  2. Jerry: Everyboooodyyyy... Calvin: Please don't Jerry: Rock your booodyyy... Calvin: Stop it Jerry: Everybooodyyy... Calvin: No Jerry: Rock your booodyyy riiight... Calvin: This is gonna be hell to pull through Jerry: Backstreet Battle is back, alright! Well, not really back, it's the first ever CTUC show under that name... Calvin: I'm still waiting for the first CTUC show that's going to be held anywhere near Chi-Town. Jerry: It's been a while, so let's get down to it. I heard things were already off with a bang in the pre-show after Powerhead gave Dr. Funkenstein a head injury. Calvin: It's been a long time coming, if we're being honest. w Jerry: So the main show opens with a trios match and if we're going Mexico, we're going all the way with Club Exotico competing in it. Their opponents, the tag team champions and Wrath, three of the seven sins and you know what Calvin, I counted them and now the group has all Seven Deadly Sins proper. Calvin: Which probably means Vanity is joining them after all, if nothing else to mess that up. Jerry: At first I thought maybe they were using this to set up a title match, but I just couldn't see how you could get Wrath out of the equation to make that happen. I guess it was just to warm up the crowd though and these Exoticos can do that proper. I mean, they're more about character and working the crowd than actually wrestling. Calvin: Which in turn set up Wrath destroying them. Jerry: Yup, clean win, fan applause and a thumbs up from me for not doing that spot again where someone messes with Tiffany Poe to send Wrath into a frenzy. Was starting to feel they might be going to that well one time too many, it was a pleasant surprise to not have that happen again. Calvin: We have a very different idea of what things we were glad to not see happen. Jerry: You know the drill, another two star CTUC classic but the actual tag title story was advanced elsewhere, after the match... Calvin: Classic comedy segment. Surprised CTUC didn't do something more tasteless Jerry: So you had the Bonechillers, sneaking into the locker room and stealing the title belts... Calvin: Completely unnoticed, except for the cameraman who was there to tape it and broadcast it to everyone Jerry: Geez Calvin, it's pro wrestling. Crappy pro wrestling, even. It's like porn or kung fu movies, you start thinking about logic and realism, you miss the whole point. Calvin: I can only suspend my disbelief to a point and that point is tested with every CTUC show. I kinda liked the Chi Church Cult promo that came next though. Jerry: So yeah, Orcus talks about how they were attacked last show and the Cult requested a match to get back at... altogether now... Both: EL CHUPACABRA! Calvin: Oh boy... yeah and all this while, Moxley's being a spaz and not saying anything. Which is weird, because he loves to talk. And is a great talker too. Jerry: I had the same question, but we were duped because Orcus then says something like 'to beat the beast... you gotta be the beast' Calvin: Was he referencing Ric Flair there? Jerry: I don't know, but whoever thought of this angle was certainly refencing Mankind, because they pass the mic to Moxley and he just grunts BOILERRRR... ROOM... BRRRAAAAAWL! Calvin: For you young grasshopers out there, that's when the two competitors are supposedly locked alone inside a room for 24 hours before the match with no light, food, water or kayfabe. Jerry: It's a stipulation made for characters like EL CHUPACABRA! and I think they made pretty good use of it here. Calvin: The execution was pretty solid too, except for that cringe-worthy spot. I mean, anything less than a wild brawl across the entire venue would be underselling the stipulation. Jerry: They ran with it and went wild, as they should have. Moxley bled like a stuffed pig, he took a crazy bump through a sheet of glass, but man, that elbow... Calvin: Botchamania 101. It started off as a comedy spot, but... ugh! Jerry: So here's what happened. Moxley is down inside the ring. His monstrous opponent has some wild idea, climbs to the top rope and pats his elbow... Calvin: I mean, the very idea of a character like that doing a move like a diving elbow drop is comedy Jerry: He jumps. Moxley rolls away. He lands. Badly. Real bad. Calvin: As in, his armbone stuck out of his suit, bad. I couln't watch, I prayed for the X to end it right there. Jerry: It was genuinely hard to watch. But somehow he soldiered on and hit the Silencio de los Cabras, probably they rushed straight to the finish and he never broke character either. I mean, it was slightly above the usual two star stuff, but no one wants or needs to see that. Stay safe, people. Calvin: I'm guessing he'll move on to fight Orcus for the title next? Assuming he doesn't get sidelined for too long. Jerry: Probably. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the follow up to this though. Calvin: Annabelle was winging that promo. Or the intro, at least. Jerry: She basically implied that match got her hungry and wanting to suck the marrow from that protruding bone or something. I can't imagine someone wrote it for her like that word for word, but the creative team probably expected some mayhem after the match and this was how they'd segway into her promo. So maybe she just re-phrased the first part. Calvin: She made it genuinely creepy though. Because otherwise, it was a basic promo of her complaining she wasn't in the next match. Jerry: Oh man, the Bloodbath match... Calvin: I mean, we should have seen it coming. It sounds hardcore, but does CTUC ever use its women for anything more than eye candy stuff? Jerry: Well, in hindsight, yeah. This was eye candy, people. Flesh for fantasy. A jigglefest, as the modern term goes. The blood part had to do with the substance they filled a big pool inside the ring with. Calvin: Imagine women's mud wrestling, but with blood instead of mud. Jerry: It really fit the heels as a visual. The Devil's Playthings in their BDSM gimp bodysuits looked like they were made for this and I bet Abominatrix gave some people the weirdest, most shameful boner of their lives. Calvin: Really wonder how come Annabelle the Canni-belle wasn't involved in this. Jerry: Fair point. I was a little lost with the babyface team though. Avarice and Envy did the whole "ew this is disgusting". Pride was all business like the blood wasn't even there. Then there was Lust. Calvin: That's the character though. Being an oddball. Jerry: Think Envy might have legit slipped on some blood during the finishing sequence. That landing looked bad. Calvin: She may have been injured after that. Jerry: She ate the pin though, so I'm not sure if it was part of the finish. Pretty standard heel group stuff, Lillith directing trafic, all zone in on one enemy, she gets the pinfall. Calvin: Still the hottest match of the night though. Wait, I didn't mean it like that... Jerry: Three stars easy, maybe three and a quarter even. Insanely talented, all of them. Calvin: A shame to see them wasted in these kinds of matches, really Jerry: Well rejoice, parter, because your favourite Ghetto Cowboy was up next! Calvin: And he more or less cut the same promo as Annabelle. I should have been in this main event wrestling for the title yadda yadda. Jerry: He didn't have the aura of Annabelle, but the delivery was pretty solid, methinks. Calvin: And in case you forgot this was CTUC you're watching, here's a load o' wrestlecrap for the main event to remind you! Jerry: I mean, it was the usual two star stuff, just like the opener. Full circle and all that. Calvin: I think it lacked character. That's why the women's match and the Boiler Room Brawl were good, they felt different. Unique. Jerry: Well Malice and Vanity are not the greatest westlers on the face of the earth, so I guess they could have used some harcore insanity or a crazy stipulation to help spice up this match. Calvin: You mean distract from their non-existent in-ring talent. Jerry: However you call it, they shouldn't have done a straightforward wrestling match, no matter how saucy or violent some spots were. At least Malice tried to salvage it when he went for a dive, got caught and then powerslammed onto some chairs. Calvin: That's defense number, what, three? He's the owner, booker and permanent champion, now where have I seen that before... Jerry: Overall I'd put the show at two stars and a quarter, D- on the letter scale. Let down by the finisher and while the injuries didn't exactly impact the grade, I'm just a little worried they ended the night with two or three injuries, depending on what happened with Envy.
  3. A great, slick look similar to some of the most visually impressive diaries around. I did a much less impressive tweak, adding code for drop-down menus on the show index as it was getting a tad too long by this point. Happy New Year from me as well, looking to get this one rolling again.
  4. Love each and every song choice, but Silas coming out to any RevCo music is just too sweet!
  5. Not exactly gone silent, more like full of minor, short-lived promotions not really worth mentioning. APW's description, if I remember correctly, mentions that it started as an attempt to unite some of the smaller companies into one big promotion. I'm guessing India will be similar, with local shows that never made it out of their hometown until now.

