Some varied predictions there. All the Kennedy votes contradict the "which brand will win?" poll which has Raw and ECW tying ahead of Smackdown.
I still love this diary mate. The Road to Wrestlemania begins here and now with the Royal Rumble! King: Another stacked card courtesy of WWE topped off with the icing on the cake: The Royal Rumble Match! JR: 30 men competing for the ultimate prize, a place in the Main Event of Wrestlemania 24! King: And we all know that it will be a Raw Superstar who gets it JR! Taz: Raw?! Not on your life Burger King! When 29 other men are down and out it'll be an ECW star standing tall in that ring! Styles: Tell 'em Taz! JBL: Oh, I wasn't aware that there was a separate Rumble match for the B and C shows this year. There isn't?! Then how can you seriously think anyone from a brand other than Smackdown is walking out the Rumble winner?! Cole: Speaking of the Blue Brand, its time to get things started! Cruiserweight Title on the line! MATCH 1 Good strong opener. The crowd really bought into the cruiserweight action as all three men pushed themselves to the limit. Pinfalls were constantly attempted but constantly broken up by the third man. Aries went for an Elbow from the top on Noble who rolled out of the ring to avoid it. Styles took his chance to land the Spiral Tap on Aries but the fall was broken by Noble who pulled the referee out of the ring. Lacey threw the title belt to Aries who went for AJ but the champ ducked and kicked it back in his face. The fall couldn't be counted but Noble took the opportunity to clock AJ with the belt himself just before the referee recovered. With Aries still out he was able to secure the pinfall. Jamie Noble def. Austin Aries & AJ Styles by pinfall at 13:58 Jamie Noble wins the WWE Cruiserweight Title RATING = B- The crowd boo as Noble clutches the Cruiserweight Title close to himself. AJ is furious and Aries is beside himself at his own plan being used to Noble's benefit. Cole: AJ Styles just couldn't fight off two people so intent on breaking the rules! RATING = B- Torrie and Maria are hanging out backstage. Torrie: Hiya! How are you? Roxxxi Laveaux: There be changes coming pretty ones. Things are gonna get ugly in the wake of a New Dawn... Torrie: Oh um... That's uh... That's good to know... Taz: Is she one of yours JR?! Eventually Shamrock catches the IC champ in the corner and goes to work. Suplexes and kicks rock Nitro who is unable to get any separation from a furious challenger. Melina provides the distraction he needs by grabbing Shamrock's leg but his response sends her fleeing for safety. Now the Shaman of Sexy fights back, actually getting the better of the World's Most Dangerous Man, a stalling suplex preceeds some c*cky showboating from the champ which attracts cheers from a section of the audience. But Nitro's failure to capitalise proves his downfall as Shamrock srpings to his feet and erupts into "The Zone", three suplexes in a row take the wind out of Nitro and a Dragon Screw puts him down for the Ankle Lock. Nitro screams in pain and taps almost instantly but Shamrock doesn't release the hold. The referee yells for him to let go and Melina returns to plead with him as Nitro continues to scream in agony. Eventually Nitro passes out from the pain and the referee decides to reverse the decision, disqualifying Ken Shamrock! Johnny Nitro def. Ken Shamrock by DQ at 9:44 Johnny Nitro retains the WWE Intercontinental Title RATING = B Officials tend to Nitro while the referee explains his decision to a fuming Shamrock who responds by flooring him and slapping on the Ankle Lock! The referee cries out in pain as dozens of security rush the ring to pull him off. Eventually they settle for Shamrock walking away with them following at a discrete distance. After he has left, Nitro is helped to the back, unable to put weight on his ankle. King: Nitro kept the belt JR, but does that really count as winning? RATING = B- MATCH 3 The crowd seemed reluctant to get into this match but, once all six men hit their stride, they got solidly behind the champs. Angel Williams did her best to influence the outcome of the match but was unable to keep four men off guard long enough to allow The Naturals to make a move. Eventually her interference became too much for the referee who ordered her to leave ringside. Angel didn't take to this well and climbed onto the apron to argue unwittingly providing The Triumvirate with the opportunity they needed. Jamie Noble ran down with his newly won Cruiserweight Title and blasted Kendrick upside the head before knocking London off the apron. Yang tied up Douglas and Stevens while Guido covered for the win Yang & Guido def. Oh I know that there are pretenders to the throne: A King of Bling Bling, A King of the Jungle, A King of Wrestling, A King of... Kings? Wow egocentric much Trips?! But anyway, what I'm saying is this, while they all gave themselves their title, I EARNED mine! Just like I'm going to earn my way into the Wrestlemania Main Event or my name isn't Misterrrrrrrr............ Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy............... Kennedy! Wait... No... This is an all out brawl from bell to bell. A Samoan Drop is as technical as Umaga gets and the others follow suit. Umaga seems utterly commited to the match, using his body as a veritable battering ram as Armando Estrada goads him on. Batista has support from Shane McMahon while Lashley goes it alone. The slugfest continues until Shane distracts the referee to allow Deuce and Domino to run down... To little effect as both men are pummelled by The Human Wrecking Ball and The Dominator. Batista backs off to let the faces fight and Umaga puts Lashley down hard before climbing the turnbuckle for the Banzai Drop. Lashley moves at the last second and catches a charging Batista in a turning Spinebuster which plants him straight onto the Samoan. Lashley holds onto the Animal and heaves him back up before flipping him over for the Dominator and the three count! Bobby Lashley def. Umaga & Batista by pinfall at 11:51 Bobby Lashley retains the ECW Heavyweight Title RATING = B Shane gets into Lashley's face post match to allow The Throwbacks a second chance at the attack but the plan backfires and Shane finds himself running from the ECW Champ after Deuce and Domino are both clotheslined to the floor. Taz: I don't think he's that stupid Joey! RATING = C Marcus CorVon is in the back for some words with Daffney. CorVon: I've been looking forward to this tonight Daffney. Stalking big game in the Royal Rumble Match. The perfect environment for the Alpha Male! But then it gets even better because even though we have the likes of Chris Jericho, Kennedy, CM Punk and John Cena in the match there is one prey I'm particularly looking forward to stalking: Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Triple H talks all about this "Game" of his well tonight your going to find out that Survival of the Fittest is no mere game and when it comes to survival nobody can beat The King of the Jungle! That doesn't stop The Fallen Angel from threatening to upset the champ in the first couple of minutes with some quick rollups that take the champ out of his confort zone. Daniels own ability actually forces MVP to show some of his own and soon both men are having a nice little match. But the contest is nothing for MVP next to the winning and he whips Daniels to the outside for Henry to earn his keep. However, before The World's Strongest Man can go to work, the lights go out. The crowd is confused until the sound of a gong draws huge cheers. Soon the lights come on again but, when they do, they reveal Mark Henry laid out cold, motionless at ringside. MVP is stupified and stares in disbeleif at his fallen Insurance Policy, unaware of Daniels coming from behind and schoolboy rollup gets the suprise three count! Christopher Daniels def. Nash: At least a dozen, I even fought some of them twice! Miz: So, any tips on how to win the rumble? Nash: Well its a bit late to put on 200 pounds so... No. Oh wait! No. Not yet but that doesn't mean I'm not going to bring 100% tonight. Lita, Victoria and Melissa might have been the ones to injure me but I know you were behind the attack. The wily heel bails for a breather and counters a Kane charge into a droptoehold into the ring steps. The ringsteps are used again as Edge targets Kane's right arm, beating it off the steel constantly. Back in the ring, Edge continues to work over the arm, wrenching it in a bid to cancel out the Chokeslam. Kane tries to rally but the pain in his arm holds him back as Edge continually returns to that body part in his attack. But The Big Red Machine will not give up and Edge grows frustrated. The Rated R Superstar bails to the outside but before he can head up the ramp, he is cut off by Kane who shakes his head at the champ's plan. Edge is thrown back into the ring and the match continues. The champ tries another tack and grabs his title belt, making no effort to hide it from the referee. But when