle to set up a match between Pride and Señora Muerte for next show. Jerry: Yeah a pretty basic "if you want a job done right, do it yourself" kind o' promo, but it got the point across and these two are over like it's nobody's business. I'm guessing they could headline next show with that match, easy. Calvin: I'm just hoping it's not made into another Bra & Panties match or whatever. Jerry: Big match in the main event for the brand new CTUC Internet title, Grim Reefer versus Tyrell Starr. Calvin: Surprised they didn't stretch that feud for more. Well, I guess after Mikey Malice dropped the title, anything can happen. Jerry: Wonder where he went off after he dropped the title. Anyway, this was the night's stunt show and I'll say it right now, putting Starr in that kind of match really let him shine. He's got the crazy moves to pull this off. Calvin: And he came crashing onto a trash can when he missed one of them, gotta have these kinds of spots every now and then to remind fans why they're called "high risk moves". Jerry: True, that was the turning point of the match where Reefer took control for good, leading up to the big final Tombstone Piledriver onto the chair. Another two and a half match, hell, I'd say overall it was a two and a half show, way to go CTUC! Calvin: They're certainly getting better after their first year, they know their workers, they've gotten them over, they've seen what works and now I'm curious to see if they can make this bi-weekly show thing work without burning up storylines or too much cash.
  4. Diggin' the vibe here and some pretty bangin' song selections. Keep 'em coming, please...
  5. Slumming it out with the girls in Sendai, I was hit with an epiphany about how to make my big return once I'd be cleared from injury. I was the damn ace of this company, so I might as well start acting like a rockstar. I got rid of the bandana, dyed my goatee silver-ish and grabbed a kickass black leather jacket to put together a new look for myself. While at it, some "friends" introduced me to one badass lady by the name of Chopper Nishida, who apparently had been involved in the business not long ago. They were looking to help her with employment and while she couldn't wrestle anymore, she was one big, mean lady so I decided to bring her in as my enforcer (and implied love interest? Hm, a note for the future...) If nothing else, I figured having someone like her beat down some people on the roster would be an interesting visual.

Hiranuma Makoto here alongside Yuko Okui as usual and what a night we've got in store for you! Yuko Okui: Hello from me as well, an exciting card indeed as we'll be opening the show with a 6 woman tag match before Team Endorphine and BATTLE BEASTS meet once again with the WINNOW Duet titles on the line! Hiranuma Makoto: The two teams have been at it for quite some time and it's anyone's game at this point, as is the following match where Romi Yamato and Chitose Ariwara face Ginko Kuroda and Faith McGee! Yuko Okui: Kuroda is a former WINNOW Rising Champion and Yamato now holds that belt so she'll be looking to reclaim it. If she can pin Yamato tonight, she'll have the right to challenge her for a title match! Hiranuma Makoto: And finally, our big main event, Yu Hashimoto finally faces the WINNOW Grand Champion Joanne Rodriguez! Eri Sato, Rika Tsujimura and Hoshiko Tagawa vs Rei Chikanatsu, Ochiyo Iijima and Asami Okubo A standard multi woman tag match to open the show and undercard, this one was built around Sato and Iijima's upcoming clash for the WINNOW Pure Heart title but also gave the young lionesses a chance to showcase themselves. Chikanatsu also saught to play a big role here but eventually it was Tsujimura who got he pin for her team over Asami Okubo Winners: Eri Sato, Rika Tsujimura and Hoshiko Tagawa Finish: Running Knee Bomb WINNOW Duet titles match BATTLE BEASTS vs Team Endorphine Long time rivals, the two teams were no strangers to each other and it showed in the many feints and counters thrown into this match. Endo's experience and ferocity really brought the fight to her strong style opponents but once again, Emiko Miyoshi was the weakest link and she was pinned by the massive BEAST Kaori, albeit with some extra leverage as the monster grabbed Miyoshi's tights to secure the pin. Winners: BATTLE BEASTS [Defences: 1] Finish: Pinfall with a handful of tights Romi Yamato & Chitose Ariwara vs Ginko Kuroda & Faith McGee Easily the most fast paced spectacle of the night, this match saw all four participants give it their all as they threw everything they had at each other. Kuroda and Yamato