Round 1, 3:03 [Great]</p><p> </p><p> - Regina de Avila silenced all the critics who called her title win over Kaczmarek a fluke when she choked out challenger Janey McDwyre in the first round of the main event! A fast and exciting fight, de Avila's first title defence was an absolute success and with things heating up between former champion and Lynda Epsom, it seems that Rachel McGuiness will be the one to fight the Portugese champion next.</p><p> </p><p> - It was never going to be pretty in the semi main event, a heated rivalry further fuelled by online trash talk between Ilya Fedorov and Saul Cervantes. Fedorov seemed like he'd done his homework, repeatedly avoiding the head kicks of Cervantes until exhaustion took his toll and a kick finally connected with less than a minute left in the third round. It didn't come with enough force for a knock out or TKO though and things went to the judges who came back with the least desirable outcome, a split decision marking Cervantes as the winner and probably extending the feud into another fight in the future with hopes of a decisive finish.</p><p> </p><p> - Mily Golovanov's undefeated RSC streak continued, at the expense of Mando Romer's 11-0 career streak in an exciting battle at the Welterweight division. Romero's strikes kept the Russian at bay in the first round and he was literally saved by the bell after Golovanov got the takedown but ran out of time to convert it into a submission. Round 2 began with Golovanov picking up right where he left off and moments later, the tap out came.</p><p> </p><p> - No love lost in the night's Super Heavyweight fight, a long and heated rivalry between Capes and Goggins. The match itself wasn't as long though, with Capes barely landing a jab before he caught Goggins with a big head kick! Following that up with a crunching uppercut, he knocked Goggins to the mat and finished the fight by raining down the punches.</p><p> </p><p> - Antanas Kucera remains undefeated in RSC and what an impressive victory he was able to pull off against his compatriot Adam Mlakar! Mainly known for his wrestling skills, Kucera gave and received the opening salvo of blows, but as soon as he found an opening, he delivered a stunning uppercut to knock his opponent out cold!</p><p> </p><p> - Otto Renner secured his spot in the Heavyweight Top 10 with a dominant victory over the debuting Wally da Cunha. Entering the fight as a heavy favourite, Renner only took a few shots before he was able to shoot, taking his opponent down to dominate him with strikes that forced the TKO finish.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Bonus</span></strong></p><p><strong> Fight of the Night:</strong> de Avila vs McDwyre</p><p> <strong>KO of the Night:</strong> Kucera vs Mlakar</p><p> <strong>Submission of the Night:</strong> de Avila vs McDwyre</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Post-Fight</span></strong></p><p><strong> Saul Cervantes:</strong> <em>"I was the underdog, I was lower in the rankings and I still beat that punk Fedorov. It'll be much shorter when I get in the cage with Benoit LeMarche though."</em></p><p> <strong>Colin J L Capes:</strong> <em>"I said I'd take down Goggins and tonight I did just that. Dwight Witherspoon better get prepared, because I'm coming to kick his ass and take his title!"</em></p><p> <strong>Katie-Jayne Paulson:</strong> <em>"I think Maya Komagata would be a tough challenge next, but I'm interested in trying"</em></p><p> <strong>Dave Lennon:</strong> <em>"Percy Catcher is next on my hit list, then it's championship gold time!"</em></p>
  9. <div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Breaking News</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p> Some very interesting news coming out of Red Star Combat lately and with every fighter making weight for RSC 20: de Avila vs McDwyre last night, here is a short recap of everything before the Russian company's next show</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Unannounced Plans</strong></p><p> Several RSC fighters have been reported to enter training and it is rumored that the company already has put together the cards for some of its summer shows filled up. No official confirmation or denial has come out yet, but it is expected that the June to August shows and cards will be announced once they've been finalized.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Evelina Popsil injury</strong></p><p> Young Russian Tae Kwon Do fighter Evelina Popsil was reportedly hospitalized after she tore her rotator cuff during training. Popsil wasn't scheduled to appear in any RSC shows up until May, so it is believed she would be fighting in June instead. Whether she will be replaced or the fight cancelled, we do not know yet.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>BCF with the double contract offer</strong></p><p> #7 RSC Middleweight Wenderson de Oliveira (11-1, 1-0 RSC) and #5 Welterweight Vjekoslav Sarich (9-1, 2-1 RSC) have both now officially left RSC after accepting exclusive deals to fight for BCF in Britain. The loss of Sarich especially has been analyzed as a significant loss for the Russian company, as the Croatian had been doing well and was well on his way to a title shot.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Final Fight before the big leagues</strong></p><p> BCF wasn't the only one to sign RSC fighters to exclusive deals though. ALPHA-1 got Dominic Ash, Newton Reis and Zabit Mansurov recently. All three fighters will be making their first and final appearance for RSC tomorrow, with Ash facing Nshan Ramazyan while Reis and Mansurov will be competing against each other.</p>