he goes to hit Kane, the belt is snatched away by the referee. Affronted, Edge complains but is soon cut off by the hand of Kane around his neck. The Big Red Machine goes to hoist Edge up for the Chokslam but his arm is too weakened and he drops him, Edge uses the momentum, grabbing Kane's head and drilling him down in a variation of the Edgucution before rolling him up for the pin. Both men showed they had learned from previous encounters with several reversals nodding to earlier matches. The cowd support was largely torn between them with as many "Let's go Randy" chants as "Let's go Hardy". Several nearfalls for both men with last minute kick outs and feet on the ropes narrowly avoiding defeat. Both men looed to put the other away with their signature finisher but were unable to complete it before it was countered by the other. One sequence saw the RKO reversed into the Twist of Fate which was reversed into Orton's backbreaker. Hardy hit his "yodelling" leg drop but poor positioning left Orton's foot under the ropes denying the pinfall. In the end it a prolonged series of reversals was ended by Orton who finally managed to land hit the RKO on his opponent for the three count. Randy Orton def. Unfortunately the final match factors heavilly in the overall rating and, like King of the Ring before, I'm a stickler for tradition over match ratings. :o Overall I'm pleased with how the show went down though I did have to bump the Raw Tag Title match, I should have realised that there wouldn't be time with the Rumble Match being on the card... I wasn't sure of the format to use for the Rumble match itself, hope the one I settled on worked ok! Thanks to those who have voted for me in the DOTM, if you haven't... why not?! Seriously though, thanks for reading! :))

WWE News: Releases and more - WWE has come to terms for the release of Matt Striker, Funaki, Tony Mamaluke and Ashley Massaro. - Sharmell Sullivan has left the company due to contract expiry. Sharmell had expressed little interest in staying in WWE after completing her Law Degree and so management opted to not enter into extension negotiations. It is unknown how Sharmell's husband Booker T, who is one half of the Raw Tag Team Champions, has responded to this or how it will affect his position in the company. - TV contract negotiations are underway for WWE Raw programming. As usual this is being viewed as a formality. - Several WWE alumni have announced their retirement from wrestling. Most notable is Hulk Hogan but several other well known names are also hanging up their boots: Jacqueline, Chavo Guerrero Sr, Jerry Sags, The Bushwackers, Road Warrior Animal, Jim Duggan, Jim Neidhart, The Barbarian, Mike Rotundo (IRS), Luna Vachon, The Honky Tonk Man, Barry Windham, One Man Gang, Dennis Condrey and Bill Eadie. - The card for WWE's Supershow in Tokyo has been announced, the show itself will take place on Sunday, Week 2, January 2008: WWE In Your House TOKYO! Randy Orton v Ken Shamrock for the WWE Raw Heavyweight Title Edge v Yoshinari Ogawa for the WWE Smackdown Heavyweight Title The Undertaker & Kane v Chris Masters & Kevin Thorn Bobby Lashley & Triple H v Marcus CorVon & Batista Christopher Daniels v Naomichi Marafuji for the WWE United States Title Johnny Nitro v CM Punk for the WWE Intercontinental Title Jamie Noble v KENTA for the WWE Cruiserweight Title Ken Kennedy v Matt Hardy Lita v Ayako Hamada v Mariko Yoshida for the WWE Women's Title SOURCE: Camp Freddie

That was the month that was... January. - The Rumble is in the books and, overal, I'm pleased with how it went down. I'd have been happier with a higher rating of course but, for reasons already outlined, that just wasn't to be. My poor time management turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Booker T & Goldust v Viscera & Conway was in fact the worst match of the night! - I couldn't giving The Triumvirate the gold. A lot of my feuds have been going on for some time now and I was hesitant to let The Naturals and The Hooligans keep going without shaking things up a little. - Profits rose again up to $7,178,742, mainly due to increased PPV revenue which was bound to happen with a prestigious event like the Rumble. - No complaints in TV land with ratings staying strong. - So its bye bye Jeffykins... He won't be missed. Rodimer pushed it too far too and paid the price. - Sharmell gone, no real loss. The last round of releases were simple housekeeping, getting rid of some of the clutter that had accumulated in the lower card. - Pleased