kept things together with their strikes and technical prowess, while Ariwara and McGee brought the flashy high flying moves to wow the crowd in a great and pretty evenly split match that fittingly ended with Ariwara surprising McGee for the pin. Winners: Romi Yamato & Chitose Ariwara Finish: Victory Roll WINNOW Grand Champion title match Joanne "J-Ro" Rodriguez © vs Yu Hashimoto Rodriguez really needs no introduction by this point. She is the inaugural winner of the WINNOW Joshi Royalty Summit, a former WINNOW Rising Champion and reigning double champion as she holds both the WINNOW Grand Champion and WWA World Championship title. Hashimoto was unafraid though and she quickly shut down the (over)confident champion with her physicality and intense striking style. Once that put the brakes to Rodriguez, the match kicked into the classic slow burner gear of textbook puroresu, with the two women testing each other out and cautiously pacing themselves in order to avoid making the first mistake. Not only did this mean they had plenty of time to draw fans in and tell a great story, it also elevated the drama and importance of the match from another title defense to a proper clash of generations. Rodriguez went more than once for the J-Rocker and Hashimoto looked like she'd done her homework as she either blocked or avoided it, but so had J-Ro who was able to duck right under the End Game and avoid an abrupt stop to the match. Things went past the twenty minute mark, an unusual duration for a WINNOW match but eventually Hashimoto was able to connect with her finisher and in a dramatic finale that had everyone on the stands counting along, she got the three count to defeat Rodriguez. Winner and NEW WINNOW Grand Champion: Yu Hashimoto Finish: The End Game [spinning Back Fist] Hashimoto had little time to celebrate her victory as Thea Davis, Laura Flame, Claire Winters and Selina Svelte surrounded the ring. What originally looked like an ambush was subverted when Davis stepped to the side and offered Hashimoto a clear way back to the locker room. Still hestitating in case this was a trap, the exhausted Hashimoto made a cautious retreat and then the four women climbed inside the ring to surround a reeling Rodriguez. The former WINNOW Grand Champion was glad to recognize her friend and was about to ask her for some help to stand back up, but Davis shocked the world when instead she slapped Rodriguez in the face! As if on cue, the other three pounced and the show ended with a beatdown that left Rodriguez down and title-less while Davis, Flame, Winters and Svelte stood tall as Davis got on the mic to announce that from now on, these four will be known as... 7. This is actually some great context and sounds really fitting for GSW, my favourite CVerse promotion. Will be following of course and really hoping this diary will fare better than attempt #1
  8. Thanks I got a bunch of reasons for doing this diary and a chance to use your BBW titles is one of them
  9. BBW presents: Bloodied Yet Unbowed Sunday, Week 2 November 1997 at the Iwata Hall, Tohoku King of Pain tournament match Doug Peak vs I, Butcher I split the first round of the King of Pain tournament across two shows and with the quarterfinal pairings finalized, we began this show by going straight into the next stage of the tournament. Two gaijin hardcore psychopaths tearing it up was all it took to get the audience going, even if some of them had been hoping for a Doug vs Eddie match here instead. They’d have gone into the audience stands too, were it not for Henry Lee hidden amongst the crowd. Lee made his presence known by grabbing Butcher from behind the barricade and cutting into his flesh with a fork he’d been carrying, which was all it took for Doug Peak to take control of the match and bring the fight back between the ropes so he could hit the House of Horrors for the pin. Peak moves on, Butcher stays behind to continue his feud with Lee. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Doug Peak defeated I, Butcher in 11:05 by pinfall with a House Of Horrors following interference from Henry Lee. King of Pain tournament match Matsudaira Morioka vs Mamoru Nagahama This is the tag team partners clash people should be wanting to see, even if Naga-Mori hadn’t yet risen up to be the stars they later were with WEXXV. They both showed respect to each other before the start of the match and really gave it their best shot, each man pushing the other to hit harder and challenging him to stand back up every time they fell down. Take notes Matsubara and Onodera, this is how you work your style in this kind of environment. No one’s out for crisp technical wrestling or precise strikes, what people want is stiffness on offense and toughness on defense. Anyway, it was a damn good match and Nagahama got the tap out thanks to his dreaded Nagahama Guillotine, meaning he’d be moving on to the semi finals for an interesting match against Doug Peak. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Mamoru Nagahama defeated Matsudaira Morioka in 11:10 by submission with a Nagahama Guillotine. Nukenin was out next to cut a promo on his next tournament match against SPIDER Inao and I swear it didn’t matter what he said, fans ate it up. I knew I’d found my junior heavyweight ace and if he could bulk up a bit after a while, maybe he could even be my number two. Back to the promo, the idea was to build up expectation for an Inao retaliation, but instead of him it was Madman Boone who hit the ring to make a spectacular comeback, forcing Nukenin to a quick retreat. Madman Boone vs Psycho If you thought the opening match was a mess, wait till you hear about this one… Both guys put the pedal to the metal straight out of the gate and turned this bout into a frantic train wreck you can’t help but observe in horror and fascination. Psycho led the match as the veteran and he unleashed his wide array of crazy attacks, including a suplex onto a bed of nails that did just as much damage to himself as it did to his opponent. I don’t know if it was the jet lag or having to follow someone else instead of improvising his stuff on the fly, but Boone didn’t seem like he was 100% there. It didn’t get better as he ran out of steam, but he did cap it off with a spectacular no hands plancha over the top rope (remember, he’s no junior heavyweight!) that saw him go through a table at ringside. That was pretty match the deciding point of the match, with Psycho basically dragging Boone back into the ring to hit the Psychotic Break and get the pinfall victory. In a bout that didn't have much heat and terrible wrestling, Psycho defeated Madman Boone in 10:06 by pinfall with a Psychotic Break. w Taka Hoshizawa and Matsubara & Onodera vs Genghis Rahn and The McWade Brothers (with Munenori Umari) This match was there to keep the tag team titles feud going, with the champions and challengers teaming up with Hoshizawa and Rahn respectively. I mean, merely seeing Hoshizawa in there should be clear enough of an indication that he was the designated man to eat the pin, but that didn’t prevent everyone involved from putting on a decent performance, including Hoshizawa who was trying to keep up with the others. In fact, being so willing to take big bumps as he is, he added that much needed hardcore element to the “straight” puroresu style of Matsubara & Onodera before he was knocked out of his boots by a huge lariat, courtesy of Dean McWade who also scored the pin. In a bout that had a decent reaction from the crowd but sub-par wrestling, Genghis Rahn and The McWade Brothers defeated Taka Hoshizawa and Matsubara & Onodera in 13:53 when Dean McWade defeated Taka Hoshizawa by pinfall with a Canadian Lariat. Henry Lee vs Natsuhisa Tamura This one continued the story from the brawl that wrapped up There Will Be Blood, but it also doubled as an unofficial title contendership match of sorts. I’d booked and promoted this before my injury so I’m glad we never officially announced it as a match for a shot at my title, but another reason I’m glad I handled it that way is because Lee seemed a bit lacking in the intensity section. I, Butcher was supposed to show up and return the favour to Lee for costing him the tournament match earlier, but I’d been holding back on the idea;if this match wasn’t for a shot at the title, what exactly was Butcher costing Lee? That is, until the boys told me that Henry got a whole bottle of painkillers from Dr. Beefcake before the match and washed its entire contents out with a bottle of vodka. I don’t know how that crazy bastard hadn’t killed himself already, but I told Butcher to go out and mess him up real bad. One, because he f***ing deserved it for performing high and two, because we needed a reason to legitimately rush him to the hospital for stomach treatment. Not waiting for me to say it twice, Butcher stormed to the ring and really let loose on Lee, before setting up the chair for Tamura to hit his Super Murder Bomb and get the pin as whatever medical staff we had available (besides Dr. Beefcake, obviously) hit the ring to stretcher Lee away. In a bout that had great heat and decent wrestling, Natsuhisa Tamura defeated Henry Lee in 13:38 by pinfall with a Super