  10. Yup, I understand it's a copious process. Thanks for keeping these up.

Round 2, 2:46 [Fantastic]</p><p> </p><p> - Originally booked for RSC 18: Tavares vs Dorridge, the fight between LeMarche and Egorov was moved to this show and saw the Russian fighter go after his opponent's recently broken nose. LeMarche was dominant for the first two rounds though, keeping Egorov against the cage for some close quarters fighting and it wasn't until the final round that the Canadian was finally able to complete a takedown. Once he did though, he had little trouble in hitting the shots needed to achieve a TKO finish and start his RSC career strong in decisive fashion.</p><p> </p><p> - What a night for Jan Bodjukan! Entering as the heavy favourite and hometown hero, he got absolutely plastered by a big right hook from Smirnov in true cinematic fashion. A single move into the fight, a one punch knockout, KO of the Night award and a much needed victory for Tomasz Smirnov!</p><p> </p><p> - A similar story in the Women's Featherweight fight, where Rachel McGuiness entered as the heavy favourite and did indeed get the win just one move into the bout. Though she didn't knock her opponent out, she showed enough of a killer instict to mount her fallen opponent and deliver blow after blow for the TKO, giving the rookie Ivanov her first career loss.</p><p> </p><p> - Camp Ortega versus Dojo of Zui Quan in the semi main event, a stand and bang affair that saw the 36 year old Indonesian veteran focus on his opponent's leg with scything kicks. Although that got Vega limping, it wasn't enough for Sriyanto to convert into a takedown and neither did the clinch yield anything for him.</p><p> </p><p> - No love lost between the two fighters in the all-German main event title bout. Biel went all-in for some grapppling from the start, forcing Broderick to the cage but eating a big right hand that almost cost her everything! The challenger was unable to finish the fight though and once Round 2 began, Biel got the takedown. It took some time for a successful pass, but Broderick's weakness on the mat showed and the champion was able to sink in the hooks for the submission to make her first successful title defence.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Bonus</span></strong></p><p><strong> Fight of the Night:</strong> Biel vs Broderick</p><p> <strong>KO of the Night:</strong> Smirnov vs Bodjukan</p><p> <strong>Submission of the Night:</strong> Biel vs Broderick</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Post Fight</span></strong></p><p><strong> Trish Biel"</strong> <em>"Was that great or was it great?! 21. Is that disappointment I'm reading between the lines? All joking aside, I wasn't actually expecting anyone to read this, besides maybe CGN91 who did an MMA diary and inspired this one, so I didn't hype it up or anything. MMA diaries seem to be mostly about real world mods, minimal reader response and usually, a quiet death. I'm actually surprised to get any reader comments!

Daljit Samir (WR#5, CR#4, 11-1, 1-1 RSC) via Unanimous Decision – 30:27, 30:27, 29:28 [Decent] RSC Featherweight Championship: Rafael Tavares (WR#21, CR#1, 17-5, 1-0 RSC) def. Jay Dorridge (CR#4, 11-3, 0-0 RSC) via Unanimous Decision – 49:46, 49:46, 49:46 [Average] - First successful title defense for Rafael Tavares in the main event, a hard fought 5 round fight against the debuting UK judoka, Jay Dorridge. Tavares made the best of his speed and agile striking game for an early advantage, keeping his opponent at bay and only allowing him to go for his first takedown as late as the third round. Dorridge ended round 2 with a cut and was clearly limping by the third round, but stuck to his guns and started pulling off judo takedowns despite ultimately being unable to lock in a submission. - Daljit Samir took another blow to her reputation, taking her once impressive 11-0 streak to 11-2 after another loss, this time to Brazil’s Rennaya Rives. Both women brought a flurry of strikes for the full three rounds, but it was Rives who got the best of the exchange and won the fight on the scorecards. - Big first win against the odds and in impressive fashion too for Antanas Jelinek, who pulled off a one punch knockout at the expense of Adam Kucera. A fight straight out of a movie, this one took a single blow to end in decisive fashion and fans loved it, with no one surprised it won both Fight of the Night and KO of the Night. - An equally short and spectacular fight in the Women’s Flyweight division, with Costa opening the bout shooting for a takedown, only for Junna to catch her with a devastating knee to the face! Though not enough on its own to take out the Brazilia fighter, the blow still dropped her to the mat and Junna zoned in for the strikes to get the victory via TKO. - Breakout rookie Maja Krawczyk did it again, pulling off another decisive victory at the expense of MMA veteran Kerry Silverman to make it 3-0. Krawczyk is quickly becoming a hit with the fans, scoring big wins and building up a mean streak. - Return to form for the Pride of Pakistan after Hanif Hussain tarnished his undefeated streak, another loss for Nigeria’s Olu Yolo. A tough, strike-heavy fight with both men winning a round each, this went to the third and final round, with Amir Ahmed digging deep to execute an impressive side slam, following with a mount to rain down the bombs on a stunned Yolo, forcing the referee to jump in and stop a fight. Bonus Fight of the Night: Jelinek vs Kucera KO of the Night: Jelinek vs Kucera Submission of the Night: None Post-Fight Antanas Jelinek: ”Being such a heavy underdog really helped motivate me during training, I’m delighted to win and prove all the bookies wrong.” Kyoko Junna: ”I want, no, I demand a fight against Joan Whitehouse!” Amir Ahmed: ”Much respect to Yolo, he put on a tough fight” Edu Gattai: ”When I fight Carl Ratcliffe, I’m going to embarrass him” Jarno Zijlstra: ”Fred Goggins… How about Fred Dodgings? I know you’re scared of me, but you can’t evade me forever!” Mao Fukada: ”That was a great fight, but I haven’t got a lot of those left. Next one will be my last and I plan to go out with a bang!”