with Jigsaw to the extent that I cancelled the working agreement with Chikara so I could sign him full time and, since JTG and Justice Smith have chemistry, I may have found a way to use them post Cryme Tyme and Shock & Awe. - The booking team rejoice at MVP finally dropping the UST but now they are complaining that Daniels is too good for it! - Balls thinks he is losing too much (yes you read that right), Chris Hero feels underused and Linda McMahon continues her rebellion. - Triple H is doing well upon his return and the CorVon feud is getting over nicely. Someone else is raring to go as the Rumble may have hinted... - Edge is Mr Overness with A*s everywhere except mexico for some reason. Lashley, Batista, Cena, Orton and Trips aren't far behind. Edge, like Orton, is definitely the cornerstone of his brand, pulling in viewers and delivering great matches. - Daffney is joined at Momentum Peak by Lashley, Orton and Cena. - Things are beginning to take shape for Wrestlemania. I already have my provisional card drawn up and, barring misfortune, it should hopefully come off nicely! - Hall of Fame nominations are closed, I'm thinking maybe five inductions for the year. For those who want to vote I'll get that going soon. - One more thing... My show post rate is likely to dip from now on. I'm hoping to average a "week" a week but college work is about to be joined with placement work too which, combined with other "real life" shenanigans may squeeze things a bit from time to time.
Great PPV mate. I agree the Rumble has to be at the end and is worth taking the hit in the final grade. Everything moved along nicely and I can't wait for the road to Wrestlemania to continue!
Cheers, I had hummed and hawed about the Rumble but it was only ever really going on last. Looking forward to you getting another show posted yourself, though I know what its like trying to find time these days! :) ...And that'll do it! Thanks for reading and thanks to those who have voted for this in the DOTM. Anyone got any comments or queries they'd like to fling in my direction while I'm in answering mode?

It's took me over a week reading a few pages at a time and now i've finished i've got to say this is now my favorite Dynasty on here. I'm rooting for The Miz camp to get some gold your write ups with them have been ace! On the Raw side of things a few of the Goldust and Booker T segments have made me actually laugh out loud the push of Dykstra is also good and also excited to see where you take the Ken Shamrock Johnny Nitro feud. ECW i really liked your Vince McMahon promos and would love him to return and i know Balls ain't going to get you big ratings but i can still hope for a Balls push right? right? .... Oh and finally the Colt Cabana and William Regal stuff as been really funny and i could so picture Colt doing that, and thats what makes it so good.

This week in WWE Raw guaranteed itself the main event at Wrestlemania when John Cena defeated 29 other wrestlers to win the Royal Rumble. The number one contender will be in attendance but so too will the current Raw Champion, Randy Orton. Having successfully defended his title against Matt Hardy at the Rumble, the Legend Killer does not get an easy night as he takes on the powerhouse Burchill in singles competition! Also this week's show will see the Raw Tag Team Titles on the line as Booker T and Goldust face off against the pairing of Viscera and Rob Conway. Can the unlikely succeed in what, thanks to the incredible size of Viscera, is essentially a handicap match? This week however the Smackdown champion will tag with former United States Champion, MVP to face Kane and Chris Jericho! The new US Champ will also be in action as he defends his title less than a week after winning it against "Double C" Claudio Castagnoli! Reports from backstage at the Rumble indicate that King of the Ring, Ken Kennedy was less than pleased about losing in the 30 man match. The c*cky superstar has promised to turn things around after failing to live up to his word. The Triumvirate had a good night at the rumble with each man wearing gold by the night's end after the secured both the Cruiserweight and Tag Team titles. Mariko Yoshida by pinfall at 4:44 RATING = C- Delilah is in the ring ith a microphone. Delilah: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the 2008 WWE Royal Rumble Match... JOHN CENA! Cena strides out from the back to a huge pop. He soaks in the cheers for a moment before taking the mic from Delilah. Cena: So this is the