Murder Bomb. During the match we also had I, Butcher distract Henry Lee. Round 2, 4:38 [Decent]</p><p> </p><p> - Show opened with a heated rivalry in the Super Heavyweight division, with neither man touching gloves, as was expected after their long war of words prior to this bout. Jimenez was the clear favourite and had the weight advantage but it only beat his conditioning instead of his opponent early on. Even when he was able to take down Gorner in the middle of round two, he couldn't finish the job with strikes or a submission and it looked like this was going to go to the judges, before Jimenez finally took down Gorner with less than a minute left to go and came away with a TKO finish.</p><p> </p><p> - A much anticipated fight in the Lightweight division as the undefeated Chakrit Mamanee met with Harald Hubner in the German's RSC debut. Hubner, a long time roster member, has been mostly fighting for SIGMA and had something to prove here against the Thai submission specialist. It was a very even fight and it showed in the final result, but Hubner was just able to outstrike his opponent and prevent things from going to the mat, where Mamanee is strongest. It even looked like a knock out finish early in the third round was in store, but Mamanee survived the strike and subsequent bombs, however he did not manage to convince the judges of his dominance and was unable to retain his undefeated streak.</p><p> </p><p> - Maja Krawczyk's undefeated streak was protected and grown in the Women's Featherweight division though, as the blue chipper rookie took out her Brazilian rival Rosamaria Correa to further rise up the ranks. Although Krawczyk did not call out any opponent after the fight, she is likely to face either Rachel McGuiness or former champion Vasya Kaczmarek and if she's able to win that fight, perhaps even move to a title shot.</p><p> </p><p> - An all-British fight in front of a British audience for the semi main event and hometown hero Percy Catcher scored a big win over "The Big Dog" Dave Lennon, ending the bout in a roar of cheers from fans.</p><p> </p><p> - And from an all-British co-main to the all-Brazilian title match of the night as Carlos dos Santos successfully retained his title against Leandro Piquet. The challenger got mildly outstruck in the opening round and apparently wanted to try a different approach in round two, however his clinch backfired when dos Santos used it to take him down and after some back and forth grappling, the defending champion was able to lock on the Rear Naked Choke to end the main event with a victory.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Bonus</span></strong></p><p><strong> Fight of the Night:</strong> Krawczyk vs Correa</p><p> <strong>KO of the Night:</strong> Popov vs Bodjukan</p><p> <strong>Submission of the Night:</strong> dos Santos vs Piquet</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Post-Fight</span></strong></p><p><strong> Carlos dos Santos:</strong> <em>"Shout-out to everyone in Combat Team Curitiba, still holding onto this gold thing, boys!"</em></p><p> <strong>Leandro Piquet:</strong> <em>"Of course I'm disappointed, but Carlos won fair and clean, congratulations to him for this victory."</em></p><p> <strong>Percy Catcher:</strong> <em>"This one's for all you people in the stands, thank you so much for pushing me, I couldn't stand to lose in front of you"</em></p><p> <strong>Harald Hubner:</strong> <em>"I think I have a thing for Asian opponents. I offered them both touring contracts to try them out and debuted them here in a fast paced spotfest telling a simple story, white meat babyface young lion against nasty sadistic masked heel. Not that BBW was ever about a hard face/heel divide, but keeping things simple and bold helps get the characters across to a new audience. 16. Now all we need is for JSilver's Jarvis and Hernandez portraits above to merge so we can give him a Maria Manic inspired lady to go with.
  17. There's a difference between lower and lowest level drones. That's like saying James Ellsworth is now a legit main eventer because he was thrown into a short ME program as a comedy character. Speaking of which, I always wondered, are Akam and Rezar supposed to be a joke on Okham's Razor?
  18. Thing is, she's my top draw (by far) and the Exoticos are all on the very bottom. They might fit thematically, but it doesn't make much sense booking-wise. Then again, when was CTUC about wise or sensible booking?
  19. Well it's a more serious deathmatch approach compared to the silliness of CTUC, but I do seem to need more angles and character work. Noted.
  20. OWC Heavyweight Championship - Street Fight Seth Whitehead vs Bullseye Comments: It's a big event, so I can see a big title switch happening. Whitehead's been champ for long enough, Bullseye is a hardcore type that can sell a victory here and frankly, if he doesn't win, where can he and Street go from there? Two on One Handicap match Oniji Hanari and Amok vs Martyr Comments: I'm surprised at how hard this is to predict. As bad as Hanari and the new kid are, I'm guessing the numbers game eventually catches up to Martyr, plus Amok's a big dude and clowns always seem to have some trick up their sleeve. Robin DaLay vs ??? Comments: Guessing some big name debuts here Phobia vs Hurakan Comments: More upside to Phobia since he's a more hardcore-esque type and his gimmick fits OWC's style better. OWC Womens Championship Asami Okubo vs Emiko Miyoshi vs Betty Dugal vs Mickie Sixx Comments: Stabbity stab. OWC Bloodlust Championship - Tables match Urban Fox vs Trainwreck Comments: Push the toaster! Silas Odswald vs DISCO Kikuchi Comments: Love Kikuchi and his wild gimmicks, but come on. He's a comedy character. One of the few guys Odswald can get a win over, these days
  21. Rookie Real World No Nomination from me here Rookie C-Verse/Fictional EFW: EXTREME FORCE WRESTLING! by Voeltzwagon I'm a FORCE! fan and a Voeltz fan. Pretty sure the Oddworld will be nominated again, so I'm shining a light on this little gem instead. Veteran Real World No Nomination from me here Veteran C-Verse/Fictional The return of RMW/CWL in The Summit by Historian. The Climb was a wonderful diary and as shocking as it was to see it end once it hit National size, it was equally shocking to have a sequel come back out of nowhere. Showcase The OWC album in The Oddworld by Bigelow Cartwheel I love assigning entrance songs to wrestlers and this was a great way to showcase these without spamming them during shows or adding links to a roster listing in the opening post. The picks are great fits for his characters and this is coming after an ongoing joke about OWC merchandise, so it was built up perfectly. Match Orcus vs (Donde Esta) La Pollo! for the CTUC Bucket of Blood title @ CTUC Thankskilling in Chi-Town Urban Combat by DarK_RaideR I try to avoid nominating myself, but La Pollo was literally a cult hero smash hit out of nowhere and I've spent my Showcase vote already. CTUC established EL CHUPACABRA! as a cult icon, but that was intentional. When he got sidelined with an injury, I brought in The Man-Eating Chicken to fill in for him and keep the feud going until his return. It was a short term deal until the return from injury (also because TMEC is a Freelancer) and I was just looking for an appropriately silly, monstrous gimmick, but he did seem to strike a nerve with my reading audience and they came up with all sorts of ideas, from his entrance theme to his song and I ran with them, so this nomination is mainly driven by the desire to highlight the wonderful things that can come from the writer-reader interaction. Pollo blazed bright and this was his highest moment, competing for the hardcore midcard title only to be written out after he was thrown into a meat processor to become chicken nuggets. Event Hotlanta Hussle in SCCW Reborn: The Last Rebels by Historian and DarK_RaideR Doing this diary is an honor, it is fun and a nicely working experiment on co-booking and co-writing a promotion. We booked the show's card right after our first PPV Tenneessee Tussle so we'd know what to build up towards, then did the 4 weekly TV episodes to get there. It's been a wonderful ride and I do believe it shows in the outcome
  22. Congratulations to the winners, thanks to everyone who voted and a big thank you to Togg for keeping this up
  23. I've made that suggestion too in the past, but later discovered via the dirt sheet that in TEW16, tag team experience seems to provide a bonus in trios matches still. It's not the same as chemistry, but to use your example, the Bucks' experience would still help if they were in a trios match with Omega or some other third person.
  24. BBW presents: Hammer Smashed Head Friday, Week 2 October 1997 at the Iwata Hall, Tohoku King of Pain tournament match Acid vs Matsudara Morioka A textbook match to kick off the young lion tournament and the show itself, Acid got the crowd going with his show stealing flips before Morioka got a hold of him for some ground and pound. Acid hit his hope spots, looked like he was about to make a comeback and ultimately fell to Morioka’s Backdrop Suplex. Nice, simple and effective. King of Pain tournament match Biff the Bruiser vs Doug Peak Mr. Miwa was off working a 5SSW show again, but I guess that was better because Doug and Eddie would be competing in the tournament as individuals, not a team under his guidance as was the whole idea. This was a no-frills brawl from start to finish, with Doug bringing some hardcore action too and eventually getting the win as well with his House of Horrors finisher that apparently was really over with the fans. Duly noted. King of Pain tournament match Henry Bennett vs Nobuhito Ogiwara Yeah, these two are kinda terrible in or around a ring, Ogiwara especially, which is something the fans made sure he heard for the entirety of