part where I talk about how it was a hard match last night... Well you know what? It WAS a hard match... DAMN hard! 30 men all competing for the prize, no friends, no allies just 30 individualsd looking to step over everyone else to get to the top. And John Cena did it! And now I should say how I couldn't have done it without the support of my fans... Well, you know what? I couldn't. I know we've had our differences in the past but hearing you all cheer me on gave me the edge I needed in the match where I maybe needed it the most. Oh, and this is also where I say how I couldn't be happier that I'm headed to Wrestlemania, to the main event to compete for the WWE Raw Heavyweight Title... Well... You know what? I AM happy that I'm headed to Wrestlemania... And I AM happy that I'm gonna be in the main event... And... I am positively ecstatic that I am going to take back MY WWE Raw Heavywwight Title! Orton: Hold it... Hold it HOLD IT! Cena looks bemused as Randy Orton makes his way out from the back. Orton: YOUR title? Hmmmm... let's just check that shall we. There's a name here on the bottom of this... R... A... ND... Y... Randy? ORT... O... N... Randy Orton? That's... that's me! Well that must mean that... THIS IS MY TITLE! Cena: Congratulations, at least when I take it from you you'll still have your spelling bee trophy to comfort you... Orton: Ha... ha. The point is John, you won't be taking my title from me. Not at Wrestlemania, not ever. I am the dominating force in this business now. Wrestler of the Year and champion of the sport. Cena: But Randy, I will be beating you and I will be taking that belt. And, unlike you, I will do it myself. When I lost that title back at Summerslam it was because of you. Not that you took it from me personally though. No you thought you'd interfere in my match and let that goofball Sideshow Bob win the belt. Because you knew what I know: You can't beat me Randy. Unfortunately for you, I know I can beat you and I know that at Wrestlemania I will become champion once again. The belt might be up there draped over your shoulder Randy but the champ? The CHAMP IS HERE! Orton looks p*ssed and runs down to attack Cena who happily leaves the ring to meet him. The two men brawl for a bit before officials and security pull them apart. RATING = A* As security struggle to keep Cena and Orton away from each other, Eric Bischoff's music hits and the GM makes his way to the stage. Bischoff: You two have been a problem in the past, don't think being the champ and number one contender respectively gives you any authority. This is my show and, if I decide, then NEITHER of you will be main eventing Wrestlemania! But... I'm not a fool, I know good business so for tonight, I will prtect my interests. John Cena, you must be tired from last night, go back to the hotel, you are no longer needed here tonight, security will help you if you get lost on the way out. And Randy Orton... You hae a match my boy tonight it will be you versus Burchill in one on one competition! King: Bischoff has laid the law down! RATING = B+ We see Ken Shamrock and Val Venis warming up together ahead of their match. Shamrock is still seething from the night before and Val looks aprehensive. Venis: So uhh, that was unlucky last night in your match with Nitro... Shamrock: ... Venis: I mean that must make you pretty angry... Shamrock: ... Venis: Ummm... Shamrock: ... Venis: Listen, that thing with your sister... Ryan? That's all... that's all water under the bridge huh? Shamrock: grrrrr... Venis: .... oh look! Time to for the match! Val tiptoes away leaving Shamrock turning crimson. The strategy proves poor as the teamwork of Cade & Murdoch. Eventually Val thinks of a new strategy and tags in his partner, indicating that they think it was amusing that he lost out in his IC Title match. Shamrock snaps and, despite his opponents' best efforts, manhandles them both in a flurry of aggression. The Anklelock is cinched in on Murdoch who calls to his partner for help but Cade thinks better of it when Shamrock almost stares a hole straight through him and he bails leaving Murdoch to quickly tap out. Val heads to the back too as Shamrock stands in the ring fuming. His mood isn't helped when the Titantron switches to show Johnny Nitro and Melina. Melina: You should be locked in a cage you know that?! You see what you have done? The camera tilts to show that Nitro is on crutches, his ankle heavilly taped. Melina: What you did was unprofessional and inexcusable! Nitro: That's right