the match. My solution, book this to be an absolute mess so the audience never gets a chance to realize they’re actually watching some crappy wrestling. Look, it just had to take place, it did and we moved on, alright? Ogiwara didn’t deserve the win, but he got it. He may be getting go away heat from the fans, but even that is better than Bennett’s no heat or reaction at all. King of Pain tournament match Kaneie Ichihara vs Nukenin This was kinda like the opening contest, but with the roles reversed and the opposite outcome. Ichihara is no great wrestler by any stretch of the imagination, whereas Nukenin has the moves, athleticism and charisma to be a really big star down the line. So of course he won the match, duh. Ladies and gentlemen, from the man who brought you the Wood Brothers, the man who knows tag team wrestling, the man who has the answer to Mr. Miwa’s new duo of destruction, Munenori Umari presents Dallas and Dean, the McWade Brothers! Yeah, the 90s were a time of sibling tag teams everywhere. And that’s when the McWades got their first match in Japan. w Matsubara & Onodera and Taka Hoshizawa vs Psycho & The McWade Brothers (with Munenori Umari) The McWades were the new big faces (well, heels actually) but I’d also reached to the Highland Warrior to offer a tour deal to his resident hardcore maniac, a man by the stage name of Psycho, who wrestles exactly like what you'd expect from a man under that name. This was more of an introductory match for the new guys, but with the Dynasty Warriors in it I was also trying to set up a future title challenge from the McWades if they’d live up to the hype surrounding their name. Just to be sure though, I gave Psycho the pin over Matsubara to give the gaijin some momentum while I build up the McWades into a credible threat for the tag titles. If you wondered why the event was named the way it was, we had a little hype video package to let you know. I was, of course, in the main event match, but my BBW World Warrior title wasn’t. Instead, I’d be facing both Natsuhisa Tamura and Genghis Rahn in what we called the Hammer Smashed Head match: basically a weapon on a pole match, where the weapon was a hammer you’d get to smash other workers with. I’m not talking about the usual sledgehammer that wrestlers for some reason only use the butt end of, we had a damn meat tenderizer up there. Small, easy to used and guaranteed to cause at least one broken nose by the end of the match. Welcome to BBW! Hammer Smashed Head match Genghis Rahn vs Natsuhisa Tamura vs Ryu Kajahara Oh this was fun. I brought a wooden board to the ring and started the weapons action early. It was exciting, it was fast paced and it was probably a killer for Tamura who was slower and visibly tired by the end of it. Rahn was the first to go for the hammer and I shoved him off balance to send him crashing through the announcers’ table. Tamura then caught me with the Murder Bomb but of course he didn’t go for the pin, because what good would that be if the damn hammer was still hanging up there by the end of the match? Hammer in hand, Tamura closed in to beat me to a paste and I got my second wind as we fought back and forth for control of the weapon while Rahn was recollecting himself outside. I ended up putting the Kajahara Claw on Tamura, he dropped the hammer but didn’t tap and then Rahn broke it up when he came into the ring with the hammer in hand to kick me away. He then proceeded to smash that hammer again and again into Tamura’s face, so hard I legitimately feared he’d kill him or at least cause serious brain damage. For some mysterious reason, Tamura not only survived, he had a sudden surge of adrenaline that lasted just enough for him to pounce onto a stunned Rahn and hit him with the Super Murder Bomb for the pin. How we all escaped without serious injury is still a mystery to this day, but I did congratulate them both after the match for being so awesome in how they pulled this entire match off. Show Rating:
  25. In the off season, some people set up a low budget version of the DeColts’ CGC and called it Due North Canadian Wrestling. Not that I cared much, but then Tamura told me he’d signed to work for them and I just couldn’t understand why a sports entertainment promotion would ever invest in an old psychopath like Tamura. No, I was not jealous, even when they teamed him up with XFW’s Duncan Kendall and gave them the tag titles on their first show. I was a singles champion in my own country already. The only two time BBW World Warrior champion, mind you. Making calls for the winter tour was a bummer. Lamprecht probably hit the bottle hard after his final match and his gut had gone into "morbidly obese" territory. If he was into steroids as well, someone needed to tell him they require a lot of gym time too, not just upping the caloric intake. Whatever, he was gone and thus not my concern. What was my concern was that Hinote Dojo reached out to Madman Boone, while Pride Glory Honor Wrestling snatched Larry Wood for a tour. That last one really stung. Still, we had a tour to do and I wasn’t giving up. If nothing else, that only pushed me to up the ante, with new faces, a new stipulation for the main event and big tournament for the brand new BBW King of Pain title!