but you know what? I'm ok with it Ken. I'm ok with it because in the end the system worked. Your blatant disregard for professional conduct showed you as being unfit championship material. And if you don't deserve the gold... you don't get the gold. You may have thought you were taking charge of your own destiny when you faced me at the rumble but the end result was never in question. Like a twig on the shore you will wash away while The Shaman of Sexy endures like a rock... Temper tantrums and hissy fits just prove what I knew all along Ken, you are like a child among men. Shamrock snaps and destroys the ringside area as security seem at a loss to control him. JR: It seems to me that Nitro just can't quit while he's ahead. The Pedigree adds an exclamation point to the contest. Triple H def. He turns at the top to wave to the fans again but is struck from behind by Marcus CorVon. The Alpha Male contniues to beat The Game, pounding him in to the steel walkway. Triple H tries to fight back but, with suprise on his side, CorVon is able to keep the upper hand. The King of the Jungle hauls the King of Kings to his feet and rams him head first into the staging before letting his limp body fall to the floor. CorVon has a mic. CorVon: Triple H, you cost me the Royal Rumble match. You cost me my rightful place at Wrestlemania and more importantly, you cost me me shot at the WWE Raw Heavyweight Title. That title will be mine but, for now I have some time on my hands and I am going to use every second to make you wish you had never got up in face in the first place. Triple H, it's time to play the game again... but now we're gonna play by my rules! JR: Triple H isn't someone you mess with King, he's beaten a veritable who's who in this business and earned his title as King of Kings. I'm not sure if The Alpha Male realises what he's got himself into. King: Maybe JR but its the Law of the Jungle, the head of the pack is laways going to be replaced by a younger and hungrier challenger, maybe that challenger has arrived in the form of the Alpha Male! RATING = B MATCH 5 A bit scrappy. Booker T and Conway wrestled the majority of the match. Conway was unable to make much of an impact against the tag champs and had to rely on his massive partner to bail him out on a few occaissions. The finish came when Booker T reveresed and Irish Whip and sent Conway into his partner, knocking Vis off the apron to the floor. With the difference maker gone, the Bookend quickly dispatched the Conman. Booker T & Goldust def. The behemoth wants to hear none of it and turns to walk away. Conway makes the mistake of grabbing Vis' shoulder and pays for it when he is floored with a stiff right hand and then squashed by his presumably now former partner. Orton took his opponent a bit lightly after coming out on top in the early stages but quickly re-evaluated his situation when the Englishman began taking the fight to the champ. A C4 almost got the pinfall until the referee spotted Orton's foot on the ropes, to the dismay of the crowd. A DDT put the Legend Killer down and Burchill climbed the top rope to come off with a SSP but it failed to connect when Orton rolled out of the way at the last second. The champ stalked his prey as Burchill struggled to his feet only to be sent crashing back to the canvas by an RKO to give Orton the win. Randy Orton def. The crowd suddenly erupt as John Cena leaps over the barrier and into the ring. Orton turns to see what the commotion is about but sees his adversary too late to prevent Cena from hoisting him up and dropping him to the mat with an FU. The Number One Contender motions "You Can't See Me" before picking up the title belt and posing with it for the crowd as the show closes. JR: Something tells me things are going to get ugly before we get to Wrestlemania King... RATING = A* FINAL RATING = B (GO BURCHILL! As much as Orton is my MVP, you have to figure the Englishman into that rating. It has been noted for future reference! Good show setting the direction for Wrestlemania nicely. I figured the Tag Title match deserved another go round on TV instead of settling for the Dark Match. :))

Another good show matey. If I'm being harsh, the Orton - Cena confrontations are quite generic and have been done before, but even so you pull it off well so I can't complain. 'Mania's looking good as the card starts to shape up. Best thing about it though has to be Burchill having an A*. What's his overness like? We need to see him main eventing 'cos the guy rules!
